This study explored low self-confidence in elementary school male students and strategies to overcome it. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach, focusing on 18 fifth grade students. Data collection methods included interviews, classroom observations, and self-confidence questionnaires. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing). The results showed that most male students lacked confidence in solo dancing but were confident in groups. The inhibiting factors included lack of previous experience, discomfort in front of peers, fear of judgment, lack of support and encouragement, and lack of practice and preparation. To overcome these issues, inclusive learning strategies, support, and a supportive environment are essential. Eliminating gender stereotypes in dance education is also important. The implications of this study underscore the need to create a positive and inclusive environment for male students to develop their confidence and interest in dance. It is expected that their participation and involvement in arts activities at school will increase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Medium of Instruction (MoI) used in teaching basic level students plays a significant role in their overall development. It is controversial whether students’ native language or English is more effective for teaching students who study at the basic level. Nonetheless, many community schools are switching their MoI from Nepali, the country's official language, to English. The current descriptive phenomenological research aims to investigate basic level English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers' perspectives on English Medium Instruction (EMI) at the basic level. Nine basic level EFL teachers who have been teaching at different community schools in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, Banke district, participated in the research. I used non-random judgmental sampling to select the sample. The data was collected using unstructured interview. The interviews were conducted in face-to-face mode and each of the interviews was audio recorded, transcribed, and then thematized. The outcomes of the research were presented and discussed utilizing descriptive and qualitative data analysis techniques. The results indicated that EMI has been mandated despite the fact that instructors lack the confidence to implement it in the classroom. Based on the results, it can be stated that EMI should be implemented with thorough planning, preparation, and consultation with teachers and other directly and indirectly engaged stakeholders in particular schools.

The article examines the contradictions that caused the need for digital support for the process of learning the musical culture of China by future music teachers of Russia. In search of approaches to the development of such software, the authors come to the idea of the expediency of creating an electronic educational resource “Musical Culture of China”. The methodological basis for determining its content and structure was the musicological, psychological and pedagogical approaches. In their entirety, they provide a multivector characteristic of the identity of Chinese musical culture, its national characteristics. This resource has two levels, basic and advanced. When describing each of them, the justification of their block modular construction and the pedagogical purpose of all the selected structural components are given. At the basic level, students get acquainted with the predominantly knowledge component. The content of the advanced level is aimed at expanding the acquired knowledge and their practical application. The work with this electronic educational resource helps to increase the readiness of future teachers to implement the acquired knowledge and practical skills in their professional activities when introducing students to Chinese musical culture in musical instrumental, musicalplastic and vocalchoral activities.

Categories can affect our perception of the world, rendering between-category differences more salient than within-category ones. Across many studies, such categorical perception (CP) has been observed for the basic-level categories of one's native language. Other research points to categorical distinctions beyond the basic level, but it does not demonstrate CP for such distinctions. Here we provide such a demonstration. Specifically, we show CP in English speakers for the non-basic distinction between "warm" and "cool" colors, claimed to represent the earliest stage of color lexicon evolution. Notably, the advantage for discriminating colors that straddle the warm-cool boundary was restricted to the right visual field-the same behavioral signature previously observed for basic-level categories. This pattern held in a replication experiment with increased power. Our findings show that categorical distinctions beyond the basic-level repertoire of one's native language are psychologically salient and may be spontaneously accessed during normal perceptual processing.

