Analysis of diverse first-year and first-generation learning communities students' reflective narratives shows this population of students at an urban commuter college of technology face significant challenges in the transition into college. Designed to assist in this transition, the "Our Stories" digital writing project incorporates reflective writing in the long established, yet recently revitalized, learning communities program. Through analysis of the "Our Stories" project, we examine how the structure of our learning communities program, together with writing on an open digital platform, builds community and has the potential to positively influence students as they identify, and begin to make sense, of the social, emotional, and bureaucratic challenges in their transition into college. The role of peer mentors, faculty and administrators in this project is discussed.

Background/Objectives: Functional MRI (fMRI) is widely used to assess language lateralization, but its application in patients with brain tumors can be hindered by cognitive impairments, compensatory neuroplasticity, and artifacts due to patient movement or severe aphasia. Gray matter volume (GMV) analysis via voxel-based morphometry (VBM) in language-related brain regions may offer a stable complementary approach. This study investigates the relationship between GMV and fMRI-derived language lateralization in healthy individuals and patients with left-hemisphere brain tumors, aiming to enhance accuracy in complex cases. Methods: The MRI data from 22 healthy participants and 28 individuals with left-hemisphere brain tumors were analyzed. Structural T1-weighted and functional images were obtained during three language tasks. Language lateralization was assessed based on activation in predefined regions of interest (ROIs), categorized as typical (left) or atypical (right or bilateral). The GMV in these ROIs was measured using VBM. Linear regressions explored GMV-lateralization associations, and logistic regressions predicted the lateralization based on the GMV. Results: In the healthy participants, typical left-hemispheric language dominance correlated with higher GMV in the left pars opercularis of the inferior frontal gyrus. The brain tumor participants with atypical lateralization showed increased GMV in six right-hemisphere ROIs. The GMV in the language ROIs predicted the fMRI language lateralization, with AUCs from 80.1% to 94.2% in the healthy participants and 78.3% to 92.6% in the tumor patients. Conclusions: GMV analysis in language-related ROIs effectively complements fMRI for assessing language dominance, particularly when fMRI is challenging. It correlates with language lateralization in both healthy individuals and brain tumor patients, highlighting its potential in preoperative language mapping. Further research with larger samples is needed to refine its clinical utility.

The potential of utilizing inorganic constituents in processed animal proteins (PAPs) for species identification in animal feeds was investigated, with the aim of using these constituents to ensure the quality and authenticity of the products. This study aimed to quantify the inorganic content across various PAP species and assess whether inorganic analysis could effectively differentiate between PAP species, ultimately aiding in the identification of PAP fractions in animal feeds. Four types of PAPs, namely bovine, swine, poultry, and fish-based, were analyzed and compared to others made up of feathers of vegetal-based feed. Also, three insect-based PAPs (Cricket, Silkworm, Flour Moth) were considered in this study to evaluate the differences in terms of the nutrients present in this type of feed. Ionic chromatography (IC) was used to reveal the concentrations of NO3−, NO2, Cl−, and SO42−, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) to detect Al, Ca, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Si, Sr, Ti, and Zn. The application of multivariate chemometric techniques to the experimental results allowed us to determine the identification capability of the inorganic composition to identify correlations among the variables and to reveal similarities and differences among the different species. The results show the possibility of using this component for discriminating between different PAPS; in particular, fish PAPs are high in Cd, Sr, Na, and Mg content; swine PAPs have lower metal content due to high fat; feathers and vegetal feed have similar Al, Si, and Ni, but feathers are higher in Fe and Zn; and insect PATs have nutrient levels comparable to PAPs of other origins but are very high in Zn, Cu, and K.

