This article presents a study on procedural terrain generation using Perlin noise in the Unity game engine, building upon prior research and established techniques [1,2]. The objective of the this study is to create realistic and visually appealing landscapes by leveraging algorithmic generation [3]. By utilizing a two dimensional monochrome Perlin noise map, the algorithm generates terrains with organic features such as hills, valleys, and mountains [4]. The research employs the Unity game engine, which offers a wide range of tools and technologies for implementing procedural generation algorithms [5]. The performance analysis conducted during this study yielded important insights. The execution time test revealed that the algorithm's execution time increased significantly with larger grid sizes, emphasizing the need to consider the scale and resolution of the terrains [6]. This finding highlights the trade-off between generating detailed terrains and the time required for the algorithm to complete its computations. Additionally, the memory usage test demonstrated a quadratic relationship between memory usage and grid size, indicating the necessity of efficient memory management [7] for generating higher-resolution terrains. Optimizing memory usage is crucial to avoid excessive consumption and ensure efficient resource utilization. These findings from the performance analysis provide valuable guidance for optimizing and refining the algorithm discussed in this article. Techniques such as algorithmic refinements, parallelization [8,6], and memory optimization strategies can be employed to reduce execution times and minimize memory overhead. By understanding the algorithm's performance characteristics and leveraging the insights gained from the analysis, developers can make informed decisions to generate visually compelling and diverse landscapes within the Unity game engine.

For some time, there has been a strong interest in the ethics of banking (Molyneaux, 2007; George, 1992), as well as the moral complexity of fraudulent behavior (Clarke, 1994). Fraud means obtaining services/goods and/or money by unethical means, and is a growing problem all over the world nowadays. Fraud deals with cases involving criminal purposes that, mostly, are difficult to identify. Credit cards are one of the most famous targets of fraud but not the only one; fraud can occur with any type of credit products, such as personal loans, home loans, and retail. Furthermore, the face of fraud has changed dramatically during the last few decades as technologies have changed and developed. A critical task to help businesses and financial institutions including banks is to take steps to prevent fraud and to deal with it efficiently and effectively, when it does happen (Anderson, 2007). Anderson (2007) has identified and explained the different types of fraud, which are as many and varied as the financial institution’s products and technologies, such as Transaction products: credit and debit cards and checks, Relationship to accounts first, second and third parties, Business processes: application and transaction, Manner and timing short versus long term, Identify misrepresentation: embellishment, theft and fabrication, Handling of transaction: lost or stolen, not received, skimming and at hand, Utilization counterfeit, not present, altered or unaltered, Technologies ATM and Internet. Solutions for integrating sequential information in the feature set exist in the literature. The predominant one consists in creating a set of features which are descriptive statistics obtained by aggregating the sequences of transactions of the cardholders (sum of amount, count of transactions, location from where the payment is being made etc..). We used this method as a benchmark feature engineering method for credit card fraud detection. However, this feature engineering strategy raised several research questions. First of all, we assumed that these descriptive statistics cannot fully describe the sequential properties of fraud and genuine patterns and that modelling the sequences of transactions could be beneficial for fraud detection. Moreover, the creation of these aggregated features is guided by expert knowledge whereas sequence modelling could be automated thanks to the class labels available for past transactions. Finally, the aggregated features are point estimates that may be complemented by a multi-perspective univariate description of the transaction context. We proposed a multi-perspective HMM-based automated feature engineering strategy in order to incorporate a broad spectrum of sequential information in the transactions feature sets. In fact, we model the genuine and fraudulent behaviors of the merchants and the card-holders according to two univariate features: the country from where the payment is being made and the amount of each of the transactions being made. Moreover, the HMMbased features are created in a supervised way and therefore lower the need of expert knowledge for the creation of the fraud detection system. In the end, our multiple perspectives HMM-based approach offers automated feature engineering to model temporal correlations so as to complement and possibly supplement the use of transaction aggregation strategies in order to improve the effectiveness of the classification task. Experiments conducted on a large real world credit card transaction dataset (46 million transactions from belgium card-holders between March and May 2015) have shown that the proposed HMMbased feature engineering allows for an increase in the detection of fraudulent transactions when combined with the state-ofthe-art expert-based feature engineering strategy for credit card fraud detection. To conclude, this work leads to a better understanding of what can be considered contextual knowledge for a credit card fraud detection task and how to include it in the classification task in order to get an increase in fraud detection. The method proposed can be extended to any supervised task with sequential datasets. The main aims are, firstly, to identify the different types of credit card fraud, and, secondly, to review alternative techniques that have been used in fraud detection. Indeed, transaction products, including credit cards, are the most vulnerable to fraud. On the other hand, other products such as personal loans and retail are also at risk, and have serious ethical conflicts. Chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are among the most prominent threats to the human population, our peace, and social stability. Therefore, their detection and quantification are of utmost importance to ensure the security and protection of mankind. In recent years, significant developments have been made in supramolecular chemistry, analytical chemistry, and molecular sensors, which have improved our capability to detect CWAs. Fluorescent and colorimetric chemosensors are attractive tools that allow the selective, sensitive, cheap, portable, and real-time analysis of the potential presence of CWAs, where suitable combinations of selective recognition and transduction can be integrated. In this review, we provide a detailed discussion on recently reported molecular sensors with a specific focus on the sensing of each class of CWAs such as nerve agents, blister agents, blood agents, and other toxicants. We will also discuss the current technology used by military forces, and these discussions will include the type of instrumentation and established protocols. Finally, we will conclude this review with our outlook on the limitations and challenges in the area and summarize the potential of promising avenues for this field.

