In this paper, we consider the issue of the secure transmissions for the cognitive radio-based Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) with wireless energy harvesting. In these systems, a primary transmitter (PT) will transmit its sensitive medical information to a primary receiver (PR) by a multi-antenna-based secondary transmitter (ST), where we consider that a potential eavesdropper may listen to the PT's sensitive information. Meanwhile, the ST also transmits its own information concurrently by utilizing spectrum sharing. We aim to propose a novel scheme for jointly designing the optimal parameters, i.e., energy harvesting (EH) time ratio and secure beamforming vectors, for maximizing the primary secrecy transmission rate while guaranteeing secondary transmission requirement. For solving the nonconvex optimization problem, we transfer the problem into convex optimization form by adopting the semidefinite relaxation (SDR) method and Charnes–Cooper transformation technique. Then, the optimal secure beamforming vectors and energy harvesting duration can be obtained easily by utilizing the CVX tools. According to the simulation results of secrecy transmission rate, i.e., secrecy capacity, we can observe that the proposed protocol for the considered system model can effectively promote the primary secrecy transmission rate when compared with traditional zero-forcing (ZF) scheme, while ensuring the transmission rate of the secondary system. In order to solve the problem of effective allocation of spectrum resources and provide an effective spectrum access method for the Internet of Things, a cognitive wireless system based on MCCDMA structure is proposed, and the performance of the system is studied. Two strategies named Underlay and Overlay are proposed and corresponding BER performance are analyzed when the main users are occupying the spectrum. The trend of probability of outage are researched when the number of secondary users are mutative. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the cognitive wireless system can use spectrum resources more flexibly and effectively, which is very suitable for application in IoT systems. In recent years, the social internet of things (SIoT) has become a research hot topic in the field of wireless networks, which are inseparable relationships between human and devices for internet of things. As a huge numbers of mobile devices will be connected, it needs more frequency spectrum. The Cognitive radio (CR) technology can improve spectrum utilization in an opportunistic communication manner for SIoT, which is called CR-SIoT. However, dynamic spectrum availability and mobile devices make it more difficult for routing design in CR-SIoT. Opportunistic routing (OR) can mitigate drawbacks from CR-SIoT, which leverages the broadcast nature of wireless channels, and then can enhance network performance. In this work, we propose an energy aware coded OR in CR-SIoT from a different types of flows perspective, which jointly considers energy efficiency and social feature for designing coded OR. In the proposed scheme, we exploit a new routing metric and an auction model for selecting forwarding candidates and use network coding for the data transmission between selected nodes in CR-SIoT. In addition, we prove the candidate selection problem is NP-hard and propose a game-theoretic approach to allocate channels which is based on interference graph. Extensive simulation results show that the proposed coded opportunistic routing performs better compared with existing routing schemes in terms of packet delivery ratio, delay and hop count. The study aims to identify the consumption and consumption habit of traditional radio and on line radio, which the students of the 13 faculties of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz Bolivia, during October and November 2019. The methodological approach of the research is quantitative, with a descriptive design, which applies a survey through a questionnaire administered to 1012 students, women (51%) and men (49%). The investigation concludes that traditional radio is in force in university audiences, because a large part of them listen to it (92%). Consumption is due to the accessibility of the environment (57%); although, its uses make it take a short time, between 15 to 30 minutes (26%) and 30 minutes to 1 hour (25%); but, on a sustained basis (every day (92%)) during different times of the day (morning (36%), afternoon (27%) and night (30%)). These audiences prefer music (26%), humor and entertainment programs (15%) and news (13%). Radio is still a converging medium, because students consume it from their cell phones (47%) and traditional radio (42%). Digital media has occupied an important role in our current globalized society. The borders became closer by means of instantaneous communication and the use of digital artifacts that occupy a central place in daily life communication. This new form of communication uses language as a tool and resignifies the ways by which we understand language and communicative interactions between people. Written and oral modalities mix ad interpenetrate on the screen of mobile apps and social networks. By means of analysing Indigenous Radio Web Yandê, we will focus on questions of literacy in the perspective of New Literacy Studies, ethnomedia and online language Discursive practices will be analysed according to the perspective of critical literacy, whose ideological aspects are implicated in the social practices of literacy. Indigenous people's identity is represented through ethnomedia which has as its basis the notions of resistance and the representations of ethnic and cultural aspects of these people. We draw upon Barton and Lee's (2015) theoretical assumptions about online language and upon the New Literacies Studies developed mainly by Barton and Hamilton (1994); Street (2007); Kleiman (1995); Kleiman and De Grande (2015) and Kleiman and Sito (2016). This paper introduces a large-scale, validated database for Persian called Sharif Emotional Speech Database (ShEMO). The database includes 3000 semi-natural utterances, equivalent to 3 h and 25 min of speech data extracted from online radio plays. The ShEMO covers speech samples of 87 native-Persian speakers for five basic emotions including anger, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise, as well as neutral state. Twelve annotators label the underlying emotional state of utterances and majority voting is used to decide on the final labels. According to the kappa measure, the inter-annotator agreement is 64% which is interpreted as "substantial agreement". We also present benchmark results based on common classification methods in speech emotion detection task. According to the experiments, support vector machine achieves the best results for both gender-independent (58.2%) and gender-dependent models (female = 59.4%, male = 57.6%). Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to discuss the progress of iRadio OUM over the years, the evolution of technology used and its overall significance to OUM’s continual growth and development. Design/methodology/approach - Reports the results from web analytic data from previous years in terms of listening and downloading habits and trends. Reviews of how other institutions and/or organisations use podcasting or audio learning material in the teaching and learning process are also included. Findings - Outlines the progress of iRadio OUM through the years in terms of content development, listening and downloading trends as well as research and development carried out. This paper summarises the changes in how segments are structured, produced and delivered. It also outlines the evolution of the technology used, mainly in terms of how content is delivered to the audience. Research limitations/implications - The scope of the paper is such that it only highlights the experiences of iRadio OUM alone. Practical implications - Offers practical advice in terms of the planning, development and implementation of an educational internet radio for higher learning institutions. Originality/value - This paper is written by key team members of iRadio OUM itself and highlights the experiences and ultimately the best practices discovered by actual web-broadcast practitioners and audio learning materials instructional designers.

