We present a novel formalism to characterize elastic heterogeneities in amorphous solids. In particular, we derive high-order strain-energy expansions for pairwise energies under athermal quasistatic dynamics. We then use the presented formalism to study the statistical properties of pairwise expansion coefficients and their link with the statistics of soft, quasilocalized modes, for a wide range of formation histories in both two- and three-dimensional systems. We further exploit the presented framework to access local yield stress maps by performing a non-linear stress–strain expansion within a cavity embedded in a frozen matrix. We show that our "bond micromechanics" compare well with the original "frozen matrix" method, with the caveat of overestimating large stress activations. We additionally show how local yield rules can be used as an input for a scalar elasto-plastic model (EPM) to predict the stress response of materials ranging from ductile to brittle. Finally, we highlight some of the limits of simple mesoscale models in capturing the aging dynamics of post-yielding systems. La Short Dark Triad (SD3) est une échelle anglophone courte évaluant trois traits de personnalité de la Dark Triad (Triade Noire : Machiavélisme, Narcissime et Psychopathie). Elle a été créée, en 2013, par Delroy L. Paulhus et son équipe (University of British Columbia , Vancouver BC, Canada). Il n'en existait pas de version francophone au début de ce travail de validation. La SD3 fut donc traduite vers le français, puis rétro-traduite vers l'anglais pour la comparer à la version originale. La poursuite de la validation se fit via un questionnaire en ligne (LimeSurvey), permettant de comparer les résultats des trois sous-échelles avec les résultats aux trois échelles (validées en français) de référence (MACH-IV-fr, NPI-fr, LSRP-fr). Pour ce faire, 787 sujets ont répondu au questionnaire en ligne. Les analyses statistiques montrent une bonne cohérence interne (n = 580 et coefficient alpha de cronbach : 0,85 sur l'échelle totale, 0,78, 0,70 et 0,69 sur les sous-échelles de Machiavélisme, de Narcissisme et de Psychopathie) et une bonne validité externe de la SD3-fr ici traduite (n = 500 et Corrélation SD3 Machia avec MACHIV-fr : 0,70 ; Corrélation SD3 Narcis avec NPI-fr : 0,74 ; Corrélation SD3 Psychopathie avec LSRP-fr : 0,67). The Short Dark Triad (SD3) scale has been created by Delroy L. Paulhus and his team in 2013 (University of British Columbia, Vancouver BC, Canada). Its purpose is to provide a brief measure of three socially aversive traits known as the Dark Triad (Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy). This study aims to explore the psychometric properties of this French version of the scale and to validate this translation. The SD3 scale has been translated from English to French, then retro-translated to English again to compare it to the original version. The validation continued with an online survey (LimeSurvey) allowing to compare the results of the three sub-scales with the results of the three existing scales previously validated in French (MACH-IV-fr, NPI-fr, LSRP-fr). A total of 787 participants answered the online survey. Statistical analyzes suggest a good internal consistency (n = 580 and Cronbach's alpha coefficients: 0.85 on the full scale, 0.78, 0.70, 0.69 on the sub-scales of Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy) and a good external validity of the SD3-fr translated in the present work (n = 500 and SD3 Machia–MACHIV-fr correlation: 0.70; SD3 Narcis – NPI-fr: 0.74; SD3 Psychopathy – LSRP-fr: 0.67). It is known that many (upper) cluster algebras possess different kinds of good bases which contain the cluster monomials and are parametrized by the tropical points of cluster Poisson varieties. For a large class of upper cluster algebras (injective-reachable ones with full rank coefficients), we describe all of their bases with these properties. Moreover, we show the existence of the generic basis for them. In addition, we prove that Bridgeland's representation-theoretic formula is effective for their theta functions (weak genteelness). Our results apply to (almost) all known cluster algebras arising from representation theory or higher Teichmüller theory, including quantum affine algebras, unipotent cells, double Bruhat cells, skein algebras over surfaces, where we change the coefficients if necessary so that the full rank assumption holds. Facing above-knee amputation poses a significant hurdle due to its profound impact on walking ability. To overcome this challenge, a complex adaptation strategy is necessary at the neuromuscular level to facilitate safe movement with a prosthesis. Prior research conducted on lower-limb amputees has shown a comparable amount of intricacy exhibited by the neurological system, regardless of the level of amputation and state of walking. This research investigated the differences in muscle synergies among individuals with unilateral transfemoral amputations during walking at three different speeds of transient-state gait. Surface electromyography was recorded from eleven male transfemoral amputees' intact limbs (TFA), and the concatenated non-negative matrix factorization technique was used to identify muscle synergy components, synergy vectors (S), and activation coefficient profiles (C). Results showed varying levels of correlation across paired-speed comparisons in TFA, categorized as poor (S1), moderate (S3 and S4), and strong (S2). Statistically significant differences were observed in all activation coefficients except C3, particularly during the stance phase. This study can assist therapists in understanding muscle coordination in TFA during unsteady gait, contributing to rehabilitation programs for balance and mobility improvement, and designing myoelectric prosthetic systems to enhance their responsiveness to trips or falls. The article aims to estimate the coefficient bounds for the second Hankel determinant by using the class of bi-close-to-convex functions of a complex order in the open unit disk. Making the direct application of Carathéodory function along with the closely related properties of starlike functions, we obtain the upper bound for the second Hankel determinant via certain subclass of bi-close-to-convex functions of complex order. The study discusses the maximization of the second Hankel determinant in both conventional graph and analytic methods. Moreover, we explore and modify some results on the study of bi-close-to-convex functions and its second degree Hankel determinant. The paper investigates the limit cycle of length two in the Rikker model. It is established that the dependence of