In this article, Early Career Task Force Group members of the Turkish Thoracic Society summarize the European Respiratory Society 2020 virtual congress. Current developments in the field of respiratory diseases were compiled with the addition of sessions specific to coronavirus disease 2019 this year. Almost all of the congress sessions were examined, and the important and striking results of the congress were highlighted. Congress sessions were attended by expert researchers, and the prominent messages of each session were highlighted in short summaries. They were then grouped under relevant titles and ranked in order of meaning and relation. It was finalized by a team of researchers.

Genel olarak nano dolgular, fiber takviyeli polimer esaslı kompozitlerin mekanik ve darbe davranışlarını arttırır. Bununla birlikte, nano dolgu maddelerinin hibridizasyona etkileri ve bunların nano ölçekli hasar mekanizmaları üzerindeki nedenleri, kumaş takviyeli kompozitler için yeterince çalışılmamıştır. Bu çalışmada karbon nanotüpler, nanokil partikülleri takviyeli epoksi karbon kumaş kompozit boruların düşük hızlı darbe tepkileri ve mekanik özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Karbon kumaş kompozit borular, ağırlıkça %1 ve 3 karbon nanotüp ve ağırlıkça %1 ve 3 nanokil parçacıkları ve nano madde dolgusuz olarak, elle yatırma tekniği kullanılarak hazırlanmıştır. Karbon nanotüp (MWCNT), nanokil takviyeli epoksi karbon kumaş kompozit borular için düşük hız darbe etkileri ve mekanik özellikleri, nanodolgu partiküllerin içeriğinin bir fonksiyonu olarak elde edilmiştir. ASTM D7136 / D7136 M-12 standartlarına göre 5 J, 10 J ve 15 J enerji seviyeleri için kompozit borulara düşük hızlı darbe testleri uygulanmıştır. 5J, 10 J ve 15 J için Karbon Kumaş/Epoksi’ye ilave edilen karbon nanotüpler (MWCNT) ve nanokil nanodolgularının, maksimum kuvvet, emilen enerji ve en düşük yer değiştirme ve geri tepme enerjisi gösterdiği gözlendi. Karbon Kumaş/Epoksi’ye ,MWCNT ve nanokil gibi nanohibrit ilavesi ise nano dolgu maddesi ilavesi olmayandan, daha yüksek düşük hızlı darbe tepkileri oluşturdu. Nano dolgu maddeleri eklenmemiş Karbon Kumaş/Epoksi kompozit örnekleri, en düşük maksimum kuvvet, en yüksek yer değiştirmeleri ve geri tepme enerjisini gösterdi. Sonuçlar, Karbon Kumaş/Epoksi kompozit borular ile karbon nanotüp (MWCNT) ve nanokil parçacık- larının artmasıyla mekanik özelliklerin önemli ölçüde arttığını göstermektedir., Generally, the nanofillers increase the mechanical and impact behaviors of fiber reinforced polymer based composites. However, the effects of the hybridization of nanofillers and their reasons over the nano scale damage mechanisms have not been adequately studied for fabric reinforced composites. The low velocity impact responses and mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes, nanoclays particles reinforced epoxy carbon fabric composite pipes have been evaluated in this study. Carbon fabric composite pipes have been prepared with 1 ,and 3 wt % of carbon nanotube and 1,and 3 wt% of nanoclay particles and unfilled nanofillers, using hand lay-up technique. Mechanical properties of low velocity impact for carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), nanoclays particles reinforced epoxy carbon fabric composite pipes have been obtained as a function of content of nanofillers particles. The low-velocity impact tests applied on composite pipes for energy levels 5 J,10 J, and 15 J according to in accordance with ASTM D7136 / D7136 M-12 standards. It was observed that carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and nanoclay nanofillers addition to Carbon Fabric/Epoxy for 5J, 10 J and 15 J showed maximum force, absorbed energy and the lowest displacements and rebound energy. MWCNTs and nanoclays nano-hybrid addition to Carbon Fabric/Epoxy improved higher low velocity impact responses than none nanofillers addition. The specimens of unfilled nanofillers Carbon Fabric/Epoxy composites showed the lowest maximum force , highest displacements and rebound energy. The results show that the mechanical properties are found to increase substantially with increasing carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and nanoclays particles with Carbon Fabric/Epoxy composite pipes.

