BackgroundPrevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is indispensable in the treatment of lower limb fractures during the perioperative period. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel model for predicting the risk of DVT in elderly patients after orthopedic surgeries for lower limb fractures.MethodsThis observational study included 576 elderly patients with lower limb fractures who were surgically treated from January 2016 to December 2018. Eleven items affecting DVT were optimized by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression analysis. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to construct a predictive model incorporating the selected features. C-index was applied to evaluate the discrimination. Decision curve analysis was employed to determine the clinical effectiveness of this model and calibration plot was applied to evaluate the calibration of this nomogram. The internal validation of this model was assessed by bootstrapping validation.ResultsPredictive factors that affected the rate of DVT in this model included smoking, time from injury to surgery, operation time, blood transfusion, hip replacement arthroplasty, and D-dimer level after operation. The nomogram showed significant discrimination with a C-index of 0.919 (95% confidence interval: 0.893–0.946) and good calibration. Acceptable C-index value could still be reached in the interval validation. Decision curve analysis indicated that the DVT risk nomogram was useful within all possibility threshold.ConclusionThis newly developed nomogram could be used to predict the risk of DVT in elderly patients with lower limb fractures during the perioperative period.

IntroductionSalbutamol (SAL) is a β2 adrenergic receptor agonist which has potential hazardous effects for human health. It is very important to establish a sensitive and convenient method to monitor SAL.MethodsHere we introduce a method to combine the information from docking and site specific phage display, with the aim to obtain scFv with high affinity to SAL. First, single chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies against SAL were generated through phage display. By using molecular docking approach, the complex structure of SAL with antibody was predicted and indicated that H3 and L3 contribute to the binding. Then new libraries were created by randomization specific residues located on H3 and L3 according to the docking results.Results and discussionAnti-SAL scFv antibodies with high efficiency were finally identified. In addition, the selected scFv was fused with alkaline phosphatase and expressed in E coli to develop a rapid and low-cost one step ELISA to detect SAL.

BackgroundRectal cancer has a high risk of recurrence and metastasis, with median survival ranging from 24 months to 36 months. K-RAS mutation is a predictor of poor prognosis in rectal cancer. Advanced rectal cancer can be stopped in its tracks by pelvic exenteration.Case summaryA 51-year-old woman was diagnosed with advanced rectal cancer (pT4bN2aM1b, stage IV) with the KRAS G12D mutation due to a change in bowel habits. The patient had experienced repeated recurrences of rectal cancer after initial radical resection, and the tumor had invaded the ovaries, sacrum, bladder, vagina and anus. Since the onset of the disease, the patient had undergone a total of seven surgeries and long-term FOLFIRI- or XELOX-based chemotherapy regimens, with the targeted agents bevacizumab and regorafenib. Fortunately, the patient was able to achieve intraoperative R0 resection in almost all surgical procedures and achieve tumor-free survival after pelvic exenteration. The patient has been alive for 86 months since her diagnosis.ConclusionsPatients with advanced rectal cancer can achieve long-term survival through active multidisciplinary management and R0 surgery.

The prognosis for patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC) is poor, with limited treatment options available due to the difficulty of resection. In recent years, chemotherapy and immunotherapy for AGC have shown promising efficacy. However, there is a controversy regarding the surgery of primary tumors and/or metastases in patients with stage IV gastric cancer after systematic therapy. Here, we present a 63-year-old retired female of AGC with supraclavicular metastasis with positive PD-L1 and tumor mutational burden-high (TMB-H). After receiving 8 cycles of capecitabine and oxaliplatin (XELOX) in combination with tislelizumab, the patient achieved complete remission (CR). No evidence of recurrence was identified during follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of AGC with supraclavicular metastasis who achieved CR after treatment with tislelizumab. The mechanism of CR was discussed by genomic and recent clinical studies. The results indicated that programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) combined positive score (CPS) ≥5 may serve as a clinical indication and standard for chemo-immune combination therapy. In combination with other similar reports, patients with microsatellite instability-high/defective mismatch repair (MSI-H/dMMR), (TMB-H), and positive PD-L1 had better sensitivity to tislelizumab. The patient recovered successfully except for symptoms of gastrointestinal hemorrhage during treatment, which may be associated with the treatment cycle and age. Immunotherapy with tislelizumab has been well-established in the treatment of malignant melanoma, lung cancer, and clear-cell kidney cancer, but its efficacy and safety for esophageal and gastric cancers remain to be validated. The CR of our patient suggested the prospects of tislelizumab in the immunotherapy of gastric cancer. Additionally, a watch-and-wait (WW) method maybe offered for patients with AGC who achieved complete clinical remission (CCR) after immune combination therapy if the patient was older or in poor physical condition.

The main, high-brightness neutron source for ESS is based on the low-dimensional moderator concept, and will serve the initial suite of neutron scattering instruments. In the HighNESS project several design options have been identified and investigated for a second source for ESS, intended to be complementary to the primary one. The emphasis of this project, completed in September 2023, was on the design of high-intensity sources, delivering Cold, Very Cold (VCN), and Ultra-Cold Neutrons (UCN). Remarkable results include: a cold moderator based on liquid deuterium capable of delivering an intensity close to a factor 10 greater than the ESS upper moderator; a VCN moderator based on solid deuterium at 5 K, surrounded by nanodiamond layers, delivering brightness above 40 Å an order of magnitude higher than a conventional cold moderator placed in the same location; and several design options for UCN sources based on the use of superfluid helium and solid deuterium. The use of these new sources would have a major impact on fundamental physics experiments and neutron scattering techniques. We investigate the possible impact that these concepts can have for compact sources, with particular emphasis on VCN.

Droplet transport still faces numerous challenges, such as a limited transport distance, large volume loss, and liquid contamination. Inspired by the principle of ‘synergistic biomimetics’, we propose a design for a platform that enables droplets to be self-propelled. The orchid leaf-like three-dimensional driving structure provides driving forces for the liquid droplets, whereas the lotus leaf-like superhydrophobic surface prevents liquid adhesion, and the bamboo-like nodes enable long-distance transport. During droplet transport, no external energy input is required, no fluid adhesion or residue is induced, and no contamination or mass loss of the fluid is caused. We explore the influence of various types and parameters of wedge structures on droplet transportation, the deceleration of droplet speed at nodal points, and the distribution of internal pressure. The results indicate that the transport platform exhibits insensitivity to pH value and temperature. It allows droplets to be transported with varying curvatures in a spatial environment, making it applicable in tasks like target collection, as well as load, fused, anti-gravity, and long-distance transport. The maximum droplet transport speed reached (58 ± 5) mm·s ^−1 , whereas the transport distance extended to (136 ± 4) mm. The developed platform holds significant application prospects in the fields of biomedicine and chemistry, such as high-throughput screening of drugs, genomic bioanalysis, microfluidic chip technology for drug delivery, and analysis of biological samples.

