Primary care (PC) is a unique clinical specialty and research discipline with its own perspectives and methods. Research in this field uses varied research methods and study designs to investigate myriad topics. The diversity of PC presents challenges for reporting, and despite the proliferation of reporting guidelines, none focuses specifically on the needs of PC. The Consensus Reporting Items for Studies in Primary Care (CRISP) Checklist guides reporting of PC research to include the information needed by the diverse PC community, including practitioners, patients, and communities. CRISP complements current guidelines to enhance the reporting, dissemination, and application of PC research findings and results. Prior CRISP studies documented opportunities to improve research reporting in this field. Our surveys of the international, interdisciplinary, and interprofessional PC community identified essential items to include in PC research reports. A 2-round Delphi study identified a consensus list of items considered necessary. The CRISP Checklist contains 24 items that describe the research team, patients, study participants, health conditions, clinical encounters, care teams, interventions, study measures, settings of care, and implementation of findings/results in PC. Not every item applies to every study design or topic. The CRISP guidelines inform the design and reporting of (1) studies done by PC researchers, (2) studies done by other investigators in PC populations and settings, and (3) studies intended for application in PC practice. Improved reporting of the context of the clinical services and the process of research is critical to interpreting study findings/results and applying them to diverse populations and varied settings in PC. POETRY (Literary form) , *CORPORA - Abstract
Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı (1910-1956), one of the important names of Turkish literature in the Republican era, wrote in literary genres such as poetry, story, letter, novel, biography, article, column and translation. At the present time, all of Tarancı's works are being collected and published in 6 volumes; his poems in Otuz Beş Yaş, his stories in Gün Eksilmesin Panceremden and Yağmurdan Sonra, his novel as titled Korkuyorum, his articles, interviews and survey answers in Avuçlarıma Sığmıyor Yıldızlar, his letters in Ziya'ya Mektuplar and Evime ve Nihal'e Mektuplar. Tarancı's corpus, whose name was engraved in the memories especially with his poem "Otuz Beş Yaş", has been enriched with the studies carried out over time and has taken its present situation. However, it is seen that Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı's corpus is still not completed and many of the poet's works remain scattered in periodicals. In order to evaluate a poet or a writer properly, it is necessary to reveal a complete corpus of him and evaluate his corpus from an objective point of view. In this article, sixteen texts of Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı (five poems, five articles, five questionnaire-interview answers and one letter) that have not been compiled and included in books will be published and announced to the literary world. Lastly, the relevant texts will be evaluated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CHATGPT , *PATIENT education , *READABILITY (Literary style) , *LANGUAGE models , *ARTIFICIAL intelligence , *COLLOQUIAL language - Abstract
Background: Patients’ education is a vital strategy for understanding a disease by patients and proper management of the condition. Physicians and academicians frequently make customized education materials for their patients. An artificial intelligence (AI)‑based writer can help them write an article. Chat Generative Pre‑Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a conversational language model developed by OpenAI (openai.com). The model can generate human‑like responses. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the generated text from ChatGPT for its suitability in patients’ education. Materials and Methods: We asked the ChatGPT to list common dermatological diseases. It provided a list of 14 diseases. We used the disease names to converse with the application with disease‑specific input (e.g., write a patient education guide on acne). The text was copied for checking the number of words, readability, and text similarity by software. The text's accuracy was checked by a dermatologist following the structure of observed learning outcomes (SOLO) taxonomy. For the readability ease score, we compared the observed value with a score of 30. For the similarity index, we compared the observed value with 15% and tested it with a one‑sample t‑test. Results: The ChatGPT generated a paragraph of text of 377.43 ± 60.85 words for a patient education guide on skin diseases. The average text reading ease score was 46.94 ± 8.23 (P < 0.0001), and it indicates that this level of text can easily be understood by a high‑school student to a newly joined college student. The text similarity index was higher (27.07 ± 11.46%, P = 0.002) than the expected limit of 15%. The text had a “relational” level of accuracy according to the SOLO taxonomy. Conclusion: In its current form, ChatGPT can generate a paragraph of text for patients’ educational purposes that can be easily understood. However, the similarity index is high. Hence, doctors should be cautious when using the text generated by ChatGPT and must check for text similarity before using it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Concept cartoons are two-dimensional graphical drawings that have proven to be one of today's important learning and teaching strategies in many studies. Concept cartoons can be used both in educational activities and in the evaluation of trainings. The aim of the research is to determine the general trends and possible deficiencies in scientific articles on concept cartoons in mathematics education. In order to achieve this aim, scientific articles on the use of concept cartoons in the field of mathematics education in Türkiye between the years 2006-2023 were examined. In this study, the "document review" method was used, which provides the opportunity to review the general trends and important results in a particular research area and to evaluate them as a whole. In the research, 28 scientific articles on concept cartoons in the field of mathematics education in Türkiye were examined. The data collected within the scope of the study were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The first scientific article on the use of concept cartoons in mathematics education in Türkiye was published in 2006. It was determined that the use of concept cartoons in the examined articles was carried out in order to determine the effect on various dependent variables such as academic achievement, attitude towards mathematics and anxiety. It was determined that most of the studies were conducted in the learning areas of "Numbers and operations" and "Geometry and measurement". It has been determined that the most preferred design in the studies is the quasi-experimental design. It was determined that a significant part of the research was carried out with secondary school students and the sample size was less than 100 people. Multiple-choice test, Likert-type scale and written opinion form were most frequently used as data collection tools in the studies. In the analysis of the data, descriptive analysis with t-test was mostly preferred. Based on the results of the studies examined, it was determined that the use of concept cartoons had positive effects on the variables examined, especially academic achievement and mathematical attitude. Future studies will include preparing and using concept cartoons with the participation of teachers and preservice teachers, and especially the 21st century. It is suggested that it be designed to examine the effects on different variables, including. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COST estimates , *SINKHOLES , *JOB descriptions , *SCIENTIFIC community ,SNOWBALL sampling - Abstract