The aim of this research is to identify experimentally the structure (primarily the central zone) of two basic level categories in the Ukrainian speakers minds: PARKAN and MUR. To rich such an aim, two psycholinguistic experiments were developed and conducted. Within the first experiment the respondents were asked to determine whether the object on the picture belongs to the category PARKAN. Within the second one they were asked to determine whether the object on the picture belongs to the category MUR. For each experiment 75 images of the objects with similar functions and perceptual features were selected. The respondents had to choose integers 1-2-3 under the image, where 3 means that the object enters into the category, and 1 means that the object doesn't enter into the category. In the options of responses there was the possibility of partial and complete discrepancy between the word that names the category and the image. The total number of completed Google forms is 846, the total number of the received responses - 12690. The second experiment also took into account the estimates of the respondents from the control group which included 18 historians, architects and restorers. The scaling method was used to process the results: each object received an average score which determined its place in the structure of the category. The central zone of both categories includes objects with a score of 2.75 and higher. By analyzing the perceptual and functional features of the objects of the central zone we have formed a verbal description of the prototypes of the categories PARKAN and MUR. During the processing of experimental data there were found the differences in the principles of formation of the central zones of categories. This is related to the role of these objects in the modern anthropogenic landscape. The assignment of a certain artifact to the category PARKAN is influenced by two factors: perceptual features and function that a person derives from external features due to his/her background knowledge. When categorizing an object as a typical MUR not only perceptual features and function are important, but also information that goes beyond current knowledge about the world, namely knowledge about the status and functions of reality in the past. It is believed that information about the cultural and historical role of reality occupies an important place in the structure of the concept but our research has shown that such knowledge can affect the content and structure of not only concepts but also categories of consciousness.

Nominal reference is very flexible—the same object may becalled a dalmatian, a dog, or an animal when all are literallytrue. What accounts for the choices that speakers make in howthey refer to objects? The addition of modifiers (e.g. big dog)has been extensively explored in the literature, but fewer stud-ies have explored the choice of noun, including its level of ab-straction. We collected freely produced referring expressionsin a multi-player reference game experiment, where we ma-nipulated the object’s context. We find that utterance choiceis affected by the contextual informativeness of a description, its length and frequency, and the typicality of the object forthat description. Finally, we show how these factors naturallyenter into a formal model of production within the RationalSpeech-Acts framework, and that the resulting model predictsour quantitative production data.

Previous research on basic-level object categories shows thereis cross-cultural variation in basic-level concepts, arguingagainst the idea that the basic level reflects an objectivereality. In this paper, I extend the investigation to the domainof events. More specifically, I present a case study of verbs ofingestion in Maniq illustrating a highly specific categorizationof ingestion events at the basic level. A detailed analysis ofthese verbs reveals they tap into culturally salient notions.Yet, cultural salience alone cannot explain specificity ofbasic-level verbs, since ingestion is a domain of universalhuman experience. Further analysis reveals, however, thatanother key factor is the language itself. Maniq’s preferencefor encoding specific meaning in basic-level verbs is not apeculiarity of one domain, but a recurrent characteristic of itsverb lexicon, pointing to the significant role of the languagesystem in the structure of event concepts.

PSYCHOLOGICAL literature , *CONCEPTS - Abstract
We exploit the framework developed in the first part of our paper to examine significant approaches to the basic level of concepts proposed in psychological literature. These approaches are mostly presented informally in the literature and we hence provide their formalization. Our formalization and experiments reveal previously unknown relationships between existing approaches to basic level, some of which contradict current psychological beliefs. We argue that from a general perspective, formalization of basic level and related phenomena in the framework of formal concept analysis is beneficial for psychological explorations themselves because it helps put them on a solid ground. CONCEPTS , *DATA analysis - Abstract
Basic level of concepts represents a significant, thoroughly explored psychological phenomenon in the psychology of concepts. We argue that formal concept analysis provides a convenient formal framework for considerations regarding the basic level. In this first part of our study, we present a direct formalization of a rudimentary view of basic level due to Rosch. We also demonstrate by experiments that among all formal concepts the basic level concepts represent natural and interesting ones and are therefore of interest from the data analysis viewpoint. In the second part, we shall utilize the present approach to examine existing psychological views of basic level and explore relationships among them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current research aims at identifying the impact of teacher behavior on teacher-learner interaction in English language at the basic instruction level. The population consists of all male pupils in basic stage instruction within Kurdistan Region-Duhok city-Directorate of education, during the academic year (2013-2014). The sample for the study has been randomly chosen from the basic instruction – level 8. It consists of (32) pupils, sixteen forming the experimental group which has been taught by using Flanders Decimal System of behavior teacher-learner interaction (it has been prepared by the researcher depending on the source and other previous studies and researches so as to test the hypotheses of the current study. It has also been made valid through its presentation to a panel of experts, while the reliability factor has been computed by using the re-test method. On the other hand, sixteen pupils formed the control group which has been taught by using the Recommended Method by the Ministry of Education (henceforth RM). The t-test has been used for the equivalence of groups. Moreover, the researcher has used the tape recorder to access to the patterns of verbal interaction inside the classroom. The achievement test is the research tool for gaining the results of the experiment after being made valid and reliable. The findings show that teachers of English can make use of the given time in the class more successfully if they focus on encouraging learners (pupils) and accepting their ideas. Additionally, there is a limited influence of the variable related to the period of teaching service and place of graduation on the patterns of interaction inside the classroom as it has affected the percentage of the teacher's instant questions. Thus, it showed teacher of English is the most effective strategy in teacher-learner interaction. The research ends with some recommendations and suggestions depending on the findings of the study

