The author writes a critique on the book "The Bondwoman's Narrative," by Hannah Crafts. He notes that the wedding portrayed by Crafts in her book is similar to the one depicted in Isaac Moore's "History of North Carolina." However, Crafts presented the wedding from the perspective of the slaves awaiting the return of their master and mistress.

A notable early example of the docu-drama feature, Stark Love (1927) was filmed on location in the North Carolina mountains with a local cast of non-professionals. Since its rediscovery in the late 1960s it has been of great interest to both film historians and students of Appalachia. The authors present a commentary in response to professor Noeleen McIlvenna's review of their book "New Voyages to Carolina: Reinterpreting North Carolina History," published in the April 2020 issue. Topics discussed include the acknowledgment of the significant contributions of scholars to narratives about North Carolina history, the publications used as reference for the book, and the recognition given to notable events in the history of the state.

The article examines the creation of one community history and preservation project carried out by the Cooleemee Historical Association in North Carolina. The author's research into the community project demonstrates the relationships between historical memory, civic identity, and political action. Cooleemee's local history project, led by Jim and Lynn Wells Rumley, represents the consequences of differing social and political views upon heritage collections which ultimately represent selective historical memory.
