Objectives: This research was aimed to ensure the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the "Community Integration Scale for Adults with Psychiatric Disorders." Methods: This methodological study was conducted with 170 patients with psychiatric disorders. Data were collected between June 2019 and October 2019. Research data were analyzed with Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) analysis, Barlett's sample size test, factor analysis, cronbach's α, correlation analysis, an independent t-test. Statistical analyses were made with IBM SPSS 22 and the Lisrel 8.8 program. Results: This study was conducted with 170 individuals with any of the diagnoses of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The KMO value of the scale was 0.864, and the Chi-square value was found as χ²: 5722.153. (p<0.001). As a result of explanatory factor analysis, it was determined that there was a five-factor structure. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, fit indices (χ²/df: 2.013, root mean square errors: 0.077, comparative goodness of fit index: 0.96, goodness of fit index: 0.84, p=0.000) were found to be significant. The scale's Cronbach α=0.92, test-retest correlation of 0.84, and item-total score correlation were found to be high. Conclusion: The scale is a valid and reliable tool for measuring the community integration level of adults with psychiatric disorders in the Turkish community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The literature in economic psychology and quality-of-life studies alludes to a negative relationship between materialism and life satisfaction. In contrast, the macroeconomic literature implies a positive relationship between material consumption and economic growth. That is, materialism may be both good and bad. We develop a model that reconciles these two contrasting viewpoints by asserting that materialism may lead to life dissatisfaction when materialistic people evaluate their standard of living using fantasy-based expectations (e.g., ideal expectations), which increases the likelihood that they would evaluate their standard of living negatively. In turn, dissatisfaction with standard of living increases the likelihood that they would evaluate their life negatively. However, materialistic people who evaluate their standard of living using reality-based expectations (e.g., ability expectations) are likely to feel more economically motivated than their non-materialistic counterparts, and this economic motivation is likely to contribute significantly and positively to life satisfaction. Survey data were collected from seven major cities each in a different country (Australia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Germany, Egypt, Korea, Turkey, and the USA) using a probability sample (cluster sampling method involving income stratification). The results provide support for the model. The economic public policy implications concerning how people evaluate their standard of living using ability-based expectations are discussed in the context of the ideals of meritocracy.

Objective: The Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic process that the whole world is facing has revealed the importance of a strong immune systemandsleep in fighting diseases. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the pandemic process on the sleeping habits of nursing students. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted online with 203 volunteer undergraduate students studying at the university nursing department between 20-25 May 2021. Data were collected through the Introductory Information Form, Sleep Assessment Form. This form was composed of questions including consecutive periods such as sleep time, sleep and wake-up time, and time to fall asleep, etc. p<0.05 value was accepted for statistical significance. Results: It was determined that 75.9% of nursing students were women, 31.5% were in the third grade, 92.0% were living with their families. It was determined that the average sleep duration of students increased before the pandemic and during the pandemic period, during pre-pandemic and pandemic period and in the last month, they went to bed later in the evening, woke-up later in the morning, spent more time in bed, resting time increased, and their sleep quality decreased. During the COVID-19 pandemic and pandemic processes, female students had higher average sleep times, time to fall asleep, time to wake-up in the morning, and time spent in bed in the last month than male students. Conclusion: Pandemic process caused changes in sleeping habits of nursing students compared the pre-pandemic period; it was determined that average sleep time, time to wake-up in the morning, the time spent in bed after waking up, time to rest while lying down, and time spent with electronic devices within the scope of the lesson and outside lesson. It's important for the health of students to regulate sleep habits that are disrupted during the pandemic process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper develops theory related to advertising, materialism, and life satisfaction by formally testing explanations related to the antecedents and consequences of materialism. Survey data were collected from seven major cities each in a different country (Australia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Germany, Egypt, Korea, Turkey, and the USA) using a probability sample (cluster sampling method involving income stratification). The results showed that the extent to which advertising is perceived to be materialistic contributes to materialism. Materialism, in turn, leads to the frequent use of various standards of comparison in making judgments about standard of living. As judgments about standard of living increase, standard of living is evaluated more negatively. In turn, negative self-evaluations contribute significantly to dissatisfaction with life.

This article presents, through a series of studies conducted in six countries, the development, psychometric testing, and cross‐cultural validation of an independent measure of materialism motives involving three dimensions: needs for happiness, social recognition, and distinctiveness. We demonstrate that materialism (beliefs about the importance of money and material possessions in their life) influences life satisfaction through the fulfillment of these three materialism motives. Furthermore, and non‐surprisingly, these three motives are also related to personal values. Theoretical and policy implications of this new measure are considered, and avenues for future study presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Given the importance of cultural diversity in healthcare, the shift from "cultural competence" to "cultural humility" has become crucial. This transition is particularly relevant for nursing students in multiethnic regions, such as Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, where diverse cultural interactions can significantly impact their professional development and practice., Objective: This study was conducted to determine the cultural humility levels of nursing students., Methods: This descriptive study was carried out with nursing students in two universities in the Southeastern Anatolia region, where the immigrant population is dense, in Turkey., Results: In this study, the total mean score of the Cultural Humility Scale of the students participating in the research was 70.03±16.01. A significant difference was found between the Cultural Humility scale mean scores of the students and their gender, nationality, native language, experience of going abroad, desire to live in another country, and enjoying spending time with people from different cultures (p < 0.05). Significant positive correlations were determined between the average scores provided by the students on a 0-10 scale, indicating the importance they placed on cultural diversity in nursing education, and both the total score of the Cultural Humility Scale and the mean score of its sub-dimensions (p < 0.01, r = 0.273)., Conclusion: This study found that the cultural humility level of nursing students living and studying with people from various cultures is sometimes exhibited.
