Purpose: Drawing on the conservation of resources theory, this study aims to identify the mediating effects of depersonalization and resilience on the relationship between customer incivility and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). It further posits that these indirect effects vary depending on the caring climate and achievement orientation. Design/methodology/approach: A field survey among 622 service employees (Study 1) and a three-wave field survey of 315 service employees and their managers (Study 2) from various service organizations were conducted. Findings: This study confirms that depersonalization operates as a negative mediator in the relationship between customer incivility and OCB. Simultaneously, resilience emerges as a positive mediator, underscoring the contrasting pathways through which customer incivility affects OCB. Furthermore, a caring climate plays a pivotal role in mitigating the detrimental impact of depersonalization on OCB and weakening the positive impact of resilience on OCB. Additionally, this study identifies achievement orientation as a significant moderator between customer incivility and resilience. Originality/value: This study advances theoretical foundations by investigating depersonalization and resilience as critical mediators in the intricate relationship between customer incivility and OCB. It goes beyond the conventional understanding of customer incivility's impact by shedding light on the dual roles of a caring climate, demonstrating its potential to alleviate both positive and negative consequences of customer incivility. Moreover, its identification of achievement orientation as a moderator adds a novel dimension to the discourse, emphasizing the need for tailored strategies to harness employee resilience in the face of customer incivility. This study investigates the mediating effect of life satisfaction between parental involvement and academic achievement orientation in a sample of Chilean adolescents. Life satisfaction is conceptualised as a family resource that adolescents utilise to manage their school life. Two statistical models were adjusted using data from a subsample of 426 students in 9th to 11th grade, derived from the National Survey on Student Trajectories and Transitions in Chile. The first analysis examines the mediating role of life satisfaction between parental involvement, specifically of both father and mother and achievement orientation. The findings suggest that life satisfaction almost completely mediates the effect of paternal involvement on achievement orientation, while maternal involvement exerts a partial effect through life satisfaction. The second analysis assesses the moderating effect of the adolescent's gender on the relationship mediated by life satisfaction. The results show that gender moderates the mediation for maternal involvement, but not for paternal. This study highlights the importance of adolescents' life satisfaction as an essential mediator between family and school contexts, also emphasising the moderating effect that gender composition in relationships between parents and adolescents has on this mediation. GENDER inequality , *ACADEMIC achievement , *GENDER differences (Sociology) , *SCHOOLGIRLS , *CULTURE - Abstract
Although geographical and temporal variations in gender achievement gaps have received considerable attention, the role of culture in explaining this variation is not well understood. We exploit a large Swedish administrative data set to study gender gaps in education among second-generation immigrant youth with different cultural backgrounds. Guided by hypotheses we derive from the economics literature on gender differences and gender convergence, we explore the predictive power of a set of cultural dimensions including achievement orientation, acceptance of inequality, risk avoidance, and long-term orientation. Using a variety of empirical tests that refine the classical epidemiological approach, we find that the central cultural dimension that matters for gender gaps in student achievement is the extent to which a society emphasizes ambition, competition, and achievement, which is strongly predictive of a relative achievement disadvantage of girls compared with boys. Exploring factors that may explain the results, we find that parents from achievement-oriented cultures choose higher quality schools for their children, and that boys benefit more from exposure to higher quality schools than girls do. Using PISA data to probe external validity, we find qualitatively and quantitatively remarkably similar results in a very different sample of second-generation immigrant youth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study; is to examine the critical thinking dispositions and achievement goal orientations of university students in terms of various variables, and to determine the predictive level of students' critical thinking dispositions on their achievement goal orientations. The sample of the research consists of 785 (333 female, 452 male) university students studying at Sivas Cumhuriyet University in the spring semester of 2021-2022 academic year. The study group of the research was determined by the random sampling method, which is one of the screening methods. "California Critical Thinking Disposition Scale" and "Achievement Goal Orientations Scale" were used to obtain the research data. Descriptive and normality analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Tukey and multiple regression analysis were used to obtain the data. In the findings obtained, students' critical thinking dispositions were related to the variables of grade level, income status, and graduated school type; on the other hand, it was determined that achievement goal orientations differed statistically significantly according to the type of program studied, class level, income status, and type of school graduated. In addition, it was determined that the change in the sub-dimensions of the critical thinking dispositions scale explained the learning/approach goal orientation by 12.2%, the learning/avoidance goal orientation by 12.6%, the performance/approach goal orientation by about 10.6%, and the performance/avoidance goal orientation by about 15.2%. Learning adaptation patterns scale (PALS) have been used around the world to measure some students' aspects in learning development, in order