the ratio of the maximum value of the cycle to the minimum depends monotonously and almost linearly on the growth coefficient of the Rikker model. Models of the parity shift of the limit cycle of length two are constructed, which is provided by a simultaneous sharp decrease/increase in the growth coefficient. On the example of the Amur salmon in 1994 It is shown that a decrease in the growth coefficient, leading to a shift in the parity of the cycle of length two, is accompanied by a low temperature during the life cycle of pink salmon, when the pink salmon population is in a state of spawn and when the young are rolling. Opinion dynamics is of paramount importance as it provides insights into the complex dynamics of opinion propagation and social relationship adjustment. It is assumed in most of the previous works that social relationships evolve much faster than opinions. This is not always true in reality. We propose an analytical approximation to study this issue for arbitrary time scales between opinion adjustment and network evolution. To this end, the coefficient of determination in statistics is introduced and a one-dimensional stable manifold is analytically found, i.e., the most likely trajectory. With the aid of the stable manifold, we further obtain the fate of opinions and the consensus time, i.e., fixation probability and fixation time. We find that for in-group bias, the more likely individuals are to adopt the popular opinion, the less likely the majority opinion takes over the population, i.e., conformity inhibits the domination of popular opinions. This counterintuitive result can be interpreted from a game perspective, in which in-group bias refers to a coordination game and rewiring probability refers to a rescaling of the selection intensity. Doran and Morgan introduced in [12] a rational basis for the monodromy group of the Picard-Fuchs operator of a hypergeometric family of Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this paper we compute numerically the transition matrix between a generalization of the Doran-Morgan basis and the Frobenius basis at a half-conifold point of a one-parameter family of double octic Calabi-Yau threefolds. We identify the entries of this matrix as rational functions in the special values L (f , 1) and L (f , 2) of the corresponding modular form f and one constant. This study aimed to calculate the thermal neutron (0.0253 eV) total macroscopic cross-section and gamma-ray (1.25 MeV) linear absorption coefficient for (100-x)Al-xGd2O3 (x=5 to 50) and 100-(x+y)Al-xGd2O3+yW (x,y=5 to 50) composites using MCNP6.2 simulation code. The simulation consists of a mono-energy point neutron and gamma-ray source, target material, and detector. The F4 tally from the MCNP6.2 library was used as the detector. The results show the highest thermal neutron total macroscopic cross-section for the 50%Al-50%Gd2O3 composite and the highest linear absorption coefficient for the 50%Al-%5Gd2O3-45%W composite. The results of this study provide a good understanding of the thermal neutron and gamma ray the shielding capabilities of Al matrix Gd2O3 and W doped composites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to test the psychometric properties of Adlerian Inferiority and Superiority Complex Shortened Scales in a Turkish sample. Exploratory factor analysis sample consisted of 331 individuals (192 female and 139 men) between the ages of 15 and 65, while confirmatory factor analysis sample consisted of 192 individuals (113 female and 79 men) between the ages of 15 and 64. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, inferiority complex showed a structure of 10 items, while superiority complex showed a structure of 9 items. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scales had acceptable fit values in a twofactor structure. Findings related to the internal consistency coefficient, test-retest reliability and concurrent validity showed that Adlerian Inferiority Complex and Superiority Complex Shortened Scales are valid and reliable tools for evaluate the inferiority and superiority complex levels of individuals aged 15 and older in Turkey sample. Improving the grain yield in rice can be done more efficiently by selecting the yield components than selecting the grain yield itself, provided that these traits have a desirable genetic correlation with the grain yield trait. A field experiment was carried out in the rice research station in Al-Mashkhab/ Najaf/ IRAQ to determine the traits correlated with grain yield and to select the superior genotypes with their selection index among the sixteen genotypes planted during the growing season of 2021. During the 2022 season six genotypes were selected to evaluate the path coefficient analysis for the grain yield and its components according to randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates. The results showed that the mean squares of the genotypes were significant for all studied traits(P<0.1). The superiority of the genotypes Furat1, Jasmine and K2 over the rest of six genotypes that were selected for having a high selection index, especially in the trait of grain yield, number of tillers.m-2 and number of grains.panicle-1. The genetic and phenotypic path coefficient analysis revealed that there was a high direct effect of the yield components on the grain yield due to the high positive and desirable values of the genetic and phenotypic correlation between the grain yield and its components including the number of tillers.m-2, the number of grains.panicle-1 and the panicle length, which are selective indicators for improving grain yield. Furthermore, the aforementioned traits showed high values of heritability in the broad sense and good stability during the two study seasons. Thus, the characteristics of the number of tillers.m-2 and the number of grains per panicle can be considered as one of the best criteria to be adopted as a selection index in the breeding programs for the rice crop. Cannabis intoxication may increase the risk of motor vehicle crashes. However, reliable methods of assessing cannabis intoxication are limited. The presence of eyelid tremors is among the signs of cannabis use identified under the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Our objectives were to assess the accuracy and replicability of identifying eyelid tremor as an indicator of recent cannabis smoking using a blinded, controlled study design. Adult subjects (N = 103) were recruited into three groups based on their cannabis use history: daily, occasional, and no current cannabis use. Participants' closed eyelids were video recorded for 30 seconds by infrared videography