- Abstract
Metaphors enrich a language and help people understand abstract or unfamiliar content. By linking abstract information to a concrete concept, it becomes easier for people to understand the information. This thesis is an investigation into the meaning of metaphors that appear in the editorials of the New Era newspaper. The purpose of the study was to examine the use and functions of different types of metaphors and how metaphors contribute to convey the meaning of the message in the editorials of the newspaper. The research also explored the various influences of cultural elements on metaphors. This research was qualitative in nature. The data collected were critically examined using the Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP), a tool that is used to identify metaphor in discourse. The study is informed by the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT). The investigation reveals that our thoughts and perceptions about target domains are structured in metaphors which are common in our everyday experiences. Furthermore, the study shows that a proper interpretation of a metaphoric utterance ultimately requires a reader’s knowledge of mappings or correspondences between the literal senses of words used in their source domains and the distinct figurative meaning they have gained in the target domain. The research reveals that metaphors are common in newspaper discourse and contributes to the existing body of knowledge on Namibian newspaper discourse.

Četvrti dio predstavlja život i djelovanje Martina Luthera prije njegovih teoloških rasprava o slobodnoj volji s Erazmom, a zatim slijedi govor o samim raspravama. Theme of this work represent life and work one of the most famous christian humanist, Erasmus from Rotterdam. We are starting from historical circumstances important for his work and development of his christian philosophy. Philosophy of Christianity or Christ philosophy is a synthesis of theology, spirituality and philosophy. It is divine philosophy which is understandable even for the simplest people. It comes from the heart not only from intelect. This work is structured in 4 parts. First, introductory part deals with historycal time of 15th century, theological and social problems of that time which gave the reason for the development of humanistic thought, and later of the reformation. The second part introduces us to the theme of humanism, its general attitude and its standpoint on Christianity and the Church. The second chapter is also an introduction to the third, which represents Erazmu's life with an emphasis on his love for literature and the Bible from which many works have been created and from which the Christian philosophical system - Christ's philosophy has evolved. The fourth part represents the life and work of Martin Luther before his theological discussion of the free will with Erazmus, followed by a talk of debates itself. Work ends with a talk of humanism and reformation after the debates ceased, but also after the death of Erazmo and Luther. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the humanistic influence on Christianity, its contribution to Christianity, with the emphasis on the work of Erasmus from Rotterdam as a humanist, as well as the influence of Martin Luther as a reformer.

In the spirit of the title of the professional and scientific symposium – The Past Saved for the Future, the author creates a concise picture of a multi-layered archaeological cultural and historical site near the settlement Suhopolje in the Drava Valley, at the position of Kliškovac. The focus of the author’s interest was the toponym Klisa, contained in the name of Kliškovac, which has preserved the memory of the existence of the mediaeval sacral building (Lat. ecclesia) and settlement (vac – vas – village) that had evidently been destroyed during Ottoman conquests of Slavonia at the beginning of the 16th century. Mediaeval churches built across spacious Ottoman Empire have been named klisa or kilisa, which originates from Grrek word ecclesia overtaken by the Romans. Individual archaeological finds and skeleton remains in the profile of the railway near Suhopolje have determined a reliable place for archaeological and multidisciplinary research, which in the period 2005–2009 confirmed the author’s assumption of the existence of a mediaeval church and accompanying cemetery with three burial levels, as well as a nearby settlement. The research of Kliškovac included the following: parallel remote interpretation; geophysical surveys; historical search for possible oikonym or patronymic; bioanthropological analyses; numismatic interpretation; detailed digital documenting; conservation analysis of various materials (metal; ceramics; stone); as well as scientific, exhibition and publicist activities. Archaeological search has resulted in valuable knowledge that has actually saved the image of a fraction of the past (10th – 16th/17th ct.) of Slavonia, which is currently being valued for the future, in which it is hoped to continue research, and to protect and present a new value added to the tourism offer. It is of high importance that, in addition to the public research Institute for Archaeological Research of the Republic of Croatia as research holder, the mentioned process of the search for the past was recognized by the Municipal Directorate of Suhopolje; the Foundation for Science of the Croatian Academy of Science and Arts; the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia; and the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, Conservation Department in Požega.

- Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory cutaneous disease driven by immune dysregulation and skin barrier dysfunction. Currently, we are experiencing a new era of understanding of the pathogenesis of AD and, as a consequence, a new era of innovation in therapeutics, including small molecules and biologic therapy. In contrast to biologics, small molecules are similar to conventional pharmacologic chemical agents used as drugs and are generally prepared by chemical synthesis. Unlike biologics, these drugs often are taken orally or formulated for topical use. The purpose of this review is to summarize the efficacy and safety of the current topical and systemic new therapies in AD by reviewing recently published papers on therapies currently in phase 2 or 3 clinical trials. In this review, it is important to note the characteristics of the study population, the primary endpoints, and whether or not there was concomitant topical therapy allowed. These study design elements may significantly alter the results of studies and should be taken into account. Targeted therapy help push AD treatment into a new era of personalized medicine., Competing Interests: CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: There are no conflict of interest for Jiyoung Ahn and Yusung Choi. - Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory cutaneous disease driven by immune dysregulation and skin barrier dysfunction. We are currently experiencing a new era of understanding of the pathogenesis of AD and, as a consequence, a new era of innovation in therapeutics, including small molecules and biologic therapy. Recently, advances in translational research have challenged the traditional AD pathogenesis paradigm of AD being solely a Th2-dominant disease. Other immune pathways seem to play a role in the complex AD pathophysiology, although the clinical relevance of these additional immune pathway abnormalities is unclear. Type 1, type 22, and type 17 pathway activation (with related cytokines/chemokines) have been demonstrated in the skin and blood of AD patients. Type 2 (interleukin [IL]-4, IL-13), IL-31, and type 22 (IL-22) pathway cytokines are increased in AD acute lesions. IL-22 induces both an epidermal hyperplasia at the onset of acute AD and a marked increase in the terminal differentiation S100 genes. This understanding of pathogenesis corresponds to a historic increase in therapeutic development in AD. The extreme clinical heterogeneity and the chronic progression of AD establish the need for newer, safer, and more effective treatments, control the disease, and improve the quality of life of affected patients., Competing Interests: CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: There are no conflict of interest for Jiyoung Ahn and Yusung Choi. The necessity of studying the phenomenon of playing time in space was grounded. The basic views of scholars on the phenomenon of play in the era of the New Age and the Enlightenment were presented. It was found that gaming phenomenon constitutes a complex and multifaceted notion, which a person gains through experience and perceives with senses and which promotes self-identity. Key features of the game determined by social, economic and political factors characteristic of that period of human history were identified. The essential characteristics of the game associated with such categories as energy, freedom, aesthetics, pleasure, competititon, transformation and improvement were distinguished. It was emphasized that the elements of the game should not be used separately (as a form, means or a method of pedagogical influence) but as a unity securing a comprehensive and balanced development of personality and achievement of educational goals., - Abstract
As China's social development enters the New Era and the pursuit of healthcare is on the rise, people put forward the new requirements to traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) service capability. It is a great mission entrusted to practitioners to give full play to the unique characteristics and strengths of TCM. The development of TCM is currently confronted with important chances and challenges, and has entered a period of adjustment. In order to promote the healthy and sustainable development of TCM and enlarge people's sense of gaining in particular,it is vital to improve the contribution of TCM in China's medical and health services. My suggestions are as follows: ①The development of TCM should stay true to the vision of people's health-oriented development, accelerate shift of " three work emphasis",and scientifically construct five " should do" and five " should do even more" development path suited to features of TCM. ②The development of TCM should focus on the study of its " new four natures"( safety, effectiveness, controllability, accessibility) further, and pursue innovation-driven high quality development of TCM.

