This article analyzes period poverty based on interviews with six girls living in a region on the outskirts of the city of Porto Alegre (Brazil). The results of the qualitative study reveal some realities that are behind the numbers. The lack of information about menstrual health, menstrual cycles, and the limited self-awareness about the body became evident. All the interviewed adolescents who sought health services due to any menstrual or body-related issues during puberty received a racist, sexist, or ageist treatment or a combination of these prejudices. Their accounts regarding access to menstrual hygiene products and sanitation infrastructure do not fully correspond to the data on period poverty: the girls have access to disposable sanitary pads during menstruation, clean water, and bathrooms in usable conditions. The stories told by the teenagers expand the discussion about period poverty as they highlight cultural factors related to their menstrual experiences. Their accounts also show that initiatives and public policies to combat menstrual precariousness cannot be limited to the material field and point to the need for systemic cultural changes to combat racism, sexism, and ageism.

- Abstract
Violence against women and girls constitutes a serious public health issue in Brazil and worldwide. Studies suggest that genderrelated attitudes and beliefs endorsing violence among adolescents may contribute to the perpetuation of this phenomenon. The Attitudes Towards Gender and Violence Questionnaire, originally developed in Spain, was designed to investigate these constructs in adolescents. This study aimed to adapt the questionnaire for the Brazilian context by examining its psychometric properties, including construct validity through exploratory and confirmatory analyses, and assessing its associations with ambivalent sexism. The research was conducted with 550 adolescents, with a mean age of 17 years (SD=1 year). The Brazilian version of the questionnaire demonstrated a unifactorial structure, with a Cronbach's alpha of .95, an omega value of .88, and composite reliability of .96. External validity evidence revealed moderate to strong positive relationships between the instrument and the dimensions of hostile and benevolent sexism. In conclusion, the instrument is deemed suitable for use in the Brazilian context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We are presenting the adaptation and validation of a Positive Psychological Functioning scale in Spanish adolescents in a sample of 1,858 (M = 14.50 years, SD = 2.87 years), previously developed for adults (Merino & Privado, 2015b). The adaptation presents a hierarchical structure of one general factor and 11 of first order that suitably explain the data (GFI = 0.966, NFI = 0.966, SRMR = 0.053). The reliability (internal consistency and test-retest) is adequate. Evidence of convergent and discriminant validity of the test was found with other measures of subjective well-being, psychological well-being, positive and negative affect, and personality. The test has predictive validity on clinical symptoms (R2 = 0.17) and there are no differences in the measure based on sex and the period of adolescence considered (early, middle and late). Finally, scales for the sample evaluated are provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Expressed emotion is a construct that has so far been studied in a clinical population, although this work proposes its study in adolescent population without psychopathology. It has three aims: 1) To analyse the psychometric characteristics of the Level of Expressed Emotion Scale in the relationship of the Spanish adolescents with their father and their mother, considering different response format (dichotomic and polytomic); (2) To develop a short version of the scale; (3) To study the validity of the instrument as a measure of emotional climate of normative families. Participants were 827 adolescents from 12 to 17 years old. Data analysis included exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. Results suggested a 4-factor structure in the short version composed by 16 items, with adequate psychometric properties. This is presented as an innovative and appropriate tool for the assessment of the emotional family climate, both for researchers and clinicians. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The lack of adequate educommunicative training often results in the problematic use of ICT by adolescents, leading to various issues such as anxiety, depression, isolation, and the deterioration of intra- and interpersonal relationships, language impoverishment, and even aggression. In relation to the latter, the significant increase in child-to-parent violence in recent years is noteworthy, emerging as a concerning problem in multiple countries. Therefore, this study conducts a systematic review based on the PRISMA method to identify the most suitable instruments for assessing potential inappropriate use of ICT in adolescents and the child-to-parent violence stemming from it. The databases employed include Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest, WorldCat, PubMed, PubPsych, and Dialnet, yielding a total of 224 instruments. Of these, fifteen scales were analyzed based on their characteristics and psychometric properties. After applying exclusion criteria, the ERA-RSI scale, the UPNT Questionnaire, and the CPV-Q-P were chosen. The complementarity of these three instruments allows for an exploration of the issue’s current state and provides a holistic perspective that facilitates the design of appropriate educommunicative training benefiting all stakeholders and establishes measures to prevent both the inappropriate use of ICT and manifestations of child-to-parent violence arising from it. GENDER-based violence , *SCHOOL violence , *GENDER role , *SECONDARY school students , *RUMOR - Abstract
