- Abstract
Zdrava in uravnotežena prehrana odlocilno vplivata na zdravstveno stanje. V magistrskem delu smo obravnavali zdravo prehrano oseb z motnjami v dusevnem razvoju v socialno varstvenem zavodu dr. Marijana Borstnarja (ZUDV).

- Abstract
Nowadays society is every time more concerned about the environment. This has a clear impact in the industry, now that the consumers require sustainable products and eco-friendly. The use of biopolymers is one of the most promising strategies toward an optimized use of traditional packaging materials (e.g., oil-based plastics) without impairing the goal of extending shelf life. Among other food packaging materials, pullulan is attracting much attention due to its unique features. This thesis aims to prove if pullulan, which is a polysaccharide polymer, eco-friendly, applied as coatings on polyethylene films, improves the functional properties of interest for the food packaging industry and in which concentration gives the highest performance. In this document, you will find the different processes and analysis used to arrive at the conclusion that there is still a path to go through until use pullulan as active packaging, so it is needed to find a pullulan based formula that stabilizes it avoiding the fragility of this coating. These conclusions are based on the results of several analysesexperiments as FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), goniometry, Oxygen barrier test, antimicrobial etc., Outgoing

- Abstract
The objective of all the TRISAT project is that the spacecraft will remain operational for a minimum of two years in a day-night sun synchronous orbit with an altitude of 600 km. The objective of this master thesis is to make a thermal study of the TRISAT satellite. The study is focused in the batteries, the most sensitive part of the satellite to the temperature, trying to find the best solution to make them remain operational during the satellite life, maintaining a good performance. The first part is to find information of the batteries to know the range at which they can work. This research shows us that the batteries can work correctly without losing performance between 0-50ºC. In the second part the different energies that influence the satellite are calculated to finish calculating the temperature of the satellite in different moments of the orbit. Afterwards the zone of the satellite where the batteries are located is studied to know the amount of heat needed to maintain the batteries in acceptable temperatures. In this part it is calculated that adding an insulator between the batteries and the support is useful but also a heater is needed. With all this information a solution for the heating of the batteries is defined., Outgoing

- Abstract
The objective of this final thesis project was to study and test a 3,3V LiFePo4 battery in outer space conditions to be able to determine its working range, its limitations and its problems. To do so a measuring set-up to read and estimate the capacity of a battery was built and programmed. Then the LiFePo4 battery was tested at different temperatures between -20°C and 40°C in a vacuum chamber at a pressure under 100 microbars. The results showed that the battery can still operate properly at temperatures as low as -20°C. However a reduction of the capacity at low temperatures was observed: The battery's capacity at -20°C was 62% lower than the one at 20°C. The battery fully recovered its capacity after returning back to the nominal working range (20°C), and its performance barely changed thorough the whole range of temperatures studied., Outgoing

- Abstract
Projecte realitzat mitjançant programa de mobilitat. UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR, This project aims to prove that is possible to develop Business Intelligence applications by using Google Apps. Instead of parameterize some existing tool, we want to demonstrate that we can build a solution for a concrete corporation according to its needs. For this, we have separated the work in two parts. The first one is based on a studio about which Google code tools and libraries can be useful for this purpose. All the alternatives have been classified, analyzed and exemplified. Also, for concluding the studio, we have explained how we should assemble them in order to obtain a BI system. As a second part, we have implemented an example tool following the steps described on the previous studio, and have also proposed some possible improvements to apply to the original solution. After that work we have demonstrate that we can develop totally functional BI tools using Google Apps. Moreover, these ones will be characterized by its sturdiness, fastness, security and change adaptability. All of that allows us to say that Google Apps is an excellent platform for innovate and develop BI solutions for companies totally adapted to their needs, reducing costs, and giving a new perspective over themselves.

