Demografik verilere göre yaşlı nüfus tüm dünyada hızla artmaktadır. Tüm dünyada 2050 yılında her beş kişiden birinin 60 yaş ve üstünde olacağı öngörülmektedir. Nüfus yaşlanması, artık önemli bir olgudur ve artan yaşlı nüfus göz önüne alındığında, aktif yaşlanmanın kişisel, aile, toplumsal, hükümet ve küresel düzeydeki önemi anlaşılmaya başlamış ve yaşlı bireylerin kendi yaşamlarında anlam ve memnuniyeti nasıl buldukları sorusu her düzeyde ön plana çıkmıştır. Aktif yaşlanma çabası, yaşlı bireyler için yaşam boyu öğrenmenin (YBÖ) önemi ve geliştirilmesi üzerine dikkatlerin çevrilmesine neden olmuştur. Yaşam boyu öğrenmenin geliştirilmesinin yaşlı bireyler için fiziksel, sosyal ve duygusal yararları olduğuna inanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, üçüncü yaş üniversitelerinin (ÜYÜ) mevcut durumunu tanımlamak ve dünyadaki “iyi uygulamaları” değerlendirmektir. Çalışmanınn yöntemi; literatür taranmasına dayalı olarak, ÜYÜ yaşlı bireylerin yaşam boyu öğrenme perspektifinden kazanımları ve aktif yaşlanma üzerindeki etkilerine dayalı bir inceleme çalışması olup en iyi uygulama örneklerine yer verilecektir. ÜYÜ, akran desteği ve bilgi paylaşımına dayanan yaşam boyu öğrenme programı olarak birçok ülkede uygulanmakta olup, sosyal bütünleşmeyi sağlaması ve psikolojik yararları ile yaşlıların kişisel yaşam kalitesini arttırdığı çok sayıda uygulamalarla ortaya konulmuştur. ÜYÜ programlarının, başarılı ve aktif yaşlanma üzerinde önemli etkisinin olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Yaşlılar, ÜYÜ yoluyla hem topluma katılım sağlamakta hem de bilgi ve becerilerini geliştirebilmektedirler.

The purpose of this research is to adapt the Scale of Happiness Orientations, which was developed by Peterson, Park, and Seligman (2005), into Turkish and examine the psychometric properties of the scale. The participants of the research consist of 489 students. The psychometric properties of the scale was examined with test methods; linguistic equivalence, descriptive factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, criterion-related validity, internal consistency, and test-retest. For criterion-related validity (concurrent validity), the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire-Short Form is used. Articles resulting from the descriptive factor analysis for structural validity of scale were summed into three factors (life of meaning, life of pleasure, life of engagement) in accordance with the original form. Confirmatory factor analysis conducted yielded the value of three-factor fit indexes of 18 items: (χ2/df=1.94, RMSEA= .059, CFI= .96, GFI= .95, IFI= .95, NFI= .96, RFI= .95 and SRMR= .044). Factor load of the scale ranges from .36 to .59. Introduction We aimed to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish translation of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) in 115 male alcohol-dependent patients. Method The reliability of the instrument was assessed by measuring test-retest, interrater and internal reliabilities. In the validity analysis, the correlation coefficients between corresponding severity ratings and composite scores of each subscale and concurrent validity were assessed. Moreover, the discriminant validity and concurrent validity scores were calculated. Results The test-retest reliability of the ASI scores ranged from .79 to .91. The interrater reliability assigned by three raters was high (.74 to .99). Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .85 for all scales, and it varied between .64 and .77 for the subscales. The Beck Depression Inventory moderately correlated with the Psychatric status, and the MacAndrew Alcoholism Scale correlated with the Alcohol and Drug Use subscales of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). The correlation coefficient was .91 for the alcohol use subscale. Conclusion The results obtained in this study suggest that the Turkish version of the ASI could be used as a reliable and valid instrument in alcohol-dependent patients.

The members of the International Network for the Analysis of Intergenerational Relations (Generationes) proudly present the most recent issue of the jointly produced compendium "Generations, Intergenerational Relations and Generational Policy". This new version includes 12 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish (new), Hungarian (new), Turkish (new), Romanian (new), and Lithuanian (new). The layout of the compendium is designed for using it to translate the specific concepts and terminology of research into generations and intergenerational relations from one language into another.

Aging of population affects all aspects of the society ranging from the healthcare to welfare systems, public finances, family life and LTC issues, as well. Turkey’s population is younger than that of European countries. However, the ageing population is growing rapidly in Turkey As a result of the increase in the aging population, health expenditure and long-term care services needs have swiftly increased, and this increase, as well as becoming a noteworthy situation, has posed a serious threat to Turkey, including the ones having an extremely powerful social security system, for the future. In Turkey, currently there is no long-term care insurance system. The elderly are usually taken care of within their own family. Long-term care infrastructure are extremely scarce. At the same time, home care and social care are least developed in Turkey, with the scarce public supplies being rationed by quantity and treated as last resort options by families and private providers. Public and private support for long-term care for older persons still is not visible and at national level it is often a non-issue. However, in recent years, quite important steps are being taken for long-term care to innovative implemantations has been witnessed. We will point out some good practices about long-term care for older people in Turkey.

