Therefore, the development of treatments that can induce ICD to destroy tumour cells most effectively is promising. Previously, a new type of pH-sensitive polymersome was designed for the treatment of glioblastoma which represents a promising nanoplatform for future translational research in glioblastoma therapy. In this study, the aim of this work was to analyse whether chemoradiotherapy of the novel pH-sensitive cargo-loaded polymersomes can induce ICD.Methods: Cell death in U87-MG and G422 cells was induced by Au-DOX@PO-ANG, and cell death was analysed by CCK-8 and flow cytometry. The release of CRT was determined by using laser scanning confocal microscopy and flow cytometry. ELISA kits were used to detect the release of HMGB1 and ATP. The dying cancer cells treated with different treatments were cocultured with bone-marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs), and then flow cytometry was used to determine the maturation rate of BMDCs (CD11c+CD86+CD80+) to analyse the in vitro immunogenicity. Tumour vaccination experiments were used to evaluate the ability of Au-DOX@PO-ANG to induce ICD in vivo.Results: We determined the optimal treatment strategy to evaluate the ability of chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy to induce ICD and dying cancer cells induced by Au-DOX@PO-ANG+RT could induce calreticulin eversion to the cell membrane, promote the release of HMGB1 and ATP, and induce the maturation of BMDCs. Using dying cancer cells induced by Au-DOX@PO-ANG+RT, we demonstrate the efficient vaccination potential of ICD in vivo.Conclusion: These results identify Au-DOX@PO-ANG as a novel immunogenic cell death inducer in vitro and in vivo that could be effectively combined with RT in cancer therapy.Keywords: immunogenic cell death, ICD, glioblastoma, radiotherapy, polymersomes, nanodrug delivery system

At present, there is little experience in the treatment of this infection and limited effective treatment options, like tigecycline or polymyxin B. Therefore, this report aims to describe the efficacy of tigecycline combined with polymyxin B by intrathecal (ITH) injection in the treatment of XDR intracranial infection with A. baumannii.Methods: We report a case of intracranial infection with XDR A. baumannii after ventricular drainage, treated by daily ITH and intravenous (IV) tigecycline, combined with polymyxin B ITH route. Moreover, tigecycline and polymyxin B treatments for XDR intracranial infection with A. baumannii that were reported in the literature were also reviewed and summarized.Results: The white blood cells (WBCs) of the patient’s cerebrospinal fluid dropped to normal, and the symptoms of intracranial infection disappeared. The patient finally obtained good clinical results and transferred to the local hospital.Conclusion: The polymyxin B ITH route is an ideal treatment strategy for XDR A. baumannii. The IV plus ITH tigecycline may be an effective treatment option. Numerous patients cancelled their review appointment or even lost connection with doctors because of the great pressure medical system undergoing, strict travel restrictions, and the worries about COVID-19 infection risk. Herein, we introduce two kidney transplant recipients, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, who did not take the immunosuppressant drugs and did not go back to the hospital to do the renal function examination as the doctor’s request. When they paid their first return visit several months after the pandemic outbreak, they were both diagnosed with acute rejection and admitted to the hospital. After receiving pulse steroid therapy, they were in remission but failed to reverse the rejection. The level of serum creatinine did not recover to the one before pandemic outbreak. These cases suggest that it is necessary to ensure that kidney transplant recipients follow the doctor’s advice to take drugs and follow-up regularly to examine their renal function over pandemic period. Additionally, typical pulse steroid therapy may not that effective toward these patients.Keywords: acute rejection, kidney transplantation, health management, COVID-19, compliance

Background: Early childhood education (ECE) is crucial in cultivating creativity, especially in today's tech-savvy world. This study explores the impact of collaborative project-based learning (PjBL) with computer and play motivation on kindergarten children's creativity. Aim: Our research aimed to determine if collaborative PjBL, combined with computer-based activities, enhances creativity compared to independent PjBL. We also examined the influence of play motivation on computer-based creativity. Setting: The study was conducted in Makassar Lotus Kindergarten, Indonesia, involving 30 Grade B kindergarten students. Methods: We employed a post-test control group design and systematically selected two matched classes. The experimental group engaged in collaborative PjBL, focussing on computer activities to foster creativity, while the control group experienced independent PjBL. Creativity assessment encompassed originality, art, fluency, flexibility, self-actualisation, and creative skills. Results: Collaborative PjBL had a more significant impact on children's computer-based creativity than independent PjBL. Children with high play motivation also exhibited higher creativity levels during computer-based activities. Conclusion: This study underscores the potential of collaborative PjBL in promoting creativity among kindergarten children in the digital era. It highlights the significance of innovative teaching methods and children's intrinsic motivation in nurturing creativity. Contribution: These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on effective ECE strategies that harness technology to foster creativity.