goggles before and at a mean ± standard deviation time of 71.4 ± 4.6 minutes after the onset of a 15-minute interval of ad libitum cannabis flower smoking or vaping. Three observers with expertise in neuro-ophthalmology and medical toxicology were trained on exemplar videos of eyelids to reach a consensus on how to grade eyelid tremor. Without knowledge of subjects' cannabis use history or time point (pre- or post-smoking), observers reviewed each video for eyelid tremor graded as absent, slight, moderate, or severe. During subsequent data analysis, this score was further dichotomized as a consensus score of absent (absent/slight) or present (moderate/severe). Kappa and intraclass correlation coefficient statistics demonstrated moderate agreement among the coders, which ranged from 0.44–0.45 and 0.58–0.61, respectively. There was no significant association between recent cannabis use and the observers' consensus assessment that eyelid tremor was present, and cannabis users were less likely to have tremors (odds ratio: 0.75; 95 percent confidence interval: 0.25, 2.40). The assessment of eyelid tremor as an indicator of recent cannabis smoking had a sensitivity of 0.86, specificity of 0.18, and accuracy of 0.64. Eyelid tremor has fair sensitivity but poor specificity and accuracy for identification of recent cannabis use. Inter-rater reliability for assessment of eyelid tremor was moderate for the presence and degree of tremor. The weak association between recent cannabis use and eyelid tremor does not support its utility in identifying recent cannabis use. Videos were recorded at only one time point after cannabis use. Adherence to abstinence could not be strictly supervised. Due to regulatory restrictions, we were unable to control the cannabis product used or administer a fixed Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol dose. Participants were predominately non-Hispanic and White. In a cohort of participants with a range of cannabis use histories, acute cannabis smoking was not associated with the presence of eyelid tremor, regardless of cannabis use history, at 70 minutes post-smoking. Additional research is needed to identify the presence of eyelid tremor accurately, determine the relationship between cannabis dose and timeline in relation to last cannabis use to eyelid tremor, and determine how it should be, if at all, utilized for cannabis Drug Recognition Evaluator examinations. Background: The Self-Absorption Scale (SAS) is one of the few instruments that measure dysfunctional selffocused attention or self-absorption, a transdiagnostic factor of vulnerability to various emotional disorders. The internal structure of the Spanish version of the SAS and its relationship with other variables have not been examined, nor has whether its subscales provide relevant information. These were the two goals of the present study. Method: The factor structure of the SAS, its internal consistency, and its relationship with depression and post-traumatic stress were analyzed in a Spanish community sample of 519 adults. Results: The SAS presented a symmetrical bifactor structure with a general factor of self-absorption that explained most of the variance in the items and two specific factors of private and public self-absorption. The total scale and the two subscales of the SAS exhibited excellent, good or adequate reliability coefficients (alphas/omegas = .70 - .88) and correlated with depression and post-traumatic stress (r = .34 - .46). Conclusions: The SAS provides reliable, valid measures of dysfunctional selffocused attention in Spanish adults, but its Private and Public Self-absorption subscales are not much more useful than the information provided by its total scale. Buckling restrained brace is an important structure for improving the seismic resistance of structures. Conducting research on new types of buckling restrained brace can improve the seismic performance and reliability of buckling resistant support. Four different types of buckling restrained braces specimens were designed and manufactured: cross-shaped square steel pipe members, cross-shaped round steel pipe members, cross-shaped carbon fiber members, and in-line carbon fiber members. By conducting quasi-static tests, the force displacement hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, stiffness degradation, equivalent viscous damping coefficient, and energy dissipation ratio of four different types of buckling restrained brace were analyzed. The research results showed that all four buckling restrained brace specimens have good hysteresis performance. The load-bearing capacity and energy consumption performance of the three specimens of square steel pipe, round steel pipe and carbon fiber with the same core unit are the same, but the inline type is worse than the cross type. The core unit specimen with a width of 80 mm is about 60% higher in bearing capacity and energy consumption than a specimen with a width of 50 mm. The core unit of some specimens undergoes multi-wave buckling. For carbon fiber specimens, the CFRP is prone to breakage due to the lateral thrust of the restraining unit. Therefore, steel hoop or stirrup should be added to the end to improve the restraint effect when designing and manufacturing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The well-known Manning formula is usually used for the calculation of the calculative volumetric flow rate in a river or open canal. The discharge depends on the geometry of the channel, i.e. the water area, the wetted perimeter and the slope, as well as on the roughness coefficients. All these quantities are determined with some uncertainty. The article proposes a methodology for calculating the uncertainty of the roughness coefficients of the riverbed and the floodplain as well as the uncertainty of the geometric dimensions of the riverbed. Then, the method of calculating the uncertainty of the calculative discharge is then given. If these uncertainties are taken into consideration in the process of discharge calculation, then, as has been demonstrated for a hypothetical river channel, the ratio of the uncertainty to the calculated value of the discharge will change from several dozen percent in case of small flows to about ten percent in case of big, flood flows. It has also been shown that the uncertainty of the roughness coefficients has the biggest influence on the uncertainty of the flow rate. The presented calculations show that in order to take into account the influence of uncertainty of linear dimensions and roughness coefficients, the engineer designing the riverbed should assume for the calculations the flow rate increased by 