The aim of the research was to record body thermoregulation in piglet function of glycaemia, quantified by body weight at weaning. In order to a quick body thermoregulation of piglets after parturition Mistral and Mistral + Dexamethasone products were used. After their use a quicker dry is recorded in piglets (1 – 2 minutes), a slighter decrease in the body temperature, a smaller energy consumption, needed in thermoregulation, correlated to a higher glycaemia and stronger outlets, capable of colostrum consumption, and as a result, higher body mass at weaning.

In this work paper are presented and done the analysis of the main phenotypic traits values in bovines of Bruna breed, in Maramures county, established basing on data from evidences belonging to Animal Husbandry Amelioration and Reproduction Offices in Maramures county, after data bank of ANARZ and after primary evidences from every selection center. Researches were done on a total live stock of 2632 cows, Bruna breed, bred in Maramures county. Main productive traits were established in dynamic on 6 lactations, having in view milk quantitative and qualitative production during normal and total lactations, but also reproduction index. Researches done regarding main productive traits have led to Bruna breed bovine characterization per total population, in Maramures county. The analysis of milk production index and variability on successive lactations shows us that the population taken in study is characterized by favorable productive traits such as milk quantitative production report as also on qualitative production. Concerning reproduction index researches done in farms from Maramures county localities have put in evidence the fact that average values of reproduction index (age of first parturition, mammary repose, calving interval and service period) certify an adequate state of reproduction function.

The quantitative and qualitative mycological assements in roughages and silo feeds display a tight corelation betwen the organoleptic characteres and the number of fungi per gram of feed, thus, Lays and high quality silage, or medium quality silage, contain below 8x10 5 fungi/g feed in contrast with the inferior ones in wich the mycotic load7g, feed excudes several times, the above mentioned value. The ubiguitous presence of Aspergillus, penicillium, mucor, Stachybotzra and fusarium in hays and silage stands Witress for their pathogenic potentiality.In order to prevent the spead of mycoses and mycotoxicoses, several precaution measures are to be taken; thus it is recommmendable that low quality folder with strong organoleptic alteration, with over 8x10 5 fungi/g feed be ousted from the nutrition of pregnant females, in lactation or young nuffering from chromic diseases. These feeds are to be administread restrictively and in mixture with good quality feed, for the other categories of animals.

In Romanian high schools, Information and Communications Technology is a required subject. The field of study in high school will determine the curriculum, which might be theoretical (science or humanities), technical, vocational, or services and economics. Our goal was to examine how first-year students perceived their pre-university education-based knowledge and abilities in computer literacy. We created an original, anonymous, online questionnaire regarding the students' perception of general computer use skills, Internet browsing, online information search skills, digital communication skills, and the use of programs from the Microsoft Office package. Eligible participants were first-year students (academic year 2022-2023) in the Romanian section at the Faculty of Medicine, Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca. All eligible participants were invited to self-evaluate their computer literacy skills. Two hundred and twenty-one students participated. About 88.69% of respondents declared that they have good skills in general computer use, but only 57.47% understand basic computer terminology at an . Analyzing the statements about skills at the beginner-up-to-expert level: 95.93% have knowledge about using the Internet, 98.19% can use the keyboard well, 97.29% know how to use an e-mail, and 87.33% consider themselves suitable for computer-assisted training. The participants self-assessed their proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with the majority (97.74%) considering themselves beginner-up-to-expert level users in Word or PowerPoint. However, their proficiency in Excel was slightly lower, with only 89.59% claiming beginner-up-to-expert level. About half of the respondents understood basic computer terminology, even though most respondents said they had general computer skills. While most respondents have average-expert-level knowledge of PowerPoint, only about half are proficient in Excel.

