Mobile applications for learning management systems (LMS) are becoming extremely common in higher education institutions, with student satisfaction (SS) being crucial for their adoption and effectiveness. This study addresses the gap in understanding factors influencing SS with LMS mobile applications by employing structural equation modeling (SEM) based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). Quantitative study was adopted in this study, involving 475 undergraduate students. The findings of the study revealed that students' satisfaction with mobile applications for LMS is significantly and positively influenced by external factors (mobile application self-efficacy, content quality, and enjoyment), as well as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The results provide practical insights for decision-makers, professionals, and developers in higher educational institutes on how to effectively implement e-learning systems using mobile applications. This study explores students' awareness of life skills and highlights their importance across various academic specializations. While not directly acquired from specialized courses, life skills enhance student motivation and foster Creativity. The research investigates life skills awareness among students at the University of Jordan (UJ) by measuring students' awareness of life skills. A questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of 1,224 students enrolled in the Ethics and Human Values course, ensuring representation across gender, academic specialization, and academic level. The sample was selected to comprehensively cover the studied variables, with demographic characteristics such as age, gender, educational background, and geographic distribution detailed. Data were analyzed using SPSS, calculating arithmetic means and standard deviations and applying ANOVA to identify statistically significant differences between variables. The analysis focused on differences in life skills awareness based on gender, academic specialization, academic level, and the completion of the Ethics and Human Values course. The results revealed a high overall average score on the life skills scale, indicating a strong level of awareness among UJ students. Statistically significant differences were found between students who had completed the Ethics and Human Values course and those who had not, with the former group exhibiting higher levels of life skills awareness. This study emphasizes the need to develop learning activities, instructional approaches, and assessment methods to promote life skills acquisition. It highlights the importance of expanding curricular and extracurricular opportunities within the university, recognizing that life skills development extends beyond academic pursuits. Background Acute respiratory infections ( ARIs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Influenza typically contributes substantially to the burden of ARI, but only limited data are available on influenza activity and seasonality in Jordan. Methods Syndromic case definitions were used to identify individuals with severe acute respiratory infections ( SARI) admitted to four sentinel hospitals in Jordan. Demographic and clinical data were collected. Nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs were tested for influenza using real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and typed as influenza A or B, with influenza A further subtyped. Results From January 2008-February 2014, 2891 SARI cases were tested for influenza, and 257 (9%) were positive. While 73% of all SARI cases were under 5 years of age, only 57% of influenza-positive cases were under 5 years of age. Eight (3%) influenza-positive cases died. An annual seasonal pattern of influenza activity was observed. The proportion of influenza-positive cases peaked during November-January (14-42%) in the non-pandemic years. Conclusions Influenza is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality in Jordan. The seasonal pattern of influenza aligns with known Northern Hemisphere seasonality. Further characterization of the clinical and financial burden of influenza in Jordan will be critical in supporting decisions regarding disease control activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We conducted an epidemiologic investigation among survivors of an outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection in Jordan. A second-trimester stillbirth occurred during the course of an acute respiratory illness that was attributed to MERS-CoV on the basis of exposure history and positive results of MERS-CoV serologic testing. This is the first occurrence of stillbirth during an infection with MERS-CoV and may have bearing upon the surveillance and management of pregnant women in settings of unexplained respiratory illness potentially due to MERS-CoV. Future prospective investigations of MERS-CoV should ascertain pregnancy status and obtain further pregnancy-related data, including biological specimens for confirmatory testing.
