1. Analytical Bounds for an Interval Kalman Filter

Abstract: International audience; This paper is concerned with analytical developments of results firstly introduced by the authors in [1]. These developments are devoted to the optimization of upper bounds of the interval covariance matrices appearing in the Interval Kalman Filter [2]. The proposed study is mainly highlighted through two aspects. Firstly, the optimization is further performed by considering a class of upper bounds and minimizing the traces of these bounds in two stages (in terms of a gain matrix and then with respect to a scalar parameter). Secondly, the paper provides conditions under which the optimal trace value is controlled and hence the proposed Algorithm in [1], namely Optimal Upper Bound Interval Kalman Filter (OUBIKF), is ensured to perform with stability (i.e. without width explosion of the resulting interval estimators). Also under these conditions, the OUBIKF Algorithm, having a similar structure of the Standard Kalman Filter (SKF), is ensured to get a smaller trace upper bound of the covariance matrices in the correction step than the one in the prediction step. Numerical simulations based on anautomotive model is performed to illustrate the developed results.

Abstract: Identifiability guarantees that the mathematical model of a dynamic system is well defined in the sense that it maps unambiguously its parameters to the output trajectories. This paper casts identifiability in a set-membership (SM) framework and relates recently introduced properties, namely, SM-identifiability, μ-SM-identifiability, and ε-SM-identifiability, to the properties of parameter estimation problems. Soundness and ε-consistency are proposed to characterize these problems and the solution returned by the algorithm used to solve them. This paper also contributes by carefully motivating and comparing SM-identifiability, μ-SM-identifiability and ε-SM-identifiability with related properties found in the literature, and by providing a method based on differential algebra to check these properties.

Abstract: International audience; The GEO-SAFE project gathers researchers and fire emergency practitioners from EU and Australia with the aim to design innovative models and efficient response tools based on optimization methods for fighting wildfires. In this paper, we consider an evacuation planning problem issued from discussions with practitioners, where a wildfire is threatening a region with intermediate populated centres. As in earlier approaches in case of flood, we use a constraint optimization model involving malleable tasks to represent the evacuation of a population and a cumulative constraint per route segments. Indeed, in order to mitigate congestion risks, the authorities may delay the start of the evacuation but they may also affect the rate of evacuation by modulating the method used to raise the alarm. However, we consider a different objective: we maximize the minimum " safety margin " , weighted by the population, over every road segment. We introduce a new heuristic and a global flow constraint propa-gator. Moreover, we also propose an instance generator based on a random generation of road networks and basic fire propagation models. This generator produces challenging benchmarks even with very few evacuation tasks. Finally, we report the results of extensive computational experiments done using CP Optimizer.

Abstract: International audience; One critical part of decision support during the response phase to a wildfire is the ability to perform large-scale evacuation planning. While in practice most evacuation planning is principally designed by experts using simple heuristic approaches or scenario simulations, more recently optimization approaches to evacuation planning have been carried out, notably in the context of floodings. Evacuation planning in case of wildfires is much harder as wildfire propagations are inherently less predictable than floods. This paper present a new optimization model for evacuation planning in the event of wildfire aiming at maximizing the temporal safety margin between the evac-uees and the actual or potential wildfire front. As a first contribution, an open-source data instance generator based on road network generation via quadtrees and a basic fire propagation model is proposed to the community. As a second contribution we propose 0–1 integer programming and constraint programming formulations enhanced with a 1 simple compression heuristic that are compared on 240 problem instances build by the generator. The results show that the generated instances are computationally challenging and that the contraint programming framework obtains the best performance.

Abstract: This paper aims at identifying new challenging variants of the evacuation planning problems, especially in case of bush fires, based on exchanges with practitioners in the context of the GeoSafe project. A large amount of work has been carried out at NICTA mainly in the context of floodings, which can be easily transposed to evacuation in case of fires. .We present a state-of-the-art review of these papers and we provide new research directions for the GeoSafe project.

Abstract: International audience; This paper deals with optimal input design for parameter estimation in a bounded-error context. Uncertain controlled nonlinear dynamical models, when the input can be parametrized by a finite number of parameters, are considered. The main contribution of this paper concerns criteria for obtaining optimal inputs in this context. Two input design criteria are proposed and analysed. They involve sensitivity functions. The first criterion requires the inversion of the Gram matrix of sensitivity functions. The second one does not require this inversion and is then applied for parameter estimation of a model taken from the aeronautical domain. The estimation results obtained using an optimal input are compared with those obtained with an input optimized in a more classical context (Gaussian measurement noise and parameters a priori known to belong to some boxes). These results highlight the potential of optimal input design in a bounded-error context.

Abstract: International audience; This chapter presents a new methodology to perform health monitoring of hybrid systems under uncertainty. Hybrid systems can be represented as multi-mode systems with hybrid automata. Diagnosers are generated from these hybrid automata using a new data structure in order to monitor both the behavior and degradation of such systems. After a review of the state of the art on different existing solutions for diagnosis of hybrid systems under uncertainty, we propose to introduce the Hybrid Particle Petri Nets (HPPN) modeling framework. The main advantage of HPPN is that they take into account knowledge-based uncertainty in the system representation and uncertainty in the diagnosis process. The HPPN-based diagnoser deals with occurrences of unobservable discrete events (such as fault events) and it is robust to false observations. It also estimates the continuous state of the system by using particle filtering. A methodology is proposed to perform model-based diagnosis on hybrid systems by using the HPPN modeling framework. The system diagnosis is computed at any time from a HPPN-based diagnoser and contains all the hypotheses over its past mode trajectory. Each hypothesis is valued with a belief degree and includes discrete and continuous state estimates, as well as the set of faults that occurred on the system up to the current time. The HPPN-based methodology is demonstrated with an application on the K11 planetary rover prototype developed by NASA Ames Research Center. A hybrid model of the K11 is proposed and experimental results show that the approach is robust to real system data and constraints.

