The purpose of this research is to show whether there is a relationship between emotional regulation skills and academic motivation in adolescents. The study's universe consists of 969 students studying at various secondary education institutions located in the Kalecik district of Ankara in the academic year of 2017-2018. Data were collected through Personal Information Form, Emotion Regulation Scale and Academic Motivation Scale and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling, Independent Samples TTest and One-Way ANOVA using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24 programs. As a result, a significant positive correlation between emotional regulation skills and academic motivations of adolescent students was found. In addition, it was seen that the academic motivation varied according to the type of school, and this differentiation was higher in the science high school compared to the vocational high school of health, and imam hatip high school was higher than the Anatolian high school and the type of vocational high school of health. Emotional regulation skills differ significantly from both sexes and class levels. According to the students of male students, 12th grade students were found to have higher emotion regulation skills than 10th grade students. For the future research which will be done on this subject, examining of adolescents' parental relations, peer relations and socioeconomic levels will have different results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The individual and social effects of the problems that develop due to the misuse of addictive substance are getting deeper. The greatest danger that awaits people using these substances is the risk of addiction to the substance used over time. Studies on substance addiction show that the extent of the danger is not limited to users and that non-users are also affected by this problem in different ways. The fact that larger masses are affected negatively increases the importance of studies aimed at understanding the nature and development of addiction. The aim of this study is to reveal the addiction typologies of adolescents who live in neighborhoods shaped by migration and who have made substance use an indispensable part of their life using an in-depth interview method. In order to reveal these typologies, 13 cases of substance use in adolescence who dropped out from school were interviewed, and how individuals interpreted the individual and environmental factors influencing their use of stuff in their own worlds were examined and the results obtained were evaluated within the frame of Bowlby’s attachment theory.. The meanings attributed to the concept of addiction and the communication expressions they use among the cases were determined as one of the focal points of the study. As a result of the research, it was seen that individuals identify the substance they depend on with the most indispensable values in their lives while defining addiction. In addition, it was understood that they attribute different meanings to some idioms and expressions that are also used in the folk language in order to communicate among themselves and thus develop a special terminology specific to the addiction subculture. Furthermore, in this study, four main addiction typologies were determined that direct adolescents to substance use, namely Family, Peer, Family-Peer, Relationship. It is expected that the detection of these typologies will give a new perspective to protective and preventive studies carried out within the framework of the effective struggle against the problem of addiction. Hemen herkes krizler çağında yaşadığımıza dair derin vurgular yapmaktadır. Krizin en derin belirtileri de ergenler üzerinde gözlemlenmektedir. Yaşanan krizleri doğru tahlil etmek ve olası çözüm önerilerini ortaya koymak daha iyi bir dünyada yaşamak adına önemli bir görevdir. Bu görevi yerine getirmenin şartı da çağımızı ve ona ren-gini veren koşulları sağlıklı bir şekilde analiz etmek ile mümkündür. Dünya nüfusunun yaklaşık üçte birini gençler/ergenler oluşturmaktadır. Ergenlik dünümüz ile