The aim of this study is to reveal the bibliometric profile of articles published in the field of science education and technology. In the study, in which descriptive research model was used, bibliometric analysis method was preferred in order to reveal and examine the research trends of scientific publications on science education and technology. In the study, Web of Science Core Collection was preferred as the database and VOSviewer program was preferred as the bibliometric network analysis program. In the Web of Science Core Collection database, 2485 articles were accessed after searching with the keywords "science educat*" and "technology*". As a result of the research, it was determined that the first article in the relevant subject area was published in 1980 and the most articles were published in 2022. The country with the highest number of publications in the related field is the USA. The researcher who published the most in the related field is Franz Xaver Bogner. The most publications were published in the Journal of Science Education. Most frequently used keyword in the related articles is science education. The study is important in terms of revealing the research trend of science education and technology articles.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of a distance professional development course, within the framework of the Preschool Situational Self-Regulation Program (PRSIST), on the knowledge, beliefs, and skills of early childhood education teachers about self-regulation skills. One of the qualitative methods, the case study, was preferred for the current study. The research was conducted with 5 early childhood education teachers, working in a city in middle Anatolia, Turkey. The teachers attended the synchronous distance professional development course 1 day a week for 5 weeks. The total duration of the five sessions was 120 minutes. Interview forms, reflective journals, and documents were used as data collection tools. As a result of the research, it was found that the course had positive impact on teachers' knowledge, skills, and beliefs about self-regulation skills.

Abstract This research explores the advanced application of nano-silica (nS) in concrete, emphasizing its significant role in improving the mechanical strength and longevity of concrete structures. Unlike prior studies on nS in concrete, this work goes beyond evaluating typical performance metrics such as compressive strength, water absorption, air permeability, and drying shrinkage, by also examining the effect on production costs. The study involved detailed experimental procedures, where concrete mixtures were prepared with varying water-to-binder (w/b) ratios of 0.33, 0.45, and 0.55, and nS contents of 0, 1, 3, and 5 percent by binder weight. The results indicate that a 3% nS admixture significantly boosts compressive strength and reduces both water and gas permeability, although it also leads to an increase in drying shrinkage. Furthermore, the cost analysis shows that even a small 1% addition of nS can raise production costs, underscoring the importance of balancing cost-effectiveness with performance improvements when considering nS for concrete applications.

Necropsy, the examination of animal carcasses to determine the cause of death, is an essential skill for many professionals. Traditional training methods, however, are costly and time-consuming. The article suggests that Web-based Augmented Reality (WebAR) can offer an immersive and cost-effective training experience for laboratory animal necropsy. It describes using photogrammetry techniques to create a virtual necropsy environment consisting of 10 necropsy steps. A questionnaire was used to evaluate the usability, educational value, and drawbacks of the designed application by students who tested it. The paper outlines best practices for developing WebAR simulations, including high-fidelity 3D models and interactive elements. Additionally, it presents methods for creating new WebAR applications using specific programs or scripts. This paper highlights the potential benefits of WebAR for laboratory animal necropsy training, emphasizing its accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.

The main purpose of this study is to examine the school experiences of incarcerated Turkish young delinquents and reveal how these negative experiences affected their descent into delinquency. In order to carry out the study, official permission to meet with 10 young delinquents, currently being held in the Youth Detention Centre in Ankara (capital of Türkiye) and convicted of various crimes, has been obtained from the Turkish Ministry of Justice. Interviews have been conducted in three separate sessions. Study findings have revealed that the school experiences of young delinquents have been overwhelmingly negative and that they have started committing crimes while still being enrolled in school. Additionally, it has been found that they defied school rules and maintained social connections with individuals engaged in unlawful activities.

The primary purpose of this study is to shed light on the direct correlation found between team learning skills and teachers' moral commitment and to use moral commitment as a tool to reveal the indirect effect of these team learning skills on teachers' career commitment. Keeping this purpose in mind, three different scales (the Learning School Scale, Moral Commitment Scale, and Career Commitment Scale) obtained data via Google Forms from 448 teachers working in the province of Düzce in northwest Turkey during the spring semester 2020-2021 academic years. The SPSS 25 and AMOS21 statistical software programs analyzed the data gathered in this study, and structural equation modeling was used to test hypotheses generated from the data. Results obtained from programs show that while team learning doesn't directly predict teachers' career commitment, it indirectly predicts career commitment due to moral commitment. Moral commitment is the mediator variable that uncovers the relationship between team learning and career commitment (indicating complete mediation).