Abstract: National audience; This thesis deals with state estimation in discrete-time dynamic systems in the context of the integration of statistical and bounded error uncertainties. Motivated by the drawbacks of the interval Kalman filter (IKF) and its improvement (iIKF), we propose a filtering algorithm for linear systems subject to uncertain Gaussian noises, i.e. with the mean and covariance matrix defined by their membership to intervals. This new interval Kalman filter (UBIKF) relies on finding a punctual gain matrix minimizing an upper bound of the set of estimation error covariance matrices by respecting the bounds of the parametric uncertainties. An envelope containing all possible estimates is then determined using interval analysis. The UBIKF reduces not only the computational complexity of the set inversion of the matrices intervals appearing in the iIKF, but also the conservatism of the estimates. We then discuss different frameworks for representing incomplete or imprecise knowledge, including the cumulative distribution functions, the possibility theory and the theory of belief functions. Thanks to the last, a model in the form of a mass function for an uncertain multivariate Gaussian distribution is proposed. A box particle filter based on this theory is developed for non-linear dynamic systems in which the process noises are bounded and the measurement errors are represented by an uncertain Gaussian mass function. Finally, the UBIKF is applied to fault detection and isolation by implementing the generalized observer scheme and structural analysis. Through various examples, the capacity for detecting and isolating sensor/actuator faults of this tool is illustrated and compared to other approaches.; Cette thèse porte sur l’estimation d’état des systèmes dynamiques à temps discret dans le contexte de l’intégration d’incertitudes statistiques et à erreurs bornées. Partant du filtre de Kalman intervalle (IKF) et de son amélioration (iIKF), nous proposons un algorithme de filtrage pour des systèmes linéaires dont les bruits sont gaussiens incertains, c’est-à-dire de moyenne et matrice de covariance définies par leur appartenance à des intervalles. Ce nouveau filtre de Kalman intervalle (UBIKF) repose sur la recherche d’une matrice de gain ponctuelle minimisant une borne majorante de l’ensemble des matrices de covariance de l’erreur d’estimation en respectant les bornes des incertitudes paramétriques. Un encadrement de tous les estimés possibles est ensuite déterminé en utilisant l’analyse par intervalles. Le filtre UBIKF permet de réduire à la fois la complexité calculatoire de l’inversion ensembliste des matrices intervalles présent dans le filtre iIKF et le conservatisme des estimations. Nous abordons ensuite différents cadres permettant de représenter des connaissances incomplètes ou imprécises, y compris les fonctions de répartition, la théorie de possibilité et la théorie des fonctions de croyance. Grâce à cette dernière, un modèle sous forme d’une fonction de masse pour une distribution gaussienne multivariée incertaine est proposé. Un filtrage particulaire ensembliste basé sur cette théorie est développé pour des systèmes dynamiques non linéaires dans lesquels les bruits sur la dynamique sont bornés et les erreurs de mesure sont modélisées par une fonction de masse gaussienne incertaine. Enfin, le filtre UBIKF est utilisé pour la détection et l’isolation de défauts en mettant en oeuvre le schéma d’observateurs généralisé et l’analyse structurelle. Au travers de différents exemples, la capacité d’isolation de défauts capteurs/ actionneurs de cet outil est illustrée et comparée à d’autre approches.

Abstract: Thèse en cotutelle avec l'Universidad de los Andes, Colombie; National audience; This thesis work was carried out in the framework of a co-tutelle between INSA, Toulouse, and the University of the Andes, Colombia, with financial support of Colciencias. This work is motivated by the need of the industry to detect abnormal situations in the plant startup and shutdown stages. Industrial plants involve integrated management of all the events that may cause accidents and translate into alarms. Process alarm management can be formulated as an event-based pattern recognition problem in which temporal patterns are used to characterize different typical situations, particularly at startup and shutdown stages. In this thesis, a new approach for alarm management based on a diagnosis process is proposed. Considering the alarms and the actions of the standard operating procedure as discrete events, the diagnosis step relies on situation recognition to provide the operators with relevant information about the failures inducing the alarm flow. The situation recognition is based on chronicles that characterize the situations of interest and are learned automatically. The chronicles are learned from representative event sequences obtained by simulation and given as input to an extended version of the Heuristic Chronicle Discovery Algorithm Modified (HCDAM). HCDAM has been extended in this thesis to account for expert knowledge in the form of specific temporal restrictions. A hybrid causal model of the process is used to verify the input event sequences and to explain and provide semantics to the learned chronicles. The Chronicle Based Alarm Management (CBAM) methodology proposed in this thesis involves different techniques to take the hybrid aspect and the standard operational procedures of the concerned processes into account. Compared to other approaches of alarm management, this approach uses information about the procedural actions related to the continuous variables behavior in a formal diagnosis process. Specific information is obtained in each step of the CBAM methodology, and it is summarized in three steps: 1. Step 1: Event type identification From the standard operating procedures and from the evolution of the continuous variables, this step determines the set of event types in startup and shutdown stages. 2. Step 2: Event sequence generation From the expertise and an event abstraction procedure this step determines the date of occurrence of each event type for constructing the representative event sequences. A representative event sequence is the set of event types with their dates of occurrence that can be associated to a specific scenario of the process. This step concludes verifying the representative event sequences using the hybrid causal graph. 3. Step 3: Chronicle database construction From the representative event sequences and temporal restrictions of each scenario, this step determines the chronicle database using the extended HCDAM algorithm. The proposed framework for alarm management is illustrated with two case studies representative of the petrochemical field.; Ce travail de thèse a été réalisé dans le cadre d’une thèse en co-tutelle entre l’INSA, Toulouse, et l’Université des Andes, Colombie, avec un financement de Colciencias. Ce travail est motivé par la nécessité pour l’industrie de détecter des situations anormales pendant les phases de démarrage et d’arrêt des installations. La sécurité des installations industrielles implique une gestion intégrée de tous les facteurs et événements pouvant causer des accidents. La gestion des alarmes peut être formulée comme un problème de reconnaissance de motifs événementiels dans lequel des modèles temporels sont utilisés pour caractériser différentes situations typiques, en particulier pendant les phases de démarrage et d’arrêt. Dans cette thèse une nouvelle approche de gestion des alarmes basée sur un processus de diagnostic est proposée. En supposant que les alarmes et les actions du mode opératoire standard sont des événements discrets, l’étape de diagnostic repose sur la reconnaissance de situation pour fournir aux opérateurs des informations pertinentes sur les défaillances induisant le flux d’alarmes. La reconnaissance de situation est basée sur des chroniques qui caractérisent les situations d’interdit et qui sont apprises de manière automatique. Les chroniques sont apprises à partir de séquences d’événements représentatives obtenues par simulation et constituant l’entrée d’une version étendue de l’Algorithme de Découverte de Chroniques Heuristique Modifié (HCDAM). HCDAM a été étendu dans cette thèse pour prendre en compte des connaissances expertes sous la forme de restrictions temporelles spécifiques. Un modèles hybride causal du procédé est utilisé pour vérifier les séquences d’entrée et pour expliquer et donner du sens aux chroniques apprises. La méthodologie de gestion des alarmes basée sur des chroniques CBAM (comme Chronicle Based Alarm Management ) proposée dans cette thèse fusionne différentes techniques pour tenir compte de l’aspect hybride et des procédures opérationnelles standard des processus concernés. Comparée aux autres approches de gestion d’alarmes, cette approche se caractérise par l’utilisation de l’information sur les actions procédurales liées au comportement des variables continues dans un processus formel de diagnostic. Des informations spécifiques sont obtenues à chaque étape de la méthodologie CBAM qui se résume en trois étapes : 1. Étape 1 : Identification du type d’événement à partir des procédures d’exploitation standard et de l’évolution des variables continues, cette étape détermine l’ensemble des types d’événements pendant les phases de démarrage et d’arrêt. 2. Étape 2 : Génération de séquence d’événements à partir de l’expertise et d’une procédure d’abstraction événementielle, cette étape détermine la date d’apparition de chaque type d’événement pour la construction des séquences d’événements représentatives. Une séquence d’événements représentatifs est l’ensemble des types d’événements avec leurs dates d’occurrence qui peuvent être associées à un scénario spécifique du processus. Cette étape se conclut avec la vérification des séquences d’événements représentatives à l’aide du modèle causal hybride. 3. Étape 3 : Construction de la base de chroniques à partir des séquences d’événements représentatives et des restrictions temporelles dans chaque scénario, cette étape détermine la base de chroniques à l’aide de l’algorithme HCDAM. La methode proposée pour la gestion des alarmes est illustrée par deux cas d’etude representatifs du domaine pétrochimique.

