In this work, twenty hydrazide-hydrazone and 4-thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized starting from m-cresol. Antimicrobial evaluation was carried out by microdilution method against Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus as Gram-positive bacteria and Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as Gram-negative bacteria, and three pathogenic fungi Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis and Candida krusei. Some compounds possessed considerable antimicrobial properties against the tested microorganisms, particularly against E. coli. 4-Thiazolidinones containing 3-methoxyphenyl and 3,5-dichlorophenyl moieties (4h and 4i) were found to be the most active derivatives with MICs of 2 μg/mL against E. coli. N'-[(3,5-dichlorophenyl)methylidene]-2-(3-methylphenoxy)acetohydrazide (3i) also displayed antifungal activity against Candida krusei that was comparable to fluconazole. Calculated drug-likeness and ADMET parameters of the most active compounds confirmed their potential as antimicrobial drug candidates. Molecular docking investigations were carried out in the thiamine diphosphate-binding site of pyruvate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex E1 component (PDHc-E1) to clarify the potential antibacterial mechanism against E. coli. Peptides are one of the leading groups of compounds that have been the subject of a great deal of biological research and still continue to attract researchers\" attention. In this study, a series of tripeptides based on tyrosine amino acids were synthesized by the triazine method. The cytotoxicity properties of all compounds against human cancer cell lines (MCF-7), ovarian (A2780), prostate (PC-3), and colon cancer cell lines (Caco-2) were determined by the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay method, and % cell viability and logIC50 values of the compounds were calculated. Significant decreases in cell viability were observed in all cells (p < 0.05). The comet assay method was used to understand that the compounds that showed a significant decrease in cell viability had this effect through DNA damage. Most of the compounds exhibited cytotoxicity by DNA damage mechanism. Besides, their interactions between investigated molecule groups with PDB ID: 3VHE, 3C0R, 2ZCL, and 2HQ6 target proteins corresponding to cancer cell lines, respectively, were investigated by docking studies. Finally, molecules with high biological activity against biological receptors were determined by ADME analysis.

In this study, using a new polymer combination of Chitosan(CH)/Xanthan Gum(XG) has been exhibited for wound dressing implementation by the 3D-Printing method, which was fabricated due to its biocompatible, biodegradable, improved mechanical strength, low degradation rate, and hydrophilic nature to develop cell-mimicking, cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. Different concentrations of XG were added to the CH solution as 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1, and 2 wt% respectively in the formic acid/distilled water (1.5:8.5) solution and rheologically characterized to evaluate their printability. The results demonstrated that high mechanical strength, hydrophilic properties, and slow degradation rate were observed with the presence and increment of XG concentration within the 3D-Printed patches. Moreover, in vitro cell culture research was conducted by seeding NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells on the patches, proving the cell proliferation rate, viability, and adhesion. Finally, 1% XG and 4% CH containing 3D-Printed patches were great potential for wound dressing applications.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is one of the important legume crops and is cultivated large-scale throughout Turkiye as well as the world. Ascochyta blight, caused by the fungal phytopathogen Ascochyta rabiei, is the leading reason for the highest yield losses among the diseases known for chickpea. The pathogen exhibits high genetic diversity in Turkiye. Therefore, resistancy using Sequence Tagged Microsatellite Site (STMS) markers related with the genes that provide resistance against Ascochyta blight was investigated for the 205 chickpea breeding lines grown in different parts of Turkiye. The analysis for Ascochyta blight resistance was performed using Ta2, Ta146 and Ts54. It was demonstrated that Ta2, Ts54 and Ta146 were the STMS markers having distinguishable features for the detection of Ascochyta blight resistance and were shown to be used in credible fashion for the selection of resistant chickpea breeding lines.