to know what behaviors the students have in their academic performance. The instrument was created in United States, but it is necessary to validate it in other samples in order to measure students' performance. The objective of this study was to validate some scales of the instrument (PALS) in the Mexican population, since there is not validation of the PALS in Mexico's population. This article contains two main studies, an exploratory analysis and confirmatory analysis; it also includes a chi-square analysis between age and sex and a divergent validity analysis between the scales applied in this study. For the exploratory analysis, 380 elementary school children participated; for the confirmatory analysis, 100 elementary school children participated. The following scales were applied: Mastery goal orientation, performance-approach goal orientation, performance-avoid goal orientation, cheating behavior, disruptive behavior, dissonance between home and school, parent's mastery goals, parent's performance goals, and dissonance between school and home. The validation of six of the eight scales used in this study was concluded for the fourth, fifth and sixth-grade scholars in elementary schools in this sample. The distribution between the age and sex of participants were homogeneous. More research is necessary in Hispanic samples to validate more scales of the PALS, and to generalize the results to the Mexican population; there were some limitations in the study about the sample analysis. Those are presented in the discussion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONSCIENTIOUSNESS ,SELF-sacrifice ,JOB performance ,FIVE-factor model of personality ,PATIENT autonomy - Abstract
Based on the theory of purposeful work behavior, this study proposed that the two facets of employee conscientiousness, namely duty orientation and achievement orientation, have opposite effects on pro-social rule breaking (PSRB). We also explored the moderating effect of employees' task characteristic (job autonomy) and social characteristic (leader reward omission) on the above relationships. Using two-wave data collected from 216 employee-supervisor dyads, we found that duty orientation was positively related to PSRB, while achievement orientation was negatively related to PSRB. Further, job autonomy, by amplifying employees' perceived meaningfulness of their higher-order implicit goals, can strengthen the positive effect of duty orientation and the negative effect of achievement orientation on PSRB. Similarly, leader reward omission could also activate the negative effect of achievement orientation and PSRB, but not significantly moderate the positive relationship between duty orientation and PSRB. By separating the distinct role of facet-specific personality, our study sheds light on the relationship between employee conscientiousness and PSRB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Mentoring is related to young adults' career planning. The present study attempts to examine whether the perception of future work selves could be a critical mediating mechanism underlying the relationship between the reception of mentoring functions and job search behaviors. Moreover, we also investigated the moderating role of achievement orientation on this relationship. We tested our hypotheses with a time-lagged research design. Results indicated that psychosocial mentoring was related to future work selves, and future work selves were associated with job search behaviors. Future work selves mediated the relationship between psychosocial mentoring and job search behaviors. Moreover, achievement orientation moderated the direct and indirect effects of psychosocial function on job search behaviors. Specifically, the aforementioned relationships were stronger when achievement orientation was high compared to when achievement orientation was low. Important theoretical and practical implications for mentoring and career research are discussed in the current study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research investigated how and under what conditions thriving at work affects career attitudes and behaviors. Using an experimental design (n = 174), Study 1 found that the effects of thriving on career satisfaction, career commitment, and career engagement were mediated by career resilience. The positive effect of thriving on career resilience and the resilience‐mediated effects of thriving on career satisfaction, commitment, and engagement were stronger when achievement orientation was higher. Study 2 verified these findings with a survey of another sample of 296 employees. These studies offer important insights for human resource managers and career consultants or practitioners regarding what may enhance employees' career outcomes. Our findings imply that thriving‐enabling practices might be beneficial among highly achievement‐oriented employees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Children with gifts and talents benefit from participation in programs grounded in research-based models. Implementation fidelity, however, is a potential moderator of intended benefits. The purpose of this study was to examine one teacher's fidelity of implementation for Type III Enrichment, an evidence-based gifted education practice and component of Renzulli's Enrichment Triad Model and Renzulli and Reis's Schoolwide Enrichment Model. Findings indicated the gifted education teacher implemented Type III Enrichment with fidelity; she adhered to recommended structures and processes, which she skillfully implemented, and student participants were responsive and engaged in the learning process. Audience impact was adversely affected by duration of the one-semester program. In addition, findings indicated the teacher supplemented recommended processes and these supplemental activities influenced student engagement in positive ways. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Araştırma bulguları literatür ile benzeşen yönler gösterdiği gibi farklılaşan yönler de sergilemiştir., Aim: Nowadays educators are expected to be learners' companions and to guide directing learning successfully. Moreover, learners are expected to be individuals who can direct their own learning, be a stakeholder in their education, have a say in their own education, and understand their learning needs realistically. In this context, the features of learners such as orientation to academic success, motivation, and self-directed learning come to the fore. The driving force and starting point of this research is to determine students' motivational persistence levels, self-directed learning readiness levels and success orientations, and to examine the relationships between them. Methods This research is designed with descriptive method along with relational method. 