This study draws on categorisation theory to investigate how consumers make brand personality inferences. Its purpose is to determine the basic category at which consumers make brand personality inferences and whether this level varies for functional and symbolic products. Experimental results show that the basic level of categorisation for brand personality inferences is the brand level for symbolic products and the product type level for functional products. These findings suggest that managers may have less latitude to adopt diverse personalities for functional than symbolic products. The study also demonstrates that, in contrast to prior work, future research on brand personality should consider a wider range of sources of personality. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

The article is focusing on the Buryat local communities in eastern Mongolia and raises the issue of the role of local communities and local places of worship in building identity at the mesostructural level, which may be considered to be the basic level of identity references. These considerations are based on qualitative research conducted in July and August 2019 in eastern Mongolia in four Buryat local communities. The author tries to show that the use of the category of local communities as a starting point for analyses is a fruitful strategy for placing the studied communities in wider social, cultural and political contexts. The article is an attempt to use the categories related to the notion of local communities to describe Buryat local communities in Mongolia and to show how non-European examples of local communities can enrich sociological reflection on local communities and different types of identities. The title “Horizons of Identity” refers to the achievements of landscape anthropology, which inspired the author in the preparation of this work.

Professional development is a continuous process of learning to empower professional competency and enable teachers to be strong and competent in their professional career. The study critically explores the struggles and professional activities of basic level English teachers in professional development. Critical narrative inquiry has been used in relation to long lived experiences of a participant with a semi – structured telephonic interview. The participant narrates three distinct phases of experiences in teaching profession. The result revealed that participant was innately interested in teaching profession before involvement. But the situated school system discouraged his ideology of teaching profession even he determined to continue his profession involving in different seminars, workshop and study. However, the study further suggests that there is lack of innovating teaching profession from critical perspectives focusing the interactive and transformative environment in classroom. Therefore, the basic level teachers need to re- examine and re – construct the professional activities to address the need, interest and level of learners. Similarly, the study contributes to apply language teaching activities in terms of transformative mood rather than structured model of teaching empowering teachers as an agency.

The fourth-grade 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Reading assessment shows that 34% of the nation’s students perform below the NAEP Basic level. However, because there is no achievement-level description for below Basic, educators and policymakers lack information on the nature of the reading difficulties that these students face. To help fill this gap, we analyze data from the 2018 NAEP Oral Reading Fluency study. We find that, compared with students who perform at the NAEP Basic level and above, students who perform below NAEP Basic level are much more likely to have poor oral reading fluency and word reading skills.