The critical role of the rumen microbiota in the growth performance of livestock is recognized, yet its significance in determining the body weight of goat kids before weaning remains less understood. To bridge this gap, our study delved into the rumen microbiota, serum metabolome, rumen fermentation, and rumen development in goat kids with contrasting body weights before weaning. We selected 10 goat kids from a cohort of 100, categorized into low body weight (LBW, 5.56 ± 0.98 kg) and high body weight (HBW, 9.51 ± 1.01 kg) groups. The study involved sampling rumen contents, tissues, and serum from these animals. Our findings showed that the HBW goat kids showed significant enrichment of VFA-producing bacteria, particularly microbiota taxa within the Prevotellaceae genera (UCG-001, UCG-003, and UCG-004) and the Prevotella genus. This enrichment correlated with elevated acetate and butyrate levels, positively influencing rumen papillae development. Additionally, it was associated with elevated serum levels of glucose, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. The serum metabonomic analysis revealed marked differences in fatty acid metabolism between the LBW and HBW groups, particularly in encompassing oleic acid and both long-chain saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Further correlational analysis underscored a significant positive association between Prevotellaceae_UCG-001 and specific lipids, such as phosphatidylcholine (PC) (22:5/18:3) and PC (20:3/20:1) (r > 0.60, p < 0.05). In summary, this study underscores the pivotal role of the rumen microbiota in goat kids’ weight and its correlation with specific serum metabolites. These insights could pave the way for innovative strategies aimed at improving animal body weight through targeted modulation of the rumen microbiota.

A new type of poly-diamond plate without a catalyst was produced via the high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) compression of diamond powders. The densification of diamond powders and sp3 to sp2 carbon on the surface under HPHT compression was investigated through the characterization of the microstructure, Raman spectroscopy analysis and electrical resistance measurement. The densification and sp3-sp2 transformation on the surface are mainly affected by the pressure, temperature and particle size. The quantitative analysis of the diamond sp3 and sp2 carbon amount was performed through the peak fitting of Raman spectra. It was found that finer diamond particles under a higher temperature and a lower pressure tend to produce more sp2 carbon; otherwise, they produce less. In addition, it is interesting to note that the local residual stresses measured using Raman spectra increase with the diamond particle size. The suspected reason is that the increased particle size reduces the number of contact points, resulting in a higher localized pressure at each contact point. The hypothesis was supported by finite element calculation. This study provides detailed and quantitative data about the densification of diamond powders and sp3 to sp2 transformation on the surface under HPHT treatment, which is valuable for the sintering of polycrystalline diamonds (PCDs) and the HPHT treatment of diamonds.

The positioning accuracy of spacecraft in orbit is easily affected by low-frequency micro-vibrations of the environment and internal disturbances caused by the payload. Inspired by the neck structure of birds, this study devised a piezo-driven active vibration isolation unit with high stiffness. First, a dynamic model and two-sensor feedback control method for the isolation unit were developed, and the isolation mechanism and anti-disturbance characteristics were analyzed. Further, the stability of the closed-loop was verified. Simulation models of serial and parallel systems based on the proposed vibration isolation unit were implemented to demonstrate its feasibility. The results indicate that the proposed isolation units can provide excellent low-frequency vibration isolation performance and inertial stability and that they can effectively resist the internal disturbance of the payload. Moreover, its performance can be further improved via serial or parallel reconfiguration that facilitates its adaptation to the varied isolation requirements of spacecraft.

Magnesium–lithium alloys are arguably the lightest metal structural materials but have low strength. In order to increase strength, friction stir processing (FSP) is applied to a hot-rolled Mg-10Li-3Al-3Zn (LA103Z) sheet to study the effects on the microstructure and mechanical properties. In this study, the strengthening mechanisms of various FSP regions of an Mg-Li alloy were clarified by a combination of numerical simulation and experimental method. Based on ANSYS APDL, a finite element model with a moving heat source is established. Rotational speeds of 800, 1000, and 1200 rpm and traverse speeds of 100, 110, and 120 mm/min were used in this research. The simulation results confirm that the influence of the rotation speed on the alloy temperature field is greater than that of the travel speed. The temperature of the processing area increases with an increase in rotation speed and decreases with an increase in travel speed. Then, hot-rolled LA103Z alloy plates are processed by FSP. The correspondence between the numerical simulation and experiment was verified by infrared thermography. The results indicate that FSP decreases the grain size significantly for the dynamic recrystallization and dramatic mechanical crushing of the stirring pin. The α-Mg and AlLi are solid soluted in the β-Li matrix. The tensile strength of the processing zone is 260.67 MPa (1000 rpm, 110 mm/min) versus the 170.47 MPa of the base metal. The SZ has the highest microhardness of 77.8 HV (800 rpm, 120 mm/min) and decreases gradually to the BM. The severe deformation, recrystallization, and solid solution of the α-Mg are important factors contributing to the improved mechanical properties.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is widely regarded as the midterm solution toward zero-carbon transportation at sea. However, further applications of gas engines are challenging due to their weak dynamic load performance. Therefore, the comprehension of and improvements in the dynamic performance of gas-engine-based power systems are necessary and urgent. A detailed review of research on mechanisms, modeling, and optimization is indispensable to summarize current studies and solutions. Developments in engine air-path systems and power system load control have been summarized and compared. Mechanism studies and modeling methods for engine dynamic performance were investigated and concluded considering the trade-off between precision and simulation cost. Beyond existing studies, this review provides insights into the challenges and potential pathways for future applications in decarbonization and energy diversification. For further utilization of clean fuels, like ammonia and hydrogen, the need for advanced air–fuel ratio control becomes apparent. These measures should be grounded in a deep understanding of current gas engines and the combustion characteristics of new fuels. Additionally, the inherent low inertia feature of electric power systems, and consequently the weak dynamic performance when adopting renewable energies, must be considered and studied to ensure system reliability and safety during transient conditions.

