The article examines the collections of the Library and Archives of Canada, which cover the materials of the historical and documentary heritage of the country. The experience of the Library and Archives of Canada in structuring and organizing information resources on Ukrainian studies and search capabilities of the electronic catalog was analyzed. It was found that organized information arrays of thematic orientation form the source base for research in various disciplines, including Ukrainian studies. Collections and databases containing information resources on Ukrainian culture and history, including unique archival documents on the history of Ukrainian immigration to Canada, are considered. It is noted that providing access to databases of different thematic orientation allows the user to limit the search to a particular industry. It is emphasized that the Library and Archives of Canada play an important role in preserving Ukraine's historical and cultural heritage and disseminating knowledge about Ukraine. It was found that the provision of a set of navigation and search tools to ensure access to historical and cultural heritage and scientific heritage, the use of special thematic collections and databases in research and teaching and presenting them on the library website increases the role of the library and significantly increases efficiency of scientists' work. It is emphasized that it is expedient and useful for scientific libraries to study the experience of libraries in the world in structuring and organizing information resources on national issues., У статті розглянуто колекції Бібліотеки та архівів Канади, що охоплюють матеріали історико-культурної спадщини країни. Проаналізовано досвід Бібліотеки та архівів Канади зі структурування й організації інформаційних ресурсів українознавчої тематики та пошукові можливості електронного каталогу. З'ясовано, що впорядковані інформаційні масиви тематичної спрямованості утворюють джерельну базу для наукових досліджень різних дисциплін, зокрема українознавчих. Розглянуто колекції та бази даних, що містять інформаційні ресурси з української культури та історії, у тому числі унікальні архівні документи з історії імміграції українців до Канади. Зазначено, що надання доступу до баз даних різної тематичної спрямованості дає користувачеві змогу обмежити пошук певною галуззю. Наголошено, що Бібліотека та архіви Канади відіграють важливу роль у збереженні української історико-культурної спадщини й поширенні знань про Україну. З'ясовано, що надання комплексу навігаційних і пошукових засобів для забезпечення доступу до історико-культурної спадщини та наукового надбання, використання спеціальних тематичних колекцій і баз даних у дослідницькій діяльності й навчальному процесі, а також репрезентація їх на вебсайті бібліотеки значно підвищують роль установи й ефективність роботи науковців. Наголошено, що доцільним і корисним для наукових бібліотек є вивчення досвіду книгозбірень світу щодо структурування та організації інформаційних ресурсів національної тематики.

The article analyzes publications in the columns “Love and Know Your Native Land” of the Pereiaslav-Khmelnytsky newspaper Komunistychna pratsia (Communist Labor; since 1991 – Visnyk Pereiaslavshchyny (Pereiaslav Bulletin)), devoted to the history of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Everyday Life of the Middle Dnieper Ukraine (Pereiaslav, Kyiv region).This column was started by M. Palahuta in 1975 and lasted until 2001. It included such subheadings as “Our Compatriots”, “People of Pereiaslav Land”, “Famous Names of Pereiaslav”, “Museum’s Everyday Life”, “Museums of Pereiaslav”, “History of Local Villages”, “Interesting Finds”, “New Exhibits”, “What the Exhibits Are Telling”, “Guests of the City”, “From the History of the City”, “Interesting Events”, “From the Chronicle of the National Feat”, “Local Studies Work”. The researchers from the Pereiaslav-Khmelnytsky State Historical and Cultural Reserve actively contributed to the column. Among Them Were M. Palahuta, M. Zham, H. Kozii (Sliusar), L. Hodlina, O. Kolomiiets, O. Yuzvikova, Ye. Nesterovska, L. Nabok, and others. The history of formation and development of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Everyday Life of the Middle Dnieper Ukraine became the subject of a careful study conducted by the authors of the column. Particular attention is paid to ethnographic expeditions, search and museumification of monuments, new museum expositions, interesting exhibits, formation of ethnographic collections, anniversaries, folklore and ethnographic mass events, and other achievements in the development of the Pereiaslav skansen.The analysis of publications showed that most of them were informative, revealed the content and nature of scholarly, expeditionary, and exhibition activities of the skansen. Comprehensive study and maintenance of the column publications can be a significant addition to the source base in the study of the formation and development of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Everyday Life of the Middle Dnieper Ukraine. In some cases, out-of-section publications are considered for a better understanding of links between certain topics., У статті здійснено аналіз публікацій, оприлюднених на шпальтах рубрики «Люби і знай рідний край» Переяслав-Хмельницької газети «Комуністична праця» (з 1991 р. – «Вісник Переяславщини»), присвячених історії створення та діяльності Музею народної архітектури та побуту Середньої Наддніпрянщини (м. Переяслав Київської області).Зазначена рубрика була започаткована М. Палагутою у 1975 р. й проіснувала до 2001 р. Вона включала підрубрики: «Наші земляки», «Люди землі Переяславської», «Відомі імена Переяслава», «Музейні будні», «Музеї Переяслава», «Історія сіл району», «Цікаві знахідки», «Нові експонати», «Розповідають експонати», «Гості міста», «З історії міста», «Цікаві події», «З літопису всенародного подвигу», «Краєзнавча робота». Активними дописувачами рубрики були наукові працівники Переяслав-Хмельницького державного історико-культурного заповідника: М. Палагута, М. Жам, Г. Козій (Слюсар), Л. Годліна, О. Коломієць, О. Юзвікова, Є. Нестеровська, Л. Набок та інші. Предметом пильного студіювання авторів рубрики стала історія становлення й розвитку Музею народної архітектури та побуту Середньої Наддніпрянщини. Зокрема, приділена увага етнографічним експедиціям, пошуку та музеєфікації пам’яток, новим музейним експозиціям, цікавим експонатам, формуванню етнографічних колекцій, ювілярам, фольклорно-етнографічним масовим заходам та іншим здобуткам у розбудові Переяславського скансену.Аналіз публікацій показав, що більшість із них мають інформативний характер, розкривають зміст і особливості наукової, експедиційної, експозиційної, виставкової діяльності музею. Комплексне вивчення й уведення до наукового обігу публікацій рубрики може стати суттєвим доповненням джерельної бази у вивченні становлення й розвитку Музею народної архітектури та побуту Середньої Наддніпрянщини. В окремих випадках до розгляду залучаються публікації поза рубрикою для кращого розуміння зв’язків між дeякими темами.

У статті висвітлюються військові, дипломатичні і культурно-освітні аспекти діяльності генерал-хорунжого Армії Української Народної Республіки (УНР) Олександра Меркурійовича Пилькевича (1877–1922) в спогадах сучасників та наукових працях українських дослідників. Значна увага акцентується на великому внеску О. Пилькевича в організацію національно-освітньої, культурної роботи, створення військової журналістики в українських військових формаціях 1917–1921 рр. Зазначається, що до сьогодні багатогранна й подвижницька праця О. Пилькевича для утвердження української державності, дипломатичний хист під час переговорів з представниками російських державних структур Тимчасового уряду, а потім більшовиків, виховання вояків в національно-державницькому дусі досліджені недостатньо. Констатовано на вибірковому опрацюванні з архівів його особистих матеріалів.Наголошено на продовженні наукових напрацювань, присвячених цьому українському діячу. Зазначено, що в сучасних умовах протистояння України з російською державою-агресором досвід наших попередників з організації національно-державного життя сприятиме зміцненню власної самосвідомості військовослужбовців Збройних сил України та українського суспільства, слугуватиме утвердженню державотворчих традицій., The article covers the aspects of military, diplomatic, and cultural-educational activities of the Cornet-General of the UPR Army Oleksandr Merkuriiovych Pylkevych (1877–1922) in the memoirs of contemporaries and scholarly works of Ukrainian researchers. Much attention is paid to the great contribution of O. Pylkevych to the organization of national-educational and cultural work, the creation of military journalism in the Ukrainian military formations of 1917–1921. It is noted that even today the diverse and devoted work of O. Pylkevych for the establishment of Ukrainian statehood, his diplomatic skills during negotiations with representatives of the Russian state structures of the Interim Government and then the Bolsheviks, development of the national-state spirit of soldiers are insufficiently studied. It is determined by means of the selective processing of his personal archived materials.Emphasis is placed on the continuation of scientific work dedicated to this Ukrainian figure. It is noted that under the current conditions of Ukraine’s confrontation with the Russian aggressor state, the experience of our predecessors in organizing national and state life will help strengthen the self-consciousness of Ukrainian society and servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serve to consolidate state-building traditions of our people.

У статті наголошується, що один із головних викликів, які постали перед Україною після здобуття незалежності, і до сьогодні не втратив актуальності – це питання пошуку національної ідентичності. Українська ідентичність є визначальним підґрунтям становлення демократичних основ життя суспільства та української національної держави. В умовах глобальних викликів 2020 року питання утвердження української ідентичності ще більше актуалізується насамперед у контексті національної безпеки.Формування загальнонаціональної ідентичності є чинником національної безпеки України. Забезпечення національної безпеки особливо актуалізувалося в умовах тих змін і викликів, які виникли в епоху глобалізації. Нові виклики у сфері національної безпеки насамперед пов’язані з кризовими явищами у світовій економіці, епідемією коронавірусної хвороби, посиленням небезпеки виникнення надзвичайних ситуацій природного та техногенного характеру. Акцентується увага на тому, що у новій Стратегії національної безпеки України (2020) йдеться про протидію деструктивній пропаганді і про необхідність розвитку української культури як основи консолідації української нації та зміцнення її ідентичності.Аналізуються найбільші виклики 2020 року: COVID-19, криза в системі української освіти та демографічна криза. Поширення коронавірусної інфекції перетворилося на масштабну, реальну глобальну та одночасно національну загрозу безпеці України. Зазначається, що у сучасних умовах українська освіта не відповідає ані сучасним запитам з боку особистості та суспільства, ані потребам економіки, ані світовим тенденціям. Чинна в Україні система освіти не враховує викликів сьогодення, серед яких найвідчутніші – епідемія коронавірусної хвороби та збройна агресія РФ проти України. Демографічні тенденції сучасної України можуть призвести до значного зменшення чисельності українців і заселення країни іншокультурними іммігрантами, що внаслідок створить виклик державності та ідентичності., The article emphasizes the fact that one of the main challenges Ukraine faced after gaining its independence and which hasn’t lost its relevance till today is the question of finding its national identity. Ukrainian identity is the defining basis for the formation of democratic foundations of the society and the Ukrainian nation-state. In the context of the global challenges of 2020, the issue of establishing Ukrainian identity is even more relevant, primarily in the context of national security.Formation of the national identity is a factor in the national security of Ukraine. Ensuring national security has become especially important in the context of global changes and challenges that have arisen in the globalization era. New challenges in the field of national security are primarily related to the crisis in the world economy, the epidemic of coronavirus, increased risk of emergencies of natural and man-made nature. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the new National Security Strategy of Ukraine (2020) deals with counteracting destructive propaganda and the need to develop Ukrainian culture as a basis for consolidating the Ukrainian nation and strengthening its identity.The article analyzes the biggest challenges of 2020: COVID-19, the crisis in the Ukrainian education system, and the demographic crisis. The spread of coronavirus infection has become a large-scale, real global, and at the same time a national threat to Ukraine’s security. It is noted that in modern conditions, Ukrainian education doesn’t meet the modern demands of the individual and society, either the needs of the economy or global trends. The current education system in Ukraine doesn’t take into account today’s challenges, the most significant of which are the coronavirus epidemic and Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. Demographic trends in modern Ukraine can lead to a considerable reduction in the number of Ukrainians and the population of the country by foreign cultural immigrants, who, in turn, will create a challenge to statehood and identity.

The article deals with the phenomenon of Soviet identity in the modern Ukrainian society. On the basis of the survey, conducted among the representatives of different regions of Ukraine, the author identified respondents with Soviet identity, analyzed their social sentiments and their impact on the formation or breaking of the all-Ukrainian identity. Also, the factors shaping the positive image of the Soviet past were defined.The paper discovered that nostalgia for the Soviet past and devotion to the Soviet cultural and historical narratives are caused by such factors as social security and wealth, confidence in the future; paternalism; deep-rooted ideological clichés and the Soviet value system; remnants of the Soviet cultural heritage in the Ukrainian sociocultural space; family background of the Soviet memory; lack of critical re-evaluation of the Soviet past, etc. The author considers that “hybrid post-memory” is one of the factors that hold back Ukraine’s escaping from the Soviet historical and cultural space. This is when the people’s “memory” about political repressions and dekulakization is getting weak if their forefathers had not suffered from those tragedies. The survey demonstrates the low level of public activity among the respondents, caused by the autocratic and paternalistic model of the Soviet society, which means the need to be ruled and, as a result, disclaims personal and public responsibility and delegates it to others who can bring discipline into all spheres of life.The process of obtaining a new identity by Ukrainians is slow and sometimes contradictory, especially in the southeastern regions of Ukraine, where the majority of the population come under the strong impact of Russian and Soviet cultural and historical narratives. In particular, the survey results show that extreme anti-Ukrainian sentiments are revealed by the respondents with a strong Soviet identity., У статті розглядається явище радянської ідентичності у сучасному українському суспільстві. На основі проведеного опитування та інтерв’ювання представників різних регіонів України автором визначено респондентів-носіїв радянської ідентичності, проаналізовано їхні соціальні та політичні настрої, окреслено їх значення для формування або ж, навпаки, розмивання загальноукраїнської ідентичності, визначено основні чинники, що впливають на формування позитивного образу радянського минулого. З’ясовано, що ностальгія за радянським минулим і тяжіння до радянських культурних та історичних наративів зумовлені такими чинниками, як: відчуття соціального захисту, матеріального добробуту та впевненості у завтрашньому дні; патерналізм; укоріненість ідеологічних штампів, системи цінностей радянської епохи; наповненість українського соціокультурного простору «відголосками» радянської культурної спадщини; спадковість «радянської пам’яті»; відсутність критичного осмислення радянського минулого та ін. Автор зазначає, що одним із чинників, який гальмує вихід українців з радянського історико-культурного простору, є гібридна постпам’ять, коли «забуття» про політичні репресії та розкуркулення розчиняється у пам’яті тих, чиї родини не постраждали від цих подій. З’ясовано, що попри високу зацікавленість у політичному житті країни опитані засвідчили низьку громадянську активність; це явище випливає з авторитарно-патерналістської моделі радянського суспільства, котра передбачає потребу бути керованим кимось, а відтак знімає персональну соціальну та громадянську відповідальність і перекладає її на когось, хто «наведе порядок».Процес «переідентифікації» українського суспільства має повільний та подекуди гострий характер; особливо помітним це явище є у південно-східних регіонах України, де спостерігається сильний вплив російсько-радянських мовно-культурних та історичних наративів. Зокрема, результати дослідження засвідчили, що радикальні антиукраїнські настрої властиві тим респондентам, які визначили свою ідентичність як «радянську».