Abstract: Some novel triazole-bearing ketone and oxime derivatives were synthesized from Ibuprofen. In vitro cytotoxic activities of all synthesized molecules against five cancer lines (human breast cancer MCF-7, human lung cancer A549, human prostate cancer PC-3, human cervix cancer HeLa, and human chronic myelogenous leukemia K562 cell lines) were evaluated by MTT assay. In addition, mouse embryonic fibroblast cells (NIH/3T3) were also evaluated to determine the selectivity. Compounds 18, 36, and 45 were found to be the most cytotoxic, and their IC50 values were in the range of 17.46–68.76 µM, against the tested cancer cells. According to the results, compounds 7 and 13 demonstrated good anti-inflammatory activity against the microsomal enzyme prostaglandin E2 synthase-1 (mPGES-1) enzyme at IC50 values of 13.6 and 4.95 µM. The low cytotoxicity and non-mutagenity of these compounds were found interesting. Also, these compounds significantly prevented tube formation in angiogenesis studies. In conclusion, the anti-inflammatory and angiogenesis inhibitory activities of these compounds without toxicity suggested that they may be promising agents in anti-inflammatory treatment and they may be supportive agents for the cancer treatment. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), based on the elevating obesity incidence, is one of the major health issue worldwide. Transition from NAFLD to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is driven by increased apoptosis and is relevant to higher morbidity rates. In regard to limited understanding on cholesterol mediated hepatocyte alterations in NALFD/NASH transition, we investigated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and related apoptosis. Our findings suggest that cholesterol upregulates ER stress and enhances C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) either in hypercholesterolemic rabbits or in hepatocytes treated with liposome-cholesterol complex. Mechanistically, cholesterol accumulation in hepatocytes activates IRE1/p38 branch of ER stress, stimulating CHOP levels. In liver tissues of cholesterol fed rabbits, α-tocopherol supplementation decreased IRE1/p38/CHOP activation and prevented NASH development. Thus, our study provides a critical role of hepatocyte cholesterol in inducing IRE1/p38/CHOP pathway and suggests novel candidates for therapeutic targets against NASH.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease of motor neurons that mainly affects the motor cortex, brainstem, and spinal cord. Under disease conditions, microglia could possess two distinct profiles, M1 (toxic) and M2 (protective), with the M2 profile observed at disease onset. SOD1 (superoxide dismutase 1) gene mutations account for up to 20% of familial ALS cases. Comparative gene expression differences in M2-protective (early) stage SOD1(G93A) microglia and age-matched SOD1(G93A) motor neurons are poorly understood. We evaluated the differential gene expression profiles in SOD1(G93A) microglia and SOD1(G93A) motor neurons utilizing publicly available transcriptomics data and bioinformatics analyses, constructed biomolecular networks around them, and identified gene clusters as potential drug targets. Following a drug repositioning strategy, 5 small compounds (belinostat, auranofin, BRD-K78930611, AZD-8055, and COT-10b) were repositioned as potential ALS therapeutic candidates that mimic the protective state of microglia and reverse the toxic state of motor neurons. We anticipate that this study will provide new insights into the ALS pathophysiology linking the M2 state of microglia and drug repositioning.

The results of secondary structure prediction methods are widely used in applications in biotechnology and bioinformatics. However, the accuracy limit of these methods could be improved up to 92%. One approach to achieve this goal is to harvest information from the primary structure of the peptide. This study aims to contribute to this goal by investigating the variations in propensity of amino acid pairings to alpha-helices in globular proteins depending on helix length. (n):(n + 4) residue pairings were determined using a comprehensive peptide data set according to backbone hydrogen bond criterion which states that backbone hydrogen bond is the dominant driving force of protein folding. Helix length is limited to 13 to 26 residues. Findings of this study show that propensities of ALA:GLY and GLY:GLU pairings to alpha-helix in globular protein increase with increasing helix length but of ALA:ALA and ALA:VAL decrease. While the frequencies of ILE:ALA, LEU:ALA, LEU:GLN, LEU:GLU, LEU:LEU, MET:ILE and VAL:LEU pairings remain roughly constant with length, the 25 residue pairings have varying propensities in narrow helix lengths. The remaining pairings have no prominent propensity to alpha-helices.