Virtual spaces, where adolescents coexist, become new channels to reproduce or question the inequality and violence of gender roles. Among the different forms that digital gender violence takes, this article analyzes the dissemination of teasing, rumours and intimate photos by students in secondary schools in Argentina. For this purpose, 18 discussion meetings were held in which 199 students between 12 and 19 years old participated confidentially, anonymously and voluntarily. The results indicate that students experience violence as part of their daily digital life and in relation to their face-to-face experiences. Technologies offer new ways of disseminating intimacy, such as the creation of anonymous accounts, stickers and memes. The creation of anonymous accounts is another widely used strategy among this population group. Girls are the ones who suffer more situations and with greater consequences. Age is a factor that influences experiences, themes and attitudes towards violence, which are generally passive. In conclusion, it is highlighted that, although its normalization is accepted, certain practices are questioned, such as the viralization of intimate images, which reveals the importance of generating spaces for listening and reflection to prevent gender violence in adolescence. The aim of this article is to put forward suggestions for educating the virtue of humility in adolescence. We analyze the proposal of June Tangney, who distinguishes six traits that we have grouped into the inner dimension, related to self-knowledge, and the outer dimension referring to the relationship with others and with the universe. These six elements are analyzed in a different order for educational intervention in the classroom. The educational strategies outlined can serve as a reference to facilitate the acquisition of humility, which implies the improvement of interpersonal relationships and self-knowledge. It plays an essential role in adolescence, due to the important biological, social and psychological changes that occur at this stage, and is a determining factor in the academic environment. In order to have appropriate instruments for its assessment, the aim of the study was to analyse the measurement properties and adapt the short version of the Self-Description Questionnaire II (SDQ-II-S) in Spanish adolescent. A sample of 726 secondary school students aged between 12 and 18 years (M= 15.44, SD= 1.41) participated. Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability and invariance analysis were conducted. The different analyses confirmed the multidimensional structure of the questionnaire, with adequate factor loadings, satisfactory goodness-of-fit indices, convergent validity, and corroborated gender invariance. Composite reliability of the dimensions ranged from .70 to .92. In conclusion, the SDQ-II-S is an instrument with appropriate characteristics, valid and reliable for the assessment of self-concept in Spanish students in adolescence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Adolescents' use of social networks has increased exponentially. Therefore, considerable interest in studying the motives for using social network sites (SNS) and the relationships between these motives and problematic SNS use (PSNU) in adolescents has arisen. This study aimed to examine the relationships between adolescents' motives for SNS use, frequency of use, numbers of SNS used and PSNU. A total of 1,775 students (50.4% female) aged 11–19 (mean age = 14.11) completed the Scale of Motives for Using Social Networking Sites and the Problematic Social Networking Site Use Scale. The results show that the primary motives for SNS use were entertainment, information-seeking and academic purposes. Significant correlations were found between motives for use and PSNU dimensions except for preference for interaction through SNS and academic purposes. Four user profiles were established based on the motivations for use: discreet users, leisure users, socializing users and hyperconnected users. Those in this last profile scored significantly higher on PSNU, and therefore, identifying adolescents fitting this profile is going to be key to taking appropriate preventive actions. Introduction: Healthcare advances have allowed an increase in the survival of paediatric patients with neurological diseases. As a result, it is increasingly common to find these patients in adult neurology consultations. The aim of this study is to evaluate the current level of consensus on the transition of neuropaediatric patients among neurology and paediatric professionals in the Balearic Islands. Material and methods: We conducted an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study through an anonymous questionnaire consisting of 27 questions, which was distributed to neurologists, paediatric neurologists, hospital paediatricians, and primary care paediatricians in the healthcare network of the Balearic Islands. It was developed using Google Forms and distributed by the competent professional societies. Consensus was considered to exist for answers with 70% or more agreement. Results: Responses were received from 58 professionals; 46.6% were hospital paediatricians, 29.9% were neurologists, 13.8% were paediatric neurologists, and 13.8% were primary care paediatricians. Among other issues, consensus was observed on the need for a transition programme for patients with neurological diseases. No consensus was observed regarding the duration of the transition (P=.029) and how long simultaneous follow-up must last after the transfer (P=.09). Conclusions: Due to increased survival rates, there is a need to create transition programmes for paediatric patients with neurological diseases. In our study, more than 70% of professionals believed that it would be beneficial to create such programmes.

How many times do we fall in love? Is there only one love and that is that of adolescence because it has the intensity of the first time? Does a love last a lifetime? These are the questions that Sergio Bizzio throws up when he tells the story of a teenage love triangle between Lisa, Bruno and Lalo in a summer in Ramallo. The hypothesis I would follow is that each of the three characters of the nouvelle figures an idea of love and that the triangle provides a theoretical approach to the love affair. Friendship, violence, reciprocity, asymmetry, falling in love, couple are some of the notions common to an ambiguous territory as a way of narrating love.

OR Physical exercise OR Sport) AND (Adolesc* OR Children) AND (Female OR Gender OR Girl OR Wom*) AND (Barrier* OR Facilitator*).