This phenomenological qualitative study used Rowe, Bennett, and Atkinson's (1994) White Racial Consciousness Model to conceptualize racial awareness among White undergraduate female preservice teachers. Findings indicate that White preservice teachers recognized their White racial identity but lacked an understanding about their positionality within systems of whiteness. They use colorblind perspectives when discussing issues of race and racism in support of an enlightenment narrative. Participants sought diversity competencies in their student teaching experiences because they suggested their teacher preparation programs and precollege experiences limited their exposure to diverse identities and settings. They held deficit perspectives about Students of Color and struggled communicating with parents. Implications for practice are included related to improvements within teacher preparation curriculum and undergraduate student development.

In the 21st century, Indonesian education must generate life skills for dealing with the era of society 5.0. Bioentrepreneurship skills are one of those needed to achieve the primary goal of society 5.0. However, teaching modules that combine entrepreneurship skills still need to be improved. This research aims to produce project-based learning teaching modules on plant growth and development material to train valid and practical society 5.0 (bioentrepreneurship) era skills. This research used a 4D. The teaching module's validity was determined by the validation results of three experienced lecturers. The practicality of the teaching module was measured based on the results of the readability test. The results of the teaching module validity test obtained an average score of 3.8, which is very valid. The results of the practicality test are reviewed from the textbook readability test, which is categorized as level 12 with a practical category. The results showed that project-based learning teaching modules on plant growth and development material are valid and practical to train the skills of the era of society 5.0 (bioentrepreneurship). Society era 5.0 (bioentrepreneurship) skills students can be trained by integrating plant growth and development biology material with microgreens cultivation project activities in project-based learning modules.

The COVID-19 virus pandemic has caused all governments to implement distance learning by utilizing information technology, including in academic advising. Studies conducted during the pandemic have shown changes in higher education institutions and students. This study aimed to find out and analyse the level of students' satisfaction with academic advising during the COVID-19 pandemic at public and private universities using five satisfaction indicators, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The survey was conducted online, involving 1158 students from a total of 6 public and private universities in the city of Banjarmasin, Kalimantan Island, Indonesia. The data findings showed that in relation to the academic advising given during the COVID-19 pandemic, the students' satisfaction levels toward the provision of academic advising at both public and private universities during the COVID-19 pandemic were in the same category, which was "very satisfied". Thus, students' satisfaction levels toward academic advising at the university in Banjarmasin were very high, the demographic characteristics of the students, academic advisors, frequency of academic advising meetings and method of the academic advising meetings explained the significant differences in the students' satisfaction levels toward academic advising during COVID-19.

As the world is evolving, higher education is too. This includes online service-learning which in the past has been predominantly delivered in formats off-line or hybrid. This article describes some best practices to make the online service-learning experience beneficial for all who are involved and accessible to more students, including students who previously did not have access to service-learning courses due to the nature of the delivery and/or format of the course. Best practices to overcome some of the limitations that online courses present include high levels of instructor/facilitator involvement, creative collaborations, communication, and using different course material delivery methods. Although teaching online takes time, training, and practice, it is an investment to larger gains in student access and to keep up with trends and demands in the real world.

Artificial intelligence in education (AIEd) is a fast-growing field of research. In previous work, we described efforts to explore the possible futures of AIEd by identifying key variables and their future prospects. This paper re-examines our discussions on the governance of data and the role of students and teachers by considering the implications of (1) a recent case related to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and (2) the release of ChatGPT, a generative AI model capable to producing 'human-like' text. These events raise questions for the future of AIEd and the underlying function of assessment, and highlight the importance of active student participation in the integration of AI in education. This qualitative, multicase study examined the perceived effect on teachers of an online professional development (PD) program supported by facilitators who provided extensive feedback to them. Our goal was to identify the barriers to teachers implementing their learning in their diverse contexts. Using inductive and deductive thematic analysis and cross-case analysis of interviews and reflections, we found that positive results are much more likely if the design of PD is contextual and facilitation is in place. However, for this external PD to be effective, barriers to implementation, such as administration or support, school policies, and context need to be considered. The nature of PD does not guarantee the implementation of what was learned in the classroom. Suggestions for improvements in terms of PD design and barriers are also discussed.

