Digital health interventions (DHIs) are increasingly used to address the health of migrants and ethnic minorities, some of whom have reduced access to health services and worse health outcomes than majority populations. This study aims to give an overview of digital health interventions developed for ethnic or cultural minority and migrant populations, the health problems they address, their effectiveness at the individual level and the degree of participation of target populations during development. We used the methodological approach of the scoping review outlined by Tricco. We found a total of 2248 studies, of which 57 were included, mostly using mobile health technologies, followed by websites, informational videos, text messages and telehealth. Most interventions focused on illness self-management, mental health and wellbeing, followed by pregnancy and overall lifestyle habits. About half did not involve the target population in development and only a minority involved them consistently. The studies we found indicate that the increased involvement of the target population in the development of digital health tools leads to a greater acceptance of their use.

Hintergrund des Themas: Die Digitalisierung im Gesundheitswesen stellt neue Anforderungen an die Bevölkerung und an Gesundheitsfachpersonen. Den Gesundheitsfachpersonen kommt eine zentrale Rolle bei der Stärkung der (digitalen) Gesundheitskompetenz ihrer Patient:innen zu, vorausgesetzt sie verfügen über die nötige professionelle (digitale) Gesundheitskompetenz. Ziel: Ziel dieser Arbeit war es herauszufinden, von welchen Erfahrungen und Herausforderungen Gesundheitsfachpersonen in der Schweiz in Bezug auf ihre professionelle digitale Gesundheitskompetenz, ihren Umgang mit der digitalen Informationsflut und mit digitalen Neuerungen und Kontaktmöglichkeiten berichten. Methode: Im Sommer 2022 fand eine nationale Onlinebefragung zur professionellen Gesundheitskompetenz statt. Insgesamt wurde 1’851 Gesundheitsfachpersonen befragt. In dieser Arbeit wurde eine deskriptive und bivariate Datenanalyse zum Bereich «professionelle digitale Gesundheitskompetenz und digitale Angebote» durchgeführt. Zentrale Ergebnisse: Alle Gesundheitsfachpersonen erreichen im Bereich der professionellen digitalen Gesundheitskompetenz im Durchschnitt 51 von 100 Punkten. Patient:innen bei der Beurteilung der Vertrauenswürdigkeit von digitalen Informationen zu unterstützen, fällt ihnen am schwersten. Gesundheitsfachpersonen haben Mühe im Umgang mit digitalen Neuerungen. Die Studienergebnisse zeigen, dass GFP persönlich gut mit der digitalen Informationsflut zurechtkommen. Schlussfolgerung: Die Ergebnisse zeigen Handlungsbedarf. Es wäre wichtig, die professionelle digitale GK von GFP in der Ausbildung zu verankern und sie durch regelmässige Weiterbildungsangebote nachhaltig zu fördern.