10% then design flow. The paper presents the methods of determining the characteristic value on the basis of the standards: PN-B-03020:1981, PN-EN 1997-1:2008, prEN 1997-1:2022-09 and Schneider formula. Determination of the characteristic value of the undrained shear strength τfu was carried out using statistical method on the basis of the prEN 1997-1:2022-09 standard and Schneider formula. The statistical calculations were based on the results of field vane tests carried out in organic subsoil of test embankment in Antoniny test site before loading and after the 2nd embankment stage. In order to determine the undrained shear strength τfu of organic soils from field vane tests, the measured values of shear strength τfv were corrected using the average values of correction factors µ = µ(lab) determined on the basis of triaxial compression, simple shear and triaxial extension tests. The analysis of the calculation results shows that with relatively numerous data sets, large values of the coefficient of variation Vx result in significantly lower characteristic values of τfu obtained according to prEN 1997-1:2022-09, compared to the values obtained according to the Schneider formula. In the case of few data sets, for which high values of the coefficient kn are obtained, with high values of the coefficient of variation Vx, the comparison of the values according to prEN 1997-1:2022-09 with the values obtained according to the Schneider formula shows the greatest differences. Background: We recently developed a novel, preference-based method (Better-Worse, BW) for measuring health status, expressed as a single metric value. We have since expanded it by developing the Drop-Down (DD) method. This article presents a head-to-head comparison of these two methods. We explored user feasibility, interpretability and statistics of the estimated coefficients, and distribution of the computed health-state values. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional online survey among patients with various diseases in the USA. The BW and DD methods were applied in the two arms of the study, albeit in reverse order. In both arms, patients first performed a descriptive task (Task 1) to rate their own health status according to the 12 items (each with 4 levels) in the CS-Base health-outcome instrument. They then performed Task 2, in which they expressed preferences for health states by the two methods. We then estimated coefficients for all levels of each item using logistic regression and used these to compute values for health states. Results: Our total sample comprised 1,972 patients. Completion time was < 2 min for both methods. Both methods were scored as easy to perform. All DD coefficients were highly significant from the reference level (P < 0.001). For BW, however, only the second-level coefficient of "Cognition" was significantly different (P = 0.026). All DD coefficients were more precise with narrower confidence intervals than those of the BW method. Conclusions: Both the BW and DD are novel methods that are easy to apply. The DD method outperformed the BW method in terms of the precision of produced coefficients. Due to its task, it is free from a specific distorting factor that was observed for the BW method. A branch of complex analysis with a rich history is geometric function theory, which first appeared in the early 20th century. The function theory deals with a variety of analytical tools to study the geometric features of complex-valued functions. The main purpose of this paper is to estimate more accurate bounds for the coefficient | a n | of the functions that belong to a class of bi-univalent functions with missing coefficients that are defined by using the subordination. The significance of our present results consists of improvements to some previous results concerning different recent subclasses of bi-univalent functions, and the aim of this paper is to improve the results of previous outcomes. In this paper, a new family of continuous distributions with positive support is introduced. This family is generated by a truncation of the family of univariate symmetrical distributions. In this new family of distributions, general properties, such as moments, asymmetry and kurtosis coefficients, are derived. Particular cases of interest based on the normal, logistic, Laplace and Cauchy models are discussed in depth. The estimation of parameters is carried out by applying moments and maximum likelihood methods. Also, a simulation study was conducted to illustrate the good performance of estimators. An application to the Survival Times (in days) of Guinea Pigs dataset is included, where the special cases of distributions in this family are fitted. The option which provides the best fit is ultimately chosen. An R package, called "tpn", has been implemented, which includes the relevant cases of interest in this family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, we present the first half of our project on the Iwasawa theory of higher rank Galois deformations over deformations rings of arbitrary dimension. We develop a theory of Coleman maps for a very general class of coefficient rings, devise a dimension reduction procedure for locally restricted Euler systems and finally, put these into use in order to prove a divisibility in a 3-variable main conjecture for nearly ordinary families of Rankin-Selberg convolutions. This study introduces a robust hybrid sparse learning approach for regularization and variable selection. This approach comprises two distinct steps. In the initial step, we segment the original dataset into separate training and test sets and standardize the training data using its mean and standard deviation. We then employ either the LASSO or sparse LTS algorithm to analyze the training set, facilitating the selection of variables with non-zero coefficients as essential features for the new dataset. Secondly, the new dataset is divided into training and test sets. The training set is further divided into k folds and evaluated using a combination of Random Forest, Ridge, Lasso, and Support Vector Regression machine learning algorithms. We introduce novel hybrid methods and juxtapose their performance against existing techniques. To validate the efficacy of our proposed methods, we conduct a comprehensive simulation study and apply them to a real-life QSAR analysis. The findings unequivocally demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed estimator, with particular distinction accorded to SLTS+LASSO. This paper presents a new general subfamily N Σ m u , v (η , μ , γ , ℓ) of the family Σ m that contains holomorphic normalized m-fold symmetric bi-univalent