Les parasitoïdes se développent sur, ou, à l'intérieur d'un hôte qu’ils tuent au cours de leur développement. Ils sont souvent utilisés en lutte biologique car ils ont la capacité de réduire et de contrôler les populations d’organismes considérés comme nuisibles. Nous avons investigué la capacité de la guêpe parasitoïde Telenomus podisi à induire l’avortement des oeufs de son hôte : la punaise exotique Halyomorpha halys. Cette nouvelle association d’espèce ne permet pas à la guêpe de se reproduire, mais elle induit un taux d’avortement des oeufs de l’hôte, néanmoins variable d’une guêpe à l’autre. Nos trois expériences ont permis de déterminer que 1) le taux d’avortement suit la grosseur de l’oeuf, qu’il soit parasité ou non. Que ce taux d’avortement est encore plus important lorsque parasité par des guêpes de plus petite taille. 2) Le taux d'avortement est expliqué à 18.2% par la génétique des guêpes (h2 = 0,182). 3) Il est difficile de générer une population de T. podisi capable d’induire un taux d’avortement élevé après 5 générations de reproduction sélective. Nous ouvrons, par ces résultats, une piste en matière de lutte biologique contre l’insecte ravageur qu’est H. halys. L’utilisation de petites guêpes permettrait de réduire la reproduction de la punaise. Mais aussi, qu’à la lumière du contenu de ce mémoire, un programme de reproduction sélective pourrait être optimisé pour produire des guêpes performantes en matière d’avortement des oeufs de H. halys., Parasitoids develop on, or, inside a host they kill during their development. They are often used in biological control because they have the ability to reduce and control populations of organisms considered harmful. We investigated the ability of the parasitoid wasp Telenomus podisi to induce the abortion of its host eggs: the exotic stink bug Halyomorpha halys. This new species association does not allow the wasp to reproduce, but it induces some abortion of the eggs of the host, nevertheless variable from one wasp to another. Our three experiments have determined that 1) the abortion rate follows the size of the egg, whether parasitized or not. That this abortion rate is even greater when parasitized by smaller wasps 2) The abortion rate is explained to 18.2% by wasp genetics (h2 = 0.182). 3) It is difficult to generate a population of T. podisi capable of inducing a high abortion rate after 5 generations of selective breeding. With these results, we are opening a track in biological control against the pest insect H. halys. The use of small wasps would reduce the stink bug reproduction. But also, at the light of the contents of this thesis, a selective breeding program could be optimized to produce efficient wasps in the abortion of H. halys eggs.

Avian breeders are actually putting in place genomic selection in their selection schemes. One key parameter to optimize selection schemes is to correctly predict the accuracy of genomic evaluation. This paper presents results obtained by comparing accuracy of genetic and genomic evaluations on multiple traits, using several reference populations with different amount of phenotypic informations. Genetic parameters (heritability and genetic correlations) were observed, and found very stable. EBVs and GEBVs accuracies showed that genomic evaluation was each time more accurate than genetic evaluation, especially when phenotypic information was restreint. It was also found that the use of sexual chromosome genotype had a negative impact on traits evaluation for dams (no effect found on sires). In any case, genomic evaluation of breeding birds at birth seems to be a promising strategy for layers.

Dans le cadre du projet ARIAGE, chez le rosier buisson, l’héritabilité des principales composantes architecturales était modérée, laissant entrevoir la possibilité de contrôler l’architecture par l’environnement. Ainsi, deux méthodes culturales ont montré un intérêt pour limiter la hauteur des plantes : la restriction hydrique et la stimulation mécanique. Cependant, cette réponse était dépendante du cultivar. Forest response to the drought increase associated to the climatic warming relies on tree adaptive potential, i.e. the genetic variation and the heritability of adaptive traits involved in resistance to drought. In the first chapter, we identify easy-to-measure proxies of adaptive traits for resistance to drought. We compare the wood microdensity of dead and surviving trees after the 2003 heat wave in France. The most discriminating variables are the mean density of high and low-density segments, high-density proportion and coefficient of variation of the low-density segment. The wood of the surviving trees is always denser and more heterogeneous. If these adaptive traits are variable and heritable, then it is possible to select for improved resistance to drought in the breeding population as well as in natural regeneration. Our results also suggest that directional selection is going on in more or less water-stressed environments. The direction is variable according to the nature of the selection pressure in the different regions. In the Chapter II, we estimate the evolutionary potential to drought of the introduced Douglas-fir in France. This evolutionary potential relies on the magnitude of the genetic variation and of the heritability of the adaptive traits found in the first chapter. The heritability and the genetic variation are highly variable between provenances, sites and, to a much lower extent, between annual rings. Most variables have moderate to high heritability estimates for at least some provenances in some sites. Some traits tend to have generally higher heritability and genetic variation estimates. These are mostly variables of the density part of the annual ring. The variables having at the same time relatively high estimates of heritability and genetic variation are good candidates for becoming efficient selection traits for resistance to drought in tree breeding as well as in natural regeneration. The significant between-site variation suggests that the heritability estimates increase with site quality. The estimates are also significantly different between provenances with a strong provenance × site interaction. Conversely there is little significant between annual-ring variation. The chapter II takes advantage of the annual-ring variation to study the relationships between the genetic parameter estimates and climatic and soil variables. The heritability and genetic variation estimates of most variables significantly relates with most tested environmental variables. Very few variables never correlates with any environmental variable. The significant relationships are very variable between traits, provenances and sites. The most important predictors are temperature, evapotranspiration, and soil water reserve and water deficit. Rainfall marginally influences the genetic parameter estimates. Generally, the better the growing conditions, the higher the estimates. All components of the experimental trials affect the genetic parameters estimates. Thus, the choice of the plant material and of the experimental site strongly determines the genetic parameter estimates. The uncontrolled climatic variation may randomly affect the estimates.; La réponse des arbres à l'augmentation des sécheresses liées au réchauffement climatique dépend de leur capacité d'adaptation, c’est-à-dire de la variation génétique et de l’héritabilité de caractères adaptatifs impliqués dans la résistance à la sécheresse. Dans le chapitre I, nous identifions des proxys facilement mesurables de caractères adaptatifs impliqués dans la résistance à la sécheresse en comparant la microdensité du bois d’individus morts et survivants après la sécheresse de 2003. Les variables les plus discriminantes sont les densités moyennes de segments de haute et basse densité, la proportion du segment de haute densité et le coefficient de variation du segment de haute densité. Les arbres survivants ont toujours une densité plus élevée et des profils généralement plus hétérogènes. Si ces traits sont suffisamment variables génétiquement et héritables, alors il est possible de sélectionner des arbres plus résistants à la sécheresse dans les populations d'amélioration et dans les peuplements forestiers destinés à être régénérées naturellement. Nos résultats suggèrent qu’une sélection naturelle directionnelle pour la densité du bois du douglas se produit dans des environnements plus ou moins limités en eau. Cette sélection agit dans des directions différentes selon les caractéristiques des pressions de sélections subies dans les régions étudiées. Dans le chapitre II, nous évaluons le potentiel d’adaptation à la sécheresse du douglas introduit en France. Ce potentiel d’adaptation dépend de la variation génétique et de l'héritabilité des caractères adaptatifs mis en évidence dans le chapitre I. Nous trouvons une grande variabilité des estimations d’héritabilité et d’AGCV entre variables, provenances, sites et, dans une faible mesure, entre cernes annuels. La plupart des variables possèdent des héritabilités élevées à assez élevées au moins pour certaines provenances dans certains sites. Certaines variables tendent à avoir des héritabilités et AGCV généralement plus élevées : ce sont plutôt des variables de la partie de faible densité du cerne. Certaines variables de résistance à la sécheresse possèdent à la fois une héritabilité et une AGCV élevées : ce sont de bons critères de sélection pour la résistance à la sécheresse en amélioration génétique ou en régénération naturelle. Les estimations différentes entre sites suggèrent que les estimations d’héritabilités augmentent avec le caractère favorable du milieu. Les estimations sont significativement différentes entre provenances, avec de forts effets d’interaction avec les sites. En revanche il y a peu ou pas de différences significatives entre cernes. Dans le chapitre III, nous avons tenu compte de la variation associée aux cernes de croissance pour étudier les relations entre les estimations annuelles de paramètres génétiques et des variables climatiques et édaphiques. Les estimations d'héritabilité et de variation génétique de la plupart des variables de microdensité sont corrélées significativement avec la plupart des variables environnementales testées. De rares variables n’ont montré aucune corrélation significative dans aucun cas. Les caractéristiques des relations significatives sont variables entre les caractères, les sites et les provenances. Les prédicteurs climatiques les plus importants sont la température, l'évapotranspiration, la réserve en eau du sol et le déficit en eau. Les précipitations affectent peu l´estimation des paramètres génétiques. De façon générale, meilleures sont les conditions de croissance, plus élevées sont les estimations. Toutes les composantes des essais expérimentaux modifient les estimations des paramètres génétiques. Certaines peuvent être fortement déterminées par le choix du matériel végétal et du site. D'autres, comme la variation climatique temporelle, sont moins contrôlées et peuvent affecter de façon plus ou moins aléatoire les estimations.