Introduction: In 2009, The Lancet identified climate change as the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century. Understanding the health impact of climate change and extreme weather events is crucial for all health professionals. Vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, young children and the elderly are particularly affected by climate change. For example, pregnant women are at higher risk of mortality from extreme heat because of their limited ability for adaptation. Pregnancy and childbirth can be used to raise awareness of healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes, and those affected are more likely to be accepting. Health professionals are required to develop skills to identify and integrate the health impacts of climate change into their work with clients. At the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the topic of "Impacts of climate change" on health is rarely included in the curriculum of the bachelor's degree programe in Health. The relevance of the topic has been outlined for the education and training of health professionals and appeals for existing teaching and learning formats to be supplemented by the topics of climate and sustainability. For this reason, an elective module is offered for students of all degree programe (Occupational Therapy, Health Promotion & Prevention, Midwifery, Nursing and Physiotherapy). The issue is particularly important for midwives because they provide care to people in a sensitive phase of their lives in which climate change has a major impact. Course aim: Participants will gain an insight into the structure and implementation of the interprofessional elective module "Climate (Change) & Health" offered in the ZHAW midwifery programe. Die vorliegende Masterarbeit befasst sich mit der Entwicklung eines Artefakts in Form einer Virtual-Reality-Simulation eines Elektrorollstuhls für Kinder mit Einschränkungen. Dadurch kommt die Technologie der Virtual Reality in Bereich der sonderpädagogischen und inklusiven Bildung zum Einsatz. Ein Gebiet, in welcher der Einsatz der Virtual Reality Technologie, noch wenig erforscht ist. In der Masterarbeit wird untersucht, welche Eigenschaften das Artefakt aufweisen muss, um bei Kindern mit Einschränkung Akzeptanz zu finden und das pädagogische Personal beim Lernprozess zu entlasten. Das Artefakt wurde mithilfe der Software Unity entwickelt und umfasst zwei aufeinander aufbauende Level, die darauf abzielen, den Lernprozess des Elektrorollstuhlfahrens zu fördern. Zur Umsetzung wurde eine Motion-Plattform, ein Head-Mounted Display von HTC und ein Joystick zur Steuerung des virtuellen Elektrorollstuhls verwendet. Zur Beantwortung dieser Frage wurde die prototypische Methode angewendet. Zwei Testläufe wurden durchgeführt, wobei der erste Testlauf dazu diente die Anwendung zu evaluieren und Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten zu identifizieren. Der zweite Testlauf überprüfte die modifizierten Eigenschaften und beantwortete die Forschungsfrage. Die Vivala Stiftung aus Weinfelden fungierte als Partner dieser Masterarbeit. In Zusammenarbeit mit einem Heilpädagogen, sowie mit zwei Kindern mit Celebralparese wurde untersucht, dass die Faktoren Usability/Playability, Narrative/Wirksamkeit und Vergnügen entscheidend sind für die Akzeptanz der Anwendung. Dem hinzuzufügen ist, dass das Artefakt sowie der Immersionseffekt der Virtual Reality Anwendung von den Kindern wie auch vom Heilpädagogen als sehr positiv wahrgenommen wurden. Dies lässt darauf schliessen, dass die Technologie der Virtual Reality im Bereich der sonderpädagogischen und inklusiven Bildung hohes Potenzial aufweist und dadurch neue Forschungsfelder öffnet.

The talk will address the different digital health literacy instruments currently existing and present their advantages and limitations. The rapid growth in access and use of digital (health) information resources in our society can also be observed among adolescents and children. However, to date no instrument exists that was specifically designed to measure how children and adolescents find, understand, appraise, and use such digital health information and services. The aim of the talk is to provide an overview of digital literacy instruments and present strengths and limitations of existing instruments. One limitation, the self-reported nature of digital health literacy, will be addressed and potential solutions discussed with the audience. The talk will demonstrate the current lack of instruments to measure digital health literacy in children and adolescents, and what this means for child and adolescent public health and the promotion of digital health literacy.

Migration und auch der Bedarf an ausländischen Pflegekräften tragen dazu bei, dass das Überwinden von Sprachbarrieren für eine effiziente und patientenzentrierte Gesundheitskommunikation immer relevanter wird. Maschinelle Übersetzungstools bergen hierfür sowohl ein grosses Potential als auch Risiken. In einer Interviewstudie mit Ärzt:innen und Pflegepersonal in der Schweiz haben wir den Einsatz automatischer Übersetzungstools in der medizinischen Praxis näher untersucht. Die Ergebnisse unserer Studie zeigen, dass solche Tools bereits eingesetzt werden, der Einsatz aber mit Unsicherheit verbunden ist. Wir erläutern in diesem Zusammenhang das Konzept der Machine Translation Literacy, welche den sachkundigen Einsatz von Übersetzungstools definiert und veranschaulichen, warum sie als eine digitale Kompetenz für die mehrsprachige Gesundheitskommunikation von Bedeutung ist.

Machine translation (MT) is increasingly tested as a tool to facilitate the communication across languages in health care settings (Dew et al, 2018). However, today we know little about how MT tools are actually used by healthcare professionals and patients. In addition, there are rarely guidelines that would ensure an appropriate use of this technology (Vieira, O’Hagan, & O’Sullivan 2021). This paper will present results from an interview study conducted with Swiss healthcare professionals on their use of MT. It sets out to better understand the potential of MT in healthcare as well as the human value of interpreters in a communication setting in which intercultural and emotional intelligence are of utmost importance. Results of our study suggest that MT tools and human interpreters are deployed for different types of situations which can be distinguished according to their predictability, technical complexity, emotionality, and relational goals. Also, practical aspects like organization and financing of interpreters seem to play a role. While MT can facilitate access to healthcare, the limitations of MT tools also raise some issues. For example, they can lead to additional stress in patients and a loss of time for healthcare staff. Based on our results, we address the co-existence between MT tools and human interpreters from an ethical perspective and derive recommendations for the use of MT in healthcare that can help to ensure an ethical use of this technology.