Methyltransferase-like 21C (METTL21C) is a member of the non-histone methyltransferase superfamily, which mainly mediates the methylation of lysine (Lys) residues. The main types of modification are Lys dimethylation and trimethylation. However, at present, most of the studies on METTL21C are focused on humans and mice, and there are few reports on poultry. Therefore, chicken embryo fibroblasts (DF-1) were selected as the object of study. To explore the function of chicken METTL21C (chMETTL21C) in the proliferation of DF-1 cells, flow cytometry and qPCR were used to detect the function of chicken METTL21C in the proliferation of DF-1 cells. The results showed that overexpression of METTL21C blocked the cell cycle in the G1max S phase, thus inhibiting cell proliferation. In addition, based on proteomic analysis, stable overexpression of METTL21C may inhibit the proliferation of DF-1 cells by mediating lysine trimethylation of proliferation-related proteins phosphorylated adapter RNA export protein (PHAX), nucleoside diphosphate kinases (NDPKs), eukaryotic transcription extension factor (eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1A,e EF1A), and inversin (Invs). Through immunoprecipitation (co-IP) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis, METTL21C-mediated PHAX Lys-381 methylation was confirmed to be involved in the regulation of DF-1 cell proliferation. The results of this study provide a reference for analyzing the methylation function of METTL21C and the mechanism of regulating the growth and development of chicken cells.

To achieve exceptional recyclable DC cable insulation material using thermoplastic polypropylene (PP), we have introduced the organic polar molecule styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA) into PP-based insulation materials following the principles of deep trap modification. PP, PP/SMA, PP/ethylene-octene copolymer (POE), and PP/POE/SMA insulating samples were prepared, and their meso-morphology, crystalline morphology, and molecular structure were comprehensively characterized. The results indicate that SMA can be uniformly dispersed in PP with minimal impact on the crystalline morphology of PP. The DC electrical properties of the materials were tested at temperatures of 30, 50, and 70 °C. The findings demonstrate that the introduction of SMA can improve the DC properties of the material in both PP and PP/POE. The thermal stimulated depolarization current results reveal that SMA can introduce deep traps into the material, thereby improving its DC properties, which is in agreement with the quantum chemical calculation results. Subsequently, a bipolar carrier transport model was employed for coaxial cables to simulate the space charge distribution in the insulation layer of the four sets of insulation samples as well as the actual cable in service. The results highlight that SMA can significantly suppress space charge in PP and PP/POE systems, and it exhibits excellent electric field distortion resistance. In summary, the results illustrate that SMA is expected to be used as an organic deep trap modifier in PP-based cable insulation materials.

Since improving floodwater utilization may increase flood risk, flood risk control methods for trade-offs between these factors have research value. This study presented a flood risk control method oriented towards floodwater utilization which considers multiple main flood risk factors. The proposed method not only achieves the boundaries of the flood limited water level (FLWL) under various acceptable risks but also dynamically controls the water level to enhance floodwater utilization. A case study conducted on the Danjiangkou reservoir yielded the following results: (1) The proposed method provides FLWL dynamic control boundaries under various acceptable risks. (2) The proposed method reveals the potential to raise the FLWL, with a possibility to raise it by 1.00 m above the present FLWL under the absence of flood risk. (3) The available flood resources in both the wet and dry seasons increase, on average, by 0.83 and 0.81 billion m3, and the flood risk remains within the acceptable range after raising the FLWL by 1.00 m, which contributes to enhancing floodwater utilization.

Climate warming has resulted in significant changes in permafrost in Northeast China, leading to notable alterations in soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks. These changes are crucial for both the global carbon cycle and climate change, as well as directly impacting the sustainable development of ecosystems. In order to examine the SOC dynamics and the impact of permafrost changes on SOC, we investigate the changes of permafrost extent based on a regression model and TTOP (top temperature of permafrost) model and the relationship between land use and land cover (LULC), SOC stocks, and permafrost changes in Northeast China. The results showing a shrinking permafrost area from 37.43 × 104 km2 to 16.48 × 104 km2 during the period from the 1980s to the 2010s in Northeast China, and the SOC stock decreased by 24.18 Tg C from the 1980s to the 1990s and then rapidly increased by 102.84 Tg C in the 2000s. Permafrost degradation speeds up the succession of LULC, impacting about 90% of the SOC in permafrost regions. The relationship between permafrost changes and SOC in Northeast China shows that permafrost degradation significantly reduces SOC stocks in the short term but increases SOC stocks in the long term, and that LULC play a crucial role in regulating this relationship. The goals of this study are to acquire an understanding of permafrost status and deepening insights into the dynamics of SOC. Simultaneously, the study aims to furnish valuable scientific references for shaping policies on sustainable land use and management in the future, all the while advancing the cause of ecological equilibrium and sustainable development in Northeast China and other areas.

Image captioning has become a hot topic in artificial intelligence research and sits at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. Most recent imaging captioning models have adopted an “encoder + decoder” architecture, in which the encoder is employed generally to extract the visual feature, while the decoder generates the descriptive sentence word by word. However, the visual features need to be flattened into sequence form before being forwarded to the decoder, and this results in the loss of the 2D spatial position information of the image. This limitation is particularly pronounced in the Transformer architecture since it is inherently not position-aware. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a simple coordinate-based spatial position encoding method (CSPE) to remedy this deficiency. CSPE firstly creates the 2D position coordinates for each feature pixel, and then encodes them by row and by column separately via trainable or hard encoding, effectively strengthening the position representation of visual features and enriching the generated description sentences. In addition, in order to reduce the time cost, we also explore a diagonal-based spatial position encoding (DSPE) approach. Compared with CSPE, DSPE is slightly inferior in performance but has a faster calculation speed. Extensive experiments on the MS COCO 2014 dataset demonstrate that CSPE and DSPE can significantly enhance the spatial position representation of visual features. CSPE, in particular, demonstrates BLEU-4 and CIDEr metrics improved by 1.6% and 5.7%, respectively, compared with a baseline model without sequence-based position encoding, and also outperforms current sequence-based position encoding approaches by a significant margin. In addition, the robustness and plug-and-play ability of the proposed method are validated based on a medical captioning generation model.