A new series of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-coumarin hybrid has been developed by combining two biologically active pharmacophores coumarin and imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine following a Groebke–Blackburn–Bienayme multicomponent reaction (MCR). Molecular docking studies of these novel compounds with nonstructural protein 5B (NS5B) exhibited promising binding interactions by forming hydrogen bond at Ser476, Trp528, Arg422 and Arg501, directly and hydrophobic contacts with Leu419, Ile482, Leu497, Leu489, Met423, Leu474 and His475, which are potentially useful for a new scaffold discovery.

An unprecedent, efficient, and convenient lab-scale protocol for stable deuteration of Mesalamine, with mixed catalyst 10% Pd/C (10 wt %) and 10% Pt/C (25 wt %) at 145 °C, using D2O as deuterium source, in hydrogen atmosphere, is reported. This paper reports on the potentiometric response characteristics of gallium electrodes coated with native or anodic oxide layers in aqueous solutions. Solid metallic gallium electrodes were prepared by cooling liquid gallium monoliths supported either on planar silicon substrates or incorporated within glass capillaries. These metallic gallium electrodes showed potentiometric pH responses with a slope of ca. -38 mV/pH in the pH range between 3 and 9. The potentials measured could originate from redox processes involving surface oxide that was formed as a result of reactions between the metallic gallium and water (and/or OH−), as observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Similar potentiometric measurements were examined for planar and capillary-incorporated gallium electrodes that were anodized in ice-cooled aqueous H2SO4 at 10 V. Although the resulting nanoporous anodic oxide-coated electrodes did not initially show potentiometric pH responses, they exhibited pH responses with a smaller response slope (ca. -30 mV/pH; pH 3∼9) after potentiometric measurements in a solution of pH ≤ 3. This observation could be explained by the acid-induced dissolution of an oxide-based barrier layer that passivated the underlying gallium electrode. This explanation was compatible with the observation of an additional gallium oxide layer over the nanoporous anodic oxide after the potentiometric pH measurements. Interestingly, in contrast to the metallic gallium electrodes, the anodic oxide-coated electrodes exhibited potentiometric Nernstian responses to SO42− at ≥ 10−4 M, reflecting the presence of sulfate doped into the oxide during the anodization. These results provide fundamental knowledge required to design miniaturized electroanalytical probes based on gallium electrodes.

