The article considers the issues of statistical accounting of of persons of child age who have fallen into difficult life situation. The paper сarries out a comparison of the conceptual apparatus, revealing such a public category as “children” and gradation parameters of specified population groups from the point of view of revealing the object of study. The authors justify the need to characterize the subject of the study – a difficult life situation in which both an adult and a child can get, highlight particularly the age group “teenagers”. The study presents features of difficult life situations in which children and adolescents can get. The article lists the areas of occurrence of complex circumstances in which difficult life situations are formed and developed. Based on the analysis, the authors propose and substantiate an original system of indicators for assessing persons of child age who have fallen into a difficult life situation.

The research included the characteristics of immediate family members made by the children of economic migrants. In the research, the respondents defined as children of economic migrants were defined as individuals who, in their adolescence (early or late), experienced separation from their parents, caused by one or both parents leaving for work abroad in the European Union.The biographical method was used in the research. There were 84 respondents in total, and the data obtained in the interviews was considered complete, with a high degree of content diversification.The conducted research shows that with the passage of time for all family members, except for the emigrant, his arrival home becomes a commonplace event. This has clear consequences visible in the relations between family members, which are presented in the article. Due to the multithreaded, broad and especially emotional material that was obtained in the research, this publication contains many examples of individual interpretations of their own life situation for the children of emigrants. Badania zawierały charakterystyki członków najbliższej rodziny dokonywane przez dzieci emigrantów zarobkowych. W badaniach za respondentów, określonych mianem dzieci emigrantów zarobkowych, uznano jednostki, które w okresie dorastania (wczesnego lub późnego) doświadczały rozłąki z rodzicami, spowodowanej wyjazdami zarobkowymi jednego lub obojga rodziców do pracy za granicę na terenie Unii Europejskiej. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę biograficzną. Łącznie respondentami były 84 osoby, a dane pozyskane w wywiadach uznano za wysoce nasycone o dużym stopniu zróżnicowania treści. Z prowadzonych badań wynika, że wraz z upływem czasu dla wszystkich członków rodziny poza emigrantem jego przyjazd do domu staje się wydarzeniem powszednim. Ma to jednoznaczne konsekwencje – widoczne w relacjach między członkami rodziny – które zostały zaprezentowane w artykule. Ze względu na wielowątkowy, szeroki i szczególnie emocjonalny materiał, jaki otrzymano w badaniach, w niniejszej publikacji zamieszczono wiele egzemplifikacji indywidualnych interpretacji własnej sytuacji życiowej dzieci emigrantów.

Background Measured indirect blood pressure (BP) results in cats in a clinical environment might be affected by stress and characteristics of the cats. Hypothesis To investigate the influence of clinical setting, cat characteristics, and life situation on BP and pulse rate (PR) in healthy cats. Animals Ninety-four healthy Domestic Shorthair, Birman and Norwegian Forest cats. Methods Blood pressure measured by high-definition oscillometry in 3 settings: cat placed in its own carrier with veterinarian present; cat placed in carrier with owner alone present; and cat placed on table with veterinarian present. Statistical analyses were performed using mixed linear models. Results Systolic BP (SBP) did not differ among settings. Higher mean arterial pressure (MAP), diastolic BP (DBP), and PR were found when measurements were performed with cat placed on table, rather than in carrier. Coefficients of variation (CVs) higher for SBP, MAP, DBP, and PR when measured with cat placed on table than in carrier. Birman cats had lower BP than other breeds. Systolic BP, MAP, DBP, and PR increased with age. Cats allowed outdoors had lower PR than cats living strictly indoors. Conclusion and clinical importance No difference in SBP was found among settings, but measuring BP with the cat placed on the examination table gave higher MAP, DBP, PR, and CV than measuring BP with the cat in its carrier. Breed affected BP, with lower BP in Birman cats than other breeds. Blood pressure increased with age. Pulse rate was lower in cats allowed outdoors than cats living strictly indoors.

2020 tavaszán a COVID-19 járvány terjedése gyökeresen változtatta meg mindannyiunk, így az ebben az évben érettségiző diákok életét is. Az érettségizők különleges csoportnak számítanak: élethelyzetüknél fogva várományosai voltak a nagy fordulópontok megélésének, megünneplésének – mindezek elmaradtak, illetve más formában valósultak meg. Mi több, ez az időszak a vizsgált csoportok életében markáns korszakzárást is jelentett, ami egybeesett a COVID-19 ugyancsak korszakfordulóként karakterizálható időszakával. Kutatásunkban távolléti, online fókuszcsoportos beszélgetések során térképeztük fel az érettségiző diákok percepcióit a megélt érettségi időszakkal kapcsolatban. A fókuszcsoportos beszélgetések nem csupán online kivitelezésűek voltak, hanem audiovizuális módon is zajlottak (szemben a korábban elterjedt, real-time, de szövegalapú, többek között gépelést is magában foglaló online fókuszcsoportokkal). A járvány által kikényszerített helyzet módszertani sajátossága, hogy a csoportot a szituáció kényszere miatt távolléti, online videókonferencia platformokon oktatásban részesülő, az érintett csoporthoz korban közel álló egyetemisták moderálták az online oktatás témájában, szintén online módon. Cikkünkben beszámolunk ezekről a jövőben minden bizonnyal mások által is jól hasznosítható módszertani tapasztalatokról, továbbá a távolléti, online fókuszcsoportos beszélgetések tapasztalatait foglaljuk össze. A fókuszcsoportos beszélgetésekben meghatározó súllyal jelent meg az érettségizők percepciója az online oktatás távlati potenciáljával kapcsolatban.

