Moench, an economically important malvaceous vegetable crop popularly known as okra, is used in various culinary preparations and is rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. The biological properties of okra flowers in relation to nanoparticle synthesis have not yet been reported.Materials and Methods: In the current study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using extracts of the flowers of A. esculentus. The characteristics of the AgNPs were studied using a UV-vis spectrometer, Fourier transmission infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). Antibacterial activity screening was performed using the agar well diffusion method, and cytotoxicity and cell viability studies were conducted using a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.Results: The synthesized AgNPs were spherical and ranged in size from 5.52 to 31.96 nm, with an average size of 16.19 nm, as determined by UV-vis spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, TEM and EDX. A. esculentus flower extract-mediated silver nanoparticles (AME-AgNPs) exhibited excellent activities in vitro studies, particularly in vitro cytotoxic and antiproliferative studies against cancer cell lines, such as the TERT-4 and A-549 cell lines. The antibacterial effects on the Gram-positive pathogens Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus pyogenes and the Gram-negative pathogens Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhimurium and Shigella sonnei were tested. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values varied with the bacterial strain. The IC50 values of the synthesized NPs for the tested cell lines were close to that of a standard drug.Conclusion: Compared to other NPs the NPs synthesized in this study were smaller in size and exhibited a higher level of antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity and apoptosis at minimal concentrations, and this is the first study on okra flower-induced anticancer and antimicrobial activities.Keywords: Abelmoschus esculentus, silver nanoparticles, okra green pods, cell lines and cytotoxicity

The MTT cell cytotoxicity assay measured the proliferation and survival of MCF-7 cells treated at different concentrations of FSE-derived ZnO NPs. The antimicrobial activity towards pathogenic bacteria and yeast strains was investigated.Results: The UV–Vis spectra showed two peaks at 438 nm and 446 nm, confirming nanoparticle formation. The SEM morphology results showed porous ranging from 23– 51 nm. The antitumor activity value (IC50) was at 50 μg/mL and 100 μg/mL. Besides, morphological changes of MCF-7, cells treated at different concentrations of FSE of ZnO NPs were observed in cell cultures transfected with a transient pCMV6-XL4-GFP-expressing vector containing C-terminal domain GFP-tagged proteins, which resulted in an apoptotic effect. Antimicrobial IZ ranged up No Inhibition to 18.00 ± 0.4. The IZ revealed at the highest concentration was E. faecium VRE and yeast Cryptococcus sp. (18.00 ± 0.4. mm), followed by S. aureus (17.00 ± 0.2 mm) and P. aeruginosa and the yeast C. parapsilosis (16 ± 0.4 mm). The IZ was equal to that caused by the nystatin to Cryptococcus sp., which was significantly highest than ampicillin treatments of S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, C. albicans, and C. parapsilosis. The MIC value of the FSE-derived ZnO NPs tested against E.faecium and C.albicans was 6.00 μg/mL (E. faecium and C. albicans). It was 32.00 μg/mL (S. aureus, S. typhimurium and Cryptococcus sp.), 64.00 μg/mL (P. aeruginosa), and 128 μg/mL (C. parapsilosis).Conclusion: As far as it is to our knowledge, this study established, for the first time, the biological activities of biosynthesized ZnO NPs from FSE and their synergistic therapeutic potential.Keywords: fennel seed extract-derived zinc oxide nanoparticles, green nanotechnology, anti-tumor activity, antimicrobial activity and therapeutic agents

The cytotoxicity and antimicrobial activity As-AgNPs were evaluated against MCF-7 cell lines and selected microbial pathogens, respectively.Results: The synthesized silver nanoparticles were crystalline in nature with a spherical shape. The average particle size was 5.6– 8.6 nm. The cytotoxicity of the synthesized As-AgNPs was evaluated against MCF-7 cell lines, and the As-AgNPs were found to be effective in inhibiting the multiplication of cancer cells. The As-AgNPs exhibited significant antimicrobial activity towards E. coli, K. pneumoniae and C. albicans. The MIC of the synthesized As-AgNPs was 7.80 μg/mL for E. coli ATCC 25922, Salmonella sp. WS50- and S. typhi; 15.60 μg/mL for S. typhimurium and S. aureus WS10, and 31.20 μg/mL for K. pneumoniae and S. aureus ATCC 43300-MRSA. In addition, MIC values of 15.60 μg/mL for C. albicans ATCC8436 and 31.20 μg/mL for C. krusei ATCC6258 were obtained.Conclusion: As asafoetida is a good traditional medicine, its involvement in the synthesis of AgNPs led the silver nanoparticles to exhibit good cytotoxic and antimicrobial effects.Keywords: asafoetida gum, AgNPs, antimicrobial, cytotoxicity, biomedical agent

Materials and methods: We studied a green synthesis route to produce AgNPs by using an aqueous extract of Pimpinella anisum seeds (3 mM). Their antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity on human neonatal skin stromal cells (hSSCs) and colon cancer cells (HT115) were assessed. Results: A biophysical characterization of the synthesized AgNPs was realized: the morphology of AgNPs was determined by transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and ultraviolet-vis absorption spectroscopy. Transmission electron microscopy showed spherical shapes of AgNPs of P. anisum seed extracts with a 3.2 nm minimum diameter and average diameter ranging from 3.2 to 16 nm. X-ray powder diffraction highlighted the crystalline nature of the nanoparticles, ultraviolet-vis absorption spectroscopy was used to monitor their synthesis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed the main reducing groups from the seed extract. Energy dispersive spectroscopy was used to confirm the presence of elemental silver. We evaluated the antimicrobial potential of green-synthesized AgNPs against five infectious bacteria: Staphylococcus pyogenes (29213), Acinetobacter baumannii (4436), Klebsiella pneumoniae (G455), Salmonella typhi, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition, we focused on the toxicological effects of AgNPs against hSSC cells and HT115 cells by using in vitro proliferation tests and cell viability assays. Among the different tested concentrations of nanoparticles, doses 10 µg led to increased cytotoxicity. Conclusion: Overall, our results highlighted the capacity of P. anisum-synthesized AgNPs as novel and cheap bioreducing agents for eco-friendly nanosynthetical routes. The data confirm the multipurpose potential of plant-borne reducing and stabilizing agents in nanotechnology. Psoriasis is chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disorder characterized by various comorbidities, erythematous plaques with silvery scale which can lead to psoriatic arthritis. The phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) protein is a potential drug target to control Psoriasis. In the current study, pharmacophore-based virtual screening of Diversity library of ChemDiv database was first performed, and then the screened hits were docked to the active site of PDE4 to choose the best binding modes. Forty-six hits generated during the virtual screening were prepared and docked to the PDE4 receptor by SP docking module of glide. The binding affinities of the selected hits were calculated by molecular docking and based on the affinities, ten hits were selected for the bioactivity scores prediction and ADMET analysis. Based on the ADMET profiling, four hits D356-2630, C700-2058, G842-0420 and F403-0203 were processed to MD simulations for stability analysis. The outcomes showed that these compounds showed strong binding with proteins with better binding free energies. The study develops polyamine-functionalized graphene oxide-supported NiCo 2 S 4 nanomaterial using a metal-organic framework (MOF). This modification adds free amines and oxygen functionality to the graphene oxide electrode surface, resulting in the decrease in the 2 theta value from 11.2 to 7.1 and an increase in the interlayer spacing value from 1.4 to 7.8 nm. This modification enhances the surface properties, leading to improved wettability and dispersion stability. Additionally, bimetallic nanoparticles of NiCo 2 S 4 , synthesized via the ZIF-67 MOF template, further enhance performance. Analysis confirms the successful fabrication of ZIF-67/f-GO/NiCo 2 S 4 electrode material through various techniques such as XPS spectra, FE-SEM, XRD, and Raman spectra. The resulting Salen-fGO@NiCo 2 S 4 composite exhibits impressive specific capacitance, reaching 2581.65 F g -1 at 10 