yarınımız arasında bir köprü, geçmişimizle geleceğimizin bağ kurduğu noktadır. Ergenlik dönemi hayata anlam verme çabalarının zirveye çıktığı dönemdir. Bu dönemde yaşanan yabancılaşma, intihar, mutsuzluk ve güvensizlik gibi pek çok sorunun kaynağında anlamsızlık duygusu vardır.Hayatta gerçek bir anlam bulmak ergenlik döneminin en temel özelliğidir. Ergenlik kimliğin oluşma sürecidir. Bu dönemde oluşan kimlik tüm hayatı etkilemektedir. Bu süreçte ergenler içinde bulundukları kültürü, toplumsal değerleri, sahip oldukları inançları ve yasal kuralları sorgulamaya başlar. Bu sorgulamanın amacı hayatı olumlu hale getirecek temel değerlere ve temel bir anlam kaynağına ulaşmaktır. Ergenlerde-ki hayatı sorgulama düşüncesi, daha iyiye ve daha mutlu bir hayata doğru yaptıkları çabalar anlam arayışının en önemli göstergeleridir.Anlam kavramının içeriğini anlamak ve tanımlamak zordur. Buna karşın onun verdiği anlamı kapsayan başka bir kelime de yoktur. Anlam kavramı, Abdulkerim Bahadır’ın yerinde ifadesiyle, hayatın yaşamaya değer olup olmadığıyla, insanca yaşamayla, yüce amaçlar için yaşamakla ilgilidir. Bir şeyi anlamak o şeyin özünü, ilişkili olduğu diğer varlıkları ve o şeyin ait olduğu bütünlüğü kavramak anlamına gelir. Anlama faaliyeti anlaşılan şeyde kendi hayatımızdan, duygu ve düşüncelerimizden birşeyler bulmayı ifade eder. Varlığımızın, bizim dışımızdaki varlıklar ile olan ilişkisini ve anlamını keş-fetmeyi ifade eder. Hayatın anlamı insanların “ne için?” yaşadığını gösteren, hayatı-nın anlamlı ve değerli olmasını sağlayan hedeflere sahip olmasıyla ilişkilidir. Çünkü insanlar anlamlı bir hayata ulaştıktıklarında potansiyellerini geliştirebilir, karşı karşı-ya kaldığı problemlere çözümler üretebilirler. Diğer insanlarla ve varlıkla doğru bir ilişki kurabilirler. Böylece yaşam bütünlüklerini korumuş olurlar.Din anlamsızlığı önleyen, hayata anlam katan, tüm yaşam kalitesi ve varoluş boyutla-rına yardım eden bir olgudur ve bu gençler için çok önemlidir. Dini ilkeler ve dini değerler ergenler için, hayatı anlamlı ve mutlu kılacak alternatifler ortaya koyar. Çünkü anlam hayatın, din de anlamın en temel ögesidir. Dinin anlam haritasında yaşamın bireysel ve toplumsal amaçları vardır. Dindarlık; hayata amaç veren, yaşa-nan sorunları anlamlı kılacak bir bakış açısı sağlayan, sarsıcı yaşam olayları ile başa çıkmayı sağlayan bir kişilik özelliğidir. Yapılan araştırmalar şunu göstermiştir: Dindar-lık ile iyi oluş, psikolojik sağlık, mutluluk ve anlamlı bir hayat arasında pozitif bir ilişki vardır.Araştırmamız ergenlerde dinin anlam arayışına ve anlamlı bir hayat sürmeye katkıla-rını konu edinmektedir. Araştırmada mülakata katılan ergenlerin anlam ve anlamsız-lık ile ilgili görüşlerinin literatürdeki tanımlar ve birçok araştırma sonucu ile uyumlu olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden kuram oluşturma yaklaşımına dayalı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda amaçlı örnekleme yönte-mi ile ulaşılan, yaşları 18 ile 24 arasında değişen 28 kişiyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüş-meler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Birleşmiş Milletler Eğitim, Bilim ve Kültür Örgütü olan Unesco ve Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu TÜİK gençlik üzerine araştırmalar yapmaktadır. Her iki kurum 16-25 yaş arasını ergenlik ya da gençlik dönemi olarak tanımlamakta-dır. Bu araştırma da iki kurumun verilerini dikkate alarak 18-24 yaş aralığını merkeze almıştır. Ergenlik dönemiyle ilgili birçok bilimsel araştırma bu yaş aralığını dikkate almaktadır.Araştırmada içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde NVivo 12 programından faydalanılmıştır. Bulgular ilgili literatüre dayalı olarak tartışılmış ve ileri çalışmalar için önerilerde bulunulmuştur.Türkiye’de gerek psikoloji gerekse din psikolojisi alanında anlam, ergenlik ve dindarlık ilişkisini araştıran çalışmalar neredeyse yok denecek kadar azdır. Bu durum çalışma-mızın önemini göstermektedir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarını ergenlerle ilgili sosyal, kül-türel ve eğitsel alanda ana politikalar geliştirmek için kullanmak mümkündür.

