The Berwald - Lagrange curvature with respect to the vector field in the two dimensional geometric dynamics of the Langmuir - Blodgett monolayer is determined. It is shown, that the metric of the monolayer space is of the scalar curvature and the sign of the Berwald - Lagrange curvature governs the growth of geodesic deviations within the monolayer, which in turn gives qualitative information about the sign of compressibility. Wind is the main factor involved in changing the natural balance of forest ecosystems from Gurghiu hydrographic basin. Strong winds are responsible for windthrows, especially in spruce arboretums, the most representative of the wood species form the studied area. Trees can be partially (bending of trunks, branches and broken tops) or totally (pulling the roots) damaged. Windthrows occurrence is closely related to the climatic factors, physical-geographical conditions (slope, soil characteristics) and arboretum characteristics (structure, age, consistency) are also important. The imbalance induced by those phenomena is emphasized by pest invasions (especially Ips Typographus) which are quite frequent after windthrows. Our study represents a detailed analysis of the way in which the structure and the balance of the forest ecosystems of Gurghiu basin undergo major changes, because the climatic factors (wind, snow) action. Case study is the windthrow occurred on June 2010, when 200,000 m³ of wood was windthrowed, over a total area of 5,953 ha in P.U. II Isticeu (Fâncel Forest Range) and partially in P.U. I Glăjărie (the same forest range). The methodology used includes the analysis of climatic data, statistical data processing, GIS techniques for mapping the areas vulnerable to windthrows, synthesis. Older pre-schoolers greatly enjoy movement games which they organize themselves. Many times they play several games and display the same stamina from start to finish. With older pre-schoolers, one can notice the preference for certain games they consider funnier, and which they practice more often. With a careful choice and a grading of all physical exercises and movement games, they get to perform a complex of actions at different signals. For instance, when playing the "colorful circles", older pre-schoolers perform the following actions at various signals: picking up the circles, running along the big circle's line, grouping the small circles etc. A series of positive aspects concerning the general body balance up to the age of 5 make the pre-schooler even more available for the physical education training which grows continually more demanding but which also improves body's general movement ability. Results concerning the saturation magnetostriction, λs, dependence on the tensile stress applied during annealing as well as during measurements for Fe72.5-xCoxSi12.5B15 glass covered amorphous wires before and after glass removal are reported. The increase of the tensile stress during annealing leads to an increase of saturation magnetostriction at zero applied stress, λs(0), up to about 5% for highly magnetostrictive samples (Fe-based). For low magnetostrictive as well as for negative magnetostrictive samples (Co-based), when the value of tensile stress applied during annealing increases, changes up to 10% of λs(0) absolute value were observed. In the case of nearly zero magnetostrictive Fe4.35Co68.15Si12.5B15 samples, a change in λs(0) sign can be obtained by proper stress-current annealing. The aim of the paper is to test the valability of Engel's law in the Romanian consumption dynamics after 1990. We used NIS ad EUROSTAT data to interpret the dynamics of the households' income and consumption expenditures and its structure by destinations. We explored the relationship between consumption and income through the regression analysis and found that the Engel's law applies in the Romanian economy, since 1990 to 2016, with specific evolutions and influences.

The purpose of the paper is to give an overview of the changes in the structure of industries in Romania, specifically on the questions (1) whether the industrial structures become more similar or more different in the Romanian regions and (2) whether the Romanian industries become more concentrated or more dispersed. EUROSTAT regional data on Gross Value Added and employed population for the period of 2000-2013 are used in order to calculate several statistical indices of specialization and concentration (Krugman, Entropy, Hirschman-Herfindahl, Lilien Index and Gini coefficient). By comparing the values of these different measurements, the main finding is that Romanian regions become less specialized, while industries become slightly more concentrated. The speed of structural changes in all Romanian regions registered a noticeable slowdown of the speed of sectoral changes after the economic crisis. Our conclusions provide useful information for the economic policy makers in investment funds allocation or employment measures designing.