functions in the open unit disk D associated with the Ruscheweyh derivative operator. For functions belonging to the family introduced here, we find estimates of the Taylor–Maclaurin coefficients a m + 1 and a 2 m + 1 , and the consequences of the results are discussed. This study aimed to investigate the effects of wearing high-heeled shoes (HHS) on gait variability of the lower limbs when the treadmill speed was sinusoidally changed. A total of 17 young females walked on a treadmill with HHS, HHS with detachable base sockets (HHS-Sockets), and low-heeled shoes (LHS) under sinusoidal speed-changing protocol of 60-s and 30-s periods with an amplitude of ± 0.56 m·s-1. The time course of the joint elevation angles of the thigh, shank, and foot in one gait cycle can be well approximated like a plan e in a triaxial space, so-called intersegmental coordination (IC). Standard deviation of the plane (IC thickness) was considered as the anteroposterior gait variability when the best-fitting plane of the angular covariation was obtained. The lateral gait variability was the coefficient of variance of step width (CV SW). To examine whether the gait parameters was associated with IC thickness, a sum of the time delay of the stride length and step frequency (TD SL+SF) against sinusoidal speed change was calculated. The IC thickness was not different across shoe conditions and periods. The CV SW was greater in the HHS and HHS-Sockets conditions than in the LHS condition. TD SL+SF was greater in the HHS condition than in the LHS and HHS-Sockets conditions at both periods; however, it was not correlated with IC thickness. Walking with HHS increased lateral gait variability at faster speed-changing situation, but not anteroposterior gait variability. In this paper, differential-differential difference equations with variable coefficients have been solved using the Fourier Transform Method (FTM). In addition, new definitions and theorems are introduced. Besides, the efficiency of the proposed method is verified by solving five important examples. Furthermore, we have noted that the Fourier transform method is a powerful technique for solving ordinary differential difference equations (ODDEs) with variable coefficients. It involves transforming the ODDEs into the frequency domain using the Fourier transform, solving the transformed equation, and then applying the inverse Fourier transform to obtain the solution in the time domain. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of Service Quality and Corporate Image on Customer Satisfaction. with the Random sampling technique as a determinant of the number of respondents indicated for customers of PT. Testing is done with Multiple Regression by testing the classical assumptions first, then testing the hypothesis partially with the t test and simultaneously with the f test. then look for the coefficient of determination to see how much the proportion of independent variables affects the variable bond. The results of the study stated that simultaneously (Test F) the independent variables studied, namely Service Quality and Corporate Image, had a positive and significant effect on Customer Satisfaction. While the results of the partial test (T test) Service Quality has no positive effect on Customer Satisfaction and Corporate Image has a positive and significant effect on Customer Satisfaction with a fairly large determination coefficient value of 74.3% and the rest is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. The research aimed to create a shelf life prediction model for Trachinotus ovatus in different freezing temperatures by using back propagation (BP) neural network model. The pH, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), thiobarbituric acid (TBA), water retention (water holding capacity [WHC]; cooking loss), and sensory evaluation were measured under 266 K, 255 K, 243 K, 233 K, and 218 K temperatures. The results of TVB-N and water retention during 266 K, 255 K, 233 K, and 218 K conditions were selected to build a BP neural network model and verify the model at 243 K. Results indicated that low temperatures retarded the rise of pH, TVB-N, and TBA values, improving water retention capacity of Trachinotus ovatus. The BP neural network model had high regression coefficients (r2: 0.8642-0.9904), low mean square error (MES: 0.1658-1.7882), and relative error within 10% and could accurately predict the quality change of Trachinotus ovatus under the freezing temperatures of 266 K-218 K. A methodology for quantifying the variation of the static friction coefficient µ due to different site surface conditions, and for metallic materials with hardness ratios ρ = 0.5 - 2, is proposed. ρ is defined as the ratio between the material hardness and the A36 steel hardness. For each material, 7 coupons were considered in the site conditions "clean", "bought", "polished" and "corroded". Results show if surfaces are kept as "bought", µ may increase or decrease up to 20%, if surfaces are polished, µ may increases up to 37%, and if surfaces are corroded µ may increases up to 410% when considering corrosion rates of 90 - 670 µm/year. These increments or reductions were calculated respect to the site condition "clean". Results also show for "clean" surfaces and for ρ = 1.7, µ is dependent on ρ, for ρ > 1.7, µ is approximately constant. The phenomenon of clogging in pervious concrete (PC) has been one of the main causes of the hydraulic useful life reduction. This phenomenon begins with the partial or total clogging of the pore network and consequently the reduction of the permeability coefficient. Considering that the porous network of the PC is directly related to the aggregate used, the present work aims to evaluate the influence of granulometry on the clogging of the PC. The results showed that the largest aggregate size (Dmax=19 mm) favors the hydraulic properties of the material. However, the variation of the granulometry grading distribution (poorly graded and single-sized) does not generate a significant difference in such results. In terms of clogging, there was a marked effect on the type of the granulometry grading distribution, the use of poorly graded aggregates led to a lower permeability reduction due to clogging when compared to PCs with single-sized aggregates. Extreme hydroclimatic variability in a changing climate and the possible causes of extreme hydrological variability are essential for effectively mitigating floods. The study aims to investigate the variability of extreme hydroclimatic conditions and the relationship between anomalies in extreme local precipitation, ENSO indicators (Southern Oscillation index (SOI), Niño 