Mesobuthus gibbosus (Brullé, 1832), Türkiye'nin sıcak ve kurak bölgelerinde geniş dağılış gösteren kurak faunanın enyaygın akrep türlerinden biridir. Mevcut çalışma laboratuvar koşullarında gözlemlenen ve Manisa (Türkiye) ilinde dağılışgösteren, M. gibbosus türünün biyolojisi ve ekolojisini ortaya koymak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma için, arazi çalışmalarıNisan 2003-Eylül 2004 arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Temmuz'dan Ağustos'a kadar olan üreme dönemi, türün en aktif olduğudönem olarak gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca, yavru bakımı, doğum yapma, deri değiştirme, beslenme alışkanlıkları ve ay döngüsününM. gibbosus üzerindeki etkileri üzerine bazı gözlemler sunulmuştur., Mesobuthus gibbosus (Brullé, 1832) is one of the most common scorpion species of arid fauna with a wide distribution in hot and arid regions of Turkey. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the biology and ecology of M. gibbosus under laboratory conditions and in the wild in Manisa province (Turkey). In this study, the field studies were carried out between April 2003 and September 2004. It was noted that the reproductive period, which lasts from July to August, was the most active period for the species. Also, some information is provided about maternal care, giving birth, molting, feeding habits, and effects of the lunar cycle on M. gibbosus

Deri önemli bir savunma hattıdır ve dış çevre ile iletişimkuran ve temasta olan bir organdır. Mevcut çalışma Hyla savignyi derisinin histomorfolojikkarakterlerinin değerlendirilmesi için planlandı. H. savignyi dorsal ve ventral derileri tıpkı diğer omurgalılarda olduğugibi çok katlı yassı epitel ve dermisten oluştu. Dermis, süngerimsi dermis ve kompaktdermisten oluştu. Hem dorsal hem de ventral deri örneklerinde iki tip dermal bez(granüler, mukoz bezler) tespit edildi. Granüler bezlerin lümeni güçlü asidofilikreaksiyon veren salgı granülleri ile doluydu. Mukoz bezler mukositler ile kaplıydıve mukoz bezlerin belirgin bir lümeni vardı. Derinin histomorfolojik özellikleribireysel varyasyon göstermedi., Integument is a prominent defenseline and is one of the organs for communication and contact with the external environment.The current study was designed to assess the histomorphological characteristicsof the skin of Hyla savignyi. The ventraland dorsal skins of H. savignyi were composedof a stratified squamous epithelium and dermis like that of any other vertebrate.The dermis was made up of spongious dermis and compact dermis. In both ventral anddorsal integument samples, two types of cutaneous glands (granular, mucous) wereidentified. The lumen of granular glands was filled with secretory granules thatshowed strong acidophilic reaction. Mucous glands were lined by mucocytes and hadan obvious lumen. Histomorphological characteristics of the skin did not show anyindividual variation.

Objectives: The inadequate quality and nature of sleep is a commonly reported problem among hospitalized patients. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of progressive muscle relaxation training program on sleep quality, sleep state, pain and life quality of patients who underwent pulmonary resection.

WOS: 000433481300010, In the present study, the species Eupholidoptera smyrnensis (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1882) (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae), Decticus verrucivorus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Orthoptcra: Tettigoniidae), and Glyphotmethis spp. (Orthoptcra: Pamphagidac) were studied in order to determine hemocyte types. lb that end, hemolymph smear preparations were stained using Wright's stain. According to light microscopic examinations, five hemocyte types, prohemocytes, plasmatocytes, granulocytes, spherulocytes, and oenocytoids, were determined in each species. Prohemocytes are basic and the smallest cell type in the hemolymph. Plasmatocytes show polymorphism and they may have pseudopodia. Granulocytes are characterized by granules in their cytoplasm. Spherulocytes typically include spherical vacuoles. Oenocytoids are the largest cells among hemocyte types. These hemocyte types have similar characteristics in all examined species. Hemocyte measurements were also made. According to these measurements, E. smyrnensis hemocytes were smaller than those of Decticus verrucivorus and Glyphotmethis spp. Although included in different families, the two closest species in terms of hemocyte size were D. verrucivorus and Glyphotmethis spp.

In this study, blood-serum proteins of 22 adult (11 MM , 11 VV ) Chalcides ocellatus (ocelated skink) specimens collected from various localities in Southern Anatolia are investigated qualitatively and quantitatively by means of polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis and densitometry. The species' serum protein electropherograms and protein distribution patterns are established for the first time.

Histomorphological structures of the femur and the second phalange of the second outer toe of the left frog leg were investigated using the decalcifying method in Rana bedriagae. Skeleton Growth Marks (SGMs) were clearly observed in Rana bedriagae and it was shown that the skeletochronological technique is convenient and applicable for the age determination of this species.