Abstract Objectives Microleakage in direct dental restorations is a primary causal factor in the restoration's failure. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the technique for occlusal layering of the composite resin (the use of brush adaptation, the use of magnification, cusp build‐up, stamp technique) has any effect on microleakage of direct restorations in occlusal cavities. Materials and Methods One hundred extracted human molars were restored using five restoration techniques (Packable Bulk technique, Occlusal Stamp technique, Successive Cusp Build‐up technique, Successive Cusp Build‐up technique + Brush adaptation, Successive Cusp Build‐up technique + brush adaptation + Dental Operative Microscope magnification). The teeth were subjected to thermal aging for 800 cycles at 5°C and 55°C, infiltrated with basic fuchsin dye for 24 h, and then sectioned buccolingually in the middle of the crown. Infiltration was measured in four areas of the tooth section by five different observers and then given a score from 1 to 3, proportional to infiltration depth. Results The lowest mean scores for infiltration (meaning less infiltration observed) were present in Group A (1.41 ± 0.878) and Group C (1.46 ± 0.679), while Group D showed the highest infiltration scores (1.75 ± 0.853). Altmetrics are new bibliometric methods with increasing popularity, meant to reveal the impact and public attention for scientific research. In addition to the traditional bibliometric scores (such as article citation counts, h-index, or journal impact factor), any research paper published online can have algorithm-generated Altmetric scores linked to a digital identifier (for example, DOI-Digital Object Identifier). In this article, we have analyzed five papers withdrawn from publication: 4 papers with the highest citation scores until December 2020 according to the Retractionwatch.com database and one COVID-19-related paper with the highest Altmetric score. By contrasting traditional bibliometrics according to the Web of Science database (like article citation counts before and after retraction) with Altmetric details (like Attention score, Mendeley mentions, Twitter mentions, News outlets) we have shown that the highest citation scores for bibliometrics were not reflected in Altmetric scores and vice-a-versa. We observed that all the cases of retracted papers with the highest citation counts came from the top 25% most appreciated scientific journals. Moreover, these articles attracted citations even long after retraction from publication, and if these articles were to be selected for the creation and application of secondary scientific literature, we fear it could lead to inaccurate results. The Attention score, also known as the Altmetric score, is meant to complement traditional bibliometrics and produce a more complex evaluation for scientific work (a scientific assessment and a social interest/ impact assessment).

Understanding biochemical mechanisms involved in acute myocardial infarction is crucial for future treatments. The current study analyzed the oxidative stress markers in patients with percutaneously treated acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction and correlated the findings to coronary anatomy and Syntax II score (SS-II). Blood samples were obtained before coronary re-perfusion, after one and 24 hours. The following markers of oxidative stress were determined: malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione to oxidized glutathione ratio (GSH/GSSG) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC). Thirty-seven consecutive patients were included. The patients were divided into groups according to the infarct-related artery: left anterior descending artery (LADgroup) vs non-LAD group, and according to the calculated SS-II, SS-II≤ 34 vs. SS-II>34. MDA concentration and GSH/GSSG ratio showed non-significant differences between LAD vs non-LAD groups at all time frames. Patients with LAD as the infarct-related artery had a significantly lower TAC 24 hours after re-perfusion: 30.22 ± 9.78 % inhibition in the LAD group vs. 35.7 ± 5.78 % inhibition in the non-LAD group, p=0.013. The oxidative stress markers were similar between patients regardless of the SS-II value, and neither the culprit vessel nor the SS-II significantly influenced the dynamics of oxidative stress markers. Attitudes towards Romglish in Online Discourse. As English has become a global language, it has also become the language of computer-mediated communication. The online medium has offered the ideal space for English to enter in contact with multiple other languages and, as a result, to contribute to the formation of new varieties. In Romania, this new variety is Romgleză or Romglish, a combination of Romanian and English that is used especially by, but not limited to the younger generations. However, language change does not come easy and, although it has been around for quite a while, Romglish is still considered as improper by some. The present paper analyses two sets of online comments in order to identify attitudes towards Romglish and the language ideologies behind them. To this end, monoglossic ideologies, such as the standard language ideology (Milroy 2001) and the purist ideology (Langer & Davies 2005) will be taken as references when analysing the online comments. The data focuses mainly on two online sources: the Știrile Kanal D Facebook page and an Elforum thread, and it shows that rather than singular and static, language ideologies are multiple and rather fluid, with many online users displaying both monoglossic and heteroglossic ideologies. În România, această nouă varietate este romgleza sau Romglish, o combinație între română și engleză care este folosită mai ales de către tânăra generație, dar nu numai. Schimbarea însă nu este ușoară și, deși există de ceva vreme, romgleza este considerată încă nepotrivită de către unele persoane. Prezenta lucrare analizează două seturi de comentarii online pentru a identifica atitudini față de romgleză și ideologiile lingvistice care le influențează. În acest scop, ideologii monoglose, precum ideologia limbii standard (Milroy 2001) și ideologia puristă (Langer & Davies 2005) vor fi luate în considerare. The article endeavors to introduce the constitutional and statutory framework for arbitration in Romania, whilst discussing the dilemmatic legislative provisions allowing for public entities to become parties in an arbitration dispute. It includes a discussion of the concept of administrative contracts in Romania and a chronological analysis of the evolution of public-private arbitration under administrative contracts. Some of the landmark Romanian public-private arbitrations under international investment treaties have held the public agenda in recent years and they shape the public debate on arbitration as fit for purpose when it comes to public contracts.