This study aims at estimating the genetic variability of weight criteria measured on 23-days-old rabbits in the line C Hycole. A total of 3521 litters were measured between 2013 and 2017. After birth, the maximum number of kits left in the nest was 9 for 1st farrowing (MB) does and 11 for the 2nd and the 3rd MB of does. No rabbit was fostered, only supernumerary rabbits were removed. Heritability values estimated for the traits were 0.05 for the mean weight, 0.18 for total litter weight, 0.04 for the lightest kit within the litter, 0.06 for the heaviest kit within the litter, 0.06 for the range between the heaviest and lightest kits in the litter and 0.07 for the number of rabbits alive. Total litter weight at 23 days showed favorable genetic correlations with both the number of young rabbits present 23d after farrowing and their mean weight. The range in kit weights had a low heritability but selection on this criterion seem to impact favorably potential for survival of young rabbits between birth and weaning., Cette étude s’est attachée à déterminer l’existence d’un déterminisme génétique pour différents caractères de poids des lapereaux à 23 jours dans la lignée C Hycole. L’échantillon analysé comporte 3521 portées contrôlées entre 2013 et 2017. Le nombre maximum de lapereaux laissés au nid était de 9 en 1ère mise-bas (MB) et de 11 en MB 2 et 3. Aucun lapereau n’a été ajouté dans les portées, seuls les lapereaux surnuméraires ont été retirés. L’héritabilité des caractères était de 0,05 pour le poids moyen du lapereau, 0,18 pour le poids total de la portée, 0,04 pour le poids du lapereau le plus léger de la portée, 0,06 pour le poids du lapereau le plus lourd, 0,06 pour l’amplitude de poids entre le lapereau le plus lourd et le lapereau le plus léger, et 0,07 pour le nombre de nés vivants. Le caractère poids de la portée à 23 jours présente des corrélations génétiques favorables avec le nombre de lapereaux présents 23 jours après la naissance ainsi qu’avec leur poids moyen. Le caractère amplitude de poids présente une héritabilité faible (h²=0,06) mais une sélection sur ce critère semblerait avoir un impact favorable sur la capacité de survie des lapereaux entre la mise-bas et le sevrage.

Genetic parameters and trends were estimated for the selection criteria weight at 70 days (P70), carcass yield (RC) and resistance to infectious diseases (TI) in the paternal commercial line AGP59 of the Hypharm breeding company. The TI criteria is a binary trait based on presence (1) or absence (0) of clinical signs of disease systematically observed on all growing animals at 70 days weighing or on animals which died between weaning and weighing This study included 39726 selection candidates and 5372 slaughtered collaterals, measured between 2008 and 2016. All animals were weighed at 70 days. Clinical signs of disease were systematically recorded for all weighed animals and also for those which died between weaning and the end of the growing period. The population of collateral is created at each weaning by collecting young rabbits in primiparous does litters. Their live weight and carcass weight was recorded at 71 days of age. Heritabilities and genetic trends were estimated using Reml and Blup methodology. Heritability estimates were 0.28 ± 0.02, 0.44 ± 0.05 and 0.03 ± 0.01 for P70, RC and TI, respectively. The annual genetic gain, estimated in genetic standard deviation (traits units) was 0.49 (92 g), 0.32 (0.38 points of carcass yield) and -0.12 (-0.004 points of sick animal frequency) for P70, RC and TI, respectively. The results demonstrate that selection for both production and health traits is possible., Les paramètres et les évolutions génétiques des critères de sélection poids à 70 jours (P70), rendement de carcasse (RC) et résistance aux troubles infectieux (TI) ont été estimés dans la lignée paternelle AGP59 du sélectionneur Hypharm. L’étude a porté sur 39726 animaux candidats à la sélection et 5372 collatéraux abattus, contrôlés entre 2008 et 2016. L’ensemble des animaux a été pesé à 70 jours. Les signes cliniques de maladie sont systématiquement enregistrés pour l’ensemble des animaux à la pesée à 70 jours, ainsi que pour les animaux morts entre le sevrage et la fin de l’engraissement. La population de collatéraux est créée à chaque sevrage par prélèvement de 4 lapereaux chez les lapines primipares. Leur poids vif et leur poids de carcasse sont enregistrés après abattage à 71 jours. L’héritabilité et les évolutions génétiques des caractères ont été estimées par les méthodes du Reml et du BLUP. Les héritabilités estimées étaient respectivement de 0,28 ± 0,02, 0.44 ± 0.05 et 0.03 ± 0.01 pour P70, RC et TI. Le progrès génétique annuel moyen estimé en unités d’écart type génétique (unités du caractère) était respectivement de 0,49 (+92 g), 0,32 (+0,38 point de rendement) et -0,12 (-0,004 points de fréquence d’animaux malades) pour P70, RC et TI. Il est donc possible d’améliorer simultanément des caractères de production et des caractères de santé par la sélection.

National audience; Genetic parameters for 21-day litter weight (LW21) and thigh muscle volume (TMV) were estimated, and a twotrait selection index was created to simplify the selection process of the Pannon white breed, in Kaposvár, Hungary. A total of 22002 LW21 and 8124 TMV (estimated with Computer Tomography) records were collected between 1992 and 2016. The evaluated animals were reared in 4178 litters and the total number of rabbits involved in the pedigree file were 14 124. The traditional selection based on two steps, where LW21 was first measured and then the best litters were selected for the next step, the CT measurement for TMV. In the new selection method a selection index was used in the first step of the selection, followed by a CT examination. LW21 and TMV were analyzed jointly in a two-trait animal model which was used to estimate the variance components and the breeding values. The estimated heritability was 0.10±0.01 for LW21 and 0.21±0.02 for TMV. The estimated genetic correlation between these traits was -0.24±0.07. The contribution of the measured traits was set to 50-50% in the breeding objective. The developed index was applied on a given kindling batch. The selection index ranks, showed stronger correlation (0.84) with TMV then with LW21 (0.28) breeding value ranks. Selecting on the developed index score resulted in choosing rabbits with somewhat lower breeding values on LW21 (-200 g, i.e. -11,3 but higher breeding values in TMV (1,91 cm3, i.e. +3 %) compared to the current breeding program.; Un objectif de sélection combinant le poids de portée à 21 jours (LW21) et le volume musculaire de la cuisse (TMV) a été créé pour simplifier le processus de sélection de la lignée Pannon White à Kaposvár, en Hongrie. L'héritabilité estimée était de 0,10±0,01 pour LW21 et de 0,21±0,02 pour TMV. La corrélation génétique estimée entre ces caractères était de -0,24±0,07. La même pondération de 50 % a été attribuée à chacun des deux caractères dans le nouvel objectif de sélection. Ce nouvel objectif de sélection a été appliqué à une bande en particulier. Cette nouvelle méthode a été comparée à l’ancienne méthode de sélection en deux étapes (avec une première étape de sélection sur l’index de LW21 et une deuxième étape de sélection sur TMV). L’index était plus corrélé avec les valeurs génétiques de TMV (0,84) qu’aux valeurs génétiques de LW21 (0,28). La sélection sur la valeur du nouvel objectif de sélection a permis de choisir des lapins avec des valeurs légèrement inférieures pour LW21 (-200 g, soit -11,3 %) mais avec des valeurs plus élevées pour TMV (1,91 cm3, soit +3 %) comparativement au programme de sélection actuel.

A second generation cross between broiler lines divergently selected on their digestive efficiency has been usedto study the relationships between the composition of cecal microbiota and digestive efficiency. The compositionof cecal microbiota (amount of Lactobacillus, L. salivarius, L. crispatus, C. coccoides, C. leptum and E. coli pergram of cecal content) has been determined on 144 animals with contrasted feed and digestive efficiency (poorefficiency group : FCR=2.02, AMEn=2936 kcal/kg DM ; high efficiency group : FCR=1.41 ; AMEn=3444kcal/kg DM ) at 3 weeks. At the phenotypic level, a multiple linear regression has been done to estimate whichpart of the variability of digestive efficiency was due to microbiota composition. At the genetic level, weestimated the heritability of the composition of microbiota and detected genomic regions controlling thecomposition of microbiota (QTL), using 3379 SNP markers. Poorly efficient animals had 1.66 moreLactobacillus, 2.88 times more L. salivarius and 2.56 times more E. coli than efficient animals. Multiple linearregressions indicated that the composition of microbiota explains 19 to 22% of variability of digestive efficiency.We also showed that there is a partial genetic control of the composition of microbiota in chickens. The ratios ofL. crispatus, C. leptum or C. coccoides to E. coli exhibited a significant heritability (0.16-0.24). Moreover, wealso detected 14 QTL controlling microbiota composition, mostly for C. leptum and Lactobacillus. These QTLregions co-localise with QTL for feed intake, feeding behaviour (length of meals), anatomy of digestive tract(weight and length of ileum) and immunity.; Un croisement de deuxième génération entre deux lignées divergentes de poulets de chair sélectionnés sur leurefficacité digestive a permis l’étude des relations entre composition du microbiote caecal et efficacité digestive.La composition du microbiote caecal (quantité de Lactobacillus, L. salivarius, L. crispatus, C. coccoides, C.leptum et E. coli par gramme de contenu caecal) a été déterminée sur 144 animaux présentant une efficacitéalimentaire et digestive faible (IC = 2.02, EMAn = 2936 kcal/kg MS) ou forte (IC = 1.41, EMAn = 3444 kcal/kgMS) à 3 semaines. Au niveau phénotypique, une régression linéaire multiple a été réalisée afin de déterminerquelle part de la variabilité de l’efficacité digestive était due à la composition du microbiote. Au niveaugénétique, nous avons estimé l’héritabilité de la composition du microbiote et détecté les zones du génome dupoulet contrôlant la composition du microbiote (QTL) à partir de 3379 marqueurs SNP. Les animaux peuefficaces présentent 1.66 fois plus de plus de Lactobacillus, 2.88 fois plus de L. salivarius et 2.56 fois plus d’E.coli que les animaux efficaces. Des régressions linéaires multiples montrent que la composition du microbioteexplique 19 à 22% de la variabilité de l’efficacité digestive. Nous avons également déterminé qu’il existait chezle poulet un contrôle génétique partiel de la composition du microbiote. En effet, les ratios entre L. crispatus, C.leptum ou C. coccoides et E. coli présentent une héritabilité significative (0.16-0.24). Par ailleurs, nous avonségalement détecté 14 QTL contrôlant la composition du microbiote, impliquant essentiellement C. leptum etLactobacillus. Ces zones QTL co-localisent avec des QTL de consommation et de comportement alimentaire(durée des repas), d’anatomie du tube digestif (poids et longueur de l’iléon) et de l’immunité.

