The illustrations document historic buildings in five Indiana counties along the Ohio River. Seen here is Kiser's rendering of the Colonial Inn, at the northeast corner of Second and Elm Streets in Madison, Indiana. Banker J. F. D. Lanier supposedly lived here while his nearby estate was being built.

The Classical Revival style courthouse was built between 1854 and 1855. It served as the county courthouse, jail, and sheriff's residence.

Built in 1833 as the LeClerc House, the building burned in 1943 and was rebuilt in 1947. It is now considered one of the oldest inns in operation in Indiana.

United States Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant Malloy had 10 years civilian experience working in a Minneapolis pharmacy and now does the same work at an overseas depot for the Army Air Forces.