3.4, and multivariate ENSO index (MEI)), and extreme flow indices in the Upper Awash River basin, Ethiopia. The analysis used standardized anomaly index and coefficient of variation statistics to examine variability, the modified Mann-Kendall and Pettitt tests for trend and change point analysis, and Spearman's correlation test to explore relationships. The study revealed that the basin-wise extreme precipitation indices had less variability but higher variability spatially, while the extreme flow indices showed high variability. Furthermore, the basin experienced extreme wet to normal wet conditions in the 1990s compared to the 2000s. The maximum temperature increased significantly, while the minimum temperature decreased significantly (except at a few northwest stations), with a considerable shift in the 1990s and 2000s. Anomalies, extreme to normal wet conditions, and a decrease in extreme precipitation were consistent with the extreme flow at the basin outlet, Hombole station. However, the extreme flow indices at Melka Kunture increased significantly and shifted upward (2003/2005), and the anomalies in extremely wet and very wet precipitation in the northwest were possibly responsible for this change. The study also revealed that the annual wet and very wet days of precipitation strongly affected the extreme flow in the basin. The effect of annual wet day precipitation, annual maximum precipitation, and ENSO anomalies on extreme flow at the Hombole was significant. The improper Gaussian signaling (IGS) technique can improve the achievable rate of an interference-limited network by fully exploiting the second-order statistics of complex signaling. This paper addresses the outage performance analysis of a two-user downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system using the IGS technique in the presence of imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC). The strong channel user (SU) adopts the IGS, while the weak channel user (WU) adopts the traditional proper Gaussian signaling (PGS). Considering a practical scenario where the transmitter has obtained the statistics of the channel coefficients instead of the instantaneous channel state information (CSI), the expressions of the achievable rates of both users under residual interference due to imperfect SIC are derived, together with their outage probabilities, subject to predetermined target rates and channel statistics. Given a fixed transmit power of the WU, both the transmit power and the degree of impropriety of the SU are optimized to minimize the outage probability subject to the outage constraint of the WU. Valid inference in an observational study requires a correct control specification, but a correct specification is never known. I introduce a method that constructs a control vector from the observed data that, when included in a linear regression, adjusts for several forms of bias. These include nonlinearities and interactions in the background covariates, biases induced by heterogeneous treatment effects, and specific forms of interference. The first is new to political science; the latter two are original contributions. I incorporate random effects, a set of diagnostics, and robust standard errors. With additional assumptions, the estimates allow for causal inference on both binary and continuous treatment variables. In total, the model provides a flexible means to adjust for biases commonly encountered in our data, makes minimal assumptions, returns efficient estimates, and can be implemented through publicly available software. The reliability of surface electromyography (sEMG) has not been adequately demonstrated in the equine literature and is an essential consideration as a methodology for application in clinical gait analysis. This observational study investigated within-session, intra-subject (stride-to-stride) and inter-subject reliability, and between-session reliability of normalised sEMG activity profiles, from triceps brachii (triceps), latissimus dorsi (latissimus), longissimus dorsi (longissimus), biceps femoris (biceps), superficial gluteal (gluteal) and semitendinosus muscles in n = 8 clinically non-lame horses during in-hand trot. sEMG sensors were bilaterally located on muscles to collect data during two test sessions (session 1 and 2) with a minimum 24-hour interval. Raw sEMG signals from ten trot strides per horse and session were DC-offset removed, high-pass filtered (40 Hz), full-wave rectified, and low-pass filtered (25 Hz). Signals were normalised to peak amplitude and percent stride before calculating intra- and inter-subject ensemble average sEMG profiles across strides for each muscle and session. sEMG profiles were assessed using waveform similarity statistics: the coefficient of variation (CV) to assess intra- and inter-subject reliability and the adjusted coefficient of multiple correlation (CMC) to evaluate between-session reliability. Across muscles, CV data revealed that intra-horse sEMG profiles within- and between-sessions were comparatively more reliable than inter-horse profiles. Bilateral gluteal, semitendinosus, triceps and longissimus (at T14 and L1) and right biceps showed excellent between-session reliability with group-averaged CMCs > 0.90 (range 0.90–0.97). Bilateral latissimus and left biceps showed good between-session reliability with group-averaged CMCs > 0.75 (range 0.78–0.88). sEMG profiles can reliably describe fundamental muscle activity patterns for selected equine muscles within a test session for individual horses (intra-subject). However, these profiles are more variable across horses (inter-subject) and between sessions (between-session reliability), suggesting that it is reasonable to use sEMG to objectively monitor the intra-individual activity of these muscles across multiple gait evaluation sessions at in-hand trot. We study the asymptotic growth of coefficients of Mahler power series with algebraic coefficients, as measured by their logarithmic Weil height. We show that there are five different growth behaviors, all of which being reached. Thus, there are gaps in the possible growths. In proving this height gap theorem, we find that a k-Mahler function is k-regular if and only if its coefficients have height in O.log n/. Moreover, we deduce that, over an arbitrary ground field of characteristic 0, a k-Mahler function is k-automatic if and only if its coefficients belong to a finite set. Context: A remarkable change in lattice parameters and bulk modulus is achieved by the suitable addition of Al (Al1-x Lax Sb) and In (Al1-x Inx Sb) atoms in the AlSb compound. Electronic responses like band structure, the total partial density