The thesis presents the importance of ergonomics in industry. Enhanced productivity, higher-quality output, lower injury and absence rates, increased job satisfaction, and optimization of places are all strongly correlated with better ergonomics. Ergonomics is often overlooked in favour of other requirements, such as engineering, economics, or place availability. However, the benefits of investing in ergonomics for the business have been thoroughly proved over time, though. Moreover, regulations require a minimum of ergonomic quality in all workplaces. Therefore, the ergonomics should be included in the design phase of any workplace to be considered throughout the process and save redesign costs. On the other hand, it is advisable to analyse the current workplaces to make sure that productions are efficient, and they are compliant as well. The thesis will develop this case. A practical application of the ergonomics improvement in a workstation of a production line is carried out to meet the ergonomic requirements. The current ergonomics are evaluated from a recreation of the workstation in the laboratory. The worker's movement data is collected through a sensor suit of Xsens in a pilot test, and a software simulation is used to recreate the operator in his working environment and analyse his ergonomics. Finally, solutions are proposed to adapt the spaces with minimum investment

In this work, a design improvement of the dosing device of the packaging line in the facilities of a multinational pharmaceutical company is carried out. Firstly, an introduction is given in which the objectives of the project are set out and a realistic scope and limitations are established. It then goes on to explain in detail the problems to be solved. Next, the relevance of packaging in the pharmaceutical sector is explained, and a description of the facilities and the specific packaging machine is given. In addition, a study is made of similar problems in the pharmaceutical sector, through the study of various articles and publications. Once all this is known and presented, reverse engineering is carried out to design the existing feeding device using SolidWorks. This was done by means of measurements taken by hand on the component. Then, several alternatives are proposed to solve the problem, and they are compared to end up obtaining the one that is defined as optimal to improve the component. Finally, also using SolidWorks, an improved design of the feeding device is made. Finally, an analysis of the proposed solution is carried out and a comparative analysis is made with the existing solution to evaluate the final proposal

Artificial intelligence is a wide concept and it’s being used in more and more machine applications, teaching them to perform tasks which would require human intelligence. The implemented algorithm requires samples of ''experience'' from which it can learn and predict the outcome; from there it mainly feeds itself. AI is basically divided into two subsets; deep learning and machine learning. They are mostly distinguished with the way the data is presented to the network. To summarize this project; First the data was monitored on an electromechanical system, monitored data from vibrations was saved and brought in Matlab program, there the data was transformed for future use with autoencoders, which learned the conditions, after training we have to try different parameters for getting the closest reconstruction possible. In the project we applied several techniques like using a multilayered auto-encoder and then finding the best hyper parameters for best results (they were measured by plotting signals and mean square error). The main topic addressed in this paper is trace-optimization of polynomials in noncommuting (nc) variables: given an nc polynomial f, what is the smallest trace $${f(\underline {A})}$$ can attain for a tuple of matrices $${\underline {A}}$$ ? A relaxation using semidefinite programming (SDP) based on sums of hermitian squares and commutators is proposed. While this relaxation is not always exact, it gives effectively computable bounds on the optima. To test for exactness, the solution of the dual SDP is investigated. If it satisfies a certain condition called flatness, then the relaxation is exact. In this case it is shown how to extract global trace-optimizers with a procedure based on two ingredients. The first is the solution to the truncated tracial moment problem, and the other crucial component is the numerical implementation of the Artin-Wedderburn theorem for matrix *-algebras due to Murota, Kanno, Kojima, Kojima, and Maehara. Trace-optimization of nc polynomials is a nontrivial extension of polynomial optimization in commuting variables on one side and eigenvalue optimization of nc polynomials on the other side—two topics with many applications, the most prominent being to linear systems engineering and quantum physics. The optimization problems discussed here facilitate new possibilities for applications, e.g. in operator algebras and statistical physics.

Power Engineering - Abstract

UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR This project aims to prove that is possible to develop Business Intelligence applications by using Google Apps.