Some studies have reported that chronic respiratory illnesses in patients with COVID-19 result in an increase in hospitalization and death rates, while other studies reported to the contrary. The present research aims to determine if a predictive model (developed by combing different clinical, imaging, or blood markers) could be established for patients with both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and COVID-19, in order to be able to foresee the outcomes of these patients. A prospective observational cohort of 165 patients with both diseases was analyzed in terms of clinical characteristics, blood tests, and chest computed tomography results. The beta-coefficients from the logistic regression were used to create a score based on the significant identified markers for poor outcomes (transfers to an intensive care unit (ICU) for mechanical ventilation, or death). The severity of COVID-19, renal failure, diabetes, smoking status (current or previous), the requirement for oxygen therapy upon admission, high lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and C-reactive protein level (CRP readings), and low eosinophil and lymphocyte counts were all identified as being indicators of a poor prognosis. Higher mortality was linked to the occurrence of renal failure, the number of affected lobes, the need for oxygen therapy upon hospital admission, high LDH, and low lymphocyte levels. Patients had an 86.4% chance of dying if their mortality scores were −2.80 or lower, based on the predictive model. The factors that were linked to a poor prognosis in patients who had both COPD and COVID-19 were the same as those that were linked to a poor prognosis in patients who had only COVID-19.

Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy of three types of electronic apex locators (EALs) when two different concentrations of NaOCl irrigation solutions are used by two operators. Materials and Methods: After creating the access cavities for 20 single rooted extracted teeth, the actual canal length (ACL) of each canal was determined visually using a #10 file and magnification. The teeth were subsequently inserted in plastic molds filled with alginate. The electronic measurement of root canal length (EWL) was performed using three different electronic apex locators: Root ZX II, Apex ID, and Dual Pex. Two independent operators, an endodontic specialist with 20 years practice and an undergraduate student in the final year of study, performed the irrigation procedures with two different concentrations of NaOCl (2% and 5.25%), and then measured the EWL using each of the EALs. The accuracy of all EALs, was determined in each case by subtracting the EWL from the ACL. Statistical analyses were performed using one-way ANOVA test. Results: In the presence of 2% NaOCl solution, for a margin error of ±0.5 mm, Root ZX II, Apex ID, and Dual Pex presented an accuracy of 90%, 80%, and 85% respectively. The increase in the concentration of the irrigation solution affected the accuracy of Root ZX II and Apex ID for both operators, diminishing it to 75% for the same margin error, but improved Dual Pex’s accuracy to 100%. Conclusions: The best accuracy in working length determination was obtained by Root ZX II for 2% NaOCl solution and by Dual Pex for 5.25% NaOCl solution with no significant statistical difference when compared.