780 students from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Medicine, from Term I to Term VI joined the study. The data were obtained with the "Motivational Determination", "2X2 Achievement Orientations" and "Readiness for Self-directed Learning" scales. In the analysis of the data, correlation analysis was used in addition to descriptive statistics. Results: Medical students were mostly goal-oriented while their performance orientation was relatively low. Medical students’ motivational stability level is moderate. Medical students’ self-directed learning readiness level is relatively high. Medical students’ success orientation, motivational stability and self-directed learning readiness are positively and significantly related to each other. Medical students’ approach learning, avoidance learning, performance avoidance, revision of the goals which have not been achieved, willingness to learn, and self-control differ according to the period they study. Medical students’ performance approach, pursuing long-term goals, pursuing current goals and self-direction did not differ according to the period they study. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that medical school students have a learning-oriented goal orientation rather than a performance goal orientation. In period VI, the level of motivational stability is lower than in other periods. Similarly, the highest self-directed learning readiness of students is in Term III and the lowest in Term VI. The characteristics that show a high level of positive correlation with the learning approach are willingness to learn and self-control. Performance approach is the trait that is highly positively correlated with learning avoidance achievement orientation. Performance avoidance achievement orientation and performance approach orientation show a high correlation. Characteristics that are highly positively associated with pursuing long-term goals are pursuing current goals, repeating unachieved goals, self-management, and a willingness to learn. Characteristics that are highly positively associated with pursuing current goals are repetition of unattained goals, self-management, willingness to learn, and self-control. Self-management and willingness to learn and self-control have a high positive relationship. The desire to learn and self-control are in a highly positive relationship. Research findings showed similarities with the literature as well as different aspects.

Objectives The current study contributes to the field's limited knowledge about the sociopolitical consequences of internalized Model Minority Myth (MMM) among Asian Americans. In particular, we examine how the MMM serves as a legitimizing ideology, in which the perpetuation of beliefs about society as fair ultimately maintain racial inequality. Methods Using path analysis with 251 Asian American college students, we tested a model linking internalized MMM (i.e., attitudes towards Asian Americans as achievement oriented and as having unrestricted mobility, compared to other racial minorities) to anti-Black attitudes and opposition to affirmative action for Black Americans. We examined direct effects of internalized MMM on such outcomes, as well as indirect effects through other legitimizing ideologies, including just world beliefs and racial colorblindness. Results Findings demonstrated that greater levels of internalized MMM among Asian American college students predicted greater anti-Black attitudes and opposition to affirmative action. Greater internalized MMM achievement orientation and unrestricted mobility also directly predicted greater just world beliefs and colorblindness. Results from our test of indirect effects showed that internalized MMM achievement orientation and unrestricted mobility both indirectly predicted opposition to affirmative action through colorblindness, and unrestricted mobility also indirectly predicted anti-Black attitudes through colorblindness. Also, achievement orientation and unrestricted mobility indirectly predicted anti-Black attitudes through just world beliefs. Conclusions Our findings have implications for research and practice that promotes awareness of and seeks to challenge the MMM, anti-Blackness, and beliefs about affirmative action among Asian Americans. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the achievement orientation of nursing and midwifery students and to examine some factors that may affect their achievement orientation. Material/Methods: The descriptive sample of this research was created by 209 first-year students voluntarily attending and studying in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences of a public university in Turkey. The data were collected with "Student Presentation Form" and "2x2 Achievement Orientation Scale". Mann Whitney-U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used with frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation in evaluating the data. Results: The students were found to have 3.39±0.54 in the learning-approach orientation sub-dimension, 3.27±0.75 in the learning-avoidance orientation sub-dimension, 2.73±0.76 in the performance-approach orientation sub-dimension and 2.74±0.74 points in the performance-avoidance orientation sub-dimension. A significant difference was found between the students' gender, their reasons for choosing a career, and the factors that led them to succeed and the mean of the learning-approach orientation score. On the other hand, there was no statistically significant difference between the achievement orientation of the students and the variables such as age, high school type they graduated, and department preference order. Conclusions: According to the results of the study, it was seen that nursing and midwifery students have predominantly learning-approach orientation. Moreover, it was determined that female students, who selected their profession because of their interest and who expressed that the factor motivate