The peculiarities of subjectivity and adaptation of adolescents at different stages of the crisis of the family system caused by the divorce of the parents are examined in the article. In the post-divorce crisis of the family system, three phases are distinguished: «acute» (lasting up to a year); intermediate (from one to two years) and stabilization phase (two years after divorce). The study tests the hypothesis that in a situation of crisis in the family system there is a slowdown in the formation of subjective qualities and a violation of the socio-psychological adaptation of adolescents. The assumption is tested that in different phases of the post-divorce process the indicators of subjectivity and sociopsychological adaptation differ: they are more pronounced in the acute phase and decrease in the stabilization phase. The purpose is to study the features of the formation of subjectivity and indicators of social and psychological adaptation of adolescents in the acute phase and the phase of stabilization after the parents’ divorce process. The following methods were used: the method of studying subjectivity in adolescence («MEDOS-3», a modification of Ovcharova); methodology «Socialization of the student’s personality» (Rozhkov). Sample: 145 adolescents aged 14-16 years old, including 52 (31 girls, 21 boys) - in the «acute» phase after divorce and 93 (59 girls, 34 boys) - in the stabilization phase. The results of the study revealed a slowdown in the formation of subjectivity and a decrease in the indicators of social and psychological adaptation of adolescents in the situation of the parents’ postdivorce process. There were obtained significant differences in the indices of subjectivity and adaptation of adolescents in different phases of the crisis of the family system. In the acute phase of the crisis, a decrease in the general level of subjectivity, subjectivity in the spheres of communication and activity was revealed, as well as a deterioration in socio-psychological adaptation according to the criteria: «adaptation», «autonomy» and «social activity». In the stabilization phase, there is no decrease in the level of subjectivity; higher adaptation indices were found according to the same criteria. Thus, the situation of the parents’ divorce is a difficult life situation for a teenager, its acute phase is most traumatic; in the stabilization phase, two years after the divorce, the severity of the crisis in the family system decreases.

Encouraging students to speak during classroom activities is an effective strategy to improve their acquisition of the target language. Activities related to real life situation such as role play, debate and simulation provide substantial rehearsal and practice and they allow students to not just learn phrases, but also learn how to communicate in various circumstances. Recent studies have revealed that students who are exposed to learning using role play activities improve significantly in speaking competency. Hence, the aim of this study is to investigate how role play activities in an ESL classroom can be an innovative approach in improving students’ speaking skill. A total of nine undergraduate students from the Faculty of Computing in a public university in the Southern region of Malaysia were involved in this study. The main purpose for choosing the students as participants of the study was due to their low English proficiency based on their MUET results. The instruments used in this study were observation checklist and questionnaire. All the findings were tabulated and analysed qualitatively (observation checklist) as well as quantitatively (questionnaire). From the analysis carried out, it was evident that the students made positive improvement particularly in fluency, comprehension, context, and interactive communication. Besides that, the students felt that role play activities had brought positive effects on their English-speaking skills as obtained from the results of the questionnaire. Thus, it can be deduced that role play activities do have positive effects on students’ English-speaking skills.

An important challenge in Brazilian society is to think about the life situation of the black population within our reality, as a specific problem, encompassing black culture and structural racism, within the perspective of the black population itself. Insert together with life situation of the black population the education of the housing areas of this population. To think about the population life reality within the vision of systemic complexity, overcoming the Eurocentric paradigm, beyond the boundaries of the organization science disciplines and the simplicity of the abstraction model. Black neighborhoods and black urban form is a proposition to achieve these goals. This article aims to think about the ways of education of the black population in a territorialized way contained in the lived reality of the black neighborhoods, to think of their recognition, as a concept, as reality and as specificity for the thought in education. Cities and neighborhoods allow us to think about the reality of structural racism mirrored in built structures or not, and black urban forms are concepts, scientific abstractions that explain the formation and functioning of the structures of cities and their institutions, among them the education of black population.