The Daxing’anling forest region represents a crucial forestry hub in China and confronts some of the nation’s most severe freezing–thawing hazards. This study delved into the temporal trends and spatial distributions of various parameters related to freezing and thawing, including air temperature, ground surface temperature, freezing index, thawing index, and freezing–thawing frequency. Furthermore, this study assessed and delineated freezing–thawing hazards within the research area. The findings revealed a rapid increase in air temperature and ground surface temperature within the Daxing’anling forest region yet a lower rate of increase in ground surface temperature compared to Northeast China. Latitude had the strongest influence on mean annual air temperature, mean annual ground surface temperature, air freezing index, air thawing index, ground surface freezing index, ground surface thawing index, air freezing–thawing frequency, and ground surface freezing–thawing frequency, followed by longitude and elevation. Overall, freezing index, and air freezing–thawing frequency increased from south to north, whereas mean annual air temperature, mean annual ground surface temperature, air thawing index, ground surface thawing index, and ground surface freezing–thawing frequency decreased from south to north. The assessment outcomes underscore the importance of closely monitoring freezing–thawing hazards in regions north of the 50th parallel.

The anisotropy of mechanical properties in SLMed alloy is very important. In order to realize the homogeneity of the microstructure and mechanical properties of GH3536 alloy prepared by selective laser melting (SLM), the as-deposited samples were treated by hot isostatic pressing and then forged at different temperatures. The microstructure, grain size, room- and high- temperature tensile properties, and endurance properties of the samples were studied. The results showed that the microstructure of the sample was mainly equiaxed austenite phase, and granular carbides were precipitated inside the grains after forging treatment, resulting in the anisotropy of the sample almost disappearing. The grain boundary phase difference distribution was most concentrated at 60°. The grain size was less than 10 μm, and a large number of twins were formed. With the increase in forging temperature, the yield strength, tensile strength, and contraction of area of the samples changed little, and the properties parallel to the z-axis (parallel samples) and vertical to the z-axis (vertical samples) were almost the same. In particular, the yield strength, tensile strength, and contraction of area in the transverse and vertical samples were almost at the same level. Judging from the elongation after fracture and the contraction of area, the properties of the samples showed characteristics of anisotropy after a high temperature endurance test.

(1) Background: CREB-binding protein (CBP) is a key transcriptional coactivator of androgen receptors (AR). We conducted this study to investigate the effects of CBP on AR expression and proliferation in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) prostate epithelial cells. (2) Methods: By analyzing a published data set, we found that CBP was closely related to the gene expression of AR in prostate cells. We enrolled 20 BPH patients who underwent transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in Peking University First Hospital in 2022, and analyzed the expressions of CBP and AR in BPH prostate tissues. Then, we used ICG-001 and shRNA to inhibit CBP in prostate epithelial cells (BPH-1 cells and RWPE-1 cells), and conducted immunofluorescence, cell viability assay, flow cytometry analysis, and Western blot to analyze the effects of CBP on AR expression and proliferation in prostate epithelial cells. We also studied the interaction between CBP and AR through a co-immunoprecipitation assay. (3) Results: CBP is consistent with AR in expression intensity in prostate tissues. Inhibiting CBP decreases AR expression, and induces proliferation inhibition, apoptosis, and cell cycle arrest in BPH prostate epithelial cells. The co-immunoprecipitation assay showed that CBP binds with AR to form transcription complexes in prostate epithelial cells. (4) Conclusions: Inhibiting CBP decreases AR expression and inhibits proliferation in benign prostate epithelial cells. CBP may be a potential target to affect AR expression and the proliferation of prostate epithelial cells in BPH.

The present study aims to investigate effects of total flavonoids from Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz. (FT) on fermentation quality, antioxidant status, and microbial community of Caragana korshinskii Kom. (CK) silage. CK was ensiled with no additive (CON), 1% FT, and 2% FT on a fresh weight (FW) basis for 60 days. The results showed that 1% FT and 2% FT groups displayed higher DM content than CON group, and 2% FT group had the best effect on nutrient preservation. Compared with CON and 1% FT groups, 2% FT group exhibited the best silage fermentation quality and the highest antioxidant activity, including increased lactic acid, acetic acid concentrations, and the activities of antioxidant enzymes, as well as decreased pH and the ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) concentration. Moreover, the addition of 2% FT significantly affected the microbial community, such as increased abundance of Lactobacillus and decreased abundances of Pseudomonas and unidentified Cyanobacteria. The abundances of Lactobacillus parafarraginis and Lactobacillus brevis were negatively correlated to pH, while they were positively correlated with T-AOC, GSH-Px, and CAT activities. In conclusion, 2% FT may be used as additives to promote the fermentation quality and antioxidant activity of CK silage.

Abstract This experiment was conducted with lactating Chinese Holstein cows to study the nutritional value of local protein feed resources. A three-step method (TSP) and a modified three-step method (MTSP) were used to measure the in vitro digestibility of rumen undegraded protein (RUP) for 11 feedstuffs and correlation. Eleven experimental feeds were chosen and air-dried to investigate the effects of different growth periods and varieties on nutrition value and RUP digestibility. The small intestinal digestibility of RUP by TSP in concentrated feed was determined to be higher than that of roughage, approximately 65%. The highest concentrate (79%) was SBM (soybean mean), while the lowest was corn (65%). The proportions of DDGS (with soluble wine lees) and SFM (sunflower meal) were 70.9 and 74.9%, respectively. ASS (alfalfa mowed at the squaring stage) had the highest small intestinal digestibility of RUP (55%) among roughages, and WCS (whole-plant corn silage) had the lowest digestibility (40.5%). When the small intestinal digestibility of RUP was determined using the MTSP method, it exhibited similar results to the TSP method. Nevertheless, the values were generally higher, and there was a strong significant correlation between them (R2 = 0.967, P < 0.01). The comparative study of these two methods help us have a better understanding of small intestine digestibility of different feeds, make a reasonable feed formula to effectively prevent diseases.

Abstract To systematically evaluate the effects of metformin on tumors in experimental animal models of different types of cancer. Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies on metformin used in various experimental animal tumor models from 2008 to 2022. Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 16.0 software after screening literature extraction data and methodological quality evaluation by inclusion and exclusion criteria. A total of 24 studies with 1108 model animals were included. Meta-analysis results showed that this study used meta-analysis for quantitative synthesis of study results and found that tumor model animals of different species showed different degrees of reduction in tumor volume, weight, and number after metformin intervention.

The traditional wired charging of robot has the disadvantages of inconvenient charging and manual operation for electrical connection. With the continuous development of radio power transmission, the disadvantages of wired charging are overcome, and the charging process does not need manual intervention. At present, a single compensation network is often used to charge the robot wirelessly, but the single compensation network only has constant current or constant voltage output capability. When the constant voltage or constant current mode is switched in the charging process, additional DC–DC​ circuit is needed for control, which increases the difficulty of system design and system volume, and the control is also more complex. In this paper, based on the robot wireless charging system, a coupling mechanism which can switch topology is designed. The LCC-S/ LCC compensation network is used. In the charging process, the constant current and constant voltage charging mode is switched by switching the compensation network at the receiving end, which simplifies the design difficulty, volume and control method of the system. Finally, an experimental platform is built, and the experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed topology and control method.