Background: There are a variety of costs associated with publication of scientific findings. The purpose of this work was to estimate the cost of peer review in scientific publishing per reviewer, per year and for the entire scientific community. Methods: Internet-based self-report, cross-sectional survey, live between June 28, 2021 and August 2, 2021 was used. Participants were recruited via snowball sampling. No restrictions were placed on geographic location or field of study. Respondents who were asked to act as a peer-reviewer for at least one manuscript submitted to a scientific journal in 2020 were eligible. The primary outcome measure was the cost of peer review per person, per year (calculated as wage-cost x number of initial reviews and number of re-reviews per year). The secondary outcome was the cost of peer review globally (calculated as the number of peer-reviewed papers in Scopus x median wage-cost of initial review and re-review). Results: A total of 354 participants completed at least one question of the survey, and information necessary to calculate the cost of peer-review was available for 308 participants from 33 countries (44% from Canada). The cost of peer review was estimated at $US1,272 per person, per year ($US1,015 for initial review and $US256 for re-review), or US$1.1–1.7 billion for the scientific community per year. The global cost of peer-review was estimated at US$6 billion in 2020 when relying on the Dimensions database and taking into account reviewed-but-rejected manuscripts. Conclusions: Peer review represents an important financial piece of scientific publishing. Our results may not represent all countries or fields of study, but are consistent with previous estimates and provide additional context from peer reviewers themselves. Researchers and scientists have long provided peer review as a contribution to the scientific community. Recognizing the importance of peer-review, institutions should acknowledge these costs in job descriptions, performance measurement, promotion packages, and funding applications. Journals should develop methods to compensate reviewers for their time and improve transparency while maintaining the integrity of the peer-review process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ATTITUDE (Psychology) - Abstract
Sociolinguistic research shows that Brazilian Portuguese presents two variants in the nominal phrase: (a) the realization of the definite article before anthroponyms (eg. O João) and (b) the non-realization of the definite article before anthroponyms (eg. João). The variation of these forms is related to the influence of the diatopic variable: in cities in the Northeast, the non-realization of the definite article before proper nouns is the most common strategy, contrary to what happens in cities in the South and Southeast (CALLOU; SILVA, 1997; VERÍSSIMO, 2021). Besides these two possibilities, there is another possibility that has been underinvestigated in which a feminine article is used before a masculine anthroponym (eg A João). The use of this variant is rising and is found in the speech of members of the LGBT+ community. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to investigate the feeling of inclusion of university students who live in Recife about the use of this variant. For this purpose, 60 speakers (30 students who belong to the LGBT+ community and 30 students who do not belong to this community) participated in language attitude surveys, with a 5 point Likert type scale. The results show that the community influences on emerging variant: LGBT+ group feels included using this variant, unlike the group that does not belong to this community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PRESS releases - Abstract
Proceeding from the importance of studying the contemporary Arabic language at its various levels and forms, and as a continuation of a previous research effort that dealt with the patterns of the nominal sentence in models from a Qatari newspaper, this research comes to present a statistical grammatical study of the patterns of verbal structures in the Qatari newspaper Al-Raya, as an example of the language of contemporary journalism, through a research sample that includes twenty-four issues dating back to 2017, which is divided into three types of journalistic writing: the article (133 articles), the report (226 reports) and the news (650 press releases). The aim behind this study is clarifying the patterns of verbal contemporary structures in the selected sample, and to determine the extent of their variation according to the different written genres, as well as to identify some phenomena of the verbal sentence structures and their characteristics in this model, in terms of their linguistic modernity or change and distance from the norm. This will make us look at some structures in their general frameworks, whether they are related to the verbal or nominal sentence. For this reason, in the title, we coupled the term “its patterns” to “their general components.” This can be achieved through two main topics: the first deals with counting the patterns of verbal structures distributed over the elements of the verbal sentence and its grammatical types with examples, and the second topic is an analytical reading to find out the extent of the distribution of patterns of structures on the specific journalistic writing genres, in addition to addressing the characteristics of some structures and grammatical phenomena related to the verbal sentence –or other- In the language of the examined press sample. Introduction: Scientific publications originating from medical specialty theses are seen as a start to an academic career for clinicians and a criterion to work in academia in Turkey. Aim: To evaluate thoracic surgery theses in the period 2001-2019 in publication and other bibliometric parameters. Material and methods: Our study investigated 319 theses prepared in the thoracic surgery field between January 2001 and December 2019 and registered in the National Thesis Center. We identified and recorded the author's gender, institution, research method, publication status, time, citations, journals' index, and author's order using Google Scholar, Web of Science Basic Search, and Master Journal List. Results: Of the 319 evaluated, 262 theses were from universities, and 57 were in Training and Research Hospitals. Thirty-two studies (10%) were experimental or prospective clinical. The number of published studies (38.5%) in journals was 123 (66 SCI/ SCI-E, 8 ESCI, three other international indexes, and 46 national indexes). Sixty (18.8%) authors were women. The mean time to publication was 4.31 ±2.95 years. It was 3.3 years for female researchers (p = 0.029). Experimental/prospective studies in universities were relatively higher. The number of citations in SCI/SCI-E journals was significantly higher (p < 0.001). The time to the publication of experimental/prospective studies was shorter (p = 0.039). Conclusions: The publication rate of thoracic surgery theses was 38.5%. Female researchers published their studies earlier. Articles in SCI/SCI-E journals had a higher number of citations. The time to publication was significantly shorter in experimental/ prospective studies. This study is the first in the literature as a bibliometric report of the thoracic surgery thesis. 10. Some observations on the language of Linear A.