A g -1 with 82% capacity retention after 5000 cycles. Employing this composite in a hybrid supercapacitor yields remarkable energy and power densities of 40 and 920 W kg -1 , individually, while maintaining 74% capacity retention rate at 10 A g -1 . Background: The formation of charge-transfer complexes (CTCs) of iodine with five chemotherapeutic drugs used for the treatment of different types of cancer has not been investigated. These drugs are olaparib, seliciclib, vandetanib, dasatinib, and tozasertib. Additionally, these drugs need an appropriate general spectrophotometric assay for their analysis in the dosage forms regardless of the differences in their chemical structures., Objective: The aim of this study was the development of a novel microwell spectrophotometric assay (MW-SPA) for one-step determination of these drugs via their interactions with iodine, which resulted in instantaneous production of bright lemon-yellow CTCs., Methods: A spectrophotometric study of the CTCs was conducted, and all CTCs were characterized. Site(s) of interaction on each drug were assigned, and the MW-SPA was developed and applied to the analysis of dosage forms., Results: The findings confirmed that the reactions proceeded via CTC formation. Beer's law was obeyed over a general concentration range of 1-6 µg/mL. The LODs and LOQs were in the ranges of 0.5-2.1 and 1.5-6.4 µg/mL, respectively. The proposed MW-SPA demonstrated excellent precisions as the relative standard deviations were < 2.24 and 2.23% for the intra- and inter-assay precision, respectively. Recovery studies demonstrated the accuracy of MW-SPA. Successful determination of all drugs in bulk and tablet forms was achieved using the MW-SPA. The environmental sustainability of the proposed methodology was determined, providing evidence of the assay's alignment with the basis of green analytical chemistry. Background: Reboxetine (RBX) is the first FDA-approved antidepressant drug of the selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors class. There is a serious need for a convenient analytical tool for the quantitation of RBX in its dosage form., Objective: This study aims toward the development and validation of two green and high-throughput microwell spectrometric platforms for the pharmaceutical analysis of RBX., Methods: The two platforms, abbreviated as MW-AB and MW-FL, involved microwell-based analysis assisted with a multifunction microplate plate reader for measuring absorbance and fluorescence signals, respectively. The MW-AB and MW-FL platforms involved the formation of colored and fluorescent derivatives upon the reaction of RBX with oxidized pyrocatechol reagent (OPC) and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ), respectively. The absorbance of colored RBX-OPC derivative at 520 nm, and the fluorescence of RBX-TCNQ charge transfer complex at 283 and 484 nm for excitation and emission, respectively. The optimum conditions of both reactions were established, their molar ratios were determined, and reaction mechanisms were postulated., Results: Both platforms were optimized and validated according to the guidelines of the International Council on Harmonization. The limits of quantitation were 19.6 µg/mL and 27 ng/mL for MW-AB and MW-FL, respectively. Both platforms were applied with excellent reliability to the quantitation of RBX content in Edranox® tablets and their drug uniformity. The greenness levels of both platforms were assessed by two comprehensive tools, and the results confirmed the high level of greenness for both platforms., Conclusions: Both platforms involved one-step reactions, adapted microwell analysis, and simultaneous handling of large number of samples. This study investigates the efficacy of newly synthesized inhibitor with a dual function of corrosion inhibition and biocide for control of microbial influenced corrosion (MIC) in carbon steel API 5LX in the cooling tower water (CTW) environment. Four types of N-substituted tetrabromophthalic inhibitor (N-TBI) were synthesized, and the structural characterization was performed via proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and high-resolution mass spectrometry. These studies revealed the distinctive optical, thermal, and dielectric properties of the synthesized inhibitors. The corrosion inhibition efficiency has been evaluated by the weight loss (WL) analysis and electrochemical measurements (ECM) and biofilm assay. Biofilm assays and WL showed that inhibitor II exhibited the highest inhibition efficiency 74% and 79% respectively than others. Further ECM showed that the higher charge transfer resistance and the lower corrosion current, suggesting a protective film formed on the metal surface which was due to the adsorption of the N-TBI. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the adsorption of the N-TBI as C-O stretching and C-H bending with the Fe complex. X-ray diffractometer revealed that the presence of inhibitors in the corrosion product (Fe 3 O 4 , Fe 2 O 3 , FeH 2 O 2 , FeS) were highly reduced than the control system. Overall, this study highlighted the potential application of N-TBI with dual function of corrosion inhibition and biocide to control the MIC for carbon steel API 5LX used in the CTW environment., (© 2024. The ZnFe prussian blue analogue [ZnFe(PBA)] was infused with Ti 3 C 2 T x (MXene) denoted as ZnFe(PBA)@Ti 3 C 2 T x and was prepared by an in-situ sonication method to use as a non-enzymatic screen printed electrode sensor. The advantage of non-enzymatic sensors is their excellent sensitivity, rapid detection, low cost and simple design. The synthesized ZnFe(PBA)@Ti 3 C 2 T x was characterized for its physical and chemical characterization by XRD, Raman, XPS, EDAX, and FESEM analysis. It possessed multiple functionalized layers and a cubic structure in the nanohybrid. Further, the sensor was investigated by using electroanalytical studies such as cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry analysis. The enhanced surface area with a cubic structure of ZnFe(PBA) and the excellent electrical response of Ti 3 C 2 nanosheet support the advancement of a non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensor with improved sensitivity of 973.42 µA mM -1 cm -2 with the limit of detection (LOD) of 3.036 µM (S/N = 3) and linear detection range (LDR) from 0.01 to 1 mM., (© 2024. The most recent advancement in food packaging research involves improving the shelf life of perishable foods by utilising bio-based resources that are edible, eco-friendly, and biodegradable. The current study investigated the effect of edible pectin coating on mature green tomatoes to improve shelf life and storage properties. Zucchini pectin was used to make edible coating. The antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of extracted pectin were investigated. The findings indicated that the extracted pectin had antimicrobial (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Aspergillus niger) and antioxidant (34.32% at 1 mg/mL) properties.Tomatoes were immersed in pectin solutions of varying concentrations, 1, 3, and 5% (w/v). Physiological evaluations of weight loss, total sugar content, titratable acidity pH, and ascorbic acid were performed on tomatoes during their maturing stages of mature green, light red, pure red, and breaking. Coating the tomatoes with pectin (5%) resulted in minimal weight loss while increasing the retention of total sugar, ascorbic acid, and titratable acidity. The shelf life of the pectin-coated tomatoes was extended to 11 days, while the uncoated control tomatoes lasted 9 days. Thus, a 5% edible pectin solution was found to be effective in coating tomatoes. The current study suggests that using 5% pectin as an edible coating on tomatoes can delay/slow the ripening/maturing process while also extending the shelf-life of tomatoes without affecting their physiochemical properties, which is scalable on a large scale for commercial purposes., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2024. Tulathromycin is a triamilide antibacterial drug which has been approved for use in the European Union and the United States for the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory diseases. The aim of this study was the development of two innovative microwell spectrometric (photometric and fluorometric) assays for determination of tulathromycin in its pharmaceutical formulations. To achieve this goal, 4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan was investigated as a dual-function chromogenic and fluorogenic probe for tulathromycin. The reaction between tulathromycin and 4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan proceeded smoothly in an alkaline medium, resulting in the formation of a colored and fluorescent product. The product displayed a maximum light absorption at 475 nm and emitted fluorescence at 545 nm when excited at 475 nm. Extensive investigations were