National audience; Pour caractériser le déterminisme génétique de l’adaptation à la chaleur chez le porc en croissance, 1253 animaux backcross (1/4 lignée Créole, 3/4Large White) ont été élevés dans des conditions classiques d’élevage en milieu tempéré (TEMP : n=601 sur 11 bandes) ou tropical (TROP : n=652 sur 12 bandes). Les caractères de production ont été mesurés entre 11 et 23 semaines d’âge, et les températures rectales (TR) et cutanées (TC) à 19, 21 et 23 semaines d’âge, pour évaluer les capacités de thermorégulation des porcs. L’héritabilité de la TR est faible (TEMP h²= 0,16 ± 0,06, TROP h² = 0,10 ± 0,04). L’héritabilité de la TC est différente entre les deux environnements (TEMP h² = 0,12 ± 0,03 ; TROP h² = 0,36 ± 0,14) avec une corrélation génétique entre les deux environnements fortement négative (- 0,64 ± 0,03). Concernant les caractères de production, l’héritabilité du gain d’épaisseur de lard est plus élevée en TROP (h² = 0,21 ± 0,04) qu’en TEMP ( h² = 0,11 ± 0,03). Les corrélations génétiques de la TC avec le poids vif à 23 semaines d’âge et l’épaisseur de lard dorsal sont positives en TEMP alors qu’elles sont négatives en TROP. Les mécanismes engagés pour dissiper la chaleur ou pour la croissance, en partie sous contrôle génétique, seraient différents entre environnements.

Le tempérament (la personnalité) d'un cheval est ce qu'on appelle communémment son caractère.Les études qui visent à mesurer objectivement le tempérament des chevaux sont de plus en plus nombreuses et elles permettent de mieux comprendre les relations entre tempérament et utilisation.

Phosphorylation of caseins (CN) is a crucial post-translational modification allowing caseins to aggregate as micelles. The formation and stability of casein micelles are important for transporting abundant minerals to the neonate and manufacturing of dairy products. Therefore, it is of great interest to explore variation in degrees of phosphorylation of caseins and study to what extent genetic and other factors contribute to this variation. This thesis aimed to investigate the genetic background of bovine milk protein composition with a focus on phosphorylation of αs1- and αs2-CN. Thus, two studies were conducted to quantify phosphorylation levels of αs1- and αs2-CN: one in French Montbéliarde (FM) using liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and the other in Dutch Holstein Friesian (DHF) using capillary zone electrophoresis. In FM, in addition to the known isoforms αs1-CN-8P and-9P and αs2-CN-10P to -13P, three new phosphorylation isoforms were detected, namely αs2-CN-9P, αs2-CN-14P, and αs2-CN-15P. Relative concentrations of the phosphorylation isoforms varied considerably among cows. Phenotypic correlations showed that isoforms phosphorylated at higher degrees (αs1-CN-9P and αs2-CN-12P to -14P) correlated negatively with isoforms phosphorylated at lower degrees (αs1-CN-8P, αs2-CN-10P, and -11P). Furthermore, it was shown that αs1- and αs2-CN phosphorylation profiles changed across parity and lactation, and exploitable genetic variation for the phosphorylation degrees of αs1- and αs2-CN (defined as the proportion of higher-degree isoforms in αs1- and αs2-CN, respectively) exists in FM. In DHF, three αs2-CN isoforms, namely αs2-CN-10P to -12P, and the phosphorylation degrees of αs1- and αs2-CN were quantified. High intra-herd heritabilities were estimated for individual αs2-CN phosphorylation isoforms and the phosphorylation degrees of αs1- and αs2-CN (ranging from 0.54 to 0.89). This suggests that genetic factors contribute substantially to observed differences in αs1- and αs2-CN phosphorylation profiles. The correlation between the phosphorylation degrees of αs1- and αs2-CN was 0.94. Additionally, a total of 10 regions, distributed across Bos taurus autosomes (BTA) 1, 2, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 18, 24 and 28, were detected to be associated with individual αs1- and αs2-CN phosphorylation isoforms and their phosphorylation degrees in DHF. Regions on BTA1, 6, 11 and 14 were associated with multiple traits studied. Two quantitative trait loci (QTL) regions were detected on BTA1: one affecting αs2-CN production, and the other affecting αs1-CN PD and αs2-CN PD. The QTL region on BTA6 affected only individual αs2-CN isoforms. The QTL region on BTA11 and 14 affected relative concentrations of αs2-CN-10P and αs2-CN-11P, αs1-CN PD and αs2-CN PD. Results suggested that effects of identified genomic regions on αs1-CN PD and αs2-CN PD are probably due to changes in milk synthesis and phosphorus secretion in milk. Finally, differences among studies due to factors such as analytical methods, trait definitions, and breed on genetic parameters and correlations are discussed using the two dataset from this thesis. It is concluded that differences in heritability estimates for αs1-CN-8P and -9P, αs2-CN-10P, -11P and -12P, and αs1-CN PD between FM and DHF were mainly due to genetic differences between breeds. As for αs2-CN PD, it was defined differently in FM and DHF due to analytical methods used. It is shown that both trait definitions successfully quantified the proportion of isoforms with higher degrees of phosphorylation because of similar estimated correlations using both definitions on the FM dataset. Additionally, it is hypothesized that a two-casein-kinase system is involved in the phosphorylation of αs1- and αs2-CN based on results in this thesis.; La phosphorylation des caséines (CN) est une modification post-traductionnelle qui permet l’aggrégation des caséines sous formes de micelles. La stabilité de ces structures est essentielle pour transporter les minéraux au nouveau-né et fabriquer des produits laitiers. Il est par conséquent fondamental d'explorer la variation du degré de phosphorylation (PD) des CN, et d'étudier dans quelle mesure les facteurs génétiques contribuent à cette variation. Cette thèse visait à étudier le contexte génétique de la composition des protéines du lait de vache, en mettant l'accent sur la phosphorylation des CN αs1 et αs2. Deux études ont été menées pour analyser leur niveau de phosphorylation : la première en race Montbéliarde française (FM), en utilisant la chromatographie liquide couplée à la spectrométrie de masse à ionisation par électro-nébulisation et l'autre en race Holstein Friesian néerlandaise (DHF), en utilisant l’électrophorèse capillaire de zone. En race FM, en plus des isoformes connues : αs1-CN-8P et -9P, de αs2-CN-10P à -13P, trois nouvelles isoformes ont été détectées (αs2-CN-9P, αs2-CN-14P et αs2-CN-15P). Les concentrations relatives de ces isoformes variaient considérablement entre vaches. Les corrélations phénotypiques ont montré que les isoformes phosphorylées aux degrés les plus élevés (αs1-CN-9P, de αs2-CN-12P à -14P) étaient corrélées négativement avec les isoformes phosphorylées à des degrés inférieurs (αs1-CN-8P, αs2-CN-10P et -11P). En outre, les profils de phosphorylation des CN αs1 et αs2 changent avec la parité et le stade de lactation, et il est possible d’exploiter en FM la variation génétique du PD de ces caséines (définie comme la proportion d'isoformes ayant les taux de phosphorylation les plus élevés). En DHF, nous avons quantifié 3 isoformes d’αs2-CN, à savoir αs2-CN-10P, -11P, et -12P et les PD des CN αs1 et αs2. Des héritabilités intra-troupeau élevées ont été estimées pour les isoformes de phosphorylation d'αs2-CN et les PD des CN αs1 et αs2 (comprise entre 0,54 et 0,89). Ceci suggère que des facteurs génétiques contribuent substantiellement aux différences observées dans les profils de phosphorylation de ces CN. La correlation entre les degrés de phosphorylation de αs1-CN et d’αs2-CN était de 0,94. Nous avons montré que 10 régions, réparties sur les autosomes BTA1, 2, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 18, 24 et 28, sont associées aux isoformes de phosphorylation des CN αs1 et αs2 et leurs PD en DHF. Les régions sur BTA1, 6, 11 et 14 étaient associées à plusieurs caractères étudiés. Deux régions quantitative trait loci (QTL) ont été détectées sur BTA1 : l'une affectant la production d'αs2-CN et l'autre le PD des deux CN. La région QTL localisée sur BTA6 affectait uniquement les isoformes d'αs2-CN. Les régions QTL situées sur BTA11 et BTA14 influencent les concentrations relatives en αs2-CN-10P et -11P, et les PD des CN αs1 et αs2. Ces résultats suggèrent que les effets des régions génomiques identifiées impactant les PD sont probablement dus à des modifications de biosynthèse des constituants du lait et à la sécrétion de phosphore dans le lait. Enfin, les différences observées sur les paramètres génétiques estimés et les corrélations, sont discutées sur la base de l'ensemble des données issues des deux études décrites dans cette thèse. En conclusion, les différences observées sur les estimations d'héritabilité entre FM et DHF semblent principalement dues à des composantes génétiques. Quant au PD de l'αs2-CN, il a été défini différemment en FM et en DHF, en raison des méthodes analytiques. Il a été possible de quantifier avec succès la proportion d'isoformes présentant des degrés de phosphorylation élevés, en raison de la similitude dans les corrélations estimées avec les deux définitions aux données de FM. Finalement, sur la base des résultats présentés dans cette thèse, nous avons émis l'hypothèse qu'un système comportant deux caséines-kinases puisse être impliqué dans la phosphorylation des CN αs1 et αs2.