Monti, Orazio
- Abstract
Examination of the Linear A texts confirms that - the language of Linear A is probably only one (§ 1); - the alternation a-/ja- in a-sa-sa-ra-me/ja-sa-sa-ra-me etc. is likely due to the presence of a prefix i/j- and not to a laryngeal or a graphic variant (§ 2); - the sequence -i-*301- of a-ta-i-*301-wa-ja and variants is probably a verbal root (§§ 3-4); - (j)a-sa-sa-ra-me probably means 'gift, homage' vel. sim. (but not necessarily 'sacred') and not 'offering' (§ 5); - the prefix i/j- probably has the function of an article and i-na- could be its plural form (§ 6). More generally, convincing arguments have already been put forward which strongly suggest that the language of Linear A is probably neither Indo-European nor Semitic (Afro-Asiatic), nor an ergative language such as Hurro-Urartian (§ 7). The aim of this paper is to present the involvement of public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Poland in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2021. The reason for undertaking the research was a noticeable lack of studies in the literature on the engagement of universities in the concept of sustainability. The research conducted was mainly qualitative in nature. The aim was realized using three groups of research methods: collection of empirical data, data processing, and the presentation of study outcomes. The study used 16 indicators, constructed from data taken from SciVal and RAD-on reports. These indicators presented the number of publications promoting each of the SDGs in 2021 per academic staff and other persons carrying out and participating in teaching or research activities. The research was conducted on 57 universities from Poland. Four clusters were distinguished as a result of the cluster analysis that was performed. The first cluster comprised only universities of life sciences. This group had the highest publication productivity for the following goals: SDG2, SDG3, SDG6, SDG11, SDG12, SDG13, SDG14, SDG15, and SDG16. The universities that made up cluster 2 (predominantly universities of technology) specialized in publications related to goals such as SDG7 and SDG9. The highest publication productivity for SDG1, SDG4, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10, and SDG16 belonged to cluster 3 (consisting mainly of universities of economics). The HEIs (mainly universities of physical education) that made up cluster 4 did not have the highest publication productivity in any of the SDGs. Therefore, it can be concluded that, in 2021, there was a correlation between the profile of a public HEI in Poland and the SDGs it was involved in promoting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aims to compare the researchers' views in two fields about the importance of criteria for submitting an article to the journal and the degree of thematic relevance of the proposed results of the RICeST Journal Finder. Methodology: The research is a survey in terms of applied purpose and the data collection method and was done in two steps; First, due to the lack of a standard questionnaire, while studying the literature, important and common criteria for the researchers of the two fields were extracted and a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of 13 criteria was prepared. The face and content validity of the questionnaire was done by 10 experts in information science and epistemology. Then, in order to identify the importance of the criteria as well as the thematic relevance of the system's proposed results, subject matter experts (reviewers) in two fields from all over Iran were used. Findings: Criteria of Peer review, thematic relevance of the article with the thematic scope of the journal, and having an impact factor from the perspective of researchers in both groups, were the most important and the age of the journal was the least. Measuring the thematic relevance of the results suggested by the system using the opinions of experts showed that in more than 85% of the queries, the proposed publication for the article is completely relevant. There is no statistically significant difference between the opinions of experts in these two areas. It is necessary to explain that the evaluation of the thematic relevance of the results was done after improving the existing challenges in the RICeST journal finder. Conclusion: There are many Journals in various scientific fields, so authors are facing challenges to find the most appropriate journal to publish their research findings. The results showed that the importance of the criteria of selecting the journal, from the viewpoint of national researchers, is consistent with the findings of international studies. However, considering the mental variables of researchers in different conditions, it is not possible to consider a single factor category to choose a journal to publish a manuscript; However, the possibility of refining the results, based on the priority criteria of the researchers has been introduced the use of Journal finder systems as an auxiliary tool that can be found more quickly and easily to a list of related publications. Among the other factors that can be examined objectively and are important, regardless of the author's priorities and limitations, is the thematic connection of the manuscript with the journal to which the manuscript is to be sent and published, which is the basis of the performance of the Journal finder systems. In general, according to the obtained results, the authors can use the RICeST journal finder at the national level to obtain relevant journals to publish the manuscript. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CORPORA , *SPANISH language , *GENERALIZATION , *PERSONALITY , *POSSIBILITY - Abstract
This text exposes the first results of an analysis of a corpus composed by 1 260 articles about language published in Spanish between 2002 and 2018. The articles were published in Latin American specialized journals in social sciences and humanities and were downloaded from the citational index SciELO. The purpose of this article is to stablish frequent marks of modalization within the corpus, in order to analyze its use and function regarding what we call impersonality and personality effects of this discursive genre. The study was developed following the principles of corpus linguistics as well as the modalization category. Two software programs were used: Iramuteq and Lexico 5. Results show the prevailing frequency of delocutive marks in the repeated segments, particularly in those that we classified as generalization, condition, opposition and possibility. These results indicate that delocutive marks are enunciated as relatively fixed expressions and they seem to relate to author's positions, positions which, as we argue, seem to be communicated by means of an impersonality effect. - Abstract