The relevance of the study is caused by the fact that raising children in a family is a complex process that covers the influence of the whole environment and microclimate in the family to the formation of the child. The article aims to carry out a theoretical analysis of family unhappiness as a factor in juvenile delinquency. The article highlights the causes of social maladaptation of the child-related to the family; states the consequences of the negative influence of the family on the formation of personality; presents the influence of family unhappiness on juvenile delinquency in interaction with other environmental factors; und out the objective and subjective circumstances which promote the incorrect moral formation of the person in a family are; It was found that families that contribute to the formation of the personality of a juvenile offender are divided into families with negative moral and legal characteristics of parents and families with limited educational opportunities of adults. The authors determined that most juvenile offenders were brought up in disadvantaged families; it is noted that minors adopt habits and patterns of their future behavior from their parents in the domestic situations in which they find themselves. Methods used: analysis of socio-pedagogical, pedagogical, and psychological literature to highlight various aspects of the impact of unfavorable family environment on the development of criminal behavior of minors. The study found that early detection of children prone to delinquency and early intervention to prevent and prevent situations in conflict with the law, strengthening their parents' educational competence, and reducing the vulnerabilities of such parents, are crucial. family, and helping to get out of a difficult life situation.

The aim of the study was to explore the common misconceptions about HIV as a determinant of the HIV epidemic growth and as a factor affecting disease outcomes.Materials and methods. The study involved 136 persons (50 persons with blood-borne infection route, 50 persons with heterosexual transmission, 36 persons without HIV). As research methods a special clinical map was used, as well as an author’s questionnaire, which allows to register the characteristics of risky behavior in relation to infection and the characteristics of the life situation of the disease. Statistical data processing included the definition of primary statistics, the Fisher criterion, ANOVA.Study results. A frequent occurrence of distorted representations about HIV was noted in all groups. It has been established that people living with HIV and healthy respondents do not differ in the frequency of HIV testing. The features of the life situation of the disease related to the method of the disease transmission were revealed in the study. It has been established that people living with HIV with different infection route differ in the frequency of late HIV diagnosis, the presence of AIDS, refusal of treatment. The results determine the need to increase public awareness of the disease and correct distorted representations about it.

The article deals with the problem of resilience and the study of its relationship with trust in adolescents who find themselves in a difficult life situation. Based on the theoretical analysis, it is revealed that resilience and trust in yourself and others are the most important intrapersonal resources that help teenagers overcome difficult circumstances and build their own life strategy. The paper presents the results of an empirical study aimed at identifying a direct / feedback relationship between resilience and trust in adolescents who find themselves in difficult life situations. The correlation between self-confidence and others ' trust and resilience components (engagement, control, and risk-taking) was revealed. It is established that the resilience of adolescents in difficult life situations is positively associated with self-confidence in the intellectual and professional sphere, and increases due to the strategy of involvement and control. The interest and passion of a teenager in intellectual and professional activities, getting satisfaction from the result, has a positive impact on the development of their resilience and self-confidence. However, there is a negative relationship between the resilience of adolescents and trust in others, which is due to insufficient emotional experience with loved ones. A strong correlation between the level of self-confidence and the resilience component "control" has shown that such teenagers tend to feel in control of what is happening, they choose active activities and struggle, which helps them cope with stress. At the same time, the higher the level of risk acceptance among teenagers as a component of resilience, the more difficult it is for them to trust themselves in establishing relationships with relatives and friends, in solving everyday problems and in organizing leisure and recreation, which negatively affects their internal state in the form of tension, anxiety and discomfort.

Introduction and objective The family is a reliable and permanent source of support for every human being. It is the key link in the welfare system. The aim of the study is to assess parents' attitudes towards the occurrence of a difficult situation resulting from a child's chronic illness. Material and methods The study involved randomly selected parents of children with chronic diseases (N=107). The study was carried out at the Dental Clinic of the 'Little Prince' Children's Hospice in Lublin. Results The study revealed that for parents a difficult life situation is mainly associated with the disability of a family member or a friend, whereas the action approach is the most frequently chosen attitude towards a child's chronic disease. In the examined group of parents, a significant correlation was observed between the age of the parents and the choice of a specific parental attitude towards the child's chronic disease (in terms of intellectual approach). However, no significant correlations were found between the parents' place of residence and the choice of a specific parental attitude towards the chronic disease of a child. Conclusions During the diagnosis of chronically ill children, parents should also be educated in this regard. Therapy and psychological help, as well as directing parents to relevant support groups, organizations or associations, will prove immensely valuable while coping with a difficult life situation.

Background Nearly two-thirds of pregnancies in women with Down syndrome (DS) end in abortion. The aim of the present study was to determine if these high abortion rates might relate to specific characteristics of women with DS, their life situation and the course of pregnancy. Methods In a sample of 351 pregnancies in Switzerland (1998 to 2009), women with DS were compared with women with other forms of intellectual disability (ID) and women without ID, regarding the type of abortion, personal characteristics and pregnancy complications that might increase the probability of abortion. Results All abortions among women with DS were medically induced. In women with DS and ID, abortions were more likely to occur due to unwanted pregnancy than in women without ID. In addition, women with DS and ID were more often diagnosed with fetal complications and maternal health problems. However, no correlation between fetal complications or maternal health problems and pregnancy outcome was found. Conclusions The group differences found do not directly explain the high abortion rates among women with DS. Maternal diagnosis of DS appears to be the most important predictor of abortion. Possible explanations for this finding are discussed.