Prebiotics, a subset of biostimulants, have garnered attention for their potential to enhance soil conditions and promote plant growth, offering a promising alternative to conventional agricultural inputs. This study explores how two commercial prebiotics, K1® and NUTRIGEO L® (SPK and SPN), impact soil functions compared to a control (SP). The experiment involved agricultural soil amended with organic wheat straws and cultivated with Zea mays L. Previous research demonstrated substantial effects of these prebiotics on plant biomass, soil parameters, and microbial community ten weeks after application. The present study delves deeper, focusing on soil microbial abundance, enzyme activities, and metabolic diversity. Analysis revealed that SPN notably increased the fungi-to-bacteria ratio, and both prebiotics elevated the activity of several key enzymes. SPN enhanced α-glucosidase and β-galactosidase activities, while SPK increased arylsulfatase, phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, and urease activities. Enzymatic indexes confirmed the positive impact on soil functional diversity and fertility. Additionally, prebiotic treatments showed distinct metabolic profiles, with SPK degrading eleven carbon sources more rapidly across five groups and SPN accelerating the decomposition rate of four carbon sources from three groups. These findings highlight the ability of prebiotics to shape microbial communities and enhance soil fertility by modulating their functional activity and diversity.

The Chilean constitution making-process appears to be one of the most interesting democratic exercises of recent times within the context of a connected society and the increased interest in constitutionalism as a way of shaping and countering digital colonialism and digital constitutionalism, respectively. Consequently, this paper explores how the Chilean constitution-making experience contributes to framing and re-imaging the rise of digital constitutionalism by addressing the challenges of digital colonialism within a constitutional framework. The primary goal of this article is to analyse the path and the digital regulatory provisions of the Chilean Constitutional Convention to explore how both processes seek to offer a new approach to defining digital space through a constitutional lens. The included fundamental rights and principles should at least open the debate on the urgency to rethink how we respond to digital colonialism through a constitutional approach.

Problema: La dependencia excesiva de los sistemas informáticos en la vida cotidiana de las personas hace que exista un gran potencial lesivo de criminalidad, debido a ello existe un incremento alarmante de estos delitos informáticos a nivel internacional, nacional y local, el presente trabajo se centra en presentar la realidad de los delitos informáticos en la ciudad de Puno. Objetivo: Describir la realidad sobre los delitos informáticos, así como analizar las causas y consecuencias del incremento de los delitos informáticos en la ciudad de Puno y finalmente presentar algunas medidas que puedan prevenir tales delitos. Metodología: Investigación cuantitativa, explicativa y descriptiva. Resultados: en la ciudad de Puno existe un alarmante crecimiento consecutivo de los delitos informáticos debido a varias causas como la desinformación, evolución tecnológica y falta de conciencia, pero también consideramos otra causa como la vulnerabilidad en nuestros sistemas informáticos debido a nuestra precaria seguridad informática y eso ocasiona más víctimas de este tipo de delitos sobre todo en personas entre 27 a 59 años de edad.

Abstract SAR443820 (DNL788) is a selective, orally bioavailable, brain penetrant inhibitor of receptor‐interacting serine/threonine protein kinase 1 (RIPK1). This phase I first‐in‐human healthy participant study (NCT05795907) was comprised of three parts: randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled single ascending dose (SAD; part 1a); 14‐day multiple ascending dose (MAD; part 2) parts that evaluated safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics of SAR443820; and a separate open‐label, single‐dose part 1b (PK‐cerebrospinal fluid [CSF]) to assess SAR443820 levels in CSF. SAR443820 was well‐tolerated in healthy participants, and no treatment discontinuation related to an adverse event (AE) occurred. Most common AEs were dizziness and headache. No clinically meaningful changes were noted in laboratory values, vital signs, or electrocardiogram parameters. SAR443820 had a favorable PK profile, with plasma half‐lives (geometric mean) ranged between 5.7–8.0 h and 7.2–8.9 h after single and repeated doses, respectively. There were no major deviations from dose proportionality for maximum concentration and area under the curve across SAR443820 doses. Mean CSF‐to‐unbound plasma concentration ratio ranged from 0.8 to 1.3 over time (assessed up to 10 h postdose), indicating high brain penetrance. High levels of inhibition of activated RIPK1, as measured by decrease in pS166‐RIPK1, were achieved in both SAD and MAD parts, with a maximum median inhibition from baseline close to 90% at predose (Ctrough) after multiple dosing in MAD, reflecting a marked RIPK1 target engagement at the peripheral level. These results support further development of SAR443820 in phase II trials in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (NCT05237284) and multiple sclerosis (NCT05630547).