Objective: The association between autoimmunity-related tissue injury and thyroid cancer development remains an area of interest. Evidence suggests that patients with Graves disease (GD) may have an elevated risk for differentiated thyroid cancer. Multicenter studies are needed to gain insight into the correlates of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) identified in this particular group of patients. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of PTC and synchronous thyroid nodules in thyroidectomy specimens from GD patients in an endemic goiter region. Material and Methods: A retrospective review of institutional pathology records at two tertiary care centers identified 237 surgically treated patients with GD. Patients were categorized as having nodular Graves disease (N-GD) if synchronous nodular thyroid was identified by ultrasonography, while those without synchronous thyroid nodules were categorized as non-nodular or simple Graves disease (S-GD). The prevalence of PTC, histopathological correlates, and demographic characteristics were recorded and compared between groups N-GD and S-GD. Results: One hundred thirty-one and 106 patients were assigned to N-GD and S-GD, respectively. The mean age was significantly higher in N-GD (mean 45.52 years) compared to S-GD (mean 35.18 years) (p0.05). The group of S-GD was enriched in BRAF-like PTCs, whereas N-GD had equal distribution for RAS- and BRAF-like tumors. Conclusion: This study underscores that the majority of PTCs encountered in GD were enriched in low-risk subcentimeter PTCs with a prevalence that varies depending on the presence of underlying nodular thyroid tissue.

We investigated the effects of propofol on the antioxidant defense mechanisms, pro and anti-inflammatory cytokine expressions and specific defense processes in the study since these parameters play a significant role in postoperative complications, regulation of immune reactions, and wound healing. Twenty male cats were included in the study, anesthesia protocol was induced by IV administration of 6 mg/kg of propofol. Blood samples were harvested right before (T0) and fifteen minutes after (T1) propofol injection. Serum malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), IL-4, IL-8, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IFN-γ levels; the number of CD4+, CD8+ T cells and CD4/CD8 ratio in peripheral blood were determined. Propofol reduced the serum MDA and GSH-Px, while CAT and SOD levels remained unchanged. Furthermore, propofol did not impact serum IL-8, TNF-α, and IL-1β levels. Contrastingly, IFN-γ level tended to elevate, and serum IL-4 level was significantly increased. On the other hand, the CD8+ T cell population was significantly decreased, while the number of CD4+ T cells and the CD4/CD8 ratio were unaffected. Briefly, propofol did not adversely affect oxidative defense mechanisms, proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine cascade, and cell mediated immunity. Considering the insufficiency of cats" hepatic drug metabolism, we may conclude that propofol is a safe product regarding the investigated parameters.

Abstract In this paper, a non-autonomous (3+1) dimensional coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with variable coefficients in optical fiber communication is analyzed. By means of bilinear technique and symbolic computations, new multi-soliton solutions of the coupled model in different trigonometric and lump functions are given. Then, in terms of perturbed waves, considering the steady state solution and the small perturbation on the three directions x, y, z and the time t, the soliton transmission are also considered. The behaviour of interaction among lump periodic soliton is studied and optical soliton solutions are reached. This study has certain significance for the analysis of other nonlinear dispersion systems and the application of optical physics. The results are presented through graphs generated by using Maple. The important feature of the proposed study is to show different behaviour of the soliton at each component. The behaviour of solitons, their interactions, and their transformations are all governed by the fundamental concept of energy conservation in all three examples. We demonstrate the efficiency of our suggested methodology for analyzing the NLSE equations using the numerical simulations and analytical tools, yielding fresh insights into their behaviour and solutions. Our findings help to develop mathematical tools for investigating nonlinear partial differential equation (NLPDEs) and provide new insights on the dynamics of NLSE equations, which have implications for many domains of physics and applied mathematics