Objectives Heterophile antibodies can cause interferences in immunometric assays. While many tests are shown to be affected by interference from heterophilic antibodies, the D-dimer test has rarely been reported to be affected. With this case, we report an elevated D-dimer measurement which was not compatible with the clinical presentation. Case presentation A 41-year-old patient who was admitted to hospital with heart palpitations had a D-dimer elevation irrelevant to his clinical condition. D-dimer measurements were repeated in new samples directly and after being treated in heterophilic blocking tube with two different reagent lots of a latex-based automated immunoturbidimetric assay and an immunoturbidometric assay. D-dimer values were normalized (0–0.5 mg/L) when we used a new lot of reagent on the same instrument or measured by an immunoturbidometric method on the chemistry analyzer. After treatment with HBT, all samples revealed D-dimer results within the reference ranges. Conclusions The presence of heterophile antibodies in a sample should be considered when an elevated D-dimer value that is not compatible with the clinical presentation is encountered. Apart from the patient’s HA’s causing false results, sporadic susceptibility of the reagents should also be kept in mind as a possibility.

Amino acid conjugates are described by the reaction of amino acids with bioactive organic groups such as vitamins, hormones, flavonoids, steroids, and sugars. In this study, 12 new conjugates were synthesized by reaction of cinnamic acid derivatives with various amino acids. Cytotoxic studies against four different human cancer cells (MCF7, PC-3, Caco-2, and A2780) were carried out by MTT assay method at five different concentrations. The structure-activity relationships based on the cell viability rates were evaluated. To compare the anticancer activities of the compounds using computational chemistry methods, they were docked against A2780 human ovarian cancer, Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF7), human prostate cancer (PC-3) and human colon epidermal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) cell lines and compared with the standard 5-Fluorouracil. The results indicate that the efficacy of cinnamic acid derivatives increases with the presence of amino acids. A combined strategy of computational, protein engineering and cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs) approaches was performed on Bacillus lehensis G1 maltogenic amylase (Mag1) to investigate the preferred amino acids and orientation of the cross-linker in constructing stable and efficient biocatalyst. From the computational analysis, Mag1 exhibited the highest binding affinity towards chitosan (-7.5 kcal/mol) and favours having interactions with aspartic acid whereas glutaraldehyde was the least favoured (-3.4 kcal/mol) and has preferences for lysine. A total of eight Mag1 variants were constructed with either Asp or Lys substitutions on different secondary structures surface. Mutant Mag1-mDh exhibited the highest recovery activity (82.3%) in comparison to other Mag1 variants. Mutants-CLEAs exhibited higher thermal stability (20-30% activity) at 80 °C whilst Mag1-CLEAs could only retain 9% of activity at the same temperature. Reusability analysis revealed that mutants-CLEAs can be recovered up to 8 cycles whereas Mag1-CLEAs activity could only be retained for up to 6 cycles. Thus, it is evident that amino acids on the enzyme's surface play a crucial role in the construction of highly stable, efficient and recyclable CLEAs. This demonstrates the necessity to determine the preferential amino acid by the cross-linkers in advance to facilitate CLEAs immobilisation for designing efficient biocatalysts.

Bioactive peptides from milk proteins are dietary components with various biological properties and therapeutic effects in a variety of health conditions, including cancer. In this study, the effects of goat milk proteins and bioactive peptides on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line were investigated. Milk was separated into casein and Whey fractions and treated with either pepsin or trypsin enzymes. Peptides of the hydrolyzed fractions were identified with LC-QTOFF/MS. After identification, the hydrolyzed Whey and casein fractions were incubated with MCF-7 breast cancer cells at various concentrations. The in vitro cytotoxicity of hydrolyzed fractions against MCF-7 cells was tested using MTT assay and flow cytometry analysis. The dead MCF-7 cells were analyzed with LC-Q-TOF/MS. In dead MCF-7 cells, the pyruvate kinase M2, mucin 1-C, glycogen synthase kinase 3-beta, and L-lactate dehydrogenase B were found to be downregulated in the LC-Q-TOF/MS analysis, while receptor-interacting serine/ threonine-protein kinase 1 was found to be up-regulated. These enzymes and mucin-1C also interacted with the milk-derived bioactive peptides in silico. The goat milk bioactive peptides exhibited high binding affinity with these enzymes and mucin-1C. The 5 mu g mL(-1) trypsin-treated casein fraction caused the highest MCF-7 cell death. In conclusion, the bioactive peptides of the pepsin-treated casein fraction and trypsin-treated Whey fraction of goat milk may inhibit the survival of breast cancer cells and exert their effects via multiple mechanisms. The results of this study are novel, suggesting that goat milk-based specific bioactive peptides may have potential as an anti-tumour agent in the treatment of breast cancer.

