This article discusses the depictions of healings on the St. Honoré portal at Amiens Cathedral (post-1240) and the visual strategies by which its viewers were invited to participate in the saint's cult. I contend that the carved figures who gaze or gesture beyond the borders of the tympanum invited the active participation of a broad audience of spectators: male and female, young and old, rich and poor, clerical and lay, and disabled and hale. Moreover, I argue that by referencing both the saint's vita and more contemporary miracle accounts, the sculptures negotiated between the historical past and the Gothic present, allowing the viewers to share in the hope for a miraculous cure. This essay explores how Britishness was performed in the streets of eighteenth-century Britain during the festive spectacles associated with the "majesty" that Linda Colley has powerfully identified as an agent of national identity in Britons: Forging the Nation, 1707–1837. I examine the significance of patriotic illuminations as performances of national identity. Throughout the eighteenth century, the revelry surrounding illuminations was a persistent feature of British political and popular culture. Illuminations, I argue, were complicated instances of local and national celebration that divided communities in as many ways as they united them. Teasing out this relationship is central to our understanding of how Britishness was navigated in a socially stratified society. Drawing primarily on the newspapers of the period, this essay explores the contexts of royal illuminations, the nature of the disorders that often accompanied illuminations, and the content of the devices used in illuminations in order to unpack the significance of this important, but relatively neglected social practice. Today, the CCL is an exemplar of externalised storage and a touchstone for professionals the world over. Combining excellent storage conditions, professional expertise in collections management and the missions of conservation and restoration, the CCL cannot ignore the restrictions imposed on heritage sites by the climate crisis and is therefore attempting to reconcile environmental and social responsibility with conservation standards. In doing so, the facility is paving a new path in community relations; by agreeing to measure its impact, it is creating new economic, social and cultural values that strengthen its position as a cultural actor and magnify its innovative capacity in the long term. Comparing it with other externalised storage facilities in France and around the world, we see how unique each such site is, in terms of the collections it hosts, its geographical context and surrounding region, its custodial institution and its position within its political landscape. Nevertheless, all heritage conservation centres must develop their own heritage ecology strategies. While the CCL is today attempting to define its own guidelines, new projects, like the Fabrique de l'Art in Massy and the new Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France) conservation hub in Amiens are emerging and already developing their own innovative responses, which must also be observed and analysed in due time. Urbanization, anthropogenic activities, and social determinants such as poverty and literacy rate greatly contribute to heat-related mortalities. The 2003 strong heat wave (Lucifer) in France resulted in catastrophic health consequences in the region that may be attributed to urbanization and other anthropogenic activities. Amiens is a medium-sized French city, where the average temperature has increased since the year 2000. In this study, we evaluated the Heat Vulnerability Index (HVI) in Amiens for extreme heat days recorded during three years (2018–2020). We used the principal component analysis (PCA) technique for fine-scale vulnerability mapping. The main types of considered data included (a) socioeconomic and demographic data, (b) air pollution, (c) land use and cover, (d) elderly heat illness, (e) social vulnerability, and (f) remote sensing data (land surface temperature (LST), mean elevation, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), and normalized difference water index (NDWI)). The output maps identified the hot zones through comprehensive GIS analysis. The resultant maps showed that high HVI exists in three typical areas: (1) areas with dense population and low vegetation, (2) areas with artificial surfaces (built-up areas), and (3) industrial zones. Low-HVI areas are in natural landscapes such as rivers and grasslands. Our analysis can be implemented in other cities to highlight areas at high risk of extreme heat and air pollution. In "On Arrogance," Wilfred Bion made a remarkable claim: "the analyst who is treating an apparently neurotic patient must regard a negative therapeutic response together with the appearance of scattered, unrelated