Abstract Sodium dinitrophenol, which was a cheap and common plant growth regulator, was used to fabricate novel carbon dots by a simple and green hydrothermal treatment. The sodium dinitrophenol derived CDs (SCDs) obtained were found to possess good water solubility, excellent stability, and unique fluorescence properties. Furthermore, the effect of SCDs on the seed germination of cotton was explored in dark environment. Interestingly, the SCDs could promote seed germination obviously and the optimum concentration was tested to be 0.02 mg/mL. By the analysis of the contents of free water and bound water for the sprouts, it was assumed that the phenomenon might be attributed to the enhancement of the respiration and metabolism by the addition of SCDs, which helped to relieve seed dormancy and promote germination. This work supplied a novel nanomaterials for seed treatment, which could enhance the respiration during germination and showed considerable prospect in biological technology and farming production.

Abstract High‐frequency sinusoidal voltage excitation is proposed as a feasible method to solve the difficulty of partial discharge detection at the epoxy interface. In order to study the development process of partial discharge under high‐frequency stress, a two‐dimensional plasma simulation model of partial discharge for a needle‐plate electrode structure is established by coupling particle transport equation, Poisson equation and plasma chemical reaction. The model adopts a reaction set to reduce the difficulty of modelling generation, transport and disappearance of charged particles. It realises dynamic simulation of the partial discharge at the epoxy interface. The spatial–temporal distribution characteristics of microscopic parameters such as electron density, electron temperature and surface charge are obtained. Based on this simulation model, the partial discharge characteristics of the epoxy interface at different frequencies are further studied in this work. The results show that with the increase of applied voltage frequency, the electron temperature shows an increasing trend, but its increasing rate gradually slows down; while surface charge accumulation decreases uniformly with the increase of applied voltage frequency. These two factors make the partial discharge severest under the frequency of 10 kHz. The results of the model are verified from two aspects of discharge form and discharge intensity by experimental means.

Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common and progressive urological disease in elderly men worldwide. Epidemiological studies have suggested that the speed of disease progression varies among individuals, while the pathophysiological mechanisms of accelerated clinical progression in some BPH patients remain to be elucidated. In this study, we defined patients with BPH as belonging to the accelerated progressive group (transurethral resection of the prostate [TURP] surgery at ≤50 years old), normal-speed progressive group (TURP surgery at ≥70 years old), or non-progressive group (age ≤50 years old without BPH-related surgery). We enrolled prostate specimens from the three groups of patients and compared these tissues to determine the histopathological characteristics and molecular mechanisms underlying BPH patients with accelerated progression. We found that the main histopathological characteristics of accelerated progressive BPH tissues were increased stromal components and prostatic fibrosis, which were accompanied by higher myofibroblast accumulation and collagen deposition. Mechanism dissection demonstrated that these accelerated progressive BPH tissues have higher expression of the CYP19 and G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) with higher estrogen biosynthesis. Estrogen functions via GPER/Gαi signaling to modulate the EGFR/ERK and HIF-1α/TGF-β1 signaling to increase prostatic stromal cell proliferation and prostatic stromal fibrosis. The increased stromal components and prostatic fibrosis may accelerate the clinical progression of BPH. Targeting this newly identified CYP19/estrogen/GPER/Gαi signaling axis may facilitate the development of novel personalized therapeutics to better suppress the progression of BPH.

Abstract Considering the excessively high onset potential on pure Ni catalyst and the generation of gaseous products in carbohydrazide (CHZ) electrooxidation, a self‐supporting and shell‐core Pd−Ni@Ni nanowire arrays (NAs) catalytic electrode is prepared by the first templating electrodeposition of Ni and the subsequent galvanic replacement of Pd. The introduction of Pd with minute mass loadings of 2.7–5.3 μg cm−2 enables a negative shift of onset potential of CHZ electrooxidation by 320 mV regardless of Ni supports. Pd in Ni@Pd−Ni NAs electrode can facilitate the chemical dissociation of CHZ into N2H4 and/or H2 and then provoke the occurrence of side reactions, i. e., N2H4 and/or H2 electrooxidation. The direct CHZ fuel cell made of Ni@Pd−Ni NAs anode delivers an open circuit voltage of 1.05 V and a peak power density of 22.90 mV cm−2 at the operating temperature of 303 K.

BackgroundRecent studies have shown that the infectivity of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is reduced under alkaline conditions. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of nasal irrigation and oral rinse with sodium bicarbonate solution on virus clearance among COVID-19 patients.Materials and methodsCOVID-19 patients were recruited and randomly divided into two group, i.e., the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received regular care plus nasal irrigation and oral rinse with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, while the control group only received regular care. Nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab samples were collected daily for reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assays. The negative conversion time and hospitalization time of the patients were recorded, and the results were statistically analyzed.ResultsA total of 55 COVID-19 patients with mild or moderate symptoms were included in our study. There was no significant difference in gender, age and health status between the two groups. The average negative conversion time was 1.63 days after treatment with sodium bicarbonate, and the average hospitalization time of the control group and the experimental group were 12.53 and 7.7 days, respectively.ConclusionsNasal irrigation and oral rinse with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution is effective in virus clearance for COVID-19 patients.

IntroductionAutomated diagnosis of intracranial hemorrhage on head computed tomography (CT) plays a decisive role in clinical management. This paper presents a prior knowledge-based precise diagnosis of blend sign network from head CT scans.MethodWe employ the object detection task as an auxiliary task in addition to the classification task, which could incorporate the hemorrhage location as prior knowledge into the detection framework. The auxiliary task could help the model pay more attention to the regions with hemorrhage, which is beneficial for distinguishing the blend sign. Furthermore, we propose a self-knowledge distillation strategy to deal with inaccuracy annotations.ResultsIn the experiment, we retrospectively collected 1749 anonymous non-contrast head CT scans from the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. The dataset contains three categories: no intracranial hemorrhage (non-ICH), normal intracranial hemorrhage (normal ICH), and blend sign. The experimental results demonstrate that our method performs better than other methods.DiscussionOur method has the potential to assist less-experienced head CT interpreters, reduce radiologists' workload, and improve efficiency in natural clinical settings.

