Each year, the editorial team of the American Journal of Health Promotion selects our "Best of List" of health promotion science from the prior year. This editorial features the Editor's picks, the Editor in Chief's favorites, and other award categories for the research and writing published in 2019 in this journal. Our criteria for selection include such factors as: whether the study addresses a topic of timely importance in health promotion, the research question is clearly stated and the methodologies used are well executed, whether the paper is often cited and downloaded, whether the study findings offer a unique contribution to the literature, and whether the paper is well written and enjoyable to read. Awardees in 2019 shared study findings that demonstrated the vital role of health policies in affecting behaviors and offered new insights into how to engage voices from communities, how intervention dose and reach impact outcomes, and how to better engage the most difficult to reach. This article reviews the major features and events that have characterized the 40-year history of the Canadian Pain Society/Société canadienne de la douleur, which is a chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). The review first describes its early formative years in the 1970s as eastern and western chapters of IASP and then its evolution as a Canada-wide chapter and society. Also highlighted is the formulation in this period of its purpose to foster pain research, education, and management and the many activities in which the Society has been engaged to reinforce this purpose over the ensuing decades. These include its annual scientific meetings and the establishment of publications, guidelines, and other educational material as well as awards to support research and trainees. Many of these activities have included engagement with key partners who have also collaborated with the Society in national and international advocacy for pain. The review also outlines some of the features and factors underpinning the Society's national and international reputation and impact resulting from the many contributions that its members have made to the advances in pain research, education, and management over the past 40 years. The review concludes by noting that by way of its rich history and its past and present experiences, the Society is well positioned to continue its many activities and contributions to address the many challenges still facing the pain field in Canada and around the world. The analysis of the profile of students and servants who composed the School of Apprentice and Craft in Natal, between the years 1909 and 1937, is part of a broader research carried out in a doctoral program that was developed from research projects awarded with scholarship by the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte, campus São Gonçalo do Amarante. The objective is to construct the socioeconomic profile of apprentices, in order to understand, among other aspects, the reasons for a high dropout rate in the School, as well as the mechanisms of discipline used in school space. Regarding the servers, the objective was to know, among other questions, if there was a specific profile desired for these professionals, as well as whether political factors were considered for their appointment. In search of the answers to the proposed questions, we explore, among other sources, books of registration, class journals and terms of possession. As a result, it was possible to map more than 1.400 student records and more than 60 servers during the period studied. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the United States, “seed fund” programs in biomedical fields have been reported to enhance faculty success in securing federal awards. Seed funds are relatively small internal grants that are allocated by universities to their faculty to invigorate research, in anticipation that they will lead to larger benefits—these benefits could be the creation of stronger teams that lead to larger external grants and/or more impactful publications. We hypothesized that a seed funding approach for research on natural resources and agricultural systems, including forest systems, may have similar benefits. Here, we report that seed funding supported faculty development in numerous ways, including leveraging to generate external competitive awards. For each dollar of institutional investment in each of the three seed funding programs, faculty acquired $6, >$50, and $4.50, respectively, in external funding that was leveraged within three years of the seed fund award date. Notably, the majority of the leveraged funding was from federal granting agencies through competitive programs. Federal competitive awards are important elements of tenure and promotion dossiers, as they reflect success in acquiring grants that are difficult to obtain, thus providing evidence of research excellence. We speculate that the seed fund proposal review process prepared faculty for competitive awards. The full name of Binte Shat’e (1913-1998) is Ayesha Binte Abdur Rahman. She is known as Binte Shat’e because she started writing with this name. She was a prolific writer, poetess, historian and seerah writer. She was the first Female Muslim Professor of the Al-Azhar University (Egypt). She received a number of international awards for her research works, especially Shah Faisal literary award for her best Qur᾽anic writings. She wrote for many newspaper and journals. She wrote mostly on the females of the family of the Holy Prophet known as Ahle-Bait. Her famous books are the mother of the Prophet: Aamina Binte Wahab, the Wives of the Prophet, The Daughters of the Prophet and Al-Sayeda Zainab Binte Ali (RA). The last mentioned book discusses the Event of Karbala which took place in the 61 Hijra in the period of Umayyad’s when Yazeed Bin Mua’awia (RA) was the emperor of the Muslim world. Binte Shat’e discusses on the one hand the event of Karbala and on the other hand the character of Al-Syeda Zainab. How she participated in this event for helping her brother Hazrat Hussain (R.A). She presented her sons for sacrifice too. The writer proves to be a scholar by discussing not only the direct event, rather she also mentions the indirect events relating to Karbala in one way or the other. While discussing the event, she has quoted some historical narrations without any critical analysis. She quoted Quran and Hadithe too. This research papers present a critical view of the selected narrations of the book Al-Sayeda Zainab so that weak and fabricated things could be pointed out as they are very much famous in history but they have never been criticized. The article reports on several motions and resolutions proposed at the Central Carolina Community College meetings. Topics include provides motion to authorize the officers to charge a task force to work on the Wikipedia initiative; motion to organize the display of awards on the CCCC website according to categories identified by the executive committee special projects committee; and resolution to provide access avenues to attendee of every ability able to participate in the convention.

I examine the impact of the 2010 AMR Decade Award article on the entrepreneurship field over the past ten years, identifying aspects of "The Promise of Entrepreneurship As a Field of Research" that have been largely accepted by the field, those that the field has challenged, and those that the field has found to be unclear. The field of optogenetics realizes a dream first articulated by Francis Crick in the 1970s: to use light to turn specific neurons on (or off), so as to tease apart brain function and mechanisms. Few could have anticipated that the technical solution to this grand neurobiology challenge would come from basic studies in Archaea and algae. The 2021 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award recognizes the contributions of Dieter Oesterhelt, Peter Hegemann, and Karl Deisseroth for their discovery of microbial light-sensing proteins that can activate or silence individual brain cells and for their use in developing optogenetics, which has revolutionized neuroscience.