Genetic parameters for carcass and fillet percentage were estimated in 760 European sea bass reared under commercial conditions and slaughtered at 573 days post fertilization (395 g mean body weight). Phenotyped fish were the offspring of 45 sires and 20 dams crossed in a factorial mating design. Pedigrees were re-constructed with 90.7% success using 12 microsatellites. The heritability of fillet yield was moderately low (0.21), while it was high for carcass yield (0.57). Both traits were poorly correlated (− 0.01 to 0.28) making space for their combined improvement. We investigated different predictors derived from measurement of surfaces on digital pictures and ultrasound measurements at several points of the body. The accuracy of the phenotypic prediction was rather low for fillet yield (r2 = 0.02–0.18), but higher for carcass yield (r2 = 0.27–0.41). However, genetic correlations of predictors with the traits to predict were reasonably high (up to 0.67 for fillet yield and 0.95 for carcass yield), thus allowing to consider them for performing indirect individual selection instead of sib selection. However, it was difficult to design a predictor that would simultaneously increase fillet yield and carcass yield because of contradicting effects of relative head size, an important component of the predictors which was positively correlated to carcass yield but not to fillet yield. Statement of relevance We estimated phenotypic predictors for processing yields in the European sea basslane estimated their genetic variation and correlations with the traits to predict. This is important to be able to apply indirect selection for processing yields in this species. This showed that although the traits of interest were hardly correlated, it was not possible to find external predictors having a significant positive impacts on both traits (carcass and fillet yield) simultaneously. This highlights the need to study specifically these issues in different species and conditions, as the picture here is very different to the well studied case of rainbow trout for example.

Chapitre 2; Populations of fish and shellfish show a wide variability in their ability to tolerate or resist infectious diseases. For most species and diseases studied to date, a significant component of this variability is genetically determined, heritable, and affected by many genes. Quantitative genetic and animal breeding principles, accounting for the unique biology and culture conditions for aquatic species, can therefore be applied to produce populations with greater resistance or tolerance, and great progress has been made so far. High-throughput sequencing, genomic selection, and other new technologies or methodologies have great potential for improving accuracy and speeding the rate of genetic improvement of disease resistance, identifying genes with potential immune function and increasing knowledge about mechanisms affecting immunity. By reducing the overall impact of disease on farm economics, and reducing reliance on antibiotics and chemical treatments, genetic improvement strategies are of key importance for the future sustainability of world aquaculture.

Cultured pearl production in the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera represents the second largest source of revenue after tourism, and it is the top export industry in French Polynesia. One of pearl farming industry’s greatest challenges is to “produce fewer but better pearls” through genetic improvement. To address this challenge, the genetic determinism of pearl quality traits and how they vary at different phenotypic scales was studied. The respective roles of donors and recipients was explored through uniform experimental grafts and revealed a positive correlation between recipient shell biometric parameters and pearl size, and a donor effect on pearl quality traits. Gene expression analyses of 8 biomineralisation biomarkers, encoding aragonitic and prismatic proteins, highlights a correlation between pearl sac gene expression with pearl quality traits and recipient shell biometric parameters. The age of the donor oyster also played a determining role with respect to the size phenotype and for grade and surface defects of the pearl. Finally, the heritability values of the phenotype were estimated for the first time for this species using an animal model on a family produced in a hatchery setting. Results show a linear genetic transmission and overall, suggest that the recipient oyster primarily controls the size of the pearls while the donor oyster influences the quality., La production de perle de culture par l’huître perlière Pinctada margaritifera représente la seconde ressource économique après le tourisme en Polynésie Française. L’une des voies d’amélioration privilégiée de la qualité de production passe par la voie de la sélection génétique. Dans ce contexte, le déterminisme génétique des caractères d’intérêt perlicole et leurs variations à différentes échelles phénotypiques a été étudié. Les rôles respectifs de l’huître donneuse et de la receveuse, au travers de greffes expérimentales, ont révélées une corrélation positive entre les paramètres de croissance des coquilles de receveuses et la taille des perles, ainsi qu’un effet donneuse sur la qualité de la perle. Les analyses d'expressions de huit biomarqueurs de biominéralisation, codant des protéines des couches aragonitiques ou prismatiques, ont révélé une corrélation entre l’expression de ces gènes au niveau du sac perlier avec à la fois les paramètres de qualité des perles et de croissance des receveuses. L’âge de l’huître donneuse de greffon semble jouer un rôle déterminant aussi bien au niveau des phénotypes de la taille que pour le grade et les défauts de surface de la perle. Enfin, les valeurs d'héritabilité des phénotypes ont été estimées pour la première fois chez l'espèce, au travers de modèle animal utilisant des familles produites en écloserie. Globalement, les résultats montrent une transmission génétique linéaire et schématiquement on peut dire que les receveuses contrôlent principalement la croissance et la taille des perles, alors que les donneuses influencent leur qualité.

To study the genetic determinism of propagation by cutting, 2,115 individuals of 83 full-sib families of the Eucalyptus urophylla × Eucalyptus grandis hybrid were used as stock plants and propagated by cuttings. Shoot production (PROD) and cutting success (CUT) were measured in two periods corresponding to the dry and rainy seasons. The experiments showed a significant effect of propagation period, suggesting the combined influence of environmental conditions and physiological state of stock plants. Using the linear mixed model (LMM) and the generalized one (GLMM) to take into account the non-normal distribution, the additive and dominance variances were estimated. They were significantly different from zero for PROD and CUT, as was the interaction between genetic effects and periods. The dominance variance was equal or higher than additive variance for both traits (1

Forest response to the drought increase associated to the climatic warming relies on tree adaptive potential, i.e. the genetic variation and the heritability of adaptive traits involved in resistance to drought. In the first chapter, we identify easy-to-measure proxies of adaptive traits for resistance to drought. We compare the wood microdensity of dead and surviving trees after the 2003 heat wave in France. The most discriminating variables are the mean density of high and lowdensity segments, high-density proportion and coefficient of variation of the lowdensity segment. The wood of the surviving trees is always denser and more heterogeneous. If these adaptive traits are variable and heritable, then it is possible to select for improved resistance to drought in the breeding population as well as in natural regeneration. Our results also suggest that directional selection is going on in more or less water-stressed environments. The direction is variable according to the nature of the selection pressure in the different regions. In the Chapter II, we estimate the evolutionary potential to drought of the introduced Douglas-fir in France. This evolutionary potential relies on the magnitude of the genetic variation and of the heritability of the adaptive traits found in the first chapter. The heritability and the genetic variation are highly variable between provenances, sites and, to a much lower extent, between annual rings. Most variables have moderate to high heritability estimates for at least some provenances in some sites. Some traits tend to have generally higher heritability and genetic variation estimates. These are mostly variables of the density part of the annual ring. The variables having at the same time relatively high estimates of heritability and genetic variation are good candidates for becoming efficient selection traits for resistance to drought in tree breeding as well as in natural regeneration. The significant between-site variation suggests that the heritability estimates increase with site quality. The estimates are also significantly different between provenances with a strong provenance × site interaction. Conversely there is little significant between annual-ring variation. The chapter III takes advantage of the annual-ring variation to study the relationships between the genetic parameter estimates and climatic and soil variables. The heritability and genetic variation estimates of most variables significantly relates with most tested environmental variables. Very few variables never correlates with any environmental variable. The significant relationships are very variable between traits, provenances and sites. The most important predictors are temperature, evapotranspiration, and soil water reserve and water deficit. Rainfall marginally influences the genetic parameter estimates. Generally, the better the growing conditions, the higher the estimates. All components of the experimental trials affect the genetic parameters estimates. Thus, the choice of the plant material and of the experimental site strongly determines the genetic parameter estimates. The uncontrolled climatic variation may randomly affect the estimates.; La réponse des arbres à l'augmentation des sécheresses liées au réchauffement climatique dépend de leur capacité d'adaptation, c’est-à-dire de la variation génétique et de l’héritabilité de caractères adaptatifs impliqués dans la résistance à la sécheresse. Dans le chapitre I, nous identifions des proxys facilement mesurables de caractères adaptatifs impliqués dans la résistance à la sécheresse en comparant la microdensité du bois d’individus morts et survivants après la sécheresse de 2003. Les variables les plus discriminantes sont les densités moyennes de segments de haute et basse densité, la proportion du segment de haute densité et le coefficient de variation du segment de haute densité. Les arbres survivants ont toujours une densité plus élevée et des profils généralement plus hétérogènes. Si ces traits sont suffisamment variables génétiquement et héritables, alors il est possible de sélectionner des arbres plus résistants à la sécheresse dans les populations d'amélioration et dans les peuplements forestiers destinés à être régénérées naturellement. Nos résultats suggèrent qu’une sélection naturelle directionnelle pour la densité du bois du douglas se produit dans des environnements plus ou moins limités en eau. Cette sélection agit dans des directions différentes selon les caractéristiques des pressions de sélections subies dans les régions étudiées. Dans le chapitre II, nous évaluons le potentiel d’adaptation à la sécheresse du douglas introduit en France. Ce potentiel d’adaptation dépend de la variation génétique et de l'héritabilité des caractères adaptatifs mis en évidence dans le chapitre I. Nous trouvons une grande variabilité des estimations d’héritabilité et d’AGCV entre variables, provenances, sites et, dans une faible mesure, entre cernes annuels. La plupart des variables possèdent des héritabilités élevées à assez élevées au moins pour certaines provenances dans certains sites. Certaines variables tendent à avoir des héritabilités et AGCV généralement plus élevées : ce sont plutôt des variables de la partie de faible densité du cerne. Certaines variables de résistance à la sécheresse possèdent à la fois une héritabilité et une AGCV élevées : ce sont de bons critères de sélection pour la résistance à la sécheresse en amélioration génétique ou en régénération naturelle. Les estimations différentes entre sites suggèrent que les estimations d’héritabilités augmentent avec le caractère favorable du milieu. Les estimations sont significativement différentes entre provenances, avec de forts effets d’interaction avec les sites. En revanche il y a peu ou pas de différences significatives entre cernes. Dans le chapitre III, nous avons tenu compte de la variation associée aux cernes de croissance pour étudier les relations entre les estimations annuelles de paramètres génétiques et des variables climatiques et édaphiques. Les estimations d'héritabilité et de variation génétique de la plupart des variables de microdensité sont corrélées significativement avec la plupart des variables environnementales testées. De rares variables n’ont montré aucune corrélation significative dans aucun cas. Les caractéristiques des relations significatives sont variables entre les caractères, les sites et les provenances. Les prédicteurs climatiques les plus importants sont la température, l'évapotranspiration, la réserve en eau du sol et le déficit en eau. Les précipitations affectent peu l´estimation des paramètres génétiques. De façon générale, meilleures sont les conditions de croissance, plus élevées sont les estimations. Toutes les composantes des essais expérimentaux modifient les estimations des paramètres génétiques. Certaines peuvent être fortement déterminées par le choix du matériel végétal et du site. D'autres, comme la variation climatique temporelle, sont moins contrôlées et peuvent affecter de façon plus ou moins aléatoire les estimations.