Abstract: International audience; Diagnosability is the property of a system to have sufficient observable information to guarantee the diagnosis of a fault. Here, the considered fault is a timed fault, i.e. an unobservable event that occurs in bounded time since the start of the system. Starting with a system modeled as a Time Petri net that is not diagnosable, this work proposes a method that provides adjustments by restriction of static time intervals to ensure the system becomes ∆-diagnosable for that fault. These adjustments are characterized by a set of constraints over interval bounds and then provide a set of solutions, if any, to ensure the diagnosability of the system.

Abstract: International audience; An enlargement of the Adaptive degrees of freedom χ2-statistics (ADFC) method to fault detection for nonlinear systems with mixed uncertainties (stochastic and bounded uncertainties) is presented in this paper. Abstract: International audience; This paper concerns the estimation of the sideslip dynamics of automotive vehicles in a bounded-error framework. This work considers the linear varying parameter (LPV) model of an automotive vehicle in a polytopic form. This model is obtained by considering the dependency of the model with respect to the vehicle speed as a varying parameter. Since this parameter belongs to a bounded interval (the vehicle speed is obviously bounded by constructor constraints), interval analysis tools propose efficient approaches for estimating the vehicle unmeasured dynamics in all situations. Indeed, in this paper, an estimation strategy is developed to reconstruct the vehicle sideslip dynamical behaviour and then proceed to a stability analysis of the car based on the driving situation. Simulations performed on a nonlinear vehicle model and its parameters (validated by an experimental procedure on a real Renault Megane Coupé) are used to validate the estimation strategy and highlight its efficiency.

Abstract: National audience; Un système dynamique Booléen (SDB) représente l'évolution au cours du temps des interactions dans un ré-seau fini d'entités. La représentation des réseaux de ré-gulation de gènes, c'est à dire des interactions entre les gènes/protéines d'une cellule, en est un exemple. Dans ce domaine des théorèmes fondateurs ont porté sur les cycles d'interactions et l'étude des cycles, circuits et point fixes est fondamentale. Des travaux ont été fait sur la représentation de certains réseaux biologiques en utilisant des formalismes non-monotones, en particulier la logique de défauts ou les ASP. Mais une représentation des SDB par la plupart des formalismes non-monotones n'est pas satisfaisante, car elle ne permet pas de représenter les cycles stables et instables. Ici on représente les cycles en utilisant la logique des hypothèses qui généralise la logique des défauts. Pour cette logique on a toujours des extensions mais certaines d'entre elles, les extensions fantômes, vont jouer un rôle particulier pour la représentation et la gestion des cycles. L'article donne une représentation des SDB en logique des hypothèses. Le but est de permettre de discriminer les états stables, les cycles stables et instables.

Abstract: International audience; Before a system is put into operation and eventually diagnosed, diagnosability analysis is an important stage. Diagnosability indeed guarantees that the sensored values delivered by the available instrumentation can be processed into an appropriate set of symptoms allowing to discriminate a reasonable set of faulty situations. A fault is considered as an additional parameter that impacts the behavior of some components of the system. Its effects may be linear or non-linear. Functional diagnosability, introduced in [1], and extended to set-membership (SM) functional diagnosability in [2] was analyzed through parameter identifiability. Abstract: International audience; Health monitoring of current complex systems significantly impacts the total cost of the system. Centralized fault diagnosis architectures are sometimes prohibitive for large-scale interconnected systems, such as distribution systems, telecommunication networks, water distribution networks, or fluid power systems. Confidentiality constraints are also an issue. This article presents a decentralized fault diagnosis method that only requires the knowledge of local models and limited knowledge of their neighboring subsystems. The method, implemented in the decentralized diagnoser design (D³) algorithm, is based on structural analysis and can advantageously be applied to high-dimensional systems, linear or nonlinear. Using the concept of isolation on request, a hierarchy is built according to diagnostic objectives. The resulting diagnoser is based on analytical redundancy relations (ARRs) generated along the hierarchy. Their number is optimized via binary integer linear programming (BILP) while still guaranteeing maximal diagnosability at each level. D³ proves of lower time complexity than its centralized equivalent. It is successfully applied to a nonlinear combined cycle gas-turbine power plant.