conducted to optimize the factors affecting the tulathromycin /4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan reaction, and the optimal conditions were established. Using these optimized conditions, both microwell-based photometric and fluorometric assays were developed. The calibration curves relating the absorbance and fluorescence intensities of the reaction product with the corresponding tulathromycin concentrations were generated. The absorbance-concentration relationship was found to be linear within a tulathromycin concentration range of 10-400 µg mL -1 , with a limit of quantitation of 6.2 µg mL -1 . On the other hand, the fluorescence-concentration relationship was linear within a concentration range of 0.04-1.2 µg mL -1 , with a limit of quantitation of 0.06 µg mL -1 . Rigorous validations of both assays' procedures were performed, and both assays were successfully employed for the analysis of tulathromycin-containing pharmaceutical formulations (injections) with satisfactory accuracy and precision. The ecologically friendly assessment of both assays demonstrated their compliance with the principles of green analytical chemistry approaches. Moreover, the proposed microwell-based assays enabled the simultaneous analysis of multiple samples using small volumes, enabling high-throughput analysis. In conclusion, this study represents the first evaluation of 4-fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan as a probe with dual functionality for the microwell-based photometric and fluorometric analysis of tulathromycin. Background: Environmental soil contamination is a serious problem for humans worldwide, as it causes many diseases., Methods: The present study focuses on utilizing biosurfactants produced by Pseudomonas stutzeri ( P. stutzeri ) NA3 and Bacillus cereus ( B. cereus ) EN6, as an electrolyte for removing chromium (Cr) from contaminated soil using the electrokinetic (EK) process., Results: As a result, biosurfactants produced by P. stutzeri NA3 and B. cereus EN6, being lipopeptides, increase heavy metal mobility in the EK process. The Cr removal efficiency of a novel electrolyte (biosurfactants) in the EK process was compared with that of NA3 and EN6 biosurfactants. The EK results revealed a maximum Cr removal of 75 and 70% by NA3 and EN6, respectively, at the end of 7 days., Discussion: The biosurfactant aids in the breaking down of the heavy metals that are present deeper into the soil matrix. From the metagenomics analysis, it was identified that biosurfactant changes the microbial community with an enhanced ability to remove heavy metals. The phytotoxicity assay confirms that NA3 biosurfactant solution showed 95% seed germination and can lower hazardous pollutants in the soil., Conclusion: The application of biosurfactants as a potent electrolyte for the remediation of hazardous pollutants is an integrated process. The current investigation focused on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using Malachra alceifolia (Ma) (the common name is wild okra) leaf extract. The morphological, structural, and optical properties of the synthesized Ma-Ag NPs were characterized by various techniques. The absorption spectral studies (UV-vis and FTIR) confirm the formation of Ma-Ag NPs and their band gap was calculated as 2.1 eV with the help of Tauc's equation. The XRD study gives information about the crystalline nature and FCC structure. The SEM analysis estimates the particle size as 10-55 nm and the average size as 28 nm with a spherical shape. Furthermore, biological studies such as antibacterial activity was performed by the broth dilution method whereas antioxidant was studied through the DPPH radical scavenging technique. To compare the antibacterial activity between Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, the highest bacterial growth of inhibition was observed for Pseudomonas aeruginosa than Staphylococcus aureus when increasing the concentration of the plant extract and Ma-Ag NPs. The scavenging activity of DPPH for both leaf extract and synthesized Ma-Ag NPs was represented in a dose-dependent manner (0.1-1.0 mg/mL), Ma-Ag NPs have shown a significant scavenging activity ranging from 39 to 54% with an average IC 50 value of 0.87 ± 0.08. Furthermore, a molecular docking study was performed to confirm the binding interaction outline between the bioactive molecule methyl commate A, Ma-Ag NPs, and proteins such as Aminotransferase and Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase active sites. The highest interaction tendency was observed between the Aminotransferase and methyl commate A with a binding energy of - 7.79 kcal/mol -1 . The high electronegative oxygen of the ligand interacts with H-N- of Lys98 (-O--H-N-) through the formation of hydrogen bond by 3.53A° distance. In addition, the photocatalytic efficiency of Ma-Ag NPs was studied with methylene blue dye degradation under sunlight irradiation at different time intervals. Current treatment for Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is not efficient due to its aggressive nature, tendency to infiltrate surrounding brain tissue, and chemotherapy resistance. Tetrahydroquinoline scaffolds are emerging as a new class of drug for treating many human cancers including GBM. This study investigates the cytotoxicity effect of eight novel derivatives of 2-((3,4-dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-yl)(aryl)methyl)phenol, containing substitute 1 with reduced dihydroquinoline fused with cyclohexene ring and substitute 2 with phenyl and methyl group. The 4-position of the aryl ring was determinant for the desired cytotoxicity, and out of the 8 synthesized compounds, the 4-trifluoromethyl substituted derivative (4ag) exhibited the most anti-GBM potential effect compared to the standard chemotherapeutic agent, temozolomide (TMZ), with IC 50 values of 38.3 μM and 40.6 μM in SNB19 and LN229 cell lines, respectively. Our results demonstrated that 4ag triggers apoptosis through the activation of Caspase-3/7. In addition, 4ag induced intracellular reactive oxygen species (iROS) which in turn elevated mitochondrial ROS (mtROS) and causes the disruption of the mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψmt) in both GBM cells. This compound also exhibited anti-migratory properties over the time in both the cell lines. In this study, the shielding properties of novel polymer composites, developed by integrating glycidyl methacrylate with nanoparticles of bismuth oxide (Bi 2 O 3 ) and tungsten oxide (WO 3 ), were explored. The ability of the composites to attenuate gamma radiation was evaluated by measuring the emissions from Ba-133, Co-60, Cs-137, and Na-22. X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra were obtained for both the pure polymer glycidyl methacrylate and the samples containing nanostructures of Bi 2 O 3 , Bi 2 O 3 /WO 3 , and WO 3 , and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze the samples. The incorporation of Bi 2 O 3 and WO 3 nanoparticles into the polymer glycidyl methacrylate matrix significantly enhanced the composites' ability to attenuate gamma radiation, as demonstrated by the increased linear and mass attenuation coefficients. The results showed good agreement between the experiment and the XCOM database. Zolbetuximab (ZOL) is a groundbreaking monoclonal antibody targeting CLDN 18.2, a cancer cell surface protein. It is a first-in-class therapy for gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. However, there is currently any immunoassay available for bioanalysis of ZOL, hindering its pharmacokinetic studies, therapeutic monitoring, and safety profile refinement. To address this gap, this study presents the development and validation of a novel highly sensitive inner filter effect-based fluorescence immunoassay (IFE-FIA) with quantum dots (QDs) as a probe. This assay enables the quantitative determination of ZOL in plasma samples. The assay involved non-competitive capturing of ZOL from the samples using a specific antigen (CLDN 18.2 protein) immobilized on assay plate microwells. A horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labelled anti-human IgG was used to measure the immune complex. The assay's detection system relies on the formation of a light-absorbing colored product through an HRP-catalyzed oxidative reaction with the substrate 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine. This light absorption efficiently quenched the fluorescence of QDs via the IFE. The measured fluorescence signals corresponded to the concentrations of ZOL in the samples. The conditions of the IFE-FIA and its detection system were refined, and the optimum procedures were established. Following the guidelines of immunoassay validation for bioanalysis, the assay was validated, and all the validation criteria were acceptable. The assay demonstrates high sensitivity, accurately quantifying ZOL at concentrations