116. Effect of 12-18 Age Family Training Program on Family Functions.

In this study, the effect of 12-18 Age Family Education Program (AEP) on family functions was examined in a quasi-experimental study. The families in the experiment and control groups of the study were selected by purposeful sampling method. Self-Assessment Scale, The Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Me as a Parent Scale (MPS) were used as pretest-posttest data collection tools. A 14- session Family Education Program was carried out in the experimental group. No study was conducted with the control group. In the experimental group, it was observed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the sub-scales of problem solving, parenting roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, controlling behaviors, and general functioning and there was no significant difference in terms of communication function. A significant difference was also found between the pretest and post-test means of self-regulation skills. As a result, it was determined that the family education program was effective on parents. In the control group, no significant difference was found between the pretest-posttest scores in the subscales of problem solving, communication, affective responsiveness, affective involvement and controlling behaviors. A significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test scores of parenting roles and general functioning subscales. There was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test means of the control group parents' self-regulation skills. 117. Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms and Related Factors in High School Student Adolescents.

This study was conducted to determine post-traumatic stress symptoms and related factors in high school student adolescents living in a county in Southeast Anatolia. The study used a cross-sectional design. The population of the study consisted of 9522 students, and the sample included 459 students from 10 high schools. A Descriptive Information Form, Post-Traumatic Stress Diagnostic Scale, Beck Depression Scale, and Ways of Coping Questionnaire were used to collect the study data. The findings indicated that that 57.7% (n=202) of the participants were at the age of 15 or younger and that 64.2% (n=251) were female. According to the study, 87.2% (n=341) of the students had symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There was a statistically significant difference between the students' depression symptoms and PTSD symptoms. A significant difference was found between students' ways of coping with stress and symptoms of PTSD only in terms of the helplessness approach style. It was determined that nine out of ten students experienced symptoms of PTSD, depression symptoms increased as the symptoms of PTSD increased, and that the students used the helplessness approach to cope with stress. This study aimed to provide a psychoanalytic perspective to the first feature film, Les Quatre Cents Coups, which was shot in 1959 by François Truffaut, one of the most important representatives of the New Wave movement. The protagonist of the movie, Antoine Doinel, is a 13-year-old teenager who skips school, steals, and lies. Within the scope of this analysis, first of all, the psychoanalytic theory of adolescence was described. The process of change that the adolescents goes through and its effects on their mental structure were discussed. Afterwards, the relationships between the difficulties and acting out behaviors of Antoine Doinel and his early experiences were examined based upon Winnicott, Bion and Klein's theories, together with the scenes from the movie. In this context, the effects of problematic early object relations on conflicts of adolescence were discussed. Besides, Les Quatre Cents Coups is a semiautobiographical movie. The present study investigated whether the psychological well-being of adolescents with lower socioeconomic status (SES) was related to adolescents' beliefs about economic inequality and their emotions regarding wealthy peers. The study focused on beliefs about economic inequality from the perspective of system justification theory, which taps individuals' motivation to justify the existing economic, social, and political arrangements. In terms of emotions, we narrowed our attention to anger and admiration, which are highly relevant emotions in the current study context. We argued that anger and admiration derived from thinking of wealthy peers would mediate the association between economic system justification and well-being in lower SES adolescents. The study sample consisted of 182 high school students coming from lower SES families in Turkey. Anger and admiration were measured in various domains of intergroup relations between SES groups. These domains were material consumption opportunities, family