Introduction. The nasal dorsal flap, described by Rieger in 1967, is a versatile method of nasal reconstruction that respects the aesthetic subunits of the nose. Method. This paper offers a presentation of the three clinical cases of basal cell carcinomas located in the middle third and the distal third of the nose. After the excision of carcinomas, the skin defects with dimensions of 1.4/1.3 cm, 1.5/1.3 cm and 2.3/2.2 cm were reconstructed with a dorsal nasal flap. Results. The complete excision was obtained with clear margins. The postoperative evolution was favorable, without complications, with 100% flaps integration. There was obtained a normal nasal contour with discrete scars. The dorsal nasal flap allows the reconstruction of the nasal defects using a single unit of tissue similar to the local tissue defect, the postoperative scars overlapping lines of junction between the aesthetic subunits, and it causes a minimal skin distortion at the level of the nose and a symmetrical distortion at the level of the nasal lobule. The variability of the skin defects and the individual features may lead to the reconstruction of defects with diameters larger than 2 cm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
