Since the 1970’s to the present day, our notions of world heritage and archaeological heritage have changed greatly, a fact that is reflected in the different conventions and charters of ICOMOS and UNESCO. In this research we explore what these changes have been, the state of the art of rock art worldwide, and what are the trends towards the future of heritage declarations, delving into the specific case of outdoor rock art, since its fragile and accessible nature requires specific management plans appropriate to its needs and characteristics, and how the growing trend of naming cultural landscapes as world heritage can be a powerful tool for the conservation, protection and dissemination of these heritage assets and their environments. The main objective of our research lies on the identification of the main features of open-air rock art on the UNESCO World Heritage List, establishing their current situation as to their preservation and social awareness and the policies developed in each particular case. This will be done through research and bibliographical approximation of various research sources, as well as official resources already mentioned: World Conventions, recommendations and ICOMOS charters as reference instruments in the declarations and management strategies of archaeological heritage and rock art.

This paper, part of a larger project of the Faculty of Should it be 00186Engineering of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO (PRIN2010PEA4H8, Research Plan of National Interest, co-financed by the Italian Ministry for University Research), aims to provide documentation on the historical and archeological relevance of the Jewish Ghetto area in Rome, which is a site with numerous extraordinary features and memory traces of the past. The methodology adopted was mainly based on surveying activity—urban, architectural, and archeological—as well as the subsequent comparison of data obtained, investigating, and cataloging this tangible historical heritage and its relations with the archaeological heritage using the instruments of representation and surveying. Additionally, a different approach aimed at identifying a link between the subjective narration of the historical city and its objective description through the integration of digital methods of the cataloging and management of cultural heritage is applied.

The current trend toward the hybrid methodology of combining terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) with close-range and UAV-assisted photogrammetry is becoming the most effective method for the complete capture of archaeological sites. In this article, we consider three objectives in this regard: first, to check an integration procedure, based on different capture techniques, to obtain the best possible complete digital model in different situations related to size, lighting, and occlusions. Second, a "laser scanning with the help of photogrammetry" strategy for the operation with the different data sources, which allows to adapt the processes of photogrammetric orientation, cloud registration, and automatic texturing, to the characteristics of each capture model. Finally, to present the digital edition of these models through automatic technical projections and realistic visualizations, to show their ability to interpret their geometry or share their knowledge, respectively. - Abstract
This investigation has been carried out for my personal interest in the Cultural Heritage and in particular for the heritage buried under the zone of Hispalis-Seville, with scarce written evidence. Under the grounds of Seville the ellements from the past and current present get intermingled and this study intends to present a better understanding of the non visible zone. The study presents the relationship with the geotechnical, in a transversal and multidisciplinary way, with part of the ellements located in the underground – systems, tree roots, groundwater, basements and archeological rests -. This work, located in “Plaza de la Pescaderia”,which is part of the área of Alfalfa in Seville, has first started by compiling all the necessary information from documents related to the Historical site. In the second phase, a more specific analysis has been done, with the help of a thorough work in the corresponding entities, including the comparsion between them. In the third place all this has been verified in situ. To finalise, there has been presented a proposal of a model showing the real status of the underground of the chosen area. The outcome has been a visual graphich, a type of radiography, where the ellements are studied in one unique document. It has been considered that up until now, this has not been documented, where all the underground ellements are presented in the form they interfere and intervene as a whole instead of individually.

Se sugiere un esquema elemental de coordinación entre arquitectos y arqueólogos./Even though the Spanish government has the political resources to give protection to the archeological heritage, the problem with such heritage is the identification and the certain knowledge of its existence. It is necessary that multidisciplinary team's work on this so the parties involved will improve existing deficiencies in the education, especially education on restoration. A coordination plan between architects and archeologist is suggested.

This study investigates the archeological patrimony at classes based on teaching scenarios with 6th grade students from a state school from Nova Petrópolis (RS). The research aims to problematize some heritages that are officially recognized by the city and the students with the purpose of discussing selections and absences The methods approached in this study is based on the proposition ‘‘investigación práctica de la práctica de la enseñanza’’, from the Uruguayan author Ana Zavala. The theorical reflection related to the elaboration, application and analysis of a set of classes presents itself as an investigation about the history teaching. The literature review, regarding the archeological heritage, consisted in an analysis of educational material developed by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), the discussion of concepts approached in dissertations from the Heritage Professional Masters of IPHAN and a reflection about the experiences of archeology teaching in classes. During the analysis of the teaching scenarios, it was possible to recognize that the majority of students can recognize the existence of selections made with the purpose of thinking about the city’s history, marked by power and exclusion of specific groups. The students debated on different perspectives about the history of the city, where it was possible to made them think about the interests and positions that create historical narratives. Thus, the archeological heritage made it possible to reach a subversion of the official perspectives and, becomes legitimized by the view of these students. The dialogues, the exchanges, the open space for questions and listening stimulated the participation of the students and strengthened the established process and the dissertation itself became the purposeful dimension of this research.