- Abstract
China is one of the schistosomiasis-endemic countries with the highest burden of disease across the world. Following the control efforts for over 60 years, great successes have been achieved in schistosomiasis control in the country, and the control program is moving towards transmission interruption and elimination. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of publishing Chairman Mao Zedong's two poems entitled " Farewell to the God of Plague ", a series of activities that disseminate schistosomiasis control achievements have been conducted in China throughout 2018, including the development of Chinese spirit on schistosomiasis control in the new era. After extensive discussion, collection and screening, and "Integration of all efforts, scientific control, willingness to dedication and swearing to wipe out the 'God of Plague' " was proposed as Chinese spirit on schistosomiasis control in the new era. Integration of all efforts is a summary of administrative policy-making and population participation in Chinese schistosomiasis control programs; scientific control is the refinement of the Chinese national schistosmiasis control strategy that is developed and implemented tailoring to time and circumstances; willingness to dedication is a valuable spiritual wealth and inexhaustible source of power for Chinese schistosomiasis control professionals in the new era; and swearing to wipe out the "God of Plague" is a sacred mission assigned to Chinese professionals participating in the national schistosomiasis control program in the new era. Chinese spirit on schistosomiasis control in the new era will further strengthen our belief in achieving the goal of schistosomiasis elimination in China eventually.

The aim of the paper is to present an architectonic study of Roman Catholic churches built in Vojvodina in years 1699. to 1939. The revitalization of the southern Hungarian region followed the end of the domination of the Ottoman Empire in the lands of the Habsburg Monarchy (1745-1918, Austrian Empire, 1804-1867. & Austro-Hungarian Empire, 1867-1918.) in the times after the Austro-Turkish wars and the signing of the Karlovci (1699.) and Pozarevac (1718.) Peace Treats. The period of political and economic stability, which lasted until the outbreak of the First World War, was favorable time for a comprehensive expansion of constructing activities. The continuity of the construction of religious buildings of the state-dominant Roman Catholic religion, can be followed after this period, until the outbreak of the Second World War (1939). For nearly two and a half centuries on the territory of Vojvodina, 231 Roman Catholic religious buildings were built, including 3 cathedrals, 184 parish churches and 44 covenant, family or cemetery chapels, in 166 towns and villages in Vojvodina. The main problems the research was focused in were the spatial concepts and correlation between form and function of these structures, origins and typology of architectural forms, the influence of the Central European centers and the surrounding areas and the ways in which discursive cultural, socio-political and religious climate manifested in architecture of studied ecclesiastical buildings. The theoretical framework of the research was a phenomenon of the contemporary, dominant national cultural policy - the discourse of official culture, art and architecture of the Monarchy (1745-1918.), later Austria (1804-1867.) and the Austro-Hungarian Empire (1867/1918.) on the one side and Christian theology, symbolism and liturgical paradigm as a determinant of architectural formation of the liturgical space on the other. A complex research process (22 archives and museums in 6 countries) and an extensive analysis of information on the researched subject (414 used and referent bibliography units and 88 units of published sources, archival documents and records and Schematisms were collected) preceded the definition of general theoretical knowledge. Photo and technical documentation of the interior and exterior of the current situation for most of the studied objects (162) was completed during three years terrain research period. Having studied a large number of examples and having observed them from different value aspects the exemplary that is representative buildings were sorted out. Beside formal archtectural nature, architectural expression, style and historical significance, the examples were chosen by the role of an sacral object in the urban space of a village as well as the role of the object within the church organization. As a final result of the research, a typological systematization of the studied objects was presented according the specific features of the spacial concept, the other formal architectonic characteristics, as well as according correlation of a building with its immediate and wider environment. Seven major typological groups were sorted out. The key factors that determine a type were defined as: a) plan development, as a result of the internal functional spatial organization, b) use of constructions in the function of an interior design, c) architectural composition that determines the mass of the outer volume and d) social climate and urban contextual factors. Architectural language in interior and exterior design, determined by dominant style in architecture, turns out not to be crucial for systematization of the architectural types. However, the dominance of certain styles in certain time periods determines not only the application of the style and decoration, but also the character of the internal space. Correlation of a sacral building to the wider environment had great importance in the study of transmission and flow of influence and allows geographic hedging and paving the main changes in the period. Applied Matrix method, including a systematic study of each researched object according eight established criteria, has completely confirmed the hypotheses set at the beginning. The investigation work conducted on the spatial concept of Roman Catholic churches built during the 18, 19. and IX the first decades of the 20. century (1699-1939.) in Vojvodina can identify the evolution of thought and the guiding principle of the spatial organization solutions and the dominant style in ecclesiastical architecture during the researched period.