The erythrocyte sizes of some anurans from Turkey (Rana ridibunda, Bufo bufo, Bufo viridis, Pelobates syriacus, Bombina bombina, Hyla arborea) were established utilizing blood smears stained with Wright's stain. The largest erythrocytes were found in R. ridibunda, the widest in B. bombina and the smallest in P. syriacus.

In this study, the venom extract of five viper species (Vipera xanthina, Vipera ammodytes, Vipera kaznakovi, Vipera wagneri and Vipera lebetina) collected from various regions of Turkey was subjected to polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis. No pressure was applied to the venom glands to provide venom extract. Important differences were detected among the electrophoretic patterns of venom proteins belonging to the five viper species.

A total of 58 (24 MM , 34 VV ) Lacerta viridis specimens, which were collected from Turkish Thrace and the Black Sea region of Anatolia, were evaluated serologically. The analyses support the view that a single race of L. viridis (L. v. meridionalis) inhabits Turkey.

In the present study, a total of 115 (65 , 50 ) specimens of mountain frogs from the mid-Taurus Range between east longitudes 33o and 36o were investigated from the morphological and serological points of view. From the data obtained, no differences were found at species level among the 3 populations from the region.

Blood serum proteins of specimens belonging to Pelodytes caucasicus and Pelobates syriacus populations were compared qualitatively and quantitively by means of polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis and densitometry methods. It was determined that the blood serum proteins of both populations demonstrated qualitative and quantitive differences. This result supports the morphological and osteological studies emphasizing the fact that the genus Pelodytes needs to be treated as a separate family (Pelodytidae).

In this study, 15 adult (5 MM , 10 V V ) Rana ridibunda specimens were studied. According to the results of the mor-phological analysis, the Ivriz population was included in R. r. caralitana. Furthermore, the distribution area of R. r. caralitana was extended.

Observations during 2001 and 2002 at Uzungöl Lake (Trabzon), situated within the distribution area of Pelodytes caucasicus in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey, established that the usual breeding season of the species extended from mid July to mid September. Periodic day and night measurements of some ecological characteristics of the lake (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen) were recorded during the breeding season. The first spawning was observed during the night of 22 July 2001. Clutches (egg masses) were laid in the deeper parts of the lake, on submerged vegetation. The clutches contained between 446 and 492 eggs. The first larvae hatched 5 days after the spawning. They completed their metamorphosis in 31-35 days and then emerged on land. Levantine vipers, Macrovipera lebetina (Linnaeus), from Cyprus and southern Anatolia were investigated comparatively regarding morphology, hemipenes and electrophoresis patterns of venom proteins. There were discernible differences between these compared features of the 2 populations. In the light of these differences, it is concluded that the southern Anatolian population should not be identified as the nominate subspecies M. l. lebetina (Linnaeus), which lives in Cyprus. The study material from northeastern Anatolia did not allow us to make a good comparison between M. lebetina from southern and NE Anatolia., K›br›s ve Güney Anadolu’da yaflayan Koca Engerek y›lanlar›, Macrovipera lebetina morfoloji, hemipenis ve venom proteinlerinin elektroforetik modelleri aç›lar›ndan karfl›laflt›rmal› olarak araflt›r›lm›flt›r. Karfl›laflt›r›lan karakterler aç›s›ndan her iki populasyon aras›nda dikkate de¤er farkl›l›klar saptanm›flt›r. Bu farkl›l›klar ›fl›¤›nda, türe ait Güney Anadolu populasyonunun K›br›s’ta yaflayan nominat alttür, M. l. lebetina (Linnaeus) olarak ele al›namayaca¤› sonucuna var›lm›flt›r. Kuzeydo¤u Anadolu’dan çal›flma materyalinin yetersiz say›da oluflu, Güney ve Kuzeydo¤u Anadolu populasyonlar› aras›nda uygun bir karfl›laflt›rmal› çal›flma yapmam›za olanak vermemifltir.

In this study, the feeding biology is being examined on 80 Bufo viridis specimens (30 males, 50 females) which were all collected from 6 localities of the vicinity of İzmir. In accordance with the stomach content analysis it was fully determined that the species is predominantly nourished in a insectivorous way (92, 20%) and also Oligochaeta, Crustacea, Arachnida, Gastropoda, Diplopoda, Chilopoda and Amphibia take place in its nutrition types. Throught out the insects, Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Dermaptera, Homoptera, Plecoptera, Blattaria and Embioptera; from Oligochaeta Lumbriculida; from Crustacea Isopoda; from Arachnida Araneae and Opiliones; from Gastropoda Stylommatophora; from Diplopoda Julida; from Chilopoda Lithobiida and Scolopendrida and also from Amphibia only Anur genus were being determined.

