El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar descriptivamente la regulación de la conducta en el ejercicio físico, para lo cual se realizó la aplicación del cuestionario BREQ- 3, que mide las regulaciones intrínsecas, integrada, identificada, introyectada, externa y desmotivación en niños y niñas de 10 a 13 años de la escuela Carmen Romero Aguirre de lo Abarca y Liceo Eugenia Subercaseaux de San Sebastián, establecimientos municipales de la comuna de Cartagena, V región, Chile. El diseño no experimental descriptivo correlacional – causal, que se llevó a cabo, a través de la aplicación de una encuesta realizada por la plataforma de google formulario. El total de estudiantes fueron 92 niños y niñas entre los 10 y 13 años de edad, de los cuales 27 son de la escuela rural Carmen Romero Aguirre (CRA) y 65 de la zona urbana del Liceo Eugenia Subercaseux (LES) ambos establecimientos pertenecientes a la Comuna de Cartagena, V región, Chile. Dentro de los principales resultados se encontraron diferencias significativas en la regulación introyectada por género; en la regulación identificada por establecimiento educacional; en la regulación integrada por la práctica constante de actividad física y diferencias significativas en la regulación intrínseca, integrada y externa de acuerdo a la frecuencia semanal de actividad física o deporte realizado, con tales resultados puede contribuir a la elaboración de planes específicos en el área de motivación deportiva, tanto a nivel de escuela como a nivel gubernamental, con el objetivo de aumentar la motivación intrínseca en el deporte y por ende a mejorar la salud y nutrición, factores relevantes en este momento a nivel tanto de país como a nivel mundial.

The rampant evolution of resistance in Plasmodium to all existing antimalarial drugs calls for the development of improved therapeutic compounds and of adequate targeted delivery strategies for them. Loading antimalarials in nanocarriers specifically targeted to the parasite will contribute to the administration of lower overall doses, with reduced side effects for the patient, and of higher local amounts to parasitized cells for an increased lethality toward the pathogen. Here, we report the development of dendronized hyperbranched polymers (DHPs), with capacity for antimalarial loading, that are coated with heparin for their specific targeting to red blood cells parasitized by Plasmodium falciparum. The resulting DHP–heparin complexes exhibit the intrinsic antimalarial activity of heparin, with an IC50 of ca. 400 nM, added to its specific targeting to P. falciparum-infected (vs noninfected) erythrocytes. DHP–heparin nanocarriers represent a potentially interesting contribution to the limited family of structures described so far for the loading and targeted delivery of current and future antimalarial compounds.

El presente trabajo describe la instrumentación eléctrica y electrónica de un prototipo protésico diseñado para una amputación transtibial a nivel del tercio superior, la instrumentación propuesta se integra a un mando central que tiene como elemento principal a un microprocesador Raspberry Pi Zero W. El prototipo cuenta con características mínimas viables que le permiten reproducir el movimiento del tobillo durante el ciclo de marcha. Para validar la instrumentación propuesta, se hace uso de una máquina de estados y un controlador tipo PD, ambos se implementaron de forma embebida en el microprocesador mediante el uso de un lenguaje multiplataforma de código abierto. Por último, se muestran los resultados del seguimiento de la trayectoria del tobillo durante el ciclo de marcha.

The main constraint on developing a full potential for CO2 adsorption of 3D composite monoliths made of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and polymer materials is the lack of control of their textural properties, along with the diffusional limitation to the CO2 adsorption due to the pronounced polymers' microporosity. In this work, the textural properties of the composites were altered by employing highly crosslinked polymer particles, synthesized by emulsion polymerization in aqueous media. For that aim, waterborne methyl methacrylate (MMA) particles were prepared, in which the crosslinking was induced by using different quantities of divinyl benzene (DVB). Afterward, these particles were combined with rGO platelets and subjected to the reduction-induced self assembly process. The resulting 3D monolithic porous materials certainly presented improved textural properties, in which the porosity and BET surface area were increased up to 100% with respect to noncrosslinked composites. The crosslinked density of MMA polymer particles was a key parameter controlling the porous properties of the composites. Consequently, higher CO2 uptake than that of neat GO structures and composites made of noncrosslinked MMA polymer particles was attained. This work demonstrates that a proper control of the microstructure of the polymer particles and their facile introduction within rGO self assembly 3D structures is a powerful tool to tailor the textural properties of the composites toward improved CO2 capture performance. Wnt proteins are secreted hydrophobic glycoproteins that act over long distances through poorly understood mechanisms. We discovered that Wnt7a is secreted on extracellular vesicles (EVs) following muscle injury. Structural analysis identified the motif responsible for Wnt7a secretion on EVs that we term the Exosome Binding Peptide (EBP). Addition of the EBP to an unrelated protein directed secretion on EVs. Disruption of palmitoylation, knockdown of WLS, or deletion of the N-terminal signal peptide did not affect Wnt7a secretion on purified EVs. Bio-ID analysis identified Coatomer proteins as candidates responsible for loading Wnt7a onto EVs. The crystal structure of EBP bound to the COPB2 coatomer subunit, the binding thermodynamics, and mutagenesis experiments, together demonstrate that a dilysine motif in the EBP mediates binding to COPB2. Other Wnts contain functionally analogous structural motifs. Mutation of the EBP results in a significant impairment in the ability of Wnt7a to stimulate regeneration, indicating that secretion of Wnt7a on exosomes is critical for normal regeneration in vivo. Our studies have defined the structural mechanism that mediates binding of Wnt7a to exosomes and elucidated the singularity of long-range Wnt signalling.