Sosiaalihuollon sähköisten palveluiden tutkimus on lisääntynyt, mutta vammaisia henkilöitä sähköisten palveluiden käyttäjinä koskevaa tutkimusta on vähän. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan valtavirtateknologioita, kuten tietokoneita ja matkapuhelimia, itsenäisesti käyttävien vammaisten henkilöiden sähköisten vammaispalveluiden (SVP) käyttöä tilannekohtaisen toimijuuden näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on lisätä ymmärrystä vammaisten henkilöiden SVP käyttöön vaikuttavista tekijöistä. Tutkimusaineistona ovat vammaispalveluiden asiakkaina olevien vammaisten henkilöiden teemahaastattelut (n=14). Aineistoa analysoitiin luokittelemalla ja tyypittelemällä. Teoreettisena analyysikehyksenä hyödynnettiin toimijuuden modaliteetti -teoriaa, joka sopii erittelemään toimijuuden muotoutumista yksilöllisten ja ympäristöllisten tekijöiden tilannekohtaisena kudelmana. Analyysin tulos eriytyvistä toimijuuksista on typologia: taidokkaat, potentiaalit, varaukselliset ja pakotetut SVP-käyttäjät. Taidokkaat käyttäjät ovat suvereeneja kehittäjäasiakkaita, jotka hyötyvät monipuolisesta sähköisten palveluiden tarjonnasta. Potentiaalit käyttäjät ovat palvelunkäyttäjäasiakkaita, jotka kaipaavat lisää tietoa ja tukea SVP hyödyntämiseen. Varaukselliset käyttäjät luottavat muita heikommin sekä palveluihin yleisesti että sähköisiin palveluihin. Pakotetut käyttäjät pyrkivät sopeutumaan sähköistyviin palveluihin turvautuen kuitenkin niiden, kuten yleisemminkin palveluiden käytössä, läheisten tukeen. Tutkimuksessa esitetään, että vammaisten henkilöiden SVP käyttöön vaikuttaa henkilön aiemmalle elämänkululle rakentuva nykyinen tilanne kaikkine osatekijöineen, joista lähemmin tarkasteltiin vammaan liittyvän tilanteen sekä vammaispalveluasiakkuuden vakiintuneisuutta tai vakiintumattomuutta. Tulosten perusteella suhteellisen vakaassa tilanteessa elävien vammaisten henkilöiden (taidokkaat ja potentiaalit käyttäjät) myönteinen suhde sähköisiin palveluihin ilmenee SVP runsaampana käyttönä kuin vakiintumattomissa tilanteissa elävillä, joiden suhde palvelujärjestelmään on pulmallisempi ja SVP käyttö vähäisempää (varaukselliset ja pakotetut käyttäjät). Kaikkien tyyppien SVP käyttöä edistäisi palveluiden käytettävyyden, saavutettavuuden ja esteettömyyden kohentaminen, mutta toimia tulisi myös eriyttää huomioiden asiakkaiden SVP-käyttäjätyypit., Research on electronic services has increased, but few studies focus on users with disabilities. From the viewpoint of the situational modalities of agency, the present study focuses on the use of electronic disability services (EDS) by persons who can operate independently with mainstream technologies, such as computers and mobile phones. The objective of this study is to enhance understanding about the contextual elements framing the use of EDS. The data were based on thematic interviews of 14 persons with disabilities who were clients in disability services. Data were categorised and classified, and the modalities of agency approach were used as a theoretical tool in order to reach the individual and contextual elements that construct the diversity of agencies. Based on the analyses, the research participants were defined as experienced, potential, reserved, and forced users of EDS. Experienced EDS users are sovereign, progress-oriented clients who can benefit from a range of electronic services. Potential EDS users are loyal service users who need information and support in utilising EDS. Reserved EDS users lack confidence in social and disability services, including EDS. Finally, forced EDS users try to adapt to electronic services, but they need the assistance of their relatives and significant others in using them. To conclude, we argue that the use of EDS by persons with disabilities builds on these people’s current life situations, which are based on their previous experiences and other contextual factors of which we concentrated on their disability-specific situation and the permanency or non-permanency of their clientship in disability services. According to the results, persons with disabilities who lead a relatively stable life and have a positive attitude toward EDS (experienced and potential EDS users) appear to utilize EDS more than those whose life situation is unstable and whose experiences of disability services are more problematic (reserved and forced EDS users). The latter tend to use EDS remotely and with less enthusiasm than the experienced and potential users. The willingness and ability of persons with disabilities to use EDS could be increased by improving the usability, availability and accessibility of these services, but this should be accomplished in accordance with the needs of these different types of users.

