To analyze the macroscopic distribution characteristics of global wave, based on the FHDI-GNWM global wave data from 2011 to 2015, a study was conducted on the global significant wave height Hs, spectral peak period Tp, and main wave direction Dmain. The study shows that the global average of significant wave height Hs generally exhibits a characteristic of being greater in the southern hemisphere than in the northern hemisphere, and in the southern hemisphere, there is an obvious high- value area of significant wave height Hs with an average value greater than 3.6 m, which corresponds to the Antarctic Circumpolar Current region. There are significant differences in the macroscopic distribution characteristics of wave height for the major oceans worldwide, such as the Northwest Pacific, East Pacific, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, and Indian Ocean. The average spectral peak period Tp in most of the world's oceans is greater than 12 s, and Tp on the west coast of each continent is significantly greater than on the east coast. The distribution pattern of the primary wave direction worldwide is not obvious, and there are significant differences in the main wave direction in different sea areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
