Today's organizations face complex expectations for energy savings. Many papers address aspects of how energy efficiency can be improved, but dominated by a technical perspective. The minority of studies picked up organizational aspect of energy management. This paper proposes an energy management expert system EMEXS in form of a computer application, based on the maturity model known in the literature, as one specific energy strategy model with innovative focus, based on contemporary trends which suggest the implementation of information and communication technology. The paper describes EMEXS system and its implementation challenges and opportunities. Also, the paper proposes some directions for future testing and measuring effects of applying.

The publication presents the "Okopaczaj" application which is aimed to promote health by increasing the awareness about the structure and the consequences of the diseases of the eyesight organ. The first part of the article focuses on the factors which affected creating the application and its general construction. The second part describes the tools of Godot, Blender and Photoshop which were used in the process of creating particular parts of the application. The third part presents the modes that are available in the "Okopaczaj" application as well as their functioning and available functions. This paper presents a methodology and mobile application for driver monitoring, analysis, and recommendations based on detected unsafe driving behavior for accident prevention using a personal smartphone. For the driver behavior monitoring, the smartphone’s cameras and built-in sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, and microphone) are used. A developed methodology includes dangerous state classification, dangerous state detection, and a reference model. The methodology supports the following driver’s online dangerous states: distraction and drowsiness as well as an offline dangerous state related to a high pulse rate. The paper indicates the significance of the problem of foundry processes parameters stability supervision and assessment. The parameters, which can be effectively tracked and analysed using dedicated computer systems for data acquisition and exploration (Acquisition and Data Mining systems, A&D systems) were pointed out. The state of research and methods of solving production problems with the help of computational intelligence systems (Computational Intelligence, CI) were characterised. The research part shows capabilities of an original A&DM system in the aspect of selected analyses of recorded data for cast defects (effect) forecast on the example of a chosen iron foundry. Implementation tests and analyses were performed based on selected assortments for grey and nodular cast iron grades (castings with 50 kg maximum weight, casting on automatic moulding lines for disposable green sand moulds). Validation tests results, applied methods and algorithms (the original system's operation in real production conditions) confirmed the effectiveness of the assumptions and application of the methods described. Usability, as well as benefits of using A&DM systems in foundries are measurable and lead to stabilisation of production conditions in particular sections included in the area of use of these systems, and as a result to improvement of casting quality and reduction of defect number. A significant development of the foundry industry contributes to the creation of high reliability and operational strength castings so that they meet specific standards in accordance with customers' needs. This technology, however, is inseparably connected with casting defects in finished products. Cast products are subject to various defects which are considered acceptable or not, which is conditioned by the alloy chemical composition and strength characteristics, that is, generally - qualities to be agreed between the foundry and the customer. It is the latter that led the authors to research on designing a tool enabling the most reliable possible assessment of the emerging casting defects, which after proper consultations can be repaired and the casting - sold. The paper presents an original tool named the Open Atlas of Defects (OAD), developed for the last few years to support the evaluation of cast iron defects using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) casting defects analysis tools (DCC card - Demerit Control Chart, Pareto-Lorenz analysis and ABC analysis). The OAD tool structure was presented as an integral part of the original system module for acquisition and data mining (A&DM) in conjunction with the possibilities of using selected tools for defect analysis support on the example of cast iron casting. New and emerging non-invasive digital tools, such as eye-tracking, facial expression and physiological biometrics, have been implemented to extract more objective sensory responses by panelists from packaging and, specifically, labels. However, integrating these technologies from different company providers and software for data acquisition and analysis makes their practical application difficult for research and the industry. This study proposed a prototype integration between eye tracking and emotional biometrics using the BioSensory computer application for three sample labels: Stevia, Potato chips, and Spaghetti. Multivariate data analyses are presented, showing the integrative analysis approach of the proposed prototype system. Further studies can be conducted with this system and integrating other biometrics available, such as physiological response with heart rate, blood, pressure, and temperature changes analyzed while focusing on different label components or packaging features. By maximizing data extraction from various components of packaging and labels, smart predictive systems can also be implemented, such as machine learning to assess liking and other parameters of interest from the whole package and specific components.