Abstract: International audience; Diagnosis in PV systems aims to detect, locate and identify faults. Diagnosing these faults is vital to guarantee energy production and extend the useful life of PV power plants. In the literature, multiple machine learning approaches have been proposed for this purpose. However, few of these works have paid special attention to the detection of fine faults and the specialized process of extraction and selection of features for their classification. A fine fault is one whose characteristic signature is difficult to distinguish to that of a healthy panel. As a contribution to the detection of fine faults (especially of the snail trail type), this article proposes an innovative approach based on the Random Forest (RF) algorithm. This approach uses a complex feature extraction and selection method that improves the computational time of fault classification while maintaining high accuracy.

Abstract: International audience; The increase in the use of photovoltaic (PV) energy in the world has shown that the useful life and maintenance of a PV plant directly depend on theability to quickly detect severe faults on a PV plant. To solve this problem of detection, data based approaches have been proposed in the literature.However, these previous solutions consider only specific behavior of one or few faults. Most of these approaches can be qualified as supervised, requiring an enormous labelling effort (fault types clearly identified in each technology). In addition, most of them are validated in PV cells or one PV module. That is hardly applicable in large-scale PV plants considering their complexity. Alternatively, some unsupervised well-known approaches based on data try to detect anomalies but are not able to identify precisely the type of fault. The most performant of these methods do manage to efficiently group healthy panels and separate them from faulty panels. In that way, this article presents an unsupervised approach called DTW K-means. This approach takes advantages of both the dynamic time warping (DWT) metric and the Kmeans clustering algorithm as a data-driven approach. The results of this mixed method in a PV string are compared to diagnostic labels established by visual inspection of the panels.

Abstract: International audience; This paper introduces the concept of functional diagnosability for nonlinear dynamical uncertain models. Set-membership functional diagnosability is based on the notion of functional signature introduced in [11] extended to the set-membership framework. The link between functional diagnosability and set-membership functional diagnosability is established. Contrary to classical definitions, the study of functional diagnosability highlights some of the residual properties related to the fault acting on the system in time. Set-membership functional diagnosability extends this concept to bounded faults, i.e. faults whose magnitude is unknown but belongs to a bounded set. Numerical simulations for a system based on water tanks illustrate the potential of set-membership functional diagnosability.

Abstract: International audience; Background and Objective: This paper deals with the improvement of parameter estimation in terms of precision and computational time for dynamical models in a bounded error context. Methods: To improve parameter estimation, an optimal initial state design is proposed combined with a contractor. This contractor is based on a volumetric criterion and an original condition initializing this contractor is given. Based on a sensitivity analysis, our optimal initial state design methodology consists in searching the minimum value of a proposed criterion for the interested parameters. In our framework, the uncertainty (on measurement noise and parameters) is supposed unknown but belongs to known bounded intervals. Thus guaranteed state and sensitivity estimation have been considered. An elementary effect analysis on the number of sampling times is also implemented to achieve the fast and guaranteed parameter estimation. Results: The whole procedure is applied to a pharmacokinetics model and simulation results are given. Conclusions: The good improvement of parameter estimation in terms of computational time and precision for the case study highlights the potential of the proposed methodology.

Abstract: Background Personalized medicine has become a priority in breast cancer patient management. In addition to the routinely used clinicopathological characteristics, clinicians will have to face an increasing amount of data derived from tumor molecular profiling. The aims of this study were to develop a new gene selection method based on a fuzzy logic selection and classification algorithm, and to validate the gene signatures obtained on breast cancer patient cohorts. Methods We analyzed data from four published gene expression datasets for breast carcinomas. We identified the best discriminating genes by comparing molecular expression profiles between histologic grade 1 and 3 tumors for each of the training datasets. The most pertinent probes were selected and used to define fuzzy molecular grade 1-like (good prognosis) and fuzzy molecular grade 3-like (poor prognosis) profiles. To evaluate the prognostic performance of the fuzzy grade signatures in breast cancer tumors, a Kaplan-Meier analysis was conducted to compare the relapse-free survival deduced from histologic grade and fuzzy molecular grade classification. Results We applied the fuzzy logic selection on breast cancer databases and obtained four new gene signatures. Analysis in the training public sets showed good performance of these gene signatures for grade (sensitivity from 90% to 95%, specificity 67% to 93%). To validate these gene signatures, we designed probes on custom microarrays and tested them on 150 invasive breast carcinomas. Good performance was obtained with an error rate of less than 10%. For one gene signature, among 74 histologic grade 3 and 18 grade 1 tumors, 88 cases (96%) were correctly assigned. Interestingly histologic grade 2 tumors (n = 58) were split in these two molecular grade categories. Conclusion We confirmed the use of fuzzy logic selection as a new tool to identify gene signatures with good reliability and increased classification power. This method based on artificial intelligence algorithms was successfully applied to breast cancers molecular grade classification allowing histologic grade 2 classification into grade 1 and grade 2 like to improve patients prognosis. It opens the way to further development for identification of new biomarker combinations in other applications such as prediction of treatment response. Abstract: International audience; This paper introduces an original definition of diagnosability for nonlinear dynamical models called functional di-agnosability. Fault diagnosability characterizes the faults that can be discriminated using the available sensors in a system. The functional diagnosability definition proposed in this paper is based on analytical redundancy relations obtained from differential algebra tools. Contrary to classical definitions, the study of functional diagnosability highlights some of the analytical redundancy relations properties related to the fault acting on the system. Additionally, it gives a criterion for detecting the faults. Interestingly, the proposed diagnosability definition is closely linked to the notion of identifiability, which establishes an unambiguous mapping between the parameters and the output trajecto-ries of a model. This link allows us to provide a sufficient condition for testing functional diagnosability of a system. Numerical simulations attest the relevance of the suggested approach.

Abstract: International audience; Checking the diagnosability of a time discrete event system usually consists in determining whether a single fault event can always be identified with certainty after a finite amount of time. The aim of this paper is to extend this type of analysis to more complex behaviors, called event patterns, and to propose an effective method to check diagnosability with the use of modelchecking techniques. To do so, we propose to convert the pattern diagnosability problem into checking a linear-time property over a specific time Petri net. Note to Practitioners-This paper is motivated by the problem of improving the monitoring and the supervision of systems like automated and robotised manufacturing systems. Based on a model of the system, the paper proposes a method to assert with certainty whether the available set of sensors will always provide enough information to ensure that a complex and unexpected behavior has not happened in the system. The proposed method uses a publicly available model-checking tool to perform this analysis.