resource’s richness of the personality.The following methods are applied: psychological survey using suchtechniques as personal’s resource questionnaire, personality’s psychologicalresourcefulness questionnaire, diagnostics of existential resources’ indicatorsquestionnaire, virtue and strength of character questionnaire, crisis copingquestionnaire, psychology and personality questionnaire of uncertainty. Methodsof mathematical and statistical analysis such as multivariate analysis, onefactorvariance analysis, cluster analysis, classification analysis, and correlationanalysis have been applied. The study is based on the Bayer model, which turnsthe problem into a solution in which it will be solved.The results of the research: according to the multivariate analysis (factorweight > 0,70), which cumulatively explained 57,1% of the variance in thestudy group, it was found that factor 1 (44,3%) contains such components of resource’s richness as psychological survival resources, psychologicalresourcefulness, psychological well-being, coherence, existential resources,strength of character. The content of the second factor (13%) are the indicatorsof personal resourcefulness and intolerance for uncertainty. Systemic reflectionprevails over quasi-reflection and introspective reflection in individuals withhigh levels of resource’s richness. Changes in the level of resource’s richness aremost due to uncertainty tolerance (rank 100). The inter-correlation betweenpsychological resourcefulness and other components of resource’s richness is theclosest one. Uncertainty intolerance is the most closely related to psychologicalresourcefulness, the components of which are the interpretative codes of thesignificance of an event to man. Psychological survival resources are in onecluster with coherence. The ability of a person to use consciously availableown resources is conditioned by the level of his systemic reflection, which isincorporated into the resource’s richness through psychological resourcefulness.Conclusions. It is not important how many psychological resources a personhas, but whether, he or she knows about them and whether they can applythem according to their life situation. Resource’s richness is characterized as areflexively conditioned ability of a person to self-transformation.

In many post‐socialist countries, there is a strong social ideal that, in order to live a fulfilled life, men and women should have children; thus “childfree” lifestyles are much less popular than in North‐Western Europe. In this article, we explore factors leading to childlessness among men who were mostly socialized under state‐socialist conditions and in the subsequent transition period by analysing 30 in‐depth interviews conducted with heterosexual childless men over 50 in Hungary. Older interviewees who grew up in state socialism followed a standardized life‐course and went through the same life‐course events—including school, work, and, in some cases, childless marriages. However, the political change of 1989–1990 interrupted these standardized life‐courses. Our results show that, besides individual‐level factors, macro‐level factors connected to the political‐economic transition in the early 1990s influenced our interviewees’ pathways to childlessness. In this sense, we can say that the change of policy regime influenced these men’s choices, as in most cases there was a strong interplay between the individual‐ and the macro‐level factors.

The article explores the digital everyday life of recently or currently undocumented migrants in times of Covid‐19 in Finland. It is based on an empirical case study on a collaborative photographic exhibition and workshop including visual images, diaries, interviews, and discussions. The analysis explores the ways in which a photography exhibition and a workshop may depict meaningful moments in digital everyday life as well as open up an understanding of the various vulnerabilities that emerge in the life of the undocumented, as expressed by themselves. The study demonstrates the fundamental importance of communication rights for people in precarious life situations, expressed by themselves in visual images. The insight produced multidimensionally in images, discussions, and interviews illustrates how digital media environment exposes to coerced visibility and requires constant struggle for communicative rights. These struggles take place on the material infrastructural level of devices, chargers, and access, but also on the level of self‐expression and connection on social media platforms. Finally, the article discusses the emancipatory potential of a collaborative exhibition and workshop as a way to encounter and deal with increasingly vulnerable life situations. It points out the relevance of collaborative work as a research method, in providing knowledge from experience as well as space of recognition. publishedVersion

This study explores the relevance of economic factors (e.g., a household’s economic capacity and the prevailing economic context) to understand the relationship between the partnership status and the health of Spanish adult women and men (age 30–59). To do so, it draws on cross-sectional data from the Spanish sample of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) for the years 2005, 2010, and 2015 (i.e., before, during, and after the 2008–2012 economic recession). The results reveal dissimilar patterns of association between partnership status and both the health of, and the economic difficulties faced by Spanish women and men in each of the three years studied. Most notably, the partnership status of Spanish women has a greater impact on their likelihood of experiencing economic difficulties and poor health than does that of their male counterparts. Additionally, women are also more likely to experience economic difficulties during and after the economic recession. The disadvantageous situation of Spanish women in the public sphere is shown to have a negative impact on their ability to cope with the economic difficulties associated with the end of a union and a contextual recession.

Um in Ergänzung zu der Bundesstatistik untergebrachter wohnungsloser Personen erstmals belastbare Zahlen darüber zu erzielen wie viele Menschen in Deutschland ohne Unterkunft auf der Straße oder in behelfsmäßigen Provisorien übernachten oder in verdeckter Wohnungslosigkeit bei Bekannten oder Angehörigen unterkommen, haben die GISS und Kantar Public auf Grundlage eines dreistufigen Stichprobenverfahrens zwischen dem 1. und 7. Februar 2022 eine repräsentative Auswahl von Wohnungslosen in 151 deutschen Städten und Gemeinden befragt. Die Ergebnisse der Befragung wurden in einem mehrstufigen Verfahren gewichtet und auf das gesamte Bundesgebiet hochgerechnet. Die Studie liefert genauere Informationen zu Zusammensetzung und Soziodemografie der beiden Gruppen von Wohnungslosen und zu wichtigen Aspekten ihrer Lebenslage (Dauer der Wohnungslosigkeit, gesundheitliche Beeinträchtigungen und Gewalterfahrungen, Zugang zu Trinkwasser, Nutzung von Einrichtungen der Notunterbringung).

