The high freedom of the gate drive patterns of the Si/SiC hybrid switch comprising the Si IGBT and SiC MOSFET can significantly change the loss of the Si/SiC hybrid switch based inverters. However, the loss model of the Si/SiC hybrid switch is a complex high-order and time-varying function. Therefore, it is difficult to determine an optimal delay time within a current period to ensure high efficiency operation of the inverters. In this paper, a new efficiency improvement method adopting the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to further improve the efficiency of the single-phase inverter. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