The Stevens law, S = kIn, is commonly accepted as a landmark achievement in the field of sensory psychophysics and has been widely applied in food sensory research. The theory effectively links the two parameters of very different nature, the intensity of sensory perception (S) and the intensity of physical stimulus (I). However, the Stevens law suffers from two major drawbacks. The equation was self-inconsistent in terms of the units, which makes equation questionable in principle. The Stevens law was also found inapplicable when multiple physical stimuli are involved in the perception of a sensory attribute. To solve the first drawback, we propose to replace the absolute stimulation intensity in the Stevens law with a relative intensity, S = k(I/I0)n. The modified Stevens law becomes self-consistent when both sides of the equation are dimensionless and the theory is applicable regardless of the unit of the physical stimulus. To solve the second drawback, a concept of sensory derivation is introduced and so sensory properties can be categorized as primary sensory and derived sensory. The former can be described effectively by the Stevens law, while description of the latter is beyond the applicability of the Stevens law because of the involvement of multiple sensory stimuli or multi level sensory derivation. Furthermore, a sensory hierarch is constructed with sensory perception of different nature at different levels, including the primary sensory at the basic level and derived sensory perception at progressing levels. The modified Stevens law provides a self-consistent model for psychophysical analysis of sensory perception. The proposed sensory hierarchy helps to streamline sensory terms and attributes and may be used as a useful guide in establishing instrumental analysis of sensory perception.

This obligation to provide palliative care has grown significantly due to the immense suffering caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to patients and their carers. The successful delivery of palliative care, however, requires a healthcare workforce that is trained to provide palliative care at all levels. It is especially important to be able to train healthcare workers in basic-level palliative care to expand the health system’s capacity to provide palliative care. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of this training programme on the participants’ interest and knowledge in palliative care, and their preparedness to deliver basic-level palliative care. Methods: We developed a novel training programme for basic palliative care using didactic and participatory learning methods, along with a mentoring system. The programme was delivered over 6 months. 38 physicians were trained. A survey to evaluate the participants’ interest and knowledge of palliative care, as well as their preparedness to provide palliative care was conducted at 3 timepoints–pre-training, post-training, and 3 months post-training. Results: Improvements in the interest (4.05 vs 4.24, p

The itinerant notary system was an important measure taken by the Nationalist government in Nanjing to enhance its control of grassroots society in rural China. There was no intent to challenge the central government’s wishes of “enlarging government revenues for the benefit of the state treasury” and safeguarding the integrity of the central government’s jurisdiction, which made smooth implementation of the itinerant notary system possible. It was against this background that the court of Linxia, Gansu province, expanded its reach to local business centers, selected superintendents of public notaries from among local gentry elites, and offered awards for notary services. The itinerant notary system thus combined a “modern” legal institution transplanted from the West with endogenous resources, and turned out to be an experiment conducive to overcoming the either/or binary of Western vs. Chinese, exploring a pluralistic and less disruptive path of institutional development.

- Abstract
Kelurahan Sukawarna is one of the public facilities provided by the government to deliver service to the community within Kecamatan Sukajadi. To provide good service, one good way that can be done is to improve the knowledge and skills of ASN and LKK at Kelurahan Sukawarna. Currently, they use Microsoft PowerPoint, but some of them have only a low level of mastery, so the use of Microsoft PowerPoint in supporting their work is not optimal. Therefore, lecturers from the OSI expertise group and students carried out community service activities in training on the use of Basic Microsoft PowerPoint for ASN and LKK at Kelurahan Sukawarna. Considering the current Covid-19 pandemic, the training was conducted online using the Zoom Cloud Meetings application. The training was held for two days. On the first day, participants were given training material about using Microsoft PowerPoint, namely the File, Home, Insert, Design, Transitions, and Animations features. On the second day, training evaluation was carried out by giving assignments to the participants. Based on the assessment results of assignments, it can be seen that the participants made assignments well. The features taught in training had been used well in the assignments. The training benefits ASN and LKK at Kelurahan Sukawarna in improving their knowledge and skills in using Basic Microsoft PowerPoint. With this improvement, it is hoped that they can deliver better service to the community, e.g., socializing the prevention of Covid-19 and so on.