themselves for the achievement is themselves, had higher learning orientation. This study explores the importance of psychographic characteristics as potential segmentation bases in the higher education sector. In particular, we develop a taxonomy of university students based on their achievement orientation and prestige sensitivity. The study analyses the survey data obtained from 948 respondents using cluster analyses and multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA), indicating interesting findings. Three distinct clusters emerge, namely Strivers, Modest Achievers and Prestige-seeking Innovators. Findings reveal that Prestige-seeking Innovators have a more positive attitude towards the university, whereas Strivers have the strongest sense of regret over their decision to enrol at their current university and would seize the opportunity to enrol in a more prestigious university. The taxonomy is highly relevant to marketers of higher education institutions as it gives insights into potential bases for segmentation, positioning and communication strategies targeting the specific characteristics of each segment. TRANSFORMATIONAL leadership ,CORE competencies ,QUESTIONNAIRES ,TEAMS in the workplace ,PROJECT management - Abstract
The objective of this study is to explore which competencies predict leader effectiveness. Based on theory and job analysis, we observed the effects of five leaders' competencies (achievement orientation, problem analysis and problem solving, social sensitivity, influence, and integrity) on three indicators of effec tiveness (perceived leader's effectiveness, leadership emergenc e, and team performance). Furthermor e, we examined whether transformational leadership mediates these effects. We collected the data during an interuniversity student team competition. A total of 57 team leaders and 364 team members participated in the study. At the beginning of the competition, we measured the leaders' competencies through assessment centers. Each leader was assessed by 4 trained assessors in a one day long assessment center consisting of multiple individual and group model situations. After 6 months of teamwork, we measured the perceived leaders' effectiveness, leadership emergence and transformational leadership using questionnaires, and we estimated the teams' performance based on the ranking of the teams in the competition. The results show that leader achievement orientation is a significant predictor of perceived leader effectiveness, leadership emergence and team performance. The other four competencies do not predict leader effectiveness. There is no relation between competencies and transformational leadership; therefore, transformational leadership does not mediate the relation between competencies and effectiveness. The advantages of this study were that we obtained the data regarding the competencies and effectiveness from three different sources and that we measured competencies before the teamwork began. An average of more than 6 subordinates per leader ensures highly reliable evaluations of leaders' transformational leadership, perceived effectiveness and leadership emergence. The results can be applied to leader selection for short-term team projects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the motivations of social entrepreneurs in East Africa to create a social enterprise and their identified links to successful social entrepreneurship in East Africa.Design/methodology/approachThe authors employed a qualitative method by performing thematic analysis on a set of interviews on social entrepreneurs from East Africa who are Ashoka fellows.FindingsThe findings suggest that intense personal experiences linked to past-life events as well as a high achievement orientation towards improving livelihoods and creating impact serve as key triggers for social entrepreneurship. Successful entrepreneurship focusses on system change at national and local levels. Their success is also seen when the social entrepreneurs have achieved their mission and are no longer needed; thus, they become irrelevant. The paper discusses the implications of these findings on the model used for sustainable social entrepreneurship in East Africa.Practical implicationsBased on an exploratory research on Ashoka fellows, the study adds insight to their motivations and success which can be used in a wider scale study of the same.Originality/valueThe authors advance the scarce empirical research on East African social entrepreneurs, link success factors of social entrepreneurship to a recent framework on motivation to engage in social entrepreneurship and stimulate further research in the area. The study contributes to the literature on social entrepreneurship by linking success factors of social entrepreneurship to a recent framework on motivation to engage in social entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship has become very popular in the recent times and people are pursuing opportunities for new venture creation in different sectors. The phenomenon of “female entrepreneurship” is gaining wide popularity worldwide and now the interest of women in carrying out entrepreneurial activities is also increasing owing to the female empowerment in societies. The female entrepreneurs are highly affected by social, personality and institutional factors that motivate and encourage them in their entrepreneurial activities. The purpose of this study is to find out the impact of social support, financial support, entrepreneurial knowledge and achievement orientation on female entrepreneurial intention along with the mediating impact of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. For this purpose, the data was collected from 311 respondents from China and 311 from Pakistan through the administration of questionnaire. SPSS and AMOS were used for analysis and structural equation modelling has been used. The results have suggested that in case of China, all independent variables have significant impacts on female entrepreneurial intention but in case of Pakistan, financial support does not have the significant impact on female entrepreneurial intention. On the other hand, in case of China, the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy is significant in all cases, but in case of Pakistan, this mediating role is not significant in case of entrepreneurial knowledge.

