(Z, E)-9, 12-tetradecadienyl acetate and (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate were identified chemically in sex pheromone gland extracts of female Spodoptera depravata (BUTLER). A laboratory wind-tunnel experiment showed that the former compound acts as an attractant-pheromone to the male but the latter compound has no pheromonal activity by itself or in combination with the former compound.

Sex pheromone components of the female Crocidolomia binotalis, an insect pest of cabbages in Indonesia, were identified from the ovipositor tip extract of virgin females by analyzing with chromatographic fractionation and capillary GC/MS. In an EAG response and attractivity test with a wind tunnel system, a mixture of synthetic compounds, (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z-9-TDA) and (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate (Z-11-HDA), in the ratio of 1:7-1:60 and an amount of 1-50 ng on a filter paper, showed strong activities comparable to the activity of the ovipositor tip extract, which contained the two compounds at a ratio of c. 1:10 (Z-9-TDA:Z-11-HDA). The mixture of these two compounds might be the sex pheromone of C. binotalis.

ニカメイガの性フェロモンの室内誘引試験法を空調温室内においたフライトチェンバーと箱型の粘着トラップを用いて確立した。オス成虫のフェロモン源への定位に必要な気流は,温室に供給される温湿度一定の空気を導入して得た。トラップは入口を狭めてフェロモンの誘引によらないオスの飛び込みを防いだ。2個のトラップの一方に処女メスを入れオスを放飼すると,オスは処女メストラップのみに捕獲された。放飼オスを20∼100頭の範囲で増やすとトラップ捕獲は若干上昇した。処女メスは1∼20頭の範囲では,増やしてもオスの捕獲率にはほとんど差がなかった。トラップの高さも床上25cmと75cmの間ではオスの捕獲率には影響せず,各々の高さに2個ずつ,計4個のトラップをおくことも可能であった。上記の装置により,合成性フェロモンの誘引性をテストした。性フェロモンを各々0.1, 1,および10mg吸着させたゴムセプタムのうち,1mgのゴムセプタムにのみ誘引性がみられ,合成性フェロモントラップにオスが捕獲されるためには,化合物の狭い範囲の蒸発速度が必要であると思われた。

ニカメイガの雌の暗期における性フェロモン生成は,その前の明期における断頭により抑制された。雌の頭部抽出物を断頭個体に注射すると,性フェロモン生成が回復した。これらから,雌の頭部から分泌されるホルモン様物質が性フェロモン生産を支配していることが示された。さらに,性フェロモンの生成が継続されるためにもこの物質が存在する必要のあることがわかった。頭部からの神経的制御は性フェロモン生成には関与していないことが示された。断頭により性フェロモン放出行動も抑制されたが,その機構が性フェロモン生成の支配機構と共通であるかどうかは不明である。

1981年から1985年まで岡山県内で,ニカメイガにおける交信攪乱法による防除効果を検討した。1) 越冬世代成虫に対する交信攪乱法については,成虫のおもな発生場所が水田外であり,防除効果は,処理方法を改善しない限り,十分期待できないものと考えられた。2) 第一世代成虫に対する交信攪乱法については,蒸発速度を高めることによって,防除効果が期待できる。3) 交信攪乱法に用いるディスペンサーは封入するポリエチレン細管の壁幅を厚くすることによって,蒸発速度を長期間安定化できた。4) 交信攪乱効果は,圃場段階では,Z-11-HDAL単独と3成分とは大差なく,ニカメイガの発生量や蒸発速度の高低が影響するものと考えられた。すなわち,少発生時には約50mg/10a/日でよいが,多発生時には100mg/10a/日以上の蒸発速度が必要であろう。5) 交信攪乱法の処理規模は,極端な大発生でない限り,50a以上であれば十分効果が期待できる。6) 高い防除効果を得るには誘引阻害率が100%,「つなぎ雌」での交尾阻害率が90%以上であることが必要であると示唆された。7) 処理前の被害程度と処理後の被害程度との相関は対照区で高く,処理区では低かった。これは交尾率や卵塊数との関係から交信攪乱処理に起因していると判断された。

A selective and sensitive liquid chromatographic method with fluorescence detection was used to deternube N -acetyl- S -carbethoxycysteine (CMA) in rat and mouse urine. CMA was extracted with ethyl acetate from acidified urine, separated by LC and hydrolysed to N -acetylcysteine ( N -AcCySH) with 1 M NaOH containing glutathione as internal standard. The N -AcCySH was derivatized with ammonium 7-fluoro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole-4-sulphonate (SBD-F) and subjected to LC. SBD-thiols were completely separated on a reversed-phase column (Inertsil ODS) by gradient elution. CMA calibration graphs were linear. When urethane was injected intraperitoneally at doses between 0.05 and 1.0 g kg −1 body weight, CMA excreted in whole urine increased with the dosage until maximum levels were attained at a dose of 0.2 g kg −1 (13.4 nmol in rats and 6.8 nmol in mice). Doses of 0.5 and 1.0 g kg −1 , however, gave less CMA excreted in the urine. CMA was also obtained from rat and mouse urine without administration. Mean amounts of CMA calculated from calibration graphs were 12.5 nmol (rat urine) and 10.7 nmol (mouse urine).