During pregnancy and early parenthood, parents’ strong interest in pediatric health information presents a valuable opportunity to positively impact long-term health-seeking behavior and overall child health. In line with the increasing prevalence of digital transformation, a scoping review was conducted to explore two key aspects: (1) information seeking and use of digital health information among immigrant parents, and (2) associated reasons and factors. The literature search covered the period until July 2022, using Web of Science, MEDLINE, and CINAHL Complete databases. Out of 625 articles, 12 were included, comprising six qualitative, five quantitative studies, and one review. The majority of studies focused on immigrants in North America, primarily from Latin America and Asia. The studies varied in topics and methodologies, making it challenging to draw general conclusions. Nevertheless, while most immigrant parents rely on digital information on child health, they often prefer human sources such as family, friends, or healthcare providers. Trustworthiness and accessibility emerged as critical criteria for health resources. Two focus group discussions, derived from the results of the review, confirmed these findings for migrant mothers in Switzerland.

Background: Unconscious biases are one of the causes of health disparities. Health professionals have prejudices against patients due to their race, gender, or other factors without their conscious knowledge. This review aimed to provide an overview of research on unconscious bias among health professionals and to investigate the biases that exist in different regions of the world, the health professions that are considered, and the research gaps that still exist. Methods: We conducted a scoping review by systematically searching PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES, and AMED. All records were double-screened and included if they were published between 2011 and 2021. Results: A total of 5186 records were found. After removing duplicates (n = 300), screening titles and abstracts (n = 4210), and full-text screening (n = 695), 87 articles from 81 studies remained. Studies originated from North America (n = 60), Europe (n = 13), and the rest of the world (n = 6), and two studies were of global scope. Racial bias was investigated most frequently (n = 46), followed by gender bias (n = 11), weight bias (n = 10), socio-economic status bias (n = 9), and mental illness bias (n = 7). Most of the studies were conducted by physicians (n = 51) and nurses (n = 20). Other health care professionals were rarely included in these studies. Conclusions: Most studies show that health professionals have an implicit bias. Racial biases among physicians and nurses in the USA are well confirmed. Research is missing on other biases from other regions and other health professions.

Social media posts can be used to explore public perceptions of interprofessional teams and healthcare professionals. The aim of this study was to use social listening technique to explore unfiltered public perceptions of the professionals involved in healthcare teams during the COVID-19 pandemic, in a naturalistic online setting, and to elaborate on the emotional reactions in response to an online social media post. A cross-sectional retrospective review of comments on a specific social media post was conducted between 15 March and 28 April 2020 using summative content analysis. One image that was widely circulated on social media platforms with two questions: 'Who society thinks works at hospital? versus who really works at hospitals?' was selected. Three platforms were searched, Facebook®, Twitter®, and LinkedIn®. Only publicly available posts were included. Out of the initial 40 posts identified, 21 posts which had 1759 comments were analysed and 1576 were included for coding. Of the emerging nine themes, perceptions of who is in the team was the largest (40.5%, n = 639), followed by agreement (23.1%, n = 364) and feeling excluded (16.2%, n = 255). Of emotional expressions, 42.1% were positive and 57.9% negative. The most frequent emotions were frustration (54.4%, n = 857) followed by gratitude (16.3%, n = 257) and relief (15.9%, n = 250). The post brought considerable attention to the role of the interprofessional team and generated many feelings of frustration and exclusion. For this reason, the response to this social media post is very important and not to be overlooked. Healthcare professionals need to work together to strengthen their presence as an interprofessional team, united to deliver safe effective quality care for patients. The current COVID-19 pandemic and the media attention should be taken as an opportunity by the interprofessional community to work together to combat negative media stereotypes. Further research is warranted on public perception