factors, future opportunities and power, perceptions about competence and physical attractiveness, interpersonal relationships, and education opportunities. Results demonstrated that although well-being was positively associated with system justification, it was negatively related to total anger score and total admiration score. Anger, particularly anger derived from thinking of wealthy peers' material consumption opportunities, mediated the link between economic system justification and well-being. However, although the total admiration score was negatively related to well-being, economic system justification was not significantly related to neither total admiration score nor admiration domains. The results indicated the importance of considering the role of emotions about wealthy peers and economic system justification in understanding well-being among adolescents with lower SES. The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of emotional management skills in the relationship between adolescents' loneliness and problematic social media use. In this context, data were collected from a total of 134 high school students from five different high schools. The research was conducted according to the relational predictive design of the quantitative research designs. Data were collected by Social Media Disorder Scale, UCLA Loneliness Scale, Emotion Management Skills Scale. Structural equation modeling was used in the analysis of the data. Bootstrapping method was used to determine whether the mediating effect of emotion management skills was significant. At the end of analyzes, it was found that emotion management has full mediating role in the relationship between loneliness and problematic social media use. As a result, as the loneliness levels of adolescents increase, their emotion management skills decrease; as the emotion management skills decrease, problematic social media usage behaviors increase. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between well-being, being happy, self-expression and social media addiction of adolescence which is a special period with its psychosocial and physical effects. Material and methods: In descriptive, cross-sectional research, 384 adolescents aged 11-18, reached by their peers answered voluntarily, demographic information form Engagement, Perseverance, Optimism, Connectedness, Happiness (EPOCH) Scale, Emotional Expression Scale (EES), Oxford Happiness Scale-Short Form (OHS-SF) and Social Media Addiction Scale- Short Form (SMASSF). Results: The mean age of the participants was 14.6±2.2 years, 47.9% were male (n=184) and 61.5% (n=236) were private school students. Cronbach alpha values of EPOCH, EES, OHS-SF, SMAS-SF scales were found 0.88, 0.6648, 0.770 and 0.810, respectively. EPOCH, OHS-SF, EES scores (76.2±16.9; 21.7±5.9; 67.7±12.9) of those who consider themselves unsuccessful (24.7%; n=95) (87.9±14.2; 25.5±5.2; 71.1±11.2) were low (p=0.001; p=0.001; p=0.008). EES score is higher in girls (72.1±11.2) than boys (68.2±11.9) (p=0.002), OHS-SF score of those studying in private school (25.5±5.4) is in public school (22.9±5.6) was different (p=0.001). The SMAS-SF score was higher in public school students (3.2±2.9), than private school students (2.5±2.3) (p=0.033), and those who consider themselves unsuccessful (3.8±2.8) than who consider themselves successful (2.4±2.5) (p=0.001) and those who did not do sports (3.0±2.7) were more than those who did sports (2.4±2.5) (p=0.035). EPOC-H score was higher in those who do sports (87.2±15.8) than those who do not (83.9±15.6) (p=0.038). There was a weak negative correlation (r=-0,199, p=0.001) between the participants› EPOCH and SMAS-SF score, and a moderate correlation between the OHS-SF and SMAS score (r=-0,260, p=0.001). Conclusion: It is noteworthy that adolescents studying in private school are happier and less social media addicted than those who study in public school. It is also interesting that those who consider themselves successful express themselves better and are happier while those who consider themselves unsuccessful, public school students and those not making sports have higher social media addiction. Bu çalışmada ergenlerde okul aidiyet duygusu, okul işlevleri ve psikolojik uyum arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini yaşları 11 ile 18 arasında değişen, ortaokul ve lisede öğrenci olan 333 ergen oluşturmaktadır (Ortalama = 15.45; ss = 1.75). Katılımcıların %55.9’u (186) kız ve %44.1’i (147) erkektir. Korelasyon analiz sonuçları, ergenlerde okul aidiyeti artarken içselleştirilmiş ve dışsallaştırılmış problemlerin azaldığını ve okul işlevlerinde de anlamlı bir artışın olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Yol (path) analiz sonuçları, okul aidiyetinin öğrencilerin akademik başarı, öğrenmeden zevk alma, eğitimsel amaçlar, akademik yeterlik, akademik doyum ve prososyal