Anahtar Sözcükler: tıp eğitimi, entegrasyon, tıp öğrencisi, program değerlendirme Medical education is a dynamic process and needs to be continuously adapted to the current conditions, environment and time. Today, one of the important steps of the procedures aiming to increase the quality in medical education is to evaluate the education program and to make changes for improvement. Questionnaires have been used for many years in the evaluation of education by students and are an essential and important part of the assessment of teaching effectiveness. The aim of this study is to evaluate the feedback and academic achievements of Term 1 students on the committees during 2016-2017 academic year in which integrated program is implemented for the first time and the following two academic years. The opinions of the students about the education they received were obtained from the feedback forms prepared with 5-point Likert scale. The themes `Information and Communication`,`Structure`,`Integration`,`Content`,`Assessment and Evaluation` and `General`, except for Board 2 öğrenci, have improved significantly compared to the first year. The training was transformed into a dynamic process by evaluating the data both for the evaluation of the process and for the preparation of the program for the next year. In addition, the students were informed about the improvements made according to the feedback received from them and thus they felt that they and their opinions were valued so that they could take an active role in this process which is important for BUÜTF.Keywords: medical education, integration, medical student, program evaluation 123

- Abstract

- Abstract

Tuberous Sclerosis (TS) is an autosomal dominantly inherited disorder characterized by the presence of hamartomas in multiple organ systems. The classic clinical triad is epilepsy, mental retardation and skin lesions named as adenoma sebaceum. The most common lesion in kidney is angiomyolipoma in TS. It is seen in 40 to 80 % of patients. These lesions are tend to grow and may led to severe haemorhage. In our study, 14 patients with tuberous sclerosis diagnosed by clinical findings and radiologic examinations (cranial CT and MR) were investigated for renal involvement of tuberous sclerosis. History, complaints, physical examinations, laboratory examinations and renal US and BT examinations of patients were evaluated retrospectively. Multiple renal angiomyolipomas were detected in eight of fourteen patients by US and CT. Two of these patients had findings of renal insufficiency. These two are older patients and their AMLs were larger. In tuberous sclerosis, angiomyolipomas are common renal lesions and are tend to increase with age. They may lead to renal insufficiency. But it is not yet known why and how AML grows. Further research is needed in this regard, Tuberous sclerosis (TS) otozomal dominant geçişli, birçok organ sisteminde hamartomlarla karakterize bir hastalıktır.

Huzur evi,Yaşlılar,Sağlık taraması ,Rest-home,Elder people,Health inspection - Abstract
Together with our ageing world, the ageing of the population in our country makes the health and care problems of elder people more important every day. By visiting the three rest-homes of Bursa Municipality, we aimed to examine the socio-demographical characteristics of these people, to find out their most frequent health problems and to define the properties of rest-home life, according to the own descriptions of their elder residents. The rest-homes were visited in May 2001, where first the face-to-face interviews with the elder people were done, followed by their physical examinations. 60,1% and 39,9% of the study group were male and female, respectively, with a mean age of 69,98±0,78.Of the study group, 35,2% had no health insurance at all, 14,5% were graduated from colleges or universities, whereas 45% were just literate. 78,8% had at least one chronic disease. At the physical examinations, problems were found most frequently in dents, ears and in the cardiovascular system. The elder people were generally content to live in the rest-homes, but they added that the atmosphere is like a hostel or resthouse, which makes them miss their homes., Yaşlanan dünyamız ile birlikte ülkemizde de nüfusun giderek yaşlanması, yaşlıların sağlık ve bakım problemlerinin her geçen gün artarak önem kazanmasına neden olmaktadır. Çalışma grubunun %60,1'i erkek, %39,9'u kadın ve yaş ortalamaları 69,98±0,78 idi. Hiçbir sağlık güvencesi olmayanların oranı % 35,2 idi. %14,5'i lise ve yüksek okul mezunu, %45'i ise yalnızca okur yazar idi.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cause of cancer related deaths worldwide. Screening tests are used to detect colorectal cancer at an early stage and to prevent cancer developing. Taking into account the country's infrastructure and facilities, each country has created its own ideal screening program. The spread of participation in screening programs to the general population is an important factor for screening success. The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge and attitudes of the patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer for screening and to determine the reasons for this in non-screening patients.Patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer who were newly diagnosed or followed in the Oncology Outpatient Clinic and General Surgery Clinic of Uludag University Medical Faculty between 15.03.2019-15.07.2019 were included in the study. Demographic data, nutritional status, habits, chronic diseases, drugs used, colorectal cancer screening knowledge level and undergoing screening status questionnaire interviewed face-to-face with got approval patients and the answers were recorded in the questionnaire form.Of the 60 patients included in the study, no patients were diagnosed after screening was determined. 10% (n = 6) of the patients had a history of colorectal cancer in their first degree relatives. It was found that 68.3% (n = 41) of the patients did not hear colorectal cancer screening before, and 91.7% (n = 55) did not mention colorectal cancer screening by physicians when applying to a health institution before diagnosis. It was found that 48.3% (n = 29) of the patients did not feel any physical complaints and 43.3% (n = 26) because of lack of information about screening tests did not have screening. The reasons for not having other screening tests were 5% (n = 3), fear of negative results, 1.7% (n = 1), fear of privacy and privacy, and 1.7% (n = 1) time limit for screening tests. No significant relationship was found between the socioeconomic status of the patients and the reasons for not screening.According to the data obtained from our study, the level of information about colorectal cancer screening was found to be very low. It was found that the patients included in the study did not receive sufficient information before the diagnosis in the health institutions. Given the importance of physician-patient collaboration in compliance with cancer screening, informing patients by the physician will enable the desired screening rates in colorectal cancers to be achieved. Keywords: colorectal cancer, screening, knowledge and attitude. 61

