The surface of nano silica was modified with anhydrous ethanol as dispersant, nano silica as silicon source and silane coupling agent KH-550 as surface modifier.The molecular structure, particle size distribution and microscopic morphology of the modified nano silica were characterized by Fourier infrared spectroscopy, particle size analyzer and transmission electron microscopy.The results showed that the number of hydroxyl groups on the surface of the modified nano silica decreased, and the agglomeration phenomenon decreased.The particle size distribution in water ranged from 70 nm to 80 nm.The results showed that when the solid-liquid ratio of the nano silica to the modifier was 1∶5 g/mL,the modification time was 3 h, the modification temperature is 70 ℃.Under this condition, the lipophilicity value of the modified nano silica is 41.2%,and the dispersion of the modified nano silica in water is improved.