One may believe that it is better to transplant European successful models, such as the Polish model, or other regionalization schemes in the other European countries. I believe the French tradition of our law and our national peculiarities would be more suitable to be considered for regionalization strategy based on creating new rules that will govern this new reform. So I endorse a traditional and temperate view considering phasing the necessary reforms in the medium and long period in which communities are prepared for their effective implementation. But in this paper I intend to present some interesting aspects of the regionalization process in the European Union. What is the future architecture of the EU in relation to development gaps, what can be done to find suitable solutions to the global crisis which is badly affecting regional and local communities? These are legitimate questions, and that is why we are looking to find adequate strategies for political, economic, social and administrative matters. Some countries were able to find good solutions that today make it possible to mitigate the adverse effects through administrative reorganization and a real decentralization, through social and political solidarity.

Many studies regarding the acquisition of te iru focus on the learner’s language output. There are very few researches that focus on textbooks as the input in language studies. There is a possibility that introducing grammatical items in textbooks tends to lead the learners to misuse te iru. It is necessary to clarify the grammatical items' characteristics in the basic level textbooks as a language input. Especially, in the study abroad, such as in Indonesia, non-textbook sources for Japanese input are limited. Therefore Indonesian Japanese learners mostly depend on textbooks. This research will discuss the introduction of te iru in the basic level textbooks from the input viewpoint. This research examines how te iru is introduced in “Situational Functional Japanese”. The data in this research include the main textbook and the grammatical explanation, from which te iru sentences are collected and classified. In order to identify the general tendency of te iru in textbooks, te ita, te inai and subordinate sentences are also included as data. Each textbook recognizes that five usages are introduced in the explanation of SFJ, but only two usages are written in explaining the usage of te iru. Their usage is resultative and progressive. And, te inai and te ita are also introduced in SFJ. Moreover, if we look at the distribution of the example sentences of te iru in SFJ the example sentences can still be found, some of which show an increase in subsequent chapters.

Economic support plays a decisive role in strengthening the defense capability of any state. In most cases, the phenomena of wars and their beginning were stipulated by the struggle for resources, and sometimes, when resources were running out, hostilities were suspended. Plans for the development, construction and use of the armed forces are always developed taking into account the capabilities of the state. In addition, an analysis of the use of financial resources allocated by the state to ensure national security and defense makes it possible to find out the extent of its readiness for war. In the article, the authors propose a methodological approach to forecasting the country's military expenditures based on an analysis of the dynamics of these expenditures over a long-term period (more than twenty years). To analyze the dynamics and forecast of military expenditures, statistical data on the volumes of military expenditures of such countries as Lithuania, Poland, Great Britain, China, Germany, Russia, the USA, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine were used. To calculate the indicators of dynamics, the authors proposed to compare each level of the series with the same basic level. To calculate the indicators of dynamics, each subsequent level of the series is compared with the previous one. The most important statistical indicator of the dynamics is the absolute growth, which is defined as the difference between the comparison of the two levels of the dynamic’s series in the units of the initial information. The proposed methodological approach to forecasting the military spending of some countries of the world based on the analysis of their dynamics makes it possible to obtain a qualitative picture that characterizes the attitude of the state to its own security, and also allows us to fairly reliably predict the volume of defense spending in countries with a stable economy. Further research will be related to the study of internal and external factors affecting the level of military spending in certain countries of the world.

