The publication pattern of the PUCP Archeology Bulletin during its 21 years of survival (1997-2017) is described. In the period studied there were 354 articles produced by 396 different authors that on average produce 1.12 articles per author. The published literature grows linearly at a rate of 16,357 articles per year. Lotka’s law adequately predicts this productivity of the authors, but the authors’ collaboration rate is low, meaning that in general they are solitary researchers. It was found that just over half of the collaborations published by this Bulletin come from researchers linked to universities and / or national entities. The other half comes from collaborations of authors linked to foreign universities and institutions. In general, the co-authors network of this Bulletin is composed of 276 vertices that have 437 edges. The network is quite disconnected and scatters where only 1.27% of possible links or interactions between authors are present. Each author on average shows links with 3 other authors. This study analyzes the news published in the newspapers La República and El Peruano in Lima-Peru, during the months of February to May 2017 about the phenomenon El Niño Costero in an attempt to understand the context and orientation of the news. The words within the text body were analyzed as they appeared in each of the retrieved documents. The textual words were “read” with the help of the free software TextStat 3.0 and the construction of the keywords of the newspapers articles was done with the software Linguakit. The selected keywords were standardized and transferred to R a programming language tool focused on statistical analysis with the algorithm of the MPA package.

Analyze the types of documents, the authors that publish in the journal, the institutional affiliation of the authors, the collaborating entities, the thematic areas and the form of growth of the literature produced in the journal Letras of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the National Major University of San Marcos from 2003 to 2014. Peruvian and foreign authors were also identified as well as their links to Peruvian and/or foreign institutions.

The objective of this article is to identify and analyze the authors who make up the elite in a sub-area of the bibliometric field: the author’s productivity is also known as the “Lotka’s law”. The units of analysis were taken from 376 different authors producing of 390 articles, book chapters, and works presented in congresses, from 1922 up to 2003. The conclusion is that the elite was made up by 17 authors who had each one participated at least in the production of five or more documents totalizing a contribution of over a third of all documents.

Objectives A previous individual participant data meta-analysis (IPDMA) identified differences in major depression classification rates between different diagnostic interviews, controlling for depressive symptoms on the basis of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. We aimed to determine whether similar results would be seen in a different population, using studies that administered the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) in pregnancy or postpartum. Methods Data accrued for an EPDS diagnostic accuracy IPDMA were analysed. Binomial generalised linear mixed models were fit to compare depression classification odds for the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI), and Structured Clinical Interview for DSM (SCID), controlling for EPDS scores and participant characteristics. Results Among fully structured interviews, the MINI (15 studies, 2,532 participants, 342 major depression cases) classified depression more often than the CIDI (3 studies, 2,948 participants, 194 major depression cases; adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 3.72, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.21, 11.43]). Compared with the semistructured SCID (28 studies, 7,403 participants, 1,027 major depression cases), odds with the CIDI (interaction aOR = 0.88, 95% CI [0.85, 0.92]) and MINI (interaction aOR = 0.95, 95% CI [0.92, 0.99]) increased less as EPDS scores increased. Conclusion Different interviews may not classify major depression equivalently.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a well-characterized and extensively studied disease. It is currently considered the leading cause of visual disability among patients over 60 years. The hallmark of early AMD is the formation of drusen, pigmentary changes at the macula, and mild to moderate vision loss. There are two forms of AMD: the “dry” and the “wet” form that is less frequent but is responsible for 90% of acute blindness due to AMD. Risk factors have been associated with AMD progression, and they are taking relevance to understand how AMD develops: (1) advanced age and the exposition to environmental factors inducing high levels of oxidative stress damaging the macula and (2) this damage, which causes inflammation inducing a vicious cycle, altogether causing central vision loss. There is neither a cure nor treatment to prevent AMD. However, there are some treatments available for the wet form of AMD. This article will review some molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with the onset of AMD focusing on feasible treatments for each related factor in the development of this pathology such as vascular endothelial growth factor, oxidative stress, failure of the clearance of proteins and organelles, and glial cell dysfunction in AMD.

Existing network of Mexican co-authorship in publications on metrics (bibliometrics, informetrics, scientometrics, patentometría, etc.) is analyzed, from the early 70s until December 2012. The social network analysis was done using the Ucinet 6.0 and Netdraw softwares. The analysis shows a highly centralized network. The overall network density indicates a low communication network density that makes effective use of one-fifth of the real bonds of total possible links between the authors of the network. The degree of centrality identifies eleven authors as structural components of the network of Mexican bibliometrics. The coefficient of the degree of proximity indicates that both the distance as the closeness are homogeneous. Regarding the degree of intermediation is found that there is a widespread network but the dominance of a small group of three authors. The geodesic distance identified a single author well connected to other authors also very well positioned in the network. No cliques nor n-cliques in the network of co-authorship of Mexican bibliometrics were identified Se analiza la red de coautorías existentes en las publicaciones sobre las metrías (bibliometría, informetría, cienciometría, patentometría, etc.) en México, desde la década de los 70s hasta diciembre de 2012. Se utilizó el análisis de redes sociales a través del software Ucinet 6.0 y Netdraw. Los análisis muestran una red altamente centralizada. La densidad global de la red indica una red de baja densidad comunicacional que hace una utilización efectiva de una quinta parte de los vínculos reales sobre el total de vínculos posibles entre todos los autores de la red. El grado de centralidad identifica once autores como los componentes estructurales de la red de bibliometría mexicana. Los coeficientes del grado de cercanía indican que tanto la lejanía como la cercanía son homogéneas. En relación con el grado de intermediación se encontró que no existe una red ampliamente extendida sino la dominancia de un pequeño grupo de tres autores. La distancia geodésica identificó un único autor bien conectado a otros autores también muy bien posicionados en la red. No se identificaron cliques ni n-cliques en la red de coautoría de la bibliometría mexicana. A análise das redes sociais foi realizada com os softwares Ucinet 6.0 e Netdraw. A análise mostra uma rede altamente centralizada. A densidade geral da rede indica uma baixa densidade da rede de comunicação que faz uso efetivo de um quinto das ligações reais do total possível de links entre os autores da rede. O grau de centralidade identifica onze autores como componentes estruturais da rede de bibliometria mexicana. O coeficiente do grau de proximidade indica que tanto a distância quanto a proximidade são homogêneas. Quanto ao grau de intermediação, verifica-se que existe uma rede generalizada, mas o domínio de um pequeno grupo de três autores.