Place-making refers to the emotional attachment people have to a place and has been adopted as a concept in occupational science. In this paper, Relph’s perspective on place-making is associated with how place-making has been discussed in occupational science. Relph’s viewpoint serves as a basis for understanding secret hiding places from children’s perspectives. During data collection for a study investigating children’s perceptions of inclusive playgrounds (Wenger et al., Citation2021), secret hiding places were a recurring topic. This paper aims to explore secret hiding places from the children’s perspective, with a special focus on place-making. To accomplish this, a literature review was undertaken and findings combined with data from two previously conducted studies using qualitative content analysis. From the analysis three categories were developed describing the making of secret hiding places, the purpose of secret hiding places, and play occupations that children do in secret hiding places. The findings suggest that place-making can be seen as an occupation of childhood, related to the physical construction of the secret hiding place itself and the formation of attachment to the place through occupations that are shaped by social interactions and result in meaningful experiences.

For children, playing outdoors is a meaningful occupation, and such play is enabled by outdoor playgrounds. As play is a fundamental right for every child, Universal Design is an approach to creating inclusive playgrounds that welcome all children. Yet, research investigating how the physical environment of a playground supports children’s play needs, in terms of play value and inclusion, is largely absent. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate how children’s experiences of the environmental characteristics of outdoor playgrounds add to the understanding of play value and inclusion from a child-centred perspective. Using a meta-ethnography approach, a systematic review of qualitative evidence was conducted, which included 17 studies. The study identified two themes. Theme one describes the understanding of play value from the children’s view, which includes their experiencing and mastering of challenges, creating and shaping of the physical environment, social experiences of playing with or alongside other children, and sense of belonging felt from the welcoming playground atmosphere. Theme two describes how the design of the physical environment of a playground in the sense of the variety of spaces and places, and the variability of designed and non-designed elements, influences play value and inclusion. The line of argument synthesis describes the interrelationship between the physical (variety and variability) and the social environment (inclusion) characteristics of the playground through the socio-spatial element of play value. This study identified the interrelated elements contributing to high play value, and consequently place-making, which can contribute to the understanding of inclusive design for playgrounds.

Im Projekt Equinus Health wurde untersucht, inwieweit die körperliche Verfassung und die Fähigkeiten der Reiter:innen die Gesundheit des Pferdes beeinflussen. Im Jahr 2017 untersuchten Forschende der Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften und der Universität Zürich insgesamt 236 Pferd-Reiter:innen-Paare aus der Deutsch- und Westschweiz. Zunächst mussten alle Reiter:innen einen Fragebogen ausfüllen, bevor sie klinisch untersucht wurden. Die körperliche Untersuchung der Reiter:innen wurde von Physiotherapeut:innen durchgeführt, während Tierärzt:innen eine orthopädische Untersuchung des Pferdes vornahmen. Dabei wurde auch das Material geprüft. Anschliessend absolvierte das Pferd-Reiter:innen-Paar ein standardisiertes Reitprogramm. Dabei wurden mit verschiedenen Sensoren und Kameras Messungen vorgenommen, die dazu dienten, den Satteldruck zu erfassen oder die Körperhaltung der Reiter:innen zu objektivieren. Die Reitkompetenz wurde von zwei nationalen Reitrichter:innen beurteilt. Anhand dieser Daten konnten Aegerter et al. (2019) zeigen, dass die körperliche Fitness der Reiter:innen ungefähr 20% der Reitkompetenz erklärte. Gute Reiter:innen hatten eine höhere Ausdauer, Kraft und Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit, waren aber unbeweglicher. Es wurde kein statistischer Zusammenhang mit dem Gleichgewicht, der Symmetrie und der Schnellkraft der Reiter:innen gefunden. Hinsichtlich des Satteldrucks fanden Gunst et al. (2019) heraus, dass dieser auf der kontralateralen Seite steigt, wenn die Reiter:innen in einer Hüfte einknicken. Neigen sich Reiter:innen zu einer Seite, erhöht sich der Satteldruck auf der gleichen Seite. Weiter wurden die Ergebnisse der körperlichen Untersuchungen der Reiter:innen und Pferde, die Beurteilung der Reitkompetenz sowie die Messungen des Satteldrucks und der Körperhaltung der Reiter:innen miteinander verglichen und in Beziehung gesetzt. Die wichtigsten Muster, die identifiziert werden konnten, werden mündlich vorgestellt.