Abstract: International audience; Predictive process monitoring is at the intersection of machine learning and process mining. This subfield of process mining leverages historical data generated from process executions to make predictions about the ongoing process. One of the predictive process monitoring tasks with high interest is predicting the remaining cycle time of process instances. Recently, deep neural networks, particularly long short-term memory, have attracted much attention due to their ability to learn relevant features automatically and predict with high accuracy. While these models require data defined in the Euclidean space, graph neural networks have the advantage of handling data that can be represented as graphs. This paper proposes the use of graph neural network models to predict the remaining cycle time, which has not yet been studied in the literature. The proposed models are evaluated on real-life event logs and compared to a state-of-the-art long short-term memory model. The results show that graph neural network models can improve prediction accuracy, particularly for complex processes.

Abstract: National audience; The miniaturization of electronic components was one of the major improvements that happened during the last decades. Space agencies followed this trend and satellites became more and more complex. However, by reducing the size of their components, satellites became subject to space radiation. Indeed, satellites aren't protected by the atmosphere and defects caused by energetic particles can happen. These events are called "Single Event Effect" (SEE). Their consequences range from a functional interruption of the component to its destruction. Therefore it is important to protect the satellites against them. However, Single Event Effects are random and can take many forms, thus detecting and preventing them is complicated. Nowadays, protection methods are based on hardening methods, that modify the fabrication process of a component. The major inconvenience is that hardened components are complex to design, and heavy engineering studies are mandatory. As a consequence, the price increased significantly. Moreover, the use of hardened components decreased significantly with the new space era that prevails since the 21st century. Alternatively, a threshold protection method exists to prevent destructive single event effects to harm the component. However, not all faults can be detected by the sole use of this method. In conclusion, new technics need to be developed to detect single event effects.Anomaly detection is a sub-field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its aims at detecting patterns that deviate from a well-defined normal behaviour. To do so, a model is trained on known data to be able to generalise and predict the system's future behaviour. It is then possible to pinpoint abnormal observations occurring in the system. These approaches are called data-based methods, and differ from model-based approaches, as they do not require an overall knowledge of the system. These methods proved to be efficient in many fields, but are yet to be applied to single event effects detection.This manuscript details a work done to evaluate the performance of machine learning on the detection of single event effects for space applications. For this purpose, two distinctive types of research were conducted. First, single event effects characteristics are studied on an ATMEL SAM3X8E microcontroller. A significant database has been created, mixing both experimentation and simulation data. In addition, a thorough analysis of the impact of single event effects on the supply current is made to extract the most meaningful features.Following the groundwork laid by the first study, machine learning performance are thoroughly studied for the detection of single event effects. A proof of concept is done by using most common anomaly detection methods. It is demonstrated that the performance of machine learning is on par with today's threshold methods, outperforming it for the detection of non-destructive single event effects. From there, a specific algorithm is developed. Called Dynamic Double anomaly Detection (DyD²), this algorithm meets space applications requirements. Extensive experiments have been conducted to test DyD² on simulated data, as well as real-time on-board application with the ATMEL SAM3X8E, that proved that DyD² is a valid alternative to today's detection methods.; Les satellites n'étant pas protégés par l'atmosphère terrestre sont soumis aux radiations spatiales. L'un des effets est l'apparition de perturbations liées à une particule isolées. D'un arrêt temporaire du composant, jusqu'à la destruction de celui-ci, les effets sont variés, et c'est pourquoi il est important de protéger les composants électroniques utilisés lors d'une mission spatiale. Aujourd'hui, la méthode de prédilection se base sur le durcissement des composants. Un composant durci voit sa conception modifiée pour se prémunir des perturbations liées à une particule isolés. Cependant, une ingénierie complexe est nécessaire, ce qui se répercute sur le prix des composants. Avec la nouvelle ère spatiale qui a débuté au 21ème siècle, L'utilisation de composants durcis diminue, au profit de composants moins couteux. Une alternative au durcissement consiste en une méthode de détection à seuil. Plus générale et moins couteuse, elle ne peut néanmoins pas détecter tous les types de défauts. De ce fait, de nouvelles méthodes sont nécessaires pour préserver l’intégrité des composants lors de missions spatiales.La détection d’anomalies est un domaine appartenant à l’intelligence artificielle et à l’apprentissage automatique. L’objectif est de mettre en évidence des comportements qui dévient du fonctionnement nominal d’un système. Pour ce faire, un algorithme est entrainé sur des données d’apprentissage afin de modéliser et prédire le comportement du système. A partir de ce modèle, il est possible d’identifier les comportements anormaux, et d’agir en conséquence. Cette approche basée données se distingue du fait qu’elle ne nécessite pas de connaissances préalables du système étudié. Avec la montée en popularité des méthodes d’intelligence artificielle, de nombreuses applications ont démontrées l‘efficacité de ces méthodes de détection d’anomalies.Ce manuscrit détaille le travail réalisé visant à démontrer l’intérêt des méthodes d’apprentissages automatiques pour la détection des défauts provoqués par des particules isolées. Dans ce but, deux travaux de recherches ont été menés. Premièrement, l’impact des radiations a été étudié sur le microcontrôleur ATMEL SAM3X8E. En conséquence, une base de données a été créé, contenant des données obtenues par simulation, ainsi que des données expérimentales réalisées lors de ces travaux de thèse. De plus, une étude a été réalisé afin de déterminer les caractéristiques principales des fautes induites par des particules isolées.Grâce à cette première partie, il a été possible démarrer la deuxième étude portant sur l’apprentissage automatique. La première étape a été d’établir une démonstration de faisabilité. Différents algorithmes de détection d’anomalies ont été mis à l’essai. Il a ainsi été démontré l’efficacité de ces méthodes pour cette problématique. À la suite de cela, un algorithme a été développé afin de répondre aux spécifications du domaine spatial. Nommé « Double Détection d’anomalies Dynamique » (DyD²), cette nouvelle méthode permet la détection en temps réel des défauts liés aux particules isolées. Des études sur des données de simulations, ainsi que des expériences embarquant DyD² sur microcontrôleur ont permis de prouver que DyD² est une alternative solide aux méthodes de détection actuellement utilisées par l’industrie spatiale.