Das Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB), das Bundesinstitut für Bevölkerungsforschung (BiB), das Forschungszentrum des Bundesamts für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF-FZ) und das Sozio-oekonomische Panel (SOEP) am Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW Berlin) haben 11.225 geflüchtete Ukrainerinnen und Ukrainer zwischen August und Oktober 2022 befragt. Die Befragung kann auf die Grundgesamtheit der ukrainischen Geflüchteten, die seit Kriegsausbruch am 24.2.2022 bis zum 8. Juni 2022 nach Deutschland zugezogen sind, hochgerechnet werden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die meisten Geflüchteten wegen der Kriegshandlungen aus der Ukraine geflohen und aufgrund bestehender persönlicher Netzwerke und der Achtung der Menschenrechte nach Deutschland gezogen sind. Rund 80 Prozent der erwachsenen Geflüchteten sind weiblich. Knapp die Hälfte lebt mit minderjährigen Kindern und vier Fünftel ohne Partner oder Partnerin in Deutschland. Gut 70 Prozent verfügen über Hochschul- oder vergleichbare Bildungsabschlüsse. Nur 4 Prozent verfügen über gute oder sehr gute, weitere 14 Prozent über mittlere deutsche Sprachkenntnisse. Allerdings hatte zum Befragungszeitpunkt bereits die Hälfte einen Sprachkurs begonnen oder abgeschlossen. 17 Prozent waren zum Befragungszeitpunkt erwerbstätig. Unter den Erwerbstätigen übten rund 70 Prozent eine qualifizierte Tätigkeit aus. Der Gesundheitszustand der Geflüchteten ist im Durchschnitt gut, die Lebenszufriedenheit aber viel geringer als im deutschen Bevölkerungsdurchschnitt. Gut ein Drittel der Geflüchteten wollen dauerhaft oder für mehrere Jahre in Deutschland bleiben, ebenfalls ein Drittel Deutschland nach Kriegsende wieder verlassen,27 Prozent können noch keine Aussagen über ihre Bleibeabsichten treffen. The Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), the Research Centre of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, and the Socio-Economic Panel at DIW Berlin have surveyed 11,225 Ukrainian refugees in Germany from August to October 2022. The survey can be extrapolated to the refuge population who has arrived since the beginning of the war at February 24, 2022, to June 8, 2022, in Germany. The results show that the majority of refugees from Ukraine report war as the main flight motive, while personal contacts and respect of human rights were the main reasons to choose Germany as a destination. Roughly 80 percent of adult refugees are women. About the half lives together with minor-aged children, about 80 percent without a partner. Some 70 percent have tertiary education degrees. Yet, only 4 percent report good or very good, another 14 percent fair German language proficiency. About 50 percent visits or has already completed a German language class. 17 percent are employed, with some 70 percent of those performing qualified jobs. The health status of the refugee population is good, but life satisfaction well below the German population average. Above one-third of the refugees plans to stay in Germany forever or for several years, about one-third aim to leave Germany by the end of war, while 27 percent are not yet certain about their staying perspectives.

Die Machbarkeitsstudie untersucht, ob und mit welchem Aufwand sich eine Berichterstattung über Formen der Wohnungslosigkeit, die weder durch die neue Bundesstatistik untergebrachter wohnungsloser Personen noch über die ergänzende empirische Erhebung zu wohnungslosen Menschen ohne Unterkunft und zu verdeckt Wohnungslosen erfasst sind, realisieren lässt. Insbesondere waren für Geflüchtete mit anerkanntem Schutzstatus, für Personen, die ohne eigene Wohnung länger als notwendig im Gesundheitssystem oder in Haftanstalten verbleiben, und für Personen in Institutionen des Gewaltschutzes die Möglichkeiten einer Berichterstattung zu prüfen. Darüber hinaus prüfte die Studie Ansatzpunkte für eine Nutzung von Datenbeständen und Statistiken der Mindestsicherungssysteme und Verwaltungsregister und unterbreitet Anregungen für die Berichterstattung über Querschnittsthemen und Vertiefungsstudien.