This study aims to define the epigraph, determine its place in the Turkish novel and consider it. The widespread use of epigraphs in Turkish novels necessitated this study. The occasional or systematic use of articles by Turkish novelists in their works requires an objective assessment from different positions - concept, purpose, aesthetics, statistics, style, etc. Evidence obtained in assessing the reasons and extent of such use, which is not typical for literary works, is higher than expected. For a clear understanding of the subject, it is necessary that the study be carried out without limitation by period, work, or genre. However, in many genres of literary works-novels, stories, essays, memoirs, poems, diaries, biographies, and interviews use of definitions by authors led to certain limitations in the intended study. Although usually preferred to use at the beginning of work, many works also use it at the beginning of each chapter. Again use of articles only in the intermediate parts of some works attracts attention in different ways. 729 novels were reviewed and 185 novels were identified among them. The purpose of this study is to define the concept of an epigraph in general and to study its use in the Turkish novel. To define the boundaries of the subject matter, the study will be based on novels from the Republican period articles preferred for use in novels prior to the relationship between work and the article classified as appropriate titles. Future research to explore this subject in areas such as the relationship between the main work article, collage, intertextuality, author preferences, and random or similar studies. In this paper, we propose an optimal control problem for an HIV infection model with cellular and humoral immune responses, logistic growth of uninfected cells, cell-to-cell spread, saturated infection, and cure rate. The model describes the interaction between uninfected cells, infected cells, free viruses, and cellular and humoral immune responses. We use two control functions in our model to show the effectiveness of drug therapy on inhibiting virus production and preventing new infections. We apply Pontryagin maximum principle to study these two control functions. Next, we simulate the role of optimal therapy in the control of the infection by numerical simulations and AMPL software. Introduction: Identifying highly cited articles helps researchers find the most important areas, effective authors in the field, pioneer countries and frequently used journals. This study aimed to review the 100 most highly cited articles published in telemedicine journals. Material and Methods: The list of the telemedicine journals was found by searching the “master journal list” of the Web of Science database. Then, the name of each journal was searched separately in the “Publication Name” section of the same database and the results were sorted based on the “times cited” order. The first 100 articles that received the most citations were selected. The journal name, study type and study field were extracted from the final articles. Results: The top 100 highly cited articles were published in the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare (n=54, 53.5%), Telemedicine and e-Health (n=45, 44.5%) and International Journal of Telemedicine and Applications (n=2, 2%). Most of the highly cited articles were review studies (n=55, 54%) and almost one-third of the reviewed articles were conducted on general telemedicine (n=28, 28%). Conclusion: This study revealed that some characteristics such as review studies, studies on general telemedicine, and studies being published in the oldest telemedicine journals were more likely used and cited. Document type (DT) assignment is an important feature from literature databases. This work evaluated how the literature databases and the publisher websites labeled "Top 100" (T100) papers, a recurring act for which researchers identify and analyze the 100 most cited entities (e.g. articles) within a pre-defined literature set. T100 papers concurrently indexed in the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus and PubMed databses were identified. Among the 248 T100 papers analyzed, no general consensus or consistent pattern was found for labeling T100 papers by the three data sources and the publishers' websites. All four sources labeled between 30-40% of the T100 papers as reviews. However, PubMed mostly did not give DT labels to the rest of the papers whereas WOS, Scopus, and publisher websites labeled them as articles. The inter-rater agreement was only fair; the decision seemed to be influenced by whether the authors mentioned the word "review" suggestive of the publication/document type in the title, abstract or keywords. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the publication status, research design, subjects and levels of evidence of theses written in the field of anaesthesiology and reanimation between 1970 and 2016 in Turkey. Methods: After the theses included in our study were accessed through the Higher Education Institution National Thesis Center, theses were searched using Google, Google Scholar, PubMed, and TR Directory TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM search engines. The publication status, research design, evidence levels, date of the published theses, journals and citation numbers for the theses were determined. Results: A total of 2,803 theses were included in our study. When the evidence levels of the theses are evaluated, it was determined that B evidence level was present in 1,603 (57.2%), C in 597 (21.3%), F in 256 (12.3%) and D in 257 (9.2%). It was also determined that 719 (25.7%) of the theses were published later. The time difference between the thesis and the publication year was 3.14 ± 2.26 years. Of these publications, 367 (51.0%) were appeared in national journals, with 293 in SCI-E (40.8%), 25 in SCI (3.5%) and 34 in other foreign journals (4.7%). While the rate of thesis studies with a prospective design decreased over the years, it was determined that experimental and retrospective thesis studies increased (P < .05). In the correlation analysis, there were weak correlations among the publication year, the number of citations and the impact of the journal. There was a positive correlation between the publication year and the number of cases. Conclusion: Although the number of prospectively designed theses and clinical theses in the field of anaesthesiology and reanimation has decreased over the years, there is an increase in the number of theses converted to publications. Although the rate of publication of theses abroad and in SCI-E journals has increased, decreases in the thesis rate published in SCI journals over the years and in the impact factors of the journals are notable. In the future, studies in anaesthesiology and reanimation should be performed to increase the number of theses that can be published in journals with higher impact. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SPANISH language , *LINGUISTIC analysis , *PREPOSITIONS , *NOUNS , *TEACHING aids - Abstract