Abstract: International audience; The importance of sleep analysis lies in the preventive detection of health problems. Several types of research and scientific studies have shown that memory problems and cognitive problems are the direct results of poor quality sleep. Cognitive frailty is not the only frailty influenced by the lack or poor quality of sleep. Frailty can be defined as a lack of physiological reserves that no longer allow us to respond to needs or too stressful situations (illness, hospitalization, fall, etc.). In this article, we will present a part of our research work that aims to have a collaborative data analysis approach for the detection of entry into a state of fragility that will lead to becoming a resident in a nursing home, by using two different machine learning methods; supervised and non-supervised classification. We will use as inputs several sleep data.

Abstract: International audience; With the increase of component complexity, protection against single event effects becomes a critical point for the disponibility and reliability of space systems. In this paper, machine learning is investigated to improve the detection of radiation faults. An algorithm named DYD² that meets space application requirements is proposed. In addition, a study to improve the characterisation of single event effects through feature extraction is described. Finally, results of experimentation based on a heavy-ion campaign test are discussed.

Abstract: International audience; This paper deals with parameter and state estimation in a bounded-error context for uncertain dynamical aerospace models when the input is considered optimized or not. In a bounded-error context, perturbations are assumed bounded but otherwise unknown. The parameters to be estimated are also considered bounded. The tools of the presented work are based on a guaranteed numerical set integration solver of ordinary differential equations combined with adapted set inversion computation. The main contribution of this work consists in developing procedures for parameter estimation whose performance is highly related with the input of system. In this paper, a comparison with a classical non-optimized input is proposed.

Abstract: International audience; Computing the reachable set of hybrid dynamical systems in a reliable and verified way is an important step when addressing verification or synthesis tasks. This issue is still challenging for uncertain nonlinear hybrid dynamical systems. We show in this paper how to combine a method for computing continuous transitions via interval Taylor methods and a method for computing the geometrical intersection of a flowpipe with guard sets, to build an interval method for reachability computation that can be used with truly nonlinear hybrid systems. Our method for flowpipe guard set intersection has two variants. The first one relies on interval constraint propagation for solving a constraint satisfaction problem and applies in the general case. The second one computes the intersection of a zonotope and a hyperplane and applies only when the guard sets are linear. The performance of our method is illustrated on examples involving typical hybrid systems.

Abstract: International audience; This paper addresses the problem of checkingpredictability of event patterns in labelled Petrinets. After formally introducing the predictabil-ity problem of an event pattern, a method for au-tomatically checking predictability is proposed.The proposed method has two steps. The firstone consists in checking diagnosability of eventpatterns which is a necessary condition for pre-dictability. And, if diagnosability holds, the sec-ond step is launched and concludes about thepredictability of the investigated event pattern.The proposed method uses a model-checking ap-proach and is fully implemented with the help ofa model-checking toolchain.

Abstract: International audience; The PPILOW project aims to co-construct innovations to improve Poultry and Pig Welfare in Low-input outdoor and Organic farming systems through a multi-actor approach. PPILOW implements a participatory approach for proposing and studying welfare-improvement levers. It will provide a combination of practical solutions that can be applied at a pan-European level with specific adjustments depending on citizen’s expectations and the target market. The multi-actor approach consists in involving end-users including farmers, breeding companies, feed producers, consumer associations, retailers, advisers, processors, and scientists in National Practitioner Groups (NPG) in six participating countries. PPILOW partners facilitate the groups by connecting NPG at European level, transferring scientific information, interacting with partners engaged in animal experiments, and co-creating innovations rising from NPG-specific demands. They co-build with PPILOW partners welfare self-assessment tools (development of the PIGLOW app for pigs and refinement of the EBENE® app for poultry), and innovative breeding, feeding, and rearing strategies and techniques to improve the welfare of animals. They co-design protocols, test innovations on farm, and disseminate the results. In turn, they receive insights on methods and scientific results, and inputs from other NPG reinforcing the value of the expected outcomes. Approaches focus on avoiding physical damage and the elimination of layer male chicks, on reducing boar taint of intact male pigs, promoting positive behaviours, animal health, and robustness through field studies with pigs and poultry. Multicriteria analyses of the most effective levers of welfare improvement will be performed to evaluate their economic, social, and environmental impacts based on the ‘One Welfare’ concept; economic and business models will also be developed. To ensure the rapid uptake of the project results by end-users, the close involvement of PPILOW’s NPG throughout the EU will ensure disseminationactivities and the facilitation of change. Abstract: International audience; This paper presents XGBoost classifier-based methods to solve three tasks proposed by the European Prognostics and Health Management Society (PHME) 2022 conference. These tasks are based on real data from a Surface Mount Technologies line. Each of these tasks aims to improve the efficiency of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing process, facilitate the operator's work and minimize the cases of manual intervention. Due to the structured nature of the problems proposed for each task, an XGBoost method based on encoding and feature engineering is proposed. The proposed methods utilise the fusion of test values and system characteristics extracted from two different testing equipment of the Surface Mount Technologies lines. This work also explores the problems of generalising prediction at the system level using information from the subsystem data. For this particular industrial case: the challenges with the changes in the number of subsystems. For Industry 4.0, the need for interpretability is very important. This is why the results of the models are analysed using Shapley values. With the proposed method, our team took the first place, capable of successfully detecting at an early stage the defective components for tasks 2 and 3.

Abstract: International audience; Identifiability is the property that a mathematical model must satisfy to guarantee an unambiguous mapping between its parameters and the output trajectories. It is of prime importance when parameters must be estimated from experimental data representing input–output behavior and clearly when parameter estimation is used for fault detection and identification. Definitions of identifiability and methods for checking this property for linear and nonlinear systems are now well established and, interestingly, some scarce works (Braems, Jaulin, Kieffer, & Walter, 2001; Jauberthie, Verdière, & Travé-Massuyès, 2011) have provided identifiability definitions and numerical tests in a bounded-error context. This paper resumes and better formalizes the two complementary definitions of set-membership identifiability and μ-set-membership identifiability of Jauberthie et al. (2011) and presents a method applicable to nonlinear systems for checking them. This method is based on differential algebra and makes use of relations linking the observations, the inputs and the unknown parameters of the system. Using these results, a method for fault detection and identification is proposed. The relations mentioned above are used to estimate the uncertain parameters of the model. By building the parameter estimation scheme on the analysis of identifiability, the solution set is guaranteed to reduce to one connected set, avoiding this way the pessimism of classical set-membership estimation methods. Fault detection and identification are performed at once by checking the estimated values against the parameter nominal ranges. The method is illustrated with an example describing the capacity of a macrophage mannose receptor to endocytose a specific soluble macromolecule.