In this paper we present an automatic speaker recognition technique with the use of the Internet radio lossy (encoded) speech signal streams. We show an influence of the audio encoder (e.g., bitrate) on the speaker model quality. The model of each speaker was calculated with the use of the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) approach. Both the speaker recognition and the further analysis were realized with the use of short utterances to facilitate real time processing. The neighborhoods of the speaker models were analyzed with the use of the ISOMAP algorithm. The experiments were based on four 1-hour public debates with 7–8 speakers (including the moderator), acquired from the Polish radio Internet services. The presented software was developed with the MATLAB environment.

The presence of nationalism in the Catholic Church, ostensibly global in its mission and outlook, has been a contentious issue especially in the post-communist countries of East-Central Europe. Events like the Slovak national pilgrimage to Šaštín, broadcast across the country on television, radio and internet, offer Catholic elite in Slovakia a rare chance to freely weave national history and national devotion into religious practice and discourse, but what does elite discourse actually tell us about the production and reproduction of nationhood in the Church? This article calls for increased exploration of reception of elite discourse in the media, not only to gauge audience reaction, but to better understand how the would-be recipients of these messages play a role in producing, reproducing or contesting these media constructions of national identity. The share of FDI in comparison to GDP shows that Slovenia is receiving less FDI than all the Visegrád countries. We argue that the most important roots of this phenomenon are to be found in the year 1992, the first normal year after 1991 when Slovenia gained its independence. In 1992 the political discussions concerning which methods of privatization to choose were at their most fervent and the media were playing an important role in creating public opinion concerning participation of potential foreign investors in the privatization process. The media landscape in Slovenia has been, for the last three decades, a typical transitional one, with a strong role of public TV, a growing share of commercial TV, the declining role of print, underdeveloped internet and local radio. Being a tiny media market with a highly competitive environment, profit-making media companies are struggling with small ad budgets, especially those from state-owned companies, which have been for decades the largest local advertisers. The owners of private and state-owned media have been therefore highly connected to the political elite since the independence of Slovenia. We first try to explain the lesser importance of FDI in Slovenia with existing research concerning the role of institutions, especially public opinion as an important informal institution. In the second part, we present the analysis of selected press articles for the year 1992. We offer conclusions concerning public opinion in Slovenia in 1992 and its influence on existing and potential foreign investors in subsequent years. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pirate radio still flourishes in dense, multiethnic cities such as Brooklyn, New York, despite the rise of Web radio. For immigrants in particular, radio sounds mark identity and community and (re)claim social spaces of work, commutes, and the home. It is not only lack of access to digital technologies or broadband that shapes radio's relevance, but also marginalized communities' specific needs, histories, and values. Paying more attention to embodied social engagement with ethnic pirate radio illuminates key dynamics in how and when communities adapt or adopt new technology or integrate it into "old" technology. The power to make culture more autonomously is important for communities that exist in a hostile cultural environment that seeks to limit or shape their presence. Radio centers specific values unaccounted for in dominant discussions of radio: collective intimacy and synchronous listening, which help to produce that cultural autonomy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Religious topics are increasingly addressed in journalism worldwide, including newspapers, television, radio and Internet news. The high visibility of religion in society and, inseparably connected to this, the increasing reappearance of religious themes in news media have come to the attention of recent academic research as well. This special issue offers new research material on the topic but also a new design and system of organizing the field. The novel approach of this special issue is threefold: (1) it focuses specifically and only on journalistic media; (2) it discusses a variety of religious and geographical contexts through case studies; and (3) it introduces a new structure of discussing journalism and religion by analyzing the three key concepts "sacred", "secular" and "authority" through the lens of Laclau's (1996, pp. 36) approach to terms as empty signifiers. Internet radio stations that broadcast exclusively on the Internet are a growing phenomenon in Israel, providing a stage for new and diverse voices in Israeli society. This article charts the activity of Internet radio stations in Israel and evaluates their social contributions by focusing primarily on music selection, broadcast content, and target audiences. It shows that the establishment of Internet radio stations is connected to progressive trends in Israeli society. New and varied voices, not necessarily heard before in traditional media and especially traditional radio, have been given a platform for the first time. This makes Internet radio an important expression of social pluralism in communications media, which is essential and necessary for the healthy maintenance of a democratic society with so many internal divisions.