Introduction: Endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) is commonly used for abdominal aortic aneurysms, but its mortality rate remains high. The hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score, which measures hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet levels, provides prognostic value by reflecting the nutritional status and systemic inflammation. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the HALP score upon admission and long-term mortality in patients with EVAR. Methods: Consecutive patients with EVAR at our tertiary center from October 2010 to August 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. HALP scores were calculated using the following formula: hemoglobin (g/L) × albumin (g/L) × lymphocyte count (/L)/platelet count (/L). In-hospital and long-term mortality data were extracted. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis identified predictors of in-hospital mortality. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was performed to examine determinants of long-term mortality. Objective: This single-center study aimed to assess the incidence and predictors of carotid artery Xact stent fractures (SF) and their impact on in-stent restenosis (ISR) during long-term follow-up. Methods: A cohort of 108 patients (97 males, median age 69.4±8 months) who underwent Xact stent placement for internal carotid artery stenosis between 2013 and 2021 and were diagnosed with SFs through fluoroscopy in 2022 were included. SFs were categorized as types I-V based on fracture characteristics. Follow-up included duplex ultrasound examinations to assess stent patency. Results: The average follow-up duration was 49.2±24.3 months, with ISR observed in 10 patients. Abstract Background Due to growing global concerns regarding the management of construction waste, this study investigates the feasibility of creating engineered geopolymer composites by replacing traditional industrial by-products (slag) with construction waste, specifically recycled brick waste powder. Results Polyvinyl alcohol fibers were incorporated into the engineered geopolymer composite mixtures. The substitution of slag with recycled brick waste powder was carried out at varying percentages: 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100%, resulting in six different engineered geopolymer composite mixtures. The study evaluated the flexural strength, sorptivity, water absorption, and abrasion resistance of the engineered geopolymer composites, and also, microstructural characterization was conducted using scanning electron microscopy. The findings demonstrated that incorporating recycled brick waste powder into the engineered geopolymer composite mixes resulted in a decrease in flexural strength by 35.59% and a notable increase in midspan deflection by 339% when slag was replaced. Concurrently, there was a significant rise in water absorption and sorptivity by approximately 304 and 214%, respectively, when slag was entirely substituted with recycled brick waste powder. Conversely, abrasion resistance decreased, with the inclusion of recycled brick waste powder resulting in an 84% increase in volume change. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed active geopolymerization of recycled brick waste powder within the engineered geopolymer composite mixtures. Conclusions The results of this investigation demonstrate that it is feasible to produce engineered geopolymer composites using recycled brick waste powder instead of slag. The greater ductility and increased midspan deflection point to areas that require further optimization, even in spite of the observed decreases in flexural strength and abrasion resistance. The SEM examination reveals an active geopolymerization, highlighting the potential of recycled brick waste powder to produce environmentally friendly and sustainable construction materials. These results offer a good starting point for further studies that try to maximize the durability and performance of these composites.

While the etiology of ascending aortic aneurysms has traditionally been associated with non-inflammatory processes, emerging evidence suggests a potential role of inflammation in their development.Methods: This study investigates the relationship between inflammatory markers and ascending aortic aneurysms, focusing on high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the monocyte-to-HDL ratio (MHR). A total of 135 patients with ascending aortic aneurysms and 40 control subjects underwent comprehensive evaluations, including echocardiography, computed tomography imaging, and serum biomarker measurements.Results: The results indicate significantly elevated levels of hs-CRP and MHR in patients with ascending aortic aneurysms compared to the control group, suggesting a potential inflammatory component in the pathogenesis of these aneurysms. However, the precise mechanisms underlying this association remain to be elucidated.Conclusion: Despite limitations such as the cross-sectional study design and relatively small sample size, this study provides valuable insights into the potential involvement of inflammation in ascending aortic aneurysms. Global warming is the most serious problem of our age. The most permanent measure to be taken against this problem is to ensure that individuals receive an effective and well-equipped education, free from misconceptions, which are obstacles to the efficiency of education. In this study, it is aimed to develop a four-stage diagnostic test that can reveal the misconceptions of pre-service science teachers about global warming. The sample of the study, in which the survey approach was used, consists of 401 pre-service teachers studying in the science teaching department at different universities in Turkey. The results show that the test is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the misconceptions, scientific knowledge, and lack of knowledge about global warming. In the study, the factor with the highest percentage of pre-service science teachers' scientific knowledge and misconceptions was the consequences of global warming, while the factor with the highest percentage of lack of knowledge was calculated as the greenhouse effect factor. It is recommended to use the test to determine the current situation regarding the level and areas where the misconceptions of individuals are concentrated to improve the missing or faulty areas in the science curriculum.

This study explores the pervasive issue of social ostracism and bullying among university students in Kazakhstan and Türkiye, underscored by Goffman’s (1963) stigma theory. It investigates how societal norms and categorizations contribute to the marginalisation of students based on various identities, leading to ‘spoiled identities’ and the amplification of these behaviours through digital media. Employing a multiple case research model within a qualitative methodological tradition, the study involves 10 students from Kazakhstan and 27 from Türkiye, utilising semi-structured interviews to collect data. The findings reveal that social ostracism and bullying are multifaceted phenomena deeply rooted in differences such as religious beliefs, political orientations, and socio-economic status. Key factors contributing to these issues include the influence of social media, lack of empathy, and prevailing social hierarchies. The effects on students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being are profound, leading to decreased engagement, isolation, and psychological distress. While some students are unaware of university support mechanisms, those who have accessed such services report positive outcomes, highlighting the importance of visibility and accessibility. The study calls for comprehensive strategies addressing both the immediate and underlying factors of social ostracism and bullying, advocating for policy development, supportive interventions, and a commitment to fostering inclusivity.