Abstract: Outlier detection is a subject of interest in data mining. During the last decade, the amount of domains featuring data streams grew a lot. Those data streams come with peculiarities that outlier detection methods have to deal with. That is why various methods adapted to the online outlier detection problem have been developed. This article presents a survey on outlier detection unsupervised methods for data streams and discusses the lack of metrics allowing to evaluate and compare these methods., La détection d'anomalies est un sujet d'intérêt en fouille de données. Ces dernières années, le nombre d'applications reposant sur des flux continus de données se multiplie. Ces flux de données sont accompagnés de spécificités dont les algorithmes de détection d'anomalies doivent tenir compte. Pour cette raison, de nombreuses méthodes adaptées à la détection en ligne ont vu le jour. Cet article présente un tour d'horizon des méthodes de détection non supervisées appliquées aux flux de données et discute de l'insuffisance de métriques permettant d'évaluer et comparer ces méthodes.

Abstract: International audience; Anomaly detection is a crucial aspect of embedded applications. However, limited computational power, evolving environments or lack of training data are difficulties that can limit anomaly detection algorithms. Anomaly detection can be performed by one class classification algorithms to remove the need for anomalous data in the training set. This paper presents a new machine learning algorithm for anomaly detection called Dynamic Double anomaly Detection Dyd². A thorough description of Dyd² is performed. Then an experimental evaluation is set up to compare Dyd² to state-of-the-art algorithms.

Abstract: International audience; A numerical parameter estimation method, based on input-output integro-differential polynomials in a bounded-error framework is investigated in this paper. More precisely, the measurement noise and parameters belong to connected sets (in the proposed work, intervals). First, this method, based on the Rosenfeld–Groebner elimination algorithm, is presented. The latter provides differential equations containing derivatives, sometimes of high order. In order to improve the numerical results, a pretreatment of the differential relations is done and consists in integration. The new relations contain, essentially, integrals depending only on the outputs. In comparison with the initial relations, they are less sensitive to measurement noise. Finally, the impact of the size of the measurement noise domain on the estimated intervals is studied.

Abstract: International audience; This paper is concerned with an active fault diagnosis method is developed based on an adaptive fault detection approach using χ 2-statistics [1]. The system under consideration is linear discrete time-variant with sensor faults in the framework of mixed uncertainties (stochastic noises and bounded uncertainty for parameter matrices). The proposed method enhances the fault detection performance and provides the ability of localization and estimation of the detected fault. It provides also an on-line fault diagnosis with no delay in time instant with the computation time depending only on the computer performance.

Abstract: The objective of this thesis, funded as a CIFRE contract with STMicroelectronics Crolles, is to develop methodologies and decision support tools that allow the efficient management of production flows in the Crolles300 plant by detecting, as early as possible, any slowdowns or even delays in an automated production line for all products. In this work, we first describe how semiconductor factories operate, how planning is performed on complex production lines and how planning softwares actually create production plans. This industrial business is subject to a strong variability and the analysis of this variability has led us to assert that the detection of time drifts between the real production flow and the plan could be only achieved by comparing flows at the elementary operational level of the production line. To solve this problem, we propose to define a set of formal model-based diagnostic methods over systems that can modeled as Timed Event Graph (TEG) in order to detect and localize time drifts. TEGs are a subclass of time Petri nets that graphically represent (max,+)-linear systems. Two detection methods are then proposed. The first one is based on (max,+) observers that estimate the current state of the system facing time disturbances. This method can also be used to localize time drifts in (max,+)-linear systems. The second proposed method applies to linear (max,+)-systems with bounded uncertain time, i.e. systems whose waiting time in state is no longer punctual but belongs to a time interval. Finally, the use of both methods is illustrated on an example using real data from the production line., L’objectif de cette thèse en contrat CIFRE avec STMicroelectronics Crolles est de développer des méthodologies et des outils d’aide à la décision permettant de gérer efficacement les flux de production de l'usine Crolles300 en détectant au plus tôt les ralentissements voire les retards d’une ligne automatisée de production sur l’ensemble des produits. Dans ces travaux, on décrit dans un premier temps le fonctionnement des usines de semi-conducteurs, les principes de planification sur des chaînes de production complexes et en particulier le fonctionnement des outils de planification. Ce contexte industriel est sujet à une forte variabilité et son analyse a permis d’identifier que la détection des retards entre la production et la planification ne pouvait se faire par comparaison qu’au niveau élémentaire des opérations sur la chaîne de production. Pour résoudre ce problème, on propose de définir un ensemble de méthodes formelles de diagnostic à base de modèle en s’appuyant sur la modélisation du système à l’aide du formalisme des Graphes d’Événements Temporisés (GET) en vue de détecter et de localiser des dérives temporelles. Les GET sont une sous-classe des réseaux de Petri temporels qui permet de représenter graphiquement des systèmes (max,+)-linéaires. Deux méthodes de détection sont proposées. La première est définie à l’aide d’observateurs (max,+) permettant d’estimer l’état courant du système faisant face à des perturbations. Cette méthode peut également être exploitée pour localiser la dérive temporelle dans le système (max,+)-linéaire. La seconde méthode proposée s’applique sur des systèmes (max,+) linéaires à temps incertain borné, c’est-à-dire des systèmes dont les temps d’attente dans les états ne sont plus fixes mais appartenant à des intervalles. Enfin, l’utilisation de ces deux méthodes est illustrée sur un exemple en s’appuyant sur des données réelles de la chaîne de production.

Abstract: International audience; The location of the plane is key during the landing operation. A set of sensors provides data to get the best estimation of plane localization. However, data can contain anomalies. To guarantee correct behavior of the sensors, anomalies must be detected. Then, either the faulty sensor is isolated or the detected anomaly is filtered. This article presents a new neural algorithm for the detection and correction of anomalies named NADCA. This algorithm uses a compact deep learning prediction model and has been evaluated using real and simulated anomalies in real landing signals. NADCA detects and corrects both fast-changing and slow-moving anomalies; it is robust regardless of the degree of oscillation of the signals and sensors with abnormal behavior do not need to be isolated. NADCA can detect and correct anomalies in real time regardless of sensor accuracy. Likewise, NADCA can deal with simultaneous anomalies in different sensors and avoid possible problems of coupling between signals. From a technical point of view, NADCA uses a new prediction method and a new approach to obtain a smoothed signal in real time. NADCA has been developed to detect and correct anomalies during the landing of an airplane, hence improving the information presented to the pilot. Nevertheless, NADCA is a general-purpose algorithm that could be useful in other contexts. NADCA evaluation has given an average F-score value of 0.97 for anomaly detection and an average root mean square error (RMSE) value of 2.10 for anomaly correction.