Adsorption of a series of primary substituted hydrocarbons (RX; C18H37PO(OH)2 (ODPA), C17H35COOH, C18H37OH, C18H37NH2, and C18H37SH) onto solid gallium substrates with and without UV/ozone treatment was studied using contact angle goniometry, spectroscopic ellipsometry, and cyclic voltammetry (CV). UV/ozone treatment offered a hydrophilic surface (water contact angle (θ(water)) less than 10°), reflecting the formation of a surface oxide layer with the maximum thickness of ca. 1 nm and possibly the removal of surface contaminants. Upon immersion in a toluene solution of a RX, θ(water) increased due to adsorption of the RX onto gallium substrates. In particular, UV/ozone-treated gallium substrates (UV-Ga) immersed in an ODPA solution exhibited θ(water) close to 105°. The ellipsometric thickness of the adsorbed ODPA layer was ca. 2.4 nm, and CV data measured in an acetonitrile solution showed significant inhibition of redox reaction on the substrate surface. These results indicate the formation of a densely packed ODPA monolayer on UV-Ga. The coverage of a C17H35COOH layer adsorbed onto UV-Ga was lower, as shown by smaller θ(water) (ca. 99°), smaller ellipsometric thickness (ca. 1.3 nm), and smaller electrode reaction inhibition. Adsorption of the other RX onto UV-Ga was weaker, as indicated by smaller θ(water) (82°-92°). ODPA did not strongly adsorb onto UV-untreated gallium substrates, suggesting that the ODPA adsorption mainly originates from hydrogen bond interaction of a phosphonate group with surface oxide. These results will provide a means for controlling the surface properties of oxide-coated gallium that play an essential role in monolayer conductivity measurements and electroanalytical applications.

One-pot synthesis of 3,4-diaryl substituted 2(5H)-furanones was established and its commercial application has been demonstrated by accomplishing total synthesis of rofecoxib, under mild reaction conditions, with good yields and purity.

This paper reports cyclic voltammograms of cytochrome c on recessed nanodisk-array electrodes (RNEs) based on nanoporous films (11, 14 or 24 nm in average pore diameter; 30 nm thick) derived from polystyrene-poly(methylmethacrylate) diblock copolymers. The faradic current of cytochrome c was observed on RNEs, indicating the penetration of cytochrome c (hydrodynamic diameter ≈ 4 nm) through the nanopores to the underlying electrodes. The faradic current on RNEs with 11- and 14-nm nanopores mainly originated from cytochrome c adsorbed on the underlying electrodes, whereas the current on RNEs with 24-nm pores was diffusion-controlled. Interestingly, the diffusion-controlled current of cytochrome c was significantly smaller than that estimated from the faradic current of 1,1′-ferrocenedimethanol on the RNEs. The smaller faradic current suggested more effective decrease in the diffusion coefficient of cytochrome c as compared to that of 1,1′-ferrocenedimethanol, which probably reflected enhanced steric and chemical interactions within the nanopores. Comparison between experimental data and results of finite-element computer simulations made it possible to assess the structure of the nanoporous films and the diffusion coefficients of redox species within the nanopores.

In this paper we report electrochemical investigations of the influence of organic solvents dissolved in aqueous solution on the permeability of nanoporous films derived from a cylinder-forming polystyrene-poly(methyl methacrylate) diblock copolymer (CF-PS-b-PMMA). The nanoporous films (ca. 30 nm in pore diameter) were prepared on planar gold electrodes via UV-based degradation of the cylindrical PMMA domains of annealed CF-PS-b-PMMA films (30-45 nm thick). The permeability of the electrode-supported nanoporous films was assessed using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The faradic current of Fe(CN)(6)(3-/4-) decreased upon immersion in aqueous solutions saturated with toluene or methylene chloride (5.8 mM and 0.20 M, respectively). EIS data indicated that the decrease in faradic current mainly reflected an increase in the pore resistance (R(pore)). In contrast, R(pore) did not change in a saturated n-heptane solution, 0.17 M ethanol, or 5.8 mM aqueous solutions of methylene chloride, diethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, or ethanol. Atomic force microscopy images of a nanoporous film in aqueous solution with and without 5.8 mM toluene showed a reversible change in the surface morphology, which was consistent with a toluene-induced change in R(pore). The solvent-induced increase in R(pore) was attributed to the swelling of the nanoporous films by the organic solvents, which decreased the effective pore diameter. The reversible permeability changes suggest that the surface of CF-PS-b-PMMA-derived nanoporous films can be functionalized in organic environments without destroying the nanoporous structure. In addition, the solvent-induced swelling may provide a simple means for controlling the permeability of such nanoporous films.