Abstract Purpose To explore and analyze the causes and related influencing factors of pediatric fractures, and provide theoretical basis for reducing the incidence and adverse effects of pediatric fractures. Methods This study retrospectively analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of fractures in pediatric aged ≤18 years old who were admitted to the our hospital between July 2015 and February 2020. Results A total of 10,486 pediatric patients were included in the study, of whom 6961 (66.38%) were boys, and 3525 (33.62%) were girls. For the fracture incidence, age group of the 3-6 years reached the peak. 5584 (60.76%) children were operated upon within 12 h after admission. The top three types of fractures were the distal humerus (3843 sites, 27.49%), distal ulna (1740 sites, 12.44%), and distal radius (1587 sites, 11.35%). The top three causes of injury were falls (7106 cases, 82.10%), car accidents (650 cases, 65.72%), and clipping (465 cases, 5.37%). Fractures predominantly occurred between July and November (4664 cases, 48.87%) and on Saturdays and Sundays (3172 cases, 33.24%). The highest number of hospital visits occurred between 20:00 and 00:00 (4339 cases, 45.46%). Conclusion For pediatric fractures, we should take appropriate and effective preventive measures to reduce the incidence of children’s fractures according to the distribution characteristics of age, gender, cause of injury, and fracture site.

An in-situ measurement device combining contact probe and capacitive displacement sensor is developed. An aspherical measurement and compensation machining software is also developed. The single point diamond ultra precision cutting experiments for C3604 brass spherical and aspherical surface are carried out. The in-situ measurement and compensation machining experiments are also carried out. After compensation machining, the spherical surface form accuracy PV reaches 231.4 nm, and the aspheric surface form accuracy PV reaches 206.3 nm. Compared with the off-line measurement results, the difference between the results is 3.0 nm, 7.0 nm respectively, the measuring accuracy of the in-situ measurement system and the validity of compensation machining are verified.

AIM: To demonstrate an improved surgical technique of whole piece consecutive internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling without preservation of the epi-fovea to treat high myopic foveoschisis (MF). METHODS: A 23-gauge 3-port pars plana vitrectomy was performed on 16 patients with high MF. A parallel arc line along the vascular arcades was scraped out with a curved membrane scraper DSP. Next, an ILM forceps was used to catch hold of the incisal edge of the ILM flap, and the action of releasing and separating was subsequently taken toward the direction of the macular fovea. Next, the ILM forceps was used to grasp the released area, and the whole area coherent ILM peeling covering the macular fovea was implemented thereafter. Finally, the ILM was folded backwards and peeled off in the arc direction. RESULTS: At the final visit, the average central macular thickness decreased remarkably from 423.76±177.67 to 178.24±66.21 μm. The mean logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity of 1.37±0.59 was significantly alleviated to 0.74±0.59. CONCLUSION: The wide range of whole piece consecutive ILM peeling without preservation of the epi-fovea is proven to be effective and significantly reduced the occurrence of retinal tear and macular hole.

Abstract Background Synchronous peritoneal metastasis of colorectal cancer usually predicts a bleak prognosis. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and cytoreductive surgery (CRS) have brought a glimmer of hope to the treatment of peritoneal cancer. Few cases treated with lobaplatin have been reported in the literature and the regimen is controversial. In this case, the comprehensive treatment scheme of lobaplatin-based HIPEC plus CRS and rechallenge using cetuximab plus systemic chemotherapy is effective, especially for the patients with left colon cancer (wild-type RAS). Case presentation A 49 year-old man with signet ring cell carcinoma of sigmoid colon with extensive abdominal metastasis (wild-type RAS) was hospitalized with prolonged abdominal pain, distention and abdominal mass. After receiving HIPEC with lobaplatin and XELOX regimen combined with cetuximab for eight cycles, the patient had been treated with the FOLFIRI regimen and cetuximab for 24 cycles, which discontinued due to myelosuppression. Because the disease recurred unfortunately 4 months later, the FOLFIRI + cetuximab regimen was initiated again and stopped after two cycles. Intestinal obstruction occurred 1 month later, so open total colectomy, CRS + HIPEC and ileorectal anastomosis were performed. Capecitabine adjuvant chemotherapy was administered, followed by the maintenance therapy with FOLFIRI + cetuximab regimen. After that, the patient has been in relatively stable condition. By August 2021, the overall survival is more than 45 months, which displays significant curative effect. Conclusion For peritoneal metastasis from left colon cancer, the management with CRS + lobaplatin HIPEC and rechallenge of systemic chemotherapy plus targeted medicine based on gene detection can dramatically improve prognosis and extend the overall survival.

Background Traumatic posterior atlantoaxial dislocation (PAAD) without fracture of the odontoid process is a rare injury. Closed reduction by skull traction under C‐arm fluoroscopic guidance and open reduction have been reported previously for the treatment of PAAD. Objective To report a rare case of PAAD without fracture treated by closed manual reduction and posterior fixation. To provide a new method—atlantoaxial dynamic test—for confirming the integrity of the transverse ligament after reduction and evaluate the ideal treatment strategy for traumatic PAAD without fracture of the odontoid process or rupture of the transverse ligament. Method A 54‐year‐old woman was riding in the passenger seat when her vehicle was rear‐ended by a car. X‐ray and computed tomography (CT) scans were used to diagnose PAAD without a related fracture. Closed manual reduction under C‐arm fluoroscopy was performed after applying general anesthesia via sober intubation, and the integrity of the transverse ligament was confirmed by the atlantoaxial dynamic test with C‐arm fluoroscopy. Then, pedicle screw internal fixation via the posterior approach was applied to maintain atlantoaxial stability. Results The procedure was performed uneventfully, and the patient was able to move out of bed on the first day after surgery with Philadelphia cervical gear. During a 2‐year follow‐up period, imaging data demonstrated no instability of the atlantoaxial complex. Conclusion Closed manual reduction under C‐arm fluoroscopy is an easy and effective method for PAAD. The integrity of the transverse ligament can be confirmed by C‐arm fluoroscopy through the atlantoaxial dynamic test after reduction. Pedicle screw internal fixation via the posterior approach can provide sufficient stability.