Objectives To investigate the influence of sociodemographic characteristics and menopause perception on self-reported menopause-related symptoms among Turkish women and analyze their knowledge and attitudes towards menopause and hormone therapy. Methods This was a population-based, cross-sectional, descriptive study. A total of 1007 women were recruited while attending primary-care health clinics. Women who agreed to participate in the study gave written informed consent. Each woman completed a questionnaire and had an interview to investigate her current health problems. Results Various different problems were reported by 86% of the women, mainly hot flushes. The women who perceived menopause as a pathological period had more complaints. The level of education influenced a more positive perception of the menopause. Only 12% of women were taking a hormonal treatment. Conclusion Different perceptions of menopause among Turkish women are influenced by many factors, including cultural differences, level of education, regular exercise, social factors, and impact of the media. These need to be considered when studying the frequency and characteristics of menopausal problems.

Background: Diagnosing GABHS (Group A-beta Hemolytic Streptococcus) tonsillopharyngitis by clinical scoring is a recommended approach in developed countries, but there is still much controversy for low resource settings.Aim: We aimed to assess the impact of Centor criteria with the support of practical laboratory tests. Methods: We prospectively included patients complaining sore throat (N = 282). We evaluated them in terms of Centor scoring and performed white blood cell count (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), rapid antigen detecting test, and throat culture. Results: In GABHS cases (n = 32, 11·3%), two of the criteria were observed to be positive in more than half of the cases (n = 19, 59·3%), while 13 (40·7%) cases met three/four criteria. The specificity of having two criteria was found to be 65·5% and increased to 91·5% after including CRP and WBC.Conclusion: Centor criteria could be safely used to reduce unnecessary antibiotic usage for tonsillopharyngitis in developing countries.

Patients' health literacy is increasingly recognized as a critical factor affecting health communication and outcomes. We performed this study to assess the levels of health literacy by using Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Medicine (REALM) and Newest Vital Sign (NVS) instruments. Patients (n = 456) at a family medicine clinic completed in-person interviews, REALM and NVS tests which were translated into the Turkish language by translation-back translation process. Additional questions regarding demographic characteristics were also collected. The mean scores (mean + or - standard error) for REALM and NVS were 60.29 + or - 0.32 and 2.60 + or - 0.08, respectively. The REALM test scores showed that 2.7% had inadequate (less than or equal to 6th grade), 38.6% marginal (7th to 8th grade) and 58.7% (greater than or equal to 9th grade) adequate health literacy. The NVS test score revealed a proportion of 28.1% had adequate health literacy. Educational attainment was the most important demographic characteristic found to be related to the health literacy. Reading and vocabulary skills were better than numerical capabilities. Female, primary school educated and poor economic condition participants and those who were older had the lowest scores in both the tests.