Abstract: The problem of fault detection and isolation has been introduced into automatic control as a paradigm for the design of algorithms capable of detecting the occurrence of faults and isolating their causes. Many methods have been developed for the class of integer systems. In contrast, few methods have been developed for the class of fractional order systems. In this paper, a new fault detection and isolation method, based on the flatness property, is introduced for the class of fractional order linear systems to detect and isolate faults on sensors and actuators. In this method, the measurement of the so-called fractional flat output vector is used to construct the redundant components of the system and to generate fault indicators called residual signals. In addition, new definitions of fault detection and isolation are introduced. The effectiveness of this method is validated by simulations on a fractional order system, the thermal bi-dimensional system.

Abstract: The main topics of this thesis are modeling and monitoring the health of hybrid systems under uncertainties.Modeling a system is representing the system through a mathematical formalism. A new formalism, the Heteregeneous Petri Nets is introduced in this thesis. This formalism, an extension of the Petri Nets, allows to model and monitor hybrid systems under undertainties. With this formalism, it is possible to represent discrete systems, continuous systems or hybrid systems, for which a new definition is proposed. Contrary to most formalisms, the HtPN formalism allows for a communication between different types of system. Uncertainties, on the model or the observations, can be taken into account to better represent the behavior of the system. Finally, dynamics representing the aging and the wear of the system can be estimated and implemented on the model.For hybrid systems, models based on physical knowledge are often hard to obtain.Artificial intelligence is thus used to learn model from data. This learning is comprised of two steps. The first one is based on a clustering algorithm and outputs the discrete events structure of the model. The second one is based on two different regressions algorithms, support vector and random forest, and learns the continuous dynamics of the system. The choice of which regression algorithm to choose is left to the user, according to his needs.Health monitoring is usually associated to diagnosis, identifying and isolating a problem, usually referred to as a fault, or prognosis, estimating the remaining useful life of a system. An advanced diagnosis methodology, based on the HtPN formalism, is introduced and applied on three different systems. The first system considered is a discrete system. The second one is continuous and the third one is a hybrid system. The hybrid system is a system composed of connected water tanks. In this system, a fault example could be a leakage in one of the tanks. The diagnosis method is done in two steps. The first step is the prediction, which will give hypotheses on the future state of the model. The second step is the correction, in which the different hypotheses given by the first step will either be kept or forgotten, according to the observations received. The diagnosis results obtained are able to take into account uncertainties on the modeling or the observation and gives a belief on different health state hypotheses. Evaluating the degradation of the system can also be done and could be used to apply prognosis methods.Finally, a real case study is introduced. It consists in two communicating photovoltaic panels with some loads: two lamps and a motor. The two panels are modeled using the HtPN formalism. A global model is obtained using the learning method with some collected datasets. Finally, the diagnosis method is applied on data obtained by simulation of the two panels model., Cette thèse concerne la modélisation et la gestion de santé de systèmes hybrides sous incertitude.La modélisation consiste à représenter un système dans un formalisme mathématique. Cette thèse propose un formalisme, les réseaux de Petri Hétérogènes (HtPN), permettant de modéliser et surveiller des systèmes hybrides sous incertitudes. Ce formalisme est une extension des réseaux de Petri classiques et permet de représenter tous les types de systèmes. Il permet donc de représenter des systèmes purement discrets, des systèmes continus ou des systèmes hybrides, dont une définition est proposée, ainsi qu’une communication entre ces systèmes. De plus, il permet de prendre en compte des incertitudes, que ce soit au niveau du modèle ou des observations, afin de représenter au mieux le comportement du système. Le vieillissement et l’usure des systèmes peuvent être estimés et inclus dans le modèle du système sous forme de lois de dégradation.Pour ces systèmes, les modèles issus de connaissances physiques seules sont difficiles à obtenir. L’intelligence artificielle est donc utilisée pour apprendre des modèles à partir de données. Cet apprentissage de modèle est découpé en deux parties : l’apprentissage de la structure à événements discrets du modèle, basé sur un algorithme de clustering, et l’apprentissage des dynamiques d’évolutions à temps continu du système, basé sur deux algorithmes de régression, dont le choix est laissé à l’utilisateur.Par gestion de santé, on entend généralement du diagnostic, qui est de savoir identifier et isoler un problème, appelé une faute, et du pronostic, qui consiste en une estimation de la durée de vie résiduelle du système. Une méthode de diagnostic avancée, basée sur le formalisme des HtPN, est présentée et mise à l’épreuve sur trois systèmes : un système à événements discrets, un système continu et un système hybride. Ce dernier consiste en des réservoirs d’eau connectés entre eux. Une faute peut par exemple correspondre à l’apparition d’une fuite dans un des réservoirs. La méthode de diagnostic se déroule en deux étapes : une étape de prédiction, calculant les différentes hypothèses sur l’état futur du système ; et une étape de correction, dans laquelle les différentes hypothèses sont validées ou réfutées en fonction des observations reçues. Les résultats de diagnostic obtenus permettent de prendre en compte les incertitudes sur la modélisation et sur les observations et de donner des hypothèses de diagnostic pondérées. L’évaluation de la dégradation du système peut également être obtenue, menant à des informations pour le pronostic.Enfin, un cas d’étude réel, composé de deux panneaux photovoltaïques et de diverses charges est présenté. Les deux panneaux ont d'abord été modélisés avec le formalisme des HtPN. Ensuite, un modèle global a été obtenu par apprentissage. Enfin, la méthode de diagnostic avancée est appliquée sur divers cas d'utilisation, montrant la pertinence de la méthode.

Abstract: International audience; Time Petri Nets are a suitable tool for the modeling of timed Discrete Event Systems. This paper is about the diagnosability of single timed fault in Time Petri Nets. To check the existence of critical pairs, an abstraction of the systems infinite behaviours, called path, is presented as a set of observable constraints associated with a particular sequence of transitions. Properties on the set of solutions of a partition of this abstraction are then provided to check the diagnosability of the timed fault.