These conclusions are based on the results of several analysesexperiments as FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), goniometry, Oxygen barrier test, antimicrobial etc. Outgoing

- Abstract
Maxillary sinus retention cysts (MRCs) are typically asymptomatic and require no treatment. An early 30s man presented with a decade-long history of severe left-sided chronic facial pain (CFP). Multiple prior treatments resulted in an edentulous patient with persistent pain. Imaging revealed a dome-shaped radiopaque change in the left maxillary sinus. History and clinical examination suggested persistent idiopathic facial pain, and doubts about the outcome of a surgical intervention were explained to the patient. Surgical removal of the MRC via lateral antrotomy led to complete symptom resolution of CFP. This case substantiates the importance of considering MRCs as a possible cause of CFP. It also emphasises the need for a systematic multidisciplinary approach in cases of unexplained CFP., Competing Interests: Competing interests: None declared., (© BMJ Publishing Group Limited 2024. - Abstract
Consistent with research across several domains, intervention adherence is associated with desired outcomes. Our study investigates adherence, defined by participants' commitment to, persistence with, and compliance with an intervention's regimen, as a key mechanism underlying cognitive training effectiveness. We examine this relationship in a large and diverse sample comprising 4,775 adults between the ages of 18 and 93. We test the predictive validity of individual difference factors, such as age, gender, cognitive capability (i.e., fluid reasoning and working memory), grit, ambition, personality, self-perceived cognitive failures, socioeconomic status, exercise, and education on commitment to and persistence with a 20-session cognitive training regimen, as measured by the number of sessions completed. Additionally, we test the relationship between compliance measures: (i) spacing between training sessions, as measured by the average time between training sessions, and (ii) consistency in the training schedule, as measured by the variance in time between training sessions, with performance trajectories on the training task. Our data suggest that none of these factors reliably predict commitment to, persistence with, or compliance with cognitive training. Nevertheless, the lack of evidence from the large and representative sample extends the knowledge from previous research exploring limited, heterogenous samples, characterized by older adult populations. The absence of reliable predictors for commitment, persistence, and compliance in cognitive training suggests that nomothetic factors may affect program adherence. Future research will be well served to examine diverse approaches to increasing motivation in cognitive training to improve program evaluation and reconcile the inconsistency in findings across the field., Competing Interests: The authors have no competing interests to declare., (Copyright: © 2023 The Author(s).)

- Abstract
In face-to-face learning environments, instructors (sub)consciously measure student engagement to obtain immediate feedback regarding the training they are leading. This constant monitoring process enables instructors to dynamically adapt the training activities according to the perceived student reactions, which aims to keep them engaged in the learning process. However, when shifting from face-to-face to synchronous virtual learning environments (VLEs), assessing to what extent students are engaged to the training process during the lecture has become a challenging and arduous task. Typical indicators such as students' faces, gestural poses, or even hearing their voice can be easily masked by the intrinsic nature of the virtual domain (e.g., cameras and microphones can be turned off). The purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology and its associated model to measure student engagement in VLEs that can be obtained from the systematic analysis of more than 30 types of digital interactions and events during a synchronous lesson. To validate the feasibility of this approach, a software prototype has been implemented to measure student engagement in two different learning activities in a synchronous learning session: a masterclass and a hands-on session. The obtained results aim to help those instructors who feel that the connection with their students has weakened due to the virtuality of the learning environment.

- Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the influence of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) on working memory's (WM) storage capacity. Sham/verum tACS with individually determined theta frequency was applied to the left parietal (target electrode=P3) or frontal (target electrode=F3) brain areas (return electrode above the right eyebrow). After sham and verum stimulation, 24 respondents solved a task measuring the scope of attention while their electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded. Verum tACS with the target electrode positioned over the left parietal brain area significantly increased WM storage capacity, as compared to sham tACS. No such influence was observed for tACS with the target electrode positioned over the left frontal area. Increased WM storage capacity was accompanied by event-related potential (ERP) P300 latency decrease in the left hemisphere. The obtained behavioral and neuroelectric data emphasize the causal relationship between WM storage capacity and theta frequency oscillations in the left parietal brain area., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier B.V. - Abstract
The study aimed to explore the role of the fronto-parietal brain network in working memory function--in temporary storage and manipulation of information. In a single blind sham controlled experiment 36 respondents solved different working memory tasks after theta transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) was applied to left frontal, left parietal and right parietal areas. Both verum tACS protocols stimulating parietal brain areas (target electrodes positioned at location P3, or P4) had a positive effect on WM storage capacity as compared with sham tACS, whereas no such influence was observed for the stimulation of the left frontal area (target electrode positioned at location F3). A second finding was that left parietal theta tACS had a more pronounced influence on backward recall than on forward recall, which was not related to task content (spatial or verbal). The influence of theta tACS on WM executive processes was most pronounced for right parietal stimulation. The results are discussed in the broad theoretical framework of the multicomponent model of working memory., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.)

