Pundits are predicting that American Broadcasting Cos. (ABC) will dominate the 1994 fall season among television networks. It has the highest number of returning hit programs that have the potential of further increasing their ratings this year. Moreover, all the new half-hour shows of the network are supported by an established program. Special programming events, such as the Stephen King miniseries, are also expected to boost the standing of ABC. Finally, ABC is betting on sports events, including the World Series, if it will push through, and the Super Bowl, to help it clinch the highest rating for the season. The top network of the 1993-1994 season, CBS Inc., is predicted to have a weaker position as a result of lost all-star sports programming and younger programming. On the other hand, Fox Broadcasting Co. is forecasted to gain some edge after it won the rights to cover the National Football Conference games.