davranımlarını pozitif yönde ve anlamlı düzeyde yordadığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca sonuçlar okul aidiyetinin ergenlerde içselleştirilmiş ve dışsallaştırılmış problemleri negatif yönde ve anlamlı düzeyde yordadığını ortaya koymuştur. Okul aidiyet duygusu, akademik başarı değişkeni hariç, diğer tüm değişkenler üzerinde güçlü bir yordayıcı etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçları alan yazın ışığında tartışılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Many children in the world grow up without good enough opportunities under challenging conditions such as poverty, violence, neglect, abuse, family discord and diseases. These conditions hinder the mental, emotional and social development of children and young people, making it difficult for them to reach their potential to become healthy adults. In addition to all these, there are children who can survive even in the most severe conditions and continue their development with health and functionality. Psychological resilience is a resource that protects and develops the psychological well-being of children and adolescents, rather than an invariable, innate feature, it is a dynamic process that can be developed, continuous and shaped by the interaction of the individual with his own internal factors and environmental factors. The aim of this study is to present a review of the literature on resilience research from past to present. The article includes the definition of resilience, the history of resilience research, components of resilience, models, measurement, interventions, and future directions in resilience research. Investments in the development of resilience in children and adolescents will produce health-promoting outcomes that balance individual and community-based psychological well-being throughout life, including positive outcomes and potential improvements., Dünyada pek çok çocuk yoksulluk, şiddet, ihmal, istismar, aile uyumsuzlukları, hastalıklar gibi zorlayıcı koşullar altında büyümektedir. Bu koşullar, çocukların ve gençlerin zihinsel, duygusal, sosyal gelişimlerini engelleyerek sağlıklı birer yetişkin olma potansiyeline ulaşmalarını güçleştirebilmektedir. Bütün bunların yanında, en ağır koşullarda bile hayatta kalabildiği gibi gelişimlerini sağlıkla ve işlevsellikle sürdürebilen çocuklar da vardır. Psikolojik sağlamlık, değişmez, doğuştan gelen bir özellikten ziyade çocuklar ve ergenlerin psikolojik iyi oluşunu koruyan ve geliştiren bir kaynak, bireyin kendi iç faktörleri ve çevresel faktörlerle etkileşimiyle şekillenen ve süreklilik arz eden, geliştirilebilen dinamik bir süreçtir. Bu çalışmada amaç, geçmişten bugüne psikolojik sağlamlık araştırmalarına dair uzanan bir alanyazın gözden geçirmesi sunmaktır. Makalede psikolojik sağlamlık tanımı, psikolojik sağlamlık araştırmaları tarihçesi, psikolojik sağlamlık bileşenleri, modelleri, ölçümü, müdahaleleri ve psikolojik sağlamlık araştırmalarında gelecek yönelimlere yer verilmiştir. Hypospadias is treated surgically and different methods can useable for this way. Due to involuntary erections during adolescence and later, neourethra seems at risk until wound healing is complete. Erections following penile surgery are painful and can affect the healing process negatively, because the stitches may not withstand a strong erection. Therefore, prevention of erection and management of pain are extremely important after the hypospadias surgery; especially in adolescents. Preventing erection may increase the chance of success from surgery. Short-term use of antipsychotics may be beneficial to prevent erection. In this case report, the use of sulpride in an eighteen-year-old patient after hypospadias repair and the effect of this treatment on the results of the surgery was presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

147. The Relationship Between Ossification in Metacarpophalangeal Sesamoids of the Thumb and the Period of Puberty: A Radiographic Study

Objective: The current study aimed to determine the onset of sesamoid bones (Sbs) ossification at the thumb metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint of the hand and its relationship with puberty. Methods: This retrospective radiographic study included patients aged 5-17 years. The presence of Sbs was investigated separately for each age group. Patients were classified based on their age, gender, and the presence of radial and ulnar sesamoids. Results: A total of 1,020 radiographs from 939 patients were analyzed. Sbs began to ossify in girls at the age of 8 years and in boys at the age of 9 years. The ulnar-radial sesamoids were present in all individuals in the same age group at the age of 13-14 years in girls and 15 years in boys. The age at which 50% of the individuals in the same age group had a sesamoid was 10.4 years in girls and 11.9 years in boys on the radial