as low as 10 ng/mL in plasma samples, with acceptable precision. Importantly, it avoids interferences from endogenous substances and plasma matrix. The recoveries in spiked human plasma ranged from 96.8 % to 104.5 %, with relative standard deviations of 4.1 %-6.5 %. Background: Tulathromycin (TUL) is a triamilide antibacterial drug which has been approved for use in the European Union and the United States for the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory diseases. The existing methods for determination of TUL in its pharmaceutical bulk form are very limited and suffer from major drawbacks., Objectives: The aim of this study was the development of two innovative microwell spectrophotometric methods (MW-SPMs) for determination of TUL in its pharmaceutical bulk form., Methods: The formation of charge-transfer complexes (CTCs) of TUL, as an electron donor, was investigated with 2,5-dihydroxy-3,6-dichlorocyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione (HCD) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (CBQ), as π-electron acceptors. The CTCs were characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and computational calculations. The reactions were employed for the development of two MW-SPMs with one step for the quantitative analysis of TUL., Results: The formation of CTCs was confirmed via the formation of characteristic absorption bands with maximum absorption at 520 and 460 nm for CTCs with HCD and CBQ, respectively. The stoichiometry of both CTCs was found to be 1:1, and the values of different spectroscopic and electronic constants confirmed the stability of the CTCs. The mechanisms of the reactions were postulated. The linear range of both MW-SPMs was 10-500 µg/mL. The LOQs were 13.5 and 26.4 µg/mL for methods involving reactions with HCD and CBQ, respectively. Both methods were successfully applied to the quantitation of TUL in pharmaceutical bulk form with acceptable accuracy and precision. The results of eco-friendliness/greenness assessment proved that both MW-SPMs fulfill the requirements of green analytical approaches. The anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and biocompatibility nature of Tamarindus indica L. fruit coat aqueous extract were investigated in this research through in-vitro and in-vivo studies. The anti-inflammatory property was determined through albumin denaturation inhibition and antiprotease activities as up to 39.5% and 41.2% respectively at 30 mg mL -1 concentration. Furthermore, the antidiabetic activity was determined through α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition as up to 62.15% and 67.35% respectively at 30 mg mL -1 dosage. The albino mice based acute toxicity study was performed by different treatment groups (group I-V) with different dosages of aqueous extract to detect the biocompatibility of sample. Surprisingly, findings revealed that the T. indica L. fruit coat aqueous extract had no harmful impacts on any of the groups. Urine, as well as serum parameter analysis, confirmed this. Moreover, the findings of SOD (Superoxide Dismutase), GST (Glutathione-S-transferase), & CAT (Catalase) as well as glutathione peroxidase as well as reduced glutathione antioxidant enzymes studies stated that the aqueous extract possess high antioxidant ability via a dose-dependent way. Visual impairment due to corneal keratitis-causing bacteria is becoming a matter of health concern. The bacterial colonization and their resistance to multiple drugs need imperative attention. To overcome the issue of alternative remedial therapeutic agents, particularly for topical application, a study was carried out to synthesize calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO NPs) using the biomaterial Eleusine coracana seed aqueous extract. The biosynthesized calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO NPs) are non-toxic or less-toxic chemical precursors. Moreover, CaO NPs are eco-friendly and are used for several industrial, biomedical, and environmental applications. Biosynthesized CaO NPs were characterized using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering study. The synthesized CaO NPs exhibit with good anti-inflammatory activities with dose dependant (50-250 μg/mL). Moreover, Eleusine coracana-mediated CaO NPs significantly inhibited the multiple drug-resistant Gram-positive Staphylococci epidermidis and Enterococcus faecalis and Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae that were isolated from the corneal ulcer. Pemigatinib (PGT) is a recently FDA-approved small molecule kinase inhibitor used for the treatment of relapsed or refractory myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms in adults. This study introduces the development of a first microwell spectrofluorimetric method (MW-SFM) for quantifying PGT in FDA-approved tablets and plasma samples. The method utilized the enhancement of PGT's weak native fluorescence by blocking photoinduced electron transfer (PET) and micellization with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). The MW-SFM was performed in 96-microwell plates, and fluorescence signals were measured using a fluorescence microplate reader with excitation at 290 nm and emission at 350 nm. The method exhibited a linear range of 2-250 ng mL -1 , and a limit of quantitation was 6.5 ng mL -1 . The accuracy and precision of the method were confirmed with recovery rates ranging from 96.5% to 102.8% and relative standard deviations of 1.52% to 3.51%. The MW-SFM successfully analyzed Pemazyre® tablets, assessed content uniformity, and analyzed PGT-spiked human plasma samples. The greenness of the MW-SFM was verified using three different metric tools. Transcriptional events play a crucial role in major cellular processes that specify the activity of an individual cells and influences cell population behavior in response to environment. Active (ON) and an inactive (OFF) states controls the transcriptional burst. Yet, the mechanism and kinetics of ON/OFF-state across the different growth phases of Escherichia coli remains elusive. Here, we have used a single mRNA detection method in live-cells to comprehend the ON/OFF mechanism of the first transcriptional (T F ) and consecutive events (T C ) controlled by lactose promoters, P lac and P lac/ara1 . We determined that the duration of T F ON/OFF has different modes, exhibiting a close to inverse behavior to that of T C ON/OFF. Dynamics of ON/OFF states in fast and slow-dividing cells were affected by the promoter region during the initiation of transcription. Period of T F ON-state defines the behavior of T C by altering the number and the frequency of mRNAs formed. Furthermore, we have shown that delayed OFF-time in T F affects the dynamics of T C in both states , which is mainly determined by the upstream promoter region. Furthermore, using elongation arrest experiments, we independently validate that mRNA noise in T C is governed by the delayed OFF-period in T F . We have identified the position of the regulatory regions that plays a crucial role in noise (Fano) modulation. Plant extracts are a great alternative to synthesizing nanoparticles of different metals and metal oxides. This green synthesis method has opened up numerous possibilities in various scientific domains. In present study, Leaf extract from Vitex negundo is a non-deciduous, long-lasting shrub from the Verbenaceae family is used as capping and reducing agents for the synthesis of silver and palladium nanoparticles. The characterization study UV-vis spectrophotometer analysis showed absorbance value around 320 nm which confirming that Ag-Pd nanoparticles have been successfully obtained. Further, SEM is used to investigate the morphology of Ag-Pd NPs, which revealing their spherical and rod-like configuration, aggregation, and the size of the particles are obtained between 50 and 100 nm. The successful synthesis of Ag-Pd NPs was further confirmed by the EDAX chart, which displayed the peak of Ag and Pd at bending energies between 0.5 and 1.5 keV. According to the quantitative study, Ag and Pd ions found about 5.24 and 13.28%, respectively. In addition, surface studies with TEM confirming that synthesized Ag-Pd NPs are predominates with spheres structure morphologies, with sizes averaging 11.20 nm and ranging from 10 to 20 nm. Further, Ag-Pd nanoparticles was applied as potential photocatalyst materials to degrade methylene blue dye and found about 85% of the degradation efficiency within 150 min of the sunlight exposure thus could be used as catalyst to removal of hazardous organic dye molecules., (© 2024. The presence of toxic trace elements (TEs) has resulted in a worldwide deterioration in freshwater ecosystem quality. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of TEs, including chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb), in water, sediment, and organs of Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) collected from selected inland water bodies in Tamil Nadu, India. The water samples exhibited a range of concentrations for TEs: Cr varied from 0.014 to 5.193 µg/L, Ni ranged from 0.283 to 11.133 µg/L, As ranged from 0.503 to 1.519 µg/L, Cd from 0.001 to 0.616 µg/L, and Pb ranged from non-detectable (ND) to 6.103 µg/L. The concentrations of TEs in sediment were found to vary within the following ranges: 5.259 to 32.621 mg/kg for Cr, 1.932 to 30.487 mg/kg for Ni, 0.129 to 0.563 mg/kg for As, 0.003 to 0.011 mg/kg for Cd, ND to 0.003 mg/kg for Hg, and 0.404 to 1.575 mg/kg for Pb. The study found that the accumulation pattern of TE in fishes across all selected areas was liver > bone > gill > muscle. The organs had TE concentrations of Cr (ND-0.769 mg/kg), Ni (ND-1.053 mg/kg), As (0.002-0.080 mg/kg), Pb (ND-0.411 mg/kg), and Hg (ND-0.067 mg/kg), which was below the maximum residual limit prescribed by EC and FSSAI. The bioconcentration factor (BCF) of TEs exhibited a greater magnitude in comparison with the biota-sediment accumulation factor due to the higher concentration of TEs in fish and lower level in water. Atezolizumab (ATZ) is a human monoclonal antibody, which has been granted multiple approvals from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the immunotherapy of different types of cancer. This study describes the prototype of a time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) for the quantitation of ATZ in plasma. The assay involved the non-competitive binding of ATZ to its specific antigen [programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) protein]. The immune complex formed on the inner surface of the assay plate wells was quantified by anti-human secondary antibody labeled with a chelate of europium-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. The enhanced fluorescence signal was generated by an enhanced fluorescence solution composed of thenoyltrifluoroacetone, trioctylphosphine oxide, and Triton X-100. The conditions of the TRFIA were refined, and its optimum procedures were established. The assay was validated in accordance with the immunoassay validation guidelines, and all the validation parameters were acceptable. The working range of the assay was 20-1000 pg mL -1 , and its limit of quantitation was 20 pg mL -1 . The assay was applied to the quantitation of ATZ in plasma samples with satisfactory accuracy and precision. A novel integrated electrochemical oxidation (EO) and bacterial degradation (BD) technique was employed for the remediation of the chloropyridinyl and chlorothiazolyl classes of neonicotinoid (NEO) insecticides in the environment. Imidacloprid (IM), clothianidin (CL), acetamiprid (AC), and thiamethoxam (TH) were chosen as the target NEOs. Pseudomonas oleovorans SA2, identified through 16S rRNA gene analysis, exhibited the potential for BD. In EO, for the selected NEOs, the total percentage of chemical oxygen demand (COD) was noted in a range of 58-69%, respectively. Subsequently, in the biodegradation of EO-treated NEOs (BEO) phase, a higher percentage (80%) of total organic carbon removal was achieved. The optimum concentration of NEOs was found to be 200 ppm (62%) for EO, while for BEO, the COD efficiency was increased up to 79%. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirms that the heterocyclic group and aromatic ring were degraded in the EO and further utilized by SA2. Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy indicated up to 96% degradation of IM and other NEOs in BD (BEO) compared to that of EO (73%). New intermediate molecules such as silanediamine, 1,1-dimethyl- n , n '-diphenyl produced during the EO process served as carbon sources for bacterial growth and further mineralized. As a result, BEO enhanced the removal of NEOs with a higher efficiency of COD and a lower consumption of energy. The removal efficiency of the NEOs by the integrated approach was achieved in the order of AC > CL > IM > TH. Synthesising and designing pseudocapacitive material with good electrochemical and electrocatalytic behaviour is essential to use as supercapacitor as well as non-enzymatic glucose sensor electrode. In this work, NiCo 2 S 4 nanoparticles decorated onto the 2D-Carbyne nanosheets are achieved by the solvothermal process. The as-prepared NiCo 2 S 4 @2D-Carbyne provides rich reaction sites and better diffusion pathways. On usage as an electrode for supercapacitor application, the NiCo 2 S 4 @2D-Carbyne exhibits the specific capacitance of about 2507 F g -1 at 1 A g -1 . In addition, the fabricated hybrid device generates an energy density of 52.2 Wh kg -1 at a power density of 1.01 kW kg -1 . Besides, the glucose oxidation behaviour of NiCo 2 S 4 @2D-Carbyne modified GCE has also been performed. The diffusion of glucose from the electrolyte to the electrode obeys the kinetic control process. Furthermore, the fabricated NiCo 2 S 4 @2D-Carbyne non-enzymatic glucose sensor exhibits a limit of detection of about 34.5 μM with a sensitivity of about 135 μA mM -1  cm -2 . Background: Cooling towers are specialized heat exchanger devices in which air and water interact closely to cool the water's temperature. However, the cooling water contains organic nutrients that can cause microbial corrosion (MC) on the metal surfaces of the tower. This research explores the combined wastewater treatment approach using electrochemical-oxidation (EO), photo-oxidation (PO), and photoelectrochemical oxidation (PEO) to contain pollutants and prevent MC., Methods: The study employed electro-oxidation, a process involving direct current (DC) power supply, to degrade wastewater. MC studies were conducted using weight loss assessments, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and x-ray diffraction (XRD)., Results: After wastewater is subjected to electro-oxidation for 4 h, a notable decrease in pollutants was observed, with degradation efficiencies of 71, 75, and 96%, respectively. In the wastewater treated by PEO, microbial growth is restricted as the chemical oxygen demand decreases., Discussion: A metagenomics study revealed that bacteria present in the cooling tower water consists of 12% of Nitrospira genus and 22% of Fusobacterium genus. This study describes, for the first time, the development and validation of a novel ultrasensitive chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay (CLEIA) for the quantification of atezolizumab (ATZ), a monoclonal antibody approved by the FDA for treatment of different types of cancer. The assay involved the non-competitive binding of ATZ to its specific antigen (PD-L1 protein). The immune complex of PD-L1/ATZ formed on the internal surface of the plate wells was quantified by a novel chemiluminescence (CL)-producing horseradish peroxidase (HRP) reaction. The reaction employed a highly efficient CL enhancer for the HRP-luminol-hydrogen peroxide reaction which was 4-(imidazol-1-yl)phenol. The conditions of the CLEIA and its detection system were refined, and the optimum procedures were established. The CLEIA was validated in accordance with the guidelines of immunoassay validation for bioanalysis, and all the validation criteria were acceptable. The assay's limit of detection and limit of quantitation were 12.5 and 37.5 pg mL -1 , respectively, with a working dynamic range of 25-800 pg mL -1 . The assay enables the accurate and precise quantitation of ATZ in human plasma samples without any interferences from endogenous substances and/or the plasma matrix. The results of the proposed CLEIA were favourably comparable with those of a pre-validated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a colorimetric detection system. The CLEIA is characterized by simple and high throughput features. The CLEIA is superior to the existing analytical methodologies for ATZ. Herein, we report the nonlinear optical (NLO) refraction and absorption features of azo dye namely, methyl orange (MO) dissolved in ethanol, methanol, acetone, 1-propanol, DMF and DMSO. The UV-Visible absorption study reveals that the maximum absorption spectrum of MO dye appeared towards longer wavelength by increasing the solvent polarizability is the result of red shift or bathochromic shift. The Z-scan method is utilized to measure the third-order NLO features of MO dye in different polar solvents. A continuous wave laser with 5-mW power and an excitation wavelength of 405 nm is employed in the Z-scan technique. The NLO features including nonlinear index of refraction (n 2 ), nonlinear coefficient of absorption (β) and third-order NLO susceptibility (χ 3 ) are calculated to be the order of 10 -7 cm 2 /W, 10 -2  cm/W and 10 -7 esu, respectively. The NLO index of refraction shows peak-valley transmittance is the result of self-defocusing and NLO absorption coefficient exhibits both positive and negative nonlinearity owing to saturable absorption (SA) and reverse saturable absorption (RSA). The effect of solvent polarizability