Students believe mathematics is best learned by memorization; however, endorsing memorization as a study strategy is associated with a decrease in learning (Schoenfeld, 1989). When the world changed with the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, instruction transitioned to fully remote instruction where many assignments and examinations became open textbook, open note, and even open Internet. In this new world, did students change their beliefs about the role of memorization in learning? Did academic performance change? And did the relationship between memorization beliefs and academic performance change? The current study takes advantage of data collected in an online interactive statistics textbook used by courses before (in-person) and after (remote) the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic at three institutions, each representing a part of the California Master Plan for Higher Education (e.g., University of California, California State University, and California Community Colleges). Results from 2668 students who used the textbook showed that the UC institution had lower memorization belief scores compared to both the CSU and CCC institutions. Even when controlling for institution and chapter of the textbook, lower memorization belief scores were related to higher performance. Surprisingly, there were no significant differences in either memorization beliefs nor performance before and after transitioning to online remote instruction due to the pandemic. Although much of educational research is conducted in one institution, this kind of research can identify differences across institutional contexts to understand how learning can be affected by different teaching formats, including in-person and online/distance, brought on by disruptive social changes such as a global pandemic.

The present study was undertaken to obtain a clearer picture of teachers' online instructional delivery and identify difficulties that might require intervention. Specifically, the following research questions are addressed: (1) What are teachers' practices to promote learning in a fully online learning space? (2) What challenges do teachers experience during the fully online learning sessions? This study involved interviews with 17 teachers from nine higher education institutions in the Philippines, a developing country. Using a descriptive case approach, results indicated that teachers promoted flexibility and interaction, facilitated learning processes, and fostered an affective learning climate as much as they could. While most teachers practice flexibility, the data also showed some rigidity in their practices. Findings also suggested the critical role of technology in facilitating learning processes and stimulating class interactions. However, these teachers faced several challenges related to technological sufficiency, learnerrelated factors, teaching delivery and assessment, technological complexity, and self-regulation, among others. Their varying experiences were linked to unique contexts brought about by several factors, namely available tools, institutional policies, pedagogical goals, and learnerrelated factors. Implications for classroom practices, policy making, teacher training, and future research are discussed.

Students are required to have the ability to implement mathematics in solving everyday life problems. A good solving process will produce an excellent solving ability. The existing problem-solving stages cannot be used in solving problems with the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) category. The aims of this research are 1) to know students' problem-solving process in solving HOTS category questions; 2) to design the stages of problem-solving that can be used to solve HOTS category questions. Twenty-four students who took the differential calculus course in mathematics education at one of Indonesia's private universities made up the study group. The solving process is divided into high, medium, and low. The descriptive and qualitative research method describes the Polya stages' problem-solving approach. Researchers used four sets of problem-solving by making nine indicators. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that several indicators of the problem-solving stages have not been appropriately implemented, including I4, I8, and I9. In addition, the steps at the Polya problem-solving stage of devising a plan and looking back must be improved. Based on the findings above, research recommendations design the stages of problem-solving consisting of 6 steps. Future research will develop steps of problem-solving with the characteristics of the HOTS category questions.

The models of E-learning Readiness (ELR) are basically designed to understand the process of obtaining the basic information necessary for measuring ELR among participants. They help organizations to identify the requirements for designing, developing and implementing E-learning. These models not only help the organizations to identify the degree of ELR but also to identify the factors or areas where the organization is weak. The present study reviews the models of E-learning Readiness (ELR) with the help of a small-scale literature review on Models of ELR. The purpose of the current study was to make an analysis of the existing ELR models in the literature. The researcher visited various online databases to collect studies. In addition to that, the researcher also did a manual search in the reference list of various studies in the related field for the addition of additional studies. By following an appropriate strategy, the researchers selected 07 ELR models for the current study. The current study reveals that Technology, Skills, Attitude, resources and human resources, Infrastructure, Flexibility, Support, Pedagogy, Management, Evaluation, Continual Improvement, Culture, Budgeting, Curriculum, Awareness, Law and Regulation, Content and Policy have been used on a larger scale for the development of the ELR models. Further, majority of reviewed studies have used various statistical techniques like regression analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) for developing the models.