The study is devoted to the analysis of the origins, essence, scholarly, and cultural significance of the phenomenon of the Kyiv philosophical school. In the late 1950s – during the 1960s, Ukraine formed relatively favorable conditions for the development of the original direction of the philosophical research studying the logic of scientific knowledge, which resulted in the formulation of a worldview-rationalist concept of constructing scientific theories and obtaining reliable verified knowledge. Considering the impact of this school’s achievements on educational and research practice, we can talk about the paradigmatic status of this generalization due to its acquisition of a strong sociocultural sounding. Thus, Ukrainian science has received logical and methodological guidelines for the stages and processes of scientific research, the importance of various forms of knowledge organization, including ideas, problems, hypotheses, concepts, theories, and, ultimately, systematic knowledge about a particular object in the form of the normative science. The Kyiv philosophical school’s achievements significantly contributed to the formation of the style of scholarly thinking, refuting the incapability of the methodology of science declared by the official Marxist philosophy with its dogmatic regulators of the learning process as a party affiliation principle. The main centers for producing the worldview-rationalist philosophical ideas were Taras Shevchenko State University of Kyiv and the Institute of Philosophy of the UkrSSR Academy of Sciences. Its most famous representatives were P. Kopnin, V. Shynkaruk, M. Popovych, S. Krymskyi, and I. Bychko., Дослідження присвячено аналізу витоків, сутності, наукового та культурного значення феномену Київської філософської школи. Наприкінці 50-х – протягом 60-х років XX ст. в Україні склалися відносно сприятливі умови для розгортання оригінального напрямку філософських досліджень у сфері логіки наукового пізнання, наслідком чого стало формулювання світоглядно-раціоналістичної концепції побудови наукових теорій та отримання достовірного верифікованого знання. Враховуючи вплив здобутків цієї школи на освітню та дослідницьку практику, можна вести мову про парадигмальний статус даного узагальнення внаслідок набуття ним потужного соціокультурного звучання. Тим самим українська наука отримала логіко-методологічні орієнтири щодо етапності та процесуальності наукового пошуку, значення в ньому різних форм організації знання, зокрема ідеї, проблеми, гіпотези, концепції, теорії і в підсумку – систематизованого знання щодо певного об’єкта у вигляді нормативної науки. Здобутки Київської філософської школи істотно сприяли формуванню стилю наукового мислення, спростовуючи неспроможність задекларованої офіційною марксистською філософією методології науки з її догматичними регулятивами процесу пізнання у вигляді принципу партійності. Основними осередками продукування ідей світоглядно-раціоналістичної філософії були Київський державний університет імені Тараса Шевченка та Інститут філософії АН УРСР, а найвідомішими представниками – П. Копнін, В. Шинкарук, М. Попович, С. Кримський та І. Бичко.

У статті проаналізовано умови формування та діяльності 25-тисячників як «ударної» мобілізаційної групи, відрядженої ЦК ВКП(б) до України для прискорення темпів колективізації та розкуркулення, а фактично для здійснення Голодомору-геноциду українців у 1932–1933 рр. Методологія дослідження ґрунтується на реалізації принципів системного підходу для аналізу групи 25-тисячників з її структурно-функціональними, рольовими та поведінковими змінами, а також на порівняльно-історичному і проблемно-хронологічному методах. Наголошено, що у процесі організаційної, контролюючої та пропагандистської роботи з місцевим населенням 25-тисячники продемонстрували повну некомпетентність і конфліктність за умови відсутності практичного досвіду масової організації колгоспів та зосередженості на виконання плану «операції по кулаку». Доведено, що, компенсуючи брак такого досвіду, «ударні» групи, використовуючи своє привілейоване становище, перетворились на універсальну кадрову силу, потенціал якої не відповідав повноваженням, якими її наділяли, на бездумних, ідеологічно витриманих і «правильно мислячих» виконавців директив ЦК ВКП(б) щодо здійснення Голодомору-геноциду українців. Стверджено, що репресивно-каральний та мобілізаційний потенціал 25-тисячників фактично вичерпав себе у 1933 р., коли 85% селянських господарств охопила масова колективізація. Згідно з сучасними даними, за весь період розкуркулення за безпосередньою участю 25-тисячників до Сибіру і на північ Росії з України було вивезено від 1,5 до 2 млн. українців, а від 300 до 500 тисяч осіб було розстріляно на місці як «кулаків»., The article analyzes the circumstances of formation and activity of twenty-five-thousanders as a “strike” mobilization group. These people were sent by the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (CC AUCP(b)) to Ukraine to facilitate collectivization and dekulakization, which in fact meant committing the Famine-Genocide to Ukrainians in 1932–1933. The methodology of the study is based on the principles of the system approach to the analysis of the twenty-five-thousanders’ group with its structural, functional, role, and behavioral changes, and also the historical-comparative and problem-chronological methods. The research emphasizes that in the process of organizational, controlling, and propagandistic work with the local population, twenty-five-thousanders showed full incompetence and conflict-generating behavior, had no practical experience in mass organization of collective farms, and focused on implementing the “anti-kulak operation”. It is proven that to compensate for such lack of experience, the “strike” mobilization groups used their privileges and turned themselves into a universal personnel force whose potential did not correspond to the assigned powers, into ideologically “correct-minded” executors of the CC AUCP(b)’s directives aimed at committing the Famine-Genocide to Ukrainians. It is argued that the repressive, punitive, and mobilizing potential of the twenty-five-thousanders actually exhausted itself in 1933, when 85% of farms were collectivized. According to the contemporary data, during the whole period of dekulakization, actively supported by the twenty-five-thousanders, 1.5 to 2 million Ukrainians were exiled from Ukraine to Siberia and northern regions of Russia, and 300 to 500 thousand people were shot on sight as “kulaks”.

The article elucidates the history of the Khrinnytski szlachta family, who gradually ascended from the ranks of petty and nameless Volhynian szlachta to the status of the most influential families of the 16th – first half of the 17th century. They played an important role in the political, military, and public life of the Volhynian society. A historiographical review of the Polish genealogists’ works, who include Ukrainian szlachta to the ranks of the Polish nobility, demonstrates scarcity of information on this family and some inaccuracies, which were successfully corrected by means of documentary sources.On the basis of documents, the first cohorts of the clan are singled out and matrimonial ties and individual family structures are re-established. The occupations of individual family members who held important offices in the local administration of that time are identified. It is ascertained that the rise of the entire Khrinnytski House among the Volhynian szlachta began with Mykhailo Svatkovych, who, owning to his advantageous matrimonial ties, formed family connections with such powerful Volhynian families as the Semashkivs and the Rusyn Berestetskis, who were already holding important land offices by that time. Ivan Mykhailovych, the son of Mykhailo Svatkovych, gained some considerable influence among the szlachta: for almost 46 years he had held the office of Lutsk sub-judge and then that of Lutsk judge. Public activities of the family members are analyzed, especially their participation in the socioreligious fight, which was related to the significant changes taking place in the Commonwealth, and particularly Volhynia. The participation of the Khrinnitskis in the struggle against the introduction of the Brest Union and their partaking in the establishment of fraternities and in military expeditions is revealed and presented.The property status of the family during the 16th – first half of the 17th century is analyzed. The documents proved that the family members holding important land offices started to become rich and actively acquired estates. Profitable marriages with representatives of princely and magnate families also brought them big land holdings. All that contributed to the transition of the family from petty szlachta to a group of a few powerful magnate families., У статті з’ясовується історія шляхетського роду Хрінницьких, який поступово протягом XVI – першої половини XVII ст. переходить із числа рядової дрібної непомітної волинської шляхти до статусу найвпливовіших родів, які відігравали важливу роль у політичному, воєнному та публічному житті волинського соціуму. Історіографічний огляд праць польських генеалогів, які залучають до польської шляхти й українську, засвідчує недостатність інформації про цей рід та деякі помилки, які завдяки документальним джерелам вдалося виправити.На підставі документального матеріалу встановлено перші когорти роду, відновлено матримоніальні зв’язки та родинну структуру окремих його сімей. Виділяється діяльність окремих представників роду, які обіймали важливі місцеві уряди в тогочасному соціумі. З’ясовується, що вивищення цілого Хрінницького Дому серед волинського шляхетського загалу починається з Михайла Сватковича, який завдяки вигідним шлюбним зв’язкам породичався із впливовими волинськими родами Семашків і Русинів Берестецьких, які вже на той час обіймали важливі земські уряди. Значного впливу в шляхетському середовищі досягає син Михайла Сватковича Іван Михайлович, який протягом тривалого часу (майже 46 років) обіймав уряди спершу земського луцького підсудка, а потім і судді цього суду. Аналізується публічна діяльність членів роду, зокрема їх участь у суспільно-релігійній боротьбі, пов’язаній із суттєвими змінами, що відбуваються у внутрішньому житті Речі Посполитої, зокрема й на Волині. Показано участь Хрінницьких у боротьбі проти запровадження Берестейської унії, їх діяльність у заснуванні братств та воєнних виправах.Розглядається майновий стан роду протягом XVI – першої половини XVII ст. На документальному матеріалі доводиться, що члени роду, обіймаючи важливі земські уряди, починають збагачуватися й активно придбавають маєтки. Значні земельні володіння приносили їм і вигідні шлюбні партії з представницями/представниками князівських і магнатських родів. Все це сприяло переходу роду з числа дрібного шляхетського загалу до групи небагатьох впливових магнатських родів.

Мета даної наукової статті полягає у розгляді діяльності Центру української культури та освіти «Осередок» та теоретичного обґрунтування його внеску у процеси збирання, дослідження, збереження та подальшого експозиціонування історичної, культурної та духовної спадщини української діаспори Канади. Саме об’єднання зусиль суспільно-політичних організацій та відомих громадських діячів заклало важливу підвалину в збереження нації в тяжких воєнних та соціальних умовах перебування на чужині. «Осередок» став не лише взірцем українознавчої освіти, але і важливим центром розбудови українсько-канадських відносин, а також загалом вплинув на розвиток канадської культури. Вперше здійснена спроба узагальнення різних аспектів порушеної проблеми., The purpose of this article is to consider the activities of the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Center «Oseredok» and the theoretical justification of its contribution to the collection, research, preservation and exhibition of historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada. «Oseredok» became not only a model of Ukrainian studies education, but also an important center for the development of Ukrainian-Canadian relations, and also influenced the development of Canadian culture in general. To achieve this goal, the necessary number of sources and historiographical literature touched on various aspects of the problem were examined. Such general historical scientific research methods as historical-genetic, historical-comparative and historical-typological were used.The relevance of this study is related to the modern national-cultural movement, which is embodied in the activities of organizations, art, educational and scientific centers, the introduction of new Ukrainian festivals, the study of previously classified, archival documents. Some aspects of this problem were revealed in the works of such researchers as: Jus O. V., Matyash I. B., Solonskaya N. G. and Priymak T. M. However, in our opinion, the monument protection and sociocultural activities of the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Center «Oseredok» is worth more indepth research.Thus, the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Center «Oseredok» was the unifying force that brought together under one cultural cover Ukrainians with different religious beliefs, political views and values. The founders and patrons of the «Oseredok» were prominent Ukrainian figures: O. Koshetz, T. Koshetz, P. Matsenko, M. Mandryka, T. Pavlychenko, P. Yuzyk, V. Kossar, M. Marunchak, J. Rudnytsky and others. For 76 years, Oseredok has become the guarantor of the collective memory of the Ukrainian people. Even the house of the organization, formerly the House of the Bible Society, has great spiritual power, which contributes to a noble socio-cultural mission. The versatility of the Center's activities, which includes archival, library, museum, educational and publishing work, is striking. The archive of the organization has the largest collection of documents, memoirs, photographs, maps in Canada, which covers the period of 16th - 20th centuries. Valuable are the documents and memoirs of I. M. Bobersky, E. M. Konovalets, the Koshets family, as well as a monument of the 18th century – Irmola by Georgy Tyapetsky. «Oseredok» has a rich library collection of more than 40 thousand volumes and 10 thousand periodicals. Nomocanon of the 17th century is a very rare book. The collection of the museum of the Center consists of 8 thousand exhibits, which includes objects of decorative and applied arts, musical instruments, church utensils, personal belongings. In the collections of the art gallery you can see paintings by more than 30 Ukrainian artists from realism to avant-garde. The Center has higher education courses that have brought up many prominent Ukrainians. The publishing activity of the center not only contributed to the development of science and art, but also acquainted the whole world with the rich Ukrainian culture. Thus, Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre «Oseredok» is a model of cultural preservation organization.