Over the past two decades, control over the US bankruptcy reorganization process has shifted from a debtor's pre-bankruptcy managers to holders of secured claims. The result has been increased adherence to absolute priority and a harder landing for the debtor's managers and shareholders. Because managers still make or can influence the decision whether or when to file a bankruptcy petition, we hypothesize that anticipation of bankruptcy under these new conditions will result in a delay in filing, increased leverage, increased secured debt, and a reduction of asset value for firms at the time they file. We present empirical evidence consistent with our hypotheses. The Author 2012. Published by Oxford University Press on behalf of Yale University. All rights reserved. - Abstract
- Abstract
The lobby of the Metropole, a habitable bridge in Rotterdam In our mobilized epoch considered as the network era, hubs are crucial devices for the orchestration of our cities. Road and building mediate in the quality of our cityscapes like the Randstad in which we live as continuous commuters. The habitable bridge is used as the ultimate typology for the examination of a new form of architecture in which a multitude of urban functions are brought together. The province meets the city, the artificial meets the natural, architecture meets infrastructure. Despite a strong belief in the capacities of architecture and infrastructure, Rotterdam did not manage to merge these two paradigms after the Second World War. Although the ambition is there to merge the boulevard with the river, the south with the north, the street with the building, significant proposals are lacking. Through the use of historical precedents like the multifunctional Boompjes of the Golden Age, the reintroduction of the river as valuable public space is envisioned. The fascination for a multifunctional bridge, merged with the ambitions of Rotterdam, catalyzed by the architectural needs of a new era forms the base for my proposal ‘The Lobby of the Metropole: the Fusion of Architecture and Infrastructure in Tomorrow’s Megalopolis’. METABOLISTIC COLLECTIVE FORM AND THE POTENTIAL OF CONGESTION The city is approached as an organism that comes to life through a multitude of streams. The careful orchestration of urban flows is considered as the main challenge of the urban fabric. The integral design of landscape, architecture and infrastructure could catalyze the quality of our future cities. Previous to my design ‘The Lobby of the Metropole’, I did an extensive research into the ideas of the Japanes Metabolists and the history of Rotterdam. This diploma thesis tries to analyse the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve System in the 1920s. Through a detailed scrutiny of the influence of the American Central Bank on the economic activities it also tries to answer the question whether the Federal Reserve System could be considered as the main factor behind the causes and consequences of the Great Depression. This analysis can be divided into two periods. In the first period it explores the connection between the Federal Reserve System and the so-called New Era of American Capitalism in the 1920s. In addition, it raises the question whether the Central American Bank (through monetary policy tools) influenced the contemporary economic and political development to such an extent that it resulted into the Great Depression. The focus of the second period is the behaviour of the Federal Reserve System right after the Stock Market Crash of 1929.

In recent times, the urban consumption of yajé in Columbia constitutes an expanding phenomenon that attracts a varied public of middle and upper class in search of therapeutic, spiritual and enlightening alternatives. This phenomenon can be classified in what several investigators have called neoshamanism or modern western shamanism. The present article analyzes how, in various Colombian cities, neoshamanism associated with the use of yajé identifies with discourses and practices related to the cultural industry of the New Era.

Grobovi sadrže vrlo malo nalaza, a na temelju stratigrafskih odnosa mogu se datirati u razdoblje novog vijeka., From 18 February to 6 March 2008, prior to construction works, archaeological rescue excavations were conducted in the sacristy of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Čazma. The excavations were lead by Vjekoslav Štrk from the Slavko Kolar Culture Centre in Čazma, with the participation of Siniša Krznar, M.S. from the Institute of Archaeolog y of the Republic of Croatia. The excavation area was limited by the sacristy walls and encompassed 21.70 m2. In the excavations, 53 stratigraphic units were defined and 25 sacks of finds (mostly pottery fragments and nails) and 8 special finds were excavated and 37 samples taken. Additionally, 8 graves were revealed, which can be dated to the New Era. Upon the conclusion of archaeological works and site mapping, construction works in the area of the sacristy resumed, facilitating the restoration of the sacristy’s ritual function.