La sepsis del recién nacido es una condición médica derivada de la invasión y proliferación de organismos patógenos en el torrente sanguíneo como bacterias, hongos o virus que aparece en los primeros 28 días de vida. De acuerdo con el mecanismo de transmisión, la sepsis neonatal se puede dividir en: sepsis de transmisión vertical, causada por gérmenes localizados en el canal genital materno y que contaminan al feto (por vía ascendente o por contacto directo con el feto) con secreciones contaminadas al pasar por el canal del parto, y la sepsis de transmisión nosocomial, producida por microorganismos adquiridos en el medio hospitalario. La etiología de la sepsis en el recién nacido por lo general es bacteriana, le siguen los hongos y los virus en menos del 1%. Se inicia terapéutica con antibióticos de amplio espectro por las complicaciones y la elevada mortalidad que provoca esta entidad. Con el resultado del hemocultivo, se modificará el tratamiento antibiótico según el antibiograma de cada paciente. Unido a la terapéutica con antibióticos, se aplican medidas de soporte: hidratación parenteral, ventilación mecánica o drogas vasoactivas según el caso. El neonato con sepsis es un paciente en estado grave o crítico y su tratamiento es complejo, cada paciente será bien evaluado y tratado enérgicamente desde las primeras horas de vida en aras de disminuir la mortalidad. The coronavirus is considered this century's most disruptive catastrophe and global concern. This disease has prompted extreme social, psychological and economic impacts affecting millions of people around the globe. COVID-19 is transmitted from one infected person's body to another through respiratory droplets. This virus proliferates when people breathe in air-contaminated space with droplets and microscopic airborne particles. This research aims to analyze automatic COVID-19 detection using machine learning techniques to build an intelligent web application. The dataset has been preprocessed by dropping null values, feature engineering, and synthetic oversampling (SMOTE) techniques. Next, we trained and evaluated different classifiers, i.e., logistic regression, random forest, decision tree, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine (SVM), ensemble models (adaptive boosting and extreme gradient boosting) and deep learning (artificial neural network, convolutional neural network and long short-term memory) techniques. Explainable AI with the LIME framework has been applied to interpret the prediction results. The hybrid CNN-LSTM algorithm with the SMOTE approach performed better than the other models on the employed open-source dataset obtained from the Israeli Ministry of Health website, with 96.34% accuracy and a 0.98 F1 score. Finally, this model was chosen to deploy the proposed prediction system to a website, where users may acquire an instantaneous COVID-19 prognosis based on their symptoms.

Remaja adalah individu yang berada pada tahap transisi antara masa anak-anak menuju dewasa. Periode ini dikenal dengan masa kritis dalam upaya pencarian jati diri dan rentan terjerumus dalam kenakalan dan perilaku buruk. Salah satu perilaku berisiko yang potensial akibat kenakalan remaja adalah penyakit HIV/AIDS. Angka kejadian penyakit ini meningkat setiap tahunnya. Kondisi ini sangat mengkhawatirkan, sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk menekan munculnya kasus baru dan juga penanggulangan yang komprehensif pada penderita. Remaja sebagai kelompok rentan juga perlu dibekali dengan pengetahuan pencegahan penyakit ini. Posyandu remaja dapat dijadikan salah satu wadah dalam upaya pencegahan penyakit ini. Kader remaja di setiap posyandu perlu dibentuk dan dilatih agar mampu menjadi perpanjangan tangan tenaga kesehatan. Setiap personil kader harus disiapkan dengan baik dan dibekali dengan pengetahuan yang cukup. Dengan demikian, upaya pencegahan perilaku berisiko ini dapat lebih luas dan masif dilakukan di kalangan remaja. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk memberikan edukasi kepada remaja terkait HIV/AIDS, guna mencegah perilaku buruk dan peningkatan kesehatan reproduksi remaja. Edukasi disampaikan dengan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab, serta dilengkapi dengan media pendukung berupa slide ppt dan leafleat. Untuk evaluasi yang digunakan adalah pretest dan post-test untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya peningkatan pengetahuan remaja. Sasaran kegiatan adalah remaja di posyandu remaja Anggun Nan Tongga Kota Pariaman. Dari kegiatan ini bisa dilihat terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan remaja sebesar 75%.