Background. One of the main issues of linguistics of the XX – early XXI century is a comprehensive study of the concept of discourse, which reflects a variety of real manifestations of human language communication in certain social spheres of its communicative space. The actualization of this concept in various scientific fields, the representatives of which study the essence and mechanisms of interaction of constants of such linguistic and philosophical dichotomies as “language and society”, “language and man”, has led to the need for its clear definition and typology of discourses etc. Despite the fact that linguists use a number of methods of discursive analysis of linguistic units, there is currently no single approach to their study within the theory of discourse.The purpose of the article is to identify and substantiate the features of the literary text in terms of modern discourse. The main objectives of the article: to determine the typological and categorical features of artistic discourse, to establish and describe the most important aspects of the study of artistic texts of different genres within discourse.Methods. The paper uses general scientific methods of observation, analysis, synthesis, comparison; linguistic methods, including the descriptive method – to interpret the discursive status of the literary text; the method of integrative analysis, which is the basis of a comprehensive study of a set of different aspects used in the study of the literary text as the embodiment of individualauthorial communicative intentions; the contextual-interpretive method – to identify probable reading strategies of reception of the literary text and its components.Results. The concept of discourse in the broadest sense is associated with all manifestations of communication. Discourse is a consequence of modeling knowledge structures that provide strategic planning, flow and control of communication, the operation of mechanisms of communicative competence, regulation of interactivity processes and more. An important communicative-semantic segment of the holistic nature of the analyzed concept is its interaction with various factors that reflect the essence of communication, in particular with the concept of the text. The linguistic tradition still has a great influence on the development of theoretical principles of categorization and typology of the concept of discourse, because until recently the discourse was often identified with the text as a complex linguistic sign that arises as a result of the process of language formation. Currently, researchers outline the structural and semantic parameters of the text with a number of features that also appear relevant and objective for the discourse: completeness; coherence; integrity; lexical, grammatical, logical, stylistic, semantic coherence; compositional completeness; communicative and pragmatic orientation, etc. Differentiation of discourses is one of the most important issues of modern discourse, which is currently a problem that researchers, based on a wide range of different socio-linguistic manifestations of communication, solve differently. To establish a typology of discourses, as well as texts, it is necessary to develop common criteria for their classification and determine the main categories of text and discourse. Artistic discourse, in contrast to other discourses, involves indirect communication of the author (sender) with numerous readers (addressees). When creating a text, the writer predicts the expected reaction to its content from readers, instead of “translating” the literary text into the discourse, the recipients carry out in their own way, based on their own knowledge, experience, feelings and emotions. The interaction of the addressee author with numerous addressees is devoid of real communicative factors, in particular temporal and local fixation. Despite the lack of direct contact, the writer's communicative influence on readers is obviously effective: if the artist has a deep knowledge of the language, individualizes and emphasizes linguistic means, it evokes a certain attitude to his literary texts and their evaluation by readers.Discussion. At the present stage of development of texts of any styles and genres requires discursive analysis, because in the language of fiction recorded authorial intentions that should “decipher” speakers in the process of dynamic cognition of semantic and semantic depths of a text, involving their own practical experience and knowledge during its decoding. We see prospects for further research of this topical problem in the study of features of artistic discourses of classic writers and famous contemporary artists, whose language creation is organically connected with the development of the Ukrainian literary word as an important component of the linguistic and cultural universe.

The research is dedicated to F. Vovk’s book collection and the Library of the Museum (Cabinet) of Anthropology and Ethnology Named after F. Vovk. The list of problems that help to implement the research objective consists of bibliographic description of rare books from the “Rare books collection with F. Vovk’s name on bookplates, inscriptions, and marginalia” in the Library Fund of the National Museum of Ukrainian History (the object of the study), and its three (sub)collections (subjects of the study); characteristics of the content, chronology, language, and topics of publications with focus on certain copies depending on the role of their content or authors in Ukrainian studies. The author substantiates that the studied collection (171 units) constitutes one of the largest rare books collections in the Library Fund of the National Museum of Ukrainian History and contains fragments of libraries of many prominent scholars. The research provides reasons for the receipt of the fragment of the library of the former Museum (Cabinet) to the National Museum of Ukrainian History in 1936; its future; final discovery by the museum experts in the 2010s and introduction into scientific circulation, as well as into museum communication. Reasonable assumptions about the non-scholarly division of the library of the former Museum (Cabinet) are made, relying on the comparison of the Library Fund of the National Museum of Ukrainian History and the book collection of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The object of this research is analyzed as the source for ethnology, ethnography, local, and Ukrainian studies. The information from bookplates, inscriptions, and marginalia forms the base for the outlines of the biographies of the authors of publications. Representativeness of the studied ­(sub)collections is determined in comparison with their original content according to the archival sources. Research prospects are set in the context of the mission of bibliographers, historians, and experts in Ukrainian Studies to develop “Professor F. Vovk’s Memory Department”, initiated in the 1920s by his associates and brutally interrupted by the Great Terror., У статті визначено актуальність продовження дослідження книжкового зібрання Ф. Вовка та бібліотек наукових інституцій, названих його ім’ям і відомих під узагальненою назвою Музей (Кабінет) антропології та етнології ім. Ф. Вовка при ВУАН. Окреслено коло проблем дослідження: бібліографічне та книгознавче вивчення рідкісних і цінних книг трьох (під)колекцій з колекції «Книжкові пам’ятки з екслібрисами, маргіналіями та інскриптами з ім’ям Ф. К. Вовка» бібліотечного фонду Національного музею історії України (далі – НМІУ-бф); характеристика тематики, хронології, мови та інших особливостей видань з увагою на окремі публікації залежно від ролі їх змісту або автора/ки в українознавчих студіях. Обґрунтовано те, що вивчена колекція (171 од.) є однією з найбільших у НМІУ-бф і містить також фрагменти бібліотек відомих вчених. Подано інформацію про причини надходження фрагмента бібліотеки Музею (Кабінету) в НМІУ в 1936 р., його подальшу долю, поступове віднайдення співробітниками НМІУ в 2010-х роках, введення в науковий обіг і музейну комунікацію. На основі порівняння НМІУ-бф із колекцією Національної бібліотеки України ім. В. Вернадського зроблено обґрунтовані припущення про ненауковий розподіл бібліотеки Музею (Кабінету). Проведено аналіз об’єкта дослідження як джерелознавчої бази з етнології, етнографії, краєзнавства, народознавства та українознавства. Зроблено нариси до біографій авторів публікацій на основі інформації екслібрисів, інскриптів і маргіналій. Визначено репрезентативність (під)колекцій порівняно з оригінальним складом. Окреслено перспективи теми у контексті того, що книгознавці, історики та українознавці продовжують місію створення «Пам’яткового відділу проф. Хв. Вовка», започатковану в 1920-х роках його сподвижниками та брутально перервану репресіями.

The release of the collection “Little Russian Songs Published by M. Maksymovych” in 1827 became the event that led to revolutionary changes in the advance of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of the first third of the 19th century. The preface to this book, outlined both as the manifesto of Ukrainian romanticism and the first declaration of Ukrainian studies, based on the dominant idea of the “universal nation”, initiated the processes of new conceptualization of the common identity of Ukrainians. Two next collections by Maksymovych – “Ukrainian Folk Songs” and “Collected Ukrainian Songs” – also became important in establishing a new methodological paradigm of the complex of sciences about Ukraine and Ukrainians: the totality of their metadiscursive modalities witnessed the formation of ideological models characterized not as Little Russian, but genuinely Ukrainian consciousness, directed towards the “horizon” of worldview imperatives of folk verbal culture.For the first time, such ideological transformations resulted in the literally mass movement of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, who began coordinating their efforts around the practices and theoretical modalities of the common national cause – the collection of Ukrainian songs. Perceptions of the social “nature” of Ukrainians as a separate ethnic community began to change rapidly: the division into gentry and Cossacks, on the one hand, and into peasantry deprived of any political subjectivity, on the other hand, was no longer perceived as axiomatic. The same songs heard throughout the entire Ukrainian ethnographic territory caused the emergence of the first modern concepts of the national territorial unity; a new understanding of the history of Ukraine based on the ethos and historiosophy of the heroic melodious epic was also being formed. Although M. Maksymovych did not question the integrity of the empire in his legacy, objectively the ideas and strategies of the Ukraine-focused school that he conceptualized had a revolutionary character and significantly influenced the processes of forming the communal identity of Ukrainians., Вихід у 1827 р. збірки «Малороссийские песни, изданные М. Максимовичем» став подією, яка спричинила до революційних змін у поступі українського визвольно-національного руху першої третини XІX ст. Передмова до цієї книги, яка окреслилася як маніфестом українського романтизму, так і першою декларацією опертого на домінанту «всестанової народності» українознавства, стала точкою відліку для процесів нової концептуалізації спільнотної ідентичності українців. Важливими в утвердженні нової методологічної парадигмальності комплексу наук про Україну та українство стали також дві наступні Максимовичеві збірки – «Украинские народные песни» та «Сборник украинских песен»: у цілокупності їхніх метадискурсивних модальностей розгорталося становлення ідеологічних моделей не малоросійської, а вже справді української свідомості, зорієнтованої на «горизонт» світоглядних імперативів народної словесності.Наслідком цих ідеологічних трансформацій вперше постає справді масовий рух української інтелігенції, яка починає координувати свої зусилля довкола практик та теоретичних модальностей спільної загальнонаціональної справи – збирання українських пісень. Стрімко починають змінюватися уявлення про соціальну «природу» українства як окремішньої етнічної спільноти: розподіл, з одного боку, на шляхту й козацтво та, з другого – позбавлене політичної суб’єктності селянство більше не сприймається за аксіоматичний. З’ясування того, що одні й ті ж пісні лунають на всьому обширі української етнографічної території, зумовлює появу перших новочасних концепцій територіальної соборності народу; формується також і оперте на етос та історіософію героїчно-пісенного епосу нове розуміння історії України. Попри те, що в доробку М. Максимовича цілісність імперії не піддавалася сумніву, об’єктивно ідеї та стратегії концептуалізованої ним українознавчої школи мали революційний характер, суттєво вплинувши на процеси формування спільнотної ідентичності українців.

The article presents the problem of spiritual achievements of the Ukrainian National-Democratic Revolution of 1917. With the legitimation of their own power institutions, Ukrainian studies became widespread, as a generalized complex of knowledge about the modern Ukrainian nation. The process of uniting Ukrainians into a political nation needed to educate and educate the society on the basis of Ukrainian values. Recognizing this important component of its development activities, the national governments of Ukraine (General Secretariat of the Ukrainian People's Republic, State Secretariat of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, Council of Ministers of Hetmanat Paul Skoropadsky, the Council of People's Ministers during the Development of the Directory of Ukraine). Having been defeated in the struggle for the preservation of Ukrainian statehood, national forces, meanwhile, were able to preserve and show to the society the potential of Ukrainian studies as a factor in the education of ethnic identity. Even the regime of the dictatorship of the proletariat, intensified by the policy of "war communism", did not become a hindrance. Moreover, the Bolsheviks, in their own way, accepted from the national forces the "baton" of public dissemination of Ukrainian studies. Considering the latter as an effective mechanism for gaining authority among the masses, the leaders of the Communist Party and the Soviet government treated Ukrainian economics with economic prudence. Not only did the Soviet authorities retain the achievements of their opponents in the civil war, but also transformed them into their own political "indigenization" campaign, which began in 1923 and brought numerous bonuses to the Bolsheviks, both on the internal and external contours of life. The author made the aforementioned analysis and his conclusions in this article on the basis of the study of the national books in 1920, kept in the State Archives of the Book of Ukraine named after Ivan Fedorov., У статті порушено проблему духовних здобутків Української національно-демократичної революції 1917 р. З ле­гіти­мацією власних владних інституцій набуло поширення українознавство як узагальнений комплекс знань про модерну українську націю. Процес згуртування українців у політичну націю потребував просвіти й виховання суспільства на засадах українознавчих цінностей. Усвідомлюючи цей важливий компонент своєї розбудовчої діяльності, національні уряди України (Генеральний Секретаріат Української Народної Республіки, Державний Секретаріат Західноукраїнської Народної Республіки, Рада Міністрів Гетьманату Павла Скоропадського, Рада Народних Міністрів за часів Директорії УНР) приділяли значну увагу розвиткові українознавства. Зазнавши поразки в боротьбі за збереження української державності, національні сили зуміли зберегти та явити суспільству потенціал українознавства як чинник виховання етнічної ідентичності. Завадою не став навіть режим диктатури пролетаріату, посилений політикою "воєнного комунізму". Навіть більше, більшовики своєрідним чином прийняли від національних сил "естафету" суспільного поширення українознавства. Розглядаючи останнє як дієвий механізм здобуття авторитету серед народних мас, керівники Компартії та радянського уряду поставилися до українознавства з господарською ощадливістю. Радянська влада не тільки зберегла українознавчі здобутки супротивників по громадянській війні, а й трансформувала їх у власну політичну кампанію "коренізації" (українізації), що стартувала 1923 р. і принесла більшовикам численні бонуси на внутрішньому й зовнішньому контурах життя. Зазначений аналіз і його артикульовані у цій статті висновки авторка зробила на підставі вивчення вітчизняних книгодруків 1920 р., що зберігаються в Державному архіві друку Книжкової палати України.

The article deals with the essence of Ukrainian ethnic, national and ethnocultural processes and their influence on the development of the Ukrainian ethnocultural space as an object of Ukrainian studies. Ethnic processes have been found to be sequential changes that have occurred and will occur with the Ukrainian people throughout their development and existence as a self-sufficient ethnic community, and are directly related to the ethnogenesis of Ukrainians. It is proved that nation-building processes are complex transformations that occur both in a regular order (evolutionary) and abrupt (revolutionary) and contribute to the formation of a nation, the highest form of political structuring of the ethnic group and its further development and self-organization, which eventually lead to political emergence. nation, and the creation of Ukrainian civil society. It is shown, that the Ukrainian ethno-cultural processes is a process of a long-term historical development, in which Ukrainians created on the territories of their existence an ethno-cultural space based on the common origin and territories of Ukrainians, the existence of traditional Ukrainian culture, the intriduction of the Christian faith. It was pointed out that the Ukrainian ethnocultural space includes a peculiar and unique complex of material and spiritual culture of the Ukrainian people created during a long time, and acquired originality and perfection. Eight “conflicting points” in Ukrainian ethnocultural development have been determined. The synergistic interaction of ethnic, state-forming, nation-forming and ethno-cultural processes contributed to the long-time consistent development of the Ukrainians from a small ethnic community lived in the Middle Dnieper as their core trerritiry to the modern nation whose representatves are living on different continents.

