Subglottic stenosis is an important complication following invasive airway manipulation for long periods of time. Only a small percentage of these cases develop clinical repercussions in patient's daily life, however, they are an important cause of difficult airway. This clinical case presents a 43-year-old male patient with a past hospitalization in an Intensive Care Unit in Senegal for an indefinite time. We describe the decisions made upon an unanticipated difficult airway, and the postoperative management of this case of subglottic stenosis, A estenose subglótica é uma complicação importante após a manipulação invasiva da via aérea por longos períodos. Sendo que apenas uma pequena percentagem manifesta repercussão clínica no dia-a-dia do doente, são, contudo, uma causa importante de via aérea difícil. Este caso clínico apresenta um paciente do sexo masculino, 43 anos, com um internamento prévio numa Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos no Senegal por tempo indeterminado. Descreve-se as decisões tomadas perante uma via aérea difícil inesperada e a gestão pós-operatória deste caso de estenose subglótica.

UIDB/04666/2020 UIDP/04666/2020 The study of Early Modern Iberian footwear is taking its first steps. Both historiography and archaeological research have devoted little attention to this issue and organic remains found in excavation even tend to be discarded. This paper will address the results of DRESS project’s questioning about courtly footwear, whose research benefited from a multidisciplinary team that included archaeologists familiar with the assemblages from which it was still possible to recover remains for analysis. The data provided and analysed starts with the study of the footwear evidence found in the Angra D shipwreck (Azores), a 16th century site. However, we soon noticed that this isolated study did not comprehensively provide information on the subject and two other intertidal archaeological sites were added: assemblages from Santa Clara-a-Velha (Poor Clares) Monastery in Coimbra (late 16th and 17th century), situated on the south bank of the Mondego River, and archaeological remains from the Campo das Cebolas (Old Market), on Lisbon waterfront (16th–17th century). Data from three archaeological sites were collected, drawn, and analysed, and a comparative methodology was applied. The cariogenic processes are mainly caused by the bacterium Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and consist of the demineralization of the tooth that occurs when the acid production overcomes the natural repair or if a problem occurs in the last one. In this work, we performed the synthesis of twenty-one 1,4-naphthoquinones tethered to 1,2,3-1H-triazoles (8a-8k and 9a-9j), antibacterial evaluation against the S. mutans in vitro and the acute toxicity of the better ones in vivo. We observed strong inhibition results in the disc diffusion test ranging, the halos of inhibitions, from 18.66 (± 0.57) to 29 (± 2.64) mm, and good values in the minimum inhibitory concentration (5 to 50 μg), for the compounds 9e, 9h, 9i and 9j: Furthermore, they do not have a cytotoxic effect at the concentrations tested. Besides that, in the in vivo test, they show some slight alteration in the histopathological analyses and the biochemistry. Thus, we found four potential candidates to become instruments for the treatment of cavities.

Este projeto de investigação consiste numa abordagem à pedagogia coral, incidindo nas metodologias de implementação do texto poético. Considerando que a prática coral segue alguns estereótipos no que concerne à estrutura do ensaio, metodologias de implementação e de aprendizagem de novo repertório, pretende-se evidenciar a importância do texto poético e respetiva implementação. Concomitantemente, o projeto incide nas componentes que constituem a prática e pedagogia coral, desde o ensaio, o coro, o maestro e o trabalho em grupo, no geral. Com o intuito de valorizar todo este processo de implementação e preparação de uma obra musical, o meu principal objetivo neste projeto é explorar diferentes abordagens práticas do repertório coral, incidindo na implementação do texto poético enquanto aspeto preponderante. This project consists of an approach to choral pedagogy, focusing on the methodologies for implementing the poetic text. Considering that choral practice follows some stereotypes regarding the structure of the rehearsal, implementation methodologies and learning new repertoire, it is intended to highlight the relevance of the poetic text and its implementation. At the same time, the project focuses on the components that constitute choral practice and pedagogy, from the rehearsal, the choir, the conductor and group work, in general. In order to value this entire process of implementation and preparation of a musical work, my main objective in this project is to explore different practical approaches to the choral repertoire, focusing on the implementation of the poetic text as a preponderant aspect. In 1522, Álvaro do Tojal and Vaseon Traillan, treasurers to the Infanta Beatrice of Portugal and to the Duke Charles III of Savoy, respectively, signed two inventories, a Portuguese and a Savoyard version, confirming the receipt and appraisal of her wedding dowry. This chapter questions the conventional interpretation of a dowry’s inventory (the content) by reconstructing the history and biography of the documents, which were written after the marriage of Beatrice