e-Learningは多くの労力や費用を掛けて実現されている。e-Learningが対面型授業の代替と考えられているからこそ、このコストは引き受けられているのであろう。しかし、対面型授業を代替するようなe-Learningは安定稼働以降でも教授者の大きな負担が必要であることはあまり知られていない。しかも、教授者が適切な運用を怠れば受講者の学習継続率は極めて低いと言われている。著者らはe-Learningを対面型授業の代替ではなく補完と捉え、対面型授業をコンテンツ化する事を目的とするのではなく、授業のフォローアップに限定することで、少ない労力と費用で小規模でも有用なものを実現できると考えた。そこで、低スペックのサーバに、オープンソースのCMS（Contents Management System）を用いてフォーラム機能のみを実装し、(1)高等専門学校の学生が数学の学習につまずいた際の質問対応、(2)大学のセミナー科目での価値観を伴う議論の場、(3)遠方から通学する社会人大学院生に対する統計学の質問対応のそれぞれに使用を試みた。CMSはWebサイトを管理するための道具である。道具は、扱う対象が適切かどうか、扱い方が適切であるかどうかで有効性は大きく異なる。今回は、上記の3ケースで利用し、(1)、(2)のような数学的問題については有効性の手ごたえを得た。特に(3)のような距離的時間的制約のある場合には高い有効性を持つ。一方、(2)のケースでは、ネット上でのトラブルが頻繁に報道される現状では逆に議論をしにくくなる可能性が示されただけでなく、議論のテーマの違いが投稿数に影響を与えるなど、必ずしもクールな媒体ではない可能性が示された。

This paper examines the possibility of the symbiotic Japanese language education. The reform of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Acts in 1990 triggered increase of the foreign residents inclined to settle down in Japan. Discussions for multicultural symbiosis became proactive, which brought the paradigm shift to the Japanese language education, from teaching non-native speakers 'standard Japanese' to encouraging both native and non-native speakers to learn 'symbiotic Japanese'. The dialogic problem-posed learning was introduced to facilitate dialogs and learning symbiotic Japanese between Japanese and foreign residents, the process of which would enable them to reform the Japanese society into symbiotic. The teachers' roles there are to coordinate their learning community, facilitate their interactions, and advocate what foreign residents would want to express. The ideals for symbiotic Japanese language education have not become prevalent into practice in a complete manner; thus, it is imperative to develop comprehensive teacher training programs.

application/pdf, 紀要論文, In response to the increasing number of foreign residents living in Japan, mutual learning oriented to multicultural coexistence has recently been attempted in JSL education, where both Japanese native (hereafter NS) and non-native (hereafter NNS) residents living in Japanese communities come together to learn. This paper, utilizing Personal Attitude Construct (hereafter PAC) analysis (Naito, 2002), examines how a multiculturally oriented JSL program (Okazaki, 2002) affected a participant's attitude toward the coexistence of NS and NNS residents. The attitude of a NNS participant, strongly inclined to adapting herself to Japanese society, was compared both before and after she participated in the program. The results show that before participating in the program the NNS participant valued her determination and action in adapting herself to Japanese society and implied a humble expectation of NS residents. On the other hand, after participating she did not desire such adaptation, but instead positioned NS and NNS residents as equal partners for coexistence. In addition, after participating the NNS came to recogni\ ze that she could play a more active role in multicultural society. Based on these results, this study indicates that through the multiculturally oriented JSL program the participant fostered a more positive attitude toward multicultural coexistence including the importance of developing equal relationships between NS and NNS residents and broadening her role in Japanese society.

application/pdf, 紀要論文, This paper aims to discuss about Japanese language education programs based on the concept of promoting 'cultural and linguistic symbiosis' between Japanese native speakers and non-native speakers in Japan. This study focuses on how asymmetrical relationship changes into symmetrical relationship. Subject of this study are foreign and Japanese university students involved in group-activities. Based on the method known as Conversation Analysis, this paper shows how the participants themselves construct the categories of 'native/ non-native speakers' in ongoing interaction which results in asymmetrical interaction. Moreover, the focus is also on how participants can break through an asymmetrical interaction achieve a more symmetrical relationship.

1980年代に増え始めた新来外国人は90年代に急増し、地域社会で暮らすようになった。彼らに対する日本語教室がボランティアによって全国各地で開催されているが、その活動について議論されるようになったのはこの10年あまりである。日本語教育の専門家からは、地域日本語教室における活動はボランティアと学習者による相互学習であり、共に育む地域づくりをめざすものと位置づけられているが、筆者が知りえた地域日本語教室の活動実態とは一致しない。本稿では、ボランティアがかかわる地域日本語教室の類型化を試みることによって、その現状と問題点を明らかにする。まず、主催者やボランティアの特徴を設立経緯との関わりから述べる。次に、学習者の特徴を日本語能力、日本語使用環境、生活環境、滞在予定期間などの違いから述べ、地域日本語教育から取り残されている外国人住民の存在を明らかにする。さらに、地域日本語教室にかかわる人々が、活動目的、開催場所・日時、活動内容・方法・形態をどのように規定しているかについて考察し、地域日本語教室の持つさまざまな特徴が、相互に規定しあうことによって固定化し、相互学習の機会を阻害していることを述べる。最後に、多文化共生社会を構築するための地域日本語教育の課題と方向性について言及する。

application/pdf, 紀要論文, 日本語ボランティア教室に対して日本人住民と外国人住民の相互学習の理念が提案されているが,教室に参加する「日本語ボランティア」と「学習者」は共に学校教育的な日本語教授を期待しているという調査結果が多く報告されている。そこで,日本語教師が日本語ボランティア教室で参加者間の相互学習を目指してどのようにコースデザインをすれば参加者の期待がどう変容するかを,アクション・リサーチの手法で調査した。教師は相互学習の理念を参加者に伝え実現するために,コースデザインにおいて以下3点の改善を図った。(1)ボランティア,学習者という呼称を使わずに,日本人も外国人も「参加者」と呼び,活動内容や参加費等の負担を等しくする,(2)活動設計と教材作成は教師が担当する,(3)活動は,自己表現活動,自分たちの生活や町を捉え直す活動,参加者による共同作業で構成する。この結果,コース終了後の参加者の期待にはある程度教師の目指す教育理念が反映された。一方で初日以降の参加を見送った人もあり,彼らは教師のねらいに共感できなかった,あるいは参加に困難があったと推測され,導入のあり方や多言語対応に課題を残した。