ÖZETGİRİŞ: Yoğun bakım hastalarında sıvı dengesinin doğru ve hızlı bir şekilde belirlenmesi çok önemlidir. Sıvı dengesinin en iyi nasıl belirlenebileceği konusunda fikir birliği bulunmamakta ve literatürde farklı yöntemlerin kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Bu nedenle çalışmamızda dahili yoğun bakım ünitesinde yatan hastalarda inferior vena cava çapı ile bundan türetilen kollapsibilite ve distansibilite indeksleri ve proBNP düzeyinin sıvı dengesinin değerlendirilmesindeki yerini araştırmayı amaçladık.YÖNTEM VE GEREÇLER: TC Sağlık Bakanlığı Marmara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Pendik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Dahili Yoğun Bakım Ünitesine(YBÜ) Eylül 2013 – Şubat 2014 tarihleri arasında yatan hastalardan kendisinden ya da yakınlarından onam formu alınanlar prospektif olarak çalışmaya alınmıştır. Hastaların sıvı dengesi aldığı çıkardığı sıvı takibi(AÇT) ile belirlenmiştir. Hastaların YBÜ'ne yatışlarının ilk günü portabl ultrasonografi cihazı ile Amerikan Ekokardiyografi Derneğinin önerilerine göre, inferior vena cava çapları ölçülerek kollabsibilite ve distansibilite indeksleri hesaplanmış ve eş zamanlı kan proBNP düzeyleri Enzyme-Immunoassay (EİA) yöntemi ile ölçülmüştür.BULGULAR:Çalışmaya ortalama yaşları 57,8 ± 19,8 (18-89 yıl) olan, 126 hasta (70 erkek, %55,6) prospektif olarak alınmıştır. Hastaların 63 (%65,6) tanesi invazif, 33 (%34,4) tanesi non-invazif olmak üzere, 96 (%76,2) hasta mekanik ventilatör desteği almaktaydı. Çalışmaya alınan hastaların ortalama APACHE II skoru 24,3 ± 8,1 olarak hesaplandı. Hastaların 10 (%7,9) tanesine santral venöz basınç (SVB) kateteri takılmıştı. Çalışmaya alınan hastaların AÇT'ye göre ortalama sıvı dengeleri +635,8 ± 993,8 ml olarak saptanmıştır. Hastalar AÇT'ye göre gruplandıklarında 26 (%20,6) hasta negatif sıvı dengesinde, 100 (%79,4) hasta pozitif sıvı dengesinde olarak bulunmuştur. AÇT'ye göre pozitif sıvı dengesinde olan hastaların ortalama sıvı dengeleri +958,9 ± 742,8 ml, negatif sıvı dengesinde olanların ortalama sıvı dengeleri -582,2 ± 443,8 ml olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ortalama proBNP düzeyi 10645,9 ± 12731,1 pg/ml olarak saptanmıştır. AÇT'ye göre pozitif sıvı dengesindeki hastaların proBNP düzeyi ortalaması 11705,7 ± 13138,1 pg/ml (%95 CI: 8800,6 – 14610,8) iken negatif sıvı dengesindeki hastaların proBNP düzeyi ortalaması 6362,8 ± 10266,7 pg/ml (%95 CI: 1689,4 – 11036,1) olarak tespit edilmiştir. Her iki grup arasında, proBNP düzeyi pozitif sıvı dengesi olan grupta artma eğilimi göstermekle birlikte, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark saptanmamıştır (p>0,05). Aldığı çıkardığı takibine göre pozitif sıvı dengesindeki hastaların distansibilite indeksleri ve kollabsibilite indekslerinin dağılımı negatif sıvı dengesindeki hastalarla kıyaslandığında istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemiştir (p > 0,05). Hastaların hesaplanan kollabsibilite indeksleri ile ölçülen proBNP düzeyleri arasında ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı negatif korelasyon bulunmuştur (r=-0,409 p 0,05). Distansibility and collabsibility indices were not statsitically differen taccording to volume status (p > 0,05)CONCLUSION: proBNP level were not correlated with fluid balance. proBNP levels and inferior vena cava diameters negatively but weakly correlated.KEY WORDS: fluidbalance, inferior vena cava diameter, proBNP, ultrasonography 64