Synthesis of structurally novel and biologically useful 3′-substituted diaryl ethers employing Cu(0) as a catalyst, followed by regioselective either sulfonylation or carbonylation, is described.

A number of analogues of diaryl dihydropyrazole-3-carboxamides have been synthesized. Their activities were evaluated for appetite suppression and body weight reduction in animal models. Depending on the chemical modification of the selected dihydropyrazole scaffold, the lead compounds--the bisulfate salt of (+/-)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid morpholin-4-ylamide 26 and the bisulfate salt of (-)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid morpholin-4-ylamide 30--showed significant body weight reduction in vivo, which is attributed to their CB1 antagonistic activity and exhibited a favorable pharmacokinetic profile. The molecular modeling studies also showed interactions of two isomers of (+/-)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid morpholin-4-ylamide 9 with CB1 receptor in the homology model similar to those of N-piperidino-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-methyl-3-pyrazole-carboxamide (rimonabant) 1 and 4S-(-)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-methyl-N'-[(4-chlorophenyl)-sulfonyl]-4-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-1-carboxamidine (SLV-319) 2.

The synthesis of the title spirodione, a new class of auxiliary based chiral synthon, using (−)-menthone having a unique carbon-carbon bond is described. Diels-Alder reactions were carried out with variety of dienes using the title auxiliary as a chiral dienophile in the presence of diethyl aluminium chloride as Lewis acid catalyst to afford the cycloadduct with good diastereoselectivity. The configurations of the chiral synthon and cycloadducts were determined by X-ray crystallography. Methodology for detachment of the chiral auxiliary from the cycloadducts has been developed.

[5.3.1] Propellanes e.g., the tricyclo[5.3.1.0 1,7 ]undeca-2,4-dien-10-one 8 and the corresponding methylidene compound 10 were prepared from methyl cinnamate 2 in several steps involving rhodium(II) acetate mediated cyclization of 4 to 6 as a key step. The selective central cyclopropyl bond cleavage in 8 and 10 by lead tetraacetate provides the basis of a new approach to the construction of carbocyclic frame of A,B ring of Taxol.

The reaction of either endo or exo tetracyclo[10.2.n.0 2,11 .0 4,9 ]penta deca-4,5,7,13-tetraene-3,10-diones with Sml 2 led to efficient formation of oxidized title quinones.

The acylphosphoranes 5 formed in a highly selective and sequential manner from the reaction of N-substituted anthranilic acids 1 and N-phenyl(triphenylphosphoranylidene)ethenimine 2 undergo intramolecular Wittig cyclization on the imide carbonyl to afford the pyrrolo- and pyrido[1,2-a]quinolones 6 in moderate to good yields.

The chemoselective reduction of vinylogous thioesters of thiochromones 3 into thiochromanones 4 is described.

Starting from (−)-menthol, two useful precursors for the formal total synthesis of (+)-Artemisinin, involving novel OH-assisted chemo and stereoselective CH functionalisation and subsequent acid/base induced chemo-selective ring opening as key steps, have been synthesised.

