Profession selection is one of the most important decisions for human beings. Since the professions can generally be achieved via higher education, determining the most proper higher education becomes an important decision problem. In order to select the best higher education program, there are various criteria to be considered. Hence the main purpose of this study is to provide an analytical analysis of thirty three criteria under the heading of three main criteria for higher education selection. Then a case study was performed to find the relative weights and ranking of these main and sub criteria at a high school for different grade students. Depending on the comparison of weights and rankings of different grade students, it was inferred that according to their age and different grades, the students' preferences change during their adolescence period regarding the higher education selection. This study can be enhanced by applying multi criteria decision making techniques such as, Analytical Hierarchy Process, to calculate the weights of the main and sub criteria more analytically in the further steps.

Interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) was initially identified as a key controller in lymphocyte differentiation and function, and subsequently as a dependency factor and therapy target in lymphocyte‐derived cancers. In melanocytes, IRF4 takes part in pigmentation. Although genetic studies have implicated IRF4 in melanoma, how IRF4 functions in melanoma cells has remained largely elusive. Here, we confirmed prevalent IRF4 expression in melanoma and showed that high expression is linked to dependency in cells and mortality in patients. Analysis of genes activated by IRF4 uncovered, as a novel target category, epigenetic silencing factors involved in DNA methylation (DNMT1, DNMT3B, UHRF1) and histone H3K27 methylation (EZH2). Consequently, we show that IRF4 controls the expression of tumour suppressor genes known to be silenced by these epigenetic modifications, for instance cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitors CDKN1A and CDKN1B, the PI3–AKT pathway regulator PTEN, and primary cilium components. Furthermore, IRF4 modulates activity of key downstream oncogenic pathways, such as WNT/β‐catenin and AKT, impacting cell proliferation and survival. Accordingly, IRF4 modifies the effectiveness of pertinent epigenetic drugs on melanoma cells, a finding that encourages further studies towards therapeutic targeting of IRF4 in melanoma. Objectives: This study aimed to compare the treatment outcomes between dorsal root ganglion (DRG) pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) and DRG PRF plus transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) in patients with chronic lumbosacral radicular pain. Patients and methods: Eighty-one patients (39 males, 42 females; mean age: 57.5±11.9 years; range 18 to 65 years) who underwent DRG PRF (Group 1) and 59 patients (34 males, 25 females; mean age: 58.7±12.3 years; range 18 to 65 years) who underwent DRG PRF plus TFESI (Group 2) between February 2021 and June 2022 were enrolled in the retrospective study. A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to assess pain severity. Patients in both groups were evaluated before treatment and at four weeks and six months after treatment. Results: The four-week and six-month VAS scores were significantly lower than the baseline VAS scores in both groups. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of the VAS scores at baseline, four weeks, and six months. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of the rate of pain reduction of 50% or more at either measurement point. The presence or absence of a previous lumbar surgery had no effect on achieving a significant decrease in pain. Conclusion: Although DRG PRF and TFESI are easy to apply together, adding corticosteroids to DRG PRF treatment for patients with chronic radicular pain did not improve long-term outcomes. Aim: Currently, one of the most promising research areas in dental implantology is the exploration of additional procedures to reduce loading time for implants and enhance osseointegration in cases of poor bone quality. Various techniques have been researched and developed for stimulating bone production, including electrical stimulation of the jawbone and surrounding tissues. However, there is limited research on the direct relationship between electrostimulation and osseointegration. This experimental study aims to investigate the effects of corona stimulation (CS) on the rate and quality of osseointegration, as well as its potential to reduce the waiting period for dental implants. Material and Method: In this experimental protocol, 32 dental implants were inserted into the tibia of four male sheep bilaterally. Implants on the right tibia of each male sheep underwent CS treatment, while the other side served as a control group without any stimulation. The animals were sacrificed on the 15th and 30th days after implantation. Bone segments containing the implants were processed using a noncalcified method. It assessed new bone formation and osseointegration around the dental implants using the undecalcified method and histomorphological analysis. An experienced blinded investigator measured percentages of mineralized bone-implant contact (BIC), bone area (BAr), and bone perimeter (BPm) to evaluate the bone-implant interface. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 21 for Windows, with a significance level set at p<0.05. Results: The histomorphometric parameters revealed a significant increase in BIC, BAr, and BPm values in the CS group compared to the control group on both the 15th and 30th days (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in BIC ratio between the second and fourth stimulation groups. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of our treatment methods applied in the pain management of patients with HZ, PHN and risk factors associated with the development of HZ and PHN . Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in our hospital pain medicine clinic. The demographic data of the patients, in which phase of the disease they admitted, in which dermatomes the disease was occurred, what medical treatments they received and type of interventional treatments were applied between the dates of January 2019 and January 2023 were recorded. Also, pain reduction was evaluated as beneficial when there's a reduction in the pain level equal or more than 50%, and below as useless. The dosage scheme and types of drugs used were recorded. The follow-up interval was determined as 6 weeks after the intervention. Results: While 131 (56.2%) of 233 patients were diagnosed with HZ, 102 patients (43.8%) were diagnosed as PHN. The median age was significantly higher in the PHN group (p<0.001). Thoracic region (60.9%) is the most frequently involved dermatome for HZ and PHN, followed by lumbar, trigeminal nerve ophthalmic branch and cervical region. The most commonly used agents are pregabalin, tramadol and gabapentin, respectively. Interventional treatments, on the other hand, were generally effective regardless of the phase. Conclusion: It has been determined sympathetic blocks and epidural injections in acute and subacute periods are more effective, and peripheral nerve blocks are effective in both periods. While it was found to be effective the pulse radiofrequency in lumbar region, it was found to be effective in the chronic period while it was not effective in the facial dermatome in the acute period. To examine the influence of safety climate perception and safety performance on safety outcomes in the form of near misses and injuries a cross-sectional survey was conducted with 562 employees in twelve marble factories in Diyarbakır, Turkey. Study findings revealed that safety communication, management’s safety commitment and safety training in the workplace influenced safety performance of workers most. Overall results suggest that improvement in the level of safety performance was associated with a reduction in accidents. Safety communication was the most significant dimension of safety climate to reduce near misses and injuries. When sociodemographics of employees were considered, the means of perception of safety systems in workplace was lower among younger groups. While participants from lower educated groups were more likely to care about safety performance, participants with high income were more likely to perceive management’s safety commitment, safety training, and safety communication. These findings are important for management and employees of marble factories since they provide evidence about the factors that firms can consider to reduce occupational accidents and encourage safety performance in workplaces. This article discusses a case study of a 75-year-old man who presented with lethargy and diarrhea. His admission digoxin level was falsely elevated, leading to consideration of digoxin-specific antibody fragments administration. However, further analysis using alternate digoxin assays revealed that the patient was not taking digoxin but was instead taking enzalutamide for prostate cancer. The article highlights the potential for false positive digoxin levels on specific assays in patients taking enzalutamide and emphasizes the importance of understanding laboratory assays to avoid misdiagnosis and potential mismanagement. The use of quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry analysis is also discussed as a new technology that can confirm the presence of enzalutamide and absence of digoxin. BACKGROUND: The aim of our study is to examine the possible complications, risk factors, and solutions encountered in orthognathic surgery in the light of the cases; we performed in our clinic. METHODS: This study includes a retrospective analysis of the records of 85 patients who underwent orthognathic surgery between 2015 and 2020 in Istanbul Pendik District Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service. The types of complications encountered during the operations were recorded in the study. Independent variables such as gender, age, number of operations, surgical site, and type of osteotomy were evaluated. Complications were evaluated according to the Clavien--Dindo classification. The data were presented for statistical analysis with a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS: Of the 85 patients included in the study, 40 were male and 45 were female. Of these patients, 65 had double chin operation and 20 had single chin operation. A total of 150 jaw osteotomies were performed, 78 of them in the maxilla and 72 in the mandible. While the maxilla was operated in 13 of the cases, in which single jaw operation was performed, only the mandible was treated in 7 of them. Complications were observed in 24 (10.57%) of a total of 227 osteotomies. Among the complications encountered, bleeding (8), nerve damage (7), malocclusion (3), infection (2), TMJ problems (2), bad split (1), and deviation at the tip of the nose (1) stand out, while complications were observed equally in men and women, complications were observed more frequently in cases with longer operative time (p<0.05). Complications were observed more frequently in bilateral sagittal split osteotomies (p<0.001) compared to Le Fort 1 osteotomies. Clavien--Dindo grade I complications were most common (72.04%) depending on the treatment. According to the Clavien--Dindo classification, there was no relationship between gender, age, duration of surgery, length of hospital stay, or surgical site, and the degree of complications (p≥0.05). CONCLUSION: Post-operative malocclusion, bleeding, inferior alveolar nerve injury, infection, poor division, and infection are the most common complications in orthognathic surgery. It can be associated with factors such as the duration of the operation, the number of operations, the site of the operation, and the type of osteotomy which performed. It is thought that positive contributions can be made to the success of the surgery by considering these factors in the treatment planning, during the operation and in the post-operative follow-up part. A study was conducted on mutant proteins C6S, C9S, C39S and C42S of CP rRd. The cytesine ligand in each of the mutant has been substituted, in turn, by serine. Four geometric isomers were developed in which FeOS3 centers are introduced differently within the same protein chain. Results showed that the differences in the nature of Fe-O gamma-Ser bonds caused by variation of the conformational flexibility of the protein chains carrying the ligands are responsible for the differences in reduction potentials and pH dependence as well as the onset irreversible behavior in the electron transfer of the four mutant proteins.