Dongting Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in China and an internationally critical habitat for migratory birds. However, after 2004, the multiyear mean water levels of West Dongting Lake (WDL), South Dongting Lake (SDL), and East Dongting Lake (EDL) in the high-water stage decreased by 1.05 m, 1.15 m, and 1.32 m, respectively. Different areas of Dongting Lake experienced various degrees of shrinkage. It is necessary to study the dominant driving factors and their contributions to the falling water level. In this study, the water level changes in Dongting Lake were analyzed, and a long short-term memory neural network model was constructed to simulate the water level of Dongting Lake. Moreover, the contribution of changes in streamflow and topographic conditions to the water level changes in different areas of Dongting Lake was estimated with scenario analysis. The research results show that the changes in the streamflow were the main driving factors for the water level decline of WDL, SDL, and EDL in the high-water stage, and their contributions were 0.74 m, 0.97 m, and 1.16 m, respectively. The topographic changes had a great falling effect on the water level of Dongting Lake, and the falling effect on the water levels from October to June of the following year was the strongest in EDL (0.81 m), followed by WDL (0.49 m), and the weakest in SDL (0.3 m). These results can provide a scientific reference for the management of the water resources of Dongting Lake.

Two-dimensional (2D) bismuth oxyhalides (BiOX) have attracted much attention as potential optoelectronic materials. To explore their application diversity, we herewith systematically investigate the tunable properties of 2D BiOX using first-principles calculations. Their electronic and optical properties can be modulated by changing the number of monolayers, applying strain, and/or varying the halogen composition. The band gap shrinks monotonically and approaches the bulk value, the optical absorption coefficient increases, and the absorption spectrum redshifts as the layer number of 2D BiOX increases. The carrier transport property can be improved by applying tensile strain, and the ability of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution can be obtained by applying compressive strain. General strain engineering will be effective in linearly tuning the band gap of BiOX in a wide strain range. Strain, together with halogen composition variation, can tune the optical absorption spectrum to be on demand in the range from visible to ultraviolet. This suggests that 2D BiOX materials can potentially serve as tunable novel photodetectors, can be used to improve clean energy techniques, and have potential in the field of flexible optoelectronics.

In response to the problem of high computational and parameter requirements of fatigued-driving detection models, as well as weak facial-feature keypoint extraction capability, this paper proposes a lightweight and real-time fatigued-driving detection model based on an improved YOLOv5s and Attention Mesh 3D keypoint extraction method. The main strategies are as follows: (1) Using Shufflenetv2_BD to reconstruct the Backbone network to reduce parameter complexity and computational load. (2) Introducing and improving the fusion method of the Cross-scale Aggregation Module (CAM) between the Backbone and Neck networks to reduce information loss in shallow features of closed-eyes and closed-mouth categories. (3) Building a lightweight Context Information Fusion Module by combining the Efficient Multi-Scale Module (EAM) and Depthwise Over-Parameterized Convolution (DoConv) to enhance the Neck network’s ability to extract facial features. (4) Redefining the loss function using Wise-IoU (WIoU) to accelerate model convergence. Finally, the fatigued-driving detection model is constructed by combining the classification detection results with the thresholds of continuous closed-eye frames, continuous yawning frames, and PERCLOS (Percentage of Eyelid Closure over the Pupil over Time) of eyes and mouth. Under the premise that the number of parameters and the size of the baseline model are reduced by 58% and 56.3%, respectively, and the floating point computation is only 5.9 GFLOPs, the average accuracy of the baseline model is increased by 1%, and the Fatigued-recognition rate is 96.3%, which proves that the proposed algorithm can achieve accurate and stable real-time detection while lightweight. It provides strong support for the lightweight deployment of vehicle terminals.

To achieve a non-destructive and rapid detection of oyster freshness, an intelligent method using deep learning fused with malondialdehyde (MDA) and total sulfhydryl groups (SH) information was proposed. In this study, an “MDA-SH-storage days” polynomial fitting model and oyster meat image dataset were first built. AleNet-MDA and AlxNet-SH classification models were then constructed to automatically identify and classify four levels of oyster meat images with overall accuracies of 92.72% and 94.06%, respectively. Next, the outputs of the two models were used as the inputs to “MDA-SH-storage days” model, which ultimately succeeded in predicting the corresponding MDA content, SH content and storage day for an oyster image within 0.03 ms. Furthermore, the interpretability of the two models for oyster meat image were also investigated by feature visualization and strongest activations techniques. Thus, this study brings new thoughts on oyster freshness prediction from the perspective of computer vision and artificial intelligence.

MIKC-type MADS-box genes, also known as type II genes, play a crucial role in regulating the formation of floral organs and reproductive development in plants. However, the genome-wide identification and characterization of type II genes as well as a transcriptomic survey of their potential roles in Carica papaya remain unresolved. Here, we identified and characterized 24 type II genes in the C. papaya genome, and investigated their evolutional scenario and potential roles with a widespread expression profile. The type II genes were divided into thirteen subclades, and gene loss events likely occurred in papaya, as evidenced by the contracted member size of most subclades. Gene duplication mainly contributed to MIKC-type gene formation in papaya, and the duplicated gene pairs displayed prevalent expression divergence, implying the evolutionary significance of gene duplication in shaping the diversity of type II genes in papaya. A large-scale transcriptome analysis of 152 samples indicated that different subclasses of these genes showed distinct expression patterns in various tissues, biotic stress response, and abiotic stress response, reflecting their divergent functions. The hub-network of male and female flowers and qRT-PCR suggested that TT16-3 and AGL8 participated in male flower development and seed germination. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the evolution and functions of MIKC-type genes in C. papaya.

(1) Background: To simulate the micro-vibration environment of the star sensor mounting surface, a multi-dimensional micro-vibration simulator based on the Gough–Stewart platform was designed, which could effectively reproduce space six-dimensional acceleration; (2) Methods: Firstly, the integrated design of a gravity unloading system and micro-vibration simulation platform was adopted, and the first six natural frequencies and mode diagrams of the simulator were obtained by modal analysis. Then, the complete dynamic equation of the simulator was established, and the relationship between the acceleration of the upper platform and the driving force of the legs was deduced, which was verified by co-simulation. Finally, the whole machine test was carried out using the frequency response function based on the actual simulator without multiple iterations; (3) Results: The test results show that the micro-vibration simulator can reproduce space six-dimensional acceleration, with an output bandwidth of 5–300 Hz, and maximum error of 9.19%; (4) Conclusions: The micro-vibration simulator platform has the characteristics of a highly precise, large analog bandwidth and takes up less space, is conducive to transportation, and can accurately reproduce the six-degree-of-freedom space micro-vibrations for the star sensor.