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore consanguinity, consanguineous marriages, their different types, and socio-demographic correlates in a suburb of Bursa, the fourth largest city in Turkey. Material and Methods: A total of 1380 ever married women, who attended the Emek Family Medicine Clinic in this suburb over a period of one year, were requested to participate in the study. Those who gave their informed consent were accepted as study participants. A total of I 110 women were interviewed. The questionnaire provided information on consanguinity and socio-demographic data. Analyses were made by using SPSS V.11.5. Results: The mean age of our study participants was (mean SE) 34.2 +/- 0.6 years. Most of them were illiterate and housewives. About one-third of the participants had consanguineous marriages and about 93% of those marriages were between first cousins. Among first cousin unions, marriage with uncle's male child was the most common. The mean coefficient of inbreeding was 0.015458. Consanguineous marriages were more prevalent among illiterate women, Consanguineous marriages were 4 times more common in women with a family history of consanguinity than in women without any such history. There were no significant correlations between consanguineous marriages and reported stillbirths, miscarriages or infant deaths. However, we found a significant relationship between consanguineous marriages and reported congenital malformations of the offspring. Conclusion: We conclude that offspring of consanguineous unions are at high risk for some congenital malformations and diseases. Hence, we recommend that families with a high risk for genetic diseases be identified and be provided with prospective genetic counseling.

Objective: To explore the prevalence, type, frequency and causes of domestic marital violence among Turkish women in a socio-economically developed metropolitan setting. Methods: A cross-sectional Study was performed in 2003. All married women, aged 18 years and over, who were visiting any of the 50 primary health care units for different purposes were asked to participate in the study. Of 1427 asked, 1010 gave consent and completed face-to-face interviews. Multiple correspondence analysis, and logistic regression were used for statistical analyses. Results: Domestic violence was statistically significantly associated with educational level. Illiterate women reported marital abuse 2.6 times more than university or more educated women. No statistically significant relationship was observed between domestic marital violence and women's age or occupation, marital duration or family income. The most frequently reported type of violence was physical, followed by psychological. Among women reporting domestic violence, those with the lowest educational level and income were experiencing all types of domestic violence frequently. Conclusion: Placing more importance oil educating girls Could be a key component ofprcventing domestic violence.

Further research is needed in this regard.

Çalışma grubunun %60,1’i erkek, %39,9’u kadın ve yaş ortalamaları 69,98±0,78 idi. Hiçbir sağlık güvencesi olmayanların oranı % 35,2 idi. %14,5’i lise ve yüksek okul mezunu, %45’i ise yalnızca okur yazar idi. The elder people were generally content to live in the rest-homes, but they added that the atmosphere is like a hostel or resthouse, which makes them miss their homes.

BackgroundWheezing is the most common symptom of childhood respiratory tract illnesses. It is important not only for its associated acute morbidity, but also for the fact that early childhood wheezing confers a high risk for asthma. Epidemiological studies from various countries show that 10–15% of children MethodsIn this retrospective study, we evaluated the association between a history of wheezing and prenatal, postnatal, familial, and environmental risk factors in 858 7-year-old children, randomly selected from seven primary schools in Bursa, Turkey, by means of an easy-to-understand questionnaire form. Among these children, 12.4% had a history of early transient wheezing, 7.1% had persistent wheezing, and 7.7% had late onset wheezing; 72.8% had no wheezing symptoms and 33.3% of children who experienced wheezing during the first 3 years of life had physician-diagnosed asthma.ResultsNotable risk factors associated with wheezing were as follows: male gender, lower socioeconomic status, premature birth, maternal smoking during pregnancy, bottle-feeding before 2 months of age, dampness and mold at home, hospitalization due to any respiratory illness in infancy, history of croup between 6 months and 5 years of age, frequent upper respiratory infections during the first 3 years of life, allergic eczema in the child, and any allergic disease in the mother or siblings.ConclusionThis study shows that the high rates of reported wheezing in the 858 primary school children in Bursa are clearly attributable to important risk factors that have long been recognized and discussed by researchers worldwide, and this suggests that all efforts at primary prevention may be insufficient.