The implementation of a research-based curriculum that enables students to develop essential capabilities for this complex world is challenging. There is limited understanding of the implementation of a research-based curriculum in a whole degree programme, and few studies examined how faculty members and students perceived such a curriculum. This study explored faculty members' perceptions and students' experiences of four research-based curricula in two research-intensive universities in Hong Kong. Based on document review, 18 faculty interviews, and 113 student interviews, we discovered an overall positive view of research-based curricula but also substantial differences between faculty members' perceptions and students' experiences. For example, faculty members emphasised the learning and critical evaluation of knowledge. In comparison, students focused on exploring specific interesting issues and collecting and analysing information without fully recognising the potential of research in generating, applying, and validating knowledge. Moreover, students' experiences of research-based curricula contained a broader scope of activities than the curriculum perceived by faculty members. These gaps demonstrate that the fundamental goals of research-based curricula to develop 'powerful knowledge' and induct students into disciplinary ways of thinking have yet to be fully achieved. The study implies a need to enhance communication between students and faculty members and build a consensus on designing and supporting undergraduate research across the curriculum.

The Caregiver Strain Questionnaire assesses the three dimensions of caregiver strain, namely the objective, subjective externalized and subjective internalized strain. It was validated among caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the United States and Mainland China with promising psychometric properties. This study aimed to develop and validate the Chinese (traditional script) version of the Caregiver Strain Questionnaire (C-CGSQ) among 198 caregivers of children with ASD in Hong Kong. The C-CGSQ showed excellent internal consistency ([alpha] = 0.958) and test-retest reliability (Spearman's r = 0.966). Concurrent, convergent, divergent validity and a three-factor structure (consistent with previous studies) were established. The C-CGSQ demonstrated promising psychometric properties in measuring caregiver strain among caregivers of Chinese ASD children in Hong Kong.

The present study aimed to investigate the adherence to NSBBs to prevent variceal bleeding in cirrhotic patients.Methods: All patients who had an indication of NSBBs for the prophylaxis of variceal bleeding between February 2018 and June 2019 were screened. Clinical pharmacists gave pre-medication education and recorded the adherence to NSBBs during the patients’ hospitalizations. Factors associated with poor adherence were evaluated by univariate logistic regression analysis. Odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated. The relationship between poor adherence during follow-up and variceal bleeding after discharge was also evaluated.Results: Overall, 108 patients were screened, of whom 12 were intolerant to NSBBs. Among the 96 remaining patients who could take NSBBs, the average change of heart rate after NSBBs was − 10.49 b.p.m. Twenty-two (22.9%) patients had poor adherence to NSBBs due to their refusal to take NSBBs (n = 2), complete forgetfulness to take NSBBs (n = 10), and refusal or forgetfulness to monitor heart rate (n = 10). Univariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that only older age was significantly associated with poor adherence (OR: 1.065, 95% CI: 1.019– 1.114, P = 0.005). Patients with poor adherence during follow-up were more likely to develop variceal bleeding after discharge.Conclusion: A significant proportion of cirrhotic patients had poor adherence to NSBBs during their hospitalizations. This Letter presents the first study of the energy dependence of diboson polarization fractions in WZ→ℓνℓ′ℓ′(ℓ,ℓ′=e,μ) production. The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector. Two fiducial regions with an enhanced presence of events featuring two longitudinally polarized bosons are defined. A nonzero fraction of events with two longitudinally polarized bosons is measured with an observed significance of 5.3 standard deviations in the region with 100200  GeV, where pTZ is the transverse momentum of the Z boson. This Letter also reports the first study of the radiation-amplitude-zero effect. Events with two transversely polarized bosons are analyzed for the ΔY(ℓWZ) and ΔY(WZ) distributions defined respectively as the rapidity difference between the lepton from the W boson decay and the Z boson and the rapidity difference between the W boson and the Z boson. Significant suppression of events near zero is observed in both distributions. Unfolded ΔY(ℓWZ) and ΔY(WZ) distributions are also measured and compared to theoretical predictions. © 2024 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration 2024 CERN

A search for heavy Majorana neutrinos in scattering of same-sign W boson pairs in proton–proton collisions at s=13 TeV at the LHC is reported. The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb−1, collected with the ATLAS detector during 2015–2018. The search is performed in final states including a same-sign ee or eμ pair and at least two jets with large invariant mass and a large rapidity difference. No significant excess of events with respect to the Standard Model background predictions is observed. The results are interpreted in a benchmark scenario of the Phenomenological Type-I Seesaw model. New constraints are set on the values of the |VeN|2 and |VeNVμN⁎| parameters for heavy Majorana neutrino masses between 50 GeV and 20 TeV, where VℓN is the matrix element describing the mixing of the heavy Majorana neutrino mass eigenstate with the Standard Model neutrino of flavour ℓ=e,μ. The sensitivity to the Weinberg operator is investigated and constraints on the effective ee and eμ Majorana neutrino masses are reported. The statistical combination of the ee and eμ channels with the previously published μμ channel is performed.