- Abstract
The main objectives of the study were: to investigate whether training on working memory (WM) could improve fluid intelligence, and to investigate the effects WM training had on neuroelectric (electroencephalography - EEG) and hemodynamic (near-infrared spectroscopy - NIRS) patterns of brain activity. In a parallel group experimental design, respondents of the working memory group after 30 h of training significantly increased performance on all tests of fluid intelligence. By contrast, respondents of the active control group (participating in a 30-h communication training course) showed no improvements in performance. The influence of WM training on patterns of neuroelectric brain activity was most pronounced in the theta and alpha bands. Theta and lower-1 alpha band synchronization was accompanied by increased lower-2 and upper alpha desynchronization. The hemodynamic patterns of brain activity after the training changed from higher right hemispheric activation to a balanced activity of both frontal areas. The neuroelectric as well as hemodynamic patterns of brain activity suggest that the training influenced WM maintenance functions as well as processes directed by the central executive. The changes in upper alpha band desynchronization could further indicate that processes related to long term memory were also influenced., (Copyright © 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.)

- Abstract
Synthesis of a simple robust controller with a pole placement technique and a H(∞) metrics is the method used for control of a servo mechanism with BLDC and BDC electric motors. The method includes solving a polynomial equation on the basis of the chosen characteristic polynomial using the Manabe standard polynomial form and parametric solutions. Parametric solutions are introduced directly into the structure of the servo controller. On the basis of the chosen parametric solutions the robustness of a closed-loop system is assessed through uncertainty models and assessment of the norm ‖•‖(∞). The design procedure and the optimization are performed with a genetic algorithm differential evolution - DE. The DE optimization method determines a suboptimal solution throughout the optimization on the basis of a spectrally square polynomial and Šiljak's absolute stability test. The stability of the designed controller during the optimization is being checked with Lipatov's stability condition. Both utilized approaches: Šiljak's test and Lipatov's condition, check the robustness and stability characteristics on the basis of the polynomial's coefficients, and are very convenient for automated design of closed-loop control and for application in optimization algorithms such as DE., (Copyright © 2011 ISA. - Abstract
This study investigated electrophysiological (EEG) and hemodynamic (near infrared spectroscopy - NIRS) measures as a function of gender in normal adult individuals. The EEG data analysis was based on the resting eyes closed brain activity of 300 respondents (160 females). The NIRS analyses was based on 155 respondents (88 females). The total power, coherence and approximate entropy measures were calculated for the EEG recordings in the δ, θ, lower-1 α, lower-2 α, upper α, β and γ bands. Based on the filtered NIRS data the concentration, the peak frequency and the Hurst exponent (H) of oxi-Hb and deoxi-Hb were determined. Higher power values in females as compared with males were observed in the β and γ bands. In the lower-1 α, lower-2 α and upper α bands this difference was only pronounced in the parieto-occipital areas. Higher coherences in the δ band in females as compared to males was observed, whereas a reverse pattern of differences was present in the β and γ bands. A similar pattern of differences was also observed for the ApEn measures. Males showed a higher percentage of oxygen saturation of hemoglobin, more irregular and faster spontaneous fluctuations in oxi-Hb and deoxi-Hb as compared with females. It can be concluded that males and females differ in the local as well as long range coding of information - the binding of distributed responses - as well as in the excitability dynamics of their cortical network., (Copyright © 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