Mammals exhibit circadian rhythms in their behavior and physiological activities to adapt to the diurnal changes of the environment. Improper feeding methods can disrupt the natural habits of animals and harm animal health. This study investigated the effects of feeding amount and feeding time on growing rabbits in northern China during spring. A total of 432 healthy 35-day-old weaned rabbits with similar body weight were randomly assigned to four groups: whole day diet-unrestricted feeding (WUF), whole day diet-restricted feeding (WRF), nighttime diet-unrestricted feeding (NUF), and nighttime diet-restricted feeding (NRF). The results showed that nighttime diet-unrestricted feeding improved performance, circadian rhythm of behavior, and body temperature, while reducing the risk of diarrhea and death. WRF group increased daytime body temperature but had no significant difference in feed conversion rate. The study suggests that nighttime diet-unrestricted feeding in spring can improve the growth and welfare of rabbits in northern China. Our study underscores the pivotal role of feeding timing in enhancing animal health. Future investigations should delve into the underlying mechanisms and expand the application of this strategy across seasons and regions to improve rabbit husbandry practices.

Microneedle puncture is a standard minimally invasive treatment and surgical method, which is widely used in extracting blood, tissues, and their secretions for pathological examination, needle-puncture-directed drug therapy, local anaesthesia, microwave ablation needle therapy, radiotherapy, and other procedures. The use of robots for microneedle puncture has become a worldwide research hotspot, and medical imaging navigation technology plays an essential role in preoperative robotic puncture path planning, intraoperative assisted puncture, and surgical efficacy detection. This paper introduces medical imaging technology and minimally invasive puncture robots, reviews the current status of research on the application of medical imaging navigation technology in minimally invasive puncture robots, and points out its future development trends and challenges.

Motor endplates (MEPs) are important sites of information exchange between motor neurons and skeletal muscle, and are distributed in an organized pattern of lamellae in the muscle. Delayed repair of peripheral nerve injury typically results in unsatisfactory functional recovery because of MEP degeneration. In this study, the mouse tibial nerve was transected and repaired with a biodegradable chitin conduit, immediately following or 1 or 3 months after the injury. Fluorescent α-bungarotoxin was injected to label MEPs. Tissue optical clearing combined with light-sheet microscopy revealed that MEPs were distributed in an organized pattern of lamellae in skeletal muscle after delayed repair for 1 and 3 months. However, the total number of MEPs, the number of MEPs per lamellar cluster, and the maturation of single MEPs in gastrocnemius muscle gradually decreased with increasing denervation time. These findings suggest that delayed repair can restore the spatial distribution of MEPs, but it has an adverse effect on the homogeneity of MEPs in the lamellar clusters and the total number of MEPs in the target muscle. The study procedures were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Peking University People’s Hospital (approval No. 2019PHC015) on April 8, 2019.

Although autologous nerve transplantation is the gold standard for treating peripheral nerve defects, it has many clinical limitations. As an alternative, various tissue-engineered nerve grafts have been developed to substitute for autologous nerves. In this study, a novel nerve graft composed of chitin scaffolds and a small autologous nerve was used to repair sciatic nerve defects in rats. The novel nerve graft greatly facilitated regeneration of the sciatic nerve and myelin sheath, reduced atrophy of the target muscle, and effectively restored neurological function. When the epineurium of the small autogenous nerve was removed, the degree of nerve regeneration was similar to that which occurs after autogenous nerve transplantation. These findings suggest that our novel nerve graft might eventually be a new option for the construction of tissue-engineered nerve scaffolds. In this paper, the consensus problem of heterogeneous multi-agent systems under directed topology is investigated. Specifically, this system is composed of three classes of agents respectively described by first-order, second-order and third-order integrator dynamics. By the aid of linear filter, graph theory and matrix theory, the consensus problem is realized based on the two proposed consensus protocols. Moreover, group consensus can also be solved by adjusting parameters. Finally, some examples were presented to illustrate the theoretical results. Our study is expected to establish a more realistic model and provide a method to solve the consensus problem of heterogeneous multi-agent systems in more complex situations.

Landslide risk assessment is an important component of the landslide research field. For the problem of landslide assessment indicators, we utilize the TOPSIS-Entropy method to assess the risk situation of landslide occurrences, which is easy to obtain directly from sensor data. By using the TOPSIS-Entropy method in landslide datasets, the instability margins of landslide risk are obtained, reflecting the current instability probability of the landslide body. For the landslide prediction issue, deep neural networks are used to predict the corresponding landslide instability margins (LIMs). Attention mechanism-based (Attn) temporal convolutional networks (TCN) connected with recurrent neural network (RNN) models for landslide risk prediction are proposed, including TCN-Attn-RNN and RNN-Attn-TCN, which both use an encoder–decoder architecture. The encoder in the first model uses the temporal convolutional network (TCN), and the decoder uses a neural network with an RNN architecture, including long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, gated recurrent units (GRUs), and their derivative algorithms. In the second model, the encoder uses a neural network with an RNN architecture, and the decoder uses a TCN. Combining the TOPSIS-Entropy method with TCN-Attn-RNN and RNN-Attn-TCN, reliable prediction models of landslide risk are proposed. By building a landslide simulation platform, we obtained landslide data. Compared to their counterparts, the proposed prediction models of landslide risk instability margins have better predictive effects.

The synthesis of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) by flame aerosol is of great significance to realize industrial large-scale production of UCNPs and develop nanotechnology further. Here, for the first time, we successfully fabricated the ultrasmall Y2O3:Yb3+/Ho3+ UCNPs by a self-build swirl flame spray pyrolysis (SFSP) method with a high production rate of ∼40 g$ \cdot $ h−1. These flame-made UCNPs are all pure cubic phases with an average ultrasmall size of ∼14 nm. Excited by 980 nm laser, the synthesized UCNPs show bright green (2F4, 5S2 → 5I8) and relatively weak red (5F5 → 5I8) upconversion luminescence (UCL). Based on the UCL spectra of Y2O3:Yb3+/Ho3+ UCNPs, the optimal doping concentrations of 6 mol% Yb3+ and 0.1 mol% Ho3+ were determined to reach the most intense UCL. The dependence of UCL intensity and pump power was further analyzed, and it indicated that the green and red UCL are two-photon processes. In addition, the UCL properties with different synthesized conditions were also demonstrated. The UCL mechanism of these flame-made Y2O3:Yb3+/Ho3+ UCNPs were illustrated in detail. Our results prove that industrial large-scale production of continuous one-step synthesis of UCNPs by flame aerosol technology is completely feasible and deserves further study.