Curcumin is among phytochemicals with increasing popularity; unfortunately, its therapeutic potential is restricted due to poor water solubility and bioavailability. The current work undertakes the effort to improve the therapeutic potential of curcumin by complexing it with a cell penetrating peptide using copper ions. A mononuclear complex was synthesized from copper(II) acetate and curcumin. Then this complex was conjugated to the cell penetrating peptide, pVEC. The structural characterization of the complexes was achieved using UV-Vis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies. Dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering measurements have confirmed the complexation of curcumin with the peptide to form nanoparticles. Both solubility and kinetic stability of curcumin greatly improved upon complex formation with pVEC through copper ions. Then the antibacterial activity of curcumin in the complex was tested. The amount of curcumin in the minimum inhibitory concentration was similar to 30, similar to 8, and similar to 15 fold lower, respectively for Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus when complexed with pVEC; however, this improvement was specifically noteworthy for the gram-negative E. coli since the contribution of pVEC in the complex to the observed activity was negligible in this bacterium. With enhanced solubility and stability, metallo curcumin conjugated pVEC complex possesses potential for different therapeutic applications.

Purpose: To investigate the molecular basis of recessively inherited congenital cataract, microcornea, and corneal opacification with or without coloboma and microphthalmia in two consanguineous families. Methods: Conventional autozygosity mapping was performed using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarrays. Whole-exome sequencing was completed on genomic DNA from one affected member of each family. Exome sequence data were also used for homozygosity mapping and copy number variation analysis. PCR and Sanger sequencing were used to confirm the identification of mutations and to screen further patients. Evolutionary conservation of protein sequences was assessed using CLUSTALW, and protein structures were modeled using PyMol. Results: In family MEP68, a novel homozygous nucleotide substitution in SIX6 was found, c.547G>C, that converts the evolutionarily conserved aspartic acid residue at the 183rd amino acid in the protein to a histidine, p.(Asp183His). This residue mapped to the third helix of the DNA-binding homeobox domain in SIX6, which interacts with the major groove of double-stranded DNA. This interaction is likely to be disrupted by the mutation. In family F1332, a novel homozygous 1034 bp deletion that encompasses the first exon of SIX6 was identified, chr14:g.60975890_60976923del. Both mutations segregated with the disease phenotype as expected for a recessive condition and were absent from publicly available variant databases. Objectives: Tumor angiogenesis is known to support the spread and invasion of tumor cells, allow distant organ metastasis, resulting in worse prognosis and mortality. Since vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) is the major regulator of angiogenesis, in the present study, the associations of VEGF-A +405G>C and -460C>T polymorphisms with risk, primary tumor location, prognosis, and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC) were investigated in Turkish subjects.Material and Methods: A total of 153 subjects consisting of 74 controls and 79 CRC diagnosed patients were included in the study. VEGF-A +405G>C and -460C>T polymorphisms were analyzed using Agena MassARRAY platform.Results: VEGF +405GC+CC genotypes were found to be significantly associated with left colon cancer (unadjusted odds ratio [OR] = 5.208 confidence interval [95% CI]: 1.064-25.496, p = 0.04). VEGF -460TT and CT+TT genotypes were associated with reduced liver metastasis risk (OR = 0.080 95% CI: 0.009-0.689 p = 0.02 and OR = 0.191 95% CI: 0.039-0.925, p = 0.04, respectively). Patients with VEGF +405GG genotype showed longer progression-free survival as a response to bevacizumab treatment (Log rank = 6.92, p = 0.03).Conclusion: According to our results, VEGF +405G>C and -460C>T polymorphisms were found to be associated with CRC prognosis, sidedness, and metastasis. Our findings should be conducted in further studies.