side, 9.5 years in girls, and 11.5 years in boys on the ulnar side. Conclusions: In all individuals, the time between the onset of sesamoids of the MCP joint and development corresponds to the physiological period of puberty. However, the age at which puberty begins coincides with the time when Sbs begin to ossify in 50% of both sexes in the same age group Amaç: Bu çalışma, elin başparmak metakarpofalangeal (MKP) ekleminde sesamoid kemiklerin (Sbs) kemikleşme zamanının başlangıcını ve ergenlik dönemi ile ilişkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Yöntemler: Bu retrospektif radyografik çalışmaya 5-17 yaş arası hastalar dahil edildi. Her yaş grubu için ayrı ayrı Sbs varlığı araştırıldı. Hastalar yaş, cinsiyet ve radyal-ulnar sesamoid varlığına göre kaydedildi. Bulgular: Dokuz yüz otuz dokuz hastanın 1.020 radyografisi incelendi. Sbs kızlarda 8, erkeklerde 9 yaşında kemikleşmeye başladı. Aynı yaş grubundaki tüm bireylerde ulnar-radyal sesamoidlerin bulunduğu yaş kızlarda 13-14, erkeklerde 15 idi. Sesamoidin aynı yaş grubundaki bireylerin %50’sinde görüldüğü yaş radyal taraf için kızlarda 10,4, erkeklerde 11,9 iken ulnar taraf için ise kızlarda 9,5, erkeklerde 11,5 yaş olarak belirlendi. Sonuçlar: Örneklemimizde ergenlik başlangıç zamanı ve süresi ile karşılaştırıldığında; 1. MKP eklemdeki sesamoidlerin görülmeye başladığı yaştan tüm bireylerde görülmeye başladığı yaşa kadar geçen süre fizyolojik ergenlik süresi ile benzerdir. Ergenlik başlangıç yaşı ise aynı yaş grubundaki hem cinslerinin %50’sinde Sbs’nin görüldüğü zamana denk gelmektedir

Amaç: Çalışmamızda Erikson’a göre 18 yaş dolaylarında başlayan ve kimlik arayışının sona ermesi ile biten geç ergenlik döneminde yapılan germe ve postür düzeltici egzersiz çalışmasının esneklik, ağrı ve anksiyeteye olan etkilerini araştırdık. Yöntem: Çalışmamıza bir vakıf üniversitesinin Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon bölümü ve Ergoterapi bölümü öğrencisi olan 30 kişi alınmıştır. Katılımcıların anksiyete ölçümü için Beck Depresyon Ölçeği, ağrı skorlarının belirlenmesi için McGill Ağrı Testi kullanılmış; esneklik ölçümleri aynı fizyoterapist tarafından manuel olarak yapılmıştır. Katılımcılardan alınan anket bilgileri SPSS 21 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiş, analizde Mann Whitney-U testi ve tedavi öncesi ve sonrası değerlendirmeleri için Wilcoxon testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması kontrol grubunda 19,66±0,81 yıl, çalışma grubunda 19,53±1,24 yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır. McGill ağrı sorgulamasında kontrol grubu tedavi öncesi 54,66 tedavi sonrası 54,53; çalışma grubunda tedavi öncesi 61,06 tedavi sonrası ise 51,46 olarak ölçülmüştür. Beck depresyon puanları kontrol grubunda tedavi öncesi 11,00 tedavi sonrası 10,93; çalışma grubunda tedavi öncesi 11,73 tedavi sonrası 8,53 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda kısa süre de olsa egzersiz ve germe kombinini uygulayan grupta ağrıda anlamlı ölçüde azalma bulunmuştur. Sadece egzersiz uygulayan grupta değişiklikler diğer gruba göre minimal ölçüdedir. Bu sonuca göre lise dönemindeki çocuklar ile spor yapan birimlerin spor saatine germe egzersizini mutlaka eklemesi gerektiğini düşünüyoruz.

Objective: Our aim is to determine the psychiatric outcomes of bariatric surgery among adolescent patients with obesity, a condition with high psychiatric comorbidity rates. Methods: Psychiatric evaluation of the patients includes Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Eating Attitudes Test and World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) prior to surgery and at post-operative year. Results: Adolescent patients admitting for bariatric surgery have high rates of psychiatric comorbidities. We report significant improvement in psychological well-being of the adolescent patients following sleeve gastrectomy procedure including depression, anxiety and feeding behavior scores and quality of life. Discussion: Limited number of studies regarding the psychiatric outcomes of bariatric surgery on adolescent patients are present in the literature. Improvement in depression and quality of life scores have also been reported in previous studies, whereas, no comprehensive study on anxiety and feeding behavior scores, to our knowledge, had been performed. Therefore, our case series study is significant by demonstrating the psychiatric outcomes of bariatric surgery more thoroughly. In addition, higher reductions in BMI have been observed following sleeve gastrectomy procedure compared to the findings in the literature mostly including roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure in adults. We propose that psychiatric comorbidities of the adolescent patients should be more prominent determinant of decision making procedure for bariatric surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