and dipole moment on third-order NLO susceptibility of MO dye is discussed. This study emphasis the solvent effect on third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) features of methyl red (MR) dye dissolved in polar solvents including ethanol, methanol, acetone, 1-propanol, DMF and DMSO using low power diode laser. Z-scan technique operating at 405 nm wavelength, is used to estimate the third-order NLO features of MR dye in various solvents. The dye discloses self-defocusing nonlinear index of refraction (n 2 ), which is determined to be the order of 10 -7 cm 2 /W. The nonlinear coefficient of absorption (β) of MR dye displays both negative and positive value owing to saturable absorption (SA) and reverse saturable absorption (RSA), respectively. The real and imaginary components of the third-order NLO susceptibility of MR dye in polar solvents are measured to be the order of 10 -6 esu and 10 -7 esu, respectively. The dye exhibits a large NLO susceptibility in DMSO, which is estimated to be 1.21 × 10 -6 esu. The effect of solvent spectral features on MR dye is determined by applying a multi-parameter scale called Kamlet-Abboud-Taft. Poly aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are considered as hazardous compounds which causes serious threat to the environment dua to their more carcinogenic and mutagenic impacts. In this study, Pseudomonas aeruginosa PP4 strain and synthesized iron nanoparticles were used to evaluate the biodegradation efficiency (BE %) of residual anthracene. The BE (%) of mixed degradation system (Anthracene + PP4+ FeNPs) was obtained about 67 %. The FTIR spectra result revealed the presence of functional groups (C-H, -CH 3 , CC, =C-H) in the residual anthracene. The FESEM and TEM techniques were used to determine the surface analysis of the synthesized FeNPs and the average size was observed by TEM around 5-50 nm. The crystalline nature of the synthesized iron nanoparticles was confirmed by the observed different respective peaks of XRD pattern. The various functional constituents (OH, C-H, amide I, CH 3 ) were identified in the synthesized iron nanoparticles by FTIR spectrum. SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposites were synthesized using a facile wet impregnation method, employing rigorous experimental techniques for comprehensive characterization. XRD, FTIR, UV, PL, FESEM, and HRTEM were meticulously utilized to elucidate their structural, functional, morphological, and optical properties. The electrochemical performance of the SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite was rigorously assessed, revealing an impressive specific capacitance of 850 F/g at a current density of 1 A. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of the SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite was rigorously examined using methylene blue (MB) dye, and the results were outstanding. After 120 min of UV irradiation, the nanocomposite exhibited an exceptional MB dye degradation efficiency exceeding 88%. The SrTiO 3 /Ag nanocomposite represents an exemplary catalyst in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental compatibility, and reusability. The electron and superoxide radicals play a chief role in the MB dye degradation process. The inclusion of Ag within the SrTiO 3 matrix facilitated the formation of a conductive nano-network, ultimately resulting in superior capacitive and photocatalytic performance., (© 2024. This study presents an environmentally sustainable method for minimizing sludge production in the textile effluent sector through the combined application of electrokinetic (EK) and electrooxidation (EO) processes. AAS and XRF analyses reveal that utilizing acidic electrolytes in the EK method successfully eliminates heavy metals (Cu, Mn, Zn, and Cr) from sludge, demonstrating superior efficiency compared to alkaline conditions. In addition, the total removal efficiency of COD contents was calculated following the order of EK-3 (60%), EK-1 (51%) and EK-2 (34%). Notably, EK-3, leveraging pH gradient fluctuations induced by anolyte in the catholyte reservoir, outperforms other EK systems in removing COD from sludge. The EK process is complemented by the EO process, leading to further degradation of dye and other organic components through the electrochemical generation of hypochlorite (940 ppm). At an alkaline pH of 10.0, the color and COD removal were effectively achieved at 98 and 70% in EO treatment, compared to other mediums. In addition, GC-MS identified N-derivative residues at the end of the EO. A facile and cost-effective hydrothermal followed by precipitation method is employed to synthesize visible light-driven ZnS-Ag ternary composites supported on carbon aerogel (CA). Extensive studies were conducted on the structural, morphological, and optical properties, confirming the successful formation of ternary nanocomposites. The obtained results evidently demonstrate the successful loading of ZnS and Ag onto the surface of the CA. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed that ZnS and Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were uniformly distributed on the surface of the CA with an average diameter of 18 nm. The biomass-derived CA, containing a hierarchical porous nano-architecture and an abundant number of -NH 2 functional groups on the surface, can greatly prevent the agglomeration, stability and reduce particle size. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis results indicated specific surface areas of 4.62 m 2  g -1 for the CA, 48.50 m 2  g -1 for the CA/ZnS composite, and 62.62 m 2  g -1 for the CA/ZnS-Ag composite. These values demonstrate an increase in surface area upon the incorporation of ZnS and Ag into the CA matrix. Under visible light irradiation, the synthesized CA/ZnS-Ag composites displayed remarkably improved photodegradation efficiency of methylene blue (MB). Among the tested samples, the CA/ZnS-Ag composites exhibited the highest percentage of photodegradation efficiency, surpassing ZnS, CA, and CA/ZnS. The obtained percentages of degradation efficiency for CA, ZnS, CA/ZnS, and CA/ZnS-Ag composites were determined as 26.60%, 52.12%, 68.39%, and 98.64%, respectively. These results highlight the superior photocatalytic performance of the CA/ZnS-Ag composites in the degradation of MB under visible light conditions. The superior efficiency of the CA/ZnS-Ag composite can be attributed to multiple factors, including its elevated specific surface area, inhibition of electron-hole pair recombination, and enhanced photon absorption within the visible light spectrum. The CA/ZnS-Ag composites displayed consistent efficiency over multiple cycles, confirming their stable performance, reusability, and enduring durability, thereby showcasing the robust nature of this composite material., (© 2024. Polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are life-threatening organic pollutants that severely threaten ecosystems worldwide due to their poisonous qualities, cancer-causing properties, and mutation-causing qualities. Water and soil together form a critical component of the ecosystem that supports all life. Due to the pollutants that are being disposed of in them, their characteristics have changed, and their toxicity has increased. The goal of this study was to investigate the ability of hausmannite nanoparticles to degrade fluorene from soil and water. Using the chemical method, hausmannite nanoparticles were synthesized and further characterization was performed using UV-Vis, FTIR, DLS, XRD, and SEM-EDAX. Hausmannite significantly degraded fluorene using the batch adsorption method. The degradation was also confirmed by performing reactive kinetics using Freundlich's isotherm model and Langmuir's pseudo-second-order model of soil and water. In addition to the degradation efficacy, hausmannite was also proved to inhibit biofilm formation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The findings of the experiments confirmed the presence of hausmannite nanoparticles, as well as their physical properties, chemical properties, degradation properties, and parameters of the kinetic study. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are potentially hazardous compounds that could cause a severe impact on many ecosystems. They are very challenging to remove using conventional methods due to their hydrophobic nature. However, this issue can be resolved by utilizing surface-active molecules to increase their bioavailability. In this study, pyrene was chosen as the PAH compound to explore its degradability by the effect of individual bacterial strains (Pseudomonas stutzeri NA3 and Acinetobacter baumannii MN3) and mixed consortia (MC) along with natural surfactant derived from Sapindus mukorossi and iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs). Additionally, fatty acids esters, dipeptides, and sugar derivative groups were identified as potent bioactive components of natural surfactants. Various techniques, such as XRD, VSM, TEM, and FE-SEM with EDX, were utilized to characterize the pristine and Fenton-treated iron oxide NPs. The analytical results confirmed that the Fe 3 O 4 crystal phase and spherical-shaped NPs exhibited excellent magnetic properties. The impact of natural surfactants and iron oxide NPs has significantly contributed to the biodegradation process, resulting in a prominent decrease in chemical oxygen demand (COD) levels. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis showed that biodegradation systems produced primary hydrocarbon intermediates, which underwent oxidative degradation through Fenton treatment. Interestingly, synthesized iron oxide NPs effectively produced hydroxyl radical (•OH) during the Fenton reaction, which was confirmed by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra, and the pristine iron oxide NPs underwent a material transformation observed. The study demonstrated an integrated approach for biodegradation and the Fenton reaction process to enhance the pyrene degradation efficiency (90%) compared to other systems. Using natural surfactants and iron oxide NPs in aquatic environments serves as a crucial platform at the interface of microorganisms and contaminated oil products. The removal of color-causing compounds from wastewater is a significant challenge that industries encounter due to their toxic, carcinogenic, and harmful properties. Despite the extensive research and development of various techniques with the objective of effectively degrading color pollutants, the challenge still persists. This paper introduces a simple technique for producing iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe 2 O 3 NPs) using orange fruit peel for sustainable dye degradation in aqueous environment. The observation of color change and the measurement of UV-visible absorbance at 240 nm provided a confirmation for the development of Fe 2 O 3 NPs. Transmission electron microscopy examination demonstrated that the Fe 2 O 3 NPs have an agglomerated distribution and forming spherical structures with size ranging from 25-80 nm. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis supported the existence of Fe and O. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy conducted to investigate the involvement of orange peel extract in the reduction, capping, and synthesis of Fe 2 O 3 NPs from the precursor salt. Fe 2 O 3 NPs showed a photocatalytic remediation of 97%, for methylene blue under visible light irradiation. Additionally, prepared NPs exhibited concentration depended biofilm inhibition action against E. coli and S. aureus. In conclusion, Fe 2 O 3 NPs can efficiently purify water and suppress pathogens due to their strong degrading activity, reusability, and biofilm inhibition property., (© 2023. Background: Breast adenocarcinoma cells (MCF-7) are characterized by the overexpression of apoptotic marker genes and proliferative cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), which promote cancer cell proliferation. Thymol, derived from Nigella sativa (NS), has been investigated for its potential anti-proliferative and anticancer properties, especially its ability to suppress Cyclin D1 and PCNA expression, which are crucial in the proliferation of cancer cells., Methods: The cytotoxicity of thymol on MCF-7 cells was assessed using 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release methods. Thymol was tested at increasing concentrations (0-1000 µM) to evaluate its impact on MCF-7 cell growth. Additionally, Cyclin D1 and PCNA gene expression in thymol-treated and vehicle control groups of MCF-7 were quantified using real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR). Protein-ligand interactions were also investigated using the CB-Dock2 server., Results: Thymol significantly inhibited MCF-7 cell growth, with a 50% inhibition observed at 200 µM. The gene expression of Cyclin D1 and PCNA was down-regulated in the thymol-treated group relative to the vehicle control. The experimental results were verified through protein-ligand interaction investigations., Conclusions: Thymol, extracted from NS, demonstrated specific cytotoxic effects on MCF-7 cells by suppressing the expression of Cyclin D1 and PCNA, suggesting its potential as an effective drug for MCF-7. In recent years, g-C 3 N 4 -Ag nanocomposite synthesis has gained considerable attention for its potential to treat polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and to act against bacteria and fungi. In this study, we present a novel approach to the synthesis of g-C 3 N 4 -Ag nanocomposite and evaluate its efficiency in both PAH removal and antimicrobial activity. The synthesis process involved the preparation of g-C 3 N 4 by thermal polycondensation of melamine. The factors that affect the adsorption process of PAHs, like time, pH, irradiation type, and adsorbent dosage, were also evaluated. Isotherm models like Langmuir and Freundlich determined the adsorption capability of g-C 3 N 4 -Ag. In simulated models, phenanthrene was degraded to a maximum of 85% at lower concentrations of catalyst. The adsorption profile of phenanthrene obeys the pseudo-second-order and Freundlich isotherms pattern. The g-C 3 N 4 -Ag nanocomposite also exhibited antimicrobial activity against bacteria (Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae) and fungi (Candida albicans). The present study is the first report stating the dual application of g-C 3 N 4 -Ag nanocomposite in reducing the concentration of PAH and killing bacterial and fungal pathogens. Biosurfactants are surface active molecules generated by various microorganisms, including bacteria, actinobacteria, algae, and fungi. In this study, bacterial strains are isolated from soil contaminated with used motor oil and examined for potential biosurfactant production. A minimum salt medium (MSM), with crude oil as the only carbon source, is used to isolate potential biosurfactant-producing bacterial strains. About 23 strains are isolated, and all are subjected to the primary screening methods for biosurfactant production. Based on the emulsification index, oil displacement, and drop collapse screening methods, two isolates with potential biosurfactant-producing ability are selected for further studies. The synthesis of biosurfactants, crude oil and anthracene biodegradation is carried out with strains DTS1 and DTS2. Both strains show significant outcomes in crude oil degradation. In addition, both strains can utilize anthracene as the sole carbon source. During the degradation course, changes in the growth conditions are continuously monitored by measuring turbidity and pH. In this degradation study, the biosurfactant production aptitude of the isolated strains plays an essential role in increasing the bioavailability of hydrophobic hydrocarbons. These strains are identified down to the molecular level by employing 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and the acquired sequences are submitted to get the accession numbers. The properties of a conjugated copolymer (CP), poly[(9,9-Dioctyl-2,7-divinylenefluorenylene)-alt-co-(2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene) (PDVF-co-MEH-PV), were investigated in the presence of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using absorption, fluorescence, laser, and time-resolved spectroscopy. CPs are usually dissolved in low-polar solvents. Although GO does not dissolve well, rGO and PDVF-co-MEH-PV dissolve in chloroform due to their oxygen acceptor sites. Hence, we studied rGO/PDVF-co-MEH-PV (CP/rGO), performing all experiments and simulations in chloroform. We performed simulations on PDVF-co-MEH-PV, approximate GO, and rGO using time-dependent density-functional theory calculations to comprehend the molecular dynamics and interactions at the molecular level. The simulation polymer used a tail-truncated oligomer model with up to three monomer units. The simulation and experimental results were in agreement. Further, the PDVF-co-MEH-PV exhibited fluorescence, laser quenching, rGO-mediated laser blinking, and spectral broadening effects when GO and rGO concentrations increased. The experimental and simulation results were compared to provide a plausible mechanism of interaction between PDVF-co-MEH-PV and rGO. We observed that for lower concentrations of rGO, the interaction did not considerably decrease the amplified spontaneous emissions of PDVF-co-MEH-PV. However, the fluorescence of PDVF-co-MEH-PV was considerably quenched at higher concentrations of rGO. These results could be helpful for future applications, such as in sensors, solar cells, and optoelectronic device design. To demonstrate the sensor capability of these composites, a paper-based sensor was designed to detect ethanol and nitrotoluene. An instrumentation setup was proposed that is cheap, reusable, and multifunctional.