Several processes studied by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider produce low-momentum b-flavored hadrons in the final state. This paper describes the calibration of a dedicated tagging algorithm that identifies b-flavored hadrons outside of hadronic jets by reconstructing the soft secondary vertices originating from their decays. The calibration is based on a proton-proton collision dataset at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb−1. Scale factors used to correct the algorithm’s performance in simulated events are extracted for the b-tagging efficiency and the mistag rate of the algorithm using a data sample enriched in tt¯ events. Several orthogonal measurement regions are defined, binned as a function of the multiplicities of soft secondary vertices and jets containing a b-flavored hadron in the event. The mistag rate scale factors are estimated separately for events with low and high average numbers of interactions per bunch crossing. The results, which are derived from events with low missing transverse momentum, are successfully validated in a phase space characterized by high missing transverse momentum and therefore are applicable to new physics searches carried out in either phase space regime. © 2024 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration 2024 CERN

A search for the nonresonant production of Higgs boson pairs in the HH→bb¯τ+τ− channel is performed using 140  fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The analysis strategy is optimized to probe anomalous values of the Higgs boson self-coupling modifier κλ and of the quartic HHVV (V=W,Z) coupling modifier κ2V. No significant excess above the expected background from Standard Model processes is observed. An observed (expected) upper limit μHH

Abstract: The identification of top quark decays where the top quark has a large momentum transverse to the beam axis, known as top tagging, is a crucial component in many measurements of Standard Model processes and searches for beyond the Standard Model physics at the Large Hadron Collider.Machine learning techniques have improved the performance of top tagging algorithms, but the size of the systematic uncertainties for all proposed algorithms has not been systematically studied.This paper presents the performance of several machine learning based top tagging algorithms on a dataset constructed from simulated proton-proton collision events measured with the ATLAS detector at √ s = 13 TeV.The systematic uncertainties associated with these algorithms are estimated through an approximate procedure that is not meant to be used in a physics analysis, but is appropriate for the level of precision required for this study.The most performant algorithms are found to have the largest uncertainties, motivating the development of methods to reduce these uncertainties without compromising performance.To enable such efforts in the wider scientific community, the datasets used in this paper are made publicly available.

IntroductionVariants of uncertain significance (VUS) surged with affordable genetic testing, posing challenges for determining pathogenicity. We examine the pathogenicity of a novel VUS P93S in Annexin A11 (ANXA11) - an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/frontotemporal dementia-associated gene - in a corticobasal syndrome kindred. Established ANXA11 mutations cause ANXA11 aggregation, altered lysosomal-RNA granule co-trafficking, and transactive response DNA binding protein of 43 kDa (TDP-43) mis-localization.MethodsWe described the clinical presentation and explored the phenotypic diversity of ANXA11 variants. P93S's effect on ANXA11 function and TDP-43 biology was characterized in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons alongside multiomic neuronal and microglial profiling.ResultsANXA11 mutations were linked to corticobasal syndrome cases. P93S led to decreased lysosome colocalization, neuritic RNA, and nuclear TDP-43 with cryptic exon expression. Multiomic microglial signatures implicated immune dysregulation and interferon signaling pathways.DiscussionThis study establishes ANXA11 P93S pathogenicity, broadens the phenotypic spectrum of ANXA11 mutations, underscores neuronal and microglial dysfunction in ANXA11 pathophysiology, and demonstrates the potential of cellular models to determine variant pathogenicity.HighlightsANXA11 P93S is a pathogenic variant. Corticobasal syndrome is part of the ANXA11 phenotypic spectrum. Hybridization chain reaction fluorescence in situ hybridization (HCR FISH) is a new tool for the detection of cryptic exons due to TDP-43-related loss of splicing regulation. Microglial ANXA11 and related immune pathways are important drivers of disease. Cellular models are powerful tools for adjudicating variants of uncertain significance.

The summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 2,717 new measurements from 869 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as supersymmetric particles, heavy bosons, axions, dark photons, etc. Particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Higgs Boson Physics, Supersymmetry, Grand Unified Theories, Neutrino Mixing, Dark Energy, Dark Matter, Cosmology, Particle Detectors, Colliders, Probability and Statistics. Most of the 120 reviews are updated, including many that are heavily revised. The is divided into two volumes. Volume 1 includes the Summary Tables and 97 review articles. Volume 2 consists of the Particle Listings and contains also 23 reviews that address specific aspects of the data presented in the Listings. A search for leptoquark pair production decaying into te-t¯e+ or tμ-t¯μ+ in final states with multiple leptons is presented. The search is based on a dataset of pp collisions at s=13TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb-1. Four signal regions, with the requirement of at least three light leptons (electron or muon) and at least two jets out of which at least one jet is identified as coming from a b-hadron, are considered based on the number of leptons of a given flavour. The main background processes are estimated using dedicated control regions in a simultaneous fit with the signal regions to data. No excess above the Standard Model background prediction is observed and 95% confidence level limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are derived as a function of the leptoquark mass. Under the assumption of exclusive decays into te- (tμ-), the corresponding lower limit on the scalar mixed-generation leptoquark mass mLQmixd is at 1.58 (1.59) TeV and on the vector leptoquark mass mU~1 at 1.67 (1.67) TeV in the minimal coupling scenario and at 1.95 (1.95) TeV in the Yang–Mills scenario.

A search is performed for localized excesses in the low-mass dijet invariant mass distribution, targeting a hypothetical new particle decaying into two jets and produced in association with either a high transverse momentum photon or a jet. The search uses the full Run 2 data sample from LHC proton-proton collisions collected by the ATLAS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during 2015–2018. Two variants of the search are presented for each type of initial-state radiation: one that makes no jet flavor requirements and one that requires both of the jets to have been identified as containing b-hadrons. No excess is observed relative to the Standard Model prediction, and the data are used to set upper limits on the production cross section for a benchmark Z′ model and, separately, for generic, beyond the Standard Model scenarios which might produce a Gaussian-shaped contribution to dijet invariant mass distributions. Particle dark matter could belong to a multiplet that includes an electrically charged state. WIMP dark matter (χ0) accompanied by a negatively charged excited state (χ−) with a small mass difference (e.g. < 20 MeV) can form a bound-state with a nucleus such as xenon. This bound-state formation is rare and the released energy is O(1−10) MeV depending on the nucleus, making large liquid scintillator detectors suitable for detection. We searched for bound-state formation events with xenon in two experimental phases of the KamLAND-Zen experiment, a xenon-doped liquid scintillator detector. No statistically significant events were observed. For a benchmark parameter set of WIMP mass mχ0=1 TeV and mass difference Δm=17 MeV, we set the most stringent upper limits on the recombination cross section times velocity 〈σv〉 and the decay-width of χ− to 9.2×10−30 cm3/s and 8.7×10−14 GeV, respectively at 90% confidence level.

A measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or Z boson and decaying into a pair of τ-leptons is presented. This search is based on proton-proton collision data collected at s=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb−1. For the Higgs boson candidate, only final states with at least one τ-lepton decaying hadronically (τ→hadrons+ντ) are considered. For the vector bosons, only leptonic decay channels are considered: Z→ℓℓ and W→ℓνℓ, with ℓ=e,μ. An excess of events over the expected background is found with an observed (expected) significance of 4.2 (3.6) standard deviations, providing evidence of the Higgs boson produced in association with a vector boson and decaying into a pair of τ-leptons. The ratio of the measured cross-section to the Standard Model prediction is μVHττ=1.28−0.29+0.30(stat.)−0.21+0.25(syst.). This result represents the most accurate measurement of the VH(ττ) process achieved to date.

This paper reports cross-section measurements of ZZ production in pp collisions at s=13.6TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The data were collected by the ATLAS detector in 2022, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 29 fb−1. Events in the ZZ→4ℓ (ℓ=e, μ) final states are selected and used to measure the inclusive and differential cross-sections in a fiducial region defined close to the analysis selections. The inclusive cross-section is further extrapolated to the total phase space with a requirement of 66

Searches for exclusive decays of the Higgs boson into D⁎γ and of the Z boson into D0γ and Ks0γ can probe flavour-violating Higgs boson and Z boson couplings to light quarks. Searches for these decays are performed with a pp collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 136.3 fb−1 collected at s=13TeV between 2016–2018 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. In the D⁎γ and D0γ channels, the observed (expected) 95% confidence-level upper limits on the respective branching fractions are B(H→D⁎γ)