[EN] Wear of end ring is to date an unreported and uninvestigated failure that very frequently takes place in deep-well submersible motor pumps. This article first analyses the particularities of these induction motors, especially their unusual rotor manufacturing process. Failure mechanism related to the end-ring wear is described, showing several examples of damaged rotors in a motor repair shop. Then, the difficulties of its diagnosis through conventional rotor asymmetry indicators are described, caused by the subtlety of this fault and the very easy appearance of false negatives. The end-ring wear detection through a multicomponent approach is researched through simulation, laboratory results, and the diagnosis of two-field motors showing that new fault alarm levels need to be defined. Road mobility is evolving driven by environmental and energy constraints. The pursuit of cleaner and more efficient drivetrain systems has resulted in significant R&D work in the areas of fuels, engine efficiency, and pollutant control. It is essential to reduce the environmental impacts of internal combustion engines due to the overwhelming presence of vehicles equipped with these engines in today’s fleet, so the need to develop fuels with the potential to significantly reduce CO2 emissions is obvious. The main objective of this work is to understand the behavioral effects in the engine when fueled with different biofuel percentages blended in conventional diesel (B7, B15 and HVO15). This was accomplished by several experimental tests carried out on a dynamometer using a vehicle equipped with a common-rail Diesel engine, considering performance analysis (power and torque) and WLTP cycles to realize fuel consumption and emission data. Additionally, to understand the way the engine perceives the use of different fuels the in-chamber pressure and the fuel injector behavior were measured, considering different load and engine speed conditions. It was observed that B7 was the most efficient fuel, presenting fuel consumption values of 5.94 kg/100km, lower than 6.10 kg/100km for HVO15 and 5.99kg/100km for B15. The differences in performance for B7 and HVO15 were almost unnoticeable. Nevertheless, some consistent differences in injector opening times and in-cylinder pressure were noted, which supports the observed engine performance and efficiency results, allowing to detect the relation of engine adaptation to different fuel properties, its energetic and environmental effects.

Climate change is modifying the spatiotemporal patterns of global precipitation events, temperatures, and winds, therefore, after extreme events, improving emergency responses in urban areas is key to saving its inhabitants. In Southern America, the number of extreme events is increasing. This is the case of Soledad, the municipality in Colombia where most of the catastrophic wind phenomena take place. To date, no studies have been conducted to quantify the impacts and effects of the urban cyclonic wind phenomena on society and the urban built environment. This lack of information and dissemination means that the population is not informed of the magnitude of the problem. This research aims to generate a risk map of atmospheric wind phenomena to evaluate their impacts and establish spatial-temporal correlations based on meteorological data from the last 20 years. Moreover, the online press has been used to identify the location of these phenomena and their negative impacts over time. For each event, the following indicators have been studied: (1) location of the atmospheric wind events; (2) occurrence rate; (3) impact of the events discriminated by fatalities, injuries, and affected houses. The results show that in 20 years, a total of 34 urban cyclonic wind events were reported. Those occurrences have impacted 60 neighbourhoods, leaving 7 deaths, 14,552 injured, and 5180 affected homes. These findings show the magnitude of the problem and the need to inform the population to improve emergency responses. Deep learning algorithms applied to structural biology often struggle to converge to meaningful solutions when limited data is available, since they are required to learn complex physical rules from examples. State-of-the-art force-fields, however, cannot interface with deep learning algorithms due to their implementation. We present MadraX, a forcefield implemented as a differentiable PyTorch module, able to interact with deep learning algorithms in an end-to-end fashion. MadraX is available at madrax.readthedocs.io

Retinal photoreceptors have a distinct transcriptomic profile compared to other neuronal subtypes, likely reflecting their unique cellular morphology and function in the detection of light stimuli by way of the ciliary outer segment. We discovered a layer of this molecular specialization by revealing that the vertebrate retina expresses the largest number of tissue-enriched microexons of all tissue types. Data de publicació electrònica: 19-01-2023 Engineered live bacteria could provide a new modality for treating lung infections, a major cause of mortality worldwide. In the present study, we engineered a genome-reduced human lung bacterium, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, to treat ventilator-associated pneumonia, a disease with high hospital mortality when associated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. After validating the biosafety of an attenuated M. pneumoniae chassis in mice, we introduced four transgenes into the chromosome by transposition to implement bactericidal and biofilm degradation activities. We show that this engineered strain has high efficacy against an acute P. aeruginosa lung infection in a mouse model. In addition, we demonstrated that the engineered strain could dissolve biofilms formed in endotracheal tubes of patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia and be combined with antibiotics targeting the peptidoglycan layer to increase efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. We expect our M. pneumoniae-engineered strain to be able to treat biofilm-associated infections in the respiratory tract.