A new simple, rapid, accurate and precise High – Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method for determination of benzylpenicillin potassium and streptomycin sulphate in Ascomicin ointment was developed and validated. The method can be used for the detection and quantification of known and unknown impurities and degradation products in this pharmaceutical product during routine analysis and also for stability studies in view of its capability to separate degradation products. The method was validated for accuracy, precision, specificity, robustness and quantification limits according to ICH Guidelines. The estimation of benzylpenicillin potassium and streptomycin sulphate was done by Waters HPLC 2695. The chromatographic conditions comprised a reverse-phased C18 column (5 µm particle size, 250 mm×4.6 mm i.d.) with a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of solution in water containing 0.025 M of sodium phosphate dibasic and 0.02 of sodium hexansulfonate adjusted to pH 6.0 with 22.5 g/lsolution of phosphoric acid and acetonitrile in gradient elution. The flow rate was 0.8 ml/min. Standard curves were linear over the concentration range of 5.00 µg/ml to 5.00 mg/ml for streptomycin sulphate and 3.26 µg/ml to 3.26 mg/ml for benzylpenicillin potassium. Statistical analyses proved the method was precise, reproducible, selective, specific and accurate for analysis of benzylpenicillin potassium, streptomycin sulphate and related substances.

Background: The anti- Müllerian hormone (AMH) is secreted in women exclusively by the granulosa cells of the ovarian follicles. The serum level of AMH is a precise marker of follicle pool size. In recent clinical studies of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the serum levels of AMH were elevated about two to threefold. The use of metformin in women with infertility and PCOS has proved to be efficient: restoring ovulation and reducing metabolic dysfunctions. The aim of our study is to assess AMH as a prognostic marker for metformin therapy efficiency in the treatment of women with infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods: Eleven patients with infertility and PCOS were enrolled; PCOS was diagnosed according to the criteria of Androgen Excess and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Society 2006 (AE/PCOS). All patients have received metformin therapy. Serum AMH was recorded before and after 2 months of treatment; the normal laboratory values were 2.0-6.8 ng/ml. Results: The primary serum AMH level of all women in study was very high: 8.99±0.99 ng/ml. After 2 months of treatment with metformin ovulation was restored in all the patients and the serum AMH levels were significantly decreased. Conclusions: In clinical practice, serum AMH levels of women with infertility and PCOS receiving metformin are a useful predictive marker for the treatment efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Scopul acestui studiu, parte a proiectului PERSOTHER, este implementarea unei tehnici noi - hibridizarea in situ cu imunofluorescenţa (FISH) - in diagnosticul limfoamelor Burkitt (BL), pentru prima dată în ţara noastră. BL este un limfom cu celulă B de mare agresivitate clinică. Sunt recunoscute 3 variante de LB: endemică (în Africa ecuatorială), sporadică (peste tot in lume) şi asociată cu imunodeficienţa. Clasificarea Organizaţiei Mondiale a Sănătăţii din 2008 a descris o nouă formă de limfom cu celulă B, neclasificabil, cu caractere intermediare între un limfom difuz cu celulă mare B şi un BL. Deoarece tratamentul BL este foarte agresiv, cu chimioterapie in doze mari, un diagnostic corect este obligatoriu. Citologia, morfologia şi imunofenotipul (CD20+, CD10+, BCL6+, BCL2-, Ki67 98-100%) sunt tipice pentru BL. Majoritatea au o translocaţie a genei MYC, localizate pe 8q24 cu gena pentru IgH, 14q32. Demonstrarea transocaţiei MYC este necesară pentru diagnosticul de BL şi pentru diferenţierea de un DLBCL, în unele cazuri. 22 de cazuri de BL au fost evaluate prin FISH pentru translocaţia MYC. 17 cazuri au fost pozitive, un caz a fost negativ şi 4 cazuri au fost neconcludente. Aceste rezultate sunt concordante cu literatura de specialitate: autorii raportează aproximativ 10% cazuri de BL fără transocaţie MYC. În aceste cazuri pot fi implicate alterări ale micro-ARN. Studiul actual evidenţiază importanţa FISH in diagnosticul BL, identifică unele dificultăţi tehnice ale metodei şi reprezintă pentru viitor, o bază a diagnosticului de rutină, în cazuri selecţionate.