The article deals with aspects of the interconnection of the phenomena of social trauma and social conflict, especially in the context of modern Ukrainian society, as well as in the context of the problems of Ukrainian studies discourse. The authors note the extreme importance of the phenomenon of social trauma in the state of health, in the vital program of the individual, in the collective self-identification of social groups, in particular of nations, and the problems and specifics of the manifestation of social trauma in philosophical and sociological sciences. Social trauma is capable to influence the personality's understanding of the meaning of its existence, the interpretation of the direction of development of social processes, the content of interpersonal and intergroup relations in the society. As a result of the defeat of one of the parties of a social conflict, the trauma itself can turn into a conflict factor in the social organism. The authors emphasize the diverse impact of social trauma on the emergence and course of social conflicts in interpersonal and intergroup spheres in the history and contemporary realities of Ukrainian society. It is emphasized that social trauma can be caused not only by real but also by fictional events, which can also cause social conflicts. The article emphasizes the extremely important role of the value positions of the subjects of social conflict in the ranking of traumatic events in the Convention of Ukrainian Studies, shows the influence of these positions on the interethnic and interclass relations in Ukraine. The peculiarities of the connection of social trauma with social conflicts in the life of the modern Ukrainian society in the post-truth situation are also analyzed. The authors emphasize that provoking social conflict by means of creating a post-truth situation if post-truth speculates on real or imagined social trauma is especially dangerous for the society. An ongoing social conflict will be deep and lasting. The manipulation of historical facts by placing them in a post-truth situation is illustrated in the article by facts from the sphere of hybrid warfare conducted by the Russian Federation in the eastern territories of Ukraine. The article explores several aspects of the impact of social trauma on social conflicts in the context of anomie in the spiritual life of the Ukrainian society.

Nowadays in Ukraine there is a dynamic progress in the dissemination of inclusive education. It determines the need to study and adapt the experience of other countries, taking into account the specifics of domestic realities. Of special interest are the countries of North America, in particular Canada and the United States, which have a fairly long history of inclusive education. The comparative analysis will enable us to identify the possibility of applying the most effective strategies of inclusion in the educational system of Ukraine Nowadays, in Ukraine, there is a certain dynamic progression of inclusive distribution. It is this that actualizes the need to study and use the experience of other countries, taking into account the specifics of domestic realities. Amid existence of a number of concepts of inclusive education in the world of educational space different approaches are distinguished in the methodological framework. Comparing the essential understanding of these approaches in North American and Ukrainian educational systems, there is unanimity of views in common positions. However, there are certain differences, particularly in recognizing the SEN position of the child as subject and object in the system: Western inclusive education system is fully regulated by law, while in Ukraine there is a gradual overcoming of the philanthropic vestiges through the expansion and improvement of the legal framework with the underlying international instruments. Awareness of the position of individual approach as the cornerstone of an inclusive education system in both educational scientific communities generally coincides. Unity of scientific views of North American researchers and Ukraine is also observed in the vision of status and role positions of all participants in inclusive education as a prerequisite for regulatory functioning education system. Unanimous scientists of both scientific schools and the professional competence of teachers as a key tool for coordinated activities in the inclusive class and the functioning of the educational system as a whole. The definition of common components and specific features of the development of inclusive education on the basis of ideological interpretations will help to determine the general character of the grounds for the inclusive form of education and to use the positive experience of Western countries in Ukrainian realities effectively.

The article deals with the development of Ukrainian studies in museums of Naddnipprianska Ukraine during the imperial period. At the time, a rather wide museum network worked here. Museums were created and operated at various organizations - universities and other educational institutions; scientific institutions; self-government bodies, etc. The lack of the central imperial power’s museum policy was typical. This led to the fact, that museum institutions were often operated under conditions of insufficient funding and enough government support. Russia's imperial policy towards the Ukrainian national movement in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was aimed at its restriction and prohibition. Any manifestation of official Ukrainophile activity should be controlled and restricted. At the same time, intelligentsia, the Ukrainian national movement activists, took an active part in the creation and follow-up of museum institutions. On the other hand, the Ukrainian national movement activists found an opportunity to actively use their work in cultural and educational institutions, including museums, as well as to cooperate with them for the purpose of research in the field of Ukrainian studies. In addition, collections of museum facilities could be used in research in the relevant field. Accumulation of Ukrainian studies was an important factor in national processes, the implementation of the "Ukrainian project". The article highlights Ukrainian studies conducted in some museums in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv. These museums contained collections, dedicated to Ukrainian ethnography, archeology and history. These museums, thanks to the position of their employees, collected and systematized collections on the history and culture of Ukraine, published scientific products on the basis of their collections.

The article is devoted to the analysis of constitutional foundations of the Ukrainian statehood. The focus of consideration is put on the nature of the Ukrainian form of government. The Constitutions of the Cossack State of Pylyp Orlyk, the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, modern independent Ukraine have been observed. It is proved that the strategic vector of all Ukrainian basic laws consisted in orientation towards the unified and unitary order of a democratic republic. This orientation is conditioned by the ontological continuity of the Ukrainian ethnos both in time and space, democratic foundations of civic life. The rights of national minorities were to be considered by granting citizens with national and personal autonomy. All attempts to legislatively impose on Ukraine the federal system were caused by the external forceful interference. The creation of autonomous structures in its territory had the purpose of destabilizing and dismembering Ukraine. This is testified by the destructive designation of such “autonomies” as Donetsk-Kryvyi Rih, Taurida, and Bessarabian “Soviet republics” in the time of the UPR; the Moldavian ASSR within the USSR; the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as part of modern Ukraine. They all served as a foothold for unfolding the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The modern Russian hybrid warfare against Ukraine uses in its aggressive arsenal the idea of federalization or internal “autonomization” of Ukraine as one of the main means for achieving its goal. In this context, any changes to the basic law of Ukraine should not call into question its unity and unitarity., Статтю присвячено аналізу конституційних засад української державності. Простежено конституції Козацької держави Пилипа Орлика, Української Народної Республіки, Української Радянської Соціалістичної Республіки, сучасної незалежної України. Доведено, що стратегічним пріоритетом усіх українських основних законів була орієнтація на соборний та унітарний лад демократичної республіки. Ця орієнтація зумовлена онтологічною неперервністю буття українського етносу як у часі, так і в просторі, демократичними засадами громадянського життя. Права національних меншин передбачалось розглядати шляхом надання громадянам національно-персональної автономії. Усі спроби нав’язати Україні введення в законодавчу систему федеративного устрою пов’язані із зовнішнім силовим втручанням. Створення на її території автономних структур практикувалось з метою дестабілізації та розчленування України. Про це свідчить руйнівне призначення таких «автономій», як Донецько-Криворізька, Таврійська та Бессарабська «радянські республіки» в часи УНР, Молдавська АРСР у складі УРСР, Автономна Республіка Крим у складі новітньої України. Всі вони слугували плацдармом для розгортання агресії проти України з боку Росії. Сучасна гібридна війна Росії проти України в своєму агресивному арсеналі ідею федералізації чи внутрішньої «автономізації» України використовує як один із головних засобів досягнення своєї мети. В цьому контексті будь-які зміни в Основному законі України не мають ставити під сумнів її соборність та унітарність.

The article reveals the peculiarities of ethnic design in the applied arts of the late 20th – early 21st century. Due to their versatility and multidimensionality, applied arts are enriched by ethnic design. The use of various elements of ethnic design in decorative arts depends on their appropriateness and the author’s preferences, the tastes of the consumer for whom the work is meant. Traditionalism is the key path of ethnic design development, which involves the emergence of the new at the expense of the old, or the creation of the new by entering the old. Thus, there is a constant renewal of the tradition. This traditionalist trend has a definite link to regional, socioeconomic, natural, climatic, and local conditions. On the other hand, the appeal to the past and popular sources of culture laid the foundation of ethnic design primarily as a phenomenon of stylization rather than style. The works of professional artists trace the use of established folk traditions and the tendency to create spatial compositions of figurative and associative content in order to convey deep philosophical thoughts, mood, emotions, and worldview in different materials by elastic means; to embody a certain idea, a specific image. The professional decorative Ukrainian art of this period constitutes a large layer of national culture, which is formed within the framework of the pan-European artistic process. Carpets and decorative glass are being increasingly used as a cultural space to embody symbolic images in vivid decorative forms.The purpose of specializing the ethnic design of the subject environment is to use regional ethnic cultural traditions, the environment conceptually offered as a basis for the development of design projects and creative experiments in the field of non-duplicated design. It is concluded that the folklore stylization (ethnic design) is not a rejection of the present, not a restoration. It is a human need for spiritual support of national traditions and interconnectedness of generations., У статті виявлено особливості етнодизайну у декоративно-прикладному мистецтві кінця XX – початку XXI ст. Декоративно-прикладне мистецтво збагачується завдяки етнодизайну. Застосування тих чи інших елементів етнодизайну у декоративно-прикладному мистецтві залежить як від уподобання самого автора, так і від доцільності, рівня вподобань споживача, на якого орієнтований витвір. Головний шлях розвитку етнодизайну – це шлях традиціоналізму, який передбачає виникнення нового за рахунок старого або створення нового шляхом входження в старе. Таким чином, відбувається постійне самооновлення традиції. Цей традиціоналістський напрям має цілком певну прив’язку до регіону, соціально-економічних, природно-кліматичних та місцевих локальних умов. З іншого боку, звернення до минулого, народних джерел культури започаткувало етнодизайн насамперед як явище стилізації, ніж стилю. У роботах професійних художників простежуються використання усталених народних традицій і тенденція до створення просторових композицій образно-асоціативного змісту з прагненням пластичними засобами в різних матеріалах передати глибоку філософську думку, настрій, емоції, світовідчуття, втілити певну ідею, конкретний образ. Професійне декоративне мистецтво України кінця XX – початку XXI ст. – це величезний пласт національної культури, який формується в межах загальноєвропейського художнього процесу. Килимарство та декоративне скло все активніше використовуються як культурний простір для втілення символічних образів у яскравих декоративних формах.Метою спеціалізації етнодизайну предметного середовища є використання регіональних етнокультурних традицій, яке було концептуально запропоновано як основа для розробки дизайн-проектів і творчих експериментів у галузі нетиражованого дизайну. Підсумовано, що фольклорна стилізація (етнодизайн) – це не відмова від сучасності, не реставрація. Це потреба людей в духовній опорі на національні традиції, взаємозв’язок поколінь.

The article analyzes military totemic cults, the veneration of the wolf in the aristocratic classes of Scythian and Sarmatian ethnic groups. The work also discusses similar traditions of ancient European peoples who bordered on Scythia and Sarmatia, in particular, totem customs of Eastern Celts and Getae-Dacians. It is determined that in Indo-European ethnic groups, the cult of the beast-predator had formed the military outlook of the ruling aristocracy from ancient times. Central and Eastern Europe in the pre-Scythian period already observed the existence of militaristic totemism. In the 7th–3rd centuries BC, during the Scythian era, totemic military cults became widespread. This is evidenced by the proper names of the Scythian militant associations (Saki-Humovargs, Daoi-Wolves), references of ancient authors, archaeological findings of sacred military insignia (military flags), and the widespread use of the “beast-style” with an aggressive predator. In the 3rd c. BC – 2nd c. AD, Sarmatia witnessed even a greater dissemination of the military totemism. At that time, the cult of the wolf became particularly important. Ritual objects, depictions of wolf-like animals on the hilts and handguards of Sarmatian swords (acinaceses), and individual names of Sarmatian subethne (Urgi-wolves) are all striking examples of the totemic military cult of the wolf warrior as an ancestor of the Sarmatian peoples. The same totemic traditions of the neighboring European peoples – the Dacians and the Eastern Celts – should be considered separately. The Dacians had a pronounced military custom of worshipping the wolf, and the Celts had similar traditions, including the totemic wild boar cult. Nevertheless, influence of the Scythian, and later, Sarmatian military traditions, which could have had a significant impact on all neighboring ethnic groups, is noted as the dominant one., У статті аналізуються тотемні військові культи вовка у правлячих станів скіфського та сарматського кіл етносів. Також розглядаються аналогічні традиції давніх народів європейського континенту, що межували зі Скіфією та Сарматією, зокрема тотемні звичаї у східних кельтів та гето-даків. Визначається, що в індоєвропейських етносів з давніх часів культ звіра-хижака формував військовий світогляд правлячої аристократії. В передскіфській період у Центральній та Східній Європі вже існував тотемізм мілітарного характеру. В період скіфського кола VII – III ст. до н. е. тотемні військові культи набули значного поширення. Про це свідчать власні назви скіфських войовничих об’єднань (саки-хумоварги, даої-«вовки»), згадки античних авторів, археологічні знахідки сакральних військових відзнак (бунчуків-штандартів) та розповсюдження «звіриного стилю» з агресивним хижаком. У III ст. до н. е. – II ст. н. е. у Сарматії військовий тотемізм набув ще більшого поширення. В цей час особливого значення набуває культ вовка. Предмети ритуального призначення, зображення вовкоподібних звірів на руків’ях та гардах сарматських акінаків, окремі самоназви сарматських субетносів (ургі-«вовки») є яскравими прикладами тотемної військової традиції першопредка воїна-вовка у сарматських народів. Окремо слід розглядати аналогічні тотемні традиції сусідніх європейських народів – гето-даків та східних кельтів. Даки мали яскраво виражений військовий звичай шанування вовка, а кельти – аналогічні культи, зокрема тотемний культ вепра. Попри це відзначається домінуючий вплив скіфської, а пізніше – сарматської військових традицій, які могли чинити значний вплив на всі сусідні етноси.