Researchers have yet to precisely test the Socioanalytic proposition that social skill moderates the personality identity–personality reputation relationship. Further, although research has found personality to have both explicit and implicit aspects, scholars have not examined these differences with respect to the Socioanalytic perspective on personality. The present study investigates how explicit and implicit achievement orientation identities relate to one’s reputation for that trait in the workplace and to career success, as measured by occupational status. We propose that explicit and implicit achievement orientation, political skill and their interplay positively relate to reputation of achievement orientation at work, which, in turn, is positively related to occupational status. We found that (1) both explicit and implicit achievement orientation were positively associated with its reputation, as rated by co-workers; (2) reputation mediated both relations between implicit/explicit achievement orientation and occupational status and (3) heightened political skill strengthened the relationship between explicit achievement orientation and its reputation, as well as its indirect effect on occupational status via reputation (first stage moderated mediation). Our research provides a potential explanation for why observer ratings of personality are more strongly associated with outcomes than self-ratings: Observers perceive both implicit and explicit personality behaviours. GOAL (Psychology) , *ACHIEVEMENT , *ATHLETES , *SPORTS , *COMMITMENT (Psychology) - Abstract
There are several reasons for a person to start and persist in sports, to explain this phenomenon one of the most used models is sport commitment that in different investigations has proven its cross-cultural validity and is related to various constructs, including achievement motivation. Within this theory of motivation, we find the goal orientation, which has been conceptualized as the mental structure through which individuals interpret and respond to goal situations, and can change the perception of contextual sports variables and influence decision of starting or staying in a sport. The objective of this study was to compare a sample of Mexican and Spanish athletes regarding the dimensions of achievement orientation and the variables of the sports commitment model. The results showed significant differences only in mastery dimension, but the models of structural equations show major differences in their distribution and in the variables that influence the commitment. Cultural differences were found in how athletes respond to goal situations and how this may affect their decision to stay or leave the sport, with Spaniards showing a better fit with the original model of sports commitment. Grounded in the Enrichment Triad and Achievement Orientation Models, this qualitative case study builds understanding of the relationship between participation in Type III Enrichment and the achievement orientation attitude of goal valuation in gifted secondary school students. Participants included 10 gifted secondary school students, their parents, and their classroom teacher. Data included student, parent, and teacher responses in semistructured interviews, short-answer surveys, and student work. Findings indicate a relationship between participation in enrichment and goal valuation. Students engaged in Type III Enrichment perceived their projects as interesting, beneficial, and/or as related to perceptions of identity. In addition, factors of goal valuation were related to students’ continued interest and perceptions of enjoyment after completion of the enrichment projects. These findings have implications for structuring gifted education programs that meet the special needs of gifted secondary school learners. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

IGNITE, a high school-based programme, was developed for high ability underachievers using the Achievement Orientation Model (AOM), Maker Model, and Bibliotherapy in a mainstream setting. This paper reports on the effects discovered while implementing the programme over the course of 2 years. Year 7 (13 year olds) and Year 9 (15 year olds) students were trained to use the two interventions, incorporating one of these interventions to challenge their learning in the classroom. The programme for each cohort lasted approximately 10 weeks. Identification alone appeared to increase academic self-efficacy for many of these underachievers. Students were empowered by the student agency involved which supports many of the AOM’s assertions, in particular, environmental perceptions and goal valuation. The interventions, Maker Model and Bibliotherapy, should be used concurrently to produce self-directed students and reduce underachievement in high ability students as they appear to target different factors in the Achievement Orientation Model.

Mentoring is related to young adults’ career planning.

