Chinese electric carmakers are expanding in Europe to counteract the impact of tariffs imposed by the European Union (EU) on Chinese electric vehicles. The EU's tariffs, which can reach up to 48%, threaten to make Chinese EVs more expensive for consumers or unprofitable. To avoid these tariffs, Chinese EV manufacturers are partnering with local European companies and setting up production facilities in Europe. This expansion poses a risk to European auto giants, who are already facing declining sales and may have to close some of their own sites. However, Chinese EV makers currently hold less than 10% of the European market share. [Extracted from the article]
