Leukemia is a neoplastic disorder of the blood forming tissues, primarily affecting leukocytes. This is heterogeneous group of diseases, which occurs from a neoplastic proliferation in the bone marrow. The replacement of normal bone marrow elements by leukemic cells causes decreased production of erythrocytes, normal white blood cells and platelets. The clinical result is anemia with weakness, fatigue, pallor of skin and mucosal membranes; thrombocytopenia with associated bleeding tendencies and leucopenia resulting in increased susceptibility to infection. Leukemia is of special interest to the dentists because he is frequently the first person to whom the patient turns for treatment. Dental procedures such as oral surgery, periodontal treatment, or even prophylaxis that produced trauma to the tissue may aggravate the situation and give rise to exacerbations of acute symptoms, which can result in death. Primarily, oral clinical manifestations may be consisting of gingivitis, gingival hyperplasia, hemorrhage, petechiae, erosion ulceration and necrosis of the gingiva and mucosa. The aim of this article is to evaluate the oral signs and symptoms of leukemia and present a clinical case, 59-old female with oral and extra-oral manifestation, as an initial signs of the disease.

Phase diagram of the ternary Ni–Sb–Zn system was investigated experimentally by DSC and SEM-EDS methods and theoretically by the CALPHAD method. The liquidus projection, invariant equilibria, several vertical sections and isothermal sections at 600 °C and 25 °C were predicted using COST MP0602 thermodynamic database. Phase transition temperatures of alloys along three predicted vertical sections of the Ni–Sb–Zn ternary system with molar ratio x(Ni):x(Zn) = 1, x(Ni):x(Sb) = 1 and x(Ni) = 0.2, were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Predicted isothermal sections at 600 °C and 25 °C were compared with the results of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) analysis from this work.

SUMMARY An approach to modelling of electrical and thermo-physical properties in small cylindrical volumes of cable insulation, that is, insulation spot samples is presented in this paper. Apart from small leakage currents, high currents can flow through these spots under fault conditions, at the same time heating up and destroying the cable insulation in them as well. An introduction of models for electrical and thermo-physical properties of the insulation to the nonlinear thermal finite element method (FEM) analysis of faults is demonstrated on the examples of short circuits that occurred in buried power cables. Nonlinearity of the thermal FEM model is based on the heat sources, electrical and thermo-physical properties of polyvinyl-chloride and cross-linked polyethylene insulation as functions of temperature and/or time. According to the DIN VDE standards, the cable structures considered herein correspond to the NAYY 4×120 SM 0.6/1 kV and NA2XY 4×120 SM 0.6/1-kV cables. The proposed models for insulation properties are applicable to the fault thermal FEM analysis of all multi-core power cables laid in the soils, air or water. 'White coat' hypertension is a transitory increase of the blood pressure in children and adults that is manifested in the presence of the medical doctor. The disorder is predominantly manifested in children whereas in adults appears to be significantly rare. It is considered that 20% of hypertension cases in children have white coat hypertension. The exact cause of white coat hypertension has remained established. Possible etiological factors are the following: heredity, psychological stress, type of a personality. The disorder is of usually mild clinical manifestations. The disorder has a tendency to evolve into sustained hypertension. The complications of the disorder can be presented as 'target organ damage'. Gold standard for diagnosis is 24/h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Drug therapy is usually unnecessary because, instead, the monitoring is advised over a longer period for timely diagnosis of persistent hypertension, which should be actively treated.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TPP) is a microvascular occlusive disorder with diverse symptoms including microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neurological and nephrological symptoms , as well as the occurrence of fever. Non-diagnosed and non-treated, the disease is in over 90% of cases with fatal outcome. This is an unusual case TPP patient who was being treated for diabetes mellitus type II and hypothyroidism.

Phase equilibrium of ternary Ga–Sb–Zn system was investigated by applying CALPHAD method and using literature thermodynamic data for constitutive binary systems. The liquidus surface and isothermal section at 673 K were calculated. Calculated results were verified experimentally on the alloys samples with the compositions corresponding to the characteristic vertical sections: SbZn (1:1)–Ga; GaZn(1:1)–Sb; and GaSb(1:1)–Zn. Phase transitions temperatures were determined by differential thermal analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Microstructure and phase composition investigation were investigated by using scanning electronic microscopy with energy dispersive spectrometry. The experimental and analytical results showed good agreement, concerning the temperatures of phase transitions and phase compositions of alloys concerned.