and Charles and present the same content in different ways. For this purpose, the contribution analyses issues relating to the documents’ narrative potential and agency. Further, it argues that the inventory of Beatrice’s dowry results from the analysis and interpretation of both documents, written under the same circumstances and aiming at the same purpose, but targeted to different audiences, using a methodology that can apply in case studies with similar characteristics., Österreichische Zeitschrift für Geschichtswissenschaften, Bd. 32 Nr. 3 (2021): Inventare als Texte und Artefakte. The objective of this study was to develop whole wheat bread formulations enriched with cocona flour, in order to analyze its action on the glycemic index in vitro. The development of the breads occurred with the addition of different concentrations of the fruit flour (2,5% and 5%). All the breads were evaluated in their nutritional composition by the food chemical composition tables, and were also submitted to starch digestion and hydrolysis to determine their glycemic index and glycemic load. The coloration of the formulations was evaluated by the CIELab scale, and a sensorial evaluation was made by a nine-point hedonic scale with 112 tasters. The results showed that the breads elaborated in concentrations of 2,5% (PI 2,5%) and the breads added with 5% of cocona flour (PI 5%) have low fat content and high fiber content (PI 2,5% 7,99 g/100g and PI 5% 7,85 g/100g). The cocona and the breads added with its flour were classified as foods of low glycemic index and glycemic load, even with the addition of the flour in small concentrations (2,5% and 5%). Considering the sensorial analysis of the breads added with the fruit flour, the PI 2,5% was the one that obtained the best acceptance. The obtained results demonstrate that breads with minimal concentrations of cocona (2,5%) can be associated to the alimentary consumption of diabetic individuals, favoring their glycemic control other complementary studies are necessary to evaluate the microbiological characteristics of the finished breads to conclude the safety of its conservation status, as well as its interaction with the glycemic profile of individuals with Diabetes mellitus. El objetivo de este estudio fue desarrollar formulaciones de pan de trigo integral enriquecidas con harina de cubiu para analizar su acción sobre el índice glucémico in vitro. El desarrollo de los panes se produjo con la adición de diferentes concentraciones de harina de la fruta (2,5% y 5%). Todos los panes fueron evaluados en su composición nutricional mediante las herramientas de tablas de composición química de los alimentos, además de ser sometidos a la digestión e hidrólisis del almidón para la determinación de su índice glucémico y carga glucémica. La coloración de las formulaciones se evaluó mediante la escala CIELab y la evaluación sensorial se realizó mediante una escala hedónica de nueve puntos con 112 participantes. Los resultados mostraron que los panes elaborados en concentraciones de 2,5% (PI 2,5%) y los panes adicionados con 5% de harina de maná cubiu (PI 5%) tienen bajo contenido de grasa y alto contenido de fibra (PI 2,5% 7,99 g/100g y PI 5% 7,85 g/100g). El cubo de maná y los panes añadidos con su harina se clasificaron como alimentos de bajo índice glucémico y carga glucémica, incluso con la adición de harina en pequeñas concentraciones (2,5% y 5%). Considerando el análisis sensorial de los panes adicionados de la harina de la fruta, el PI 2,5% fue el que obtuvo mejor aceptación. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que las manos con concentraciones mínimas de cubiu (2,5%) pueden estar asociadas al consumo alimentario de los diabéticos, favoreciendo su control glicémico. Otros estudios complementarios son necesarios para evaluar las características microbiológicas de las manos ya finalizadas para concluir la seguridad de su estado de conservación, así como su interacción con el perfil glicémico de los individuos con Diabetes mellitus. O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver formulações de pão integral enriquecidas com farinha de maná cubiu, a fim de analisar sua ação no índice glicêmico in vitro. O desenvolvimento dos pães ocorreu com adição de diferentes concentrações de farinha do fruto (2,5% e 5%). Todos os pães foram avaliados em sua composição nutricional pelas ferramentas de tabelas de composição química de alimentos, além disso foram submetidos à digestão e hidrólise do amido para determinação de seu índice glicêmico e carga glicêmica. A coloração das formulações foi avaliada pela escala CIELab e se realizou a avaliação sensorial por escala hedônica de nove pontos com 112 provadores. Os resultados demonstraram que os pães elaborados nas concentrações de 2,5% (PI 2,5%) e os pães adicionados de 5% de farinha do maná cubiu (PI 5%) apresentam baixo teor de gordura e alto teor de fibras (PI 2,5% 7,99 g/100g e PI 5% 7,85 g/100g). O maná cubiu e os pães adicionados de sua farinha foram classificados como alimentos de baixo índice glicêmico e carga glicêmica, mesmo com a adição da farinha em pequenas concentrações (2,5% e 5%). Considerando a análise sensorial dos pães adicionados da farinha do fruto, o PI 2,5% foi o que obteve melhor aceitação, além disso, os resultados obtidos demonstram que pães com concentrações mínimas de maná cubiu (2,5%) podem ser associados ao consumo alimentar de indivíduos diabéticos, favorecendo seu controle glicêmico.