Additive manufacturing or 3D printing technologies might advance the fabrication sector of personalised biomaterials with high-tech precision. The selection of optimal precursor materials is considered the first key-step for the development of new printable filaments destined for the fabrication of products with diverse orthopaedic/dental applications. The selection route of precursor materials proposed in this study targeted two categories of materials: prime materials, for the polymeric matrix (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polylactic acid (PLA)); and reinforcement materials (natural hydroxyapatite (HA) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) of different dimensions). HA was isolated from bovine bones (HA particles size < 40 μm, 125 μm) through a reproducible synthesis technology. The structural (FTIR-ATR, Raman spectroscopy), morphological (SEM), and, most importantly, in vitro (indirect and direct contact studies) features of all precursor materials were comparatively evaluated. The polymeric materials were also prepared in the form of thin plates, for an advanced cell viability assessment (direct contact studies). The overall results confirmed once again the reproducibility of the HA synthesis method. Moreover, the biological cytotoxicity assays established the safe selection of PLA as a future polymeric matrix, with GNP of grade M as a reinforcement and HA as a bioceramic. Therefore, the obtained results pinpointed these materials as optimal for future composite filament synthesis and the 3D printing of implantable structures.

Bovine mastitis is an inflammatory disease of the udder that causes important economic losses in the animal breeding and dairy product industries. Nowadays, the conventional livestock antibiotic treatments are slowly being replaced by alternative treatments. In this context, the main aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of natural products in alternative treatment of bovine mastitis.

Objective Controversial, heterogeneous, and inconsistent responses to beta-blockers have been reported in some cases of infantile proliferative hemangiomas. On the basis of these clinical observations, we aimed to examine the β1 adrenergic receptor (β1-AR) protein expression distribution among different types of pediatric vascular anomalies. Methods Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed for β1-AR on 43 surgical specimens. Results We found positive β1-AR IHC staining in all intramuscular hemangiomas, capillary–lymphatic, lymphatic, venous, and combined malformations, and Masson’s tumor cases, as well as in 7 of 10 cases of proliferative infantile hemangiomas. Conclusions Our research demonstrates, for the first time, the degree of heterogeneous expression of β1-AR among pediatric vascular malformations. Our results support the need for β1-AR assessment in pediatric vascular anomalies to select cases with a robust response to β1-selective blockers. β1-AR assessment may have a strong impact on therapeutic refinement for pediatric vascular anomalies by selecting cases with a stronger response to beta-blockers.

This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial effect of three final irrigation protocols and to compare their ability to remove the smear layer and debris from the root canal. Methods: Sixty-three single-rooted human teeth were inoculated with Enterococcus faecalis for 14 days. The teeth were divided into a positive control group (N = 3) and three treatment groups (N = 20) as follows: final irrigation with saline solution (control group), irrigation with 5.25% NaOCl ultrasonically activated with EndoUltra (EU), standard needle irrigation with Qmix 2in1 (Qx) and irrigation with 5.25% NaOCl activated using SiroLaser Blue (SB). The bacterial load was evaluated by analyzing the colony-forming units (CFU/mL). Selected specimens were split longitudinally and examined using scanning electron microscopy in order to determine the presence of a smear layer and debris. Statistical analyses were performed using one-way ANOVA and the Kruskal–Wallis rank-sum test. Results: Activation of NaOCl with EndoUltra or SiroLaser Blue was superior at reducing intracanal bacteria relative to standard needle irrigation with Qmix 2in1 solution (p < 0.05). Even though SiroLaser Blue showed the best results for removing the smear layer and debris, no significant differences were detected between the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Final irrigation with 5.25% NaOCl ultrasonically activated using EndoUltra or SiroLaser Blue demonstrated a higher efficacy in bacterial reduction than standard needle irrigation with Qmix 2in1.