We study statistical methods toestimate the heritability of a biological trait,which is the proportion of variations of thistrait that can be explained by genetic factors.First, we propose to study the heritability ofquantitative traits using high-dimensionalsparse linear mixed models. We investigate thetheoretical properties of the maximumlikelihood estimator for the heritability and weshow that it is a consistent estimator and that itsatisfies a central limit theorem with a closedformexpression for the asymptotic variance.This result, supported by an extendednumerical study, shows that the variance of ourestimator is strongly affected by the ratiobetween the number of observations and thesize of the random genetic effects. Moreprecisely, when the number of observations issmall compared to the size of the geneticeffects (which is often the case in geneticstudies), the variance of our estimator is verylarge. This motivated the development of avariable selection method in order to capturethe genetic variants which are involved themost in the phenotypic variations and providemore accurate heritability estimations. Wepropose then a variable selection methodadapted to high dimensional settings and weshow that, depending on the number of geneticvariants actually involved in the phenotypicvariations, called causal variants, it was a goodidea to include or not a variable selection stepbefore estimating heritability.The last part of this thesis is dedicated toheritability estimation for binary data, in orderto study the proportion of genetic factorsinvolved in complex diseases. We propose tostudy the theoretical properties of the methoddeveloped by Golan et al. (2014) for casecontroldata, which is very efficient in practice.Our main result is the proof of the consistencyof their heritability estimator.; Nous nous intéressons à desméthodes statistiques pour estimer l'héritabilitéd'un caractère biologique, qui correspond à lapart des variations de ce caractère qui peut êtreattribuée à des facteurs génétiques. Nousproposons dans un premier temps d'étudierl'héritabilité de traits biologiques continus àl'aide de modèles linéaires mixtes parcimonieuxen grande dimension. Nous avons recherché lespropriétés théoriques de l'estimateur du maximumde vraisemblance de l'héritabilité : nousavons montré que cet estimateur était consistantet vérifiait un théorème central limite avec unevariance asymptotique que nous avons calculéeexplicitement. Ce résultat, appuyé par des simulationsnumériques sur des échantillons finis,nous a permis de constater que la variance denotre estimateur était très fortement influencéepar le ratio entre le nombre d'observations et lataille des effets génétiques. Plus précisément,quand le nombre d’observations est faiblecomparé à la taille des effets génétiques (ce quiest très souvent le cas dans les étudesgénétiques), la variance de l’estimateur était trèsgrande. Ce constat a motivé le développementd'une méthode de sélection de variables afin dene garder que les variants génétiques les plusimpliqués dans les variations phénotypiques etd’améliorer la précision des estimations del’héritabilité.La dernière partie de cette thèse est consacrée àl'estimation d'héritabilité de données binaires,dans le but d'étudier la part de facteursgénétiques impliqués dans des maladies complexes.Nous proposons d'étudier les propriétésthéoriques de la méthode développée par Golanet al. (2014) pour des données de cas-contrôleset très efficace en pratique. Nous montronsnotamment la consistance de l’estimateur del’héritabilité proposé par Golan et al. (2014).

Understanding the determinants of phenotypic variation is critical to evaluate the ability of traits to evolve in a changing environment. In trees, the genetic component of the phenotypic variance is most often estimated based on maternal progeny tests. However, the lack of knowledge about the paternal relatedness hampers the accurate estimation of additive genetic and maternal effects. Here, we investigate how different methods accounting for paternal relatedness allow the estimation of heritability and maternal determinants of adaptive traits in a natural population of Fagus sylvatica L., presenting non-random mating. Twelve potentially adaptive functional traits were measured in 60 maternal families in a nursery. We genotyped a subset of offspring and of all the potentially reproductive adults in the population at 13 microsatellite markers to infer paternal relationships and to estimate average relatedness within and between maternal families. This relatedness information was then used in family and animal models to estimate the components of phenotypic variance. All the studied traits displayed significant genetic variance and moderate heritability. Maternal effects were detected for the diameter increment, stem volume and bud burst. Comparison of family and animal models showed that unbalanced mating system led to only slight departures from maternal family assumptions in the progeny trial. However, neglecting the significant maternal effects led to an overestimation of the heritability. Overall, we highlighted the usefulness of relatedness pattern analyses using polymorphic molecular markers to accurately analyse tree sibling designs.

Evolution of resistance in pests can reduce the effectiveness of insecticidal proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) produced by transgenic crops. We analyzed results of 77 studies from five continents reporting field monitoring data for resistance to Bt crops, empirical evaluation of factors affecting resistance or both. Although most pest populations remained susceptible, reduced efficacy of Bt crops caused by field-evolved resistance has been reported now for some populations of 5 of 13 major pest species examined, compared with resistant populations of only one pest species in 2005. Field outcomes support theoretical predictions that factors delaying resistance include recessive inheritance of resistance, low initial frequency of resistance alleles, abundant refuges of non-Bt host plants and two-toxin Bt crops deployed separately from one-toxin Bt crops. The results imply that proactive evaluation of the inheritance and initial frequency of resistance are useful for predicting the risk of resistance and improving strategies to sustain the effectiveness of Bt crops.

Linear mixed models have been formalized 60 years ago. These models allow to estimate fixed effects, as in the linear models, and random effects. First used in animal genetics, this type of modelling have been widely used in human genetics since a few years. Mixed models can be used in many genetic analysis; linkage and association studies, heritability estimations and Parent-of Origin effects studies for population or familial data.My thesis’ aim is to investigate mixed models based methods, for genetic data in population and, for familial genetic data.In the first part of my thesis, we investigated the mixed model statistical theory and their multiple uses in human genetics. We also adapted methods for our own work. An R package have been created which permits to analyze genetic data in R environment with mixed models.In a second part, we applied mixed models on Three-Cities data, a French longitudinal study, to estimate heritability of several traits. For this analysis, we have access to tag-SNPs typically used in genome-wide association studies, birthplaces and several anthropometric traits. The aim of our study is to analyze presence of population stratification and evaluate methods to correct it. In the one hand, we analyzed birthplace geographic coordinates and showed that the correction for population stratification by classical method is not sufficient in this case. In the other hand, we analyzed anthropometric traits, in particular the height for which we estimated heritability to 39% in Three-Cities study population.In the last part, we focused on family data. In a first work, we exploited familial information in causal variant research. In a second work, we explored mixed models uses for familial data, in particular association study, on Multiple Sclerosis data. We showed that mixed model methods can not be used without taking account the ascertainment scheme: in our data, all families have at least two affected sibs. To understand and correct this phenomenon, more investigations are needed., Le modèle linéaire mixte a été formalisé il y a plus de 60 ans. Celui-ci permet d'estimer un modèle avec des effets fixes équivalents à ceux du modèle linéaire classique et des effets aléatoires. Ce type de modélisation, d'abord utilisé en génétique animale, est depuis quelques années largement utilisé en génétique humaine. Les utilisations de ce modèle sont nombreuses. En effet, il peut être utilisé en étude de liaison, d'association, pour l'estimation de l'héritabilité ou encore dans la recherche d'empreinte parentale et peut s'adapter à des données familiales ou en population.Le but de mon doctorat est d'exploiter différentes méthodes basées sur les modèles mixtes d'abord sur des données génétiques en population puis sur des données génétiques familiales.Dans un premier temps, nous explorons dans ce manuscrit la théorie des modèles linéaires mixtes et leur utilisation en génétique. Nous adaptons aussi certaines méthodes pour les appliquer à notre recherche. Ce travail a donné lieu au développement informatique d'un package R permettant d'utiliser ces modèles dans le cadre des études génétiques.Dans un deuxième temps, nous utilisons les modèles linéaires mixtes pour l'estimation de l'héritabilité dans une étude en population française, l'étude Trois-Cités. Nous disposons dans cette étude des génotypes des tag-SNPs habituellement utilisés dans les études d'association ainsi que des lieux de naissance et de plusieurs traits anthropométriques quantitatifs tels que la taille. L'objectif est alors d'étudier la présence et la prise en compte dans l'analyse de stratification de population dans cette étude. Dans ce manuscrit, nous analysons les coordonnées géographiques des lieux de naissance. Nos résultats mettent en évidence la difficulté pour corriger correctement la stratification de population avec les méthodes classiques dans certains cas. Nous analysons ensuite les traits anthropométriques en particulier la taille dont nous estimons l'héritabilité à 39% dans la population de l'étude Trois-Cités.Dans la dernière partie de ce manuscrit, nous nous concentrons sur les données familiales. Nous montrons le gain d’information que peut apporter ce type de données dans la recherche des variants causaux. Puis, nous explorons l'utilisation des modèles mixtes sur des données familiales en appliquant certaines des méthodes associées dans la recherche de signaux d'association pour la Sclérose en Plaques, une maladie auto-immune, en utilisant un échantillon d’une centaine de familles nucléaires avec au moins deux germains atteints. Nous avons alors mis en évidence l’inadéquation des méthodes classiques basées sur les modèles mixtes à ce type de données. Afin de mieux comprendre ce biais de sélection et de le corriger, plus d’investigations sont nécessaires.