In Österreich und in der Schweiz werden Pflege- und Therapieberufe an Fachhochschulen ausgebildet. Die beiden Länder machen damit positive Erfahrungen, während Deutschland mit der Akademisierung der Gesundheitsfachberufe nicht vom Fleck kommt.

Interkulturelle Kompetenzen sind für Chancengleichheit in Bezug auf Zugang zu Gesundheitsversorgung und Betreuungsqualität unabdingbar. Die Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Departement Gesundheit, hat deshalb mit der Te Herenga Waka / Victoria Universität in Wellington, Neuseeland, ein Projekt zur Exploration eines transkontinentalen, online basierten Curriculums auf MSc-Stufe lanciert.

Eine Sekundäranalyse von vier Space Utilization Studies (SUS) in Spitälern dokumentiert die Belegungsraten und Nutzungsweisen von Spitalarbeitsplätzen. SUS können als Mess- und Analyseinstrumente in Büroraumveränderungsprojekten eingesetzt werden. So bietet diese Analyse eine Ausgangslage für die Planung von administrativen Arbeitsplätzen im Spital.

Administrative non-patient workstations of medical staff are often rarely occupied, as physicians use various spaces in their daily routine. Occupancy data for administrative workplaces in hospitals are scarce but needed as a basis for planning for costly projects. Thus, the objective of this secondary data analysis was to compare the occupancy rate of traditional administrative offices to medical offices in hospitals. Additionally, the activities performed at the workstation are compared. Occupancy data resulting from Space Utilization Surveys in 14 offices were compared with data from for hospitals projects. The data results from multi-moment observations that were conducted twice per hour on three days while presence and activity patterns were collected. The office data and the hospital data were analyzed descriptively. Average occupancy and activities were studied and recognised that compared to offices, workstations in the hospitals have significantly lower occupancy rates. Activities at workstations in hospitals and activities in offices are significantly different. The results show more communication activities in hospitals and less computer work compared to offices. According to this analysis space efficiency potentials exist. The results indicate that the way workstations are used in hospitals is different from traditional offices. Medical staff spend a large part of the working day away from their backstage desks. However, the use of desks is less plannable as in offices and changes of room take place frequently. Therefore, it’s unclear whether the efficiency potentials can be realized in a way as for administrative offices.

Many hopes are pinned on the topic of „interprofessional collaboration”. However, a precise definition of the term is lacking, as has already been noted in some publications in the field of health sciences. Linguistic analyses dedicated to the concept of interprofessional collaboration are not yet available. The present analysis aims at narrowing this gap. Specifically, the terms „interprofessionality”, „interprofessional” and „interprofessional collaboration” were quantitatively recorded in texts from two linguistic corpora based on texts in German. In a second step, a qualitative analysis of the use of the terms was conducted. The linguistic analysis showed a considerable increase in the use of all three terms, a restriction to specialist medical publications, and a focus on interprofessional collaboration between physicians and nurses. The patient perspective was widely absent. Furthermore, the term exhibited a typical relation with development-focused keywords, indicating that the sharpening of the conceptual field of interprofessional collaboration is not yet complete. Konkret wurden die Begriffe «Interprofessionalität», «interprofessionell» und «interprofessionelle Zusammenarbeit» in Texten aus zwei linguistischen Korpora quantitativ erfasst. In einem zweiten Arbeitsschritt wurde die Begriffsverwendung qualitativ analysiert. In einem kurzen Fazit werden die Ergebnisse reflektiert und diskutiert. Background: Steroid hormones (i.e., estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone) are considered to play a crucial role in the regulation of women’s sexual desire and sexual attraction to sexual stimuli throughout the menstrual cycle. However, the literature is inconsistent, and methodologically sound studies on the relationship between steroid hormones and women’s sexual attraction are rare. Methods: This prospective longitudinal multisite study examined estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone serum levels in association with sexual attraction to visual sexual stimuli in naturally cycling women and in women undergoing fertility treatment (in vitro fertilization, IVF). Across ovarian stimulation of fertility treatment, estradiol reaches supraphysiological levels, while other ovarian hormones remain nearly stable. Ovarian stimulation hence offers a unique quasi-experimental model to study concentration-dependent effects of estradiol. Hormonal parameters and sexual attraction to visual sexual stimuli assessed with computerized visual analogue scales were collected at four time points per cycle, i.e., during the menstrual, preovulatory, mid-luteal, and premenstrual phases, across two consecutive menstrual cycles (n = 88 and n = 68 for the first and second cycle, respectively). Women undergoing fertility treatment (n = 44) were assessed twice, at the beginning and at the end of ovarian stimulation. Sexually explicit photographs served as visual sexual stimuli. Results: In naturally cycling women, sexual attraction to visual sexual stimuli did not vary consistently across two consecutive menstrual cycles. While in the first menstrual cycle sexual attraction to male bodies, couples kissing, and at intercourse varied significantly with a peak in the preovulatory phase, (all p ≤ 0.001), there was no significant variability across the second cycle. Introduction: In contrast to current AI technology, natural intelligence – the kind of autonomous intelligence that is realized in the brains of animals and humans to attain in their natural environment goals defined by a repertoire of innate behavioral schemata – is far superior in terms of learning speed, generalization capabilities, autonomy and creativity. How are these strengths, by what means are ideas and imagination produced in natural neural networks? Methods: Reviewing the literature, we put forward the argument that both our natural environment and the brain are of low complexity, that is, require for their generation very little information and are consequently both highly structured. We further argue that the structures of brain and natural environment are closely related. Results: We propose that the structural regularity of the brain takes the form of net fragments (self-organized network patterns) and that these serve as the powerful inductive bias that enables the brain to learn quickly, generalize from few examples and bridge the gap between abstractly defined general goals and concrete situations. Conclusions: Our results have important bearings on open problems in artificial neural network research