The development of new enzyme inhibitors in degenerative brain diseases has gained more attention. Enzyme inhibitors play an effective role in controlling central nervous system diseases. For this purpose, a novel series of hydrazone derivatives containing imidazolidine ring aimed against Alzheimer\"s disease (AD), have been designed and synthesized. The acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme inhibitory activity of these compounds was investigated. The structures of the compounds were determined by IR, H-1 and C-13-NMR and mass spectroscopic methods. Inhibition studies on the cholinesterase (ChE) enzymes and beta-amyloid plaque inhibition test of the compounds were performed. Based on the experimental results, compound 3j bearing dimethoxy substituent on the aromatic ring like donepezil exhibited the most AChE inhibitory activity with the IC50 values of 0.023 +/- 0.001 mu M. Owing to obtained biological activity and molecular docking study results, it is thought that the most active compound 3j may play a role in both symptomatic and palliative treatment of AD.

Intestinal mucus forms the first line of defense against bacterial invasion while providing nutrition to support microbial symbiosis. How the host controls mucus barrier integrity and commensalism is unclear. We show that terminal sialylation of glycans on intestinal mucus by ST6GALNAC1 (ST6), the dominant sialyltransferase specifically expressed in goblet cells and induced by microbial pathogen-associated molecular patterns, is essential for mucus integrity and protecting against excessive bacterial proteolytic degradation. Glycoproteomic profiling and biochemical analysis of ST6 mutations identified in patients show that decreased sialylation causes defective mucus proteins and congenital inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Mice harboring a patient ST6 mutation have compromised mucus barriers, dysbiosis, and susceptibility to intestinal inflammation. Based on our understanding of the ST6 regulatory network, we show that treatment with sialylated mucin or a Foxo3 inhibitor can ameliorate IBD.

Kidney stone, also known as calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis, is one of the most common diseases worldwide. Calculi usually forms when urine becomes supersaturated with particular calcium salts such as calcium oxalate. In the present study, we investigated the ameliorative potential of the root extract of the Common golden thistle, Scolymus hispanicus L. (SH) on rats with ethylene glycol (EG) induced kidney stone disease. Sprague-Dawley rats, each weighing 250-300 g, were divided into three groups (n=6 per group): (i) Control (C); (ii) EG; and (iii) EG+SH. To induce nephrolithiasis, the rats received 1% of EG with drinking water, while the C group received normal drinking water during the study. SH extract 2 g/kg was added to the treatment from the 4th week onwards in EG+SH group. At the end of each experiment, rats were decapacitated and serum levels of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were assessed in all groups at 0, 4, and 8 weeks. Oxalic acid and creatininelevels were measured in urine samples collected at 24 h in metabolic cages. Renal tissues were evaluated histopathologically at the end of the experiment. After 8 weeks, serum creatinine levels were found decreased in the SH group while increased in the EG group. Serum magnesium and AST levels were also found decreased in the EG group, however, SH treatment reversed these values. The SH treatment also increased urinary oxalic acid levels. When the kidney tissue of EG group was examined, there was a high level of crystal/stone, especially in the renal cortex. In kidney tissues of the SH group, only small amounts of crystal/stone were observed. Our experimental findings have demonstrated the ameliorative potential of the aqueous extracts of S. hispanicus roots and shells on EG-induced in the kidney stones in rats. Isolation of active compounds of SH would be desirable to understand the biochemical mechanism behind the process better.

All rights reserved.Objective: By inhibiting the synthesis of thymidine and purine, and thereby DNA synthesis, Methotrexate (MTX), suppresses the proliferation of cancer cells. It is thought that the side-effect mechanism is related to oxidant molecules derived from MTX metabolism. In this study, we examined whether the Petroselinum crispum extracts (PCr; parsley) of which the antioxidant properties have been previously shown, was protective against MTX induced liver damage. Materials and Methods: Sprague Dawley rats (female/male; 200-250 g) were used. MTX was injected intraperitoneally and PCr extract was given orally. A single dose of 20mg/kg MTX was administered to the groups that were to experience hepatotoxicity. Then, a physiological saline (MTX group) or PCr (2 g/kg, MTX + PCr group) treatment was applied for 5 days. The same treatments were applied to the other groups (control group, PCr group) for 5 days after a single dose saline injection. At the end of the study, the biochemical parameters were examined in the blood and liver tissues taken from animals sacrificed by decapitation. Results: MTX caused a significant increase in malondialdehyde and collagen levels and myeloperoxidase and caspase-3 activities, while glutathione levels were found to have decreased. PCr treatment showed protective efficacy by preventing these increases. Conclusion: It appears that the administration of PCr to MTX treated rats prevented the accumulation of lipid peroxides, inflamatory reactions and depletion of antioxidant glutathione, and thus protected liver tissues against oxidative stress.