International audience; Diatom teratologies have intrigued scientists since the XIXth century, with respect to the causes and origins of their outbreak. They were mainly observed in long term cultures or under high pollution, and were poorly considered, except recently as a potential indicator of toxic impairment of freshwaters. However, nothing is known neither about the processes involved in their induction nor in their ecology of these forms. In this study, we compared morphologically distinct descendants of the same cell line of Gomphonema gracile (teratological vs. non teratological forms), by determining their growth abilities, alone and in competition, as well as their physiology (photosynthesis) and behavior (motility) over a typical growth cycle. Contrarily to our expectations, teratological cultures grew faster (0.49±0.04 div/day, vs. 0.44±0.01div/day in the non teratological forms) and had similar physiological performances as the non teratological ones. Under the same culture conditions, we were not able to demonstrate any competitive exclusion of one phenotype over the other. Moreover, the deformities were faithfully reproduced over time, and no evidence of decreased viability in teratological forms was provided. These new insights call into question the common hypothesis that deformed diatoms are altered individuals produced by unfavorable conditions and outcompeted when pollution is removed, thus highlighting ecosystem dysfunction. They call for further investigations of their ecology.

Selecting animals for their resistance to diseases is a way to improve their health and welfare and reduces the need for veterinary treatment. The objectives of this study were to estimate: i) the genetic parameters for simple visually assessed disease syndromes, and for a composite trait of resistance to infectious disease including all disease syndromes, ii) their genetic correlations with production traits. Clinical signs were recorded during weighing at 63 or 70 days of age on above 150,000 rabbits of two commercial paternal rabbit lines (HYPLUS) of the French breeding company Hypharm. Disease traits were: digestive syndromes, respiratory syndromes, infectious syndromes (a composite trait including digestive and respiratory syndromes), and infectious mortality. The production traits were body weight and carcass yield at 63 or 70 days of age. The heritabilities were low for disease traits (0.01 to 0.08 ± 0.01), and moderate for production traits. The genetic correlations between digestive and respiratory syndromes were slightly negative (-0.18 ± 0.07). The genetic correlations between the composite infectious disease trait and digestive or respiratory syndromes were moderate (0.65 ± 0.04 and 0.61 ± 0.04, respectively). Genetic correlations between disease and production traits were either null or favorable. Our results indicate that it is possible to select rabbits using visually assessed disease syndromes without the need for a trade-off between health and production traits. Using a composite criterion that includes all infectious syndromes is a promising way to improve the general disease resistance in rabbits.

International audience; Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a heterogeneous group of neuropsychiatric disorders characterized by problems in social communication, as well as by the presence of restricted interests, stereotyped and repetitive behaviours. In the last 40years, genetic studies have provided crucial information on the causes of ASD and its diversity. In this article, I will first review the current knowledge on the genetics of ASD and then suggest three propositions to foster research in this field. Twin and familial studies estimated the heritability of ASD to be 50%. While most of the inherited part of ASD is captured by common variants, our current knowledge on the genetics of ASD comes almost exclusively from the identification of highly penetrant de novo mutations through candidate gene or whole exome/genome sequencing studies. Approximately 10% of patients with ASD, especially those with intellectual disability, are carriers of de novo copy-number (CNV) or single nucleotide variants (SNV) affecting clinically relevant genes for ASD. Given the function of these genes, it was hypothesized that abnormal synaptic plasticity and failure of neuronal/synaptic homeostasis could increase the risk of ASD. In addition to these discoveries, three propositions coming from institutions, researchers and/or communities of patients and families can be made to foster research on ASD: (i) to use more dimensional and quantitative data than diagnostic categories; (ii) to increase data sharing and research on genetic and brain diversity in human populations; (iii) to involve patients and relatives as participants for research. Hopefully, this knowledge will lead to a better diagnosis, care and integration of individuals with ASD.

National audience; La récupération cardiaque est un paramètre déterminant du classement sur les épreuves d'endurance (80-160 km). La sélection génétique des chevaux d'endurance sur ce critère de récupération cardiaque pourrait avoir un intérêt pratique si l'héritabilité est suffisante. L'objectif de ce travail est d'estimer les paramètres génétiques (héritabilités et corrélations génétiques) des quatre variables qui caractérisent a récupération cardiaque au vet-gate : la fréquence cardiaque de récupération (FFCR), le temps moyen de récupération cardiaque (TTRC) et la vitesse moyenne (V. moy) pendant la course. La population est constituée de 4421 compétiteurs de pédigrée connu. L'héritabilité de chaque paramètre enregistré a été estimée en utilisant la méthode "Restricted Estimator of Maximal Likelihhood". Les héritabilités du TMRC (0,45) et du TTRC (0,30) sont assez élevées, tandis que celles de la V. moy (0.13) et de la FCR (0.07) sont faibles. D'autre part, une corrélation génétique négative assez forte (-0.62) a été estimée entre le TMRC et la V. moy. Le TMRC pourrait être un critère indirect de sélection, efficace pour améliorer les performances des chevaux d'endurance. Le temps de récupération cardiaque devrait être mesuré et affiché en corse au même titre que la vitesse et le classement de la course.

National audience; Our objectives were to estimate genetic parameters of the gut microbiota composition in French Large White pigs, and to uncover co-variations between the abundances of microbial communities and immunity or growth parameters of the host. In the framework of the Sus-Flora project, we characterized the diversity of the faecal microbiota of 518 60 day-old piglets by sequencing a variable region of the ribosomal 16S gene. Our first results have shown that the genera Prevotella, followed by Oscillibacter, Dialister, Roseburia or Treponema are dominant in the porcine faecal microbiota. Heritability values ranging from 0.13 0.08 to 0.55 0.16 were estimated for the relative abundance of 19 of the most common bacterial genera, highlighting the contribution of the host genome to the shaping of the gut microbial ecosystem. Regularized canonical correlations and sparse Partial Least Squares analyses highlighted both positive and negative correlations between immunity traits (e.g. monocytes, eosinophils, platelets) and genera such as Prevotella, Roseburia and Dialister. The establishment of microbial diversity in the gut was assessed by following a subset of 31 piglets at 14, 36, 48, 60 and 70 days of age. We showed that the gut microbiota composition was stabilized after 36 days of age. In addition, a stratification of the 31 piglets in two groups was observed after weaning, suggesting the existence of enterotypes as observed in humans. These two enterotype-like clusters were primarily distinguished by the levels of unclassified Ruminococcaceae and Prevotella, respectively. These two enterotype-like clusters were also found in the cohort of 518 60 day-old piglets.; L’objectif de cette étude est d’estimer les paramètres génétiques de la composition du microbiote intestinal chez le porc Large White et d’étudier les covariations entre cette composition et des paramètres immunitaires et de croissance. Dans le cadre du projet Sus-Flora, nous avons caractérisé la diversité du microbiote fécal pour 518 porcelets âgés de 60 jours, par séquençage d’une région variable du gène bactérien codant l’ARNr 16S. Nos premiers résultats ont mis en évidence une prédominance des genres bactériens Prevotella puis Oscillibacter, Dialister, Roseburia et Treponema. Des valeurs d’héritabilité comprises entre 0,13 0,08 et 0,55 0,16 ont été estimées pour l’abondance relative de 19 genres bactériens parmi les plus fréquents, démontrant ainsi une part génétique significative de la composition du microbiote intestinal chez le porc. Des corrélations génétiques positives et négatives sont identifiées entre abondances des taxons bactériens. Des covariations positives et négatives ont été trouvées entre des paramètres de formule sanguine (taux de monocytes, éosinophiles, plaquettes) et l’abondance des genres Prevotella, Roseburia, Dialister. Nous montrons également, pour un sous-groupe de 31 animaux, que la composition du microbiote intestinal se stabilise après 36 jours d’âge et que les animaux se séparent en deux groupes sur la base de la composition de leur microbiote intestinal, évoquant les entérotypes identifiés chez l’homme. Ces deux groupes, dominés par le genre Prevotella ou les Ruminococcaceae, sont retrouvés à 60 jours d’âge, avec la cohorte des 518 porcelets.

Sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) con infect many modern sugarcane varieties and cause insidious yield losses in susceptible cultivars. Information about the heritability of resistance to SCYLV is useful in designing appropriate breeding strategies likely to generate genetic gains and develop resistant varieties. This study aimed at computing quantitative estimates of narrow-sense heritability (h2) of resistance to SCYLV using the parent-offspring regression method. A set of 37 genitors and a total of 41 derived hi-parental progenies were tested in field trials in natural conditions of infection prevailing in Guadeloupe. Parents and progenies were assessed for leaf SCYLV incidence in separate randomized complete-block designs through tissue-blot immu­noassay. Trial designs and diagnostic protocols gave access to a high accuracy of phenotypic values of both parents and progenies. Narrow-sense heritability of virus resistance was estimated to be h2 =0.29 or 0.44 in two parent-offspring regressions based on the study of a set of 10 and 31 progenies, respectively. Assessments of par­ents and their progenies made in separate trials have avoided any risk of inflation in h2 estimates due to possible environmental covariance between relatives across generations. On the contrary, these estimates are probably lower thon the genuine heritability existing in the studied material. The lower level of infection of the progenies compared to their parents has influenced downward the mathematical ratio that determines the computation of heritability. Our study provides the first report on heritability of sugarcane resistance to SCYLV. Estimates obtained indicate that the trait is at least moderately heritable. Part of the genetic variance of additive nature could be advantageously exploited. Breeding strategies taking into account values of parents for their resistance to yellow leaf disease should be effective.

Comment améliorer le peuplier pour valoriser sa biomasse en bio-raffinerie ? Le peuplier est une ressource d'intérêt pour la valorisation de la biomasse lignocellulosique en bio-raffinerie. Toutefois les variétés actuellement disponibles n'ont pas été améliorées dans cet objectif. Il est donc crucial d'étudier la variabilité et les déterminismes génétiques des caractères affectant le rendement et la qualité de la biomasse. Vers une meilleure compréhension de la production de biomasse chez le peuplier. La biomasse lignocellulosique issue des taillis de courte rotation de peuplier est une ressource renouvelable d’intérêt pour la production de biocarburants de deuxième génération. Cependant, les variétés de peuplier actuellement disponibles ne sont pas issues d’une sélection selon ce critère et, afin d’optimiser l’ensemble du processus de conversion de la biomasse en sucres simples et fermentescibles (saccharification), les facteurs affectant la production de biomasse et ses propriétés chimiques nécessitent une étude approfondie. Au cours des dernières décennies, des efforts concernant les espèces ripariennes de peuplier ont été consacrés à l’évaluation de la variabilité génétique des caractères cibles pour une utilisation sous forme de bioénergie. En autre, plusieurs régions génomiques sous-jacentes à cette variabilité génétique (Quantitative Trait Loci – QTL) ont été cartographiées avec succès. Cependant, les intervalles de confiance associés à ces QTLs étaient trop larges, étant donné que la base de ces études était des croisements biparentaux, ce qui limite sérieusement leur utilisation pour la sélection assistée par marqueurs. Pour surmonter ces limitations, la génétique d’association –la détection des QTLs dans des populations complexes- représente une alternative évidente pour les espèces forestières, car elles présentent généralement une réduction rapide du déséquilibre de liaison (LD) avec la distance génomique. Récemment, les deux premières études de génétique d’association chez les espèces ripariennes de peuplier ont été effectuées pour des caractères de qualité de biomasse. Cependant, ces deux études ont permis de détecter un nombre relativement réduit d’associations significatives, dont la majorité explique une proportion réduite de la variation phénotypique. Plusieurs hypothèses peuvent expliquer ces résultats décevants, comme le manque d’exhaustivité dans l’échantillonnage de la diversité génétique et des polymorphismes existants, et l’existence de déterminismes sous-jacents complexes. Ce dernier point pourrait comporter des interactions gène – environnement et gène – gène, mais aussi des variants rares, circonstances qui n'ont pas été explicitement considérées dans ces deux premières études. On s'attaquant à ces obstacles, le projet proposé vise à mieux comprendre l’architecture génétique de la production de biomasse et de sa qualité comme caractères cibles pour une valorisation bioénergétique. Plus particulièrement, une approche de biologie intégrative incluant polymorphismes, donnés expressionnelles et phénotypes est proposée pour l’étude de populations naturelles de peuplier noir (Populus nigra) couvrant l’aire de distribution de l’espèce en Europe occidentale. En plus des connaissances fondamentales apportées sur les facteurs qui contrôlent la construction de la paroi cellulaire et ceux liés à la production de biomasse, le projet proposé ici aura comme objectif l’évaluation de la faisabilité de la prédiction du phénotype en partant de multiples sources d’information et qui pourraient intéresser les programmes d’amélioration génétique de l’espèce.

Agap : équipe GE2pop; Accurate estimates of heritability (h2) are necessary to assess adaptive responses of populations and evolution of fitness-related traits in changing environments. For plants, h2 estimates generally rely on maternal progeny designs, assuming that offspring are either half-sibs or unrelated. However, plant mating systems often depart from half-sib assumptions, this can bias h2 estimates. Here, we investigate how to accurately estimate h2 in non-model species through the analysis of sibling designs with a moderate genotyping effort. We performed simulations to investigate how microsatellite marker information available for only a subset of offspring can improve h2 estimates based on maternal progeny designs in presence of non-random mating, inbreeding in the parental population or maternal effects. We compared the basic family method, considering or not adjustments based on average relatedness coefficients, and methods based on the animal model. The animal model was used with average relatedness information, or with hybrid relatedness information: associating one-generation pedigree and family assumptions, or associating one-generation pedigree and average relatedness coefficients. Our results highlighted that methods using marker-based relatedness coefficients performed as well as pedigree-based methods in presence of non-random mating (i.e. unequal male reproductive contributions, selfing), offering promising prospects to investigate in situ heritabilities in natural populations. In presence of maternal effects, only the use of pairwise relatednesses through pedigree information improved the accuracy of h2 estimates. In that case the amount of father-related offspring in the sibling design is the most critical. Overall, we showed that the method using both one-generation pedigree and average relatedness coefficients was the most robust to various ecological scenarios.

The effectiveness of on-farm and/or on-station early generation yield testing was examined to maximize the genetic gains for sorghum yield under smallholder famer production conditions in West Africa. On-farm first-stage yield trials (augmented design, 150 genotypes with subsets of 50 genotypes tested per farmer) and second-stage yield trials (replicated α-lattice design, 21 test genotypes) were conducted, as well as on-station α-lattice first- and second-stage trials under contrasting phosphorous conditions. On-farm testing was effective, with yield showing significant genetic variance and acceptable heritabilities (0.56 in first- and 0.61 to 0.83 in second-stage trials). Predicted genetic gains from on-station yield trials were always less than from direct testing on-farm, although on-station trials under low-phosphorus and combined over multiple environments improved selection efficiencies. Modeling alternative designs for on-farm yield testing (augmented, farmer-as-incomplete-block, multiple lattice, and augmented p-rep) indicated that acceptable heritabilities (0.57 to 0.65) could be obtained with all designs for testing 150 progenies in 20 trials and 75 plots per farmer. Ease of implementation and risk of errors would thus be key criteria for choice of design. Integrating results from on-station and on-farm yield testing appeared beneficial as progenies selected both by on-farm and on-station first-stage trials showed higher on-farm yields in second-stage testing. In insects, extra-molting has been viewed as a compensatory mechanism for nymphal growth that contributes to optimize body weight for successful reproduction. However, little is known on the capacity of extra-molting to evolve in natural populations, which limits our understanding of how selection acts on nymphal growth. We used a multi-generational pedigree, individual monitoring and quantitative genetics models to investigate the evolution of extra-molting and its impact on nymphal growth in a solitarious population of the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria. Growth compensation via extra-molting was observed for 46% of the females, whose adult weight exceeded by 4% that of other females, at a cost of a 22% longer development time. We found a null heritability for body weight threshold only, and the highest and a strongly female-biased heritability for extra molting. Our genetic estimates show that (1) directional selection can act on growth rate, development time and extra-molting to optimize body weight threshold, the target of stabilizing selection, (2) extra-molting can evolve in natural populations, and (3) a genetic conflict, due to sexually antagonistic selection on extra-molting, might prevent its fixation. Finally, we discuss how antagonistic selection between solitarious and gregarious environments and/or genetic correlations between growth and phase traits might also impact the evolution of extra-molting in locusts.