The development of domestic humanities in the first quarter of the 19th century had distinctively stated the exhaustiveness of the “intellectual proposals” enabled by historiography – the then key vector of Ukrainian studies. Despite all their latent opposition to the formal imperial discourse, social, cultural, and research strategies formed in the frame of the “Little-Russian autonomism” failed to cross the “growth borders” of the Hetmanate seniors’ ideology. First and foremost, this related to the administrative borders which were totally different from those of Ukrainians’ ethnic settlement (Left-Bank Hetmanate, which attracted the primary attention of almost all creators of the Ukrainian historiography monuments of the distinguished period, constituted only a part of our ethnic terrain), and denominational borders (Orthodoxy retained its leading status in marking the affiliation with the “Cossack-Rus people”, diminishing the interest in the history of those Ukrainians who professed Greek-Catholic Christianity, “Cossack clerks”, and their intellectual heirs). Neither Ukrainian literary texts of that time, encircled in the ghetto of Kotliarevsky’s writings, nor the newly emerged ethnography, which had not yet gained the capacity of the Ukrainian-centric thought, managed to have become dominant for the new, encompassing, confessional-pluralistic and territorial-consolidating Ukrainian ideology (Ukrainian studies being its worldview and scholarly representation). However, the process of the Ukrainian folk art development, in particular, the activity of Z. Dolenha-Khodakovskyi, who initiated systematic collection and contemplation of folk songs, pointed out the tendencies which served as messengers of new concepts for forming the communal identity of Ukrainians. The devoted work of Z. Dolenha-Khodakovskyi became an impetus for brining the collection and contemplation of oral folk language arts to the level of the worldview imperative of the intellectual search in the Ukrainian studies space., Розвиток вітчизняної гуманітаристики у першій чверті XІX ст. з особливою виразністю засвідчив вичерпаність «інтелектуальних пропозицій», на які спромоглася провідна в тогочасному українознавстві напрямна – історіографія. Суспільно-культурні та наукові стратегії, виформувані в системі координат «малоросійського автономізму», попри свою латентну опозиційність до офіціозного імперського дискурсу, виявилися неспроможними вийти за межі «кордонів росту» старшинської ідеології Гетьманщини. Йдеться насамперед про кордони адміністративні, які абсолютно не збігалися із межами етнічного розселення українців (Лівобережна Гетьманщина, на якій концентрували практично всю свою увагу творці пам’яток української історіографії окресленого періоду, була лише однією з частин нашого етнічного терену), та кордони конфесійні (православ’я продовжувало правити за визначальний маркер належності до «козако-руського народу», через що історія тієї частини українців, які сповідували греко-католицький варіант християнства, «козацьких канцеляристів» та їхніх інтелектуальних спадкоємців просто не цікавила).Стати домінантою нової всестанової, конфесійно-плюралістичної та територіально-соборної ідеології українства (світоглядно-науковою репрезентацією якої українознавство у тих історичних умовах і поставало) не спромоглося ні локалізоване в гето «котляревщини» тогочасне українське письменство, ні новопостала етнографія, яка не здобулася ще на перспективність україноцентричного розмислу. Попри це у процесі розвитку української фольклористики, зокрема – у діяльності З. Доленги-Ходаковського, який першим почав системно збирати й осмислювати народну пісенність, вияскравилися тенденції, що окреслилися передвістям нових концепцій формування спільнотної ідентичності українців. Подвижницька праця З. Доленги-Ходаковського стала поштовхом до того, що збирання та осмислення усної народної словесності почало в просторі українознавства підноситися до рівня світоглядного імперативу інтелектуального пошуку.

This article determines the novelty of the research of Hnat Koltsuniak’s biography – the repressed figure of Ukrainian science and culture of Galicia of the first third of the 20th century. The research emphasizes the areas of scientific knowledge and arts where his activity was fundamental: ethnic, ethnographic, and art studies. The purpose of the proposed article is to continue the reconstruction of Hnat Koltsuniak’s life on the cumulative basis of fragmented historiography, new archival information, and visual sources; study of the role which his artistic and scientific work played in the cultural and historical discourses of the first third of the 20th century and those of independent Ukraine. The visual sources of the research studied “de visu” (works of art, museum documentation) have been summarized in the topical media archives. The historiography and sources of the article have been systematized, cited, and commented on. The contribution of Kyiv and Kolomyia museum professionals, who consulted the proposed research, has been determined. The main part of the article is presented as the reconstruction of the Galician, military (World War I, the period of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921), and Kyiv periods of Hnat Koltsuniak’s life. Some hypotheses about his exile in 1933–1937 have been made. The analysis of the book covers and inscriptions (a type of bookplates) created by Hnat Koltsuniak has been carried out from the point of view of book studies. The article identifies the criteria which make the copies with his publication and inscriptions stored in the librarian fund of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine prospective for inclusion in the State Register of National Cultural Heritage. The contents and fate of the book collection of the Cabinet of Anthropology and Ethnology named after Fedir Vovk, established in honor of the founder of Ukrainian studies and destroyed by repressions, is additionally highlighted. Such research methods and their challenges are defined: lack of archival information, in particular that of the Soviet punitive and repressive organs; insufficient amount of Hnat Koltsuniak’s works of art in museum collections. The prospects of this research on the basis of new archival information are determined., У статті визначено наукову новизну дослідження біографії репресованого діяча української науки та культури Галичини першої третини ХХ ст. Гната Миколайовича Колцуняка. Зроблено акценти на ті сфери наукового знання та мистецтва, де його діяльність мала фундаментальний характер: народознавчі, етнографічні та мистецтвознавчі студії. Метою дослідження обрано продовження реконструкції долі Г. Колцуняка на основі узагальнення розрізненої історіографії, нової архівної інформації, візуальних джерел, вивчення ролі мистецького та наукового доробку персоналії в культурологічному та історичному дискурсах першої третини ХХ ст. та України незалежної. Опрацьовані de visu візуальні джерела (мистецькі твори, музейна документація) узагальнені в медіа-архів дослідження. Систематизовано, процитовано та прокоментовано історіографію і джерельну базу дослідження. Зазначено про внесок музейників Києва та Коломиї – консультантів дослідження. Основна частина статті подана як реконструкція галицького, воєнного (Перша світова вій­на та доба Української революції 1917–21 рр.) і київського періодів життя Г. Колцуняка, зроблено припущення щодо подій у період його заслання в 1933–37 рр. Проведено книгознавчий аналіз книжкових обкладинок та інскриптів, створених Г. Колцуняком. Визначено критерії, за якими примірники з його публікацією та інскриптами в бібліотечному фонді Національного музею історії України мають перспективу внесення в Державний реєстр національного культурного надбання. Додатково висвітлено зміст і долю книжкової колекції Кабінету антропології та етнології ім. Ф. Вовка, заснованого на честь фундатора українознавства та знищеного репресіями. Подано методи дослідження, визначено його виклики: брак архівної інформації, зокрема радянських карально-репресивних органів, мала збереженість творів Г. Колцуняка в музейних колекціях. Визначено перспективи дослідження на основі нових архівних джерел.

З урахуванням новітніх праць з історіософії та методології гуманітаристики у статті з’ясовуються об’єктивна необхідність, мотиви, сутність, особливості та наслідки соціокультурного повороту в українознавстві. Він трактується як певний злам у методології, переорієнтація дослідницьких стратегій науковців, перенесення акцентів на дослідження пріоритетної ролі людини, культури і духовності в суспільному розвитку, зміна оптики наукового пізнання та оновлення його методів на основі цивілізаційної теорії Й. Гердера, О. Данилевського, О. Мірабо, А. Тойнбі, С. Хантингтона, О. Шпенглера, К. Ясперса та ін., синергетики та міждисциплінарності. Соціокультурне трактування історичного процесу розглядається як альтернатива марксистському монізму та партійно-класовому підходу до культури. Наголошено на культурологічній традиції українознавства як інтегративної системи знань про Україну і українців, започаткованій у працях В. Антоновича, М. Грушевського, М. Костомарова, П. Куліша, В. Липинського, І. Лисяка-Рудницького, І. Огієнка, І. Франка, Д. Чижевського, С. Шлемкевича та ін., показано значення її потужного пізнавального потенціалу для подальшого дослідження історії, змісту та світоглядних основ культури і освіти, подолання і запобігання негативних наслідків комунізації суспільства та масової культури доби постмодерну.Розкрита взаємодія соціокультурного повороту з цивілізаційною парадигмою і антропологізмом українознавства як передумови утвердження людиноцентризму і подальшої інтеграції у світовий науково-інформаційний простір. В епіцентрі новітніх українознавчих студій В. Андрущенка, Л. Губерського, В. Горського, П. Кононенка, В. Крисаченка, М. Поповича, О. Рафальського, В. Шейка, М. Юрія та ін. перебуває українська людина як найвища цінність, безпосередній носій національної та цивілізаційної ідентичностей суспільства, алгоритм взаємодії людини, культури і соціуму як системи цінностей, морально-етичних норм та ментальності. Аналізуються нові виклики, які постали перед українознавством, його інтелектуальним потенціалом на тлі глобалізації, тривалої воєнної і гібридної агресії путінської Росії проти України, активізації імперської парадигми «русского міра», намагань кремлівських науковців заперечити окремішність українського народу, нав’язати маніпулятивні міфи про так звану «общую історію» та «штучність» державності України., Taking into account the latest works on the historiosophy and methodology of humanities, the article clarifies the objective need, motives, essence, features, and consequences of the sociocultural change in Ukrainian studies. It is interpreted as a certain break in the methodology, reorientation of scientific research strategies; shifting emphasis on the research of the prioritized role of the man, culture, and spirituality in social development; changing the optics of scientific knowledge and updating its methods based on civilization theory of J. Herder, O. Danylevskyi, H. Mirabeau, A. Toynbee, S. Huntington, O. Spengler, K. Jaspers, etc., synergetics and interdisciplinarity. Sociocultural interpretation of the historical process is regarded as an alternative to Marxist monism and the party-class approach towards culture. The emphasis is laid on the cultural traditions of Ukrainian as an integrative system of knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians, introduced in the works by V. Antonoyych, M. Hrushevsky, M. Kostomarov, P. Kulish, V. Lypynskyi, I. Lysiak-Rudnytskyi, I. Ohiienko, I. Franko, D. Chyzhevskyi, S. Shlemkevych, and others; shows the value of its powerful cognitive potential for further study of history, content, and ideological bases of culture and education, overcoming and prevention of the negative consequences caused by social communization and postmodern mass culture.The article reveals the interaction of sociocultural turn with the civilizational paradigm and the anthropologism of Ukrainian studies as prerequisites for affirmation of human-centrism and further integration into the global scientific and informational space. At the epicenter of the newest Ukrainian studies by V. Andrushchenko, L. Huberskyi, V. Horskyi, P. Kononenko, V. Krysachenko, M. Popovych, O. Rafalskyi, V. Sheik, M. Yurii, and others is a Ukrainian as the highest value and the immediate carrier of national and civilizational identities of the society, as well as an algorithm of interaction between people, culture and society as a system of values, moral and ethical norms, and mentality. The study analyzes new challenges facing Ukrainian studies, their intellectual potential against the background of globalization, the prolonged military and hybrid aggression of Putin’s Russia against Ukraine, activation of the imperial paradigm of the “Russian World”, Kremlin scientists’ efforts to deny the distinctiveness of the Ukrainian people and impose manipulative myths about the so-called “common history” and “artificiality” of the Ukrainian statehood.

The article is based on the materials of the repository collections of Kyiv region museums and author’s field researches conducted during 2015–2020. The ethnocultural traditions of wearing and decorating handicraft sheepskin and leather goods in the late 19th – first half of the 20th century Kyiv Province are examined. Under the impact of some historical, social and cultural factors, the sheepskin and leather goods as the components of traditional Ukrainian costume have been transformed. Due to development of light industry and impact of urban fashion, the traditional forms of footwear, sheepskin outerwear and men’s headwear have been displaced by the new types of manufactured products. Disappearance of authentic clothing as an object of Ukrainian culture may cause the destruction of national heritage of our people. Ukrainian folk costume is an irreparable resource. Thus, the aim of historians, ethnologists, and Ukrainian studies researchers is both to study and promote public protection of components of the authentic Ukrainian costume.The author discovers sheepskin and leather goods from the repository collections of Kyiv region museums, which are located within the administrative structure of the late 19th – first half 20th century Kyiv Province. It is found that there is a lack of sheepskin and leather objects at some museums. The research demonstrates that the leather footwear and sheepskin clothing from the museum collections of Kyiv region are not numerous; however, they show the diversity of forms and materials of footwear, outerwear and men’s headwear. The author examines their artistic and functional peculiarities, character features of their cut and decoration, and the ways of their preservation and popularization as well., Стаття написана на основі матеріалів фондових колекцій музейних установ Київщини. Залучено польові дослідження автора, здійснені у 2015–2020 рр. Розглянуто етнокультурні традиції побутування та художнього оформлення виробів зі шкіри та хутра в Київській губернії у кінці ХІХ – першій половині ХХ ст. Під впливом історичних, соціальних та культурних чинників вироби зі шкіри та хутра як компоненти народного українського вбрання зазнали трансформацій. Розвиток легкої промисловості та вплив міської моди призвели до витіснення традиційних видів верхнього хутряного одягу, чоловічих головних уборів та взуття новими, більш уніфікованими формами фабричного виробництва. Зникнення автентичного вбрання як об’єкта культурної спадщини українців призводить до руйнування національного надбання нашого народу. Народний одяг українців є невідновним ресурсом. Тому одним із завдань істориків, етнологів, українознавців має бути не лише наукове вивчення, але й популяризація та пропагування суспільної охорони пам’яток автентичного одягу українців. Здійснено дослідження предметів зі шкіри та хутра, що зберігаються у фондових колекціях музейних установ Київщини, котрі знаходяться в межах адміністративно-територіального устрою Київської губернії кінця ХІХ – першої половини ХХ ст. З’ясовано, що у частині музеїв такі вироби відсутні зовсім або представлені поодинокими екземплярами. Зазначено, що зразки виробів зі шкіри та хутра, що зберігаються у фондових колекціях музейних установ Київщини, хоч і є нечисленними, проте гідно репрезентують різноманіття матеріалів та форм верхнього хутряного одягу, чоловічих головних уборів, шкіряного взуття. Розглянуто їх художньо-конструктивні прийоми, характеристики крою та декорування, шляхи збереження та популяризації.