references to curiosity, arrogance, and stupidity as evidence that he is in the presence of a psychological catastrophe with which he will have to deal." However Bion came to believe this, he sought grounds for it in a reading of Oedipus that seriously distorts that tragedy. Since the clinical outcome in "On Arrogance" appears to be impasse, perhaps even iatrogenic injury, the text's value is perhaps best consolidated by historicizing its construction through a psychoanalytic lens. Thus, while "On Arrogance" has been canonized as prescriptive for the treatment of difficult patients, it can instead be read as the illuminating trace of a grievously difficult intrapsychic struggle, a personal reckoning that resulted in Bion's 1958 return to the battlefield at Amiens where he had "died" in the hell of combat forty years earlier. "On Arrogance" thus reflects a prodigious episode of sublimation that proved essential to Bion's lifelong development as a psychoanalytic writer and thinker. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An increase in pasteurized human milk contamination with Bacillus cereus was witnessed in milk donated to the Amiens-Picardie Human Milk Bank over the 2017–2018 period. To better understand the origin of such an increase, this study aimed to describe the frequency of Bacillus cereus contamination in anonymous and personalized human milk donations of Amiens Human Milk Bank in 2018, compare the genetic profiles of Bacillus cereus strains found in pasteurized human milk and set up corrective/preventive actions to reduce Bacillus cereus contamination. A retrospective cohort study of human milk donated from January to December 2018 was set. Data on the microbiological quality of donated human milk and genetic profiles of Bacillus cereus strains isolated from pasteurized donated human milk and the environment were collected. The overall noncompliance rate related to the microbiological quality in the 1585 batches of analyzed human milk donations was of 27.3%. Post-Holder pasteurization, rejection rates were significantly higher for anonymous donations as compared to personalized ones. Bacillus cereus was the main cause of noncompliance. Bacillus cereus contaminations could not be attributed to a single strain spreading through Amiens human milk bank and Amiens hospital environment as the genetic profiles of the collected strains were different. Corrective actions led to a decrease in the noncompliance rate due to Bacillus cereus (37.7–9.7%) post-Holder pasteurization. Bacillus cereus was the primary cause of rejection for pasteurized human milk donations over the investigated period. These contaminations did not originate from the spread of a single strain. Objective: In mitral insufficiency, trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) analysis of the mitral valve is an indispensable and irreplaceable examination to establish precisely the type of surgical repair to be performed and the exact length of neo-chordae to be used for an anatomical repair. The aim of our study is to find a predictive model of the Echographic Measurement (EM) variable according to the Manual Measurement (MM) variable of the mitral valve chordae, when the echocardiography measurement is not feasible.Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study on 191 patients undergoing mitral valve repair. The sex ratio (M/F) is 2.13 (130 men and 61 women). The collection of data of mitral chordae measurements performed echographically in preoperatively conditions, and then manually in intraoperatively conditions from January 2008 to December 2016 was made from the medical records of patients at the cardiology and cardiac surgery department of the University Hospital Center of Amiens in Picardy.Results: For this study 191 patients of mean age of 68 ± 13 years were included. The averages of the MM and EM of the mitral chordae were respectively 23 ± 2.5 mm and 24 ± 2.4 mm. The Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.897 (p-value < 10-4) showing a strong positive correlation between MM and EM. The results of the linear regression allow us to found the following mathematical model: EM = 0.87 × MM + 4.Conclusions: When patients have a contraindication to transesophageal echocardiography or when TEE is not feasible, manual measurement is performed during the surgery. By using the values obtained (MM) in the model, it is possible to predict the corresponding echographic measurements. Background: Two calcified objects recovered from an adolescent in a burial site in Amiens, France, have been previously identified as hydatid cysts using thin-section petrography. The importance of ancient hydatidosis besides the value of these unique archeological excavated materials encouraged the authors to look at this attractive subject more interdisciplinary by implementing medical radiology. Methods: In the current experiment, which has