Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a promising technology for low–temperature heat sources to generate electricity. In this study, we investigated numerically the flue gas of a 350 MW steam power plant extracted for heating the pressurized hot water, which is the heat source (HS) of ORC. The potential heat recovery is calculated based on the flow rate and the acid dew point temperature of the flue gas. To obtain the maximum extracted heat recovery, four models of ORC are applied for the calculation. Under the 50% turbine maximum continues rating (TMCR), the minimum available heat recovery from the flue gas is approximately 10.825 MWth when its temperature is lowered from 157 °C to 120 °C. The ORC model A–II (HS 150 °C) allows for the extraction of the maximum flow rate of flue gas and generates the highest gross power output of 1250 kW. The study on techno–economics is suggested for the next step because the power consumption of fans and pumps in this heat recovery system increases with an increase in the amount of extracted flue gas and the complexity of the hot water pipe system (heat source supplied system for ORCs), respectively. Some of the characteristics of energy sources are renewable but it takes a long time to renew them, but there are also energy sources that cannot be renewed so alternative energy is needed to support energy needs. To support sustainable renewable energy, energy originating from direct sunlight will provide an alternative energy source. In this study, the predicted value of direct normal irradiation was determined by considering three factors: air temperature, air humidity, and duration of sunlight with the RMSE value is 0.212369 where in this case the data from each estimate has a high accuracy value. By predicting the value of direct normal irradiation, it is hoped that it will provide an overview of the energy results that will be produced in the next period. In the modeling simulation, the results obtained from direct normal irradiation predictions using regression analysis have a small error rate with the actual values. The development of this research, in determining the prediction model can add other variables or approach other forecasting methods to increase the richness of the literature so that this topic is studied by many researchers so that there are many solutions to maintain the sustainability of energy sources. The Indonesian government is encouraging a co-firing system by adding biomass fuel for steam power plants. This strategy is motivated by coal supplies which continue to decrease over the time. This situation is encountered by utilization of biomass energy to produce solid fuels such as briquettes or pellets with energy equivalent to coal. Another main consideration is that the source of biomass should be sustainable without any conflict with food security. One of sources of accessible, sustainable, and non-edible biomass is the king grass plant. This plant can grow in marginal areas with a relatively short growth period. The main challenge in using this biomass lies in its low energy density. Therefore, it is necessary to develop technology to improve the properties of the solid fuel produced from king grass biomass. In the last few decades, torrefaction at low temperatures has been widely used since this technology effectively improves the biomass properties. The main objective of the torrefaction process is to increase the calorific value and reduce the water content. Prior to torrefaction process, the feedstock was washed and soaked with tap water for 20 h to reduce the ash content. During torrefaction process, biomass was heated in a non-oxidative environment at temperatures below 300°C. Resulting biochar was then ground, sieved and mixed with starch binder at 5 wt% and 10 wt%. Briquette characterization were performed under several techniques including bomb calorimetry, proximate, density, dropped-test and relaxation analyses. The results showed that the highest calorific value was 4648 kcal/kg obtained from TKG60m5b sample. Proximate test results showed that the ash content decreased by up to 11% after the washing process. Overall, the washing and torrefaction processes applied to the king grass biomass caused significant improvement in term of caloric value, ash content, friability and density. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wind power is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. In 2020 there was a record growth in the commissioning of new wind turbine capacities up to 93 GW [1]. Under these conditions, the problem of studying the interaction of wind turbines with the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) is becoming increasingly relevant. In this paper, on the basis of mathematical modeling and computational experiment, the authors consider the processes in the boundary layer of the atmosphere in the wind farm area, the features of the aerodynamic wakes of wind turbines, the issues of wind energy losses, turbulence. A series of methodical calculations was carried out with varying meshes, and the effect of mesh parameters on the results was analyzed. The identified characteristic features of the interaction between ABL and wind turbines are of great importance for optimizing the placement of wind turbines, as well as for the operation of existing wind farms in terms of maximizing the generation of useful power and reducing mechanical loads on wind turbine elements. The paper presents the outcomes of research conducted in the field of marine engine diagnostics. A set up of the encoder and a program product are utilised to establish a system for sensing deviations in the engine's rotational speed, which in turn are then linked to the deviations in the engine processes subject to continuous monitoring. This approach, thus, addresses the traditional problem with the early detection of the engine performance deviations in the initial stages of development. This scientific article presents the results of measurements of the parameters of wind energy resources from 2013 to 2020, to compile a wind energy inventory for the city of Dashoguz (Turkmenistan), geographical coordinates 41°49′00″ N. w. 59°58′15″ E. etc., and for a height of 100 meters the following wind parameters were determined: average speed (more than 6 m/s), daily variability of wind speed (from 3 to 12.68 m/s), frequency interval of wind speed (mainly wind speed 3 m /from 1850 hours), the direction of the wind in which it blows (northeast–24.83%); of course, specific power (274.22 W/m2) and technical potential (4344.08 MW hour/km2). The results obtained show that the city of Dashoguz has large wind energy resources, and has every opportunity to operate wind power plants in parallel with traditional stations, which in turn will help manage load peaks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Installing a hydrogen energy complex at nuclear power plants is a well-known approach to solving the problem of providing nuclear power units with a base load under conditions of uneven energy consumption. A method has been proposed to reduce the underburning of hydrogen fuel to almost completely eliminate the entry of unburned hydrogen into the steam power cycle of a nuclear power plant unit. The work has developed a formula and determined the level of reduction in probable damage from explosions and fires at the hydrogen energy complex when implementing measures to reduce underburning. The calculations were carried out using the example of an autonomous hydrogen energy complex previously developed by the authors. The following results were obtained: the reduction in possible damage from explosions and fires is 1.61, 4.03 and 6.46 thousand $ with 20, 50 and 80% damage to the equipment of the hydrogen energy complex, respectively. Taking into account the possible increase in the cost of hydrogen energy complex equipment by 40%, this effect increases to 2.26, 5.65 and 9.04 thousand $, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hydro power plants are built on existing reiver, canals, etc on small-scale. Indian government had revised their policies for the betterment of small hydro power plants by involving private sector. As the need of the hour few other new policies were made in which emphasize was on the stable power supply. After checking all the possible conditions and looking into all other aspect government decided to build a pumped storage plant at ghatghar. The main part of the Ghatghar Pumped storage plant is the dam built with RCC technology having a capacity of 250 MW. The key for fast, efficient, economic, and high quality way of construction of dams of any size and numbers is RCC.