The article analyzes the political activity of Chernihiv voivodeship nobility in exile during 1648–1667. The purpose of the work is to study the parliamentary activities of the forced migrants in the context of competitions for the establishment of control over Left-Bank Ukraine between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Zaporizhian Host, and the Tsardom of Muscovy. The chronological framework of the research is 1648–1667. The lower margin is due to the outset of the Cossack revolution, which initiated the process of transforming Chernihiv voivodeship into an integral part of the Hetmanate. The upper margin is justified by the conclusion of the Truce of Andrusovo, which left the region under the influence of the Moscow tsar for 13.5 years. Despite the fact that the diplomatic capitulation of the Polish-Lithuanian State was the Treaty of Perpetual Peace (1686), it was the Truce of Andrusovo that made refugees from Ukrainian voivodeships finally lose their estates, as indicated by the monetary compensation from the Moscow tsar.The article deals with the content of ambassadorial instructions, in which the szlachta raises the issue of returning its estates and providing compensation for its losses. In order to achieve those goals, voivodeship representatives used the full spectrum of possible parliamentary pressure, in particular, were ready to threaten the consistency of general sejm sessions. This ultimately led to receiving monetary compensations (however, insufficient, according to the petitioners). The sejm success of the Chernihiv nobility was modest. In the light of the difficult military and political situation in the country, the “Chernihiv issue” remained a minor problem in the face of greater threats. Despite this, even small achievements of Chernihiv members of parliament could not deny the fact of a high political activity during their “exile” period., У статті аналізується політична активність шляхти Чернігівського воєводства на вигнанні протягом 1648 – 1667 рp. Мета роботи полягає у вивченні парламентської діяльності вимушених мігрантів у контексті змагань за встановлення контролю над Задніпров’ям між Польсько-Литовською державою, Військом Запорозьким та Московським царством. Хронологічні рамки роботи охоплюють 1648 – 1667 рр. Нижня межа зумовлена початком козацької революції, що започаткувала процес перетворення Чернігівського воєводства на складову частину Гетьманщини. Верхня межа обґрунтована укладанням Андрусівського перемир’я, за яким цей регіон на 13,5 років потрапляв до сфери впливу московського царя. Попри те, що дипломатичною капітуляцією Польсько-Литовської держави став Вічний мир (1686), уже після Андрусова вигнанці з українських воєводств остаточно втратили свої маєтки, на що вказує грошова компенсація з боку Московського царства. У статті розглядається зміст посольських інструкцій, в яких шляхта порушує питання про повернення своїх маєтків та компенсацію збитків, пов’язаних з їх втратою. Для досягнення поставлених цілей представники воєводства використовували увесь спектр можливого парламентського тиску, зокрема були готові погрожувати зривом вального сейму. Головним результатом цього стало отримання грошового відшкодування (недостатнього, на думку прохачів). З приводу сеймових успіхів чернігівського рицарства підсумки були скромними. Зважаючи на скрутну військово-політичну ситуацію в державі, «чернігівське питання» залишалося другорядною проблемою на фоні більших загроз. Незважаючи на це, навіть незначні досягнення чернігівських парламентарів не можуть заперечити факт їх високої політичної активності в період «екзили».

The article is based on the materials studied by the author in Taras Shevchenko Library Archives of the Union of Ukrainians in Great Britain. It focuses on well-planned and organized actions of Ukrainians of the Western diaspora related to their longterm efforts to launch the Ukrainian edition under “Voice of America” radio station and exercise the rights of Ukrainians for receiving truthful information about the situation in the world and in sub-Soviet Ukraine in their native language.The prerequisites, forms, and methods of conducting the public action “The Ukrainian Radio Movement”, which began in Ulm, Germany, under the leadership of the well-known publicist Ivan Bahrianyi, and spread to Ukrainian centers in the United Kingdom, France, USA, and Canada, are analyzed. The article is based on the rare prints of newspapers “Ukrainski Visti” (Ulm) and “Ukrainska Dumka” (London), the evolution of this initiative traced down to its positive outcome.The information about the first “Voice of America” broadcast in Ukrainian, published in “The New York Herald Tribune” (November 23, 1949), is translated into Ukrainian. A review of the protests of the “Russian World” adherents against Ukrainian-language broadcasts of the global radio, published on the pages of the Russian emigration body in Paris, “Russkaya Mysl” , is conducted.Separately, the article dwells on the establishment of public control over the content of radio programs by the members of representative organizations of the Ukrainian diaspora. The necessity of such an initiative was caused by the fact that at the initial stage, the content produced by the Ukrainian editorial staff was untruthful in terms of the Ukrainian history., Стаття написана на основі опрацювання автором матеріалів у бібліотеці-архіві імені Тараса Шевченка Союзу Українців у Великій Британії. Йдеться про добре сплановані та організовано проведені акції українців західної діаспори, пов’язані з кількарічними їх домаганнями відкрити при радіостанції «Голос Америки» українську редакцію, та про реалізацію прав українців отримувати правдиву інформацію про ситуацію в світі і в підрадянській Україні рідною мовою. Проаналізовані передумови, форми і методи проведення громадської акції «Рух за українське радіо», яка розпочалася в німецькому Ульмі під проводом відомого публіциста Івана Багряного й поширилася на українські осередки у Великій Британії, Франції, США та Канаді. На основі рідкісних на сьогодні підшивок газет «Українські Вісті» (Ульм) та «Українська Думка» (Лондон) простежено еволюцію цієї ініціативи аж до її позитивного розв’язання. Подається в перекладі українською мовою перше повідомлення про початок українського мовлення «Голосу Америки», яке було надруковане на сторінках The New York Herald Tribune (число європейського випуску від 23 листопада 1949 року).Зроблено огляд протестів адептів «русского міра» проти україномовних передач світового радіо, які публікувалися на сторінках органу російської еміграції в Парижі «Русская Мысль».Окремо йдеться про налагодження представниками презентативних організацій української діаспори громадського контролю за змістом радіопередач. Необхідність такої ініціативи була викликана тим, що на початковому етапі діяльності української редакції зміст її передач мав неправдивий щодо української історії характер.

On the basis of previously unknown documents, the author researches the course of the military operation of the Northern Group of the UPR Armed Forces against the Red Army units in Korosten region in March 1919. The relevance of the study is determined by the complete lack of coverage of the Korosten operation in historical literature, although the successful acquisition of Korosten by Ukrainian troops was the first significant military success of the UPR Army during its second war with the Soviet Russia (1918–1920). The publication is based on the documents of the General Staff of the UPR Army, which are currently stored in the funds of the Central State Archives of Supreme Bodies of Power and Government of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), as well as materials of the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Soviet Front stored in the Russian State Military Archives (Moscow, Russia). The vast majority of these archival documents are introduced to scientific circulation for the first time. The author highlights the goals and tasks which the Ukrainian Command sought to achieve during the operation; determines the ratio of the forces of the belligerents; analyzes the composition and number of forces involved on both sides; reveals the main stages of the military operation on the acquisition of Korosten in March 1919, the role of the units and squads of the UPR Army during the course of the seizure of the town. The author reconstructs in details the course of the fighting crowned with the victory of the Ukrainian weapon; determines the place of these events in the strategic line of the Ukrainian Command; shows their influence on the further course of the military operations. It is emphasized that the successful implementation of the Korosten operation was of extreme strategic importance, providing the Ukrainian Army with the opportunity to avoid the invasion from the north and deploy an active offensive operation in the eastern direction at the same time. The victory of Korosten in March 1919 not only allowed the Ukrainian troops to intercept the strategic initiative but also became the first step towards organizing a general counter-offensive by the UPR Army against Soviet troops in the Right-Bank Ukraine in the spring of 1919., На підставі невідомих раніше документів висвітлено перебіг військової операції Північної групи армії УНР проти з’єднань Червоної армії у районі Коростеня в березні 1919 р. Актуальність дослідження зумовлена цілковитою невисвітленістю коростенської операції в історичній літературі, хоча успішне здобуття українськими військами Коростеня стало першим значним військовим успіхом армії УНР в ході другої війни з Радянською Росією (1918–1920 рр.). Основу джерельної бази публікації склали документи Генерального штабу армії УНР, що зберігаються нині у фондах Центрального державного архіву вищих органів влади та управління України (Київ, Україна), а також матеріали штабу Українського радянського фронту, які знаходяться в Російському державному військовому архіві (Москва, Росія). Переважна більшість використаних у роботі над публікацією архівних документів вводяться до наукового обігу вперше. Автором визначено цілі й завдання, яких прагнуло досягти українське командування в ході здійснення операції. Розкрито співвідношення сил ворогуючих сторін, визначено склад і кількість задіяних з обох сторін військових сил. Розкрито основні етапи військової операції зі здобуття Коростеня в березні 1919 р., висвітлено роль частин і з’єднань армії УНР в ході захоплення міста. Докладно реконструйовано перебіг бойових дій, що завершилися перемогою української зброї. Визначено місце цих подій у стратегічних планах українського командування й показано їхній вплив на подальше розгортання військових операцій. Підкреслено, що успішне здійснення армією УНР коростенської операції мало надзвичайне стратегічне значення, оскільки забезпечувало запілля українських військ від вторгнення з півночі й водночас давало змогу українській армії розгорнути активну наступальну операцію на схід. Перемога під Коростенем у березні 1919 р. не лише дала змогу українським військам перехопити стратегічну ініціативу, але й стала першим кроком на шляху до організації загального контрнаступу армії УНР проти радянських військ на Правобережній Україні навесні 1919 р.

У статті звернена увага на те, що після розпаду СРСР як геополітичного утворення та здобуття Україною незалежності у 1991 р. українство опинилося в ситуації вибору напряму подальшого розвитку, у якій, воно, з одного боку, повинно побудувати сучасну, соціально ефективну та економічно розвинену державу, а з другого – реалізувати важливий соціокультурний потенціал, який формувався в минулому, і подолати конфлікт цінностей та світоглядовий розкол в українському соціумі.Наголошено, що єдиний спосіб подолати наслідки світоглядної кризи – це спробувати сформувати нові світоглядні установки, нові виховні ідеали на основі правдивих історичних джерел, які б розвінчували існуючі історичні міфи та радянський пантеон героїв і радянські цінності освіти.Розкрито основні напрямні у подоланні конфліктних ситуацій в українському суспільстві між радянським та пострадянським світоглядами в освітньому просторі незалежної України, в основі яких лежать збереження національної пам’яті, врахування помилок минулого та здійснення активних дій, спрямованих на захист своєї держави; формування нових сакральних місць історичної пам’яті, власного пантеону українських історичних постатей державного, військового і культурно-релігійного спрямування; вивчення та впровадження міжнародного, всеукраїнського та регіонального досвіду вшанування пам’яті українських героїв; перепрограмування змісту національно-патріотичного виховання з акцентом на нові виховні ідеали, цінності та світоглядні установки.Особливу увагу зосереджено на впровадження українознавчих засад в освіті та вихованні підростаючого покоління, які є потужним засобом для викорінення посттоталітарних підходів організації мислення та пізнання., The article draws attention to the fact that after the collapse of the USSR as a geopolitical entity and gaining its independence in 1991, Ukraine faced the situation of choosing the direction for its further development, in which, on the one hand, it had to build a modern, socially efficient and economically developed state, while on the other, realize the important sociocultural potential formed in the past.The author of the article emphasizes that the only way to cope with the outcomes of the outlook crisis is to try a new set of worldview standpoints, new educational ideals based on new credible historical sources, which would dispel the existing historical myths and help overcome the Soviet pantheon of heroes and educational values.The article reveals main directions in overcoming the conflict situations in the Ukrainian society between the Soviet and post-Soviet worldviews in the educational space of the independent Ukraine, based on the preservation of national memory, considering the mistakes of the past, and taking active actions for the defense of the state; the formation of new sacred places of historical memory, a new indigenous pantheon of Ukrainian historical figures of state, military and cultural-religious activity; studying and implementing international, all-Ukrainian and regional experience in honoring the memory of Ukrainian heroes; reprogramming the content of national patriotic education with an emphasis on new educational ideals, new values, and ideological standpoints.Particular attention is paid to the introduction of Ukrainian studies principles in the education and upbringing of the younger generation – a powerful way to eliminate post-totalitarian approaches toward thinking and learning.

Статтю присвячено проблемі інформаційного протистояння упродовж російсько-грузинського конфлікту 2008 р. Україна, як і будь-яка країна світу, має вагому потребу в створенні ефективної системи протидії інформаційним викликам та загрозам. У наш час деякі держави розглядають інформаційну війну як ефективний інструмент реалізації зовнішньої політики. В розрізі сучасної гуманітарної ситуації, що склалась в Україні, важливим кроком у формуванні стратегії інформаційної безпеки є вивчення, осмислення та врахування здобутків досвіду зарубіжних країн новітнього часу. Особливий інтерес становить досвід, отриманий в аналогічних міжнародних ситуаціях. Таким, зокрема, є російсько-грузинський конфлікт 2008 р., а саме його інформаційна складова. Більшість вчених схильні вважати, що інформаційне протистояння в цьому конфлікті, незважаючи на явну військово-технічну перевагу РФ, залишилось за грузинською стороною. Передумовою для ведення ефективної інформаційної війни 2008 р. проти РФ було проведення реформ на початку ХХІ ст., утвердження свободи слова та формування системи ЗМІ в країні. Грузинська стратегія інформаційної війни була спрямована на подачу альтернативної, «неросійської», точки зору світовій спільноті; орієнтована на уникнення внутрішніх конфліктів в рамках політики демократизації країни. Важливим передвісником успішності інформаційної кампанії грузинської сторони стала ефективна робота ЗМІ, яка мала системний характер, хоча і не була позбавлена суб’єктивних оцінок. Суголосні сучасним українським реаліям спроби РФ показати Грузію як «агресора» щодо власних громадян і сусідньої держави не увінчались успіхом, навіть більше, грузинські ЗМІ разом з іноземними журналістами зуміли показати окупаційний характер дій з боку РФ. «Грузинські уроки» інформаційної війни варто розглядати важливим підґрунтям у розбудові стратегії інформаційної безпеки України. Вочевидь, їх аналіз має бути системним та неупередженим, врахувати здобутки та помилки реалізаторів, а головне – дати можливість об’єктивного та адекватного прогнозу щодо ймовірних майбутніх гуманітарних викликів., The article is devoted to the consideration of the specifics of information confrontation during the Russian-Georgian conflict of 2008. Ukraine, as any country in the world, has a strong need for an effective system to counter information challenges and attacks. Nowadays, some countries consider the information war as an effective tool for foreign policy implementation. The development of information security in the current humanitarian situation of Ukraine requires studying and taking into account relevant achievements of the modern foreign countries. Thus, especially valuable is the experience gained in similar international situations, namely in the Russian-Georgian conflict of 2008, its information component being of particular interest. The majority of scientists support the idea that the information confrontation in this conflict, despite the apparent military and technical superiority of the Russian Federation, remains on the Georgian side. A prerequisite for conducting an effective information war against the Russian Federation in 2008 was the implementation of reforms in the early 21st century, strengthening of freedom of speech, and further establishment of the media system in the country. An effective, systematic work of media, although not free from subjective assessments, served the success of the information campaign of the Georgian side. Russian attempts to show Georgia as an aggressor, similar to those undertaken in modern Ukraine, were not successful; moreover, Georgian media, together with foreign journalists, managed to disclose the occupational character of the Russian Federation’s actions.“Georgian lessons” of information war should be considered as an important foundation for the development of the information security strategy of Ukraine. Evidently, their analysis should be systematic and unprejudiced, should take into consideration all achievements and mistakes of the performers, and, above all, allow for an objective and adequate forecast of new humanitarian challenges.