Abstract: A search is presented for flavour-changing neutral-current interactions involving the top quark, the Higgs boson and an up-type quark ($$q=u,c$$ q = u , c ) with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis considers leptonic decays of the top quark along with Higgs boson decays into two $$W$$ W bosons, two $$Z$$ Z bosons or a $$\tau ^{+}\tau ^{-}$$ τ + τ - pair. It focuses on final states containing either two leptons (electrons or muons) of the same charge or three leptons. The considered processes are $$t\bar{t}$$ t t ¯ and Ht production. For the $$t\bar{t}$$ t t ¯ production, one top quark decays via $$t\rightarrow Hq$$ t → H q . The proton–proton collision data set analysed amounts to $$({140}\,{\hbox {fb}^{-1}})$$ ( 140 fb - 1 ) at $$(\sqrt{s}={13}\,\hbox {TeV})$$ ( s = 13 TeV ) . No significant excess beyond Standard Model expectations is observed and upper limits are set on the $$t\rightarrow Hq$$ t → H q branching ratios at 95 % confidence level, amounting to observed (expected) limits of $$\mathcal {B}(t\rightarrow Hu)

Abstract: Presented is the search for anomalous Higgs boson decays into two axion-like particles (ALPs) using the full Run 2 data set of $$140\,\text {fb}^{-1}$$ 140 fb - 1 of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $$13\,\text {TeV}$$ 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment. The ALPs are assumed to decay into two photons, providing sensitivity to recently proposed models that could explain the $$(g-2)_\mu $$ ( g - 2 ) μ discrepancy. This analysis covers an ALP mass range from 100 to $$62\,\text {GeV}$$ 62 GeV and ALP-photon couplings in the range $$10^{-7}\,\text {TeV}^{-1} 10 - 7 TeV - 1 < C a γ γ / Λ < 1 TeV - 1 , and therefore includes signatures with significantly displaced vertices and highly collinear photons. No significant excess of events above the Standard Model background is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are placed on the branching ratio of the Higgs boson to two ALPs in the four-photon final state, and are in the range of $$ 10^{-5}$$ 10 - 5 to $$3\times 10^{-2}$$ 3 × 10 - 2 , depending on the hypothesized ALP mass and ALP-photon coupling strength.

A search for charged-lepton-flavor violating μτqt (q=u, c) interactions is presented, considering both top-quark production and decay. The data analyzed correspond to 140  fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13  TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis targets events containing two muons with the same electric charge, a hadronically decaying τ-lepton and at least one jet, with exactly one b-tagged jet, produced by a μτqt interaction. Agreement with the Standard Model expectation within 1.6 standard deviations is observed, and limits are set at the 95% confidence level (CL) on the charged-lepton-flavor violation branching ratio of B(t→μτq)

Abstract: A search is reported for long-lived dark photons with masses between 0.1 GeV and 15 GeV, from exotic decays of Higgs bosons produced via vector-boson-fusion. Events that contain displaced collimated Standard Model fermions reconstructed in the calorimeter or muon spectrometer are probed. This search uses the full LHC Run 2 (2015–2018) data sample collected in proton–proton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=13$$ s = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 $$fb^{-1}$$ f b - 1 . Dominant backgrounds from Standard Model processes and non-collision sources are estimated using data-driven techniques. The observed event yields in the signal regions are consistent with the expected background. Upper limits on the Higgs boson to dark photon branching fraction are reported as a function of the dark photon mean proper decay length or of the dark photon mass and the coupling between the Standard Model and the potential dark sector. This search is combined with previous ATLAS searches obtained in the gluon–gluon fusion and WH production modes. A branching fraction above 10% is excluded at 95% CL for a 125 GeV Higgs boson decaying into two dark photons for dark photon mean proper decay lengths between 173 and 1296 mm and mass of 10 GeV.

Statistical combinations of searches for charginos and neutralinos using various decay channels are performed using 139  fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Searches targeting pure-wino chargino pair production, pure-wino chargino-neutralino production, or Higgsino production decaying via standard model W, Z, or h bosons are combined to extend the mass reach to the produced supersymmetric particles by 30-100 GeV. The depth of the sensitivity of the original searches is also improved by the combinations, lowering the 95% C.L. cross-section upper limits by 15%-40%.

Results from a wide range of searches targeting different experimental signatures with and without missing transverse momentum (ETmiss) are used to constrain a Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) with an additional pseudo-scalar mediating the interaction between ordinary and dark matter (2HDM+a). The analyses use up to 139 fb-1 of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy s=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider during 2015-2018. The results from three of the most sensitive searches are combined statistically. These searches target signatures with large ETmiss and a leptonically decaying Z boson; large ETmiss and a Higgs boson decaying to bottom quarks; and production of charged Higgs bosons in final states with top and bottom quarks, respectively. Constraints are derived for several common and new benchmark scenarios in the 2HDM+a.

