103. A Comparative Investigation of Single Crystal and Polycrystalline Ni‐Rich NCMs as Cathodes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries.

Abstract

Nickel‐rich LiNi1−x−yCoxMnyO2 (NCM, 1−x−y ≥ 0.6) is known as a promising cathode material for lithium‐ion batteries since its superiority of high voltage and large capacity. However, polycrystalline Ni‐rich NCMs suffer from poor cycle stability, limiting its further application. Herein, single crystal and polycrystalline LiNi0.84Co0.07Mn0.09O2 cathode materials are compared to figure out the relation of the morphology and the electrochemical storage performance. According to the Li+ diffusion coefficient, the lower capacity of single crystal samples is mainly ascribed to the limited Li+ diffusion in the large bulk. In situ XRD illustrates that the polycrystalline and single crystal NCMs show a virtually identical manner and magnitude in lattice contraction and expansion during cycling. Also, the electrochemically active surface area (ECSA) measurement is employed in lithium‐ion battery study for the first time, and these two cathodes show huge discrepancy in the ECSA after the initial cycle. These results suggest that the single crystal sample exhibits reduced cracking, surface side reaction, and Ni/Li mixing but suffers the lower Li+ diffusion kinetics. This work offers a view of how the morphology of Ni‐rich NCM effects the electrochemical performance, which is instructive for developing a promising strategy to achieve good rate performance and excellent cycling stability. Abstract

Lung cancer is a common type of carcinoma and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The two broad histological subtypes of lung cancer are non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which accounts for 85% of cases and includes adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), which accounts for 15% of cases. Substantial improvements in treatment have led to remarkable progress and changed outcomes for many patients in the past two decades. However, with prolonged survival time and awareness of repeat biopsy, more and more patients with lung cancer have been found to undergo a histological transformation during treatment, with lung adenocarcinoma (LAdC) to SCLC transformation being the most frequent. In this article, we summarized findings on the mechanism, clinical characteristics, therapeutic strategies, and predictors of the transformation of LAdC to SCLC. A non-systematic narrative review was performed using the Pubmed/MEDLINE (US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health) database with the following keywords: "transformation from NSCLC to SCLC," "transformation from lung adenocarcinoma to small-cell lung cancer," "NSCLC transformation in SCLC," and "NSCLC and transformation and SCLC." Abstract

Benefiting from the advantageous features of structural diversity and resource renewability, organic electroactive compounds are considered as attractive cathode materials for aqueous Zn‐ion batteries (ZIBs). In this review, we discuss the recent developments of organic electrode materials for aqueous ZIBs. Although the proton (H+) storage chemistry in aqueous Zn‐organic batteries has triggered an overwhelming literature surge in recent years, this topic remains controversial. Therefore, our review focuses on this significant issue and summarizes the reported electrochemical mechanisms, including pure Zn2+ intercalation, pure H+ storage, and H+/Zn2+ co‐storage. Moreover, the impact of H+ storage on the electrochemical performance of aqueous ZIBs is discussed systematically. Given the significance of H+ storage, we also highlight the relevant characterization methods employed. Finally, perspectives and directions on further understanding the charge storage mechanisms of organic materials are outlined. 128. An amino-functionalized metal–organic framework achieving efficient capture–diffusion–conversion of CO2 towards ultrafast Li–CO2 batteries.

Abstract

Li–CO2 batteries provide a promising solution towards global sustainability since they are not only an energy storage device but also a recycling system of CO2 gas. However, Li–CO2 batteries suffer from sluggish diffusion of CO2 and poor electrode kinetics which gives rise to a large charge/discharge overpotential and low energy conversion efficiency. Herein, we design a composite of amino-group functionalized metal–organic framework encapsulated RuO2 nanoparticles (NH2-Cu-MOFs@RuO2). The amino groups on the pore wall help achieve high capture efficiency of CO2 and the ordered pores in the MOFs provide efficient transport channels for CO2/Li+ diffusion. Meanwhile, the synergistic catalytic effect of Cu nodes and RuO2 enables fast conversion of CO2 molecules. Benefitting from the capture–diffusion–conversion synergetic effects, the NH2-Cu-MOFs@RuO2 cathode exhibits a low cut-off overpotential of 1.21 V within a limiting capacity of 100 μA h cm−2 and a high capacity of 2903 μA h cm−2 at a current density of 50 μA cm−2. The rate performance improves significantly when using the NH2-Cu-MOFs@RuO2 as the cathode, where the battery presents a tardy decrease of discharge voltage and a slight increase of charge voltage from a current density of 20 to 1000 μA cm−2 and even retains ∼2.6 V discharge voltage at a high current density of 1000 μA cm−2. Such a functionalized MOF-supported structure suggests a new way to produce efficient catalysts that improve the performance of diffusion-limited applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper presents a method for extracting rice bran oil using magnetic immobilized cellulase (MIC) in a magnetic fluidized bed (MFB). Cellulase was immobilized on Fe3O4/SiOx-g-P (glycydylmethacrylate) with an average grain size of 120 nm. The rice bran was hydrolyzed using MIC combined with magnetic immobilized alkaline protease to extract rice bran oil. Under intermittent conditions, the MIC concentration was 1.6 mg/g, the liquid to material ratio was 4:1, the enzymatic hydrolysis time was 150 min, and the oil yield was as high as 85.6 ± 1.20% at 55 °C. The fluid in the MFB had a magnetic field strength of 0.022 T, a flow velocity of 0.005 m/s, and an oil extraction rate of 90.3%. This provides a theoretical basis for the extraction of rice bran oil using the subsequent MFB hydroenzyme method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