Стаття присвячена дослідженню перспективності застосування парадигми пограниччя у міських розвідках. Фокус уваги на внутрішніх та зовнішніх кордонах міста сприяє кращому розумінню багатьох міських процесів. Аналіз кордонів за п’ятьма аспектами (політичний, фізичний, соціально-просторовий, психологічний та функціональний), використаний у тексті, є фактично аналітичним інструментом, що допомагає у виявленні та комплексному вивченні міських кордонів та соціальних процесів, пов’язаних з їх виникненням та функціонуванням. Так, основними функціями політичних кордонів є структурування міської території та упорядкування діяльності у її межах. Існування цих кордонів сприяє регулюванню стосунків містян з владними структурами та установами міста. Фізичні кордони завжди присутні у просторі будь-якого міста як міські об’єкти. Вони допомагають у комплексному сприйнятті простору, а також виконують роль маркування території. Типовим для міст є існування економічних, культурних, етнічних, релігійних кордонів тощо. Нерідко соціальні проблеми, розбіжності в поглядах та світосприйнятті знаходять своє фізичне втілення у конструюванні соціально-просторових кордонів. Не менш важливим є дослідження невидимих кордонів – тих, які конструюються містянами ментально. Дослідження психологічних кордонів дає можливість зрозуміти логіку просторової поведінки населення та сприяє глибшому розумінню процесів, що відбуваються в місті. З психологічним сприйняттям кордонів пов’язане дослідження функціональних кордонів у місті. Це питання стосується насамперед дослідження просторів діяльності. У пропонованій до уваги читачів статті проаналізовано кордони у м. Ірпені за згаданими вище аспектами. Апробація цього підходу на конкретному кейсі засвідчила як існування фізичних кордонів у просторі Ірпеня, так і уявних ментальних кордонів у свідомості містян, які, однак, є не менш важливими та нерідко знаходять своє відображення у реальному зонуванні території або застосуванні обмежувальних заходів. Проте будь-які кордони мають свої функції і далеко не завжди їхня роль є негативною. Розуміння внутрішньої логіки їх створення сприяє більш гармонійній взаємодії спільноти з цими кордонами., The article is devoted to the study of promising use of the borderland paradigm in urban research. The focus on the inner and outer boundaries of the city contributes to a better understanding of many urban processes. The analysis of boundaries by five aspects (political, physical, socio-spatial, psychological, and functional), used in the text, is an analytical tool for the identification and comprehensive study of urban boundaries and social processes associated with their occurrence and functioning. The main functions of political boundaries are the structuring of urban territory and the organization of activities within its boundaries. The existence of these borders facilitates the regulation of relations between city dwellers and the administrative bodies of the city. Physical boundaries are always present in the space of any city as city objects. They help in the complex perception of space and also act as markers of the territory. Typical of cities is the existence of economic, cultural, ethnic, religious boundaries, and so on. Often, social problems, differences in views and worldviews find their physical embodiment in the design of social and spatial boundaries. Equally important is the study of invisible borders, i.e. constructed by city inhabitants mentally. The study of psychological boundaries allows us understanding the logic of spatial behavior of the population and promotes a deeper comprehension of the processes taking place in the city. The study of urban functional boundaries is related to their psychological perception. This question regards, first of all, investigating spaces of activity. The boundaries of Irpin are analyzed in this article by the above-mentioned aspects. The approbation of this approach in a concrete case study has shown the existence of physical boundaries in Irpin, as well as mental boundaries in the minds of its citizens, which, however, are not less important and are often reflected in the factual zoning of the territory or the application of restrictive measures. However, any boundaries have their own functions, and their role is far from being exclusively negative. Understanding the internal logic of their creation contributes to the more harmonious interaction of the community within these borders.

У статті проведено аналіз етнокультурної та етногенетичної проблематики у наукових працях В. Барана, опублікованих ним у 1955–1991 рр. З’ясовано, що у тоталітарну добу гуманітарна наука перебувала під потужним контролем комуністичної влади, яка вимагала від радянських вчених сповідувати марксизм-ленінізм, виконувати всі завдання режиму й не відхилятися від ідеологічної матриці, це стосувалося дотримування ними теорії стадіального розвитку людства, існування у Давній Русі так званої давньоруської народності тощо. Показано, що етногенез слов’ян та їх етнокультурний розвиток перебували серед пріоритетних напрямків радянської археології, тому В. Баран зі своїми слов’янознавчими зацікавленнями був постійно задіяний, але попри ідеологічний тиск уникав зайвої кон’юнктури і надавав перевагу виваженій дослідницькій праці, це стосувалося як дещо заполітизованої черняхівської проблематики зокрема, так і слов’янського етногенезу загалом. З’ясовано, що науковцю не завжди вдавалося втримати незалежну позицію, тому він змушений був підтримувати концепт існування єдиної давньоруської народності. Так, у деяких своїх текстах, але саме в тих, які набули найбільшого суспільного розголосу, зокрема у колективній монографії «Славяне Юго-Восточной Европы в предгосударственный период», В. Баран обстоював існування давньоруської народності у часи функціонування першої східнослов’янської держави – Давньої Русі. Доведено, що В. Барану, фундатору Київської наукової школи славістів, та його колегам-однодумцям вдалося створити власну, якісно нову концепцію слов’янського етногенезу, засадничим підґрунтям якої було положення про автохтонність слов’янства між Дніпром і Одрою. Встановлено, що в результаті складних етнокультурних, соціальних і етнополітичних процесів, у яких були залучені низка культур і культурних груп Південно-Східної і Центральної Європи І–IV ст., наприкінці IV–V ст. твориться ранньосередньовічна празько-корчацька культура., The article analyzes the ethnocultural and ethnogenetic issues in the works of V. Baran, published by him in 1955–1991. It was found that during the totalitarian era, humanitarian science was under the powerful control of communist power, which required from the Soviet scientists to profess Marxism-Leninism and fulfil the tasks of the regime without deviating from the ideological matrix. This also concerned the observance of the theory which stipulated the stadial development of the mankind, the existence of the so-called ancient Rus nationality, etc. It is shown that the ethnogeny of Slavs and their ethnocultural development were among the priority directions of Soviet archaeology; therefore, V. Baran, with his interests in Slavs, was constantly involved in the research, but despite ideological pressure, avoided unnecessary conjuncture in favour of a well-considered scientific work. This referred to as somewhat politicized Cherniakhiv problems so Slavic ethnogeny in general. It is established that the scientist did not always manage to maintain his independent position; thus, he was forced to support the concept of the existence of the unified Ancient Rus nationality. In some of his texts, particularly in those that had gained the greatest publicity (namely, the collective monograph “Slavs of the Southeastern Europe in the Pre-State Period”), V. Baran advocated the existence of the Ancient Rus nationality at the time of the first Eastern Slavic state – Ancient Rus. It is proved that V. Baran, the founder of the Kyiv School of Slavonic Studies, together with his adhering colleagues, managed to create his own, qualitatively new concept of Slavic ethnogeny, grounded on the idea of the autochthony of the Slavs between the Dnieper and Odra. It is established that as a result of complex ethnocultural, social and ethnopolitical processes, which involved a number of cultures and cultural groups of Southeastern and Central Europe in the 1st–4th centuries, and at the end of the 4th and 5th centuries, the early medieval Prague-Korchak culture was created.

У статті на прикладі семантичного гнізда «вода», «ріка» розглянуто перспективи гідронімних досліджень Східної Європи у контексті залучення мовної, культурної, епічної, міфологічної, історичної традицій індоіранських (арійських) народів. Теза про східноєвропейську батьківщину індоіранських народів, що здобуває все більшої підтримки у сучасній історичній науці, закономірно вимагає комплексної верифікації конкретним ономастичним матеріалом. У цьому розумінні висновки гідронімних досліджень з огляду на джерельну специфіку цієї ономастичної категорії слід вважати одним із вирішальних аргументів у контексті переконливого розв’язання «індоєвропейської проблеми», відтворення ранньої історії індоіранських народів, реконструкції етнокультурних процесів у Східній Європі у давню добу. Розглянутий у статті матеріал незаперечно засвідчує факт відбиття у гідронімії Східної Європи низки індоіранських й ‒ вужче ‒ індоарійських термінів на позначення води, ріки ‒ ap (apsu), danu, sindhu, jala, pani, uda (udra), nadi, vār, ambu, dub, nar та ін., що, виходячи з семантичної типології гідронімних найменувань, дає підстави вважати цю частину гідронімікону одним із найбільш архаїчних шарів східноєвропейської гідронімії, що сходить у своїх витоках до періоду індоєвропейської мовно-культурної спільності. Ця обставина, своєю чергою, обумовлює методологічну потребу перегляду традиційної концепції паніранізму у підходах до тлумачення східноєвропейської (зокрема скіфсько-сарматської) ономастики у бік ширших індоіранських (арійських) інтерпретацій, розширює перспективу тлумачення східно­європейської гідронімії за рахунок індоарійської мовно-культурної традиції, спростовує низку необґрунтованих етимологій вітчизняної ономастики, пропонує нові, переконливіші тлумачення численних східноєвропейських гідронімів. Автор вважає, що подальші ономастичні дослідження у царині східноєвропейської гідронімії (зокрема, розгляд її крізь призму інших семантичних гнізд) додатково обґрунтують таку наукову позицію., The article examines the prospects of hydronymic research in Eastern Europe in the context of linguistic, cultural, epic, mythological, and historical traditions of the Indo-Iranian (Aryan) people, using the example of the semantic family of words “water”, “river”. The thesis about the East European homeland of the Indo-Iranian peoples, gaining ever greater support in modern historical science, naturally requires comprehensive verification by a specific onomastic material. In this sense, the conclusions of hydronymic research, taking into account the source specifics of this onomastic category, should be considered among the decisive arguments for a convincing solution to the “Indo-European problem”, the reproduction of the early history of Indo-Iranian peoples, and the reconstruction of ethnocultural processes in Eastern Europe in the old days. The data considered in the article undoubtedly confirm the presence of a number of Indo-Iranian and, more narrowly, Indo-Aryan terms for the designation of water and river in the hydronymy of Eastern Europe, that is ap (apsu), danu, sindhu, jala, pani, uda (udra), nadi, vār, ambu, dub, nar, etc. This fact, based on the semantic typology of hydronymic names, gives grounds to consider this part of the hydronymicon one of the most archaic layers of the Eastern European hydronymy that dates back to the period of the Indo-European linguistic and cultural community. This, in turn, causes the methodological need for revising the traditional concept of pan-Iranism in the approaches to the interpretation of Eastern European (in particular, Scythian-Sarmatian) onomastics toward wider Indo-Iranian (Aryan) interpretations; extends the prospects of interpreting Eastern European hydronymics at the expense of the Indo-Aryan language and cultural tradition; refutes a series of unreasonable etymologies of domestic onomastics, offering instead new, more convincing interpretations of numerous East European water names. The author believes that further onomastic studies in the field of East European hydronymy (in particular, its consideration through the prism of other semantic families), will additionally substantiate such a scientific position.

The article is devoted to the problem of study of the main forms of transmission and adoption of the Crimean Tatar traditional culture by next generations. As the methodological framework, the author has chosen the concept of N. Havryliuk, who proposed to use ethnolinguistic analysis for the study of the processes of ethnic transmission. In the study of transfer of the collective memory, the method of allocating verbal dominants, which determine the peculiarities and nature of cultural transmission, is used. The article is based on the field research conducted in 2010–2011 in Crimea. In the twentieth century, Crimean Tatars underwent forced deportation and repressions on ethnic grounds. These traumatic events affected the mechanisms of the cultural transmission. Some elements of ethnic traditions were forgotten, while others, on the contrary, were actualized and played an important role in the process of group consolidation. On the basis of narrative analysis, several dominant motifs of transmitting elements of traditional culture were singled out. From the analysis of narrative material it is clear that the traditional forms of inheritance of ethnic memory by the vertical transmission from the older generation to the younger are common among Crimean Tatars and ritualized in daily practices. Also, there are translational mechanisms typical of the communities in post-industrial era, when part of the fragmentary information is forgotten, and the rest is deliberately resuscitated and restored. За методологічну основу було взяте дослідження Н. Гаврилюк, яка запропонувала використання етнолінгвістичного аналізу для вивчення процесів етнічної трансмісії. Для дослідження способів передачі колективної пам’яті використовується метод виділення вербальних домінант, які і визначають особливості та характер культурної трансмісії. Дослідження базується на польових дослідженнях, проведених у 2010−2011 роках у Криму. Кримські татари в ХХ столітті зазнали примусової депортації та репресій за етнічними ознаками. Ці травматичні події вплинули на усталені механізми трансмісії ознак культури. Окремі елементи етнічних традицій забувалися, в той час як інші, навпаки, актуалізувалися та відігравали важливу роль у процесах групової консолідації. На основі аналізу усного наративу було виділено кілька домінуючих мотивів трансмісії елементів традиційної культури кримських татар. З аналізу наративного матеріалу видно, що для кримських татар властиві традиційні форми спадкування етнічної пам’яті шляхом вертикальної трансмісії від старшого покоління молодшому через щоденні ритуалізовані практики. Також часто зустрічаються трансляційні механізми, властиві в цілому для постіндустріальної доби, коли частина фрагментарної інформації забувається, а інша частина свідомо реанімується та відновлюється. На окрему увагу заслуговує мотив усвідомленого відродження та відновлення пам’яті. Така актуалізація етнічних традицій є важливим фактором у процесах формування групової ідентичності та усвідомлення себе як окремої спільноти.