The paper will present the experience of the Central Institute for Labour Protection - National Research Institute in the range of its cooperation with enterprises, based on the networking structures in Poland. For enabling of introducing and dissemination of technical and organisational solutions for improvement of working conditions in polish enterprises, computer application will be made, which - in authors intention - will be complete database of products and good practices for use in any enterprise. Research (made in 2014) of S2B activity and needs of enterprises in the area of occupational safety and health (OSH) was the base of this application. Results of these research as well as concept of application operation will be presented in the paper. Suggested ways of stimulation to activity of enterprises in the OSH area will be also presented.

The paper presents an example of Instance-Based Learning using a supervised classification method of predicting selected ductile cast iron castings defects. The test used the algorithm of k-nearest neighbours, which was implemented in the authors' computer application. To ensure its proper work it is necessary to have historical data of casting parameter values registered during casting processes in a foundry (mould sand, pouring process, chemical composition) as well as the percentage share of defective castings (unrepairable casting defects). The result of an algorithm is a report with five most possible scenarios in terms of occurrence of a cast iron casting defects and their quantity and occurrence percentage in the casts series. During the algorithm testing, weights were adjusted for independent variables involved in the dependent variables learning process. The algorithms used to process numerous data sets should be characterized by high efficiency, which should be a priority when designing applications to be implemented in industry. As it turns out in the presented mathematical instance-based learning, the best quality of fit occurs for specific values of accepted weights (set #5) for number k = 5 nearest neighbours and taking into account the search criterion according to "product index". This paper presents the results of experiments aimed at the application of a confrontation matrix in management of socio-technical systems. It also presents the results of the research focused on seeking new opportunities of the theory systems, system applications and specific methods in work of specialist teams. It shows one of the output - innovative application of confrontation matrix. This application is suitable for use in a company sphere to select a strategy, and also for the management of internal and external company relations. Introduction: The search for more effective forms of management is one of the main problems that organizations face. Nowadays sustainability is used as a reference in business management, as it promotes not only the increase in profits, but also the practice of social, environmental and ethical business policies. Objective: Develop a computer tool that provides support to the calculation and evaluation of the sustainable behavior of an organization, as a support to the decision making process. Methods: The methods implemented in the SOFTAINABILITY computer system for making decisions were: the Process of Analytical Hierarchy, the Analysis of Modes, Faults, Effects and Criticality and the Integral Indicators that made possible the construction of the analytical hierarchy composed of dimensions, critical factors of success and indicators. Results: A Computer System was develop based on a methodology for assessing the level of sustainability of organizations, taking into account standards, systems and indicators proposed by international institutions. Conclusions: The construction of the analytical hierarchy composed of dimensions, Critical Success Factors and indicators, through the integration of the methods implemented, led to the modeling of a complex problem that is solved by the SOFTAINABILITY computer tool. When solving multi-objective flexible Job-Shop scheduling problem, the traditional optimization algorithms were often inefficient and difficult to obtain the optimal solution. In order to solve the multi-objective flexible Job-Shop scheduling problem, this paper designed a hybrid artificial bee colony algorithm. The method in population initialization phase was combination of several strategies. Different search mechanisms were employed at different stages of the artificial bee colony algorithm; adopted the traditional exploit search in the employed bee phase, and updated objects of bees following with little range in onlooker bee phase. The combination of tabu search and improved artificial bee colony algorithm effectively improved the probability of obtaining the optimal solution. The paper tested hybrid artificial bee colony algorithm through the Kacem instances. The results show that the hybrid artificial bee colony algorithm is efficient in solving flexible Job-Shop scheduling problem. This article presents computer programs targeted for geotechnical engineering students, which are developed to work with sieve analysis and Standard Penetration Test (SPT) that calculate certain soil parameters. Sieve analysis is a fundamental step in almost all geotechnical engineering experiments including the SPT. The process after sieve analysis requires one to process large amounts of data. The computer programs presented in this paper, which are designed to be practical geotechnical engineering tools, helps to minimize errors in this process, and aids in understanding the application of correlation formulas of SPT. Nowadays, since most of the foods are highly processed, knowing their nutrition value and the human's daily needs are important to any person in order to maintain a healthy life. The paper present, in the first part, the architecture, the comprising categories, the advantages and disadvantages of two web applications that compute the nutrition value of food and the human's daily needs, i.e. SELFNutritionData application and Nutrition Value application. Based on their disadvantages, in the second part of the paper, the Food Nutrition Value and Daily Needs (FNVDN) application was