Menurut WHO 10-15% dari 100 juta perempuan di dunia terkena infeksi saluran reproduksi, dikarenakan kurangnya pengetahuan mereka mengenai kesehatan organ reproduksi. Pengetahuan yang kurang mengenai personal hygiene saat menstruasi bukan hanya meningkatkan resiko terjadinya infeksi saluran reproduksi (ISR) namun bisa menimbulkan infeksi saluran kemih (ISK), penyakit radang panggul (PRP), dan kemungkinan terburuknya bisa menyebabkan kanker rahim yang merupakan penyebab kematian nomor satu pada Wanita. Untuk mencegah kejadian ini, perlu memberikan pengetahun yang benar kepada perempuan mengenai kebersihan diri. Terlebih lagi, perempuan dengan aktivitas atau pekerjaan tertentu seringkali terkendala dalam menerapkan perilaku kebersihan ini. Salah satunya adalah pedagang pasar tradisional. Kondisi lingkungan pasar yang kumuh dan lembab sudah pasti menjadi sarang dari berbagai kuman. Tubuh menjadi kotor dan organ vital juga menjadi berkeringat, lembab dan gatal. Jika pedagang wanita sedang dalam periode menstruasi, tentu akan menambah lagi rasa tidak nyaman selama beraktivitas. Kondisi ini diperparah, jika fasilitas kebersihan seperti toilet umum dengan air bersih yang disediakan pihak pengelola pasar, tidak memadai. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk memberikan edukasi kepada wanita usia subur pedagang pasar, mengenai praktik kebersihan diri saat menstruasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan menggunakan media brosur kesehatan. Dilakukan pre-test dan post-tes untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya perubahan pengetahuan kelompok sasaran. Dari kegiatan ini bisa dilihat terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan menjadi 58%.

Pengelolaan arsip elektronik harus didukung oleh teknologi informasi yang baik dan memenuhi syarat-syarat pengelolaan kearsipan sesuai kaidah kearsipan yang berlaku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknologi informasi bidang kearsipan terhadap kualitas pelayanan dan efektivitas kerja pegawai dalam mengelola arsip. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan model studi literatur pustaka, kuesioner dan pendampingan penggunaan teknologi informasi bidang kearsipan. Metode analisa data menggunakan metode Skala likert, dan instrumen penelitian menggunakan D&M IS Success Model. Aplikasi yang digunakan adalah Sistem Informasi Manajeman Arsip (SIMARSIP). Responden penelitian adalah pegawai administrasi di enam fakultas di IPB. Hasil analisis data diperoleh informasi bahwa 91,94% responden menilai kualitas sistem aplikasi kearsipan sangat membantu pengelolaan arsip dinamis. Sebanyak 51,6% menyatakan kualitas informasi yang dihasilkan sangat akurat, 66,1% responden menyatakan aspek penggunaan sistem sangat memudahkan. Pada aspek kepuasan pengguna, 45,2% responden menyatakan sangat puas. Sebanyak 91,9% responden menyatakan aplikasi kearsipan memberikan dampak sangat baik dalam pelayanan dan efktivitas kerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bantuan teknologi informasi bidang kearsipan mempunyai pengaruh besar terhadap kualitas pelayanan dan efektivitas kerja pegawai dalam bidang kearsipan khususnya pada ketersediaan informasi arsip, penyediaan daftar arsip aktif, daftar arsip yang melewati masa aktif, dan daftar arsip usul musnah

Medical personnel play a critical role in caregiver safe infant sleep education. However, training outcomes in the safe infant sleep training literature have been mixed. Promising approaches that warrant further investigation are the use of behavioral skills training and pyramidal training. The current study consisted of two experiments. Experiment 1 extended Carrow et al. (2020) and Vladescu et al. (2020) by teaching medical students safe infant sleep practices using behavioral skills training. Discriminated responding was examined across trained and untrained environmental arrangements using a multiple-baseline design. All participants arranged safe sleep environments following behavioral skills training. In Experiment 2, we used pyramidal behavioral skills training to train medical students to teach others safe sleep practices. Results indicated high procedural integrity scores following training and generalization of skills.