The article presents an analysis of ethnopolitical challenges in the national security system of Ukraine, which had led to the annexation of the peninsula, and also defines political and legal mechanisms for providing ethnopolitical security for conserving territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the struggle for de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea. It is determined that since the 1990s, scientists focused their attention on ethnopolitical destabilizing factors in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in particular the constant support by Russia of the Russian community of the peninsula; lobbying the idea of the “Russian World” and “genuinely Russian Crimea”; the insufficient support by Ukraine of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities, who could have opposed separatist threats. Thus, Russian ethnocultural environment did not only avoid scaling back in the years since the Soviet era but also dominated in the ethnopolitical space of Crimea. In turn, after returning to the territory, Crimean Tatars, unsatisfied with such a situation, demanded from the Ukrainian state the full vindication of their rights, including ethnocultural and property ones. Ethnocultural problems of the peninsula’s Ukrainian community were constantly ignored on the part of the authorities as in Crimea so in the official Kyiv, which contributed to the partial assimilation of the Ukrainians. To some extent, the demands of the ethnically politicized Russian majority in the peninsula were balanced by the growing ethnocultural and ethnopolitical demands of the Crimean Tatar minorities. Thus, it was possible to keep the peninsula ethnopolitically stable for many years by suspending the ethnopolitical conflict between the key ethnic communities. The article considers the problem of determining the legal status of Crimean Tatar people as the indigenous people of Ukraine in the context of the state ethnonational policy of Ukraine. It studies the contemporary state of the legal framework as for the regulation of the Crimean Tatar question and the legal status of the AR of Crimea., У статті зроблено аналіз етнополітичних викликів в системі національної безпеки України, що призвели до анексії півострова, політико-правові механізми забезпечення етнополітичної безпеки щодо збереження територіальної цілісності й суверенітету України в боротьбі за деокупацію та реінтеграцію Криму. З’ясовано, що, починаючи з 90-х років ХХ ст., науковці акцентували увагу на етнополітичних дестабілізаційних факторах в Автономній Республіці Крим, зокрема, на постійну підтримку Росією російської громади півострова, лобіювання ідеї «руського мира» та «исконно русcкого Крыма» і недостатню підтримку Україною української та кримськотатарської громад, які здатні були б протистояти сепаратистським загрозам. Тому російське етнокультурне середовище не лише фактично не зазнало згортання з часів радянської епохи, але й було домінуючим в етнополітичному просторі Криму. В свою чергу після повернення на територію півострова кримські татари, незадоволені такою ситуацією, вимагали від української держави повної реабілітації своїх прав, у тому числі етнокультурних та майнових. Етнокультурні проблеми української громади півострова постійно ігнорувались з боку владних структур як Криму, так і офіційного Києва, що сприяло частковій асиміляції українців. Певною мірою вимоги етнічно політизованої російської більшості на півострові були збалансовані зростаючими етнокультурними та етнополітичними вимогами кримськотатарської меншини. Саме тому протягом багатьох років незалежності вдалося зберегти етнополітичну стабільність на півострові, перенісши етнополітичний конфлікт між основними етнічними громадами в латентний стан.Розглядається проблема визначення правового статусу кримськотатарського народу як корінного народу України в контексті державної етнонаціональної політики України. Досліджено сучасний стан законодавчої бази щодо регулювання кримськотатарського питання та правового статусу АР Крим.

The article analyzes the ethnocultural and ethnogenetic issues in the scientific works of V. Baran, published by him in 1991–2017. It is discovered that the destruction of the USSR and the existence of sovereign Ukraine freed the scientists from the totalitarian ideological pressure, allowed them investigating any scientific problems and obtaining unbiased conclusions. It is substantiated that the development of the Ukrainian state and its political, economic, cultural, military, educational, scientific, and other spheres was accompanied by a number of objective and subjective problems, in particular underfunding and shifting state priorities. All those post-Soviet realities, on the one hand, threw science and scientists back to the margins of sociopolitical life at the turn of the millennium, while on the other, compelled them to make non-standard decisions that eventually favored the development of Ukrainian humanities. Given such circumstances, V. Baran began fruitful cooperation with the Institute of Ukrainian Studies of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv (in 2000 transformed into the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Center for Ukrainian Studies of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), as well as with other scientific institutions. This resulted in the scholar’s refusal to support the ideologized concept of the so-called Old Rus people and the creation of his own vision of the Ukrainian ethnogenetic process. It is proved that, as a result of more than a quarter-century scientific work in the conditions of the Ukrainian state, V. Baran formed a unique ethnogenetic theory of the origin of Slavs and creatively substantiated and developed the early-medieval conception of the origin of the Ukrainian people founded by M. Hrushevsky. It has been revealed that, freed from the Soviet ideological bias, V. Baran’s ethnogenetic and ethnocultural studies in the post-Soviet Ukraine became complete and acquired the systematic comprehension; due to this, they became a solid and reliable foundation for constructing the author’s models of Slavic and Ukrainian ethnogenesis., У статті проведено аналіз етнокультурної та етногенетичної проблематики у наукових працях В. Барана, опублікованих ним у 1991–2017 рр. Виявлено, що руйнація СРСР й існування суверенної України позбавили науковців тоталітарного ідеологічного тиску і дали можливість їм досліджувати будь-які наукові проблеми й отримувати незаангажовані висновки. Обґрунтовано, що розбудова Української держави, її політичної, економічної, культурної, військової, освітньої, наукової та інших сфер супроводжувалася низкою об’єктивних і суб’єктивних проблем, зокрема недофінансуванням і зміною державницьких пріоритетів, всі ці пострадянські реалії, з одного боку, відкидали науку й науковців на маргінес суспільно-політичного життя на зламі тисячоліть, з іншого – змушували їх приймати нестандартні рішення, які в підсумку сприяли позитивній динаміці розвитку української гуманітаристики. Показано, що, враховуючи ці обставини, В. Баран розпочав плідну співпрацю з Інститутом українознавства Київського університету імені Тараса Шевченка (який у 2000 р. трансформувався у Науково-дослідний інститут українознавства Міністерства освіти і науки України і Центр українознавства Київського національного університету імені Тараса Шевченка) та з іншими науковими інституціями, наслідком якої стали відмова вченого від підтримки ним заідеологізованого концепту про так звану давньоруську народність та формування власного бачення українського етногенетичного процесу. Доведено, що внаслідок понад чвертьстолітньої наукової праці в умовах Української держави В. Баран створив унікальну етногенетичну теорію походження слов’ян та творчо обґрунтував і розвинув започатковану ще М. Грушевським ранньосередньовічну концепцію походження українського народу. Виявлено, що етногенетичні й етнокультурні студії В. Барана у пострадянській Україні, позбавлені радянської заідеологізованості й зашореності, набули довершеності й системності осмислення, завдячуючи цьому, вони стали міцним і надійним підґрунтям для побудови авторських моделей слов’янського й українського етногенезу.

The article deals with the balcony as a borderland between private and public everyday life of post-Soviet cities’ inhabitants in the legal perspective. For finding out the differences between usual practices of balconies arrangement and current legislation, an analysis of numerous legal documents related to urban development activities was conducted. In particular, a number of important documents, such as valid state building regulations, the Instruction on the procedure for conducting a technical inventory of real estate objects, the Rules for the maintenance of residential buildings and adjoining territories, etc., were analyzed. Also, the research includes the results of processing media materials and the Unified State Register of court decisions. As a result of the study, it was found that current norms allow glazing of balconies and loggias if this is not related to the reconstruction of the dwelling, does not contradict the rules of fire safety, and does not interfere with insolation and ventilation. However, nowadays the legislation prohibits complex reconstruction of the house’s façade with typical glazing of all summer premises. At the same time, after the reconstruction, residents of all apartments have the right to make glazing of their balcony or loggia. Along with that, such a practice only modulates chaotic glazing and in no way contributes to the safety and comfort of living in multi-apartment buildings. There are a lot of similar paradoxical legal situations in the everyday lives of Ukrainian townspeople. In addition, excessively restrictive norms do not contribute to the integrity of their observance, while some of the current rules are obsolete and impede the dynamic transformation of urban development. City dwellers have formed their own norms of the balconies’ glazing and rebuilding. Such practices became possible due to the economic instability and weakness of state control bodies (in particular, through corruption schemes). As a result, every year Ukrainian cities look even more bizarre, while practices of parasitic architecture create a new cultural landscape of the Ukrainian urban environment., У статті розглядається балкон як пограничний простір між приватною і публічною сферами щоденного життя мешканців пострадянських міст. Задля означення того, наскільки реальні практики населення у сфері облаштування літніх приміщень різняться з унормованими чинним законодавством, було проведено аналіз численних юридичних документів, що стосуються містобудівної діяльності. Зокрема, було вивчено масив чинних державних будівельних норм, Інструкцію про порядок проведення технічної інвентаризації об’єктів нерухомого майна, Правила утримання жилих будинків та прибудинкових територій тощо. Також було додано результати опрацювання матеріалів ЗМІ та Єдиного державного реєстру судових рішень. У результаті дослідження виявлено, що чинні норми дозволяють склити балкони та лоджії, якщо це не пов’язано з перебудовою помешкання, не суперечить правилам пожежної безпеки та не перешкоджає доступу сонячного світла та повітря. Проте наразі законодавством заборонено комплексну реконструкцію фасаду будинку, що передбачає типове скління всіх літніх приміщень. При цьому опісля проведення реконструкції мешканець кожної квартири має право здійснити скління свого балкона чи лоджії. Така практика лише унормовує хаотичне скління і жодним чином не сприяє безпеці та комфорту мешканців багатоквартирних будинків. Подібних парадоксальних з юридичної точки зору ситуацій у повсякденному житті мешканців українських міст налічується немало. Переобтяженість суворими нормами не сприяє сумлінності їх дотримання, тоді як окремі з чинних правил морально застаріли і перешкоджають динамічному перетворенню міської забудови. До того ж на фоні економічної нестабільності та слабкості державних контролюючих органів сформувались узвичаєні способи обходу державних будівельних вимог (зокрема, за допомогою корупційних схем) задля оздоблення, скління і перебудування балконів на власний розсуд власників помешкань. У результаті з кожним роком українські міста виглядають ще химерніше, а практики паразитної архітектури творять новий культурний ландшафт українського урбаністичного середовища.

The article touches upon the key problem of the history of Eastern Europe – the historical heritage of princely Kyiv and the state of Rus. It also analyzes the arguments of supporters of the early medieval version of the Ukrainian people’s origin and those of their opponents, who currently sympathize with the historical myth of the late Stalinism period – Old Rus nation being “the cradle of three fraternal peoples”. Late medieval concept of origins of Ukrainians, Russians, and Belarusians is a Soviet version of a very old imperial historical myth. It disagrees with the norms of modern ethnology and was formed after World War II as a typical Soviet ideology structure. In our time, the majority of scientists adhere to the concept of Ukrainians’ genesis in the Early Middle Ages (5th–7th centuries), with M. Hrushevsky as one of its originators. Modern ethnology views peoples as ethnocultural organisms, who are born, pass their life cycle, and disintegrate, mostly in the process of assimilation with other peoples. Age of ethnos is determined by the continuity of its development on its ethnic lands. Continuity of ethnocultural development on the lands of England, France, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Serbia, Poland, and Ukraine from Early Middle Ages to our time suggests the beginning of national history of the mentioned peoples from the 5th–7th centuries. Having passed the tribal phase of development in Early Middle Ages (5th–9th c.), the mentioned nations of Europe created their first states. At the same time, the state of Kyivan Rus aroused, which consolidated Slavs of Southern Rus in the single ethnos of Ruthenians (ancient Ukrainians). Ukrainians, as the majority of peoples inhabiting Central Europe (English, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Germans, Poles, Czechs, Serbians, Croats, and others), originated in Early Middle Ages (5th–7th c.) and continuously developed on their ethnic lands to our time., Стаття торкається ключової проблеми історії Східної Європи – історичної спадщини княжого Києва та держави Русь. Аналізуються аргументи прибічників ранньосередньовічної версії походження українського народу та їх супротивників – сучасних симпатиків історичного міфу часів пізнього сталінізму – давньоруської народності як «колиски трьох братніх народів». Пізньосередньовічна концепція походження українців, росіян та білорусів є радянською версією дуже давнього імперського історичного міфу. Він суперечить нормам сучасної етнології і формувався після Другої світової війни як типова радянська ідеологічна конструкція. У наш час найбільш переконливою і популярною серед науковців є концепція походження українців з раннього середньовіччя (V–VІІ ст.). Біля її витоків стояв М. Грушевський. Сучасна етнологія розглядає народи як етнокультурні організми, які народжуються, проходять свій життєвий цикл і дезінтегруються переважно шляхом асиміляції іншими народами. Вік етносів визначається неперервністю етнокультурного розвитку на їхніх етнічних землях. Неперервність розвитку на землях Англії, Франції, Іспанії, Німеччини, Чехії, Сербії, Польщі та України з раннього середньовіччя до нашого часу дає підстави починати національну історію згаданих народів з V–VІІ ст. Пройшовши племінну фазу розвитку у ранньому середньовіччі (V–ІХ ст.), згадані народи Європи створили свої перші держави. Саме в цей час постала держава Київська Русь, яка консолідувала слов’янські племена Південної Русі в єдиний етнос руських-рутенів (стародавніх українців). Українці, як і переважна більшість народів середньої смуги Європи (англійці, французи, іспанці, німці, поляки, чехи, серби, хорвати та ін.), родом з раннього середньовіччя (V–VII ст.) і продовжують розвиватися на своїх етнічних землях до нашого часу.