developed. It integrates the computing of both nutrition value of food and human's daily needs. This application is easy and intuitive to use, and it is highly adaptive to the changes made in its databases. We have developed a False-Belief (FB) understanding task for use on a computer tablet, trying to assess FB understanding in a less social way. It is based on classical FB protocols, and additionally includes a manipulation of language in an attempt to explore the facilitating effect of linguistic support during FB processing. Specifically, the FB task was presented in three auditory conditions: narrative, silent, and interference. The task was assumed to shed new light on the FB difficulties often observed in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sixty-eight children with ASD (M = 7.5 years) and an age matched comparison group with 98 typically developing (TD) children were assessed with the FB task. The children with ASD did not perform above chance level in any condition, and significant differences in success rates were found between the groups in two conditions (silent and narrative), with TD children performing better. The following article proposes a modern computer application MOT (Membrane Optimization Tool) for modeling of gas transport processes through mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs). The current version of the application is based on the Maxwell model, which can be successfully used to model gas transport through the simplest types of hybrid membranes without any defects. The application has been verified on the example of four types of hybrid membranes, consisting of various types of polymer matrix, such as: poly (vinyl acetate), 2, 2′-BAPB + BPADA, Ultem, hyperbranched polyimide (ODPA-MTA) and zeolite 4A. The average absolute relative error (AARE) and root-mean-square error (RMSE) were calculated in order to compare the theoretical MOT-predicted results with the experimental results. It was found that the AARE ranges from 29% to 36%, while the RMSE is in the range of 10% to 29%. The article presents also the comparison of MOT-predicted data obtained with Maxwell and Bruggeman models. To obtain more accurate reproduction of experimental results, further versions of the proposed application will be extended with next-generation permeation models (Lewis–Nielsen, Pal, modified Maxwell or Felske models), allowing for the description of transport in more complex systems with the possibility of taking into account possible defects. In view of the problem that the existing RFID based roadmap (LANDMARC) indoor positioning system will lead to the loss of good adjacent reference labels and the introduction of bad reference labels due to external environment factors, a RFID location algorithm based on reference label is proposed. Several reference labels are taken as a whole to compare the value of Receive Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) to the location label. First, find the area range of the location label, and add some reference labels in this area, and finally determine the position coordinates of the fixed label by adding weight estimation. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm has better stability and anti-interference without increasing the cost of any hardware, and can effectively obtain a good reference label, thus obtaining satisfactory positioning accuracy and positioning performance. There is important theoretical and practical significance to study the change of coastline. Currently, in order to complete coastline analysis work* it is short of the automatic and accurate algorithms which can construct and mark all the changed areas including erosional and increasing types between two period coastlines. We consider that all the coastlines distributed in the two periods have directions which are determined by the order of the points on the coastline, and don't intersect with themselves. Coastlines can only intersect with the ones in the other period which have different direction and will be cut into some polylines. By summarizing the distribution rules of polylines on the boundary of the changed area with different type, we get a number of conclusions and put forward the algorithm which can construct changed areas between two period coastlines automatically and mark them with different type exactly. The coastline polylines constituting edges of changed area always a-rise a period next to another which has the same start or end point. Removing all the polylines constituting a changed area, it will not affect the others. According to the rules, we can extract the polylines on a changed area's edge and build the area using the points. Judge the type of the changed area by examining the direction of earlier coastline which can he divided into clockwise or anticlockwise. We complete the programming of the function module. Several experiments are designed and implemented with some real coastline data collected in the actual projects. To test the algorithm is reliable or not, we compare the boundary and type of the changed area generated automatically hy the algorithms with fact. And the results show that the method is effective and feasible. By our method, the erosional areas which changed into water from land and the accretion areas which changed into land from water can be constructed exactly and automatically according to two period coastlines. The mining industry faces a number of complex challenges transformed into systems with a huge number of variable data, which require modern computing tools to accurately predict and display them. This paper will present a modern methodology for simulation of truck haulage in mines for underground exploitation. As a case study in this paper is taken the Mine for underground exploitation of lead and zinc "SASA" - M. Kamenica. The methodology is consists of making a computer application for time measuring of the working cycle for the truck haulage which will then be modeled in the software Arena, where it will be simulated in real time. This model, which represents a realistic representation of the truck haulage in the mine, can serve to create new haulage scenarios that can contribute to the improvement of the whole haulage system in the mine.