Noun is the first language unit faced by a language learner trying to understand how to name a subject, phenomenon, feature or condition. It can be proven by the fact that the acquisition of the noun, its gender and number appear at the top of the content of linguistic didactic materials. However, words alone cannot express an idea, and each language has its own system of how this is achieved (Loja 1968: 204), therefore, it is essential to understand the noun paradigm of each language to be learned and how the seemingly missing word forms are replaced. The noun paradigm in Spanish differs significantly from the Latvian language, because the Spanish language is more analytical and inflections are expressed through various prepositions, but their certainty or uncertainty is expressed by an article, which is only in some cases comparable to demostrative pronouns in Latvian and is mostly not understood by the Latvian user. The aim of the study is to highlight the most significant difficulties in acquiring the Spanish noun, which stem from the comparison of the grammar of Spanish and Latvian, and from the analysis of Spanish linguistics and the morphosyntactic differences of the noun in both languages. The study methodology follows from an analysis of the morphosynactic features of the noun described in Latvian grammar materials (Kalme, Smiltniece 2001; Beitiņa 2009, etc.) and their comparison with Spanish grammar (Alarcos 2000; RAE 2017, etc.) and the noun acquisition methods proposed by the Spanish linguistic didactics materials (Rozenbergs 1997; Aragonés, Palencia 2010; Seijas, Troitiño 2018; González, Romero 2019, etc.). The study concludes that it is necessary to include a more complete explanation of the noun in the teaching materials, combining it immediately with the use of the article and prepositions that express the equivalent inflections to the nouns of the Latvian language. Similarly, it is necessary to contrast other independent word classes that influence the specifics of morphosyntax in Latvian and Spanish and to develop the Spanish language teaching material aimed at native Latvian users. COVID-19 , *COVID-19 pandemic , *PANDEMICS , *STAY-at-home orders , *RADIOLOGY - Abstract
To understand how COVID-19 pandemic has changed radiology research in Italy. A questionnaire (n = 19 questions) was sent to all members of the Italian Society of Radiology two months after the first Italian national lockdown was lifted. A total of 327 Italian radiologists took part in the survey (mean age: 49 ± 12 years). After national lockdown, the working-flow came back to normal in the vast majority of cases (285/327, 87.2%). Participants reported that a total of 462 radiological trials were recruiting patients at their institutions prior to COVID-19 outbreak, of which 332 (71.9%) were stopped during the emergency. On the other hand, 252 radiological trials have been started during the pandemic, of which 156 were non-COVID-19 trials (61.9%) and 96 were focused on COVID-19 patients (38.2%). The majority of radiologists surveyed (61.5%) do not conduct research. Of the radiologists who carried on research activities, participants reported a significant increase of the number of hours per week spent for research purposes during national lockdown (mean 4.5 ± 8.9 h during lockdown vs. 3.3 ± 6.8 h before lockdown; p =.046), followed by a significant drop after the lockdown was lifted (3.2 ± 6.5 h per week, p =.035). During national lockdown, 15.6% of participants started new review articles and completed old papers, 14.1% completed old works, and 8.9% started new review articles. Ninety-six surveyed radiologists (29.3%) declared to have submitted at least one article during COVID-19 emergency. This study shows the need to support radiology research in challenging scenarios like COVID-19 emergency. • COVID-19 outbreak drastically impacted on Italian radiological research. • Most ongoing radiological trials have been stopped during the first national lockdown. • Italian radiologists spent even more time on radiology research during the lockdown. • Many COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 trials have been pushed forward during the lockdown. BIBLIOMETRICS , *SAUDI Arabians , *HUMAN genetics , *ENGLISH language , *PERIODICAL publishing , *MIDDLE East respiratory syndrome - Abstract
Several studies have summarized the biomedical publications in Arab countries. However, the quantity of health-related article publications from universities in recent years in Saudi Arabia is unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis that showcases the quantitative health-related article publications output from universities in Saudi Arabia between 2008 and 2017. An extensive literature search was conducted using the PubMed database. The search was limited to original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses published in the English language reporting on humans from medicine and health sciences colleges by researchers affiliated with any university in Saudi Arabia between January 2008 and December 2017. A total of 3172 articles were found published between January 2008 and December 2017. The number of publication output increased significantly (p = 0.0027) from 73 (2.3%) in 2008 to 721 (22.7%) in 2017. The highest quantity of publications came from the Riyadh region (n = 2257), specifically King Saud University (n = 1538). Of specific journals, the BioMed Central journals published the most articles by Saudi Arabian researchers (n = 112). The total number of publications increased from 2% to 24.8% by region. However, approximately 80% of the papers were published in journals with an impact factor (IF) <3. Around 3.8% of the papers were published in journals that had an IF ≥6 and has increased significantly (p = 0.030) from 0% to 1.2% in the past decade. The journal with the highest IF that published a high quantity of articles was the American Journal of Human Genetics. This study has identified a continuous significant increase in the publication of health-related articles from universities in Saudi Arabia. This study extended our knowledge of the quantity of scientific productivity in the field of medicine and health sciences over a recent decade. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GEOGRAPHIC spatial analysis , *BIBLIOMETRICS , *INFORMATION overload , *ENVIRONMENTAL sciences , *INDUSTRIAL hygiene , *ENVIRONMENTAL health - Abstract
Since the 1990s, the increase in the number of publications about spatial analysis has been exceptional, and spatial analysis has been incorporated into numerous research areas. However, the magnitude of this expansion can cause information overload for researchers since it hinders the selection of the most relevant texts and authors. To assess this scenario, a bibliometric analysis was performed of articles about spatial analysis from between 1950 and 2019. The results showed that in this 70-year period, the annual growth rate was 11.5%. Between 1990 and 2019, the number of publications grew 128 times (17.55%). The citations revealed that ecology was the most representative journal and subject category. Bibliographic coupling reinforced the leading place of researchers from ecology, and cocitation supposed those from geography. The bibliometric measures also highlighted various interdisciplinary categories: environmental sciences, public environmental and occupational health, and multidisciplinary geosciences were the most productive disciplines. The historical context of the evolution of spatial analysis and its integration with geographic information systems indicates that technological development has contributed to disseminating its use, expanding its respective scales of analysis, and connecting distinct areas of research. NEUROSURGEONS , *WORD frequency , *NEUROSURGERY , *SAMPLE size (Statistics) , *STATISTICS - Abstract