Different terms (e.g., interprofessional, multiprofessional, interdisciplinary) are used in interprofessional education and collaboration without sufficient differentiation or precision in regard to meaning. In recent years academic publications in English and German have contributed to clarifying this issue. However, there are no definitions internationally or in the German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) specifically referring to the people engaged in teaching interprofessional education. Teaching in interprofessional education has evolved from the traditional role of expert to one of mentor or facilitator. It is also evident that those who teach play a central role in the success of interprofessional courses. While many different designations are used to refer to interprofessional teachers in the relevant literature and in the language of daily use, a uniform and adequate terminology should be used to refer to such teaching staff. Based on literature reviews, this commentary seeks to propose terms for teaching staff active in the area of interprofessional education and thus provide a basis for discussion in the German-speaking countries. Taking the results of the literature analysis and the roles of teachers in interprofessional settings into consideration, we propose that the English term "IP facilitator" (IP for interprofessional) should also be used in the German-speaking world and "facilitateur IP" in the French-speaking world. A French translation is included in attachment 1 to enable broader discussion in Switzerland.

Text auf Deutsch und Englisch, English - German below: The Careum Summer School (CSS) is a learning setting that enables self-regulated learning in an environment in which trainees and students from the various medical, nursing and therapeutic healthcare professions taught in the Swiss education system (upper secondary and tertiary levels A and B) develop project ideas together with patients and their caregivers. The aim of this learning setting is to promote a positive attitude among trainees and students towards interprofessional collaboration that includes patients as cooperation partners. Objective: The evaluation examines the extent to which trainees' and students' attitudes towards interprofessional collaboration changed. Information was also obtained on the experiences patients and their caregivers had during their participation in the CSS programme. Methodology: A total of 69 trainees and students were given access to an online survey in the form of the German version of the University of the West of England Interprofessional Questionnaire (UWE-IP) one week before the CSS programme began and six weeks after it concluded. Problem-focused interviews were also conducted with 11 patients and their caregivers. Results: The attitudes of the trainees and students in the UWE-IP Interprofessional Learning Scale improved significantly after the CSS programme was conducted (median t1=22.0/t2=16.0). The effect size was r=0.839 (Wilcoxon test for dependent samples). No significant results could be identified for the other three UWE-IP scales. Patients and their caregivers reported that they were able to actively participate in the CSS programme and felt valued and appreciated. Conclusion: The CSS offered a learning environment in which all participants were able to exchange knowledge and information in an interprofessional manner and work collaboratively on the development of a project idea - for example an interprofessional competency passport with a spider diagram. *** Deutsch: Die Careum Summer Sch

