Abstract

AIN thin films were prepared by dynamic mixing under various nitrogen ion doses. The maximum hardness among AIN thin films appears at a nitrogen ion dose of 9 × 10 17 ions/cm 2 (aluminum evaporation rate 10 A/s). Over this value, the nitrogen content in AIN thin film is saturated and keeps a constant value, and the hardness of AlN thin film is reduced. Also abrasion and erosion tests were carried out. Characteristics of AlN prepared by nitrogen ion implantation into aluminum are shown in comparison to characteristics of AIN thin films prepared by dynamic mixing.

203. Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba dispar infections in cynomolgus monkeys imported into Japan for research.

Abstract

Three hundred and three stool samples of cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) imported from China and the Philippines were examined for Entamoeba histolytica/Entamoeba dispar infections. Microscopy detected E. histolytica/E. dispar cysts in 41 samples. Positive rates were higher in the monkeys from China (37.5%) than in the monkeys from the Philippines (3.7%). PCR analysis of 25 samples successfully cultured from the cysts demonstrated that 24 were E. dispar, one of the samples from China was E. histolytica. The one sample was also identified as E. histolytica by an antigen detection kit, although the monkey was asymptomatic and serology was negative. To our knowledge, this is the first report of E. histolytica isolation from cynomolgus monkeys based on the discrimination between E. histolytica and E. dispar. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

イオンビームミキシング装置を用い, ダイナミックミキシング及びスタティックミキシングにより, SUS304の表面にTiN薄膜を生成した結果, 硬さ及び耐摩耗特性は向上することがわかった.特に, ダイナミックミキシングによって硬さは母材の約7倍にもなった.またダイナミックミキシソグにより, SUS304の表面に均一なTiN膜が生成でき, 短時間の処理によってその表面改質ができることがわかった.今後は, 蒸着速度やイオンの加速電圧, 注入量等を変化させ, さらに試料母材やイオンの種類を変えて他の方法との比較をする予定である.

Abstract

Campylobacter jejuniによる下痢症の集団発生に際して,感染経路や感染源を追求したり,本菌の生態学的研究の応用を目的とし,本菌の血清学的群別法を開発した。ヒト下痢症由来のC. jejuni 6株の121C 2時間加熱菌およびホルマリン処理菌,それぞれに対応する抗血清を用いて抗原解析を行つた結果,耐熱性と,易熱性と少なくとも2種の抗原が存在することを明らかにした。前者には菌株間の明瞭な特異性は認められなかつた。後者は100C 1時間の加熱で完全には抗原性が失われない比較的易熱性の抗原であるが,異なつた由来の菌株間に特異性が認められた。そこでホルマリン処理菌で作製した抗血清とホルマリン処理菌とのスライド凝集反応による群別法の開発を試み,現在までに少なくとも33種類に群別できることを明らかにした。その33種の血清群にTCK1からTCK33までの番号を与えた。TCK1∼33の抗血清を用いて各種由来株を群別した結果,集団発生例,国内散発下痢症例および海外旅行者下痢症例などヒト由来の2,305株中1,768株(77%)が群別された。また,家畜・家禽,ペット,野鳥および食肉など動物由来では767株中455株(59%)がTCK1∼33のいずれかの群別用血清と反応し群別された。前者では6.3%,後者では3.7%の菌が2種以上の群別用血清と同時に反応,同じく15%および37%はいずれの血清とも反応せず群別不能であつた。家庭内流行の一事例では患者由来株と推定原因食からの分離菌の血清群が一致した。また他の大半の流行事例でも,分離菌の血清群は均一かあるいは1種の型に集積した。

Abstract

Thermal release of oxygen from a high-T c compound, YBa2Cu3O7, and the subsequent changes of the chemical states were examined by a thermal desorption method and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The former gives a spectrum with two peaks around 480°C and 700°C. The latter suggests that the 480°C peak corresponds to oxygens in the one dimensional CuO chains in the unit cell of the lattice, and the 700°C peak to one of the oxygens above and below the central copper atom. With the release of these oxygens, the copper atoms in the compound change from a pure Cu2+ state into a Cu1+ dominant state.

212. Mechanical Properties of (Ti1-xAlx)N0.3Films Prepared by the Dynamic Ion Mixing Method

Abstract

Ti1-xAlxN films were prepared using a dynamic ion mixing apparatus with two electron beam evaporation sources. The Ti and Al contents of the films were changed by independent control of the evaporation rates of the two sources at a constant N concentration of 30 at%. The chemical shifts of the films determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were smaller than those of the standard TiN and AlN, because one N atom combined with a Ti and an Al atom. The hardness and wear resistance of the Ti1-xAlxN films were determined, and it was found that an increase in the Al content of the films resulted in a decrease in the hardness and the wear resistance. The hardness and wear resistance changed drastically with change in xfrom 0.5 to 0.64 despite no such changes of XPS and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was obvious from SEM images that the film with x=0.5 had a results of denser cross-sectional structure and a smoother surface than the film with x=0.64. From the results of mechanical tests, the optimum composition for a film having excellent mechanical properties was concluded to be (Ti0.5Al0.5)N0.3.

213. Multi-residue Determination of Polar Veterinary Drugs in Livestock and Fishery Products by Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry.

Abstract

Residues of 37 polar veterinary drugs belonging to six families (quinolones, tetracyclines, macrolides, lincosamides, sulfonamides, and others) in livestock and fishery products were determined using a validated LC-MS/MS method. There were two key points in sample preparation. First, extraction was performed with two solutions of different polarity. Highly polar compounds were initially extracted with Na2EDTA-McIlvaine's buffer (pH 7.0). Medium polar compounds were then extracted from the same samples with acetonitrile containing 0.1% formic acid. Secondly, cleanup was performed using a single SPE polymer cartridge. The first extracted solution was applied to the cartridge. Highly polar compounds were retained on the cartridge. Then, the second extracted solution was applied to the same cartridge. Both highly and medium polar compounds were eluted from the cartridge. This method satisfied the guideline criteria for 37 out of 37 drugs in swine muscle, chicken muscle, bovine muscle, prawn, salmon trout, red sea bream, milk, and honey; 35 out of 37 in egg; and 34 out of 37 in flounder.