Hintergrund: In Österreich liegt die Inzidenz von Schlaganfällen bei ca. 25.000 Menschen pro Jahr und gilt als dritthäufigste Todesursache. Im Jahr 2020 entspricht das laut Statistik Austria 4.737 Toten aufgrund zerebrovaskulärer Krankheiten. TIA und MIS gelten als Frühwarnzeichen für zukünftige ischämische Ereignisse. Das Risiko hierfür liegt innerhalb der nächsten zwei Tagen bei 0 - 16,7%. Eine falsche oder unzureichende Behandlung führt häufig zu physischen und psychischen Beeinträchtigungen. Diese können sich negativ auf die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen auswirken. Ziel: Ziel der Arbeit war, das Erleben der neuen Lebenssituation von erwachsenen Betroffenen ab einem Alter von 30 Jahren nach einer TIA bzw. einem MIS bezogen auf die Bereiche „Existenz gefährdende Erfahrungen“, „Lebensstilveränderung“ und „Aufklärung und Information“ zu beschreiben. Methode: Der auf der Methodik nach Green, Johnson, und Adams (2006) beruhende narrative Review beinhaltet eine Literaturrecherche nach Kleibel und Mayer (2011). Diese wurde im Zeitraum von Juli 2021 bis Jänner 2022 in den Datenbanken PubMed®, CINAHL® und Academic Search Elite® durchgeführt. Es wurden elf qualitative Studien und ein Q-methodologisches Design zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage identifiziert. Ergebnisse: Die Lebenssituation der Betroffenen wird von einer TIA oder einem MIS in den Bereichen „Existenz gefährdende Erfahrungen“, „Lebensstilveränderung“ und „Aufklärung und Information“ beeinflusst. Während eine TIA oder ein MIS das Leben der Patient*innen auf einer existentiellen Ebene negativ durch Ängste, Unsicherheiten und Depressionen zu verändern scheint, empfinden sie Lebensstilveränderungen teilweise als unnötig bzw. als unverzichtbar. Die Aufklärung und Information zu Krankheit, Gesundheitsförderung und Prävention wird einheitlich als unzureichend, überfordernd bzw. unverständlich erlebt. Schlussfolgerung: TIA- oder MIS-Betroffene benötigen die Entwicklung eines standardisierten Rahmens zur Optimierung der Versorgung nach dem Ereignis. Pflegekräfte können durch spezifische Aufklärung und Schulung für deren Bedürfnisse sensibilisiert werden, wodurch Betroffene Fähigkeiten erwerben, um langfristigen, negativen Folgen nachhaltig entgegenzuwirken. Pflegepersonal könnte zur Beratung und Aufklärung herangezogen werden und so auf die betroffenen Patient*innen als Individuen in der Primärversorgung besser eingehen. In 2020 this corresponds to 4,737 deaths due to cerebrovascular diseases. TIA and MIS are considered early warning signs of future ischemic events. The risk of subsequent events within the next two days is 0 - 16.7%. Incorrect or inadequate treatment and care often leads to physical and psychological impairments. These can have a negative impact on their quality of life. Aim: The aim of this paper was to describe the experience of the new life situation of adults affected by TIA or MIS aged 30 years and above by focusing on the domains "existence-threatening experiences", "lifestyle changes" and "education and information". Methods: The narrative review is based on the methodology of Green, Johnson, and Adams (2006) and includes a literature research about the work of Kleibel and Mayer (2011). The research was conducted in PubMed® (via Medline), CINAHL® (with fulltext via Ebsco Host), and Academic Search Elite® (with fulltext via Ebsco Host) between July 2021 and January 2022. One Q-Methodology and eleven qualitative studies were identified to answer the research question. Results: The life-situation is affected by TIA or MIS in the categories "existence-threatening experiences", "lifestyle change" and "education and information". TIA or MIS seem to change the life of the affected people negatively on an existential level due to fears, uncertainties, and depression. They perceive lifestyle changes as partly unnecessary, partly indispensable. The education and information are uniformly criticized as insufficient, overwhelming or incomprehensible. Conclusion: People who suffer from TIA or MIS need the development of a standardized framework and models to optimize the care after the event. Caregivers can be made aware of their needs through specific education and training, thus acquiring capacity to sustainably counteract long-term negative consequences. They could be called upon to provide counseling and education, thus responding to those affected as individuals in primary care.

"Hohes Alter in Deutschland" (D80+) ist eine bundesweit repräsentative Querschnittsbefragung der hochaltrigen Menschen in Privathaushalten und in Heimen. Die Studie baut auf dem im Hochaltrigenpanel NRW80+ (Wagner et al., 2018) entwickelten Studienprotokoll und dem interdisziplinär entwickelten Rahmenmodell zur Erklärung von Lebensqualität im hohen Alter (Neise et al., 2019) auf. Die Studie D80+ "Hohes Alter in Deutschland" wird vom Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend (BMFSFJ) für drei Jahre gefördert und gemeinsam vom Cologne Center for Ethics, Rights, Economics, and Social Sciences of Health (ceres) und dem Deutschen Zentrum für Altersfragen (DZA) durchgeführt. A rapid fertility decline observed in Poland since the 1990s has been accompanied by a marked increase in childlessness. This may seem surprising given the high value placed on parenthood in the country. Some evidence exists on how childlessness in Poland relates to biological and situational constraints, but still relatively little is known about how the decision to never have children is made, especially among men. This article contributes to this literature by analysing how the perceived positive and negative consequences of parenthood affect the reproductive intentions of childless women and men of different socioeconomic characteristics in Poland. Using a subsample of childless respondents extracted from the second wave of the Polish Generation and Gender Survey, we examine the interplay between (a) the intention to remain childless, (b) the perceived costs and benefits of having children, included as a unique set of questions in the Polish Generation and Gender Survey (GGS), and (c) respondents’ socioeconomic characteristics (education, employment, household financial situation, and the size of the place of residence). The results suggest that among women both costs and benefits strongly affect the likelihood of intending to remain childless, whereas among men only the benefits matter. While the effects do not depend on any of the socioeconomic characteristics, the probability of not intending to have a child does vary by some of them. Our results indicate the pattern of fertility polarisation already seen in some low‐fertility countries: for the disadvantaged segment of the population, it is increasingly difficult to become parents.