Dispozicija novootkrivene arhitekture te stilska obilježja kompleksa ukazuju na otkriće velike trobrodne crkve s moćnim zvonikom., In August and September 2008, the Institute of Archaeolog y continued the sixth season of archaeological excavations of the medieval church with a cemetery situated on a hill close to the village of Crkvari, Orahovica Municipality, in Virovitica-Podravina County. The purpose of excavations around the apse of today’s chapel is not only to unearth the foundations of the Gothic apse and buttresses and ascertain other scholarly facts, but also to lay the groundwork for future drainage projects. In this area, 32 graves were found, dating from the Middle Ages to New Era, so that the overall number of excavated graves at the site is 233. The excavations in the east, around the apse, with complex layers and rich finds, yielded a great deal of information that helps interpret the sequence of the burial horizons at the site, as well as the sequence of individual construction phases. The finds of coins minted by Nikola of Ilok in the archaeological complexes facilitate the chronological analysis of the layers, at the same time suggesting the great significance of the site in the Middle Ages. However, the most important discoveries in 2008 were made upon excavation of a large surface in front of the western façade of today’s church. The disposition of the newly uncovered architecture and the stylistic characteristics of the complex imply the potential discovery of a large church with a nave and two aisles, and a powerful bell-tower. It seems that it was also built over several construction phases, but it was all within the period which in the Croatia’s territory was characterized by the Gothic style, as indicated by the buttresses on the building, as well as individual finds of moulded stone sculpture, and moulded window frames made of brick. In order to define the possible stages of construction more precisely, it is necessary to continue systematic archaeological excavations.

- Abstract

This dissertation had as the purpose of analyzing a modality peculiar comportamental, built during the last three decades of the century XX and that it can be apprehended through the movement New Era. For this modality it could be observed the subjective construction of mechanisms of answers and of interpretation of the reality that resulted in attitudes and or in an ethics comportamental capable to translate the new challenges that the current reality - denominated by some theoreticals as being a post-modern reality - it puts for the individual. Though, it can be verified that such mechanisms of answers, when confronted with the process of human alienation, they become a modality of individual answer which the critical potential is at the superficial level, reinforcing a process of the individualþs privatizations.

Foreign ownership reform in the Chinese financial sector is not only a landmark in the country's opening up, but also a strategic move to rebalance US-China trade. Now more than ever, Beijing must not let its cautiousness on financial risk take over and undo its strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Via Susie Madrak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU6le_6p_uU  I watched the video above and then I read Blake’s piece below on Bobby Kennedy: A Golden Age That Never Was and I was overwhelmed with a wave of tears and deep sadness. Like Blake, I often wonder what might have been, if we had not lost Bobby 40 years ago… Bobby “was the perfect messenger, the royal heir, who could bridge the divide between the old world and the newly emerging one.†He had strong ties to the traditional Democratic Party machine that had elected his brother and yet, was able to harness the energy, anger and hope that the post-WW II generation -- the largest ever -- was producing. RFK was a rare mix of radical compassionate ideas.... somewhat conservative personal values...... self sacrifice, self discipline, stoicism and patriotism, rooted in moral conviction, but he was also perfectly in tune with his times. He had a perpetual sense of outrage at the racial, political, and social injustices that were crippling our country. We all know that “RFK was not a perfect man, none of us is, but he was the right man ... at the right time and would have moved us gracefully into a new era. Bobby never failed us.†He never grew old. He never sold out. Instead, he opened up the vision for the future...of course he was denied the opportunity to lead us there .... But he showed us the way. His legacy lives on, albeit slowly. "....The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.†-- Edward M. Kennedy. “The dream shall never die,†because as Blake explained “he, (and his brother) represented a hope“..... And hope is a good thing.