Fiducial and total W± and Z boson cross sections, their ratios and the ratio of top-antitop-quark pair and W-boson fiducial cross sections are measured in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13.6 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 29 fb−1 of data collected in 2022 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The measured fiducial cross-section values for W+→ℓ+ν, W−→ℓ−ν¯, and Z→ℓ+ℓ− (ℓ=e or μ) boson productions are 4250±150 pb, 3310±120 pb, and 744±20 pb, respectively, where the uncertainty is the total uncertainty, including that arising from the luminosity of about 2.2%. The measurements are in agreement with Standard-Model predictions calculated at next-to-next-to-leading-order in αs, next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy and next-to-leading-order electroweak accuracy.

A search is presented for the pair-production of heavy vector-like quarks in the lepton+jets final state using 140 fb−1 of proton–proton collisions at s=13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector. The search is optimised for vector-like top-quarks (T) that decay into a W boson and a b-quark, with one W boson decaying leptonically and the other hadronically. Other vector-like quark flavours and decay modes are also considered. Events are selected with one high transverse-momentum electron or muon, large missing transverse momentum, a large-radius jet identified as a W boson, and multiple small-radius jets, at least one of which is b-tagged. Vector-like T-quarks with 100% branching ratio to Wb are excluded at 95% CL for masses below 1700 GeV. These limits are also applied to vector-like Y-quarks, which decay exclusively into a W boson and a b-quark. Isospin singlets with B(T→Wb:Ht:Zt)=1/2:1/4:1/4 are excluded for masses below 1360 GeV.

A measurement of the invisible width of the Z boson using events with jets and missing transverse momentum is presented using 37 fb−1 of 13 TeV proton–proton data collected by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. The ratio of Z→inv to Z→ℓℓ events, where inv refers to non-detected particles and ℓ is either an electron or a muon, is measured and corrected for detector effects. Events with at least one energetic central jet with pT≥110 GeV are selected for both the Z→inv and Z→ℓℓ final states to obtain a similar phase space in the ratio. The invisible width is measured to be 506±2(stat.)±12(syst.) MeV and is the single most precise recoil-based measurement. The result is in agreement with the most precise determination from LEP and the Standard Model prediction based on three neutrino generations.

A statistical combination of various searches for pair-produced leptoquarks is presented, using the full LHC Run 2 (2015–2018) data set of 139 fb−1 collected with the ATLAS detector from proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV. All possible decays of the leptoquarks into quarks of the third generation and charged or neutral leptons of any generation are investigated. Since no significant deviations from the Standard Model expectation are observed in any of the individual analyses, combined exclusion limits are set on the production cross-sections for scalar and vector leptoquarks. The resulting lower bounds on leptoquark masses exceed those from the individual analyses by up to 100 GeV, depending on the signal hypothesis.

The observation of the electroweak production of single-top-quarks is made using 255 pb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded at s=5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. An event selection is used to identify single-top-quark candidates arising from t-channel production with the top quark decaying semi-leptonically. Events passing the selection are then used to measure the inclusive cross-section for the combined production of single-top-quarks and antiquarks, σ(tq+t¯q), and the ratio Rt between these two. They are measured to be σ(tq+t¯q)=27.1−4.1+4.4(stat.)−3.7+4.4(syst.) pb and Rt=2.73−0.82+1.43(stat.)−0.29+1.01(syst.). The individual single-top-quark (tq) and single-top-antiquark (t¯q) production cross-sections are measured to be σ(tq)=19.8−3.1+3.9(stat.)−2.2+2.9(syst.) pb and σ(t¯q)=7.3−2.1+3.2(stat.)−1.5+2.8(syst.) pb. All measurements are in good agreement with the Standard Model predictions.

This White Paper presents an overview of the current status and future perspective of QCD research, based on the community inputs and scientific conclusions from the 2022 Hot and Cold QCD Town Meeting. We present the progress made in the last decade toward a deep understanding of both the fundamental structure of the sub-atomic matter of nucleon and nucleus in cold QCD, and the hot QCD matter in heavy ion collisions. We identify key questions of QCD research and plausible paths to obtaining answers to those questions in the near future, hence defining priorities of our research over the coming decades.