Purpose: Turkey's population is young, with only 6.6% of the population estimated at ages 65 years and older in 2013. However, the ageing population is growing rapidly, and Turkey is facing an aging population structure during the next decade. In this context, the majority of Turkey's elderly population will inevitably face significant health and social care needs in the future. Socio-economic and psychological issues such as loneliness, participation in society, maintaining quality of life and active aging, have become very important agendas with the increasingly elderly population. However, the formal and informal care workforce is insufficient. Moreover, a safe home environment will also be needed to provide access to health and social services such as assisted living facilities; this will enhance the quality of life and the participation of individuals in society. The need for technological devices that enable the elderly to provide for their own needs is very obvious. This paper describes a project using assisted living technology provided through local governments as well as by public and non-government organizations and also describes how to put this type of technology into practice. The purpose of the project is to address the challenges elderly people will confront and to meet the needs and demands of an aging population in Turkey. Method: In this study, we conducted face-to-face interviews with fifteen local government officials as well as with leaders of public and non-governmental organizations and managers who provide services in this project. Semi-structured interview techniques were used to analyze gerontechnological methods in Ankara, Antalya and I?stanbul. We analyzed the perceived importance, acceptance, and difficulties in using gerontechnological products and services for older adults in Turkey. Results & Discussion: Gerontechnology is seen as a key solution for those who are faced with confronting the prospect of increasing demands for eldercare. The growing use of technology is facilitating access to health services in a way that enhances the quality of life for the elderly. Based on the results of this study, Turkish elderly people find gerontechnology readily acceptable, but social and economic access are crucial issues. The government must develop policies designed to provide affordable quality services, especially long-term care, for elderly people. Coordination and cooperation is needed between the various health and social care sectors. In conclusion, Turkey's population of elderly increasingly demand the use of technology. The elderly will benefit directly from technology but also face crucial challenges related to economic, social and cultural factors.

We aimed to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish translation of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) in 115 male alcohol-dependent patients.The reliability of the instrument was assessed by measuring test-retest, interrater and internal reliabilities. In the validity analysis, the correlation coefficients between corresponding severity ratings and composite scores of each subscale and concurrent validity were assessed. Moreover, the discriminant validity and concurrent validity scores were calculated.The test-retest reliability of the ASI scores ranged from .79 to .91. The interrater reliability assigned by three raters was high (.74 to .99). Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .85 for all scales, and it varied between .64 and .77 for the subscales. The Beck Depression Inventory moderately correlated with the Psychatric status, and the MacAndrew Alcoholism Scale correlated with the Alcohol and Drug Use subscales of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). The correlation coefficient was .91 for the alcohol use subscale.The results obtained in this study suggest that the Turkish version of the ASI could be used as a reliable and valid instrument in alcohol-dependent patients.Bağımlılık Şiddetini Belirleme Ölçeği’nin (BŞBÖ) Türkçe formunun psikometrik özelliklerini değerlendirmek amacıyla 115 alkol bağımlısı erkek hastada değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır.Ölçeğin güvenirliği; test-tekrar test, görüşmeciler arası güvenirlik ve iç tutarlılık güvenirlik katsayısı ile değerlendirilmiştir. Geçerlik analizinde, ölçeklerin bileşik puanlarının şiddet puanlarıyla korelasyonları hesaplanmış ve benzer ölçekler geçerliği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca ayırt edici geçerlik ve ölçüte dayalı geçerlik puanları hesaplanmıştır.Bağımlılık Şiddetini Belirleme Ölçeği’nin test-tekrar test güvenirlik puanları korelasyonları 0,79–0,91 arasında yer almaktadır. Üç hakemin değerlendirmesinden oluşan görüşmeciler arası güvenirlik yüksek (0,74–0,99) bulunmuştur. İç tutarlılık korelasyon katsayısı, tüm ölçek için 0,85 ve alt ölçekler için 0,64–0,77 arasında değişmektedir. Beck Depresyon Envanteri ile BŞBÖ’nün Psikiyatrik alt ölçeği, Mac Andrew Alkolizm Ölçeği ile BŞBÖ’nün Alkol kullanımı alt ölçeği ile arasındaki korelasyon orta düzeydedir. Alkol kullanım alt ölçeği korelasyon katsayısı 0,91’dir.Bu çalışmanın bulguları, Bağımlılık Şiddetini Belirleme Ölçeği’nin Türkçe formunun, alkol bağımlısı hastalarda kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu göstermektedir.

As the dictionary meaning of “delikanlilik” is youth or adolescence or young man, but the metaphorical meaning of “delikanlilik” in Turkish language is different. Honesty, bravery, manhood, he-man and courage are some positive characteristics of “delikanli”. hi Turkish culture, “delikanlilik” is one of the socio-cultural identity components which leads to produce positive meaning and emphasizing masculinity. The aim of this study knows what University students think about “delikanlilik”, and how they define “delikanli”. The sample of this study is composed of students who are from Gazi University Literature Faculty, their ages between 18-25 years old and some of them are my friends on Facebook. The open-ended question was asked to the students and it was said that our expectation was at least half page writing about “delikanlilik”. Also same question was asked to some Facebook users who are different age groups. Obtained data was evaluated by qualitative analyzing techniques.

Population of the world is aging rapidly because ofdeveloping technology abouthealth system and decreasing ratio of child bearing. The care of older people isone of the important problems of the social world in every where. This problem isnot seen as actual yet in Turkey. But population ofTurkey increases rapidly.Enrolling to a social security system is not sufficient to economic independency ofolder people. Modernization made some changes to traditional society. Forexample women work outside of home, children g otokindergartens in early ages.Families are living inside small apartments. All these changes effect also olderpeople. They do not find any place in nuclear family. People in their old ages haveto live lonely up to their need to care. Elderly care is the big problem ofthemselves and their adult children or their closerelatives. Who do care ourelderly, who pay the care and who control the care.Our social security law mustbe developed to provide of the needs of elderly population especially coming thatsounds like an avalanche. In this presentation it will be given a frame of problemand its solutions.