BACKGROUND The off-line extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) procedure requires photosensitization in an external cell therapy laboratory as per the French regulatory requirement. This regulation results in higher time and costs compared with the on-line alternative performed entirely at the patient's bedside. Recently, full in situ execution of the off-line procedure has been implemented in the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital Hemobiotherapy Department (Paris, France). This report summarizes the center's experience regarding the organizational and costs impacts of this change compared with the on-line procedure. MATERIAL AND METHODS ECP was broken down into stages, and several procedures were monitored prospectively in real-life settings. The total costs associated with both procedures were the sum of the fixed costs and variable costs related to all stages of the procedures, nursing-time costs, property costs, and patient-related production loss costs. RESULTS Eight off-line ECP and fourteen on-line ECP procedures were monitored during five consecutive days. Procedure duration was not different (median 137.5 vs 154.0 minutes, P = .29). Times and costs associated with nursing were higher but offset by lower fixed costs of the off-line ECP. Total direct costs per procedure associated with using the off-line ECP were significantly lower than those of the on-line procedure (459.6 ± 7.1 EUR vs 953.8 ± 6.5 EUR; P = .0002). Similar results were observed when including the costs of patient production loss. CONCLUSIONS As a competitive time procedure, the in situ off-line method proved to be cost-efficient by effectively offering similar patient treatment per year compared with the on-line procedure.

For a more precise scientific approach, the article offers a justification of the criteria for attribution to the objects of social work through such a phenomenon as social adaptation (maladjustment). This article reveals the indicators of socio-psychological adaptation (maladjustment) of various population groups. An important indicator of adaptability is life satisfaction. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the level of socio-psychological adaptation of the population (migrants, the unemployed, the disabled and pensioners) and the factors affecting it, as well as socio-psychological technologies for working with various groups of the population in crisis.

The study presented in this article is devoted to the problem of the influence of adults’ perceptions and interpretations of difficult life situations on their coping behavior, which is relevant in conditions of social instability and forced population migration. The study goal is determination of relationship of the social frustration and metaphorical images of difficult life situations with subjects’ coping-strategies. Hypotheses about differences in coping-strategies of individuals, which differ in the severity of social frustration and metaphors of difficult life situations, are formulated and confirmed. Metaphors content analysis and testing are applied. In the study, 101 respondents aged 18—25 (students and employees of enterprises in Rostov-on-Don) took place. The obtained data confirm the existence of interconnections between pronounced social frustration and a decrease in the rationality and adaptability of coping-strategies of the subject. It was established for the first time that the stereotypy-differentiation of metaphorical assessments of difficult life situations by subjects, «distancing» from the situation and its participants, attributing negative qualities to «aliens» and «enemies»/positive properties to «own» people and «friends» are also associated with these parameters of coping-strategies.

Although society has made significant strides toward gender equality, many women still confront situations in which they feel disempowered. Developing skills and abilities that enable women to gain control and take action to improve their life situation is paramount to counteracting the limits that prevent them from challenging their disadvantaged position. This study explored the effect of an all-female canoe camping experience on fostering a sense of empowerment. This study used a phenomenological approach, and eight female college students participated in in-depth posttrip interviews. Interviews provided a means to better understand participants’ experiences from an 8-day canoe camping expedition on the Suwannee River in northern Florida. Findings revealed a number of specific themes including meanings ascribed to empowerment, the power of the single-sex experience, engineering empowering experiences, and benefits beyond the experience. The paper analyses various approaches to the issues of uncertainty as a personal evaluation of different life situations. An evaluation by an individual of the complexity of his/her life situation in general does not correspond to his/her evaluations of life situations in specific life areas. The article determines that the most problematic life areas for an individual are “socio-economic”, “professional” and “own health”. A person’s life satisfaction depends on perception of own life situation as uncertain. Dissatisfaction does not define a situation as uncertain, but any uncertainty causes the dissatisfaction. The article notes that a situation demanding decision-making is the main condition for uncertainty; this is observed especially often in the professional and family spheres, and the least often in the everyday life. Men more often describe a situation as uncertain than women concerning the most life areas. However, men estimate the degree of uncertainty for their life situations far lower than women. The most problematic areas for men are (in decreasing difference with women): the family, personal health and personal-intimate areas, while those for women are everyday life and the socio-economic area. The professional sphere is equally problematic for both genders. Despite these quantitative differences, the structural component, showing the ranks of the life areas as for abundance of problems in them, is almost the same for men and women. That is why there are no gender differences in the structure of uncertain life situations. There are significant age differences as for life situation uncertainty in general, as well as in all specific life spheres. The age factor ambiguously influences uncertainty in human life. Situations are estimated as uncertain more often by youth and less often by 35 year old people. However, the older group of the examined people experience uncertainty essentially more often.