A variety of adjacent cyclobutyl ketones have been subjected to a new photoelectron transfer (PET) conditions, i.e., photolysis in a protic and polar solvent EtOH with triethyl amine. The cleavage of cyclobutane ketyl radical is highly substrate specific. An interesting wavelength dependence (irradiation at 254nm vs 300nm) phenomenon has been uncovered. The nature of chemical transformation has been shown to be a function of mode of generation of ketyl radicals. In continuation, the cleavage of even adjacent cyclopentane ring is postulated to account for our recently discovered novel isomerization of Diels-Alder endo-isomers to exo-adducts under PET conditions, which is quite unprecedented.

Irradiation of Diels–Alder endo adducts with triethylamine in ethanol at 300 nm furnishes high yields (>90%) of the corresponding exo-isomers.

Photolysis of the enones 4a–c leads to regioselective hydrogen abstraction and subsequent cyclization to furnish the spiro compounds 5a–d, which on further elaboration provide the spiro dione 6, a model for the antitumour antibiotic, fredericamycin-A 1.

Irradiation of a solution of ethanol containing Diels–Alder cycloadducts and 10–20% (by volume) triethylamine at 300 nm furnishes quantitative yield (>90%) of corresponding exo isomers. A probable mechanism based on photo-induced electron transfer (PET) has been described.

Carbonyl compounds are thioacetalized by 1,2-ethanedithiol in presence of H-Y zeolite in almost quantitative yields (≫90%).

The reaction of S-acyl(aroyl)thiosalicylic acids 2 with N-phenyl(triphenylphosphoranylidene)ethenimine 3 in stepwise fashion leads to the acylphosphoranes 5 which subsequently undergo intramolecular Wittig cyclization on the thiolester carbonyl to afford the 4H-1-benzothiopyran-4-ones 7 in excellent yields.

Photolysis of various conjugated cyclopropyl and epoxy ketones in 20% triethyl amine (TEA) and ethanol leads to cleavage of cyclopropyl bond. Significant wavelength dependence phenomenon is observed during photolysis for the cleanliness and efficient photo transformation. Steroidal cyclopropyl ketones cleave efficiently at 300nm photolysis, whereas exo-cyclopropyl ketones cleave at 254nm. The regiochemistry of cyclopropyl bond cleavage is governed by the principle of maximum overlap. The nature of chemistry generated by ketyl radical is shown to be a function of methodology of their generation.

An expeditious stereoselective synthesis of sex pheromone (±)3,5-cis-dimethyl-6-trans-isopropyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyran-2-one of larval parasitoid M. grandii, from readily available isobutyraldehyde and furan is described.

A variety of hydroxy compounds react with methoxymethyl chloride in the presence of catalytic amount of Na-Y zeolite to afford the corresponding methoxymethyl ethers (MOM ethers) in excellent yields.

Titanium silicate molecular sieve, having MFI (TS-1) topology, efficiently catalyses the oxidative cleavage of various tosylhydrazones to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in moderate to good yields, using dilute hydrogen peroxide (30%) as an oxidising agent and involving a unique electrophilic species; mechanistically, the intermediacy of oxaziridine has been established.

This study describes successful method development and separation of two stereo isomers of 2-[4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl]-3-(3(R)-oxocyclopentyl)propanoic acid by reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Baseline resolution was achieved on a J'sphere-ODS-H80 (150 mm × 4.6 mm, 4 μm) column using mobile phase consisting of 0.05% triflouroacetic acid in water-acetonitrile (85:15, v/v) at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. The detection was carried out at 228 nm. The title compound, in turn, can be obtained by C-alkylation of methyl 2-[4-(methylthio)phenyl]acetate with 2(S)-iodomethyl-8,8-dimethyl-6,10-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane followed by consecutive hydrolysis and oxidation. The partially validated analytical method (system suitability, peak homogeneity, linearity, precision, robustness, and solution stability) has limit of detection and limit of quantification, 0.15 and 0.50 μg/ml respectively. Alternatively, the new method is being routinely utilized to monitor epimerization of α-carbon of the propanoic acid in the title compound by crystallization-induced dynamic resolution.