been carried out in the Radiology Department, Tehran Heart Center (THC), Tehran, Iran, the conventional and dual-energy dual-source Tomography, X-Ray Computed-scan was used in studying the remaining structures of the two calcified masses. The imaging procedure was carried out based on X-Ray attenuation by two different tube voltages. Results: A high concentration of calcium sediment in the cyst walls was revealed in Hounsfield units, the measuring of the elements in CT. Taking advantage of implementing this imaging technique the oxalate calcium was also shown as the dominant component of the samples. The results were all in favor of diagnosing hydatid cysts. Conc lusion: The achieved pictorial results in the present paper have highlighted the important role of CT scan as a noninvasive confirming technique in paleopathological investigations. Using Dual-source dual-energy CT-scan in reconfirming these previously identified hydatid cysts, is an encouraging message towards the necessity of sequential studies on invaluable biological excavated pieces. Introduction: Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) surgery is well established for the treatment of discopathy, foraminal disc herniation, and recurrent disc herniation. At the Amiens university medical center, we have been using a robot-assisted technique for performing the TLIF. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the radiological and clinical outcome, specifically pain, of patients having undergone robot-assisted TLIF. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data of patients having undergone minimally invasive (MI) robot-assisted TLIF between November 2014 and July 2018 in a French university medical center. In clinical consultations at 6 weeks, 12 months, and 24 months posttreatment, patients were assessed for back and leg pain (on a visual analog scale), breached screws, and sagittal parameters. Results: A total of 136 pedicle screws were inserted with robot guidance into 32 patients. Four of the patients required laminectomy before fusion. No pedicle breach occurred for 94% of the screws, and no joint violation was observed for 90%. Lordosis was improved in 78% of the cases. Conclusions: The robot provides valuable assistance during MI arthrodesis; it facilitates the surgical procedure by preplanning the trajectory, providing instantaneous navigation and tracking, and thus assure the accuracy of screw positioning. The reception of the Protestant message has always presented particular historical problems. This article addresses the question of how the message about images was received and acted upon by individuals in their homes. By examining inventories after death of known Protestants in sixteenth-century Amiens, we can conclude that they both heard the message and acted upon it, even under very difficult conditions for Protestants in an increasingly unfriendly and sometimes dangerous local environment. Le site acheuléen de plein-air de Revelles a été découvert en contexte de doline à l'occasion des travaux en 2002 de l'A29 à l'Ouest d'Amiens (Somme). Une unique occupation, dépourvue de faune, mais constituée de plus de 5000 artefacts, est attribuée au SIM 8. Cette occupation, très originale, nous permet de décrypter des caractéristiques typologiques et technologiques différentes des faciès connus en contexte de terrasse alluviale et quelque peu différent des autres contextes de plateaux et de dolines déjà étudiés comme ceux de Gentelles ou de la Ferme de l'Epinette. Trois chaînes opératoires majeures sont identifiées, l'une autour du façonnage de bifaces, l'une autour du façonnage de trifaces et une dernière autour de la production d'éclats bruts et d'éclats retouchés. La série de bifaces est constituée de formes lancéolées, de bifaces à dos, de pics-bifaces, de bifaces peu ébauchés à base corticale. Les formes ovalaires, amygdaloïdes et limandes sont déficientes. À Revelles, la fracturation des bifaces est notable et parmi les chutes de taille des bifaces et de leurs apex, il est souvent possible de faire la part entre la fracture due à la matière première parfois de mauvaise qualité, de celles, volontaires, qualifiées de ravivage. Entre les deux, les fracturations par flexion, obtenues en cours d'utilisation intensive de l'outil, nous laissent davantage dubitatifs. Le débitage est soigné avec une excellente productivité des surfaces de débitage produisant un grand nombre de couteaux à dos naturel. Le débitage Levallois n'est attesté que par quelques rares nucléus préférentiels ainsi que quelques produits de débitage. The open-air site and Acheulean site of Revelles has been discovered in a dolina context when the A29 motorway was built in 2002 west to Amiens (Somme). One single occupation, without faunal discoveries, has delivered more than 5000 artefact and has been correlated to SIM 8. This new occupation permits us to work out on