Sportler*innen in verschiedenen Sportarten müssen innerhalb kurzer Zeit Entscheidungen treffen, basierend auf ihrer Wahrnehmung der jeweiligen Sport-, und/oder Spielsituation. Dafür benötigen sie unter anderem ein optimal funktionierendes sensomotorisches System, das verschiedene Sinneswahrnehmungen integrieren muss, z.B. in Bezug auf den eigenen Körper, inklusive dessen Position im Raum, sowie der Sport-/Spielsituation, inklusive einem möglicherweise beteiligten Sportgerät (Ball, Schläger etc.) sowie Mitspieler*innen und/oder Gegner*innen. Dieses sensomotorische System muss innerhalb von Bruchteilen einer Sekunde verschiedene sensorische Informationen, z.B. visuelle oder propriozeptive, aufnehmen, diese gewichten und so verarbeiten, dass eine angepasste motorische Reaktion unterschiedlicher motorischer Systeme ausgelöst wird. Diese Reaktion bedient sich dabei, je nach Begabung und Geschicklichkeit der Sportlerin oder des Sportlers abgespeicherter Bewegungsmuster, die jedoch laufend der sich ändernden Situationen angepasst werden müssen. Eine wichtige Säule des sensomotorischen Systems ist die Halswirbelsäule, die auch durch ihre Beweglichkeit die beteiligten Sensoren in die optimale Stellung bringen kann.

The circadian rhythm (CR) in a healthy individual is controlled by the suprachiasmatic nuclei. CR controls physiological functions as a response to the natural day-night cycle hence it has a period close to 24 hours. A disruption of the healthy CR is often associated with pathologies on physiological and psychological levels, ranging from mood shifts, sleep disorders, to neurodegenerative diseases and tumorigenesis. This work aims at accurate, non-invasive, continuous tracking of the changes in core body temperature as a prominent manifestation of the CR. To date, the legacy methods of tracking the core body temperature are either inaccurate (such as skin temperature measurements), or excessively invasive for a long-term deployment (such as digestible thermometer pills, or rectal measurements). We use machine learning techniques to estimate the core body temperature from peripheral physiological signals such as skin temperature, heat flux, acceleration, and heart rate. To acquire data necessary for an estimation of the core body temperature under free living conditions, we used a novel, proprietary, wrist-wearable device featuring temperature, heat flux and accelerometer sensors developed at GreenTEG AG, as well off-the-shelf hardware equipped with a PPG sensor for heart rate monitoring. We created a unique database containing continuous 3-day recordings of peripheral physiological signals from 58 subjects. The reference core body temperature data, necessary for development and evaluation of the proposed algorithms, has been recorded using digestible pills for core body temperature measurements. In this poster, we demonstrate accurate core body temperature estimation from peripheral physiological signals with average rms=0.31 degrees Celsius. The accuracy of core body temperature estimation using the proposed method exceeds that of alternative devices reported in literature. Der Fokus der Forschung zu künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) liegt in der Radiologie auf der Bildinterpretation sowie Befunderstellung. Die Betrachtung von vor- oder nachgelagerten Schritten im Prozess der Leistungserbringung erfolgt nur bedingt. Der Einsatz von KI im nicht klinischen Bereich ist derzeit nur schwer abschätzbar. Auf Grund der fehlenden wissenschaftlichen Basis verfolgt diese Arbeit das Ziel eine Abschätzung des Einflusses von KI auf die der Bildinterpretation und Befunderstellung vor- und nachgelagerten Prozesse der Leistungserbringung zu ermöglichen. Nach Erarbeitung eines Modells unter Einbezug der betriebswirtschaftlichen wie auch technischen Perspektive erfolgt eine Erhebung anhand einer Fallstudie. Das erarbeitete Modell basiert auf den Erkenntnissen des theoretischen Hintergrunds zu KI und Ablauforganisationen sowie verschiedenen Interviews. Zunächst identifiziert das erarbeitete Modell definierter Kriterien mögliche Prozessschritte für einen Einsatz von KI und prüft diese vorab auf einen Ausschluss aufgrund gesetzlicher Vorgaben oder einer fehlenden Datengrundlage. Dies resultiert in der Erarbeitung von Use-Cases für die inkludierten Prozessschritte. Die Bestimmung des Einflusses der Use-Cases auf die Leistungserbringung erfolgt anhand der Themengebiete KI-Faktoren, Rahmenbedingungen und prozessuale Aspekte sowie der Einordnung des jeweiligen Use-Cases in das Hype Cycle Modell zur Definition des technischen Entwicklungsstands der KI. Abschliessend stellt das Modell das Einsatzpotential und den technischen Entwicklungsstand zur Erhebung des Einflusses gegenüber. Zusammenfassend zeigt sich, dass KI im Bereich der Bildakquisition bereits etabliert wurde. Als weiteren Bereich mit hohem Einsatzpotential konnte die Leistungsabrechnung ausgemacht werden. Bei der Leistungsabrechnung im ambulanten Bereich bleibt die Notwendigkeit einer KI jedoch fraglich und muss weitergehende evaluiert werden. In the wake of local initiatives and developmental funding programs, interprofessionality is now included in national curricula in the German-speaking countries. Based on the 3P model (presage, process, product), this position paper presents the development of interprofessional education in recent years in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and places it in an international context. Core aspects as legal frameworks, including amendments to occupational regulations as well as the formation of networks and faculty development are basic requirements for interprofessional education. New topics and educational settings take shape in the process of interprofessional education: patient perspectives and teaching formats, such as online courses, become more important or are newly established. The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on interprofessional education is explored as well. Among many new interprofessional courses, particularly the implementation of interprofessional training wards in Germany and Switzerland are positive examples of successful interprofessional education. The objective of interprofessional education continues to be the acquisition of interprofessional competencies. The main focus is now centered on evaluating this educational format and testing for the corresponding competencies. In the future, more capacities will be required for interprofessional continuing education and post-graduate education. Structured research programs are essential to ascertain the effects of interprofessional education in the German-speaking countries. In this position paper the GMA committee on interprofessional education encourages further advancement of this topic and expresses the aim to continue cooperating with other networks to strengthen and intensify interprofessional education and collaboration in healthcare.