A scientific publication is a mirror that defines the image of a researcher in his academic and professional world. Neurosurgery and Journal of Neurosurgery (JNS) are the 2 most reputed journals in the neurosurgical community. We evaluated all the original articles published in these 2 journals in the last issue of the year/December (2000–2019). We excluded all review articles and determined number of authors, institutions, and highest educational degrees. Individual abstracts were evaluated for the nature of the study, population, and citations with individual and comparative statistical analyses. A total of 682 original articles were analyzed. Neurosurgery had an increase in the number of authors (8.0 ± 4.11 compared with 5.65 ± 1.99), an increase in title word count (15.14 ± 5.05 from 13.2 ± 4.46), and an increase in basic science research (0.9% to 11.6%). Retrospective studies increased in JNS (35.8% to 46.8%), with fewer studies on animals (18.4% to 8.1%). An increase in number of authors from 6.1 ± 2.6 to 7.2 ± 3.2 and title count was similar. Between the 2 journals, the citation score for JNS improved faster compared with Neurosurgery , consistently. Studies of adult patients received more citations than did animal or pediatric studies. Clinical research garnered 19% more citations along with research with more collaborating institutes (coefficient = 3.5). Title count had a weak negative correlation to citations received. Multiauthor and multi-institutional studies ensure greater expertise and thus better impact. Limited by the sample size, only a weak correlation was found with increased title count and retrospective studies with citations, although their increase is an indicator of future trends. Both journals have shown a steady increase in their impact and quality of publications. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first to examine the correlation of various factors and citations in neurosurgery in the post-2000 era. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, the current rectors of 197 universities (127 public and 70 non-profit foundation universities) in Turkey were examined in terms of their sociodemographic characteristics, career development, and academic qualifications (the number of published articles and citations and H-index). The data were collected via a prosopograhical approach from the official websites of the universities and the presidents, as well as the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The findings suggest that the presidents may be classified into two groups based on their sociodemographic characteristics, career development, and academic qualifications. In the first group are those rectors who are dominantly male, are graduates of Turkish universities, and have lower academic qualifications in terms of the number of published articles, citations of their published works, and their H-index. The social media posts of the members of this group show intense loyalty and support to Turkey's governing ideology, and the academic performance of the universities managed by these rectors is poor. The second group of rectors is also male-dominant and is comprised of graduates of foreign universities. These individuals generally have backgrounds in engineering, medicine or administrative science, and higher academic qualifications in terms of the number of published articles, citations of their published works and their H-index. Their social media posts often include news related to students and their academic and scientific achievements. The academic performance of the universities managed by these rectors was also found to be high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
While hundreds of scientific and artistic studies have been undertaken about Yunus Emre, one of the most important figures of Turkish culture and literature, only a few bibliographic studies have been chosen to compile these studies. Moreover, some of the studies are quite narrow in scope. There has been a rapid increase in the literature about Yunus Emre since the first comprehensive bibliographic study covering the period up to 1991. However, it remains a major shortcoming in the field that a comprehensive bibliography study has not been conducted. In this paper, which was written on the occasion of Yunus Emre Year, the author aimed to make a bibliographical master-text of the literature about Yunus Emre from 1991 to 2021. The bibliographic tags of the books, theses, articles, symposiums, and papers published between these years are given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The direct torque control (DTC) of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives is a noticeable practice in industrial applications due to its quick dynamic performance. However, due to the presence of hysteresis controllers and inaccurate switching tables especially for the multilevel fed DTC drives are facing higher ripples in torque and flux response. An improved DTC for three‐level open‐end winding PMSM drive is proposed in this article and features reduction of flux and torque ripples. The torque and flux performances of the PMSM are directly controlled by the calculated reference voltage vector in the stationary reference frame. The voltage vector tables are proposed based on the length of the voltage space vectors and the actual voltage vector nearer to the calculated reference voltage vector is selected so that the minimum ripples exist in flux and torque responses. The steady‐state and dynamic conditions of the proposed DTC method are verified in the real‐time experiment and also compared with the conventional DTC as well as the recently developed control methods. Case reports are valuable sources in medical studies and they play an equally important role in scientific progress. The case report goes a long way from 1600 BC to the present day. Facing new clinical cases by physicians and other researchers and reporting it as a clinical case report article can be a prelude to further studies. Unfamiliarity with the basic principles of writing case reports has reduced the willingness to write and publish these articles, especially by young researchers. Understanding this historical course and the correct way of writing a case report, in addition to its scientific value, can be a great educational experience, especially for medical students and young physicians. The purpose of this article is to provide a standard guide for writing and publishing case report articles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of every academician and clinical dermatologist is to publish their research in reputed biomedical journals. But from conceptualization to completion, myriad shortcomings creep into the article and by the time it is ready for publication, by default and certainly not by design, the article discourse gets flawed, sometime fatally so. The endeavor of this article is to discuss these pitfalls from conceptualization, statistical machinations, authorial misconcepts, article structuring, and final journal selection. The article can function as a prophylactic checklist, albeit not comprehensive, by any prospective author and is an appreciation of the most oft repeated fallacies usually detected in publication submissions. Leyla Hanım one of the most important divan poets of the 19th century, she is also one of the last names representing divan literature in the transition to Tanzimat. Although we draw attention to the naats and elegies of Leyla Hanım's Divan, we witness that she is the Mevlevi in her poems. For this reason, in our study, the sources of Leyla Hanım are examined by considering the Mevlevi and Kerbela elegies. This study consists of an introduction and two parts. In the introduction part, the life and Divan of Leyla Hanım are briefly mentioned. In the first part, although the manuscripts of Leyla Hanım's divan are given, information is given about the pressure of the divan. In the second part, the manuscripts which include Leyla Hanım's poems, books, articles, papers and theses about Leyla Hanım and her poems are given. Since there was no bibliography about Leyla Hanım, this study was intended to be a helpful resource for those who would like to learn about Leyla Hanım. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The popularization of science is essential to consolidate academic dialogue and scientific-technical development. Now, much of the research that is done and disseminated does not produce the expected impact since the means of dissemination are not the most appropriate in some cases. The purpose of this work is to review the selection criteria for scientific journals in order to submit articles for publication. Thus, it proposes a series of indicators that guide the selection of a journal that meets the best conditions in the field of visibility, access, impact and quality of information. Objective: To analyze the contents and format of peer review proforma of Medical journals of Pakistan. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Lady reading Hospital Peshawar Pakistan from 3rd August 2018 to 9th February 2019. An email was sent to the chief editors of all the medical journals listed on the official website (www.pmdc.org.pk) of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). They were requested to send peer review proformas of their journals. The received proformas were analyzed for major contents and format or style. The proforma had a structured format when each portion of the manuscript i.e, title, abstract, key words, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion and references were individually sectioned for evaluation. Whereas in the unstructured proformas the reviewer was asked to assess the manuscript as a whole. Results: We received 41 proformas via emails. Majority (82.9%) of the proformas were structured while 17% were unstructured. A scoring or rating system for the manuscript was present in 31.7% of the proformas while 43.9% of the proformas were without any scoring system. Guidelines for the peer reviewers were given in 58.5% of the proformas. The peer review policy (closed or open) was mentioned in only 7.3%. About 9.7% of the proformas asked the reviewers to disclose conflict of interests. Conclusion: A spectrum of contents and format of peer review proformas of medical journals were observed. We found structured peer review proforma with a scoring scale comprehensive and more appropriate for peer review. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL networks , *SOCIAL science research , *ACQUISITION of data , *LITERATURE reviews , *RESEARCH & development - Abstract
Objective: To investigate evidence on the use of social networks to collect data in scientific productions in the health area. Material and method: An integrative literature review from primary studies indexed in the SciELO, PubMed, LILACS, Scopus, and Web of Science platforms. Results: 16 scientific articles were selected, of which nine focused on the use of WhatsApp; five, on the use of Facebook; and two, on employing Twitter to collect data in scientific productions. Growth was noted on the number of investigations associated to the use of social networks, although an important paradigm still exists related to the use to generate scientific evidence, resulting in a still low number of investigations on this theme. Conclusions: The health area needs to approach evermore the development of research associated to social networks, given that this would enable a viable and rapid intervention in obtaining responses, besides being a low cost and very promising tool for data collection. ABSTRACTING , *WRITING processes , *RESEARCH , *REPORT writing - Abstract
This article deals with formulating a suitable title and an appropriate abstract for an original research paper. The "title" and the "abstract" are the "initial impressions" of a research article, and hence they need to be drafted correctly, accurately, carefully, and meticulously. Often both of these are drafted after the full manuscript is ready. Most readers read only the title and the abstract of a research paper and very few will go on to read the full paper. The title and the abstract are the most important parts of a research paper and should be pleasant to read. The "title" should be descriptive, direct, accurate, appropriate, interesting, concise, precise, unique, and should not be misleading. The "abstract" needs to be simple, specific, clear, unbiased, honest, concise, precise, stand-alone, complete, scholarly, (preferably) structured, and should not be misrepresentative. The abstract should be consistent with the main text of the paper, especially after a revision is made to the paper and should include the key message prominently. It is very important to include the most important words and terms (the "keywords") in the title and the abstract for appropriate indexing purpose and for retrieval from the search engines and scientific databases. Such keywords should be listed after the abstract. One must adhere to the instructions laid down by the target journal with regard to the style and number of words permitted for the title and the abstract. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MUSIC & society , *INFORMATION resources , *LEXICON , *AUTHOR-editor relationships , *TWENTIETH century , *ENCYCLOPEDIAS & dictionaries , *MANUSCRIPTS , *ENSEMBLE music - Abstract
In the broad spectrum of the musical activities of distinguished Croatian musicologist Krešimir Kovačević (1913-1992), who was a music writer, critic, teacher, conductor and, among other things, Editor-in-Chief of the Croatian Musicological Review Arti musices (1973-79) -- his lexicographical work is generally known, but still not fully recognised although his lexicographical opus as an author and editor in terms of range and quantity is the biggest in Croatian musical lexicography in the second half of the 20th century. His most signifi cant lexicographical contribution was as the chief editor of the second edition of the Music Encyclopaedia (3 volumes, 1971-77) as well as the Lexicon of Yugoslav Music (Leksikon jugoslavenske muzike, 2 volumes, 1984) both published by Institute of Lexicography in Zagreb. This paper is focused on the Lexicon of Yugoslav Music as the example of his lexicographical work as the chief editor and writer. The method used for this focus was to look from »inside« and the aim was to study and to follow the stages in the process of the construction of the Lexicon. So, it is not the Lexicon itself which is under analysis but the manuscript of the »abecedarium«, i. e. index of entries (Abecedar natuknica) for the Lexicon as well as other documents found in the archives of The Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography in Zagreb. An analysis of the »abecedarium«, which has multiple layers of handwritt en notes revealed some of Kovačević's interventions and decisions as chief editor such as, his annulments of certain numbers of the originally planned entries as well as bringing new entries onto the list, introducing a specifi c kind of entry (short articles about individual pieces of music), joining small