typology and technology of a facies different from the traditional acheulian from the alluvial terrace like Cagny-l'Epinette or Cagny-la-Garenne and of a facies also different from the other plateaus or dolinas like Ferme de l'Epinette and Gentelles. Three main operating chains are identified, one around the production of handaxes, another around triface and the last one deals with the productions of flakes and tool-flakes. Among the handaxes typology, we encounter lanceolates, back-handaxes, picks-handaxes and many handaxes with a cortex basis. Traditional morphologies like ovalar, amygdaloid and limandes are away. In that site, broken handaxes are numerous and broken marks allow us to see the difference between the one depending of bad raw materials from those of a volunteer resharping. Between these two extremes some are the results of the flexion or diverse functions. The debitage is carefully done with a great productivity of each main core surface and a great proportion of long back-knives. On 21 March 1918, after nearly 4 years of static warfare on the Western Front, German forces launched a massive offensive from the Hindenburg Line against a depleted British Fifth Army. Elite storm troops smashed through British forward and battle zone positions and advanced more than 17 miles in 2 days. By 5 April, the Germans were outside the town of Villers‐Bretonneux, 40 miles from their starting position and 15 miles from the railway junction of Amiens. This paper examines the response of the Australian Medical Services to the restoration of mobile warfare and explains the measures that were put in place to deal with the evacuation of casualties. Annexin A2 (ANXA2), an endothelial cell receptor for plasminogen and tissue plasminogen activator, has been identified as a new autoantigen in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). ANXA2 can exist as a monomer or a heterotetrameric complex with S100A10 protein. This S100A10 subunit also plays a pivotal role in the regulation of fibrinolysis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of autoantibodies directed against S100A10 protein in patients with APS. Patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome (PAPS), patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and patients with unexplained thrombosis were retrospectively included in this study. Patients were followed in the department of Internal Medicine of Amiens University Hospital, Amiens, France. IgG and IgM anti-S100A10 antibodies were detected in the serum of patients by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The cut-off value for positivity was defined as 3 standard deviations above the mean optical density (OD) obtained in the sera of 116 healthy blood donors. The study group consisted of 116 healthy individuals and 106 patients: 42 APS patients (26 patients with PAPS and 16 patients with secondary SLE-related APS), 43 SLE patients without APS and 21 patients with unexplained thrombosis. The median age of APS patients, SLE patients without APS, patients with unexplained thrombosis and healthy individuals was 47, 38, 53 and 42 years, respectively. Anti-S100A10 antibodies were detected in 11.9% of APS patients and this prevalence was statistically higher than that observed in healthy individuals (1.7%) (p = 0.0148). Highest levels of anti-S100A10 were observed in the serum of one PAPS patient with venous thrombosis and one SLE patient with APS with a history of stroke and recurrent miscarriage. S100A10 protein, the binding partner of ANXA2, was identified as a target of autoantibodies in sera from patients with APS. Leprosy, caused by the bacterial pathogen Mycobacterium leprae, has been observed in humans since remote times. Nucleic acid extracts were also tested for the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA using PCR detection systems for IS6110 and IS1081 sequences (see Supplementary material, Table S2). Initial investigation of M. leprae DNA using RLEP, REPLEP, ML1545 and 18-kDa PCR systems generated amplification products of the expected sizes for both sample extracts studied at dilutions 1:20 and 1:50; no signal was obtained for undiluted extracts and negative controls. The French novelist Jules Verne mentions Dubrovnik in his novel Mathias Sandorf (1885). The description is vivid and interesting. He gathered his knowledge of ships and maritime themes in the City library in Amiens, France, and also from about fifty daily newspapers and magazines that he read on a daily basis. He had three yachts and aboard them he visited a number of places in the Mediterranean, which inspired him to start writing this novel (he confessed) during his two family trips. After the Berlin Congress (1878) he could have been acquainted with the foreign fleet gathered in Gruž (1880) or with the ships that had previously arrived, both before and after the Herzegovina uprising (1875 - 1878).