Knowledge about the orientation of a representative ankle joint axis is limited to studies of tarsal morphology and of quasistatic movements. The aim of our study was therefore to determine the development of the axis orientation during walking. Intracortical bone pins were used to monitor the kinematics of the talus and tibia of five healthy volunteers. The finite helical axis was determined for moving windows of 10% stance phase and its orientation reported if the rotation about the axis was more than 2°. A representative axis for ankle dorsi- and plantarflexion was also estimated based on tarsal morphology. As reported by literature, the morphology-based axis was inclined more medially upwards for dorsiflexion than for plantarflexion. However, when a mean of the finite helical axis orientations was calculated for each walking trial for dorsiflexion (stance phase 15-25%) and for plantarflexion (stance phase 85-95%), the inclination was less medially upwards in dorsiflexion than in plantarflexion in four out of five participants. Thus, it appears that the inclination of a representative ankle joint axis for dynamic loading situations cannot be estimated from either morphology or quasi-static experiments. Future studies assessing muscle activity, ligament behaviour and articulating surfaces may help to identify the determining factors for the orientation of a representative ankle joint axis.

The health professions in the German-speaking region of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the so-called D-A-CH area, are in dynamic phases of their professionalization due to their shift towards education at universities. In addition, the needs of current and future health care require all health professionals (HPs) to have collaborative competencies and a willingness to work together. This willingness and the challenge to cocreation of health systems by all health professionals is a good starting point for the evolution of the professions. So what must professional profiles, and role beliefs - in short, modern professionalization strategies - be like so that, at the beginning of the 21st century, education and professional practice do not remain stuck in old thought structures and templates and monodisciplinary „silo thinking.” What does it mean in concrete terms for the professionalization of professions that health care professions must (be able to) increasingly work together? Doesn’t professionalization so far tend to mean exclusivity and isn’t a stronger demarcation between the professions than the consequence? Against the background of professionalization through academization, do university studies not tend to aim at a stronger demarcation from other disciplines and professions? Professionalization includes exclusive competencies and specialized methods against the background of one’s profession-related action sciences. At the three-country meeting of the VFWG in Bern on 5-6 May 2022, this area of tension was put up for discussion in a World Café based on four theses. The following article documents the results of the individual discussion rounds and aims to stimulate a critical discourse.