This work aims to learn the strategies used by teachers of a public school in the district of Carabayllo (Lima, Peru) for the teaching of children with ASD. For this, qualitative and exploratory research was carried out. Thus, through a case study, a semi-structured interview was applied to two primary school teachers, and each teacher had a student with ASD in the classroom. Additionally, this data collection was complemented by the non-participatory observation of the researchers, which allowed recording various aspects of the teaching practice, and this in turn helped the description and analysis of the study object. The results showed that teachers, in addition to not having the necessary support and accompaniment, are unaware of the various strategies for inclusive education, so their activities are based, above all, on their intuition and experience. The interviews analysis also reveals that the most important strategy for both teachers was that of teamwork, either with dynamics or games or with the participation of the student with ASD in different groups formed in the classroom. Finally, it is essential to develop more research on this topic, since as a general diagnosis it can be said that public education in Peru at the regular basic level is not yet prepared to ensure the successful incorporation of children with ASD.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to gain an understanding of how (and if) the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) manages knowledge to create value. Methodology: Publicly available data about the IHG were assessed using Pawlowski and Bick’s (2015) Global Knowledge Management Framework (GKMFW) to determine the extent to which the IHG is implementing knowledge management (KM). Four experts reviewed the findings for validation. Main findings: Knowledge management (KM) practices are used by the IHG at a basic level. Data collected in this study indicate that the IHG is not connecting KM processes in its strategy. This research highlights that the IHG and potentially other hotel companies could integrate KM to enhance their performance. Applications of this study: The study’s findings are important for hotel industry stakeholders (academics, hotel executives, owners, etc.), assisting them to better understand “hotel KM”. Stakeholders are encouraged to implement holistic and purposeful KM programs (i.e., a framework), potentially delivering more value to their organizations. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is the first attempt to investigate KM activities in one major standard-setting hotel company (SSHC), as defined by Boardman and Barbato (2008). It highlights the limitations in hotel-specific KM research and the limited way in which KM is being applied in the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). It not only identifies a gap in the literature about KM in the hospitality industry but starts to fill this gap.

This study aims to determine the feasibility level of physics worksheets and to figure out the increase on student’s understanding after using the physics worksheets based on science process skills. This study is a development research employing ADDIE development model which consists of five stages, namely: analysis, design, development, and implementation. The design of this study was One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The instruments used were validity assessment sheet, feasibility assessment sheet, questionnaire about the students’ response toward the worksheets based on science process skills, and assessment of science process skills. the data were analyzed by using percentage of agreement (R), and N-gain (g). The results showed that the physics students’ worksheet based on science process skills was feasible and could be used in learning as the feasibility level reached 97%. The students’ understanding of fluid material gained through working with the worksheets can improve students’ science process skills both at the basic level and at the integrated level. This is proven by the results of the initial test or pre-test which indicate that the students' science process skills affected the learning outcomes obtained in which 62.25% of students’ scores were in good category and 35.75% of students’ scores were in fair category. Meanwhile, in the final test or post-test of students' science process skills, it was obtained that 74.50% of students’ scores were in very good category and 25.50% of students’ scores were in the fair category. This means that there is an increase by 0.7 % in students' science process skills when using the students’ worksheets.

The study aims at investigating basic level schoolteachers' awareness of their students' mathematics learning disability (MLD) in the context of Nepal. It is based on a mixed-method research design in that it combines both qualitative and quantitative approaches as appropriate. Using the stratified random sampling technique, 300 basic level mathematics teachers were selected from 150 basic level (grades 1-8) community and institutional schools representing the three significant ecological regions (the Mountain, the Hill, and the Terai) and demographic variables (gender, place of residence, and school type) from Province 1 of Nepal. A Mathematics Learning Disability Awareness Scale (MLDA-Scale), was developed and used to measure the basic level schoolteachers' awareness of their students' MLD. Besides, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the purposively selected basic level schoolteachers for the qualitative data. The basic level schoolteachers' awareness of MLD factor categories was calculated using descriptive statistics. Similarly, t-tests were conducted to examine the effects of the demographic variables. The qualitative data, however, were analyzed thematically. The results reveal that the majority of the basic level schoolteachers' knowledge toward their students' MLD was inadequate and that the demographic variables had no significant effects on the teachers' knowledge of their students' MLD. Finally, the study recommends developing the managerial practices regarding the MLD issue further.