entries together to cover the bigger topics and selecting cross-references. Considering the fact that articles in this Lexicon are unsigned, the other goal of this paper is to detect Kovačević's contribution as author and for the fi rst time to compile a list of his articles. With regard to the »abecedarium«, although it contains the names of the contributors of the articles, it has been revealed as an unreliable source for establishing this list because of its inconsistencies in listing Kovačević sometimes as the author, and sometimes as the editor of a specifi c article. It was therefore necessary to use the method of comparison of the signed articles in the 2nd edition of the Music Encyclopaedia with the same entries in the Lexicon of Yugoslav Music. The result of this comparison created not only a more accurate list of Kovačević's articles in the Lexicon, but also resulted in the discovery that there are many articles (by him and other authors) that were copied or transferred from the Music Encyclopaedia (some changed to a lesser or greater extent). Despite this, the list of his articles is impressive and unexpectedly large -- 829 articles with 20,730 lines in total (a full one-sixth of the Lexicon). These articles range in size from 2 lines up to 1,550 lines, covering such diverse topics as biography, articles about the individual music pieces as well as entries about various ensembles, institutions, festivals, music societies and cities. In conclusion, this »inside view« reveals Kovačević's vast personal engagement and enthusiasm to complete this Lexicon, which, despite some imperfections, still stands as a valuable source of information pertaining to Croatian musical history. MACHINE learning , *CANCER research , *ARTIFICIAL neural networks , *ARTIFICIAL intelligence , *MACHINE theory - Abstract
Background: Current multi-petaflop supercomputers are powerful systems, but present challenges when faced with problems requiring large machine learning workflows. Complex algorithms running at system scale, often with different patterns that require disparate software packages and complex data flows cause difficulties in assembling and managing large experiments on these machines. Results: This paper presents a workflow system that makes progress on scaling machine learning ensembles, specifically in this first release, ensembles of deep neural networks that address problems in cancer research across the atomistic, molecular and population scales. The initial release of the application framework that we call CANDLE/Supervisor addresses the problem of hyper-parameter exploration of deep neural networks. Conclusions: Initial results demonstrating CANDLE on DOE systems at ORNL, ANL and NERSC (Titan, Theta and Cori, respectively) demonstrate both scaling and multi-platform execution. Highlights • China's MI field has undergone significant development. • Few authors have high-quality articles and high output. • The collaboration intent of authors is growing stronger. • The field of research is relatively stable. • Current advanced technologies continue to emerge in MI research. Abstract Background As the world's second largest economy, China makes unique contributions to the world in many fields, including sociology, the economy, technology and defense. Medical informatics (MI) is an important cross-disciplinary field that, along with its applications, has received massive funding from the Chinese government. However, the question of how to evaluate China's input and output in MI remains important and complex issue of great significance for China and the rest of the world. Objective This paper analyzed, for the first time, the quality and quantity of research by Chinese academics in MI based on their articles published in international specialty journals in recent years and examined MI research hotspots in China. Our purpose is to summarize the experiences and lessons learned by China and the rest of the world as they develop MI. Method We targeted 18 MI journals listed in the JCR 2016 report and searched for papers published by Chinese academics in these 18 journals in the WOS and PUBMED databases and on journal sites. We also performed data cleansing and categorized the obtained information. We used Excel, SPSS, Ucinet and NetDraw to conduct quantitative analyses on the research papers. Results A total of 1340 articles satisfied the inclusion criteria of this study. We observed a significant upward trend in the number of articles published over time, particularly after 2011. Lei Jianbo, Huang Zhengxing and Li Jin-song are active Chinese authors in the MI discipline who have written many high-quality publications. Meanwhile, universities remain the primary breeding grounds for scientific research: 93.36% of the articles came from universities. Zhejiang University published the most first-author articles, whereas Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tsinghua University produced 17.76% of the total articles. According to the lists of authors, 24% of the papers were co-authored with foreign researchers. This rate of cooperation is increasing each year, from 5.88% to the current rate of 39.04%. An analysis of keywords showed that “EMR”, “SVM”, “Authentication”, “Telecare medical information system”, “EEG”, “ECG” and “RFID” were the most frequently searched terms in popular technological fields, including artificial intelligence and image processing. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of high-frequency keywords and a broadening range of research fields, which has led to the emergence of several research hotspots, including MI systems, mobile health care, telecare, data mining and machine learning. Conclusions Through the quantitative analysis of publications, we discovered the emergence of three stages – infancy, slow growth and rapid growth – in China's MI research in recent years as academics make achievements in their research works. The global influence of Chinese academics is growing, and they are making increasingly conscious efforts to enter into research collaborations with foreign researchers. The findings of Chinese academics’ publications are gaining international recognition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The English article system presents a particular challenge to learners. This paper explores the acquisition of articles by Chinese learners of English in two corpora: one of Asian college EFL students, and one of Chinese professionals living and working in the United States. It seeks to describe patterns of L2 English articles across different proficiency levels. Our results show a surprising level of conformity of accuracy rates across participant proficiency levels. L2 speakers use articles in the most native-like manner in plural contexts. Certain errors are common, such as overusing the zero article in inappropriate contexts. Other errors are nonexistent, such as using more than one determiner in a noun phrase. In the end, we emphasize the importance of educators examining their students’ L2 article use with an eye towards the commonly made errors that we uncover. In addition, we advise that L2 article patterns might appear grammatical, but still represent an oversimplified understanding of the English article system. We also suggest further topics for research in L2 acquisition of the noun phrase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