This paper aimed to gauge the MUET students’ report-writing dispositions and achievement orientation as well as examine the influence of selected demographic variables on these two variables. The research was conducted on two groups of MUET students (79 students) in a government secondary school in Kuching. The findings indicated that the multi-item writing disposition and achievement orientation were reliable. These two variables were having a weak association. The report-writing dispositions of the surveyed MUET students were generally low, but their achievement orientations were satisfactory. The demographic variables had significant influences on their report-writing disposition, but not their achievement orientations. Purpose This study aims to identify the competencies of small- and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) entrepreneurs in the software sector and the perceived level of attainment in each competency. It also examines whether these competencies and their levels affect business turnover and growth (in terms of business scale and duration). Design/methodology/approach To accomplish this purpose, the study took a quantitative approach, involving a survey of 33 SME entrepreneurs, which was then processed using statistical tests, including chi-square test, Kruskal–Wallis test and ordinal regression. Findings There were four findings of the study. Firstly, software SME entrepreneurs need 17 competencies, with high levels of soft competencies being required and average levels of technical competencies. Secondly, there are significant differences in perceived levels of customer service orientation (p = 0.089) depending on the scale of the business and in perceived levels of project management (p = 0.087) depending on the duration of the business. Thirdly, customer service orientation (p = 0.031) and project management (p = 0.01) both have a significant influence on business revenues. Fourthly, there were significant gaps in perceived levels of competency (p < 0.05) in achievement orientation, customer service orientation and project management. Originality/value There is existing research that conducts competency mappings at the managerial level in large-scale organizations; however, this sort of research in relation to SME entrepreneurs is still lacking. The present study seeks to fill this gap. It also maps integrated entrepreneurial competencies, including soft and technical competencies; a focus that is lacking in previous studies.

This article examines historical context shaping the achievement gap while considering school choice. Students in low performing districts are often labeled as unmotivated or not achievement oriented. These assertions are upheld by citing attendance rates, graduation rates, and achievement data. This research article demonstrates that a sample of students in a low performing district has similarly aligned attitudes and self-reported behaviors related to achievement and success as a neighboring affluent district. Differences appear when students reflect upon safety and resources. This article demonstrates that public education works when the right resources are in place; so why push minorities out of their neighborhood schools toward charters and magnets rather than bolster and make equitable the existing system?

Purpose of the study: Human resources are the main factor of competitive advantage in an organization, so the quality of employees becomes essential. This study aims to identify distinctive competencies for managerial and non-managerial levels in the fashion industry. Different job level needs a different level of skills and it shows the variation in training needs. Methodology: This research was done using qualitative studies with structured literature review and semi-structured interviews with managers as a preliminary stage. The primary research was done through a survey method using questionnaires distributed to 200 employees in a fashion company. Result: The result shows that there were nine different competencies needed by managerial and non-managerial level, namely (1) Achievement orientation, (2) Concern for order, (3) Information seeking, (4) Relationship building, (5) Developing others, (6) Teamwork, (7) Team leadership, (8) Analytical thinking, and (9) Sense of humor. Besides, it was found that both positions need Entrepreneurial thinking and Innovation management competencies at a similar level of importance. This similarity shows that all levels of employees must own the intrapreneurship spirit in the company because the product and business innovation can come from all employees. Applications of this study: Differences in competency requirements at managerial and non-managerial levels will have an impact on variations in the needs pf employee training and development. For example, in achievement orientation competency, training for the managerial level is directed not only to meet targets but to the possibility of creating new business opportunities. Novelty/Originality of this study: The result of the literature study shows that many previous studies have identified competency models in the creative industries. Still, only a few have identified in detail the differences in intrapreneur competency needs at managerial and non-managerial levels.

Physical attractiveness is increasingly framed as a meritocratic good that involves individual benefits, such as higher wages or success in the partner market. Investing in one’s physical appearance is thereby seen as a means to increase one’s human capital. While the positive effects are well documented, its counterpart, the dark side of physical appearance, has received much less attention from social science research. This article sheds light on the negative effects of physical appearance using a theoretical framework based on the cultural sociology of Bourdieu, integrating both structure and agency perspectives. Using data from the German General Social Survey (ALLBUS) from 2014, we demonstrate that unattractiveness is socially stratified by economic, cultural, and social capital. The article highlights the relevance of cultural factors (e.g. forms of cultural capital and cultural practices) for the analysis of the interplay between physical appearance and stratification as well as the relevance of physical appearance for cultural sociology.