In recent years, the district of Ciutat Vella of Barcelona has received a substantial influx of emigrants. As a result, there is a greater mixture of children in the schools. The project Patrimonia'm has been developed by the primary and secondary schools of the district in conjunction with the MUHBA, with the intention of improving social cohesion, communicating the city's heritage, promoting the values of citizenship and establishing connections between historical monuments and local community. This project is directed at senior primary schools students as well as junior secondary school students. The principal aim of the project is to care for and protect an element of the Roman city. In this way, we will create a complete learning experience focused on the archaeological object in a variety of contexts. The final outcome will be the development of a new set of pedagogic tools within the existent curriculum of the school -ones appropriate to the needs of these particular types of students.

The new section T3 of Rome Metro network (line C) stretches in an important World Heritage area (Colosseo, Fori imperiali etc.). In order to monitor and assure the safety of this heritage, a very complex monitoring network has been installed to provide information on monuments status, on the effectiveness of the designer’s hypothesis and on the evolution of the TBM tunnel excavation. In cooperation with METROC S.c.p.A, General Contractor for planning and construction of the project, a robotized inclinometer system was experimentally installed with the aim of measuring the deep-seated ground deformations in three sections with different inclinometer tubes length. This equipment allows the measurement of deep horizontal displacements using a single inclinometer probe and a robotic system that automatically manage the probe for the entire length of the borehole with 50 cm step and double reading (0/180°). The experimental activity was carried out before, during and after the TBM excavation and allowed the monitoring of three sections at the Basilica of Santo Stefano Rotondo al Celio (62 m), Fori Imperiali (43 m and 33 m) with a frequency of measurement up to 6 measurements/day. The results showed interesting relations between TBM progress and horizontal deep deformations induced by tunnel excavation. These deformations, although very small, highlighted the potential of this instrumentation in terms of accuracy, vertical spatial resolution and very high frequency of measurements. This type of results can be useful to a more complete interpretation of the subsoil deformations and interaction between excavation and the surrounding built environment.

The excavation of an archaeological site does not end with the discovery and documentation of the remains found. The lighting part in a heritage conservation project is not yet one of the principal ones, however, artificial light is becoming the protagonist of the nocturnal landscapes where the archeological heritage quialifies as an ideal scenario that draw the viewers attention and provokes them to understand the values that the ruin and light are able to transmit.

The discussions on the future of the antique city of Cherchell stem from a basic idea, one which explains in a given context the urbanistic aspects of urban archeology : how to reconcile archeology and urban projects ? This can only be achieved through the use of suitable tools filling the existing gaps in the urbanism instruments currently implemented in Algeria (PDAU and POS). These instruments are characterized by passive protection of the archeological site, considering it a priori as a non constructable area. It is then excluded from all urban dynamic circuits. These tools, consisting of sheets listing and identifying the archeological sites, therefore illustrate the intermediate path between that taken by those in favor of conservation and that taken by the advocates of the city. By using descriptive - analytical, historical, comparative and archaeological methods this paper analyzes the archaeological and historical explorations of the defensive systems of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Nemunas mounds and the possibilities to adapt it for cultural tourism. The main object of this analysis is one of the most extensive areas of archaeological heritage – mounds. In the Middle Ages they made up the defence system of Nemunas river and were the main pillar of defense while fighting against the Teutonic Order. The remaining mounds are the witnesses of the powerful and majestic history of Lithuania. The big part of the mounds are not yet suitable for tourism. Mound complexes of Seredžius, Veliuona and Sudargas are widely visited by tourists, but all the rest are hard to reach and not well maintained. However, this system of mounds are of great historical and archaeological importance, so it is necessary to make these mounds the centre of various cultural events that are taking place in Lithuania.

[EN] This study shows the first results of a research aimed at catching the potentiality of a series of low cost, free and open source tools (such as ARC3D, 123D Catch, Hypr3D). These tools are founded on the SfM (Structure from Motion) techniques and they are able to realize automatically image-based models starting from simple sequences of pictures data sets. Initially born as simple touristic 3D visualization (e.g. Photosynth) of archaeological and/or architectural sites or cultural assets (e.g. statues, fountains and so on), nowadays allow to reconstruct impressive photorealistic 3D models in short time and at very low costs. Therefore we have chosen different case studies with various levels of complexity (from the statues to the architectures) in order to start a first testing on the modeling potentiality of these tools., [IT] Il presente studio mostra i primi risultati di una ricerca volta a comprendere le potenzialità di una serie di applicativi low-cost, free e open source (ARC3D, 123D Catch, Hypr3D) basati sulle tecniche SfM (Structure from Motion) ed in grado di realizzare in maniera automatizzata modelli 3D fotografici a partire da semplici sequenze di immagini fotografiche.