In this paper the application of induction coil sensor, inserted into a mechanical rotational magnetic field of the rotational permanent magnet for the rotational speed measurements has been proposed and described. The sensor is simple, low-cost, and applicable for machine shafts speed measurements (spatially available and unavailable). On the shaft, whose rotational speed is measured, the rotational permanent magnet is fixed. From measured frequency value of induced voltage in the coil sensor the rotational speed value is given using PC with adequate software, interface for the analogue signal conditioning and AD converter. The rotational speed dependence on the induction coil sensor distance from the rotational permanent magnet has been given. The induced voltage dependence on the coil distance from the magnet has been obtained as well. The maximum distance for precise measurements of rotational speed has been determined from those relations.

The paper elaborates determination of characteristic values in the discharging process of non-hermetic nickel-cadmium galvanic battery with nominal voltage Un = 60 V and nominal capacity qn = C5 = 190 A h and its dependence from current and temperature. Study has been performed with the set of experimental metering of voltages, electromotive force, current from discharge time range and electromotive force in steady state regime before and after battery charging. Electromotive force characteristics are obtained by using the Nernst's equation, while the least square method was used to determine the average values of internal electrical resistivity, power losses and efficiency level. These results were used in the approximate exponential functions to determine the range dependence of the efficiency level from the internal electrical resistance of discharge current in reliance from the temperature range. Obtained results show that, in accordance to the given voltage variation of 10% Un, this type of battery holds maximal full load current of one hour capacity at the temperature of 25°C and maximal full load current of two hours capacity at the temperature of -30°C. The methodology used in the case study covers determination of the electromotive force in time range based on the metered results of values during complete battery fullness and emptiness with prior determination of equilibrium constants of galvanic battery reaction through method suggested by the author of this paper. Further process, using the electromotive force values obtained through the aforementioned process, the metered current, and approximate polynomial function of the nominal discharge voltage characteristic determines range of battery internal electric resistance from time, followed by the selection of discharge cases with average values for: voltage, electromotive force, internal electrical resistance, available and utilized power, power losses, and battery efficiency level. An overview of the obtained characteristics for analyzed battery and their comparison with the producers prescribed values and standards led to gaining of the valuable data that show how and in what measure do current and temperature influence the aforestated discharge characteristic of non- -hermetic nickel-cadmium batteries with an especial observation of internal electrical resistance and battery efficiency level. Obtained results show that electrochemical power sources may provide electric energy with prescribed quality and quantity, with high level of work reliability, as well as with all other positive technical and economic effects within the aforegiven current-temperature range. . U radu je obrađena problematika određivanja karakterističnih veličina u procesu pražnjenja nehermetičke nikal-kadmijum galvanske baterije nominalnog napona Un = 60 V i nominalnog kapaciteta qn = C5 = 190 A h, u zavisnosti od struje i temperature. Ispitivanja su izvršena setom eksperimentalnih merenja napona, struje i vremena u toku procesa pražnjenja, kao i elektromotorne sile u uspostavljenim ravnotežnim stanjima pre i posle potpunog pražnjenja baterije. Zatim su Nernstovom jednačinom određene karakteristike elektromotornih sila, a aproksimacionom metodom najmanjih kvadrata u vidu polinoma približne vrednosti izmerenih napona u vremenskom domenu, da bi se sa njima posle toga odredile prosečne vrednosti unutrašnje električne otpornosti, gubitaka snage i stepena iskorišćenja, i na kraju aproksimacionim eksponencijalnim funkcijama odredile zavisnosti stepena iskorišćenja i unutrašnje električne otpornosti od struje pražnjenja na izabranim temperaturama. Dobijeni rezultati pokazuju da se u skladu sa dozvoljenim promenama napona od 10% Un ova vrsta baterija može opterećivati maksimalno sa strujama do jednočasovnog kapaciteta na temperaturi od 25°C i sa strujama do dvočasovnog kapaciteta na temperaturi od -30°C.

Phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of ternary Bi–Cu–In system were investigated experimentally and by applying CALPHAD method. Calculated values of thermodynamic functions were collated with published experimental thermodynamic results for liquid phase. Calculated isothermal section at 400 °C was compared with experimental SEM/EDS results from this study. Three calculated vertical sections were compared with the DTA/DSC results from this work. Reasonable agreement between thermodynamic prediction and experimental data was observed in all cases.

The phase diagram of the ternary Ni-Pb-Sb system was investigated experimentally by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) methods, and predicted using the calculation of phase diagrams (CALPHAD) method. The phase transition temperatures of alloys along three predicted vertical sections of the Ni-Pb-Sb ternary system, with molar ratio Ni : Sb = 1: 3, Ni : Pb = 1, and x(Sb) = 0.6, were measured by DSC. The predicted isothermal section at 700 degrees C was compared with the results of the SEM-EDS analysis in this work.