In this study, the methanolic and infusion extracts of two species, Thymbra capitata and Thymus sipyleus subsp. rosulans, were tested for their chemical composition and biological abilities (antioxidant, enzyme inhibitory and anti-inflammatory effects). The extracts yielded total phenolic and flavonoid contents in the range of 83.43–127.52 mg GAE/g and 9.41–46.34 mg RE/g, respectively. HPLC analysis revealed rosmarinic acid to be a major component of the studied extracts (15.85–26.43%). The best ABTS radical scavenging ability was observed in the methanol extract of T. capitata with 379.11 mg TE/g, followed by in the methanol extract of T. sipylus (360.93 mg TE/g). In the CUPRAC assay, the highest reducing ability was also found in the methanol extract of T. capitata with 802.22 mg TE/g. The phosphomolybdenum ability ranged from 2.39 to 3.61 mmol TE/g. In terms of tyrosinase inhibitory effects, the tested methanol extracts (83.18–89.66 mg KAE/g) were higher than the tested water extracts (18.74–19.11 mg KAE/g). Regarding the BChE inhibitory effects, the methanol extracts were active on the enzyme while the water extracts showed no inhibitory effect on it. Overall, the methanolic extracts showed better enzyme inhibition compared to the infusion extracts. Molecular docking also showed the selected exhibited potential binding affinities with all enzymes, with a preference for cholinesterases. Additionally, the extracts were effective in attenuating the LPS-induced increase in COX-2 and IL-6 gene expression in isolated colon, thus indicating promising anti-inflammatory effects. The preliminary results of this study suggest that these species are good natural sources of antioxidants and also provide some scope as enzyme inhibitors, most likely due to their bioactive contents such as phenolic acids, and thus can be exploited for different applications related to health promotion and disease prevention.

(MoC) ethanolic extract on ulcerative colitis (UC) and was explored in vitro and in vivo. Materials and Methods: The rats were divided into control (C), saline-treated colitis (AA), MoC extract-treated colitis (AA+MoC), and sulfasalazine (SS)-treated colitis (AA+SS) groups. Colitis was induced by acetic acid. MoC extract, SS or saline were given to the related groups for 3 days. Interleukine-1β, malondialdehyde, glutathione levels, myeloperoxidase activity, bax/bcl-2 ratio, caspase-9 and caspase-3 levels were measured in colon and macroscopic and histopathologic examinations were done. Total phenolic/flavonoid content and biological activity of MoC were evaluated by in vitro analysis. Results: Compared to the control group, with acetic acid application interleukin-1β levels, myeloperoxidase activity, malondialdehyde levels, bax/bcl-2 ratio, caspase-9 and caspase-3 levels were significantly upregulated, while glutathione levels were significantly decreased in the AA group. In contrast, MoC and SS treatments reduced interleukin-1β, malondialdehyde levels, myeloperoxidase activity, bax/bcl-2 ratio, and caspase-9 and caspase-3 levels. Glutathione levels increased upon MoC or SS treatment. Increased macroscopic and microscopic scoring with AA improved with MoC or SS treatment, but the MoC or SS treated groups had higher score values than the control. Also, in vitro results showed that MoC exhibited 2,2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl and 2,2\"-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radical scavenging activity as well as significant antilipoxygenase activity. In addition, MoC extract showed a potent anti-inflammatory activity compared to standard indomethacin. Conclusion: Our biochemical, in vitro and histopathologic analysis indicate that MoC is likely to prove beneficial in UC therapy.