In order to evaluate genetic variability of agro-morphological traits and also determine the correlation between grain yield with its components in rice lines, 17 recombinants inbred lines, their parents and a check variety were grown in research station of Africa rice center in Benin republic during two consecutive years 2013 and 2014. The experiments were laid out in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Phenotypic coefficients of variance were higher than genotypic coefficients of variance in all the characters across the two years. High heritability in broad sense (H2) estimates were obtained for biomass (68.77%), date of 50% flowering (98.11%), plant height (81.94%), leaf area (82.90%), number of panicles (64.40%), leaf dry weight (72.91%), root weight (67.43%) and yield/plant (62.23%) suggesting that the traits were primarily under genetic control. A joint consideration of broad sense heritability (H2) and genetic advance as per cent mean expected (GAM) revealed that leaves dries weight and roots weight combined high heritability and high GAM. Furthermore, high (H2) and high GAM recorded in these characters could be explained by additive gene action. However, high estimates (H2) combined with moderate GAM recorded for biomass, day to 50% flowering, leaf area, number of panicle and yield/plant could be due to non-additive gene effect. Grain yield/plant recorded positive and significant correlation with stem weight (r=0.5262) and biomass (r=0.9291). This result indicates that selection based on these two characters will be highly effective for yield improvement in rice. The commercial cultivation of dwarf coconut is rare in the world, representing about 5% of global population. However, Dwarfs are currently receiving more attention, particularly for the harvest of tender nut water. Dwarfs are distinguished from tall coconuts primarily by their short height with an absence of a bole at the base of the stem, their early setting of nuts, their predominantly self fertilizing mating system and by large numbers of relatively small nuts. To date, the origin and domestication of Dwarfs has not been established. This study investigates the origin and domestication of dwarf coconut using molecular markers, mainly microsatellite (SSR) data. The inheritance of height and the presence of a bole was investigated in the F2 of a cross between Dwarf and Tall palms. The data suggest that the presence of a bole results from a single codominant locus. There was no strong association between the presence of a bole and height, with height also depending on a single codominant gene. However genetic and environmental factors make it difficult to assign individuals a definite genotype. SSR allele frequency differences between dwarf and tall accessions, ethno botanical and geographic information indicate that dwarf coconut originated from a typical domestication event in Southeast Asia. The genetic control of maize kernel weight (KW) determination could be studied through its physiological and/ or compositional determinants. Our objective was to dissect the genetic control of maize KW by analyzing its physiological (KGR: kernel growth rate; KFD: kernel filling duration) and compositional (protein, oil, starch) determinants in a dentxflint Caribbean RIL population, which combines a broad genetic background with grains of high added value for industry. An additional objective was to determine the stability of the genetic control under contrasting growing conditions, for which soil nitrogen offer was modified across experiments. Heritability (H-2) values were high for KW (H-2 = 0.74) and intermediate for the other traits (from 0.62 to 0.42). Kernel weight had a strong correlation with KFD (r = 0.69), KGR (r = 0.60) and protein concentration (r = 0.56). Ten joint QTL with inconsistent effects across years and seven epistatic interactions were detected. Despite changes in effect size, most QTL were significant under both environments. Nine QTL were associated with variations in potential KW (KWP), mean KW, KGR and oil concentration, eight with variations in protein and starch concentration and seven with KFD. Epistatic interactions were related to regions with significant main effects. The most important finding was the existence of a common QTL for KWP, KGR and KFD on chromosome 5, for which there was no previous report. Results increased our knowledge on the genetic control of KW through its phenotypic and genetic correlation with KFD, confirming the need to explore different physiological strategies in different genetic backgrounds.

The present study investigates the genetic determinism of flowering and maturity dates, two traits highly affected by global climate change. Flowering and maturity dates were evaluated on five progenies from three Prunus species, peach, apricot and sweet cherry, during 3–8 years. Quantitative trait locus (QTL) detection was performed separately for each year and also by integrating data from all years together. High heritability estimates were obtained for flowering and maturity dates. Several QTLs for flowering and maturity dates were highly stable, detected each year of evaluation, suggesting that they were not affected by climatic variations. For flowering date, major QTLs were detected on linkage groups (LG) 4 for apricot and sweet cherry and on LG6 for peach. QTLs were identified on LG2, LG3, LG4 and LG7 for the three species. For maturity date, a major QTL was detected on LG4 in the three species. Using the peach genome sequence data, candidate genes underlying the major QTLs on LG4 and LG6 were investigated and key genes were identified. Mosquitoes play a key role in the dynamics of malaria transmission. Indeed, several life history traits of these bloodsucking insects are closely associated with the basic reproductive rate of the malaria parasite. One of the most important parameters for the transmission of Plasmodium is the rate and intensity of the mosquito infection. However, within a single population, a great heterogeneity of mosquito infection levels is often observed: some mosquitoes are not infected, others are only weakly infected, and yet others have extremely high infection rates. Identifying the sources of variation responsible for this heterogeneity is essential in order to understand the transmission dynamics of Plasmodium. Certain genetic and environmental (temperature, nutrition) parameters have already been identified as having an impact on mosquito infection rates. Nevertheless, many factors remain to be explored. Using an experimental system composed of the avian malaria parasite Plasmodium relictum, its natural vector Culex pipiens and one of its vertebrate host Serinus canaria, we have investigated the effect of several seldom investigated parameters on the infection of mosquitoes. We observed surprising effects of the effect of parental infection, mosquito age and genetic background. In parallel, we also studied a rarely investigated parameter: the impact of the vertebrate host on the mosquito infection rate. We showed that parasite infection dynamics within the host, at short but also long time scales, significantly influence the transmission of Plasmodium to the vector. The sources of heterogeneity of mosquito infection are therefore multiple and all members of this tripartite partnership (i.e. host / parasite / vector) are able to significantly influence the transmission dynamics of the parasite.; Les moustiques jouent un rôle essentiel dans la dynamique de transmission du paludisme. Plusieurs traits d’histoire de vie de ces insectes hématophages vont, en effet, intervenir dans le calcul du taux reproductif de base du parasite. Parmi eux, la probabilité et l’intensité d’infection des vecteurs, suite à la prise d’un repas de sang infectieux, sont des facteurs primordiaux pour la transmission de Plasmodium. Pourtant, au sein d'une même population, une réelle hétérogénéité d’infection des moustiques a été observée: alors que certain ne sont pas infectés, que d'autres le sont faiblement, une partie des vecteurs vont présenter des taux d'infection extrêmement forts. Identifier les sources de variations responsables de cette hétérogénéité est indispensable pour comprendre la dynamique de transmission de Plasmodium. Certains paramètres d’origine génétique et environnementale, tel que la température et la nutrition, ont déjà clairement été identifiés comme ayant un impact sur le taux d’infection des moustiques. Néanmoins, de nombreux facteurs restent encore à explorer. En utilisant un système expérimental composé du parasite de la malaria aviaire Plasmodium relictum, de son vecteur naturel le moustique Culex pipiens et de l’un de ses hôtes vertébrés Serinus canaria, nous nous sommes intéressés aux effets de certains de ces paramètres, peu pris en compte jusqu’à présent, sur l’infection des moustiques. Nous avons notamment pu mettre en évidence des conséquences importante de l’infection parentale, de l’âge des vecteurs, ainsi que de leur fond génétique. Parallèlement, nous nous sommes intéressés à un facteur souvent laissé de côté, l’effet « hôte vertébré » sur l’infection des moustiques. Dans cette dernière partie, on a pu observer que la dynamique d’infection du parasite au sein de l’hôte influence de manière importante le taux de transmission de Plasmodium. Les sources d’hétérogénéité d’infections des moustiques sont donc multiples et l’ensemble des membres de cette association tripartite hôte/parasite/vecteur vont pouvoir influencer de manière importante la dynamique de transmission du parasite.

Dispersal is a key like history trait for ecological and evolutionary processes in wild population. The last researching particularly focused on the correlation between behavioural trait and dispersal, in order to emphasize the existence of behavioural syndromes of dispersal, and on the estimation of the genetic basis of the dispersal behaviour. Dispersant individuals could not be a random part of the population, but individuals showing particular strategies, that help them to succeed in their dispersal attempt. This thesis has three main aims of research. The first is to show a genetic basis of the dispersal propensity in a fragmented population of collared flycatchers (Ficedulla albicollis). We shown not only the genetic bases of the dispersal, but also a non-random spatial distribution of relationship between individuals in this population, that might be due to genetic effects on the decision rules of habitat choice in this population. The second aim concerns phenotypic and genetic correlation between the natal dispersal and a behavioural trait, the nest-defense behaviour, in the alpin swift (Tachymarpis melba). We shown that natal dispersal and nest-defense behaviour are negatively correlated at a phenotypic level, but also at a genetic level in theses populations. Finally, the third aim attempt to test the existence of behavioural syndrome of dispersal, that is if dispersant individuals have a particular behavioural profile, which enable them to colonize new sites, in the collared flycatcher; La dispersion est un trait d'histoire de vie clé pour les processus écologiques et évolutifs dans les populations naturelles. Les dernières recherches se sont notamment focalisées sur les corrélations entre traits comportementaux et la dispersion, ceci afin de mettre en évidence des syndromes comportementaux de dispersion, tout en démontrant la base génétique de la dispersion. Les dispersants ne seraient donc pas une part aléatoire d'une population, mais des individus montrant des stratégies particulières qui augmenteraient leur chances de succès. Cette thèse s'est orientée vers trois objectifs de recherche majeurs. Le premier est la mise en évidence d'une base génétique de la probabilité de disperser dans une population fragmentée de gobe-mouches à collier Ficedula albicollis. Les résultats nous ont montré, au-delà de l'estimation de la base génétique de la dispersion, une distribution spatiale non aléatoire de l'apparentement dans cette population, qui pourrait être dû à des effets génétiques sur les règles de décision de choix de l'habitat. Le deuxième s'intéresse à la corrélation phénotypique et génétique entre le comportement de dispersion natale et le comportement de défense du nid, chez le martinet alpin Tachymarpis melba. Nous avons montré que la dispersion natale et le comportement de défense du nid sont négativement corrélés au niveau phénotypique mais aussi génétique dans ces populations.