Formative assessment and feedback are related to learning improvement and self-regulation processes. These processes can be understood as the interplay between personal, behavioural and contextual characteristics. For feedback to be effective it must be properly interpreted, reconstructed and internalized. This article presents the results of a research project on feedback that aimed to achieve two purposes. The first was to describe and compare students’ perception about the provided feedback and its relationship with the processes of self-regulated learning (SRA) in the different academic subjects of the project. The second sought to generate an exploratory model, based on PLS-SEM, about the relationships between the features of the received feedback, students’ opinion about it, and its effects on SRA and students’ satisfaction. A questionnaire was designed to measure students’ perception of the feedback and was filled in by 603 students in seven subjects of six university degrees. The findings confirm the exploratory model generated and suggest that students construct a positive perception of feedback that exerts a greater influence on SRA when the following elements are present at a basic level: a concurrent teacher feedback, oral, specific and task-focused, clear and understandable; opportunities for the emergence of a dialogic and interactive peer-feedback; the use of the opportunities offered by virtual environments to give feedback; and a clear initial specification of the task or learning results expected (feed-up).

The "basic level'', according to experiments in cognitive psychology, is the level of abstraction in a hierarchy of concepts at which humans perform tasks quicker and with greater accuracy than at other levels. We argue that applications that use concept hierarchies could improve their user interfaces if they `knew' which concepts are the basic level concepts. This paper examines to what extent the basic level can be learned from data. We test the utility of three types of concept features, that were inspired by the basic level theory: lexical features, structural features and frequency features. We evaluate our approach on WordNet, and create a training set of manually labelled examples from different part of WordNet. Our findings include that the basic level concepts can be accurately identified within one domain. Concepts that are difficult to label for humans are also harder to classify automatically. Our experiments provide insight into how classification performance across different parts of the hierarchy could be improved, which is necessary for identification of basic level concepts on a larger scale.

The main purpose of this paper was to explore mathematics educators’ perception of the cultural relevance of basic level mathematics in Nepal. The design of this study involved an interpretive qualitative approach by administering in-depth interviews with five purposively selected mathematics educators teaching at five higher education institutions in the Kathmandu valley. Each interview was audio-recorded and transcribed for coding and constructing themes. The major themes that emerged were teaching in a mother language, contextualized Ethnomathematics, and the local knowledge in the curriculum as a teaching approach. The findings of the study can be helpful to curriculum designers and teachers at the basic level of mathematics. The study also adds to the literature of cultural aspects of mathematics teaching and learning and curriculum design.

Establishing the optimal values of quantitative indicators of the level of unification for armaments and military equipment (AME) samples during the elaborating of technical development requirements (TDR) for research and development work (R&D) on their creation (modernization) is still an urgent task, as they (values) directly affect technical and economical evaluation of AME samples. It is stipulated in the normative documents that quantitative indicators of the unification level of the sample are determined by the factors of applicability and repeatability of the standard sizes of assembly units and parts of the sample. In addition, the formulas for their calculation are also specified in these documents. It makes possible to assess only the actually achieved level of unification, while the question of a methodological approach to establishing the values of indicators in the requirements of the TDR remains open. In previous studies, the author has consistently developed recommendations for establishing optimal values of quantitative indicators of the level of unification for AME samples. This paper summarizes the recommendations on the method of substantiation of requirements for the values of quantitative indicators of AME unification. The author proposes to replace the factor of repeatability with a relative factor of repeatability, which allows determining the indicators in single units (in percent) and, accordingly, applying a single method of their establishment. The proposed general methodological approach to substantiation of quantitative indicators of the unification level consists of four stages: determination of the basic level of quantitative indicators of the unification level; determination of the list of factors that affect the level of unification, differentiation of factors by the nature of the impact and determining the rating of their significance; determination of coefficients of factors that influence the unification level; calculation of quantitative indicators of the unification The paper provides a clear algorithm and recommendations for sequential execution of stages. Taking into account the positive results of previous studies, generalized recommendations for improving the methodology of substantiation of requirements for the values of quantitative indicators of unification were developed. These recommendations can be practically applied in the process of setting requirements in the TDR for R&D on the development of AME samples.