of states, and the elemental density of states are thoroughly investigated. The computed values indicate that the binary compound AlSb is an indirect band gap and an optically inactive response. After increasing the doping concentrations (0.25, 0.5, 0.75) of La and In in AlSb, the band gap changes from indirect to direct nature. Hence, Al1-0.75 La0.25 Sb, Al1-0.50 La0.50 Sb, Al1-0.75 In0.25Sb, and Al1-0.50 In0.50Sb become optically active. The illustrious roles of Al-3p and In-4d states on the band gap and nonlinear responses of these compounds are extensively explored by the comparison between the computed results of ultra-soft and norm converging pseudopotentials. The excess specific heat (CV), enthalpy of mixing (Hm), and phonon dispersion curves resulting from the concentrations "x" are estimated in order to investigate the thermodynamic stability responses of the pristine and doped AlSb. The obtained CV and thermal coefficient statistics for Al1-x Lax Sb and Al1-x Inx Sb may be useful for a good mapping of experimental results and examining these compounds' enharmonic responses. There is a valuable change in optical characteristics like dielectric functional, absorption, conductivity, and refractive index due to the addition of (La, In) impurities in AlSb. It is further observed that Al1-0.75 La0.25 Sb, Al1-0.50 La0.50 Sb, Al1-0.75 In0.25Sb, and Al1-0.50 In0.50Sb are significantly mechanically stable compared to pristine AlSb. The above results suggest that Al1-x Lax Sb and Al1-x Inx Sb are high-performance optical materials and can be promising potential candidates for optoelectronic applications. Bakery products from wheat flour are low in protein and it is inferior and also absorbed at a low level. To solve this problem sources of complete proteins may be introduced into the formulation of bakery products. But animal proteins can be allergens. An alternative can be concentrates, hydrolysates and isolates of proteins of vegetable origin, particularly, obtained from rice. Microbiological, biochemical and conformational changes in dough and bread from wheat flour were influenced by adding rice protein concentrate. Gas-forming capacity of the dough with rice protein concentrate decreased by 8.3-20.8 % compared to the control sample where there was increase of the dosage. Gas formation occurred less intensively in the dough with rice protein concentrate, because fermentation was delayed due to a decrease in the availability of nutrients. The first peak on the gas formation graph in case of the dough with the addition of 4-8 % rice protein concentrate was seen after 65 minutes, in the control sample it was after 60 minutes. When adding 16 % of the additive, the first peak of gas formation was not clearly defined. The second peak of gas formation for control sample was observed after 150 min and for samples with rice protein concentrate a bit later and it was not clearly defined. Infrared spectra showed that relative reflection coefficient of samples with rice protein concentrate was lower both for dough after kneading and after fermentation. The addition of 4 and 8 % rice protein concentrate did not affect the amount of formed sugars, and the addition of 16 % reduced this indicator by 1.6 %. The amount of fermented sugars decreased by 3.0-7.8 %. So, changes during the technological process of bread-making can be followed due to the obtained results for obtaining bread with high protein content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This article proposes a method for investigating the patterns of composition and topological structure of the Persian language. The enhanced method analyzes Persian text by representing it as a simultaneous network graph within the framework of complex network theory. Method: A null model of the same size is generated using the Erdos-Renyi random graph for comparison with the Persian network. The comparison is based on the average path length, clustering coefficient, and hierarchy of both networks. From the analysis of these key features, it can be seen that the Persian network graph differs from the random network. The smaller average path length and high clustering coefficient also confirm the influence of the small-world model in the Persian language. Findings: For the first time, the Persian text was successfully converted into a complex network. An open, unbounded set of over two million words is created using a random forest approach. Conclusion: The resulting network designed using the Bygram bag model contains 3256 nodes and 79705 edges. In addition, unlike the random network where there is only one community, 12 communities have been identified in the Persian network. Bogue (Boops boops, Linnaeus, 1758) that was gathered in Antalya Bay had their ages, growth rates, and mortality examined. Using the von Bertalanffy equation, Lt = 37.50 (1 - e-0.15(t + 1.32)) (R2 = 0.988), growth in length was expressed for the entire sample without revealing any disparities between the sexes. The values of the allometric coefficient (b) of the length-weight relationships specify negative allometric growth (b < 3) in females, males, and overall sexes. Inspired by nature, oscillating foils offer viable options as alternate energy resources to harness energy from wind and water. Here, we propose a proper orthogonal decomposition (POD)-based reduced-order model (ROM) of power generation by flapping airfoils in conjunction with deep neural networks. Numerical simulations are performed for incompressible flow past a flapping NACA-0012 airfoil at a Reynolds number of 1100 using the Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian approach. The snapshots of the pressure field around the flapping foil are then utilized to construct the pressure POD modes of each case, which serve as the reduced basis to span the solution space. The novelty of the current research relates to the identification, development, and employment of long-short-term neural network (LSTM) models to predict temporal coefficients of the pressure modes. These coefficients, in turn, are used to reconstruct hydrodynamic forces and moment, leading to computations of power. The proposed model takes the known temporal coefficients as inputs and predicts the future temporal coefficients followed by previously estimated temporal coefficients, very similar to traditional ROM. Through the new trained model, we can predict the temporal coefficients for a long time duration that can be far beyond the training time intervals more accurately. It may not be attained by traditional ROMs that lead to erroneous results. Deep Learning (DL) based downscaling has recently become a popular tool in