In this study, we investigated the deactivation kinetics and mechanism of N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 nanopowder as a model photocatalyst for the purpose of facilitating the photocatalytic degradation of acrylonitrile (AN) in aqueous environment. Prior research has already displayed the proficient degradation of AN through the utilization of N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 catalysts, revealing a degradation efficiency of 81.2% within a span of 6 min at an initial AN concentration of 10 mg/L. Multiple variables including the initial AN concentration, illumination intensity, and initial pH value were extensively analyzed during the degradation process. The kinetics of photocatalytic degradation of AN, facilitated by the N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 photocatalyst, were modeled by fitting the pseudo first-order reaction kinetics to each individual factor. Furthermore, the adverse effect of catalyst poisoning during the photocatalytic breakdown of AN using the N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 photocatalyst was analyzed through a range of different techniques including SEM, XPS, BET, XRD, TG, and NH 3 -TPD. The incorporation of findings from these diverse techniques revealed that, the primary factors contributing to the photocatalyst's poisoning were as follows: (i) During the degradation process, the build-up of intermediate molecules on active sites hindered their functionality, leading to a decrease in the efficiency of the photocatalytic reaction, (ii) Carbonaceous deposits formed when the catalyst's pore structure was obstructed by pollutants or intermediate products that had not undergone timely photocatalytic breakdown and (iii) The persistent erosion of active sites due to hydraulic forces resulted in inadequate performance of the N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 photocatalyst in aqueous solutions. A comprehensive analysis of the deactivation kinetics was conducted, deciding in the formulation of a detailed poisoning mechanism for the N-F-TiO 2 /SiO 2 photocatalyst. Additionally, we explored the catalysts regeneration, involving thermal treatment, ultrasonic irradiation, and catalyst reloading. This study not only advances our insight into the waning performance of catalysts in aqueous media but also establishes a conceptual framework for extrapolating analogous deactivation dynamics in other catalysts, grounded in precedent experimental knowledge. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), a naturally occurring and rapidly decomposing polymer, has gained significant attention in recent studies for its potential use in pollution preventive materials. Its cost-effectiveness and ease of availability as well as simple processing make it a suitable material for various applications. However, the only concern about PVA's applicability to various applications is its hydrophilic nature. To address this limitation, PVA-based nanocomposites can be created by incorporating inorganic fillers such as graphene (G). Graphene is a two-dimensional carbon crystal with a single atom-layer structure and has become a popular choice as a nanomaterial due to its outstanding properties. In this study, we present a simple and environmentally friendly solution processing technique to fabricate PVA and graphene-based nanocomposite films. The resulting composite films showed noticeable improvement in barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, heat, and mechanical failures. The improvement of the characteristic properties is attributed to the uniform dispersion of graphene in the PVA matrix as shown in the SEM image. The addition of graphene leads to a decrease in water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) by 79% and around 90% for the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) as compared to pristine PVA films. Notably, incorporating just 0.5 vol % of graphene results in an OTR value of as low as 0.7 cm m -2 day -1 bar -1 , making it highly suitable packaging applications. The films also exhibit remarkable flexibility and retained almost the same WVTR values even after going through tough bending cycles of more than 2000 at a bending radius of 2.5 cm. The present study, reports a facile approach for the synthesis of FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanocomposites were demonstrated through hydrothermal method. The surface morphology, crystalline structure, chemical composition, optical properties of the prepared samples was analysed by different various technique. The result observed analysis indicates that, the formation of heterojunction by 2:1wt% of FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanohybrid has the lowest recombination rate of electron-hole pairs and the least electron transfer resistance. Due to its the broad absorption spectral range and preferable energy band gap, the (2:1) FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanohybrid photocatalyst exhibits an excellent ability to remove MB dye when exposed to UV-Vis. Light irradiation. Its photocatalytic activity of (2:1) FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanohybrid is higher than other as prepared samples due to its synergistic effects, enhanced light absorption and high charge carrier separation. Radical trapping experimental result implies that the photo-generated free electrons and hydroxyl radials are essential to degrade the MB dye. Furthermore, a possible future mechanism for FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanocomposites photocatalytic activity was discussed. Moreover, the recyclability analysis demonstrated that the FeWO 4 /FeS 2 nanocomposites can be recycled multiple times. Introduction: Ointments are generally used as a therapeutic agent for topical medication or transdermal drug delivery, such as wound healing and skin lesions., Methods: In this study, Tridax procumbens plant extract (0.7 g/mL) was used to prepare herbal-infused oil as the oil phase and gelatin-stabilized silver nanoparticle (G-AgNPs) (0.3 g/mL) as the aqueous phase. To blend the oil and aqueous phases, rhamnolipid biosurfactant with a critical micelle concentration of 55 mg/L from strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa PP4 has been used for herb ointment preparation. The average size of the synthesized G-AgNPs was observed between 10-30 nm and confirmed as spherical-shaped particles by TEM analysis. Subsequently, GC-MS and FTIR characterization are used to confirm herb ointment's chemical and functional characteristics., Results: Based on the antibacterial studies, the highest microbial growth inhibition was observed for herb ointment, about 19.5 mm for the pathogen Staphylococcus aureus at the concentration of 100 μg/mL, whereas 15.5 mm was obtained for Escherichia coli, respectively. In addition, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assay showed negligible bacterial growth at 100 μg/mL for S. aureus and E. coli, respectively. Moreover, the cell viability assay for herb ointment exhibited low cytotoxic activity at higher concentrations (100 μg/mL) in Vero cell lines. In this study, wound scratch assay showed a significant cell migration rate (90 ± 2%) in 3 days of incubation than the control (62 ± 2%)., Discussion: As a result, the biosurfactant-based nano-topical herb ointment revealed a low cytotoxic and higher cell migration capacity.