earth sciences. Multiple DL methods are routinely used to downscale coarse-scale precipitation data to produce more accurate and reliable estimates at local scales. Several studies have used dynamical or statistical downscaling of precipitation, but the availability of ground truth still hinders the accuracy assessment. A key challenge to measuring such a method's accuracy is comparing the downscaled data to point-scale observations, which are often unavailable at such small scales. In this work, we carry out DL-based downscaling to estimate the local precipitation using gridded data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). To test the efficacy of different DL approaches, we apply SR-GAN and three other contemporary approaches (viz., DeepSD, ConvLSTM, and UNET) for downscaling and evaluating their performance. The downscaled data is validated with precipitation values at IMD ground stations. We find overall reasonably well reproduction of original data in SR-GAN approach as noted through M.S.E., variance statistics and correlation coefficient (CC). It is found that the SR-GAN method outperforms three other methods documented in this work (CCSR-GAN = 0.8806; CCUNET = 0.8399; CCCONVLSTM = 0.8311; CCDEEPSD = 0.8037). A custom V.G.G. network, used in the SR-GAN, is developed in this work using precipitation data. This DL method offers a promising alternative to other existing statistical downscaling approaches. It is noted that superiority in the SR-GAN approach is achieved through the perceptual loss concept, wherein it overcomes the issue of smooth reconstruction and is consequently able to capture better fine-scale details of data considered. The rapid development of technology led to the need to keep pace with it, especially in the field of image processing, because of its importance in the need to get better results. In this paper, new discrete Chebyshev wavelet transforms (DChWT) derived from Chebyshev polynomials (ChP) were proposed and characterized. In terms of orthogonality and approximation (convergence) in the field of mathematics, (ChP) were qualified to transform into discrete wavelets called (DChWT), depending on the mother function with operators (s, r), and were used in image processing to analyze them in the low filter and the high filter so that the image is analyzed into coefficients. Proximity and detail coefficients, which lead to dividing the image into four parts, low left (LL), in which the proximity coefficients are concentrated while the rest of the parts are centered on the detail coefficients, which are high left (HL), low right (LR), and high right (HR), and image compression through the new filter, which has proven its efficiency at level (8) in our results. The results of the proposed wavelets in this work were reached in calculating quality standards in the image obtained after the compression process after comparing them with the results obtained using the standard wavelet used in HaarSymlet 2, Conflict 2, and Daubecheis 2. The most important of these standards is a mean square error (MSE), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), bit per pixel (BPP), compression ratio (CR), and table one. The article deals with the development of an innovative model of traction transmissions of railway vehicles with a higher technical level, which allows to eliminate the existing shortcomings of the mechanical system, simplify the repair processes and reduce the cost, and evaluate its technical level. By reducing the overall dimensions and weight of the mechanical system, increasing reliability due to equal distribution of the load and shortening the power arm, as well as reducing the number of structural elements, increasing the useful work coefficient due to the reduction of the mass of double sliding pads and rotating parts, saving electricity and thereby improving the technical level of rail transport. Traction transmissions consisting of an innovative reducer are offered that ensure the increase. The technical level of the proposed dart transmission is determined based on three compatibility parameters with a creative approach. Compatibility parameters are determined according to the minimum value of the geometric dimensions characterizing the mass of the mechanical system, the maximum value of the useful work coefficient characterizing economic efficiency, as well as the maximum values of the degree of reliability characterizing safety. The technical level of the proposed project transmitter is determined and compared with existing buildings, its technical and economic advantages are highlighted. Background: Understanding the genetic substructure of a population is essential for proper forensic genetic analysis. The Lebanese population has a high rate of endogamous and consanguineous marriages and is segregated based on religious belongings. However, no genetic population studies have been performed up to date to estimate the degree of genetic substructure and inbreeding coefficients. Methods: The present study analyzed a compendium of 23 autosomal STRs typed in 1400 individuals belonging to the seven major Lebanese religious subcommunities. Inbreeding coefficients such as F statistics were estimated. Results: Results showed a Fst (theta) value of 0.002, indicating a low genetic subdivision within the Lebanese population. Conclusion: This study aimed at assessing the genetic substructure of the Lebanese population by analyzing 1400 Lebanese citizens' samples using 23 STR markers. F statistics were computed to evaluate the degree of genetic substructure. Results showed a Fst value of 0.002, indicating a low genetic subdivision within the Lebanese population. In this work, we propose a novel selective encryption scheme based on chaos theory and moments' transforms, two moments families were considered, namely Tchebichef and Hahn. The goal is to propose an ecryption scheme that's fast and can be deployed in real world scenarios. The proposed algorithms operate in the transform domains of Tchebichef and Hahn moments. We encrypt only the most significant coefficients of the moments transforms. First, we down-sample the computed moments' matrices coefficients, then we use two logistic maps for confusion and diffusion of the down-sampled Tchebichef's and Hahn's coefficients, the resulting matrix is the encrypted image. This approach improves drastically the speed of the encryption algorithm while keeping a "good" security level. In order to prove the capabilities of our algorithms, we run different experiments and we test the algorithms on different criteria: MSE, correlation coefficient, differential analysis, entropy and time performance.
